New Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan will pick up where Pat Gelsinger left off

After a little over three months, Intel has a new CEO to replace ousted former CEO Pat Gelsinger. Intel's board announced that Lip-Bu Tan will begin as Intel CEO on March 18, taking over from interim co-CEOs David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus.

Gelsinger was booted from the CEO position by Intel's board on December 2 after several quarters of losses, rounds of layoffs, and canceled or spun-off side projects. Gelsinger sought to turn Intel into a foundry company that also manufactured chips for fabless third-party chip design companies, putting it into competition with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company(TSMC), Samsung, and others, a plan that Intel said it was still committed to when it let Gelsinger go.

Intel said that Zinsner would stay on as executive vice president and CFO, and Johnston Holthaus would remain CEO of the Intel Products Group, which is mainly responsible for Intel's consumer products. These were the positions both executives held before serving as interim co-CEOs.

Dem senator behind social media fail responds to Elon Musk's offer

6 March 2025 at 13:14

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., who is taking credit for a recently criticized Democratic mashup of identical social media posts, turned down Tesla CEO Elon Musk's extravagant offer to the mind behind the "cringe video."

At least 22 Democratic lawmakers participated in a "S--- That Ain’t True" social media campaign ahead of President Donald Trump's address to a joint session of Congress, posting identical videos to social media in a mashup against the president.Β

Musk made fun of the synchronized mashup on social media, offering in a post on X to buy a Cybertruck for anyone who can "provide proof of who wrote this particular piece of propaganda." Booker eventually took credit for it.

Asked on Capitol Hill if he wanted the Cybertruck offered by Musk, Booker burst into laughter and said, "No, I don't."

The video begins with a clip of Trump vowing to "bring prices down starting on day one" followed by a cut-in of the Senate Democrats saying in unison, "S--- That Ain’t True? That's what you just heard."

CONSERVATIVES FLIP SCRIPT ON SENATE DEMS PUSHING IDENTICAL TALKING POINTS AGAINST TRUMP: β€˜LIKE ROBOTS’

"Since day one of Donald Trump’s presidency, prices are up, not down. Inflation is getting worse, not better. Prices of groceries, gas, housing, rent, eggs β€” they’re all getting more expensive. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has done nothing to lower costs for you," the Democrats, including senators Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., said in the video.

Booker said the video was created with the intention of reaching more people online.

"We're trying to do more things as a caucus that break through. Clearly, this was very successful," the senator said.

The video drew criticism from Republicans on social media, including Rep. Virginia Foxx,Β R-N.C., who called it "weird" in a post on X.

However, Booker thanked conservatives for sharing the post.

"In this world where people are competing for attention, it got attention and got many more views, especially because people on the right kept elevating our content, which I appreciate," Booker said.

Trump freezes aid to South Africa, promotes resettlement of refugees facing race discrimination

7 February 2025 at 18:33

President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order cutting all foreign aid to South Africa, citing concerns about the country "seizing" ethnic minority Afrikaners’ agricultural property without compensation.

Trump alleged South Africa's recently enacted Expropriation Act 13 of 2024 "dismantles equal opportunity in employment, education, and business."

The order notes "hateful rhetoric" and government actions have been "fueling disproportionate violence against racially disfavored landowners."

SOUTH AFRICAN PRESIDENT SIGNS CONTROVERSIAL LAND SEIZURE BILL, ERODING PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTSΒ

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa previously released a statement arguing that no land was confiscated.

"We look forward to engaging with the Trump administration over our land reform policy and issues of bilateral interest," according to the statement. "We are certain that out of those engagements, we will share a better and common understanding over these matters."

The act permits the country to take land for a public purpose or in the public interest, while offering just andΒ equitable compensation.Β

However, Fox News Digital previously reported expropriation has yet to happen.

Elon Musk, leader of the DOGE team, publicly commented on the matter, accusing Ramaphosa of having "openly racist ownership laws.

The executive order also claims South Africa has taken "aggressive" positions toward the U.S. by accusing Israel of genocide - instead of Hamas, and "reinvigorating" its relationship with Iran to develop commercial, military, and nuclear arrangements.

Pointing to those concerns, the executive order states the U.S. cannot support the South African government's alleged commission of rights violations.

In addition to eliminating aid and assistance, the order notes the U.S. will promote the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored, race-based discrimination -which includes racially discriminatory property confiscation.

The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security will prioritize humanitarian relief, including admission and resettlement through the United States Refugee Admissions Program, according to the order.

Conservatives rally around 'rock star' Leavitt after first White House briefing: 'Competence is back'

28 January 2025 at 12:20

Conservatives on social media praised newly minted White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt's performance in her first press conference on Tuesday and made the case that she is a welcome change from the previous administration.

Leavitt stepped to the White House press room podium on Tuesday and answered questions from over a dozen reporters with various political affiliations. She spoke for almost an hour.

As Leavitt addressed the media, conservatives on social media reacted with positive reviews on her handling of the questions and the variety of reporters she called on.Β

"Karoline Leavitt is a rock star," actor James Woods posted on X. "These next four years are going to be sublime."

INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING DIRECT ASSISTANCE WON'T BE IMPACTED BY FEDERAL FUNDING FREEZE, PRESS SECRETARY SAYS

"Well @karolineleavitt is certainly up for the job," Fox News contributor Joe Jones posted on X. "Impressive, but not surprising."

"Both KJP and Jen Psaki were extremely dependent on their oversized binders jam-packed with scripted talking points," talk show host Addison Smith posted on X. "Today, @karolineleavitt took to the podium for the first time with a couple sheets of paper that she barely even glanced at. Competence is back."

TRUMP WHITE HOUSE ROLLS OUT SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT TO HOLD 'FAKE NEWS ACCOUNTABLE'

"Karoline Leavitt is 30 minutes into a Press Briefing and she hasn't looked up a single answer yet," Fox News contributor and comedian Jimmy Faila posted on X. "KJP would have gone through three binders and a Magic 8 Ball by now. THIS is why people wanna ditch DEI for Meritocracy."

"How refreshing to have a Press Sec at the podium who can answer questions directly and without reading word for word from a script," Coign Vice President Cassie Smedile Docksey posted on X. "We are so back."

Leavitt, 27, is the youngest press secretary in the nation's history – unseating President Richard Nixon’s press secretary Ron Ziegler, who was 29 when he took the same position in 1969. Leavitt was a fierce defender of Trump throughout his hard-fought campaign against former Vice President Kamala Harris, and also made her own political mark with a congressional run in 2022.Β

Leavitt served in Trump’s first administration asΒ assistant press secretary before working as New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik’s communications director following the 2020 election. She launched a congressional campaign in her home state of New Hampshire during the 2022 cycle, winning her primary but losing the election to a Democrat.Β

Leavitt picked up the torch of press secretary from the Biden administration's chief spokesperson, Karine Jean-Pierre.Β
