Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom: A Timeline of Their Relationship
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s high-profile relationship, which started in January 2016, has included a dance-off, a nude paddleboarding session, a meeting with the pope and just about everything in between.
The singer and the actor dated from January 2016 to March 2017 before briefly calling it quits. They were officially back together by February 2018, and one year later, he proposed on Valentine’s Day.
While the duo had big plans for their nuptials, they were forced to postpone first in late 2019 because of a problem with the location and then again in early 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Amid their ever-changing wedding plans, Perry announced in March 2020 that she was expecting their first child — a baby girl. Their daughter, Daisy Dove, arrived in August 2020.

Zayn Malik Through the Years: From One Direction to Solo Hitmaker
Zayn Malik almost missed his chance at fame. On the morning of his audition for The X Factor UK in 2010, he felt so nervous that he decided not to go — that is, until his mother, Tricia, basically dragged him out of bed and helped change his mind. The rest, as they say, was history.
In the middle of the competition, creator and judge Simon Cowell grouped Malik with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson to form a boy band named One Direction. The fivesome went on to conquer the world, releasing four albums together in the same number of years and performing at historic stadiums across North America, Europe and beyond.
Malik abruptly left the group in 2015 in the middle of one of their On the Road Again tour. He explained to fans that there was not a rift between the members, but he simply wanted time away from the spotlight.
“We went from theaters to arenas to stadiums — there was never any sort of bridge between. Just boom, boom, boom,” he told British Vogue in 2018. “I guess that kind of progression to any mind — but especially when you’re 17, 18 — it kind of affects you a little bit. People take it different ways — especially when there are five different personalities. The relationships had broken apart.”
Malik has since become a solo artist, releasing three feature-length albums.

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik: A Timeline of Their Relationship
Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have been through a whole lot since their off-and-on relationship began.
The former One Direction singer announced the arrival of the couple’s first child, daughter Khai, in September 2020.
“Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful,” Malik wrote via X at the time. “To try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task.”
Hadid and Malik’s romance started in a very traditional way in November 2015. “I just asked her [out]. It was pretty straight-up,” he recalled on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up in December 2016. “A gentleman never tells the full details! But, yeah, we met and we spoke, and we went on a date.”
Hadid and Malik broke up for the first time in June 2016, but they were back together within a matter of days. From that point forward, their romance was full steam ahead — at least for a few years. The pair called it quits for the second time in March 2018, but once again, the breakup didn’t last very long. They reunited a month later, only to go their separate ways one last time in January 2019.
Us broke the news in January 2020 that the lovebirds were back together again after “trying to make it work” for several months. They welcomed Khai nine months later, but multiple sources confirmed to Us in October 2021 that the pair split once again.

Nina Dobrev and Shaun White's Relationship Timeline
Nina Dobrev and Shaun White’s romance got very serious, very quickly — and in October 2024, they announced their engagement.
The Vampire Diaries alum and the professional snowboarder sparked dating rumors in February 2020 when fans noticed that they had shared similar photos from a trip to South Africa. Us Weekly broke the news the following April that Dobrev and White were, in fact, a couple.
After the twosome made their relationship Instagram official in May 2020, things continued to heat up even as they balanced their respective schedules and careers.
“We have a nice little system of how to stay in touch [and] plane tickets are pretty much booked for any opportunity that we can go see one another,” White exclusively told Us in October 2021. “You just make it work. … I think that’s the goal of it all and the key to it all is just making the time. [Nina’s] super organized and on top of it, so I give it to her. She always finds a way to make it happen.”

Jimmy Carter, Longest-Living U.S. President, Dies at 100
Former president Jimmy Carter died on Sunday, December 29. He was 100.
“My father was a hero, not only to me but to everyone who believes in peace, human rights, and unselfish love,” Carter’s son Chip said in a statement released via his eponymous Carter Center. “My brothers, sister and I shared him with the rest of the world through these common beliefs. The world is our family because of the way he brought people together, and we thank you for honoring his memory by continuing to live these shared beliefs.”
Carter became the longest-living former president in U.S. history in March 2019 when he surpassed the late George H.W. Bush, who died in November 2018 at 94 years and 171 days old. Carter and his wife of 76 years, Rosalynn Carter, were also the longest-married first couple, surpassing Bush and Barbara Bush.
Prior to his death, the Carter Center, the former president’s foundation, announced in February 2023 that he was entering hospice care.
Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter's Relationship Timeline
“After a series of short hospital stays, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention,” the statement read. “He has the full support of his family and his medical team.”
Nine months later, Rosalynn also began end-of-life care. The Carter Center confirmed on November 19, 2023, that she had “peacefully” died at the age of 96.
The politician battled numerous health issues in the final years of his life. He announced in December 2015 that he was cancer-free, months after metastatic melanoma spread throughout his body, including to his brain. Three and a half years later, he underwent surgery for a broken hip. Jimmy suffered two more falls at his Georgia home in October 2019. Despite having to get 14 stitches above his left eye as a result of the first fall, he traveled to Nashville to work with Habitat for Humanity volunteers and helped build a home. In November 2019, he was admitted to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta to undergo a procedure to relieve pressure on his brain, caused by bleeding due to his recent falls.
Jimmy, who was the first U.S. president to be born in a hospital, grew up in Plains, Georgia, with three siblings: Gloria, Ruth and Billy Carter. He studied at Georgia Southwestern College and the Georgia Institute of Technology before being admitted to the Naval Academy in 1943. He met Rosalynn, who had been friends with his sister Ruth, while attending the academy. The couple married in 1946 after Jimmy’s graduation. He later became a member of the U.S. Navy in the submarine program before leaving active duty in 1953 to take over his family’s peanut business in Georgia in the wake of his father’s death.
A Guide to Jimmy, Rosalynn Carter’s Family in Honor of His 100th Birthday
As an active member of the Democratic Party, Jimmy decided to run for office in the early 1960s. He served in the Georgia State Senate from 1963 to 1967. Three years later, he was elected governor.
During that time, the civil rights activist and evangelical Christian was not widely known outside of his home state. However, he managed to secure a nomination in the 1976 presidential election and went on to defeat incumbent Republican president Gerald Ford to become the 39th POTUS.
Jimmy got to work right away, pardoning Vietnam War draft dodgers on his second day in the White House. During his four years in office, he established the Department of Energy and the Department of Education, in addition to making an energy policy his top domestic priority. In foreign affairs, Jimmy found success with his mediation of the Camp David Accords.
Despite his achievements, Jimmy faced many challenges as commander in chief. He infamously delivered what would come to be known as the “Crisis of Confidence” speech in 1979, in which he blamed the country’s problems on the poor spirit of its citizens. He also struggled to enact legislation due to his oft-tempestuous relationship with Congress. In the final stretch of his presidency, he came under fire for the way he handled the Iranian hostage crisis, in which dozens of Americans were held captive for 444 days.
Celebrity Deaths in 2023: Stars We Lost
Jimmy ran for re-election in 1980, but Ronald Reagan won the popular and electoral votes.
After leaving the Oval Office in 1981, Jimmy received a great deal of praise for his humanitarian work. He worked extensively with Habitat for Humanity and founded the Carter Center human rights organization. In 2002, Jimmy was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in finding peace in international conflicts.
Prior to his death, the Faith author made arrangements to be buried in front of his Georgia home.
Jimmy is survived by his and Rosalynn’s children — sons Jack, James and Donnel and daughter Amy — and more than 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Breaking Down One Direction's Solo Careers by the Numbers
Since One Direction’s 2016 split, members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik have each embarked on their own solo careers.
Malik was the first to do so after abruptly leaving the boy band in March 2015. He subsequently signed a solo contract with RCA Records, and released his debut album, Mind of Mine, the following year.
Styles followed suit in June 2016, re-signing with Columbia Records and dropping his self-titled debut in May 2017. Horan, meanwhile, inked a deal with Capitol Records in September 2016, and released his first album, Flicker, in October 2017.
Payne and Tomlinson, meanwhile, put out a series of singles before releasing their debut albums LP1 and Walls in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
Despite parting ways, the former boy banders remained in touch over the years and even reunited at Payne’s funeral in November 2024 funeral. (Paye died at age 31 one month prior after falling from a third story hotel balcony in Argentina.)
“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing,” the remaining members wrote in a joint statement in October 2024. “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever.”
