Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift have notably not spent time together at as many Kansas City Chiefs games this season as last year.
The two are significant others of the top stars on the team in Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, respectively.
The apparent separation came as the two appeared to support different candidates in this year's presidential election. Mahomes liked a post from Donald Trump on Instagram and wrote several messages regarding her critics, while Swift openly endorsed Kamala Harris.
According to multiple outlets, Patrick and Brittany recently attended an Eras Tour-themed party hosted by Swift, and the quarterback rocked a tuxedo similar to the one Kelce wore while on stage at a show. Patrick's wife wore a sparkly silver dress.
Brittany posted several photos of the event, some of which included Swift, captioning the post, "My people" with a heart emoji.
Patrick, Brittany, Kelce and Swift attended the men's U.S. Open final after the Chiefs' first game of the season.
And Swift stood or sat alongside Brittany in the same suite for nearly every Chiefs game last year. However, this year, Swift was only seen with Mahomes twice at games — Oct. 7 against the Saints and Nov. 4 against the Buccaneers.
The duo made headlines at the Chiefs' first game against the Ravens when they sat in separate suites to open the season. The two sat separately after Brittany incited backlash for publicly liking a post by Trump on Instagram. Swift fan groups on social media were partially responsible for circulating screenshots of Brittany's like of Trump's post.
Trump even weighed in on the controversy after Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president Sept. 10. In an interview on "Fox & Friends" the next day, Trump said he liked Brittany "much better" than Swift.
Fox News' Jackson Thompson contributed to this report.
Brock Purdy was maybe one or two plays away from helping the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl championship over the Kansas City Chiefs with an apparently nervous Taylor Swift in attendance.
Swift, who is dating Chiefs star Travis Kelce, made an appearance at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, on Thursday and was asked whether the song "Paper Rings" was about Purdy.
"I don’t mind Brock Purdy. He put me through a lot last February. I was very stressed for a second," Swift said while signing an autograph for a child.
Purdy was 23-of-38 with 255 passing yards and a touchdown pass. The touchdown pass to Jauan Jennings in the fourth quarter put the 49ers up three points with 11:22 left in the game.
The teams traded field goals to force overtime, and San Francisco went up three early in the overtime frame. However, Patrick Mahomes got the last laugh and his 3-yard pass to Mecole Hardman gave Kansas City its championship.
Swift and Kelce celebrated on the field with a few kisses.
Swift’s song "Paper Rings" was off of her "Lover" album, which was released in 2019.
For what it’s worth, Purdy was still at Iowa State when "Lover" was released to the masses. He took over as the 49ers’ starting quarterback during the 2022 season and won his first 10 regular-season starts.
Purdy has suffered through an injury this season. He has 3,174 passing yards and 15 touchdown passes in 13 games.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has made more than $93 million in career NFL earnings, and has plenty to spend on a birthday gift for Taylor Swift. But his blue-collar Ohio father apparently isn't going to stretch himself too thin for the occasion.
Kelce's father, Ed Kelce, said that he plans to only spend $10 on a present for his son's pop star girlfriend this year.
"You're not going to crush Taylor Swift with a gift that cost, you know, $100,000. You've got to get something that tweaks the strings of her heart that you spend 10 bucks on," Ed said during an appearance on the "Baskin & Phelps" podcast. "Then she'll just be all gooey. You've got to find something that triggers the emotion."
Ed, a former steelworker and Coast Guard service member, believes that there's no point in spending too much on someone like Swift, who has the means to attain anything she wants as a billionaire.
"The amount of money is meaningless," he said. "There's nothing they want that they don't already have. You have to look beyond that. You've got to dig down and come up with something special."
Swift turned 35 on Friday, and is into her second full year in her relationship with the NFL star.
Kelce has faced mounting pressure to propose to Swift after Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen got engaged to actress Hailee Steinfeld at the end of November. Fans have called on Kelce to drop to one knee for Swift on all social media channels as the two are now each officially in the second half of their 30s.
If and when that day comes, Swift will look to embrace Ed and Kelce's mother Donna as in-laws, but she likely won't expect high-end gifts from either of the two parents, based on Ed's philosophy.
While Ed made a career in the steel industry, he comes from a military background.
"Everybody in my family prior to me was in the service," Ed said on an episode of Travis and his brother Jason's "New Heights" podcast in February 2023. "We're also talking about family [that] lived through World War II, so that's what everybody did because that was the background."
Ed did not go into the Army because he had a pre-existing knee injury. He joined the Coast Guard, but had to leave boot camp after it was discovered he had Crohn's disease.
After joining the steel industry, Ed made sure to bring his sons Travis and Jason to work with him at the mill to show them what that line of work looked like.
"I'd take them there — hard hat, safety glasses, boots, the whole nine yards," he told the Los Angeles Times. "I'd tell them, 'You can have a job like your mother's, or you can have a job like mine.'"
WNBA phenom Caitlin Clark said during an interview with Time magazine that Taylor Swift invited her to watch a Kansas City Chiefs game.
The publication named Clark its Athlete of The Year, reporting on her interactions with Swift in recent months. Clark said she met Swift and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in person after attending two shows on the singer's Eras Tour.
"People are just going crazy that I’m there," Clark said. "I thought people would be so in their own world, ready to see Taylor. And it was just completely the opposite."
Swift's invitation to watch a Chiefs game would give Clark the opportunity to watch her favorite team with her favorite musical artist. Clark has previously said Swift is her favorite artist and welcomed Swift to the Chiefs fan base when the singer's relationship with Kelce went public in September 2023.
The invite also came during a year in which Swift has been visibly distant from Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kelce's teammate, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, compared to last season.
Swift stood or sat alongside Brittany in the same suite for nearly every game last year. However, this year, Swift was only seen with Mahomes twice at games — Oct. 7 against the Saints and Nov. 4 against the Buccaneers.
The duo made headlines at the Chiefs' first game against the Ravens when they sat in separate suites to open the season. The two sat separately after Brittany incited backlash for publicly liking a post by Donald Trump on Instagram.
After Trump sent a post on Truth Social that said "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!," many of her fans called on Mahomes to disavow all of her support for Trump.
However, Mahomes never did that. She simply kept going to Chiefs games, sometimes sitting beside Swift and sometimes sitting with someone else, including model Paige Buechele, the wife of Chiefs backup quarterback Shane Buechele, in a game against the Buffalo Bills Nov. 17.
Clark declined to endorse any political candidate before the recent election, but she did like the Instagram post Swift used to endorse Harris. Clark advocated for athletes to encourage fans to vote when asked about the like.
Clark was previously placed next to Swift on the cover of Time magazine's recent Inspiring Women special edition issue that featured eight women in positions of leadership, including multiple athletes.
Travis Kelce may be dating the most famous woman in the world in Taylor Swift, but it does not appear their relationship of more than a year has changed him too much.
Kylie Kelce, Jason Kelce’s wife, called into the "New Heights" hotline during their latest episode on Wednesday. She wanted to nominate a movie for the next movie review and proposed the idea of Travis and Jason watching the movie "Love Actually" this Christmas season – a notable Taylor Swift favorite.
"'Love Actually’ is a tremendous movie that you can really sit down with your significant others and enjoy because it’s not like one of your significant others hasn’t asked you to watch it multiple times and you said no every time," she said, apparently referring to her husband. "So, this would be a great excuse to get you to watch it. OK, I hope you take this into consideration."
Travis appeared to be looking up the movie while Kylie’s voice played.
"I think we both can probably agree we’re not doing ‘Love Actually,'" Jason said.
"Yeah, probably not," Travis agreed. "I’ll do, like, a really good Christmas movie though."
When Kylie said she would come on if they reviewed "Love Actually," Travis did not think it would change anything about how they felt. Jason suggested he go on Kylie’s new podcast "Not Gonna Lie" and do the review.
"Yeah, don’t f---ing torture me. Torture your husband," Travis said. "I’m an innocent bystander here, Ky. Don’t f---ing come for me."
Travis said coming to know Hugh Grant, one of the stars of the film, has made some of his movies more enjoyable. Travis also made sure to say he didn’t say he "wouldn’t enjoy ‘Love Actually’" he just didn’t want to review it.
Swift is a fan of the Grant, Liam Neeson, Keira Knightley Christmas classic. She told Teen Vogue, "Did you ever watch the movie ‘Love Actually’where Hugh Grant’s voiceover says, ‘If you look around, love actually isall around?’ That’s my favorite motto."
Kylie echoed Swift about 10 years later.
Jason and Travis then agreed they would review "Love Actually" after some pressure from their producer as well as a movie the fans of the show picked out.
Jason did make clear that he did not want anyone to submit "Die Hard" as a Christmas movie to review. He declared the Bruce Willis action thriller was "not a Christmas movie."
The international pop star was photographed arriving at Arrowhead Stadium with Donna Kelce ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday.
Her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is playing in the NFL’s second-ever game on Black Friday.
Swift, 34, was sporting a red Louis Vuitton quarter zip with black pants and black boots. She was also wearing a diamond necklace with Travis’ No. 87.
The duo walking in together follows Donna Kelce’s previous comments made earlier this month during an appearance on the "TODAY Show" where she expressed doubt that Swift would be in attendance because of her "busy" schedule.
"I don’t think so," Donna said at the time. "She’s kind of busy right now. She still has her tour to do."
"I am going to be at a football game. Travis is playing the day after Thanksgiving," she said with a smile. "You know, football is always the holidays. Football’s family."
Swift has been absent from the Chiefs’ last two games, including their first loss of the season against the Buffalo Bills in Week 11, as she nears the end of her "Eras Tour" in Canada.
Her last show was at the Rogers Centre in Toronto on Saturday. She’ll be on break until her next show in Vancouver on Dec. 6.
Taylor Swift fans set their sights on the wife of Buffalo Bills player Baylon Spector for some trash talk over Sunday's big game.
After the Bills gave Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season on Sunday, Ryleigh Spector took the opportunity to boast. The linebacker's wife made a post on social media celebrating the Chiefs' victory while taking a shot at Swift.
"9-2! Never a Swiftie," she wrote on her Instagram Stories over a photo of her at the game.
The brag quickly caught the attention of Swift fans across social media, who rushed to attack Spector while defending Swift.
"And the jealousy always shows up," one user wrote.
Another user even went out of her way to psycho-analyze Ryleigh and make comparisons to a high school girl.
"She obviously has a very low self-esteem to go out of her way to put down Taylor Swift. When I read all this crap I think I’m back in high school. I wonder why our country is so screwed up. We have a hard time treating people with kindness very sad to see," the user wrote.
Another user said the linebacker's wife should be embarrassed.
"Really? So unnecessary and immature. You would think women would support someone who has brought so many other women and children for that matter back to loving the sport. Shows their true character. They should be embarrassed," the user wrote.
Meanwhile, one user attacked Ryleigh and others who have mocked Swift, while also expressing frustration over the idea that Swift fans would be characterized by the attacks in defense of their pop idol.
"What a (add expletive here). Honestly this kind of crap creates mean behavior — then people blame the Swifties. This is crap FROM crap," the user wrote.
Spector is only the latest current or former partner of an NFL player to be attacked by Swift fans. Just before the season started, fans attacked one of Swift's friends and the wife of Kelce's teammate.
Brittany Mahomes, who is married to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and is pregnant with their third child, was attacked by Swift fans in August just for liking a post on Donald Trump's Instagram account.
Brittany was linked to other showings of support for Trump, and Swift made headlines for not sitting in the same suites at Chiefs games ahead of the election earlier in the season. It made Mahomes a frequent target of Swift fans, as the wife and mother made multiple social media responses to the hate comments she was getting, and even had to seek advice from her husband on dealing with the attention, she said on the "Whoop" podcast Aug. 28.
"Having him to help me get through it has helped a lot because he is very good at managing those things and blocking people out and doing all that type of stuff," she said. "Having him beside me and kind of guiding me, coaching me through it has helped a ton. I think that’s kind of gotten to where we are at now.
"I think the main thing he always told me is like, ‘Stop caring about what people think, especially the people that don’t even know you,’" she said. "And so I think social media used to get me a lot, and now it’s just like, honestly, I don’t give a f--- about what people have to say about me anymore."
Swift fans also attacked Kelce's ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole and WNBA star Angel Reese after Reese hosted Nicole in a podcast episode in early October.
Nicole went into detail about her romantic relationship with Kelce and its aftermath.
"We’ve seen each other in public spaces before, but it’s – I think that we’re both aware of the nature of his new situation that there’s just no room really for us to communicate or acknowledge each other publicly without it being spun into something crazy," Nicole said of Kelce and his new relationship with Swift.
Nicole also claimed she has received hate since Kelce began to date Swift.
"I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and just, like, online chaos doesn’t impact me," Nicole said. "It does, even to this day. You can go to my most recent post, and it will be people debating each other why I am worthless, and I’ll never be a talented person and I have no career."
The comments ignited a controversy on social media, with some defending Nicole and sympathizing with her. The criticism against Reese for hosting Kelce's ex prompted a response from the Sky rookie days later.
"Hating pays too," Reese wrote in a post on X with emoji of painting toenails.
Now, Spector has joined the Swift army rogues gallery. With a potential playoff matchup between the two teams once January comes around, it could be just the beginning of Spector's reputation among the singer's fan base.
