Elon Musk is officially an employee of the US government — but he's not getting a paycheck

  • The White House confirmed his employment on Monday. He will not receive a paycheck.
  • Musk is a "special government employee," a role that's not supposed to last more than 130 days.

Elon Musk is officially an employee of the United States federal government.

A White House spokesman confirmed to Business Insider on Monday that the Tesla and SpaceX founder was a "special government employee" and would not receive a paycheck for his service.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later told reporters at the White House that Musk has "abided by all applicable federal laws."

.@PressSec on Elon Musk: "I can confirm he's a special government employee. I can also confirm that he has abided by all applicable federal laws. As for his security clearance, I'm not sure, but I can check...I don't know about the security clearance, but I can check." pic.twitter.com/86LzC55ocD

β€” CSPAN (@cspan) February 3, 2025

The government has historically used the "special government employee" classification for temporary workers who have particular expertise but don't intend to be employed permanently.

Special government employees aren't subject to the ethics and conflict-of-interest rules that government employees typically encounter. Musk's companies, particularly Tesla and SpaceX, have benefited significantly from government contracts.

Federal law says special government employees cannot serve for more than 130 days in a 365-day period, but it's not clear what would happen if Musk worked longer than that.

The Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) and the Department of Commerce suggest in online guidance that there are few consequences, with the FLRA saying that an employee's special government employee status is based on the agency's "good faith estimate" of how long the employee will work and Commerce ethics guidance saying that whoever appoints a special government employee who works more than 130 days "should reevaluate" the employee's status at the start of the next year.

Musk's "Department of Government Efficiency" is also part of the federal government β€” President Donald Trump signed an executive order on his first day in office renaming the United States Digital Service as the United States DOGE Service.

In recent days, Musk and his DOGE team have taken aim at the US Agency for International Development, with Musk calling for the agency to be shuttered.

On Monday, USAID employees were told that the building would be closed and staffers would be required to work from home, spurring outcry from Democratic lawmakers.

This freezer chest has two removable wire storage baskets, a front-mount temperature control, and an interior LED light. Best of all, it can turn into a refrigerator with the flip of a switch.

The Midea convertible chest freezer is $200 at my location.

The Del Real cheese-and-green-chile tamales could be a delicious lunch or dinner.
A hand holds a package of cheese and green-chile tamales with green lettering and an image of tamales on the front
The Del Real cheese-and-green-chile tamales are super easy to heat and eat.

Veronica Thatcher

If you're a fan of Mexican-style dishes, these Del Real tamales are a great find.

The tamales come with a cheese-and-green-chile filling β€” don't worry, they aren't spicy β€” and take less than three minutes to heat in the microwave. I also like that each serving contains 13 grams of protein.

At my store, a 15-count pack of the Del Real tamales can be found in the deli section for $18.80.

The Thomasville Wills oversize chair and storage ottoman are comfy and functional.

Veronica Thatcher

The Thomasville Wills oversize chair and storage ottoman both have ultra-soft furry corduroy fabric that's comfortable and chic. The chair, which measures 64 inches long and 35 inches high, has an extra-wide seat and two large pillows.

At my store, this set is $500.

Upgrade your skincare routine with the Hero Mighty Patches.

I think the Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patches are a great deal at Costco.

Veronica Thatcher

Acne products can be expensive, so I was happy to see the Hero Mighty Patches available at Costco.

Each package contains 54 original patches for nighttime use and 27 invisible patches that can be worn during the day. These patches can extract pus and visibly shrink whiteheads.

The Hero Mighty Patches are $23 at my Costco.

Get a workout in with the King Smith WalkingPad Pro folding treadmill.

Veronica Thatcher

If you have a busy lifestyle, the King Smith treadmill could be a good way to accomplish your workout goals at home.

This product comes fully assembled and has a USB charging port, a 250-pound weight capacity, and a brushless motor (so the walking pad runs smoothly and quietly). It's also foldable, making it easy to store in small spaces.

The King Smith walking pad is $500 at my store.

I used to work at HermΓ¨s. I saw customers make the same 5 mistakes — especially when trying to get a coveted Birkin.

3 January 2025 at 09:43

I used to work at Hermès and saw customers make the same mistakes over and over again.

Cristina Arias/Getty Images

  • As a former HermΓ¨s employee, I saw customers make some common mistakes when shopping in-store.
  • It's important to understand that most shoppers can't just walk in and buy a Birkin bag.
  • Customers should have a good relationship with their sales associate, but they shouldn't bug them.

I spent two years working in retail marketing and visual merchandising at HermΓ©s.

The French fashion house has been around for nearly two centuries and specializes in leather goods, though it might be best known for its coveted Birkin bags.

These high-ticket items, which can cost thousands and are often carried by celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, are offered to only a select number of the retailer's customers.

When I worked at Hermès, I learned a lot about the brand and how to score its most-coveted products. I've since transitioned to a career in sourcing luxury goods — and I'm no stranger to locating the brand's famous designer bags for my own clients.

Here are a few mistakes I saw customers make while shopping at Hermès.

Many customers think they can walk in and score a high-ticket item

Most customers can't just walk into a store and buy a Birkin or Kelly bag.

WWD/Penske Media via Getty Images

Similar to other luxury brands like Porsche, Hermès uses scarcity marketing — a concept in which consumers value a product when there's a limited supply or availability.

This means most customers cannot simply walk into a boutique and purchase the brand's highest-ticket items, like a Kelly or Birkin bag.

Birkin bags are so sought after that even its Walmart lookalikes are selling out.

If shoppers want to increase their chances of being able to buy the real thing, they should "build a profile" or establish a consistent buying history with the store.

This can be done by making entry-level purchases and working with a single, designated sales associate over time. After all, sales associates can play a major role in deciding who gets one of these coveted bags.

I recommend buying items in a diverse mix of categories. In my experience, the highest-commission categories for sales associates include homeware, fine jewelry, elaborate textiles, and exotic ready-to-wear pieces.

Purchasing these items can enhance your profile and help you stand out to a sales associate.

Refrain from acting rude or indifferent, and remember to maintain a professional demeanor

At Hermès, entitlement and rude behavior are the biggest no-gos. I've even seen negative attitudes prohibit clients from future boutique visits.

I recommend keeping a positive attitude, cultivating curiosity when in a boutique, and engaging with a sales associate as you would with anyone in a professional setting.

I'd also be mindful that sales associates are there to make a living and provide an exclusive, luxury experience. After all, this is supposed to be a mutually beneficial relationship.

Don't put too much pressure on your sales associate

Navigating the Hermès shopping experience is much like managing a business relationship. In many boutiques, sales associates share their contact details with customers.

However, many people tend to take this as a sign to inundate them with questions. Instead, I recommend customers visit a boutique at their convenience and ask about the potential timeline for a high-ticket item as they shop for other goods.

If texting or calling is your only way to engage with a sales associate, use it to inquire about lower-ticket items you're interested in seeing once you visit.

I've found a lot of customers have unrealistic expectations

An Hermes store with a display of red, black, pink, and blue purses on shelves
I've seen many customers become focused solely on buying hard-to-get items.

WWD/Penske Media via Getty Images

Some customers come in focused solely on coveting the one high-ticket item they saw all over social media.

However, I think two key points are crucial in navigating the Hermès shopping experience. First, keep in mind that sales associates value clients who engage with the brand and show genuine interest in Hermès' heritage.

Secondly, in my experience, sales associates don't earn a commission on bags like the Kelly and Birkin. Therefore, it may be wise to explore lesser-known areas within the brand, such as home goods, fragrances, or equestrian items your sales associate recommends.

This way, you'll be putting commission money in your sales associate's pocket, and they may feel more inclined to help you work your way to a coveted bag.

Don't switch between different sales associates or locations

Working your way toward a coveted bag at Hermès can feel like a high-stakes mental game. Customers often have to visit a boutique multiple times, so the path to owning these items can be lengthy.

Unfortunately, I've seen customers trying to game the system by visiting multiple boutiques or switching between sales associates in one location.

However, I recommend staying loyal to one associate and boutique, as some stores may prioritize their most devoted clients.

I've worked at Costco for 19 years. Here are the 10 best things I bought there this year.

26 December 2024 at 08:50
Four stacks of tires with two upright tires on either end of the stacks at Costco
This year, I made lots of great purchases at Costco.

Veronica Thatcher

  • As a Costco employee, I purchased lots of great items at the warehouse throughout 2024.
  • The Kirkland Signature rotisserie chicken is a must-buy when I need easy lunches and dinners.
  • This year, I invested in useful services like a cellphone plan and tires for my car.

As a Costco employee, I shop at the store all year long. However, now that it's December, I'm reflecting on a few of my favorite purchases I made this year at the retailer.

Here are some of the best things I got at Costco in 2024.

The Snapware Pyrex 18-piece glass food-storage set has been a kitchen essential this year.
Boxes with images of Pyrex Snapware containing assorted vegetables, pasta, and other foods on the packaging
I used the Snapware Pyrex 18-piece glass food-storage set all year long.

Veronica Thatcher

As someone with a small family who cooks almost daily, these Snapware Pyrex 18-piece glass food-storage sets came in handy all year.

Each set comes with nine airtight containers in various sizes that are leak-proof and microwave-safe.

The Shark Detect cordless stick vacuum is super easy to use.
Side-by-side image of a Shark vacuum display with a black box and thin white vacuum at Costco
The Shark Detect clean and empty cordless stick vacuum comes with plenty of great features.

Veronica Thatcher

The Shark Detect cordless stick vacuum is one of the best cleaning devices I've ever owned. At just over 6 pounds, it feels lightweight and is easy to haul up and down the stairs.

The Shark vacuum has four deep-cleaning modes and runs for up to 60 minutes, giving me plenty of time to tidy up. Each set also comes with a crevice tool and a multi-surface brush roll.

Even better, the device converts to a hand vacuum, making it easier to clean small, hard-to-reach places, car interiors, and staircases.

We keep the Yummy Dino Buddies chicken nuggets in our freezer at all times.

My kids love the Yummy Dino Buddies chicken nuggets.

Veronica Thatcher

The Yummy Dino Buddies chicken nuggets are a great way for my kids to get their protein in. The chicken is juicy, and the nuggets get a slight crunch when air-fried.

To prepare them, I simply place some nuggets in the air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit or microwave them for about a minute and a half.

I took advantage of the cell-service kiosks at Costco.
An AT&T kiosk with a blue screen and a display area with several cellphones at Costco
As a Costco member, I got a $200 shop card when I purchased a new phone line at the in-store kiosk.

Veronica Thatcher

If you shop at Costco, you may have seen kiosks from different cell-service providers when entering the warehouse. These kiosks usually offer deals on new cell-service plans and upgrades from carriers like T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T.

Depending on the carrier and warehouse, Costco customers who stop at the cell-service kiosks may also be eligible for members-only perks. For example, I got a $200 Costco shop card when I added a new phone line to my plan.

The Kirkland Signature rotisserie chicken is a must-buy.
A black and red bag containing a Kirkland Signature rotisserie chicken on a metal shelf
I've used the Kirkland Signature rotisserie chicken in countless lunches and dinners.

Veronica Thatcher

The Kirkland Signature rotisserie chicken has made making quick lunches and dinners easy.

Costco team members cook the rotisserie chicken fresh at the warehouse every day. I like to serve it with a side or shred the whole thing to use in meals like enchiladas or chicken salad.

At just $5 for a 3-pound chicken, it's one of the best deals out there.

This year, we invested in the Arlo Essential XL wireless HD camera.

I feel safer in my home with the Arlo Essential XL wireless HD camera.

Veronica Thatcher

The Arlo Essential XL wireless-camera bundle has been a good investment when it comes to feeling safe and at ease in our home.

This system is easy to install and has live HD video and color night vision. I also like that I can access the camera from my smartphone.

Each bundle comes with three cameras and a four-month Arlo secure subscription.

The Kirkland Signature organic Pacific Bold K-Cup pods last us a while.

The 120-count boxes of the Kirkland Signature organic Pacific Bold K-Cup pods are a staple for my family.

Veronica Thatcher

As a coffee fanatic, I know buying Keurig coffee pods can get pretty pricey. However, I feel I get a pretty good bang for my buck when I buy 120-count boxes of the Kirkland Signature K-cups.

The store carries flavors like breakfast blend and summit roast, but my family's staple is the Kirkland Signature organic Pacific Bold pods.

This year, I got new tires for my car.
Four stacks of tires with two upright tires on either end of the stacks at Costco
I love that I was able to replace my car's tires at Costco.

Veronica Thatcher

Getting new tires is a big purchase, but buying them from the Costco tire center was one of the best decisions I made this past year. The center offers various sizes from a few top-name brands, like Michelin and Firestone.

Not only do customers get wholesale prices, but the tire center also offers installation and inflation pressure checks.

I always love buying my produce from Costco.
A large red sign that says "Fresh Produce" on wall above a room filled with packaged fruit and vegetables at Costco
I grab fruit and veggies for my family at Costco.

Veronica Thatcher

Costco is the only place I buy my produce. Whether I'm getting berries, oranges, bananas, or even mangoes, the produce always seems to be high-quality and is sold at wholesale prices.

If you have a big family or know you'll be able to consume large amounts of fruit or vegetables before they go bad, I think it's worth buying produce in bulk.

I get an eye exam at Costco every year.
Several eyeglasses on wooden shelf display on red table at Costco. Three pairs of glasses on the top shelves are also sunglasses
Costco's optical center offers glasses and contacts.

Veronica Thatcher

Each year, I get an eye exam and purchase prescription glasses at Costco's optical center.

Customers can contact their insurance provider to check if the optical center's services are covered. However, you can still get an exam and purchase glasses if you're not covered by insurance β€” at my warehouse, out-of-pocket eye exams start at about $70.

Patients don't have to be cardholders to get an exam, but only members can purchase glasses or contacts.

I've worked at Costco for 19 years. Here are 10 of the best things I'm seeing on the shelves right now.

Veronica Thatcher

  • This December, Costco is carrying fun and festive food and home goods.
  • The Shark FlexStyle air-styling and drying system would make a great gift.
  • If you're heading to a party, I recommend picking up Costco's holiday-cookie tray.

I've worked at Costco, a leading retailer in customer satisfaction, for 19 years. Throughout my career, I've loved exploring the retailer's rotating stock and bringing home new items for my family.

This December, the store is carrying lots of merchandise that would make great gifts for the holidays, as well as a few cool home goods.

Here are 10 things I recommend checking out at Costco this month.

Prices may vary by location.

Veronica Thatcher

This month, my Costco has a new premade item: the beef-and-pork meatball sandwich with marinara.

The sandwich, made with artisanal bread, provolone and Parmesan cheese, and ground beef and pork, is large enough to serve a few people. I recommend heating it in the oven or an air fryer to get a nice, cheesy melt.

This meatball sandwich costs $6 per pound, which comes out to about $13 to $15 total.Β

Heat your home with the Bayside Furnishings infrared electric fireplace stove heater.

The Bayside Furnishings infrared electric fireplace stove heater is relatively compact.

Veronica Thatcher

The Bayside Furnishings heater could be a great winter addition to your home.

The device has a metal frame, an infrared-heating element, a sleep timer, and three flame colors. At 24 inches wide and just over 23 inches tall, it's also compact enough to fit into small spaces.

This electric heater is $125 at my Costco.

The Shark FlexStyle air-styling and drying system could be a great gift for the holidays.

Veronica Thatcher

The Shark FlexStyle air-styling and drying system, which allows users to curl, straighten, smooth, or add volume to their hair with less heat damage, could make the perfect gift.

This set includes two multi-style curlers, a diffuser, a concentrator, paddle and oval brushes, a FrizzFighter finishing tool, and a storage bag to keep everything secure.

The Shark FlexStyle system is regularly $300, but at my location, the set is on sale for $230 until December 24.

The holiday GrinchΒ has been a hot-selling item at my location.

The holiday Grinch statue stands about 20 inches tall.

Veronica Thatcher

This month, you can take home your own statue of the Grinch and his dog, Max, designed by artist Jim Shore.

The hand-painted Grinch collectible stands about 20 inches tall and weighs just over 8 pounds. At my Costco, it costs $50.

This month, you can bring Costco's holiday-cookie trayΒ to gatherings.

Veronica Thatcher

Costco's holiday-cookie tray is the perfect dish to bring to parties. Each tray contains 60 cookies in chocolate-chunk, brown-butter-sugar, double-chocolate-chip, double-nut, and candy-gem-chip flavors.

Customers can find the holiday cookies in the bakery section for $25.

Enhance your bedroom or bathroom with the Conair LED double-sided vanity mirror.

Veronica Thatcher

This month, you can get ready and illuminate your bathroom or bedroom with the Conair LED double-sided vanity mirror β€” an item that seems to be selling fairly quickly at my Costco.

The model includes a square mirror, an accessory tray, and three touch-control light settings.

At my store, the Conair vanity mirror β€” regularly $30 β€” is on sale for $24 until December 24.

I'd definitely look into the Phantom A10 smart electric scooter.
A large black box with an image of an electric scooter and "Phantom A10" text on it
The Phantom A10 smart electric scooter can reach a top speed of 15.5 miles per hour.

Veronica Thatcher

If you ask me, the Phantom A10, an electric scooter with a 400-watt motor, is one coolest things at Costco right now.

It has puncture-proof tires, cruise control, a top speed of 15.5 miles per hour, and a Gogo Connect companion app. The scooter is also foldable, so it's easy to store.

The Phantom A10 smart electric scooter is $400 at my location.

I think Costco has a great deal on the Dr. Squatch natural bar soap.

Veronica Thatcher

This month, my Costco is carrying a variety pack of the Dr. Squatch all-natural bar soap. Each pack contains six bars of soap with two of each scent: wood-barrel bourbon, fresh falls, and pine tar.

I was excited to see this soap at Costco because it's a great deal compared to the prices I've seen at other retailers. At my store, a pack of Dr. Squatch natural bar soap costs about $20.

Upgrade your closet with the Adidas men's hoodie.

  • The Ghirardelli gift baskets come with chocolates and other tasty sweets.
  • I already bought the MyCharge three-in-one folding wireless charging pad for my husband.

As a Costco employee, I love shopping at the store no matter the time of year. However, each holiday season, I'm reminded that the retailer is a great place to stock up on gifts for friends and family.

From comfy slippers to adorable toys, here are the 10 best gifts I saw at Costco this holiday season.

Hello Kitty has been pretty popular this year, so I didn't want to miss my chance to get this pillow-and-blanket set as a Christmas gift for my daughter.

Each bundle comes with a Hello Kitty plush cloud pillow and a reversible, 60-by-70-inch polyester throw. This set would make the perfect addition to a kid's or collector's room.

The Bellevue candle set can be split up and given as individual gifts.

The Bellevue luxury candle set comes with four scents.

Veronica Thatcher

Costco gets great seasonal homeware items, and this year, I'd recommend picking up the Bellevue luxury candle set.

Each pack has four 12-ounce candles with removable labels and metal lids. The candles, which are formulated with essential oils, come in mistletoe-frost, sapphire-cashmere, heirloom-apple-grove, and cinnamon-pumpkin-chai scents.

I like to split these candles up and give them by themselves or with a gift card in a clear bag with a bow.

I pick up the Ghirardelli gift baskets every year.Β

Veronica Thatcher

Buying Christmas presents can be difficult, especially if you come from a big family like mine. Luckily, these Ghirardelli baskets make gift-giving easy.

The gift baskets contain a selection of the brand's popular items, like chocolate-covered pretzels and signature candies. Each set also comes with a resealable tin that can be used for storage.

This year, my location is carrying two basket sets with different combinations of caramel- and chocolate-flavored treats.

This electric-tool set could be a great gift for a white-elephant exchange or for someone who loves wine.

The five-piece set has two USB-C charging cables, two bottle stoppers, a foil cutter, an electric corkscrew, and a wine dispenser.

I like this set because the tools make it easy to open a bottle of wine and keep it tasting fresh.

I worked at Sephora for 11 years. Here are my absolute favorite beauty products of all time.

22 November 2024 at 07:02
The writer wears a Sephora uniform and bright-red lipstick and stands in front of a skincare studio station at Sephora
I worked at Sephora for 11 years.

Nora Candreva

  • AfterΒ working at Sephora for 11 years, I have lots of go-to makeup and skincare products.
  • The First Aid Beauty facial radiance pads and pure-skin face cleanser are great products.
  • I love the Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech foundation and Urban Decay Vice Lip Bond long-wear lipstick.

I saw a lot of changes in beauty trends during my 11 years at Sephora. But one question clients asked me always remained the same: Which products would you recommend?

Despite the murky outlook of the economy, shoppers are still spending their cash on beauty products and looking to get the best value on the items they buy.

Here are my favorite makeup and skincare products as a freelance makeup artist and former Sephora employee.

The Haus Labs by Lady Gaga Triclone Skin Tech foundation makes my clients' skin look flawless.

The Haus Labs by Lady Gaga Triclone Skin Tech foundation has an amazing formula.

Nora Candreva

The Haus Labs by Lady Gaga Triclone Skin Tech foundation creates a natural medium-coverage look. This product has an amazing formula with skincare ingredients like fermented arnica, which can help reduce redness.

The brand's concealers are also fabulous and can even be used as foundation.

The Ilia Super Serum skin tint features great skincare ingredients.
A hand holds a white bottle with Ilia logo and a tan dropper in Sephora. Other bottles are on display on a pink shelf in the background
The Ilia Super Serum skin tint SPF 40 provides light-to-medium coverage.

Nora Candreva

Full disclosure, I work as a brand ambassador for Ilia at some Sephora stores β€” but I genuinely love the Ilia Super Serum skin tint because it has great skincare ingredients.

The SPF 40 product contains ingredients like niacinamide, which can treat acne, and squalane, which hydrates the skin. It's a beautifully tinted serum with dewy light-to-medium coverage.

When it comes to the lashes, I have to recommend the Dior Diorshow 24h buildable-volume mascara.

The Dior Diorshow Maximizer 3D triple-volume plumping lash primer and 24h buildable-volume mascara are a great combination.

Nora Candreva

I usually point clients who want voluminous lashes to the Dior Diorshow 24h buildable-volume mascara. Personally, I prefer the waterproof formula for building volume.

Take care of your lips with the OleHenriksen Pout Preserve hydrating peptide lip treatments.

The OleHenriksen Pout Preserve peptide lip treatments come in various shades.

Nora Candreva

My lips always feel hydrated and plump when I use the OleHenriksen Pout Preserve hydrating peptide lip treatments.

I love the Strawberry Sorbet shade because it leaves a beautiful hint of pink on the lips.

The Urban Decay Vice Bond glossy long-wear lipstick is truly impressive.

When I want lip colors that last, I go for the Urban Decay Vice Bond glossy long-wear lipsticks.

Nora Candreva

I was wowed when I first tried the Urban Decay Vice Bond glossy long-wear lipstick.

The highly pigmented colors stay on my lips longer than the rest of my makeup. To use it, shake the lipstick, apply it to your lips, and let it dry while you keep your mouth open.

Sephora Collection setting products seal makeup in perfectly.

I love the Sephora Collection translucent setting powder and setting spray.

Nora Candreva

Because I was encouraged to sell Sephora Collection makeup when I worked in the store, I've tried many of the products.

My favorites were always the setting products because they lock down makeup for a reasonable price.

I'd even say the Sephora Collection translucent loose setting powder is comparable to the pricier Laura Mercier translucent one.

Similarly, the Sephora Collection all-day makeup setting spray is just as good for setting your face as the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless spray.

In terms of skincare, there are some great sunscreen options to choose from at Sephora.

I'd usually recommend the Ilia C Beyond triple serum SPF 40 or the Tula Skincare Protect and Glow sunscreen gel.

I always tell my clients that sunscreen is like health insurance for the face.

I swear by the Ilia C Beyond triple serum SPF 40 because the tinted formula, which comes in three shades, can cover redness without leaving a white cast. It also layers underneath foundation beautifully.

The Tula Skincare Protect and Glow daily sunscreen gel SPF 30 gives the skin a gorgeous glow while protecting it from sun damage.

The right balm and oil cleansers remove makeup and sunscreen effortlessly.

Double cleansing, or washing your face with two cleansers, starts with removing makeup and sunscreen with balms or oils.

I recommend the Farmacy Green Clean makeup-removing cleansing balm or the Dermalogica Precleanse cleansing oil. Be gentle when massaging these products on the skin, especially around the eyes, so you don't lose any lashes.

Choose cleansers that complement your skin type.

I recommend choosing a basic cleanser according to your skin type and concerns.

For example, I have combination skin (oily and dry), so I use the gel-based Shani Darden cleansing serum. The cleanser feels luxurious with how it foams up. I also felt like how it removes dirt and oil without drying out my skin.

If your skin is dry and sensitive, I recommend a cream-based product like the First Aid Beauty pure-skin cleanser. The fragrance-free cream formula even doubles as a makeup remover.

The Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant exfoliant can help smooth textured skin.

I usually recommend an enzyme exfoliant for those with dry or flaky skin and a chemical exfoliator with glycolic or lactic acids for clients with textured skin.

The Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant exfoliant is an enzyme powder that's activated when mixed with water.

This gentle yet effective scrub helps even skin tone while cleansing and reducing the appearance of pores. It's a great step before applying foundation.

I have a few go-to chemical exfoliants that nourish the skin.

Nora Candreva

When I want a chemical exfoliant that nourishes my skin, I use the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta extra-strength daily peel pads.

I also loved using the First Aid Beauty facial radiance pads when prepping clients' skin at Sephora's Beauty Studio. They're a staple for preparing a good base to apply makeup to, and I've even found they work for people with sensitive skin.

For moisturizers, Skinfix products are my holy grail.

The Skinfix Barrier+ products can help restore skin health.

Nora Candreva

I suggest people with dry skin go for a cream-based moisturizer because it has a thick consistency that will lock in moisture.

I like a few Skinfix products, but the Barrier+ strengthening and moisturizing triple lipid-peptide cream hydrates and helps to restore the skin barrier.

The Biossance squalane-and-marine-algae eye cream is one of my favorite skincare picks.

Nora Candreva

My all-time favorite eye cream is the Biossance squalane-and-marine-algae product.

It's the ultimate one-and-done eye cream because it can firm and instantly brighten the under eyes. For an extra refreshing application, chill your eye cream in the fridge.
