The Florida Gators have been crowned champions of the 2025 men’s basketball NCAA Tournament after defeating the Houston Cougars, 65-63, in thrilling fashion on Monday night.
The Gators had not won the national title on the hardwood since doing so back-to-back in 2006 and 2007 under Billy Donovan. This is the program's third national title.
Florida battled the pesky Cougars all night, coming back in the second half to win it all.

Elon Musk's wealth dropped below $300 billion on Monday for the first time since last year, as the impacts of recent Tesla backlash and sweeping new tariffs collided.
The richest man in the world was worth $298 billion as of market close Monday, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Since the beginning of the year, Musk's net worth has declined nearly $135 billion, or around 31%, as calculated by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
It's been a sharp turnaround for the billionaire, who just in December became the first person ever to be worth more than $400 billion. Prior to Monday, his net worth had not dipped below $300 billion since November. His net worth was $264 billion on Nov. 6, according to Bloomberg.
The slide in Musk's net worth has been fueled by Tesla's share price slide, with the EV maker's stock down nearly 40% this year.
Musk and Tesla have faced significant backlash as a result of the CEO's work in the White House, where he serves as a close advisor to President Donald Trump, especially in the administration's push for government efficiency via the DOGE office.
Many Tesla investors and fans have expressed concern about Musk not focusing enough on the company. Last month, when Fox Business asked how he was managing his DOGE work and leading his various companies, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO said, "With great difficulty."
Despite rumors last week that Musk was planning an exit from the White House, he and the Trump administration dismissed the rumors and did not give a timeline for his eventual departure.
Tesla and Musk's wealth may also be affected by the sweeping tariffs announced by the Trump administration last week, which roiled financial markets. Musk, who has been largely loyal to Trump, has spoken out against tariffs.
On Saturday, he said he wanted "zero" tariffs and a "free trade zone" between the US and Europe, and on Monday, he shared a video of the economist Milton Friedman discussing the benefits of international trade.
Musk's wealth losses do not yet put him in jeopardy of losing the title of the world's richest person — runner-up Jeff Bezos was still trailing Musk by over $100 billion as of Monday.

Several A-listers have decided to say goodbye to Los Angeles and grow roots elsewhere.
Years after This Is Us came to an end, for example, star Chrissy Metz relocated from the City of Angels to Nashville.
“I was in L.A. for 21 years, but my family is in Florida, where I’m from, and during the pandemic, I could drive to them from here,” Metz explained to People in April 2025. It’s just a better quality of life here. Everything is 15 minutes away, and it’s just so much less stress.”
“Walking through the farm with kids and dogs and family, every stop, you’re pulling off of trees or off of bushes, pulling up out of the ground and feeding everyone as you’re moving through the farm,” Somerhalder said in a November 2023 interview with E! News, adding that farm living is “a lot” of work. “It’s unbelievable when you see these amazing creature life forms and how they all live on the farm together is really special.”

The Modern Family star has been living in Kansas City since the sitcom came to an end — which has led him to have a different perspective on Los Angeles life.

Eisenberg relocated to Indiana with his wife, Anna Strout, who is from the Midwestern state. “I’ve lived in Indiana for a decade on-and-off and that’s where I feel the most comfortable,” Eisenberg said in a February 2025 interview with CBS News. “I’m not somebody who wants to surround myself in an industry that just feels kind of unstable.”
McConaughey left Hollywood for Texas with his wife, Camila Alves. “When I was rolling in the rom-coms, and I was the rom-com dude … that was my lane and I liked that lane, that lane paid well, and it was working,” he said on a November 2024 episode of the “Good Trouble With Nick Kyrgios” podcast. “I was so strong in that lane that anything outside of that lane, dramas and stuff that I wanted to do, [they] were like, no, no, no, no, no. Hollywood said, ‘No, no, no, no, you should stay there, stay there.’”
He continued, “Since I couldn’t do what I wanted to do, I stopped doing what I was doing and moved down to the ranch in Texas. I made a pact with my wife and said, ‘I’m not going back to work unless I get offered roles I want to do.’”
The One Tree Hill alum and her husband, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, uprooted their Los Angeles life for a New York working farm. “Living on a farm was always a dream of mine, but I didn’t necessarily know how to make that work with the industry that I am in,” Burton told Good Morning America in June 2021.
After leaving Los Angeles, the Vampire Diaries alum told E! News in November 2023 that he and Reed are “farm people,” adding, “we produce most of our own food, I live in my cowboy boots.”
Duff, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Becca Tobin opened up to The New York Times in June 2021 about their decision to leave Los Angeles behind for the Lone Star state. “Once you come here, it’s hard to leave,” she said of Texas.
Sigler embraced the change of pace after leaving Los Angeles for Texas. “There was a lot of like, ‘Oh my God, look what we can get for this. Look at the life we can give ourselves,’ you know, compared to what we’re able to afford here in L.A.,” she told The New York Times in June 2021. “I just feel like we’re taking a big, deep breath since we got here.”
Tobin was surprised by the transition out of Los Angeles to Texas. “You mean I can get in my car, drive five minutes and not fight people when I’m in the grocery store to get in a lot?” she recalled to The New York Times in June 2021. “Oh, and you don’t pay for parking anywhere.”
The Kim Possible star and her husband, Brendan Rooney, said goodbye to Hollywood and moved to Austin, Texas. “I love that the girls can kind of be out of the Hollywood area,” she told People in a March 2024 interview. “I love California, we have our PodCo offices there. And I also truly feel at home in Austin. I have a really strong community of friends there, and I've really found a way to set down roots.”
Swank and Philip Schneider relocated to Colorado. “I have been looking for land since I was in my mid-20s,” she told Architectural Digest in November 2022. “I find nature to be my happiest place, and animals are my other happiest place. And to be with both of them is everything to me.”
Wahlberg reflected on moving to Las Vegas with his family in an August 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I mean, I got to tell you that I miss it right now standing here,” he said at the premiere of Netflix’s The Union. “I always miss it. I loved it [here]. But raising teenagers who are growing, I wanted to make sure that they’re put, first and foremost, in a good, safe, healthy environment where they can thrive, pursue their interests and goals and go after what they want to do in life. Carrie Coon shared the inspiration behind her now viral run from The White Lotus season 3 finale — and it’s all too relatable.
“There wasn’t direction,” Coon, 44, told Variety in an interview published on Monday, April 7, revealing that her character Laurie’s mad dash after hearing gunshots during the Sunday, April 6, episode was entirely her own doing.
The actress explained, “I knew the gunshot was going to happen, and we were going to run into the bushes, essentially.”

During the season finale, Laurie, Kate (Leslie Bibb) and Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) witnessed Rick (Walton Goggins) shooting Sritala’s (Lek Patravadi) husband, Jim (Scott Glenn), who is revealed to be Rick’s father, on a bridge in Thailand. The moment they heard the gunshot, all three women made a run for it.
Laurie led the way, sprinting from the scene like she was a college track star. Kate and Jaclyn weren’t far behind, screaming as they tried to find safety. There was also a splash as someone else jumped in the lagoon.

Rick, for his part, died during the finale after he was shot during an altercation with Sritala’s guard. His girlfriend, Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood), was also shot and killed during the fight.
“To be honest, I’m a bit of a head case right now. I’m crying in my car. This show is my whole life, then it’s over and I’m back in my house with my dog, trying to remember who my friends are and what did I do before the show,” creator Mike White told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published on Wednesday, April 2, teasing the finale. “I don’t want to become one of those crazy people who’s lost the plot.”
He added: “I had to take these MMPI psych tests, and they were like, ‘You’ve become one standard deviation less nice than you were in 2018.’ Yep, that sounds right.”
Charlotte Le Bon, who played Chloe on the show, revealed to THR at the time that, “People are going to hate Mike White” based on who he killed off.

In 2018, Thiessen revealed on SiriusXM’s You Up With Nikki Glaser that she auditioned to play Rachel Green, the Friends character who eventually made Jennifer Aniston a TV icon.
“Did you know I tested for Friends, for Jennifer Aniston?” the actress confirmed. “I was just a little too young. I was a little too young to the pairing of the rest of them.”
Thiessen was only 20 years old during Friends’ casting search, so it’s perhaps no surprise she landed her breakout post–Saved by the Bell role as Valerie Malone in Beverly Hills, 90210 instead.

The Golden Globe winner told People in 2018 that his love of musicals inspired him to pursue playing the boastful hunter Gaston in Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast.
“I auditioned for Beauty and the Beast,” Elba confirmed. “For the movie, yeah! I called, I said, ‘I want in!’ They said, ‘Uh, you know, uh, well, OK.’ So, somewhere they have a tape of me singing.”
Luke Evans ultimately was cast as Gaston, perhaps because he had more musical experience from his starring roles in Rent and Miss Saigon in London’s West End.

Brown has some notable experience playing genetically modified killing machines (hello, Eleven in Stranger Things!) so it makes sense that she auditioned to play Wolverine’s surrogate daughter X23 in 2017’s X-Men movie Logan.
The actress revealed to Variety that she had her heart set on the Marvel role, especially because of the incredible talent involved with the project.
“I was like, ‘It’s going to be amazing, I’m going to really prepare,’ and I sat in my room reading the lines,” she said in 2017. “Honestly, for me, I felt so — I felt [like] an actor, in the audition room, hitting [star] Hugh Jackman, and [director] James Mangold sitting right in front of me.”
Dafne Keen was eventually cast as X23, a role she reprised in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
“I watched [Logan]; she was incredible,” Brown said of Keen. “It meant so much to me.”
Dwayne Johnson

The Rock is no stranger to action franchises, given his appearances in the Fast & Furious Saga, G.I. Joe, Jumanji and The Mummy Returns, though there’s one action hero he never got a chance to play.
The former WWE champion confirmed via Twitter (now X) in 2017 that he wanted to bring author Lee Child’s military police hero Jack Reacher to the big screen before Tom Cruise landed the role.
“Luv the character. Bout 10yrs ago I went after the role, but Cruise got it. Was great motivation for me to always stay hungry,” Johnson wrote.
Cruise played Jack Reacher in two feature films before Amazon rebooted the franchise as a live-action TV series starring Alan Ritchson in the title role.

“[That] was a movie I loved,” she said. “It was for Maya Rudolph‘s part. I practiced it so much and was so into it and I loved that whole cast.”
Kaling admitted that being passed over for the Kristen Wiig–starring comedy blockbuster was a “heartbreaker” because she was so excited to work with the movie’s all-star cast, which included Melissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson.

Titanic’s climactic goodbye for its star-crossed lovers may have had an entirely different vibe if McConaughey had won the role of Jack Dawson instead of Leonardo DiCaprio.
McConaughey confided in a 2016 Playboy interview that he made it far enough along in the Titanic audition process that he thought he was a lock to play Jack.
“It was one of those auditions where I left and thought I had it,” he said. “I really enjoyed it. Kate Winslet really enjoyed it. That was a huge opportunity. But [director James Cameron] liked Leonardo DiCaprio better.”
Presumably, there were no hard feelings when McConaughey and DiCaprio teamed up on The Wolf of Wall Street nearly 20 years later, since both men ended up with impressive careers.

The Footloose star revealed during a 2025 appearance on The View that he unsuccessfully campaigned to play a drummer in Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.
Bacon seemingly had an edge because he’d previously worked with Spinal Tap II director Rob Reiner on the Oscar-nominated 1992 legal drama A Few Good Men, yet in the end, he wasn’t invited to join The Tap.
“Somebody called [Reiner] for me, and I didn’t get the part,” Bacon revealed. “Spinal Tap, I’m so excited about part two, and the original it was a running joke that they just had drummers that would disappear.”
As Bacon mentioned, it may be for the best that he wasn’t cast in Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, since every single one of the band’s (completely fictional) drummers have died under strange circumstances, from onstage explosions to being eaten whole by a snake.
Eddie Redmayne

Prior to Redmayne winning an Oscar for playing Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, he was in the running for Star Wars villain Kylo Ren before Adam Driver landed the job. Apparently, Redmayne’s Star Wars audition didn’t go well.
“They gave me like a Star Trek scene — or like something from Pride and Prejudice,” Redmayne told Uproxx in 2016. “It was one of those films. With films that top secret, they don’t give you the actual lines. So they give you a scene from Pride and Prejudice, but then they tell you you’re auditioning for the baddie. If you’re me, you then put some ridiculous voice on.”
Redmayne went on, “That was really a hilarious moment. Because it was [casting director] Nina Gold, who I have to thank a lot because she’s cast me in several films. And she was just sitting there and I was trying again and again with different versions of my kind of ‘koohh paaaah’ [Darth Vader breathing sound] voice. And after, like, 10 shots, she’s like, ‘You got anything else?’ I was like, ‘No.’”

The whole course of celebrity culture may have been radically different if the No Doubt singer was cast opposite Brad Pitt in 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith instead of Angelina Jolie.
It’s almost inconceivable to imagine a Brangelina-less alternate timeline, but at least according to Stefani, it nearly happened.
During a 2016 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Stefani said she’d had “a bunch of auditions” to play badass assassin Jane Smith in the action movie.
“I feel like I almost got it,” Stefani told host Howard Stern, before clarifying: “[It was] very competitive and I wanted to do it, but I wanted to do music more.”
While Stefani’s casting in Mr. & Mrs. Smith may seem like a stretch nowadays, she was building an impressive resume of acting roles around the time Mr. & Mrs. Smith came about. The most memorable of Stefani’s early roles was portraying Hollywood icon Jean Harlow opposite DiCaprio in legendary director Martin Scorsese‘s The Aviator in 2004.

Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke shared an internal memo laying out an aggressive AI plan for the company.
In it, he says before managers hire anyone new, they must prove that AI couldn't do the job better.
Shopify's attrition rate and its embrace of AI have coincided in recent years.
The CEO of Shopify is asking managers to prove that AI couldn't do a better job before requesting to hire someone new.
In an internal memo titled "AI usage is now a baseline expectation," Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke said that "using AI well is a skill that needs to be carefully learned" by "using it a lot," and that AI usage is "now a fundamental expectation of everyone at Shopify."
"Before asking for more Headcount and resources, teams must demonstrate why they cannot get what they want done using AI," Lütke wrote in the memo that he posted on X after it was leaked. "What would this area look like if autonomous AI agents were already part of the team? This question can lead to really fun discussions and projects."
Lütke added that AI usage questions will also be added to Shopify's "performance and peer review questionnaire" and that employees will "have access to as much cutting edge AI tools as possible."
"This applies to all of us, including me and the executive team," Lütke wrote.
Shopify did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.
In early 2023, the company began improving customer service levels by embracing generative AI to handle some tasks that support employees had previously done.
Later that year, it laid off 20% of its workforce, rescinded job offers for former interns, and sold its logistics business Deliverr, which it acquired in 2022 for $2.1 billion.

Remi Bader is cleaning out her closet after undergoing weight-loss surgery.
Bader, 30, took to Instagram on Sunday, April 6, to show off her bikini body and share that she’s clearing out her wardrobe. “I think I’ve been a little — not a little — I’ve been completely in denial about what my size is for a long time so I need to get rid of a lot of things in my closet and also get new things,” she said while rocking a navy blue bikini with a floral on her bust and bottoms.
She then zoomed the camera into her torso. “These are my stretch marks from prior,” she said, also showing her scars from the procedure called a single anastomosis duodenal-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S).
The influencer continued, “I feel like a lot of my weight went to my stomach, so I do have loose skin. No skin removal surgery here, but there is nothing against it.”

I’m probably the only person that’s ever gone to a doctor for weight loss to be like, ‘OK, but can I still be curvy?’ It’s really confusing to be so quickly in a different body but have the exact same brain.”
