49ers' Brock Purdy impresses after gifting offensive lineman brand-new cars for Christmas

20 December 2024 at 07:14

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy joked last Christmas that he could not afford the traditional gifts given to the offensive linemen because of his rookie contract, but this year is a different story.

The 24-year-old signal caller surprised his teammates with quite the gift this holiday season, gifting them all brand-new cars.

"Boys, I just want to say Merry Christmas. I got some gifts for you guys — sorry for the wait, but if you want to follow me outside," Purdy said in a video shared by the team on social media.

Once outside, the team saw nine brand-new cars: five Toyota Sequoias and four Toyota Tundras.

"Oh, my God, I can’t believe this," offensive tackle Nick Zakelj said with a laugh.

"Listen to the purr," guard Aaron Banks said as he revved the engine. "Purdy, that purr is Purdy."

"My mind is blown, honestly," offensive tackle Jaylon Moore added. "This is probably the greatest gift I ever got in my life."

Last season, star running back Christian McCaffrey gifted the offensive linemen a custom golf bag, a certificate for fitted golf clubs and a bottle of tequila — a gesture usually reserved for the quarterback.

49ERS' DEOMMODORE LENOIR TORCHES SUSPENDED TEAMMATE FOR REFUSAL TO ENTER GAME: 'LOST ALL RESPECT'

"Financially, I wouldn’t be able to cover that right now," Purdy joked with reporters at the time. "Shout-out to him. Everyone loved it. So, thank you, Christian."

Purdy is still on his rookie deal, a contract that pays him $985,000 this season. However, the fourth-year quarterback is due for a massive payday.

As the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, "Mr. Irrelevant" stunned fans during his rookie season when he took over the starting role as the third-string quarterback following injuries to Trey Lance and eventually Jimmy Garoppolo.

Purdy led the team all the way to the NFC Championship before suffering a devastating injury to his throwing arm. He returned the following season to lead the Niners all the way to the Super Bowl.

Now, the 49ers are expected to lock down Purdy with a massive long-term contract extension in the offseason.

"I think Brock has done nothing but play at a very, very high level," tight end George Kittle said recently of what Purdy’s new deal might look like, per NBC Sports. "The nice thing about contracts is when you play at a high level, you can compare yourself to other people in the league and when other guys are getting paid $50-$60 million, and you’re a better quarterback than they are, it’s hard not to get that same amount of money."

49ers' Deommodore Lenoir torches suspended teammate for refusal to enter game: 'Lost all respect'

17 December 2024 at 09:21

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir torched teammate De’Vondre Campbell after the linebacker was suspended for his refusal to enter their game last week.

The 49ers suspended Campbell for three games over the incident. Lenoir did not hold back when he was asked his thoughts about it on Monday.

"When he first got signed, I was thinking in my head, like, we got another guy we can add to the defense who can contribute," Lenoir recalled, via NBC Sports Bay Area. "For that to happen, and him to do that, I just lost all respect."

Campbell had been brought onto the team in the offseason as fellow linebacker Dre Greenlaw healed up from a torn Achilles suffered in the Super Bowl.

Greenlaw returned for Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams but started to feel soreness in his Achilles in the third quarter. When the 49ers told Campbell to enter the game, he refused.

EX-NFL STAR SUGGESTS CHIEFS BENCH PATRICK MAHOMES FOR PLAYOFFS AFTER ANKLE INJURY

Lenoir said he thought it was "crazy" to quit on the team while they were in the trenches.

"I’d never be a part of something like that. I got too much love for the game, too much pride to even tell the coach I’m not going into the game," Lenoir said. "I’m a person who’s going 110% every play. So if I’m hurt and the guy behind me is not backing me up and can’t go in or don’t want to go in, I feel like that’s being a cancer to the team."

It has been one of those years for San Francisco. The team had high hopes going into the season with Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk re-signed. However, offseason turmoil seeped into the regular season with losses piling up.

The 49ers are now 6-8 and on the verge of missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2020 season.

NFL legend gives 49ers star Deebo Samuel hard truth about dropped balls

17 December 2024 at 07:02

Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice called out San Francisco 49ers star Deebo Samuel for his crucial mistakes in the team’s 12-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams last week.

Samuel had three catches for 16 yards on seven targets. He voiced his frustrations about allegedly not receiving the ball enough. Through the loss against the Rams, Samuel is third in targets with 71 and has 34 carries.

Rice dropped some hard truths in an interview with 95.7 The Game in San Francisco on Monday.

"I would’ve been p----d at myself, I would’ve been p----d at the whole scenario, and I would go to work, go to work on the football field, during practice, and if you do it during practice you’re going to be able to do it during the game," Rice said. "That ball that he dropped, after you complain about not getting that many touches? You cannot drop the football because everybody is going to get down on you, and they’re going to come after you.

BENGALS STAR TEE HIGGINS RESPONDS TO SUPPORT FROM JOE BURROW, JA'MARR CHASE WITH FREE AGENCY LOOMING

"I never said anything about not getting touches or anything like that. I just worked, man. I just kept working, and if you show it during practice, they're going to make the call during the actual football game where you're going to have opportunities, where you can make catches, get into a rhythm and be productive."

Samuel, as well as the entire 49ers team, is in the midst of a down year.

He has 43 catches for 569 yards and a touchdown catch in 13 games. He also has 95 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. The numbers are among the lowest of his career and a far cry from the Pro Bowl and All-Pro season he had in 2021.

San Francisco is 6-8.

49ers suspend De'Vondre Campbell after he refused to enter game vs Rams

16 December 2024 at 12:16

The San Francisco 49ers suspended linebacker De’Vondre Campbell on Monday after he refused to enter Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers lost the game 12-6.

49ers general manager John Lynch announced the three-game suspension in a statement.

"We have suspended De'Vondre Campbell Sr. for three games due to conduct detrimental to the team. We will have no further comment on the matter," he said.

Campbell lost his starting job when Dre Greenlaw came back from the Achilles tear he suffered in a Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan wanted to put Campbell into the game because Greenlaw was aching from soreness in his Achilles tendon, Campbell refused. Shanahan said he never got an explanation about why the linebacker refused to play.

PATRICK MAHOMES INJURES ANKLE AFTER CRITICAL REMARKS ABOUT CHIEFS' TIGHT SCHEDULE

Shanahan said Friday that he didn’t expect Campbell to be with the team from Week 16 onward.

"We're working through the semantics of exactly how to deal with it," he said, via ESPN. "But I mean you guys heard from me last night, you guys heard from our players, his actions from the game, it's not something you can do to your team or your teammates and still get to be a part of our team.

"We're working through exactly the semantics of it right now, but we'll handle the situation appropriately."

Campbell signed a one-year deal with the 49ers in the offseason as Greenlaw was on the mend.

The one-time All-Pro spent the previous three years with the Green Bay Packers, a year with the Arizona Cardinals and four years with the Atlanta Falcons.

In 2023, Campbell had 75 tackles and a pass breakup.

The 49ers fell to 6-8 with the loss to the Rams.

49ers' Charvarius Ward opens up about loss of 1-year-old daughter

16 December 2024 at 06:42

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward admitted the team has had a "dark cloud" hanging over it all season long amid a spate of injuries and off-field issues.

Ward suffered his own tragedy earlier this year when his 1-year-old daughter passed away. He opened up a bit about it in an interview with The Athletic on Thursday night.

"It’s been hard for me personally to go to work every day, every game — even to practice or go to meetings," he told the outlet. "I almost left a couple of times. S---, I know fans probably hate me (for saying that), but f--- it, it’s real life. It’s bigger than football.

"This is the hardest time of my life for sure."

Ward missed three games from Nov. 10 to Nov. 24 and returned to the 49ers for their 35-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 1.

He announced that his daughter, Amani Joy, had passed away on Oct. 29.

"We are heartbroken that our beautiful baby girl, Amani Joy passed away on Monday morning. She was the best blessing we could have asked for, and her joyous spirit made us smile from ear to ear. She taught us to have patience, trust, and a positive outlook on life. She showed us true strength and bravery. She overcame adversity at a young age and was always happy, lighting up every room with her smile.

JOSH ALLEN DAZZLES IN BILLS’ WIN OVER LIONS IN HIGH-SCORING BOUT

"Having the privilege of being her parents and seeing the world through her eyes has changed us for the better. She will forever be daddy’s best friend and mommy’s little girl. We’ll miss you and love you forever, Amani Joy."

The San Francisco Chronicle detailed Ward and girlfriend Monique Cook’s parenthood journey earlier this year, beginning with their fear after learning their baby had Down syndrome after a blood test, and a heart defect was spotted in an ultrasound.

Ward was the optimist in this situation, telling Cook that she would be a beautiful girl, and regardless of what happened, they would love and take care of her.

Amani underwent open-heart surgery 10 months after being born, and Ward admitted that seeing his baby at night when he would lay her down to sleep just filled him with joy.

Ward, a 28-year-old undrafted free agent, is in his seventh NFL season. He began his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, helping the team win a Super Bowl before joining the 49ers in 2022.

The 49ers gave Ward as much time as he needed to get back.

Taylor Swift remarks on 49ers' Brock Purdy: 'He put me through a lot last February'

15 December 2024 at 13:50

Brock Purdy was maybe one or two plays away from helping the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl championship over the Kansas City Chiefs with an apparently nervous Taylor Swift in attendance.

Swift, who is dating Chiefs star Travis Kelce, made an appearance at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, on Thursday and was asked whether the song "Paper Rings" was about Purdy.

"I don’t mind Brock Purdy. He put me through a lot last February. I was very stressed for a second," Swift said while signing an autograph for a child.

Purdy was 23-of-38 with 255 passing yards and a touchdown pass. The touchdown pass to Jauan Jennings in the fourth quarter put the 49ers up three points with 11:22 left in the game.

The teams traded field goals to force overtime, and San Francisco went up three early in the overtime frame. However, Patrick Mahomes got the last laugh and his 3-yard pass to Mecole Hardman gave Kansas City its championship.

Swift and Kelce celebrated on the field with a few kisses.

Swift’s song "Paper Rings" was off of her "Lover" album, which was released in 2019.

For what it’s worth, Purdy was still at Iowa State when "Lover" was released to the masses. He took over as the 49ers’ starting quarterback during the 2022 season and won his first 10 regular-season starts.

Purdy has suffered through an injury this season. He has 3,174 passing yards and 15 touchdown passes in 13 games.

49ers' De'Vondre Campbell's refusal to enter game likely to lead to suspension: report

15 December 2024 at 09:07

San Francisco 49ers linebacker De’Vondre Campbell stunned the NFL world on Thursday night when it was learned he refused to go into the game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan wanted to put Campbell into the game because Greenlaw was aching from soreness in his Achilles tendon, Campbell refused. Shanahan said he never got an explanation about why the linebacker refused to play.

On Sunday, NFL Network reported that the 49ers are likely to suspend Campbell for the remainder of the season.

Shanahan said Friday that he didn’t expect Campbell to be with the team from Week 16 onward.

Rams outlast 49ers with zero touchdowns scored in pivotal NFC West matchup

13 December 2024 at 03:49

Not a single touchdown was scored, but the Los Angeles Rams picked up a crucial NFC West victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night, 12-6.

The Rams moved to 8-6, while the 49ers fell to 6-8.

Both quarterbacks, Matthew Stafford for the Rams and Brock Purdy of the 49ers, had fantastic Week 14 performances, leading many to believe that this game would be an offensive onslaught.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Instead, with some first-half rain not helping matters, both offenses were out of sync, and big defensive plays were being made to stymie some of the game’s best weapons with the ball in their hands.

The first half only saw six total points put on the board, with the 49ers’ Jake Moody nailing a 53-yard field goal on the team’s second offensive possession, and Josh Karty finally getting the Rams on the board with 1:05 left in the half to make it a 3-3 game.

All the other drives ended in punts – 11 to be exact – as the Levi’s Stadium crowd began to murmur about the lack of scoring.

CAN PLAYMAKING WR PUKA NACUA KEEP THE RAMS IN THE PLAYOFF RACE?

When the second half began, back-to-back field goals made it 6-6, though the Rams were able to be the first team in the red zone with the ball as far as the 49ers’ four-yard line. But nonetheless, no one found pay dirt.

The Rams’ were able to get their first lead of the game after forcing a three-and-out, and Puka Nacua, who had two scores and over 170 yards last game, broke out for a 51-yard catch to immediately get back in 49ers' territory.

However, Los Angeles was unable to convert from two yards out for a first down, and Karty came on again to make his third field goal of the game.

Purdy and the 49ers’ offense were dying to respond, and the signal caller took a shot deep downfield to Jauan Jennings, another receiver who scored twice in Week 14. However, veteran Darious Williams was the recipient of the pass for an interception.

With head coach Kyle Shanahan not believing his eyes about how his offense was playing, Stafford and head coach Sean McVay were looking to be methodical to churn the clock and hoped they could close out the game.

That is exactly what happened, as Stafford dissected a great 49ers defense, picking up key first downs in the pass game, while Kyren Williams chewed up yardage as well.

Karty nailed his fourth field goal with just 20 seconds left to force the 49ers to score a touchdown for the win. With not enough time left to make that happen, the Rams moved themselves into great playoff chances, while the 49ers’ hopes got even slimmer than they already were.

Looking at the box score, it was not too pretty as Stafford went 16-for-27 for 160 yards, but Nacua accounted for 97 of those on seven receptions. A shocker, though, was Cooper Kupp not catching a single pass on three targets.

Williams also tallied 108 yards on the ground on 29 carries to lead the way on those scoring drives.

For the 49ers, Purdy was 14-for-31 for 142 yards with his interception, and George Kittle was his top receiver, securing four catches for 61 yards.

It is also worth noting that Deebo Samuel Sr., who posted that he wants to get the ball more after not producing his usual amount this season, had a shaky performance in this one. He finished with just three catches for 16 yards and three yards on two carries.

Also, perhaps the game’s only touchdown would’ve come when Purdy hit Samuel right in between the numbers on a slant route with tons of open field to work with in Rams territory. However, Samuel dropped it and boos showered the field along with the rain, as 49ers fans knew what was said by their star entering this matchup.

Deebo Samuel doubles down on frustrations after social media post flagged by community notes on X

11 December 2024 at 07:42

San Francisco 49ers star wideout Deebo Samuel took to social media this week to vent about his lack of production, only to get trolled by X’s community notes. The post was later deleted, but not before creating a media frenzy.

Samuel is currently in the least productive stretch of his six-year NFL career, but the 49ers star seemingly pointed the finger at his quarterback in a post on X, writing in a post, "Not struggling at all just not getting the ball!!!!!!!"

The post, which was later deleted, was hit with a community note that read, "He leads the team in drops. He is struggling."

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, Samuel was asked to expand on what was said in the post and admitted feeling "frustrated."

"You read what you read. A little frustrated, for sure."

Samuel is averaging just 2.9 yards on his 32 carries and is on pace for his worst season in terms of catches and receiving yards per game with 40 receptions for 553 yards. He hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 6.

CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY’S BACKUP LANDS ON IR AS 49ERS LOSE 2 RUNNING BACKS IN ROLLER-COASTER SEASON

Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters on Tuesday, explaining that he understands "Deebo saying that."

"Deebo wants to help us out and the only way he helps us out is getting the ball more, and we’d like to get it to him more and we’ll continue to work at that."

Shanahan added that he wished Samuel would’ve kept the issue offline, but said the incident is "water under the bridge."

Brock Purdy, who seemed to be the subject of Samuel’s post, echoed that sentiment.

"Deebo and I talk all the time and he’s like one of my best friends on this team. I absolutely love Deebo and what he’s done for me and helping me out," the quarterback said Tuesday.

"I think he’s right. He’s doing great right now with what we ask of him in the offense. And he is not struggling or anything. It’s just, like I’ve said before about guys like Ricky [Pearsall] or last year with Aiyuk for a little bit. There’s just moments, I guess, throughout seasons where guys just don’t get the ball, just depending on the scheme or what the defensive scheme is and them taking guys away. So, I want to get Deebo the ball every play if I could. I want to have him break all the records as best as possible. I want Deebo to do Deebo things and we all do in this building. So, that’s just how the games have gone. But I love my guy and I’m going to do everything I can to give him the ball."

Christian McCaffrey’s backup lands on IR as 49ers lose 2 running backs in roller-coaster season

2 December 2024 at 14:39

Just as the San Francisco 49ers confirmed Christian McCaffrey suffered a season-ending PCL injury in the loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, his backup is also heading to injured reserve.

Jordan Mason, who filled in admirably for McCaffrey as he dealt with Achilles tendinitis in both his ankles at the start of the season, will miss at least the next four games due to a high-ankle sprain also suffered in the blowout loss to the Bills

The 49ers have no choice but to turn to rookie Isaac Guerendo to be their lead running back for what could possibly be the rest of the season with just five games remaining.

For McCaffrey, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan noted that his star could "potentially" be out for the remainder of the season.

"I think PCL is usually a couple weeks, but I’m not exactly sure yet," Shanahan said prior to learning that it’s six weeks for him to heal with not that many games remaining on the schedule.

JOSH ALLEN MAKES NFL HISTORY AS BILLS CLINCH AFC EAST WITH WIN OVER 49ERS IN DRIVING SNOW

At 5-7 after losing three straight, the 49ers are grasping at straws hoping they can go on a run to end the year and get back into the playoffs.

But they currently sit in last place in the NFC West, though the division-leading Seattle Seahawks are only 7-5.

Considering that a running game is crucial for Shanahan’s offense to work, he will be asking a lot of his rookie running back to carry a workload that San Fran was hoping McCaffrey could do after healing his Achilles injuries.

McCaffrey had 53 rushing yards on seven attempts and two catches for 14 yards before leaving the game on his own power. During one of those runs, he slid after feeling something wasn’t right.

McCaffrey has played in just four games this season, rushing for 202 yards with no touchdowns on the ground nor through the air.

As for Mason, he broke out earlier this season, rushing for more than 100 yards in three of his first four games as the lead back with McCaffrey hurt. He slowed down a bit but has still smashed his career highs with 789 yards and three touchdowns.

Guerendo, a fourth-round pick out of Louisville, has tallied 246 yards and two touchdowns on 42 rush attempts over 12 games thus far.

"As much as I tried to prepare myself for our meeting, I wasn’t prepared nor would I ever be. 49ers' Christian McCaffrey suffered 'potentially' season-ending knee injury vs Bills, coach says

2 December 2024 at 09:30

San Francisco 49ers star Christian McCaffrey left Sunday night’s 35-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills with a knee injury, but it appeared to be much worse than that.

McCaffrey is believed to have suffered a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury and could "potentially" see his season come to an end, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

"I think PCL is usually a couple weeks, but I’m not exactly sure yet," he added.

The running back was a focal point of the 49ers’ game plan early against the Bills. As the snow came down on the field at Highmark Stadium, McCaffrey ran the ball seven times and was targeted three times through the air.

He had 53 rushing yards and two catches for 14 yards before he left the field.

It was a crushing blow to a team that has been riddled with injuries on both sides of the ball. The snow made matters much worse for San Francisco. Brock Purdy had only 94 passing yards on 18 attempts.

"He’s one of the best running backs in the league," Purdy said of McCaffrey. "When you lose him like that, I think it takes away just sort of how we do some things in the offense."

TEXANS' AZEEZ AL-SHAAIR TAKES AIM AT 'RACIST AND ISLAMOPHOBIC FANS' IN APOLOGY FOR HIT ON TREVOR LAWRENCE

Shanahan said he believed McCaffrey hurt himself after getting tackled after an 18-yard run in the second quarter. He went down a few plays later.

"It looked like he just got shoe-stringed there, he was about to break a house call," Shanahan said. "It was frustrating. He had a great week of practice. I could feel his urgency and stuff. Thought he came out great, looking real good."

McCaffrey has been on the shelf for most of the season. The reigning Offensive Player of the Year missed the first eight games of the season with Achilles tendinitis.

In the four games he has played, he has 202 rushing yards as well as 15 catches for 146 yards. He has not scored this season.

Josh Allen makes NFL history as Bills clinch AFC East with win over 49ers in driving snow

1 December 2024 at 20:12

Josh Allen made every play a quarterback could make and more.

Fresh off his engagement to pop star Hailee Steinfeld, Allen had to deal with the driving lake-effect snow that plagued the Buffalo area over the holiday weekend and into Sunday night against the San Francisco 49ers.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Allen definitely had more pep in his step as the Bills took down the 49ers, 35-10. Buffalo also clinched the AFC East division for the fifth straight season.

The superstar quarterback got into the scoring column with a 7-yard pass to wide receiver Mack Hollins before halftime. Buffalo had a 21-3 lead going into the locker room but were far from finished.

Allen was credited for a receiving touchdown in the third quarter after Amari Cooper lateralled the pass from Allen back to the quarter, who then ran in for a score. Allen officially had zero catches but seven receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.

To cap off the night, Allen ran for an 8-yard score in the fourth quarter to put the game completely out of reach. Mitchell Trubisky took over from there.

STEELERS TIE NFL RECORD WITH 21 CONSECUTIVE NON-LOSING SEASONS AFTER WIN OVER BENGALS

Allen became the first NFL quarterback to throw for a touchdown, run for a touchdown and catch a touchdown in a single game since the merger, the team said.

He had 148 passing yards on 13 completions as well has 18 rushing yards.

Bills running backs James Cook and Ray Davis also were able to get on the board. Cook had a 65-yard touchdown run while Davis had a 5-yard touchdown scamper. Cook had 107 rushing yards on the night and Davis had 59.

The 49ers had no answer to the Bills’ offense the entire night. Players didn’t appear to get any type of feel for the snowy conditions as they were slipping and sliding across the surface.

San Francisco’s best hope was to get Christian McCaffrey every possible opportunity. But the running back suffered a knee injury in the first half and never returned.

Brock Purdy was under 100 yards passing. He was 11-of-18 with 94 passing yards. He was sacked twice. Isaac Guerendo scored San Francisco’s lone touchdown.

Buffalo is now on a seven-game winning streak and have 10 wins on the season.

NFL fans help clear snow from Bills' stadium ahead of game vs 49ers: 'Ready for football'

1 December 2024 at 16:42

The San Francisco 49ers will take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night as wicked weather plagued the New York area and covered Highmark Stadium in snow.

Fans did their best to shovel out the snow as kickoff neared. Photos showed several people embarking on the task of trying to clear the snow from seats, walkways and the field.

"Go Bills!"

49ers' Fred Warner continues to compete, makes no excuses for broken bone in ankle: 'That's the NFL'

27 November 2024 at 17:55

The defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers have dealt with more than their fair share of injuries this season.

Quarterback Brock Purdy missed the Niners' Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers as he nursed a shoulder injury. Brandon Aiyuk appeared in just seven games before an ACL injury forced San Francisco to place the wide receiver on the injured list. Christian McCaffrey missed several games at the start of the season. Pass rusher Nick Bosa and dual-threat receiver Deebo Samuel have also missed time due to injury in 2024.

Fred Warner is one key player who has managed to remain active in each of the Niners' games so far this year. However, the three-time All-Pro linebacker's availability this season has not come without some considerable challenges. On Wednesday, Warner revealed that he has battled a painful ankle injury since late September.

Warner said he sustained the injury in the first half of a Week 4 game against the New England Patriots. He remained on the Niners sideline for the second half of the game.

49ERS' DEEBO SAMUEL RESPONDS TO TERRELL OWENS CRITICISM: 'CUT IT FAM'

"It's something I deal with every game," Warner said. "I get on that table before every game and get it shot up every single game just to be able to roll. But it's not an excuse. It's just what it is. That's the NFL. You're not going to be healthy. You've got to go out there, you've got to find ways to execute, to play at a high level and to win every single week."

Warner has only been listed as a limited participant in practice one time since he suffered the ankle injury. While the injury has likely hindered Warner at times this season, he continues to have a productive season. The star linebacker has 84 tackles and two interceptions on the season.

Warner suggested he would be willing to continue to play through the pain this year and acknowledged the low probability of the injury healing as he continued to play on it.

"Any time you fracture a bone, if you just continue to play on it, the bone is usually not going to be able to heal itself," Warner said. "So, just got to continue to just fight through."

San Francisco has dropped their last two games. The Buffalo Bills host the 49ers on Dec. 1.

Josh Jacobs scores 3 touchdowns as Packers dominate injury-riddled 49ers

24 November 2024 at 17:07

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs scored three touchdowns as the team took advantage of an injury-riddled San Francisco 49ers to win, 38-10, on Sunday.

Jacobs got on the board in the second quarter with a touchdown run from the goal line. He added two more one-yard touchdown scores throughout the rest of the game. He added 106 yards on 26 carries to help push the Packers to the big win.

It was the first time he had three rushing touchdowns in a game since he was with the Las Vegas Raiders. In October 2022, he scored three times against the Houston Texans.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love was 13-of-23 with 163 passing yards. He had two touchdown passes in the win.

He found Tucker Kraft in the first quarter to get on the board. The two teamed up for an 11-yard touchdown. He threw his second touchdown pass of the day to Malik Heath with 4:14 left in the game. It was more than enough to get the Packers the win.

Green Bay finished with 325 total yards and had 22 first downs on 11 drives.

San Francisco was bitten by the injury bug.

The 49ers were missing Brock Purdy, Trent Williams and Nick Bosa. Purdy was dealing with a shoulder injury, Williams suffered an ankle injury and Bosa left last week’s game with a hip and oblique issue and didn’t play against the Packers.

Brandon Allen started for San Francisco. It was his first start since January 2022, when he was with the Cincinnati Bengals. It showed.

He was 17-of-29 with 199 passing yards, a touchdown pass to George Kittle and an interception. Kittle had six catches for 82 yards.

Christian McCaffrey failed to get going as he has yet to fully jet out of the gate since his return from his own injury struggles. He had 31 rushing yards on 11 carries. He also had three catches for 37 yards.

Green Bay improved to 8-3 on the season and San Francisco fell to 5-6.

49ers' Deebo Samuel responds to Terrell Owens criticism: 'Cut it fam'

22 November 2024 at 19:48

Former 49ers star Terrell Owens and current San Francisco wide receiver Deebo Samuel engaged in a war of words this week.

Owens, who racked up 8,572 receiving yards over his standout eight-year run with the Niners, recently questioned whether Samuel was consistently giving his best effort when he was on the football field.

"Deebo is not really playing up to Deebo's standards," Owens said during a recent appearance on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco.

Owens went on to suggest that Samuel was not consistently giving his best effort when he was on the football field. He also took aim at Samuel's fashion.

"It seems like he's more focused on his pregame attire than the game. If we can shift that focus, maybe that can energize and create some more production from an offensive standpoint. I'm just being tongue-in-cheek with that."

49ERS' BROCK PURDY, NICK BOSA RULED OUT FOR POTENTIAL SEASON-DEFINING GAME VS. PACKERS

Samuel is often photographed during his pregame walk to the locker room. The 49ers social media account frequently shares photos of Samuel's choice of clothing. The 28-year-old's fashion statements have made headlines throughout the season.

Samuel, who earned First-team All-Pro honors in 2021, apparently caught wind of Owens comments and issued a four-word response. "T.O cut it fam!!!!" Samuel wrote on X on Thursday.

From a statistical standpoint, Samuel's 2024 production could be considered underwhelming. He has recorded 490 receiving yards over the nine games he's appeared in this season. The normally dual-threat playmaker has just one receiving touchdown and one rushing touchdown this year.

Samuel has only racked up 79 yards on the ground in 2024. He finished 2021 with a career-best 365 rushing yards and ended the 2023 campaign with 225 yards on the ground.

Owens is a Pro Football Hall of Famer and developed a reputation for being one of the most hard-working players on any team he was on during his NFL career. But his career was also riddled with controversy, which at times prompted questions about his maturity. Owens' off-the-field antics merely exacerbated some of those concerns.

The 49ers will try to bolster their playoff odds when they play the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 24.

49ers' Brock Purdy, Nick Bosa ruled out for potential season-defining game vs. Packers

22 November 2024 at 15:24

The San Francisco 49ers, 5-5 and in last place in the NFC West, desperately need a win if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Now, they have an even steeper uphill climb after it was announced two of their stars will not play Sunday.

Quarterback Brock Purdy and defensive end Nick Bosa will be sidelined this weekend with injuries against the Green Bay Packers.

Purdy, who is dealing with a shoulder injury in his throwing arm, was a limited participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday. After getting an MRI, he did not practice Friday. Bosa did not practice all week with his hip/oblique injury.

On top of that, Trent Williams did not practice for a third consecutive day as he deals with an ankle injury, but he is listed as questionable.

The Niners have been plagued by injuries all season. Christian McCaffrey did not see the field until Week 10, and Brandon Aiyuk tore an ACL earlier this season. Tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Deebo Samuel have also missed time.

STEELERS' GEORGE PICKENS GETS INTO IT WITH BROWNS PLAYER ON FINAL PLAY OF BLIZZARD GAME, HELD BACK BY SECURITY

Green Bay cornerback Jaire Alexander will also miss the gane with a hamstring injury.

Brandon Allen will start under center for the 49ers.

The injuries will make the 49ers underdogs for the first time since 2022. They had been favorites in 36 consecutive games, the longest streak in the Super Bowl era.

Purdy is completing 66.0% of his passes this year and has thrown for 2,613 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Bosa has at least a half sack in each of his last four games and at least one in his last three. He has seven overall on the season and aims to make his fifth Pro Bowl in six seasons.

NFL.com says the Niners have a 30% chance of making the playoffs. They currently sit in the 10th seed, and a win would bump those odds up to 48%. A loss would give them just a 15% chance at the postseason.
