The 67th Grammy Awards were held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Celebrity couples like Mark Manio and Scott Hoying hit the red carpet in coordinating ensembles.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend wore coordinating dark looks.
The 67th Grammy Awards took place on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the venue formerly known as Staples Center and home to the Los Angeles Lakers.
In typical Grammys fashion, the biggest names in music and entertainment came out in full force to celebrate the biggest songs, albums, and artists of the year.
Some of the night's biggest nominees, from Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas, to Chappell Roan, walked the red carpet in eye-catching looks.
Celebrity couples like Chrissy Teigen and John Legend also made a splash, hitting the red carpet in coordinating looks that embodied the phrase "power couple."
Photos show the best-dressed celebrity couples at this year's Grammys.
Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley
Antonoff, a six-time nominee this year, wore a black suit with a white T-shirt underneath. His wife, Qualley, wore an ivory tulle skirt paired with white ballet flats.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend
Teigen wore an eye-catching mermaid dress designed by Christian Siriano, while Legend wore a uniquely patterned brown suit designed by Louis Vuitton.
Louis Partridge and Olivia Rodrigo
Partridge didn't walk the red carpet with his girlfriend, but the two were spotted inside. He wore a black suit with a white T-shirt.
Rodrigo walked the red carpet in a vintage Versace dress with a plunging neckline and multiple cutouts.
Mark Manio and Scott Hoying
The Pentatonix singer opted for a monochromatic brown look with a jacket accented with a large rose brooch.
His husband, Manio, complemented him well with a brown shirt and blazer, and light-pink pants.
Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz
Klum and Kaulitz both chose light neutrals for the evening. Klum wore a strapless silver gown with detached puffy sleeves, while her husband, the Tokio Hotel guitarist Kaulitz, wore an all-white look with beige sneakers.
Rika Tischendorf and Babyface
Babyface wore a black suit with lapels encrusted in crystals. His girlfriend, Tischendorf, wore a skin-colored gown also covered in crystals.
Claudia Sulewski and Finneas
Sulewski wore a jade-green dress with a cowl neckline. She walked the red carpet with her boyfriend, Finneas, a four-time nominee this year. He wore a monochromatic brown suit designed by Zegna.
Paris Hilton and Carter Reum
Hilton wore a '70s-inspired shimmering golden gown with a matching cape and gloves. Reum wore a black checkered suit jacket with black pants.
The 67th annual Grammy Awards are underway at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Some celebrities nailed the glamorous vibe of the event, but others missed the mark.
Chrishell Stause wore a white jumpsuit that was a little too bridal.
Music's biggest stars often take major fashion risks at the Grammy Awards β¦ but they don't always pay off.
At the 67th Grammy Awards, which are taking place on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, some stars got it right with their red-carpet outfits. Chappell Roan and Billie Eilish wore high-fashion looks ripped straight from the runway, while others like Raye and Kacey Musgraves leaned into classic, sophisticated glamour.
However, other looks on the red carpet fell short β some were too gaudy, others overwhelmed the celebrities wearing them, and some were just far too daring.
Here are looks that missed the mark at the 2025 Grammys.
Kelsea Ballerini
Ballerini's makeup and hair were flawless, and the neckline shape of her black beaded minidress added intrigue to an otherwise safe option.
However, the entire Tamara Ralphlook was overwhelmed by the oversized off-the-shoulder opera coat that trailed behind her.
Chrishell Stause
The "Selling Sunset" star's Galia Lahav look, which featured a lace, boned bodice and wide-legged pants, would've worked as a white jumpsuit, but the added skirt is too much β it's more bridal than red carpet.
Jaden Smith
Smith has never been one for subtle red-carpet fashion, and the 2025 Grammys were no different. The castle headpiece veered too odd for our tastes, and his Louis Vuitton suit was part-classic, part-cartoonish with its oversized arms and nipped-in waist.
Drew Afualo
The TikTok star's look had too much going on. The pink and gray mismatched panels almost look unfinished, and the triangular clasp on the waist doesn't match with the rest of the look.
Lakecia Benjamin
The saxophonist would look more at home at Comic-Con in this superhero-inspired golden ensemble.
It featured a spandex one-piece, a shimmering gold cape, and metallic golden boots.
Noah Kahan
Kahan's ivory suit and pants were an odd pairing with a pure-white shirt and tie β and the pants look like they could use an iron or a fresh press.
Sierra Ferrell
Grammy winner Sierra Ferrell walked the red carpet in a pearl-covered ball gown that was more costume than couture. The look featured a pearlescent tulle overskirt that overwhelmed her, and the matching scepter and headpiece were just a little too over-the-top.
Poppy
Poppy walked the red carpet in a look by Simone Rocha that featured a red jacket that slightly resembled a raincoat and a light-pink tulle skirt. The final look seemed a touch too juvenile for the glamorous event.
St. Vincent
St. Vincent wore a business-inspired look that featured an open-front, black blazer, and fishnet tights. Finished with a pair of white dress socks, the look felt too casual for the Grammys red carpet.
The 67th annual Grammys were held at the home of the Los Angeles Lakers, the Crypto.com Arena, and hosted for the fifth time by comedian and former "Daily Show" host Trevor Noah.
Grammy nominee Chappell Roan walked the red carpet in an archival gown by Jean Paul Gaultier from 2003 that featured images of ballerinas and a pin-cushion boutonnière, while Olivia Rodrigo attended in a vintage Versace look and Tiffany & Co. jewels.
Photos show this year's best-dressed Grammy attendees.
Chappell Roan
The first-time Grammy nominee wore a vintage gown by Jean Paul Gaultier from the design house's spring/summer couture 2003 collection.
Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina Carpenter wore a backless gown by JW Anderson with feather detailing.
Billie Eilish and Finneas
The sibling duo rocked matching monochromatic looks. Finneas wore Zegna, while Billie Eilish wore a full Prada ensemble and hat.
Cardi B
Cardi B wore a sequined gown by Roberto Cavalli with a flowing feather train.
The "That's So True" singer wore a custom gown and veil by Chanel.
Troye Sivan
The singer, who toured with Grammy nominee Charli XCX last year, wore a custom Prada suit.
Chrissy Teigen
Chrissy Teigen wore a daring sheer gown by Christian Siriano.
Benson Boone
Benson Boone elevated a classic menswear silhouette in Dolce & Gabbana.
Charli XCX
The "Guess" singer took to the red carpet in a custom gown by Ludovic de Saint Sernin for Jean Paul Gaultier and accessories by Bucherer Fine Jewelry.
Cynthia Erivo
The "Wicked" star walked the red carpet in Louis Vuitton.
Shaboozey
Shaboozey wore a grey-leather houndstooth jacket, black pants, and a De Beers brooch.
Kacey Musgraves
The "Deeper Well" singer wore a fringed gown by Ralph Lauren with a tank-style top.
Taylor Swift
The pop superstar, who could break the record for most album of the year wins, rocked a custom red minidress by Vivienne Westwood. She accessorized the look with red heels and a leg chain with a tiny "T."
Doechii
The "Denial is a River" singer walked the red carpet in a Thom Browne gown that resembled a suit and tie.
"I feel incredible," she told E! on the red carpet. "I'm in Thom Browne head to toe. I feel like a doll."
Olivia Rodrigo
Olivia Rodrigo walked the Grammys red carpet in a vintage Versace gown.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus wore a leather gown with bold cutouts by Saint Laurent.
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton wore a '70s-inspired gold gown and sheer cape.
Coco Jones
Coco Jones, who was nominated for best R&B song and best R&B performance, wore a red silk gown with bold cutouts.
Willow Smith
Willow Smith wore a bold star-covered lingerie set and flowing black jacket. Her look was designed by Versace.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga walked the red carpet in a custom Vivienne Westwood gown similar to the jacket worn on the cover of her coming album, "Mayhem."
Alicia Keys
Alicia Keys wore a Baroque-inspired gown with dramatic earrings.
J Balvin
J Balvin wore an oversize black coat on the Grammy Awards red carpet.
Mikayla Geier
Mikayla Geier wore a red gown with a balconette-style neckline.
Janelle MonΓ‘e
Janelle MonΓ‘e wore a navy Area suit, which was more toned down for the singer β a purposeful choice, her stylist Alexandra Mandelkorn told The Hollywood Reporter.
"We pulled things that were more avant-garde, a bit more wacky and out there, but that doesn't feel like the mindset right now," Mandelkorn said, referencing the recent Los Angeles wildfires.
She was once the youngest artist ever to receive the album of the year Grammy.
Swift made history at the 2024 Grammys with her fourth album of the year win.
Taylor Swift made history at the 2024 Grammy Awards when she took home album of the year for the fourth time.
However, that's not the first time Swift has broken records β¦ or smashed her own, for that matter.Β
In 2010, Swift became the youngest artist ever to receive the album of the year award with "Fearless." She's since surpassed the likes of Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, and Paul Simon, to become the most-awarded album of the year winner in history.
Following the success of her record-breaking Eras Tour, which grossed a whopping $2 billion, Forbes put Swift's estimated net worth at $1.6 billion.
Here's every time Taylor Swift has broken records throughout her career.
After Swift released her single "Our Song" in 2006, she became the youngest artist in history to have written and performed a No. 1 song on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Swift was just 17 years old when the song charted, making her the youngest artist in history to achieve the top spot on the country charts.
"Our Song" peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, becoming the third consecutive Hot 100 top-40 single from Swift's debut album, "Taylor Swift."Β
In 2009, Swift became the youngest person to ever win entertainer of the year at the Country Music Association Awards.
"I will never forget this moment because in this moment everything I have ever wanted has just happened to me," she said as she accepted the award, E! News reported.
She was 19 at the time.
At the 2010 Grammy Awards, Swift became the youngest artist ever to receive the album of the year award with "Fearless."
"Country music is my home," 20-year-old Swift later told reporters in the Grammys press room, Billboard reported. "Country music is my love. But to have it organically crossover this year? It's just been fantastic. I think the healthiest thing you can do when making music is [to] remove stereotypes from it."
Billie Eilish later beat Swift's record as the youngest recipient of the album of the year award. Eilish was 18 when she won the award in 2020.
When Taylor Swift won the Grammy for album of the year for "1989" in 2016, she became the first woman to win the coveted award twice.
Swift also won the award for best music video for "Bad Blood" and best pop vocal album for "1989."
At the 2021 Grammy Awards, Swift became the first woman to win album of the year three times.
At the 2021 Grammy Awards, Swift won album of the year for "Folklore," her ninth studio album, which she wrote and produced entirely during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The album is regarded as one of Swift's best works and became the best-selling album of 2020, Rolling Stone reported.
Taylor Swift made history at the 2024 Grammy Awards as the first artist to win album of the year four times.
At the 2024 Grammy Awards, Swift made history when she took home the top award for her 10th studio album, "Midnights," becoming the first and only person to have won the award four times.Β
In her acceptance speech, Swift thanked Jack Antonoff, her longtime collaborator and "Midnights" producer, and praised her fellow nominee Lana Del Rey.
"I would love to tell you that this is the best moment of my life, but I feel this happy when I finish a song or when I crack the code to a bridge that I love or when I'm shotlisting a music video or when I'm rehearsing with my dancers or my band or getting ready to go to Tokyo to play a show," Swift told the crowd.
Swift has won the most American Music Awards in history. She holds a whopping 40 awards.
Swift surpassed Michael Jackson, who holds 26 awards, and Whitney Houston, who holds 22.
Swift was also recognized with the "Artist of the Decade" award at the 2019 AMAs and performed a medley of some of her most popular songs.
Taylor Swift holds the record for most No. 1 hits on Billboard's US Digital Song Sales chart.
Swift broke the record, per Guinness World Records, with 29 hits, including recent releases like "Fortnight," featuring Post Malone, and classics like "Mine" and "Bad Blood."
Swift has been nominated for song of the year more times than any other artist in Grammy history.
She was nominated for six awards at the 2024 Grammys, including for song of the year for "Anti-Hero." This marked Swift's seventh nomination for song of the year, the most of any artist.
She broke the record again this year after she received a nomination for "Fortnight."
She has never won the award, but was previously nominated for "You Belong With Me," "Shake It Off," "Blank Space," "Lover," "Cardigan," and "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)."
Before 2024, she shared the record with Paul McCartney and Lionel Richie, who have six nominations in the category.
Following the release of "Red (Taylor's Version)," Swift broke Shania Twain's record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart.
Shania Twain previously held the record, spending 97 weeks at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. However, Swift broke the record in 2022, spending 99 weeks at the top of the country charts.
Taylor Swift's "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" is the longest song in history to reach No. 1.
The song, which is just over 10 minutes long, beat out longtime record holder Don McLean, whose eight-minute track "American Pie" held the top position for four weeks in 1972.
Swift's "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" is an extended version of her original song, which was released on "Red" in 2012.
Swift broke her own record for most video of the year wins at the 2024 VMAs.
She broke her own record after her "Fortnight" music video, which she also directed, won the top prize. In her acceptance speech, Swift talked about the energy on set while she was making the video and publicly acknowledged Chiefs player Travis Kelce as her boyfriend.
"Something that I'll always remember is that when, when I would finish a take, and I'd and I'd say cut, and we'd be done with that take, I would always just hear someone cheering from across the studio where we were shooting it, and that one person was my boyfriend, Travis," she said in the speech.
Swift is the only artist in history to claim all top 10 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 in a single week.
All 10 entries were from Swift's latest album "Midnights."
At the top of the list the week that Swift broke the record was "Anti-Hero," the album's lead single.
Swift broke her own record for the most-streamed album in a single day in Spotify history with the release of "The Tortured Poets Department."
Swift previously broke the record for the most-streamed album in a single day in Spotify history upon the release of "Midnights" and "1989 (Taylor's Version)."
"Red (Taylor's Version)" also previously broke Spotify's record for the most-streamed album in a day by a female artist on the day it was released, as Business Insider reported, with 122.9 million streams.
Swift also broke a Spotify record as the most-streamed artist in a single day on the platform.
"On April 19th, 2024, THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT became Spotify's most-streamed album in a single day, and Taylor Swift became the most-streamed artist in a single day in Spotify history," a post from Spotify on X wrote.
Swift had previously set this record with the release of "1989 (Taylor's Version)" and "Red (Taylor's Version)." Streams of Swift's catalog totaled over 122.9 million on the day "Red (Taylor's Version)" was released in 2021, about three-quarters of which came from the new album.Β
Swift had also previously set the record for most streams in a single day by a female artist.
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is the highest-grossing music tour ever.
In December 2024, The New York Times reported that Swift's groundbreaking Eras Tour earned a record $2 billion, making it the highest-earning tour of all time for any music artist.
She is also the highest-earning female musician in the world with a net worth of over $1 billion.
Forbes reported in October 2024 that Swift was worth $1.6 billion, making her the world's richest female musician.
The outlet reported that she became a billionaire in October 2023, in part due to The Eras Tour.
I compared the same meal at Applebee's, TGI Fridays, and Chili's.
I ordered Buffalo bone-in wings and a classic cheeseburger at each chain.
Applebee's impressed me with its juicy burger but I thought Chili's served the best overall value.
In the casual-dining "value wars," Applebee's, TGI Fridays, and Chili's are three of the biggest competitors.
To determine which of these chains should be crowned the winner, I ordered the same meal β a drink, an order of Buffalo wings, and a classic cheeseburger β at all three and compared them on taste and value.
When it comes to performance, Applebee's, TGI Fridays, and Chili's are faring differently.
TGI Fridays filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November and Reuters reported the chain is facing $37 million in debt. In November, Applebee's also reported a 5.9% decline in same-restaurant sales in the third quarter compared to the year before.
Chili's, meanwhile, has been gaining momentum. In January, the chain's parent company reported a 31% growth in same-restaurant sales from October 2023 to December 2024 and a nearly 20% increase in traffic year over year.
In a conversation with Business Insider, Chili's CMO George Felix said the chain's rise has been propelled by simplifying restaurant menus, changing the chain's approach to marketing and social media, and focusing on value, quality, and hospitality at restaurants.
"You're seeing a lot of competitors throwing different combo meals and meal deals out there at different price points. But I think what's really hard to replicate is we're delivering all of that, combined with a really excellent experience," Felix said.
Here's how the same meal compared at Applebee's, TGI Fridays, and Chili's.
I visited a locally owned TGI Fridays in Massachusetts.
This location is locally owned and operated, so it is not included in the larger company's bankruptcy filing.
TGI Fridays Inc. owns 39 locations in the US, but there are 122 franchised locations in the US and 316 franchised international locations that are not included in the bankruptcy filing.
I ordered a diet soda at all of the chains I visited.
The soda at TGI Fridays was roughly the same size as the drink from Chili's and Applebee's. It cost $3.29, plus tax.
TGI Fridays also offered a cocktail menu, but it didn't seem as central to the brand as the margaritas for Chili's and Applebee's.
Chili's and Applebee's both advertised their drinks on prominently placed menus on the dining table, while TGI Fridays just had the regular cocktail section inside its standard menu.
Chili's and Applebee's also emphasized new, seasonal cocktails. Chili's offered a seasonal margarita of the month for $6, making the restaurants feel more playful.
I ordered an eight count of Buffalo wings.
The wings at TGI Fridays didn't come in a house Buffalo sauce but rather were tossed in Frank's Red Hot Buffalo sauce.
The order of eight wings cost $12.19, plus tax, which was cheaper than the wings from Chili's and Applebee's. These wings also came with a side of sliced celery sticks.
These wings were large and the meat was extremely tender.
I was given a selection of drumsticks and flats in the order. However, while these wings were perfectly meaty and crispy on the outside, the sauce didn't blow me away.
These wings tasted like standard Frank's Red Hot sauce, just like countless others I've had before, with nothing unique or exciting to set them apart.
The burger from TGI Fridays was just OK.
The cheeseburger includes all the classic toppings: tomato, lettuce, American cheese, red onion, and pickles.
While there's no sauce on the burger by default, ketchup is available on every table, and you could easily ask for mustard or ketchup to be added if you prefer.
The burger was priced at $12.49, before tax.
TGI Fridays is also offering a value meal deal that sells its classic cheeseburger with fries and a drink for $9.99, plus tax, which was the most affordable offer out of the three chains.
I thought the TGI Fridays burger needed more sauce.
The bun was dry and untoasted, setting the tone for what turned out to be an overall burger experience that lacked a lot of flavor and moisture.
Although I requested my burger medium, it leaned toward well-done and lacked juiciness. While I appreciated the flavor of the meat itself and the toppings tasted fresh, my praise for this burger ended there.
I reminded myself that this is the chain's simplest burger, so perhaps it's only fair to expect a straightforward flavor profile without much pizzazz.
My second favorite meal came from Applebee's.
I arrived at an Applebee's in Brooklyn on a busy weeknight with two other people and was seated promptly.
I also expected to pay slightly more at this restaurant than at the Chili's and TGI Fridays restaurants I visited since they were both located in Massachusetts, not New York City. However, I found that the prices didn't differ greatly between the two states.
I ordered a drink and nine classic bone-in Buffalo wings to start.
At my local Applebee's in Brooklyn, an order of nine classic bone-in wings costs $18.99, excluding tax and fees. They came with celery sticks and sides of ranch and blue cheese.
I also ordered a diet soda. It cost $3.29, plus tax.
The wings were crispy and the largest out of the three chains.
The wings were tender and juicy, with the sauce delivering a rich, buttery flavor. The Buffalo sauce struck a great balance between its spicy kick and savory, buttery notes, creating a well-rounded flavor.
The Applebee's burger really impressed me.
I ordered the burger as part of the chain's "2 for $2X" deal, which also allowed me to get an order of boneless wings and a chicken tender basket for about $30.
However, the burger typically costs $16.99, excluding tax, at the location I visited in Brooklyn, New York.
The cheeseburger came with two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles on a brioche bun.
The exterior of the burger patty was quite dark, which initially made me worry it had been overcooked past the medium level I requested.
To my surprise, the burger turned out to be incredibly juicy and leaned slightly toward medium-rare.
The melted, tangy cheese enveloped the entire burger, creating a perfectly balanced bite. The thick slices of red onion added a bold flavor, while the lettuce and tomato were fresh.
Although this burger lacked a sauce, it remained far from dry, thanks to the melted cheese and a buttery bun.
Despite having similar ingredients to the TGI Fridays burger, this one tasted juicier and more flavorful.
My favorite meal in terms of taste and value came from Chili's.
I visited a Chili's in Massachusetts, but I've also been to the location in Queens, New York, before.
Chili's has always impressed me with its portion sizes, value-focused meals, and its famous Triple Dipper, which the company said is popular among younger customers. CNN reported in October that it accounts for 11% of Chili's sales.
Like at the other two chains, I got a diet soda.
It cost $3.29, plus tax.
I got an order of eight Buffalo wings to start.
Chili's offers boneless and bone-in wings in several flavors, including honey chipotle, barbecue, and Nashville hot.
The order of eight wings cost $14.99, plus tax.
The wings were coated in buttery Buffalo sauce.
The wings came in a selection of drumsticks and flats. Though they were a little on the smaller side compared to the wings from Applebee's, they were piping hot when I picked them up and fried to a golden crisp.
They also packed much more flavor than the other wings I tried, and the chicken meat inside was moist and juicy.
The wings paired well with the chain's signature ranch and decadent blue cheese dressing.
I also ordered a classic cheeseburger.
The Oldtimer burger, which I ordered with cheddar cheese, comes topped with pickles, lettuce, sliced tomato, diced red onions, and mustard.
It cost $13.29, plus tax, and was the largest burger I tried when it came to overall size.
I also could have ordered this burger as part of the chain's "3 For Me" menu and gotten an appetizer, the burger with fries, and a non-alcoholic drink, for $10.99, plus tax. This made me feel like Chili's was really serving up value.
The cheddar cheese was perfectly melted, and the other ingredients tasted extremely fresh.
The only downside was the generous serving of mustard smeared onto the burger patty. The mustard had a strong, sharp flavor, and while I do like mustard, it was a bit overpowering for me.
But the rest of the burger was impressive. The char on the slightly smashed patty was wonderfully crispy, and the other ingredients were incredibly fresh. The red onion added a nice punch of flavor, while the bun held everything together perfectly.
Overall, I liked my experience and meal at Chili's the most.
The food tasted high-quality, and I enjoyed the vibe and more youthful, playful atmosphere of both the restaurant and the menu.
The overall cost of the meal was pretty similar across all three chains, though, as I had expected, the Applebee's in New York was slightly more expensive than the two restaurants I visited in Massachusetts.
Even though the meal from Chili's wasn't the cheapest β the meal from TGI Fridays cost less β I thought it provided the best value when I considered the experience and taste of the food.
"I think a lot of brands mistake the lowest price point for being [the best] value, and I don't think that's giving consumers enough credit," Chili's CMO George Felix told Business Insider. "So for us, we believe value is the entire holistic experience of what you pay for what you get."
Ultimately, when it came to the most flavorful meal with the highest-quality-tasting ingredients, Chili's was the winner for me.
The 67th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday in Los Angeles.Β

The 29-year-old model and socialite is the youngest daughter of health secretary nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
She's also a mainstay at fashion shows and fashion-brand popups, making her one to watch from "America's royal family."
Kennedy Jr., known for his misleading claims about vaccine safety, could lead the Department of Health and Human Services in President Donald Trump's new administration if he gets enough votes following his confirmation hearing.
Kennedy Jr. had previously announced his own candidacy in the 2024 presidential election before breaking from family tradition by supporting Trump, the Republican candidate.
Multiple members of his family, including his cousin Caroline Kennedy and John F. Kennedy's grandson, Jack Schlossberg, have publicly denounced his nomination. His six children β he has four sons and two daughters β have not publicly commented on his nomination.
Here's everything you need to know about Kyra Kennedy.
Kyra Kennedy is the youngest daughter of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Kyra Kennedy was born on August 22, 1995. She is the second child of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his second wife, Mary Richardson.
People reported that Kennedy and Richardson started dating before the politician's divorce from his first wife, Emily Ruth Black, was finalized in 1994.
Kennedy married Richardson that same year, and they were married until Richardson's death by suicide on May 16, 2012. The couple were estranged at the time of her death, The Guardian reported.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has two children with Black: Robert "Bobby" Kennedy III, 40, and Kathleen Alexandra "Kick" Kennedy, 36.
Kennedy had four children with Richardson: Conor Richardson Kennedy, 30; Kyra LeMoyne Kennedy, 29; William "Finn" Kennedy, 28; and Aidan Caohman Vieques Kennedy, 24.
Kennedy married his third wife, actor Cheryl Hines, in 2014. They have no children together, though she has a daughter from a previous marriage.
Kennedy made her debut in society at a Paris debutante ball.
Harper's Bazaar reported that then-21-year-old Kyra was "the latest Kennedy making headlines" after she made her formal debut in society at a 2013 debutante ball in Paris.
The event, known as "Le Bal," was held at the Automobile Club de France in Paris, and all attendees wore haute couture. As reported by Harper's Bazaar, Kennedy wore Dior, whom she had already interned with when she made her debut.
Vanity Fair reported that other debutantes that year included Larry David's daughter Romy and Lady Amelia Windsor, a member of the British royal family.
She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
Kennedy has been a longtime fashion enthusiast.
In addition to earning her degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, she also held internships at Kenneth Cole and Dior, Harper's Bazaar reported.
Kennedy was a member of the "Snap Pack," which also included the likes of Tiffany Trump.
The New York Times coined the term "Snap Pack" in 2016. The group was made up of uber-rich young people who lived and partied in Manhattan, and who documented their lives for their many devoted Snapchat and Instagram followers.
Kennedy's high-profile social circle also included people like Gaia Matisse, the great-granddaughter of artist Henri Matisse, Donald Trump's daughter Tiffany Trump, and up-and-coming fashion designer Andrew Warren.
Her father reportedly barred her from using social media after an online incident with a reporter.
In 2016, Page Six reported that Kennedy's dad, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., had barred her from using social media after her reported involvement in a "cyberbullying" scandal.
The tabloid reported that Kyra Kennedy, then 20, had used her Instagram page to write mean comments on an Instagram page owned by Allie Jones, a New York writer who had written a post about The New York Times' "Snap Pack" article for The Cut, a subsidiary of New York Magazine. She later deleted the comments, per Page Six.
Jones recounted the experience in another article for The Cut, titled, "I'm Being Cyberbullied on Instagram by a Kennedy."
"Mr. Kennedy has spoken to Kyra and informed his daughter that their family does not bully people. He has instructed her to shut down all of her social media accounts immediately," a representative for the politician told Page Six.
The ban didn't last forever, however, as the Daily Mail reported in September 2019 that Kennedy had resumed using her social media pages.
Kyra Kennedy did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
Kennedy has dabbled in modeling over the years.
In May 2016, she made her modeling debut posing for her friend and fellow Snap Pack member Andrew Warren's clothing line during New York Fashion Week, Harper's Bazaar reported.
According to her Instagram, she frequently attends brand pop-ups, fashion shows, and Fashion Week events held by major brands, from Gucci to Tod's and Louis Vuitton.
As a member of one of America's most famous families, she's certainly one to watch.
Kennedy now has over 30,000 followers on Instagram, where she documents her outfits, glamorous lifestyle, and travels.
Judging by her page, she still has many celebrity friends, including comedian Larry David's daughter Cazzie.
Kyra Kennedy did not respond to Business Insider's request for comment on this story.
She has not publicly commented on her father's nomination for health secretary.
Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy became the latest young Kennedy to make headlines when she was linked to actor Ben Affleck last summer, but she's more widely known as Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s eldest daughter.
Kennedy Jr. could lead the Department of Health and Human Services in President Donald Trump's new administration if he gets enough votes following Wednesday's confirmation hearing.
Kennedy Jr. had previously announced his candidacy for president before breaking from family tradition by supporting Trump, the Republican candidate, in the 2024 presidential election.
Multiple members of his family, including his aunt Caroline Kennedy and cousin Jack Schlossberg, have publicly condemned his nomination. However, his children β he has four sons and two daughters β have not publicly commented on his nomination.
And while his eldest daughter, Kick Kennedy, has not spoken out about her father's political ventures, she has made headlines for different reasons in recent months.
She was born in 1988 and is the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Emily Ruth Black, his first wife and the mother of his two oldest children. (RFK Jr. is now married to his third wife, Cheryl Hines.)
She was named after her great-aunt who died in a tragic plane crash.
Kick Kennedy's namesake, Kathleen "Kick" Agnes Cavendish, was born in 1920. She was the daughter of Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. and Rose Kennedy and the sister of John F. Kennedy.
Just months after getting married in 1944, her husband was tragically killed in combat. Following his death, she entered into a relationship with Earl Peter Wentworth Fitzwilliam, a married man, People reported.
The couple planned to travel to Paris to seek her father's approval, but their 10-seat plane encountered severe turbulence and crashed in the mountains between Paris and Cannes.
Both she and the earl, who was piloting the aircraft, died instantly. She was only 28 years old. A write-up in The Atlantic said only her father attended her funeral.
She has five siblings, four of whom are half siblings from her father's second marriage to Mary Richardson.
The younger Kick Kennedy has one biological sibling from her father's first marriage to Emily Ruth Black: Robert "Bobby" Kennedy III, 39.
Her half siblings include Conor Kennedy, 30; Kyra Kennedy, 29; William Finbar Kennedy, 27; and Aidan Caohman Vieques Kennedy, 23.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. married Cheryl Hines, his third wife, in 2014. They have no children together, though she has a 20-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
After her half-brother Conor was linked to Taylor Swift in 2012, Kick called the star "really sweet."
Though the relationship was short-lived, Swift was spotted spending time with Conor and the Kennedy family at their compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, in summer 2012.
"She's really sweet. It was a moment, really," Kick Kennedy told the New York Post in 2014 when asked what it was like for the superstar to date her brother. "But we always have exciting things going on β exciting people to meet."
Swift and Conor Kennedy's relationship reportedly ended in October 2012, though the fling may have inspired a few songs on her fourth studio album, "Red."
Her own dating life has been pretty low profile.
Kick Kennedy dated Paul Simon's son Harper in 2014, E! News reported.
She later dated Matthew Mellon, a member of the wealthy Mellon family, before he died on his way to a drug treatment facility in 2018, People reported.
Outlets reported earlier this month that she was getting to know Ben Affleck in the wake of his very public divorce from Jennifer Lopez.
Page Six reported that the two had been spotted together at the Polo Lounge in the Beverly Hills Hotel, though Affleck's representative told People the two weren't dating.
The rumors about Ben Affleck led the internet to discover a disturbing story Kick Kennedy once shared about her dad during an interview.
Following the reports about Affleck, people clamored to find out more about the lesser-known member of the Kennedy clan. A 2012 profile of Kick Kennedy in Town & Country included a particularly wild story about her father.
Kick Kennedy told the magazine that when she was 6 years old, her father decapitated a dead whale they'd found on a beach near the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port. She didn't share why her father wanted the whale head but said he "likes to study animal skulls and skeletons."
Problems arose when the family began making the five-hour drive from Hyannis to their home in New York with the whale head strapped to the roof of their minivan.
"Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car, and it was the rankest thing on the planet," she said.
She said that to deal with the leaking whale juice, "we all had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out."
"People on the highway were giving us the finger," she added. "But that was just normal day-to-day stuff for us."
It's a bizarre story, but it isn't the only time Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been in the news for questionable behavior involving animals.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he'd "been picking up roadkill my whole life," NBC reported earlier this month. "I have a freezer full of it," he said.
She's acted in several television shows over the years.
Kick Kennedy has appeared in several one-off episodes of popular shows like "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Gossip Girl," and "The Newsroom."
She also acted in an off-Broadway play in 2014, which "Today" called a "modern retelling" of Sophocles' "Antigone."
"I'm really lucky," she told The Associated Press at the time. "I've grown a lot just studying this part and I hope I can do it justice. I couldn't really ask for a better story to tell right now. It's just sort of magical that everything fell into place."
She's since shied away from the spotlight to focus on philanthropy.
Kick Kennedy is a member of the founders' circle of the charity Well Beings, an organization that focuses on "the well-being of animals, people, and the planet," according to the company's mission statement.
While she's a member of one of the country's most famous and influential political families, she has spoken publicly about not wanting to rely on her pedigree to get ahead.
"People ask me, 'What's it like to be a Kennedy?'" Kick Kennedy said in a 2014 interview with the New York Post. "Maybe it's just the temperature of the water, but I'm just like, 'I have no idea.'"
"When I see my face or name in the tabloids, I get a knot in my stomach. It's just not me β it's reading something that's not real," she added.
She has, for now, a relatively modest 27,000 followers on Instagram.
Burger King's biscuit was practically leaking butter but it tasted better than the McDonald's one.
I also thought Burger King's hash browns were a great value.
There's nothing like a classic fast-food breakfast sandwich to start your day.Β
Breakfast is an area of opportunity for chains to win back customers as people return to the office in droves and need a morning pick-me-up. In August, Dunkin' launched a new $6 breakfast meal deal, joining the long list of chains offering value meals as customers become more price-conscious.Β
I tried the same breakfast meal, which included a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit breakfast sandwich and hash browns, at two of the biggest fast-food chains: McDonald's and Burger King.Β
Here's which chain had the best breakfast, based on taste and value.
I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit breakfast sandwich and hash browns from each chain. I started by trying out Burger King's.
My meal cost $8.58, plus taxes and fees. I ordered it through the DoordashΒ app from my local restaurant in Brooklyn, New York.
It seemed like a fair price for how much food I received.
I got a medium order of hash browns and thought it was more than enough.
A medium-size hash brown from Burger King cost me $3.19.
It came packed to the brim with small fried hash browns.
I enjoyed the hash browns from Burger King β I thought they were fluffy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside.
They could have used a little sauce for added flavor but were just fine on their own as well.
I also got a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit breakfast sandwich from Burger King.
It cost $5.39 and came wrapped in wax paper to keep the heat and buttery biscuit safely tucked inside.
Right away, I noticed how buttery this sandwich was.
Butter had completely coated the wax paper wrapping.
Once I opened the sandwich, I saw right away why the wrapping was so buttery.
The biscuit was a dark yellow color and almost crispy in texture. This told me right away that a lot of butter was added to whatever batter they use to make their biscuits.
The sandwich came with a biscuit, sausage patty, egg, and a slice of American cheese.
When I bit into the breakfast sandwich, it tasted heavily of butter, but I could still taste the juicy sausage patty and egg.
There were small pockets of butter or oil on the top of the biscuit.
However, that didn't really turn me off. There's nothing worse than a dry biscuit ... which I would discover later on in this taste test.
The sausage patty was perfectly thick and moist, while the eggs were light and fluffy.
The biscuit was crumbly rather than flaky, but it complemented the other flavors and provided the perfect vehicle for the other ingredients.
I ordered the same items from McDonald's: a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit breakfast sandwich and one hash brown.
My meal cost $9.38, plus taxes and fees. I also got it delivered through the Doordash app.
It was slightly more expensive than the meal from Burger King, so I was anxious to see if the flavor would live up to the higher price tag.
I got one hash brown, which appeared to be smaller in size than the medium order of hash browns from Burger King.
However, it was more expensive at $3.69.
The hash brown was perfectly crispy on the outside.
It wasn't as fluffy as the Burger King hash browns. The potato inside was more shredded in texture and had a lot more moisture. I liked it but thought the serving size was a little small and expensive for getting basically the same menu item taste-wise.Β
I'm a big fan of McDonald's McMuffin breakfast sandwiches but haven't tried many of their biscuit options.
The sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich cost me $5.69, which was more expensive than the one from Burger King.Β
The biscuit was lighter in color than the Burger King one but looked more like a traditional biscuit.
However, when I bit in, I was surprisingly a little disappointed.
I thought the biscuit was dry and crumbly.
It stuck to the roof of my mouth. The texture made it difficult to really taste the other ingredients β all I could taste was the biscuit.
I didn't have any urge to finish this sandwich.
The eggs and sausage were both pretty moist, but not enough to overpower the dry biscuit. In my opinion, the biscuit could have used some of the butter I found the Burger King sandwich practically drenched in.
Overall, I enjoyed both meals and thought they were both good deals in terms of value.
I then had to decide which meal I preferred based on each item.
Both of the breakfast sandwiches were around the same size and had the same ingredients, but I preferred the one from Burger King.
Even though it bordered on too buttery, the Burger King option had more flavor and the biscuit's consistency allowed the other flavors to come through. The biscuit from McDonald's was simply too dry for my tastes and made the other ingredients fade into the background.
Taste-wise, the hash browns were equally delicious.
However, the Burger King order came with more and they were less expensive. In my mind, that gave the smaller chain an obvious win.
Overall, I preferred the breakfast from Burger King.
I thought the biscuit sandwich was flavorful and moist, and the hash browns were a great value for the size of the order. In my own personal breakfast wars, this fast-food chain came out on top.
First kids have to deal with a lot of pressure being in the public eye.
However, they can also enjoy the perks that come with being a part of the first family.
Children who live at the White House have access to a private movie theater and personal chefs.
From getting to live in the White House to flying across the world on Air Force One, there are a lot of perks to being a president's kid.
Now that Donald Trump has returned to office, Barron Trump will regain access to many of the most luxurious perks of being a first kid.
Barron won't be living in the White House while he attends New York University, where he's a freshman, but he'll still have his own Secret Service security team, the ability to use the president's private plane when he travels with his parents, and access to the White House's movie theater, putting green, and more when he returns to Washington, DC.Β
Here are some of the most luxurious perks of being the president's child.
First kids get to live in the White House, which boasts 132 rooms, including a movie theater.
The presidential residenceΒ also includes a bowling alley, whichΒ Melania Trump renovated, a basketball court, a restaurant, and a chocolate shop.
First children also have free rein of the White House grounds to wander the gardens or play outside with their presidential pets.
Children who've called the White House home include Bill Clinton's daughter, Chelsea; Jimmy Carter's daughter, Amy; and John F. Kennedy's children, John Jr. and Caroline.
They can also host major events at the White House, such as their own weddings or even their senior proms.
Nine children of presidents have gotten marriedΒ at the White House: Maria Hester Monroe, John Adams II, Elizabeth Tyler, Nellie Grant, Alice Lee Roosevelt, Jessie Woodrow Wilson, Eleanor Randolph Wilson, Lynda Bird Johnson, and Tricia Nixon.
Susan Ford, then 17, even hosted her high school prom at the White House in 1975, the first β and, as of now, only β prom to be held there, Vanity Fair reported.
They also get to ride on the luxurious Air Force One and Marine One when traveling with their parents.
While the president's airplane and other modes of transportation are only referred to as Air Force One, Marine One, and the like when the president is on board, first ladies and kids also get to ride them.
Air Force One has three levels and 4,000 square feet of interior floor space. That includes a conference room, dining room, and private quarters with a gym for the president. There is also a medical operating room, offices for staff, and two food-preparation galleys that can provide 100 meals.
The children of sitting presidents get to meet famous people, from movie stars to other heads of state.
"Sure, maybe a few times I wished my father was just a congressman," Susan Ford Bales, the daughter of former President Gerald Ford and Betty Ford, once said in an interview, CBS News reported.
"But in fact, I wouldn't trade it for anything," she continued. "The travels, the people you meet. From movie stars to heads of state. It was like, 'Oh my gosh, look who I'm meeting now!"'
A personal chef is always on hand for snacks and late-night cravings.
The White House executive chef and executive pastry chef are primarily hired to serve the first family, which includes the kids, and to prepare food during official White House functions.
However, while first kids have access to the five full-time chefs who work in the White House, they likely can't order an unlimited supply of their favorite foods because the first family actually foots the bill for their food.
"They let you get whatever you want," Michelle Obama told Jimmy Kimmel in 2018. "And then you get the bill for a peach and it's like, 'That was a $500 peach!' I would tell Barack, 'Do not express pleasure for anything until I know how much it costs.'"
The children of sitting presidents can decorate their rooms however they want, within reason.
Although presidential kids can make temporary decorative changes to their rooms, given the historical significance of the White House they can't make any major structural changes to their living quarters.
"Some parts are essentially historic rooms and belong to the American people, not to the families who live there," Kate Andersen Brower, the author of "First Women: The Grace and Power of America's Modern First Ladies," told ABC News in 2016.
It's possible for first children to be offered positions working in the administration ... though they're technically not supposed to.
The Postal Revenue and Federal Salary Act of 1967, also called the Bobby Kennedy Law, was intended to curb political nepotism and prevent the family members of sitting presidents from obtaining powerful positions in the executive branch.
However, first children have still continued to hold positions in the White House. Most notably, Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, both worked as advisors to President Donald Trump, but they took no salary.
"The antinepotism law apparently has an exception if you want to work in the West Wing because the president is able to appoint his own staff," Kellyanne Conway, then a Trump staffer, told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" in 2016. "Of course, this came about to stop maybe family members from serving on the Cabinet, but the president does have discretion to choose a staff of his liking."
Presidents' kids also have private security to ensure their safety, even when they're no longer living in the White House.
The United States Secret Service offers around-the-clock protection to the spouses and children of the US president and vice president.
Children of non-sitting presidents are only ensured protection until they turn 16 years old. Presidents can petition for continued security after they leave office.
After he left office in January 2021, Donald Trump extended Secret Service protection for his four adult children for another six months, The Washington Post reported. His youngest son, Barron, has also been under the protection of the Secret Service since he began attending New York University.
First kids might even use their reputations and political connections to become president themselves.
Two former first children went on to become president: John Quincy Adams and George W. Bush. While a first kid becoming president isn't exactly common, multiple first children have entered politics after their fathers left office.
Jeb Bush, the second son of George H.W. Bush, went on to serve as the 43rd governor of Florida and launched his own presidential campaign in 2015. Chelsea Clinton also said a future for her in politics was a "definite maybe" in 2018, The Guardian reported.
Kai Madison Trump, 17, is the eldest grandchild of President Donald Trump.
She is the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife Vanessa Trump.
She spoke about her grandfather onstage at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July.
Kai Madison Trump, 17, is Donald Trump's eldest grandchild. She attended the presidential inauguration and was mentioned by Trump during his address at Capital One Arena.
In her first public appearance at the Republican National Convention in July, Trump spoke about her relationship with her grandfather.
"To me, he's just a normal grandpa," she said. "He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren't looking. He always wants to know how we're doing in school."
"A lot of people have put my grandpa through hell and he's still standing," she continued. "Grandpa, you are such an inspiration and I love you. The media makes my grandpa seem like a different person, but I know him for who he is."
Here's what you need to know about Kai Trump, the president's eldest grandchild.
Kai Madison Trump is the 17-year-old daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump.

She was born and raised in New York and now lives with her mother in Jupiter, Florida.
USA Today reported that she attends The Benjamin School, a private school in North Palm Beach, Florida. The outlet reported that she moved to Florida when she was 13 and lives a short distance from President Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.
She said in a recent YouTube vlog that she hopes to spend more time in Washington, DC, after Trump takes office.
Kai spoke onstage at the Republican National Convention in 2024.
"I'm speaking today to share the side of my grandpa that people don't often see. To me, he's just a normal grandpa," Trump said in her first official address.
"Even when he is going through all these court cases, he always asks me how I'm doing," she continued. "He always encourages me to push myself to be the most successful person I can be."
Trump also addressed the assassination attempt on her grandfather, saying that after she heard about it she "just wanted to know if he was OK."
"It was heartbreaking that someone would do that to another person. A lot of people have put my grandpa through hell and he's still standing. Grandpa, you are such an inspiration and I love you," she said.
She's an avid golfer and often utilizes her grandfather's golf courses for training.
Trump is an avid golfer and has said she wants to play at the collegiate level at the University of Miami after graduating from high school in 2026.
In an Instagram post announcing her plans to play collegiate golf, she thanked Donald Trump, writing, "I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support."
Her grandfather owns 16 golf courses around the world.
In her speech at the Republican National Convention, she spoke about playing golf with her grandfather.
"When we play golf together, if I'm not on his team, he'll try to get inside of my head," she said. "And he is always surprised that I don't let him get to me, but I have to remind him I'm a Trump, too."
She has her own YouTube channel.
Trump posted a vlog on Inauguration Day that showed behind-the-scenes footage of her prepping to attend pre-inauguration events, such as a formal dinner at the Building Museum where she wore a navy-blue Sherri Hill gown with cutouts.
She also promised fans to film inside the White House during Monday's inauguration events.
Kai Trump has 723,000 YouTube subscribers, about 1 million Instagram followers, and 1.7 million followers on TikTok.
Donald Trump was inaugurated for his second non-consecutive presidential term on January 20, 2025.
Ivanka Trump attended her father's inaugurations but will not serve in his second administration.
Barron Trump, the president's youngest child, now towers over both of his parents.
Donald Trump's second presidential inauguration was held on Monday, exactly eight years after the president's first inauguration on January 20, 2017.
After losing his bid for reelection in 2020, Trump ran again in 2024 and won, becoming the second US president, after Grover Cleveland, to serve two non-consecutive terms.
Ivanka Trump will not serve a major role within her father's administration this time around, after previously serving as an advisor to the president.
Barron Trump, the president's youngest son, was just 10 years old when his father first took office. Now 18, Barron is a freshman at New York University and has taken a more active role in his father's campaign.
Here's what the Trump family looked like at the 2017 Inauguration compared to 2025, and how their roles have changed.
Donald Trump became the oldest president to assume the presidency during his first inauguration ceremony in 2017.
When he was inaugurated on January 20, 2017, at 70 years old, Trump was the oldest person to assume the presidency.
"We, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and to restore its promise for all of our people," Trump said in an inaugural address in 2017. "Together, we will determine the course of America and the world for years to come."
Trump is once again the oldest president to assume office.
Biden became the oldest president at 78 years and 61 days when he was inaugurated on January 20, 2021.
However, Trump surpassed him on January 20, 2025, at 78 years and 220 days years old.
"The golden age of America begins right now," Trump said in an inaugural speech. The president also announcedΒ a series of impending executive ordersΒ that include immigration reform and the establishment of an External Revenue Service.
The core members of Trump's immediate family attended his first inauguration.
At his first swearing-in ceremony, Trump was flanked by his wife Melania Trump and his children Barron, Ivanka, Eric, Donald Jr., and Tiffany.
Trump's children and their partners also attended the 2025 inauguration, which was held inside the Capitol.
Tiffany Trump and her husband Michael Boulos, Lara Trump and Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and Donald Trump Jr. all attended the 2025 inauguration.
Melania Trump and Barron Trump stood directly alongside the president during his swearing-in ceremony, with his other children, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris also present.
Barron was just 10 years old when he attended his father's first inauguration.
Though he was only 10, the youngest Trump son was nearly taller than both his parents at his father's first inauguration.
Barron moved into the White House five months after his father was sworn in and became the first boy to live in the historic home since John F. Kennedy Jr. lived there in 1961.
Now an adult, Barron towers over his parents.
Barron, 18, will not live in the White House this time around. He is a freshman at New York University and lives in off-campus housing, People reported.
Melania Trump was by her husband's side when Barack and Michelle Obama welcomed him to the White House in 2017.
Melania lived in the White House during her four years as First Lady and was welcomed into the home by the Obamas on her husband's first day in office.
She wore a powder-blue suit by Ralph Lauren.
She appeared alongside her husband as Joe and Jill Biden welcomed the couple back to the White House, though she won't live there full-time.
For the 2025 inauguration, the First Lady opted for a navy blue coat and skirt by American designer Adam Lippes. She paired the look with a wide-brimmed hat by Eric Javits, another American designer.
The extent of Melania's role in her husband's second administration remains unclear.
People reported that the First Lady will live it the White House at least part-time, dividing her time between Washington, New York (where Barron is in school), and Mar-a-Lago.
"I will be in the White House. And when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach," she said in an interview with Fox & Friendson January 13. "My first priority is to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife."
Melania Trump stood on the podium alongside her husband as he was sworn in for a second time on January 20, 2025.
Ivanka Trump became an advisor after her father was sworn in in 2017.
According to her official White House bio, Ivanka Trump served as a senior White House advisor during Donald Trump's first term.
She focused on issues such as the "education and economic empowerment of women and their families" and boosting jobs and economic growth through skills training and entrepreneurship, according to the bio.
Ivanka attended her father's second inauguration, but will not be part of the new administration.
When Trump launched his third presidential campaign in 2024, Ivanka announced that she was stepping away from politics and would not play an official part in his next administration.
"I love my father very much," she said in a statement shared on social media. "This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics. While I will always love and support my father, going forward, I will do so outside the political arena."
Jared Kushner attended the 2017 inauguration with his and Ivanka's children.
Kushner served alongside his wife as a senior advisor in his father-in-law's first administration.
He played a key role in brokering the Abraham Accords, a set of agreements that established diplomatic relations between Israel, Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates.
Jared Kushner also attended Trump's second inauguration.
CNN and the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported that Jared Kushner is expected to serve as an informal advisor to President Trump focusing on matters related to the Middle East.
Donald Trump Jr. arrived at the 2017 inauguration with his sister Ivanka.
Donald Trump Jr. did not serve in an official capacity within the White House during his father's presidency.
During Trump's first presidential term, he and his brother, Eric Trump, continued overseeing the Trump Organization, which manages the Trump family's real-estate holdings and is currently appealing its civil-fraud case verdict.
Tiffany Trump and her brother, Eric Trump, arrived together for their father's first inauguration.
Though not overly political, Tiffany spoke at the Republican National Conventions in 2016 and 2020.
Eric has also appeared alongside his family at multiple campaign events throughout Trump's political career.
All five of Donald Trump's children β Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany, and Barron β attended the 2025 inauguration.
It wasn't widely announced prior to Inauguration Day which members of the Trump family would attend. However, all five of the president's children arrived together for the ceremony.
Trump Jr.'s rumored ex-girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, who he started dating in 2018, was not spotted at the inauguration, though she did attend a few pre-inauguration events. Page Six reported their breakup in December, and Trump Jr. has since been linked to Florida socialite Bettina Anderson.
Tiffany did not speak at the 2024 Republican National Convention and has only made a few political appearances in recent years, including the inauguration. She and her husband, Michael Boulos, are expecting their first child.
Eric Trump is expected to continue leading the Trump Organization as executive vice president.
Lee Greenwood and Carrie Underwood sang during the ceremony.
President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were sworn in on Monday, marking the end of former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris' time in the White House.
The inauguration was held inside the Capitol Rotunda due to winter weather. Former presidents, Trump family members, tech billionaires, and members of Congress attended the packed ceremony.

Buffalo Wild Wings and Applebee's are well known for their chicken wings.
I tried Buffalo wings from both chains to determine a winner based on taste and value.
Buffalo Wild Wings took the lead with its buttery chicken wings with a generous amount of meat.
As the Super Bowl approaches, many restaurant chains are banking on popular tailgate favorites to attract fans.
Buffalo chicken wings are one of the top choices for game-day snacks β a report from the National Chicken Council estimated that Americans were expected to consume 1.45 billion chicken wings during the 2024 Super Bowl.
To capitalize on wings' popularity throughout football season, many chain restaurants are offering promotional deals, family-sized bundles, and free delivery to lure in customers as people continue to battle rising food prices and inflation.
I tried classic Buffalo wings from Applebee's and Buffalo Wild Wings, two chains known for their wings, to determine which restaurant wings were better, based on taste and value.
I thought the wings from Applebee's were crispy and flavorful.
At my local Applebee's in Brooklyn, New York, nine classic bone-in wings were priced at $18.99, before tax and fees. The order included celery sticks and sides of ranch and blue cheese dipping sauces.
This year, Applebee's became the NFL's official grill and bar partner after the chain recognized significant overlap between its customer base and NFL fans.
"We know our guests are football fans," Applebee's chief marketing officer Joel Yashinsky told Business Insider.
The wings were big and fried to a crisp.
The wings were tender and juicy, and the sauce had a rich, buttery flavor.
The Buffalo sauce struck a great balance between its spicy kick and savory, buttery notes, creating a well-rounded flavor. The meat inside was impressively juicy, and I appreciated the generous size of the wings.
There was a hearty serving of meat inside, but not as much as the wings from Buffalo Wild Wings.
My main gripe with Applebee's wings was the price: $18.99 for a plate of wings seemed steep, even though the wings were on the larger side. That said, prices may vary depending on the location you visit.
The wings from Applebee's and Buffalo Wild Wings ended up costing around the same amount per wing when I divided the price by how many wings I received. However, I would have liked the option to order fewer wings at Applebee's and pay less upfront.
I slightly preferred the Buffalo wings from Buffalo Wild Wings.
Buffalo Wild Wings' Buffalo bone-in wings are arguably the chain's most iconic menu item, so I was excited to see how they would compare to wings from a classic chain like Applebee's. They definitely didn't disappoint.
I ordered a six-count of traditional Buffalo wings through the Buffalo Wild Wings app for $12.49, excluding tax and fees, and a side of ranch.
The wings were shorter in length but had a generous amount of meat on them.
The wings were crispy and evenly coated with a light layer of Buffalo sauce that covered every inch. The order included a mix of drumsticks and flats, with the drumsticks standing out for being especially meaty.
I had to give the win to Buffalo Wild Wings for their buttery wings.
The chicken inside the wings was moist and tender, and the crispy skin added a nice balance in terms of texture. The sauce, with its slightly sweet, spicy, and buttery flavor, enhanced the overall taste.
They tasted much like the wings I've made at home but without the time and effort required to cook them myself.
In terms of value, I found these wings to be an excellent deal for the price given their flavor and amount of meat on each wing. Their quality and flavor exceeded expectations, and I wouldn't hesitate to order them again.
Football season is a key time for chain restaurants to draw in customers.
We tried boneless chicken wings from five chains to determine the best option for game day.
Applebee's and Chili's impressed us with their juicy, flavorful wings.
As football season kicks off, restaurant chains are rolling out crowd-pleasing tailgate favorites and value-focused deals to win over fans.
In a new series, "Tailgate Taste-off," Business Insider is pitting these chains against each other to uncover the best versions of popular game-day dishes.
Whether you're deciding which chain has the best Buffalo wings or offers the best value for delivery, this guide will help you make the most of your football season dining experience.
Boneless wings are one of the most popular options at chain restaurants on game day, and chains that specialize in chicken wings, such as Wingstop, are also experiencing significant growth.
In October 2024, the chain, which focuses its menu on bone-in chicken wings, boneless wings, and other chicken items, announced 38.8% year-over-year revenue growth.
Chains like Applebee's also know the value of delivering high-quality boneless wings.
"We've ensured our promotions during the season were available in-restaurant and for ordering to-go or delivery so we can be part of guests' football moments no matter where they like to watch,"Joel Yashinsky, Applebee's chief marketing officer, told Business Insider, adding that "a key element" of Applebee's football-season strategy this year has been to highlight the chain's boneless wing options.
We ranked boneless wings from five chain restaurants β Applebee's, Chili's, Buffalo Wild Wings, TGI Fridays, and Wingstop β based on taste and value.
My least favorite wings came from Buffalo Wild Wings, which surprised me.
I tried the same three flavors of wings from the five chains: Buffalo, garlic Parmesan, and barbecue.
At Buffalo Wild Wings, an order of 15 boneless wings, which included up to three different sauce flavors, cost $24.99, excluding tax.
However, Buffalo Wild Wings has been running a number of promotions recently that could help lower costs.
The chain is offering a value deal that includes 20 boneless wings in up to four sauces and a large order of fries for $16.99, excluding tax, when ordered online or through the BWW app.
Given that the chain is famous for its wings, I was surprised that the chain's boneless wings landed last in my ranking.
Buffalo Wild Wings' boneless wings looked more like chicken nuggets than boneless wings.
Some of the wings were meatier than others, but I thought Buffalo Wild Wings' wings were the smallest when compared to the other chains.
Still, I enjoyed the flavor of the boneless wings, particularly the classic Buffalo wings. They had a sweet buttery flavor without packing too much spice.
The flavor of the Parmesan garlic wings could have been amped up.
The wings had a slightly pungent garlic savoriness, but they weren't as flavorful as the ones I tried from the other chains.
The breading was crunchy and had a peppery flavor to it, but I thought it slightly overpowered the sauce.
The honey barbecue wings were coated in the most sauce.
Of the three kinds I tried from Buffalo Wild Wings, these were my favorite. The wings were sticky and sweet, thanks to the addition of the honey in the sauce, and paired nicely with the chain's creamy ranch.
The inside of the boneless wings was moist.
The wings were juicy on the inside, which balanced nicely with the crunchy outer breading.
In some ways, these boneless wings reminded me of standard chicken nuggets.
Boneless wings are made exclusively from chicken breast, while nuggets are typically made from a blend of various chicken parts. These did taste better than most chicken nuggets I've had, though I wasn't blown away overall.
I ordered boneless wings from TGI Fridays in three flavors: Buffalo, garlic Parmesan, and apple-butter barbecue. I ordered them as part of the chain's combo platter, which allows you to choose three appetizers to try.
At the TGI Fridays I visited in Massachusetts, the order cost $18.29, excluding tax, and came with eight of each flavor wing.
The Buffalo wings were small but packed a decent amount of flavor.
TGI Fridays doesn't seem to have its own house Buffalo sauce and instead douses its wings in Frank's Red Hot Buffalo sauce, a pretty standard grocery-store hot sauce.
I did enjoy the overall flavor, but these wings didn't bring the heat for me. Compared to the other Buffalo boneless wings I tried, these were just average.
I was most impressed by the Parmesan garlic boneless wings.
The wings had a super crispy coating and were drenched in a savory, garlicky sauce.
The wings had a crunch when I bit in β which I didn't quite get with the Buffalo boneless wings β and paired excellently with the chain's ranch.
I also liked the apple-butter barbecue wings.
I could distinctly taste the apple butter in this sauce, which gave it a sweet, almost molasses-like flavor. Though the size varied, these wings also were slightly bigger and crunchier than the Buffalo wings.
The wings were filled with a good amount of chicken breast meat, but the sauce truly stole the show.
The wings were reasonably thick, but the chicken and breading lacked seasoning or flavor on their own β the sauces provided the majority of the flavor, which wasn't necessarily a criticism but an observation.
The boneless wings from Wingstop landed in the middle of the pack.
Boneless chicken products like boneless wings, chicken nuggets, and tenders are having a moment right now.
However, Wingstop's senior director of culinary, Larry Bellah, told Business Insider that the chain's bone-in traditional wings are still its most popular offering.
Bellah also said the five most popular sauce flavors at Wingstop are lemon pepper, Original Hot, hickory-smoked barbecue, garlic Parmesan, and hot honey.
I ordered 20 boneless wings, which allowed me to select up to three sauce flavors for $24.69, excluding tax.
The Buffalo boneless wings were crispy on the outside.
They were smaller than the top two brands I tried but had a lot of flavor. Wingstop doesn't have a Buffalo sauce, but their Original Hot flavor is the chain's own spin on a classic.
They were buttery, with just the right level of spice.
The garlic Parmesan wings were covered in cheese.
I found the wings to be quite flavorful overall, but the Parmesan cheese stood out much more prominently than the garlic. The garlic flavor was subtle, almost overshadowed by the richness of the cheese.
The hickory-smoked barbecue flavor was sweet and smoky.
The sauce had a bold, smoky flavor with a rich balance of sweet, tangy, and savory notes, and coated every square inch of the boneless wing.
Of all the sauces, this flavor paired best with the chain's ranch, which was creamy and mildly tart.
The chicken meat inside was juicy and filling.
Though these wings were small, they were thick. I thought they were an excellent value for the price. The chicken meat inside tasted high-quality and shredded apart with every bite.
My second favorite wings came from Applebee's.
Applebee's seriously delivered on flavor. However, the chain didn't clinch the win for me based on value.
I found it difficult to try a variety of different flavors of boneless wings from Applebee's. The chain has an appetizer platter called the Classic Combo that's somewhat similar to the Triple Dipper from Chili's, but it's not fully customizable.
In the end, I ended up paying more than at any other chain so that I could try multiple flavors. However, Applebee's does sometimes offer promotions like $0.50 boneless wings that could cut costs.
The Buffalo wings were packed with flavor.
As the official grill and bar sponsor of the NFL this year, I expected the chain's boneless wings to be good β and they delivered.
Out of all the boneless Buffalo wings I tried, these were the spiciest and most flavorful. They paired seamlessly with the chain's ranch, which was tangy and creamy and perfectly balanced out the heat.
The garlic Parmesan wings were also super flavorful.
The outside of the wing was crispy and crunchy, and the garlic Parmesan sauce added a savory, nutty flavor to each bite.
The honey barbecue wings came coated in a sticky sauce.
The wings were perfectly balanced between sweet and smoky.
I was also impressed by the thickness of these wings.
The wings were impressively large and packed with tender, juicy chicken.
When it came to flavor, Applebee's was exceptional. All three sauces I tried were well-executed and flavorful. However, the garlic Parmesan stood out as my favorite.
Its rich, creamy blend of nutty Parmesan and savory garlic created a bold and indulgent flavor that took the wings to another level. While the other sauces were delicious, the garlic Parmesan offered a perfect balance of crispy breading and zesty flavor that kept me going back for more.
Chili's came in first place for its flavorful boneless wings at a great value.
I got 15 wings in three different flavors as part of Chili's highly popular Triple Dipper appetizer combo, which allowed me to select three appetizers for $17.29, excluding tax, at a Chili's in Massachusetts.
The chain has seen great success with its viral Triple Dipper.
CNN reported that the TikTok-famous appetizer, which the company says is especially popular among younger customers, now accounts for 11% of Chili's sales. Triple Dipper orders grew by 70% over the last year, boosting foot traffic to Chili's restaurants and cementing the chain as the brand to watch.
The boneless wings from Chili's were the largest out of all the chains.
The wings appeared to be baked in the Buffalo sauce rather than tossed in it after cooking.
The Buffalo sauce was sweet and slightly spicy, with a light buttery flavor. I got a strong citrus flavor coming through, which I also enjoyed.
The garlic Parmesan boneless wings were really flavorful.
I was again impressed by the size of the wings and thought the savory punch of garlic really came through. The wings were moist yet crispy, and I couldn't get enough of them.
The barbecue wings came coated in a smoky sauce.
Unlike the others, which were almost dry to the touch, these boneless wings came completely drenched in the chain's house barbecue sauce.
I thought the sauce was smoky with a slight sweetness, but they could have benefited from a little acid for some brightness.
I loved the breading and the thickness of the wings.
They were full of chicken meat, which made this an incredibly filling appetizer to share among a few people at a Super Bowl party β¦ or keep all to yourself while catching the game.
For under $20, the Triple Dipper delivered incredible value, offering a generous portion of high-quality wings that didn't skimp on flavor or size.
It's a standout deal that perfectly balances affordability with crave-worthy flavor β it's no surprise this menu item has become such a hit.
Multiple wildfires across Los Angeles have caused widespread devastation and killed 25 people.
The fires have burned over 40,000 acres with high winds making them difficult to contain.
Photos show scorched coastlines and oceanfront homes reduced to rubble.
Parts of Los Angeles are still burning from multiple wildfires that have ravaged over 40,000 acres and killed at least 25 people.
More than 200,000 Los Angeles residents have been ordered to evacuate since the Palisades fire started on January 7, with mandatory evacuation orders continuing to affect tens of thousands of people across the area.
With wind speeds of up to 90 miles per hour, the flames spread rapidly and proved difficult to extinguish, resulting in additional fires. While the Santa Ana winds have begun to die down, forecasts show they could return early next week.
As of Thursday afternoon, the Palisades fire is 22% contained while the Eaton fire is 55% contained, CalFire reported.
Iconic Los Angeles landmarks, such as Sunset Boulevard, sustained heavy damage. Others, like the Hollywood Sign, were obscured by smoke and ash.

The auditorium at an Altadena middle school was severely damaged.
The Altadena Community Church, which had been standing since 1947, was destroyed.
Landslides and mudslides have affected homes that weren't burned by the fires.
"I'm trying to figure out where I am in the house ... I think I'm standing in my dad's bathroom," one resident said as he sifted through the rubble of his family's burned home. "There's nothing left, just ash and bricks β there's nothing."
The RMS Titanic sank on April 15, 1912 β almost 113 years ago β after it hit an iceberg.
The RMS Carpathia was over three hours away and came to rescue the stranded survivors.
Of the roughly 2,200 people aboard the Titanic, only about 700 people made it into lifeboats.
When the Titanic sank at approximately 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912, its survivors didn't know if, or when, rescue would come.Β
They sat, waiting, unknowing for an hour and a half in the dark, frigid Atlantic. Meanwhile, hundreds of frozen bodies floated nearby where the ship had slipped under the surface.Β
"'My God! My God!' were the heart-rending cries and shrieks of men, which floated to us over the surface of the dark waters continuously for the next hour, but as time went on, growing weaker and weaker until they died out entirely," survivor Archibald Gracie later wrote.Β
When the RMS Carpathia came to their rescue around 4:00 a.m., it took an additional 4.5 hours to move everyone from the lifeboats onto the ship.Β
These photos show how the Carpathia saved a fraction of the Titanic's passengers from the icy sea.
The Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage on April 10, 1912, with around 2,200 people aboard.
A British passenger liner, the Titanic was operated by White Star Line and was traveling from Southampton, England, to New York City.Β
Just before 11:40 p.m. on April 14, Titanic crewmembers spotted an iceberg, but it was too late for the ship to change course.
When the ship was about 400 miles southeast of Newfoundland, Canada, the two lookouts, Fredrick Fleet and Reginald Lee, spotted the berg.
Fleet and Lee were contending with an unusually calm ocean. With no waves breaking at its base, the iceberg was difficult to spot. Their binoculars were also locked in a cabinet, so they were using their naked eyes to scan the dark water on the moonless night.
While the night was clear, the lookouts later said the berg, between 50 and 100 feet tall, suddenly loomed out of the haze. One weather researcher has suggested a local phenomenon known as sea smoke, steam rising from the water, could have obscured the enormous frozen object.Β Β Β Β Β
First Officer William Murdoch ordered the ship's helmsmen to avoid the iceberg, but they couldn't turn in time. As the ship scraped the iceberg, it tore a hole in the side of the ship, rupturing at least five of the watertight compartments.
AD
By 2:20 a.m., the stern of the Titanic slipped below the water, and the surviving passengers never saw it again.
Thomas Andrews, the Titanic's designer, was on board and quickly realized the extent of the damage and alerted the captain.Β
Within an hour, Captain Edward Smith ordered the lifeboats lowered into the water, The BBC reported in 2012. As the ship's bow continued to sink, the stern rose into the sky.
Shortly after 2 a.m., the Titanic's lights went out. Soon after, the ship broke into two pieces, and the bow sank beneath the waves. Then the stern followed suit, sending hundreds of crewmembers and passengers into the sea.
Of the 2,200 or so people aboard the Titanic, only around 700 people made it into lifeboats.
There were 20 lifeboats aboard the Titanic, more than the 16 required for a ship that size. However, the boats only had capacity for about half of the passengers and crew, 1,178 people, Smithsonian Magazine reported in 2017.
Women and children were the first passengers to climb into the lifeboats. Many boats were launched below capacity, either because the crew were afraid they would collapse if fully loaded or because they didn't want to spend valuable time coaxing passengers onto the boats, according to "Titanic: A Night Remembered."Β
At first, passengers remained relatively calm as the Titanic sank, NPR reported in 2012. The mood changed as more people started arriving on the upper decks where the lifeboats were located, one survivor told The BBC in 1979.Β
Most of the lifeboats didn't return to rescue people who had plunged into the water.
As they rowed away, some lifeboat passengers feared the suction created by the sinking ship would drag them under. Others feared desperate swimmers would swamp the boats.
Emily Borie Ryerson's lifeboat returned to pick up survivors, mostly crewmembers, she testified during a senate inquiry into the event.
They "were so chilled and frozen already they could hardly move," she said. The water was 28 degrees Fahrenheit, according to "Titanic: 25 Years Later with James Cameron," a National Geographic special about the movie.
The SS Californian was near the Titanic when it sank, but its radio was shut off for the night.
When flares from the Titanic woke the captain, he assumed they were "company rockets," or signals passed between ships owned by the same company, not distress signals, the BBC reported.
Between 10 and 19 miles away, the Californian would have reached the Titanic much more quickly than the Carpathia, which was around 58 miles away.
The Californian had also messaged the Titanic earlier, warning of ice. The luxury liner's telegraph operator responded that he was busy, telling the Californian to stop sending messages.Β
Instead, the RMS Carpathia responded to the Titanic's distress call and changed course to help.
Harold Cottam, the Carpathia's 21-year-old wireless operator, had planned to go to sleep for the night. First, though, he sent the Titanic a message to let them know he'd picked up transmissions meant for the luxury liner.Β
"Come at once. We have struck a berg," Jack Phillips, the Titanic's wireless operator, responded. At 12:35 a.m., Cottam alerted Arthur Rostron, the captain of the transatlantic passenger liner, who threw on a dressing gown and headed his vessel toward the sinking ship, BBC News reported in 2013.Β Β Β
"All this time, we were hearing the Titanic, sending her wireless out over the sea in a last call for help," Cottam told The New York Times in 1912.Β
Another ship, the Olympic, also heard the distress calls but was over 500 miles away, according to The Irish Independent.
Rostron ordered his crew to ready the Carpathia for survivors.
He stationed a doctor in each of the ship's three dining rooms, outfitting them with "restoratives and stimulants," per the US Senate's report on the disaster. The crew stocked the saloons with coffee, tea, soup, and blankets.Β
When the survivors came aboard, the chief steward and pursers would record their names so they could start sending them by telegraph. Β Β
Arriving around 4 a.m., the Carpathia came to the rescue of the survivors in the lifeboats.
The first lifeboat reached the Carpathia at 4:10 a.m. It took over four hours for the ship to pick up all of the survivors.
By 8:30 a.m., the final person from the Titanic's lifeboats had boarded the Carpathia.
The Carpathia discovered four bodies in the sea and lifeboats, which crew members buried at sea, according to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.Β
Captain Rostron ordered the nearby Californian to search the area for any additional survivors.Β
Β
Β
Those aboard the Carpathia tried to accommodate the survivors, but the life-changing experience left many inconsolable.
"The people on the Carpathia received us with open arms and provided us with hot comforts, and acted as ministering angels," Titanic survivor Archibald Gracie later said. Many voluntarily gave up their beds to the rescued passengers, according to a 2017 article in "Voyage: Journal of the Titanic International Society 101."Β Β
While the doctors treated people for sprains and bruises, one saw women and children crying as the search for other passengers was called off.Β
Augusta Ogden offered coffee to two distraught women. "Go away," they said. "We have just seen our husbands drown."
Β
Rather than contine along their original course, Carpathia's captain chose to return to New York City.
The closest port was Halifax, Nova Scotia, but getting there required traveling through more ice.Β
Rostron decided to return to New York, where the Titanic had been headed.Β
People flooded the White Star Line office in New York, wanting confirmation on the fate of the Titanic.
From the start, there were rumors that the company withheld information about the disaster, The Washington Post reported in 1912.
Philip Franklin, who was in charge of White Star Line at the time, denied knowing about the Titanic striking an iceberg shortly after it happened, Smithsonian Magazine reported in 2015.Β
Β
Β
Bad weather delayed the Carpathia's arrival in New York.
During the next few days aboard the Carpathia, survivors including Margaret Brown, who became known as the "Unsinkable Molly Brown" following the voyage, started a committee to help their fellow Titanic passengers.Β
The self-described survivors' committee raised thousands of dollars to thank the Carpathia's crew. Brown, Emma Bucknell, and Martha Stone created lists of basic necessities for the other survivors.Β
They camped in a dining room for hours, listening to other passengers as they "poured out their grief and story of distress," Brown later wrote.Β
As the Carpathia approached New York, reporters hired tugboats to sail alongside the ship to talk to survivors.
Carlos Hurd, a reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, was aboard the Carpathia when it raced to help the Titanic. He and his wife, Katherine, interviewed survivors and wrote down their stories.Β
Rostron wouldn't allow him to use the telegraph during the trip back to New York, so he tossed his notes to his colleague aboard one of the boats, The Missoulian reported in 2012.Β
Other journalists shouted at passengers through megaphones, offering $50 or $100 for interviews, WNYC reported in 2012.
The Carpathia eventually docked at Pier 54 on April 18 at around 9:15 a.m.
The ship had left from the same dock only seven days earlier, The New York Times reported in 2012.Β
Β
Thousands of people were waiting to welcome the survivors.
Families of passengers arrived hoping to be reunited with loved ones. Ambulances lined the streets waiting to tend to the survivors, The New York Times reported in 2010.Β
The Carpathia had rescued over 700 people from the freezing Atlantic.Β
Of the roughly 1,500 people who died aboard the Titanic, nearly 1,200 were crewmembers or third-class passengers.Β
The Carpathia's crew returned 13 of Titanic's lifeboats to the White Star Line.
Before docking to let the passengers off, the ship stopped to drop off the lifeboats at the White Star Line's Pier 59, according to the Hudson River Maritime Museum.Β
Practically overnight, passenger liners needed to have enough lifeboats for everyone on board, The New York Times reported in 2012.Β
Halifax later became the main port for ships retrieving bodies from the wreckage.
Three ships dispatched from Halifax were able to retrieve over 300 bodies from the wreckage, or one in five victims, according to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.Β
The first vessel sent to retrieve bodies, the Mackay-Bennett, ran out of embalming supplies β the ship didn't expect to find so many bodies in the water β forcing crew members to bury more people at sea than intended.
About half of the recovered bodies are buried in Halifax. Relatives claimed 59 bodies and returned them home. Most of the dead were crew members and third-class passengers who were trapped on lower decks, ABC News reported in 2020.
For his rescue efforts, Rostron received a Congressional Gold Medal.
Rostron was reluctant to speak publicly about his role in the Titanic rescue, though he did write an autobiography, "Home from the Sea," detailing his account of that fateful night.

A slow cooker or Crock-Pot can be a valuable yet underutilized tool in your kitchen.
A slow cooker can make many cozy comfort foods, from stews to simple soups and roasted meats.
Meats like brisket and short ribs become tender when made in a slow cooker.
There's nothing better than coming home to the comforting aroma of beef stew or pasta sauce simmering in a Crock-Pot, especially on those particularly cold winter days.
As the weather turns cooler, it's the perfect time to bring out your Crock-Pot or slow cooker to prepare hearty meals that cook on their own during the workday.
Business Insider spoke withΒ chefsΒ and cookbook authors about their favorite comfortingΒ slow-cooker meals, from hearty beef stews and chowders to brisket, and researched celebrity chef's go-to Crock-Pot dishes.Β
Here are 17 cozy comfort-food dishes you can make in a slow cooker, according to chefs.
Short ribs become extra tender when slow cooked.
Short ribs are one of cookbook author Kim Laidlaw's favorite things to make in a Crock-Pot, and they're a go-to on a chilly winter day.
"If you do them in a slow cooker, then the meat is out of the way," she told Business Insider. "Then, you can focus on other side dishes like polenta or risotto."
Stew is one of those slow-cooker meals where you can practically toss in the ingredients and walk away.
Beef, turkey, or chicken stew is a perfect stick-to-your-bones meal during the cold winter and fall months.
"Beef stew is really nice in the slow cooker," Laidlaw said. "That's something I grew up on with the slow cooker, and it's just as good today."
But stew is also hassle-free.
"Slow cookers are perfect in the winter for soups and stews," Laidlaw said. "The best part is that you can set it in the morning and walk away."
Corn chowder is another simple meal you can make with a few inexpensive ingredients.
If you make this chowder in the fall, you can use in-season fresh corn as is suggested in this celebrity chef-approved Martha Stewart recipe, found on the chef's website.
However, you can also take the easy route by choosing canned corn from the store. The chowder is flavorful yet light and uses heartwarming ingredients like heavy cream, bacon, and baby red potatoes.
Brisket is another meat that becomes super tender in a slow cooker.
Laidlaw's recipe for slow-cooked braised brisket includes garlic, onion, dry red wine, carrot, and chicken or beef stock, with a chimichurri sauce.
"Brisket is a natural partner for the slow cooker, as a gentle braise renders it meltingly tender," Laidlaw writes in "Everyday Slow Cooking."
Ribs can also be made in a Crock-Pot.
"Ribs do really well in the slow cooker, and you can always stick them under the broiler in the end to crisp them up," Laidlaw said.
Bolognese sauce is another great way to utilize your Crock-Pot.
"Bolognese is great because you can cook it for a long time," Laidlaw said. "You just have to remember that the sauce doesn't evaporate the same as it would if you were doing it on the stove. You definitely need to compensate and put less liquid in the pot if you're using a slow cooker."
You can also make mac and cheese in a slow cooker.
Celebrity chef Martha Stewart's recipe for slow-cooker mac and cheese is not only easy to make but super delicious and perfect for the fall and winter seasons.
"It is important to use pungent cheeses, such as sharp cheddar, mixed with a little Gruyere or pecorino Romano for extra bite, since the white sauce and pasta will absorb a lot of flavor," Stewart writes.
Chicken stock and broth are two kitchen staples you can make in a Crock-Pot.
Hugh Acheson's slow-cooker chicken broth is pretty simple β all you'll need is a whole chicken, salt, garlic cloves, white onions, carrots, celery, and a few seasonings to taste.Β
"A simple soup with Thai chilis, coconut milk, and lime is just wickedly good," Acheson said.
The recipe for Acheson's slow cooker chicken soup with chiles, coconut milk, and lime can be found here on Garden & Gun. Or, if you're feeling a little more adventurous, Acheson also said a slow cooker is a perfect way to make delicious chicken and dumplings.
Meatballs are another warming meal to make in a slow cooker.
Acheson points out that not only are meatballs, like the veal meatballs he includes in his book, easy and delicious to make, but they're a comforting, kid-friendly option you can make in a slow cooker.
"Slow cookers are not necessarily the best tool for cooking for one β they work so much better for nourishing an entire family," he said.
Acheson said his go-to slow-cooker meal on a winter's day is lentil soup with a little sour cream.
"I usually go for something that won't take too long," Acheson said. "Usually, I go for a lentil soup with Tuscan kale and a little sour cream and herbs on top. To me, that's the type of food you want as you're watching the snow fall down."
The recipe for Acheson's lentil soup with Tuscan kale can be found here on Cup of Jo.
Acheson also points out that large batches of soup are great for the next day.
Braised and pulled chicken is another great way to use your Crock-Pot.
One of the benefits of using a slow cooker is starting with a basic protein and jazzing it up.
From Mexican food-inspired spices to Indian simmer sauces, there are tons of ways to transform simple braised or pulled chicken dishes into something show-stopping.
This recipe from Delish tells you how to make slow-cooker barbecue pulled chicken.
Pork shoulder is a slow-cooker staple you can use in a number of dishes.
"One dish I think is so versatile is pork shoulder in a slow cooker with broth and a little salt and pepper," Laidlaw said. "I just braise that and then you can turn into so many different things."
Laidlaw explained that using a pork shoulder, you can make everything from pulled-pork sliders to carnitas tacos or burritos.
You can also prepare a leg of lamb in the slow cooker, but you might want to sear it first.
"Leg of lamb is so good as it breaks down in the slow cooker," Acheson said. "Cooking in the slow cooker and then finishing another way is going to make sure your meat is at its best. Whether that means re-searing the meat or throwing it under the broiler, you might want to think about other steps to really finish off your meal."
Laidlaw added, "Recipes that have you throw everything in without any prep ahead are not nearly as good or as flavorful as the ones that do. Taking ten minutes to brown the meat before you put it in or getting the onions started goes a long way to making your meals more delicious."
You can also make poached or braised fish in the slow cooker.
"It's really about rethinking recipes and figuring out how to do it in the slow cooker," Acheson said.
One of the "best recipes" Acheson said he uses from his book is one for a braised catfish stew, the recipe for which can be found on Garden & Gun.
"It's got this long-cooking, beautiful broth that's just a vision at the end," he told Business Insider. "It's got chilies, peppers, and mace β big flavors. It just works perfectly. When slow cooking, you really want to choose a dish that works well simmering potentially all day."
Goat shoulder is another delicious meal you can make in a Crock-Pot.
"These days, goat shoulder doesn't have that gamey taste it might have had before," Acheson said. "When you're talking about cooking a large piece of meat, a slow cooker is a great place to start."
You can even make a comforting dessert like cheesecake in a Crock-Pot.
One of the desserts Laidlaw includes in her book "Everyday Slow Cooking" is for gingersnap-brandy cheesecake, which would be perfect as a treat on a cold day or even a holiday dessert.
One could argue that fast-food chains are defined by their signature burgers.
I compared the Big Mac and the Whopper with cheese to find out which burger came out on top.
Burger King's Whopper impressed me with its flame-grilled patty and fresh toppings.
Practically every fast-food chain has a signature burger β¦ and some are better than others.
I decided to compare the most famous burgers from the two biggest burger chains in the US: McDonald's and Burger King.
I tried the McDonald's Big Mac and the Burger King Whopper with cheese to determine which classic fast-food burger is best based on taste and value.
Every fast-food chain is striving for value in 2025, amid price hikes and a competitive market with other brands. Even casual dining establishments like Chili's and Applebee's are fighting to offer customers the best deals.
On Tuesday, McDonald's announced it would be introducing a new value meal on the heels of its highly popular $5 value combo, in which customers can order any full-price menu item and get an additional menu item β with choices ranging from a six-piece chicken nugget to a double cheeseburger β for $1.
Here's how the McDonald's Big Mac stacked up against the Burger King Whopper.
First, I tried the Big Mac from McDonald's.
The Big Mac, often considered the most iconic fast-food burger, has been a McDonald's menu staple since 1967. Created by Pittsburgh franchise owner Jim Delligatti, the original Big Mac featured a triple-decker burger and sold for just 45 cents.
It was launched nationwide in 1968 and soon became the chain's signature item.
The Big Mac is topped with cheese, shredded lettuce, and a signature sauce.
The Big Mac consists of two 1.6-ounce beef patties, pickles, shredded lettuce, chopped onions, a slice of American cheese, and Mac sauce, all sandwiched between a sesame seed bun.
Similar to a club sandwich, a third bun is also placed in the middle of the sandwich.
It cost me $7.69, excluding tax, at my local McDonald's in Brooklyn, New York.
There was a generous serving of pickles and shredded lettuce on the burger.
The Big Mac is unique in that the top beef patty doesn't have any cheese or sauce on it β all of that goodness is toward the bottom of the burger.
I thought that the lettuce overpowered the burger, and overpowered the cheese, meat, and sauce flavors. I was hoping for a tangier kick from ketchup and mustard, or just more Big Mac sauce.
The extra bun made the burger taste dry.
The burger tasted noticeably dry, likely because the toppings were unevenly distributed, making it bottom-heavy. The cheese and Big Mac sauce were concentrated at the bottom, leaving the dry bun and patty to dominate the first bites with little flavor or moisture.
I liked the tanginess of the pickles and the sauce. I just wish their flavor was more prevalent.
While I recognize the Big Mac's iconic status on the McDonald's menu, it's far from my favorite. Next time, I'll stick with a Quarter Pounder.
Burger King's signature Whopper has been around for decades.
Burger King's iconic Whopper has been a staple since 1957, debuting just four years after the chain's founding. Priced at 37 cents, it offered a larger, premium option compared to the chain's original 18-cent burger.
What sets the Whopper β and all Burger King burgers β apart is their flame-grilling, which gives them a unique smoky flavor.
The Whopper is a classic cheeseburger.
A standard Whopper comes with a quarter-pound beef patty, pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and mayonnaise on a sesame seed bun.
I opted to order mine with cheese for a closer comparison to the Big Mac. At my local Burger King in Brooklyn, it cost me $8.49, excluding tax, putting it at 80 cents more than the Big Mac I tried.
The burger was piled high with lettuce, tomato, and condiments.
From the start, it was clear this burger was going to be bursting with flavor. Thick layers of ketchup and mayonnaise oozed from the sides, while the oversize bun managed to hold everything together.
This burger stood out as my favorite for its taste and texture.
The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were incredibly fresh, adding a satisfying crunch to the burger, and the cheese added a punch of rich flavor to each bite.
The patties had a smoky, savory flavor, giving the sandwich a just-grilled taste. I also appreciated the patty's shape β larger in diameter but flatter than other burgers β making it easier to eat.
All of the elements felt well-balanced, with not one single ingredient overpowering the others, like I felt happened with the shredded lettuce on the Big Mac.
Overall, I had to give the win to the Burger King Whopper.
I much preferred the flavors of the Whopper with cheese and thought it was more balanced. It tasted like a classic cookout burger, and the flavor of every ingredient came through in each bite.
I also thought the Whopper was worth the slightly higher price tag. It was more flavorful and was a large-sized fast-food burger for under $10 β something that's becoming increasingly rare these days as prices rise.
Football season is in full swing, and restaurant chains are rolling out crowd-pleasing tailgate favorites to win over fans.
In our series "Tailgate Taste-off," Business Insider is pitting these chains against each other to uncover the best versions of popular game-day dishes.
Nothing says football season like a juicy, classic cheeseburger from your favorite local chain, and while chicken products are one of the biggest fast-food and casual-dining trends as we kick off 2025, the burger still reigns supreme among many US consumers.
Restaurant Business reported that limited-service chains where burgers are a core menu item generated $110 billion in total sales in 2023, more than double the sales generated by limited-service chicken chains like Popeyes and Chick-fil-A.
In 2024, casual dining chains capitalized on America's need for beef.
Chili's and Applebee's introduced value meals that highlighted burgers. Chili's added itsΒ Big Smasher, a play on the McDonald's Big Mac, to its "3 For Me" value menu, while Applebee's released the "Really Big Meal Deal," which included a chicken sandwich or bacon cheeseburger, bottomless fries, and a drink for $9.99.
"We've always had incredible burgers on our menu, but for about a year now, we've been hearing more and more frustration from fast-food fans over rising costs," Chili's director of culinary, Brian Paquette, told Business Insider last spring, adding it's one of the reasons the chain is leaning into burgers and drawing inspiration from fast-food favorites.
We ranked classic cheeseburgers from four chain restaurants β Applebee's, Chili's, Buffalo Wild Wings, and TGI Fridays β based on taste and value.
Here's how the four chain restaurants' cheeseburgers ranked, from our least to most favorite.
My least favorite burger came from TGI Fridays.
I ordered the cheeseburger at the restaurant I visited in Massachusetts. It cost $12.49, excluding taxes and fees, and came with a side of french fries.
I live in New York City, but I had to travel further afield to try the chain's burger because many of my local TGI Fridays restaurants have closed.
In early November, the chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and Reuters reported that it was facing $37 million in debt, which led to some underperforming restaurants closing.
The TGI Fridays location I visited in Massachusetts is locally franchised and owned, so it's not included in the larger brand's bankruptcy filing.
The cheeseburger was topped with two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and red onion.
The burger, like the other burgers I tried in this taste test, was served on a brioche bun. When I lifted the burger to examine the toppings, I noticed that the very soft bun had partially stuck to the melted cheese.
This wasn't necessarily a knock on its own, but adding a sauce or butter to the bun could have made it less dry.
There's no sauce on the burger, but there's ketchup provided on every table, or you could request mustard or ketchup on it if you desired. However, I tried it completely on its own.
The burger was a touch overdone, even though I ordered it medium.
I requested my burger to be cooked medium, but it came out closer to well-done and was quite dry. That said, I did enjoy the flavor of the meat, which I found to be peppery and well-seasoned.
The sliced tomato tasted fairly fresh, but I found the lettuce limp and forgettable. The burger had a generous serving of pickles and onions, which I enjoyed. However, overall, I found this burger to be lacking in flavor, and a layer of sauce could have gone a long way.
The fries were also well-seasoned, and I enjoyed them.
Next up was the Oldtimer with cheese from Chili's.
At the Massachusetts location I visited, the most classic cheeseburger on Chili's menu cost $13.29, plus tax.
Though Chili's is not primarily a burger restaurant, burgers are a major part of the brand's strategy, which appears to be working.
"Over the past two and a half years, we've removed around a quarter of our menu to focus on our core four offerings: burgers, crispers, fajitas, and margaritas, which now represent 47% of our business," Kevin Hochman, the president and CEO of Chili's parent company Brinker International Inc., said in October.
In the chain's third-quarter earnings report, Chili's reported a 14% increase in same-restaurant sales and a 6.5% increase in traffic last summer compared to the same three-month period in 2023.
The Oldtimer Burger was topped with cheddar cheese, pickles, shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, diced red onions, and mustard.
The cheddar cheese was perfectly melted, and the burger patty also had a nice char on the outside. The burger was definitely cooked medium and had a nice juiciness to it while remaining slightly crispy on the outside.
When I lifted the top bun, I saw a light smear of mustard on top of the cheese. While it wasn't an enormous amount of mustard, it permeated each bite.
I thought the mustard could have been dialed back a bit.
The mustard was quite sharp, and while I do like mustard, it was a bit too much for me.
However, the rest of the burger really impressed me. The char on the smashed patty was perfectly crispy, and the other ingredients were fresh. The red onion brought a nice bite, and the brioche bun held everything together. I also liked the choice of shredded lettuce, which added a crispy freshness.
The fries were also solid: warm, crispy, and well-seasoned.
Overall, it was a good classic burger, but I've had Chili's burgers I've enjoyed more in the past, like the Big Smasher, which is their take on a McDonald's Big Mac, and the chain's southwestern-inspired Alex's Santa Fe burger.
My second favorite burger came from Applebee's.
I ordered the burger as part of the chain's "2 for $2X" deal, which also allowed me to get an order of boneless wings and a chicken tender basket.
However, the burger typically costs $16.99, excluding tax, at the location I visited in Brooklyn, New York.
This year, Applebee's teamed up with the NFL as the league's official grill and bar partner, recognizing a strong overlap between their customer base and NFL viewers.
"We know our guests are football fans," Applebee's chief marketing officer Joel Yashinsky told Business Insider, adding, "This season, we've been all in on the NFL."
Data collected by Applebee's in April revealed that 64% of its guests were interested in or very interested in the NFL, and around 34% had watched the NFL in the past year, which helped shape the chain's strategy for the football season, Yashinsky said.
The Classic Cheeseburger came with two slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles on a brioche bun.
There was a thick, gooey layer of cheese melted onto the burger. I thought the two slices of cheese did a lot to elevate this burger.
The outside of the burger patty was quite dark, which made me concerned it might have been cooked beyond the medium level I requested.
However, I found the burger was supremely juicy and cooked even slightly on the side of medium-rare.
The burger was slightly less done than the others I tried. I didn't mind one bit.
The melted, tangy cheese covered every square inch of this burger, making for a balanced bite. The thickly sliced red onion also added a lot of flavor, and I thought the lettuce and tomato tasted fresh.
This burger didn't have any sauce, but it wasn't dry at all thanks to the cheese and buttery bun that seemed to melt in my mouth.
Though it was very similar in ingredients to the TGI Fridays burger, it just tasted better, juicier, and fresher.
My favorite burger came from Buffalo Wild Wings.
I ordered the All-American Cheeseburger at my local Buffalo Wild Wings in Brooklyn, New York. It cost $14.49, excluding tax.
Since Buffalo Wild Wings is primarily known for its traditional and boneless wings, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this classic cheeseburger.
The burger came with two beef patties, American cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayonnaise, and mustard.
I was impressed that this burger came with two burger patties. Each patty was crispy on the outside and coated in gooey melted cheese.
When it arrived at the table, the bun was glistening, and inside was a hearty smear of mustard and mayonnaise.
The fries were tasty, thin, and well-salted, but I had to admit I preferred some of the other chains' thicker fries.
I thought this burger was a great value, and I scarfed down every delicious bite.
The mayonnaise and mustard added a lot of moisture and flavor to this burger, but it truly didn't need it.
The beef patties were juicy yet crispy, and the cheese was perfectly melted, adding a tangy, savory flavor to each bite. It felt like a more elevated version of a fast-food cheeseburger, and instantly transported me back to my childhood with its classic, fresh-tasting toppings and indulgent flavor.
The addition of the second patty really enhanced the burger. For just under $15, I also thought it was the best value of all the burgers I tried.
This burger delivered a winning bite, hitting all the right notes for a satisfying meal. I would definitely go back to try more of the chain's burgers β football season or not.
