After announcing the birth of their third child, star quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes shared some insight into how he passed the time at the hospital.

Just after the start of the new year, Patrick and Brittany Mahomes welcomed their second daughter, Golden Raye, into the world on Sunday, January 12.

According to Sports Illustrated, Patrick revealed during a press conference that he managed to sneak in some playoff prep as Brittany prepared for birth.

“I’m just supporting, you know. Brittany crushed it. It’s been cool to welcome another baby girl in our family and see how my other kids react to her,” Patrick said.

“It was cool that football was on TV when I was in the hospital, so I got to watch a little bit,” he revealed.

“Brittany was kind enough to let us watch football as she was getting ready to give birth to our second daughter.”

Patrick and Brittany are also parents to 3-year-old Sterling Skye and 2-year-old Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III.

Patrick was able to be present for the birth of this third child after the Chiefs clinched the top seed in the AFC, giving them a bye the first round of the playoffs.

“It was cool that we got the bye,” he told reporters, according to KSBY, “just cause you can kind of really focus in on just being at the hospital and being in the moment.”

“It’s a special moment that a lot of dads and moms have experienced, and you don’t forget about that stuff. So I was glad I was able to be there and support in the best way I can.”

After sharing with the world in September that she had completed her chemotherapy treatments, Princess Kate Middleton is in remission.

In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, January 14, Middleton wrote, “I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year.”

“My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything,” the princess continued. “We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”

“In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer.”

“It is a relief to now be in remission,” she shared. “And I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.”

In a rare public outing this month, Kate and Prince William visited the hospital where she underwent her cancer treatments after receiving a diagnosis in early 2024.

During her visit, the Daily Mail reports that Kate talked with the staff and other patients in the midst of their own cancer battles.

During one of her conversations, the princess got honest about the side effects that come with various cancer treatments.

“You think treatment’s finished, crack on with that … daily tasks, but that’s still like a real challenge,” she told the hospital staff.

“And talking … the words totally disappear… understanding that as a patient, yes there are side effects around treatment, but actually there are more long-term side effects.”

Kate continued to say how important it is to continue holistic care “on good days and bad days,” the Daily Mail reports.

“I feel like it’s sometimes for the loved ones around us. They need support just as much as I did as the patient.”

In a conversation with a current patient, Kate said, “The resilience you need to get through, first of all, a small taster of what you’ve gone through … It’s to keep coming back … to be as positive as you are. The treatments are really so different and so varied, it impacts families differently.”

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said Kate decided to visit the Royal Marsden Hospital “to both show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world-leading care and treatment the Marsden provides.”

In her September video, Kate explained “the last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

“This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life,” she continued, “which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”

After separating in 2017, it was several years before actors Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor reconciled.

Now, after nearly 25 years of marriage, Stiller is opening up about their time apart and their decision to try again.

While talking with The New York Times, Stiller discussed his marriage not being “in a great place” after moving from California back to New York following the release of Zoolander 2, a flop that “blindsided” Stiller.

“There was a lot going on,” Stiller said. “When we separated, it was just having space to see what our relationship was, what my life felt like when we weren’t in that relationship, how much I loved our family unit.”

“It was like three or four years that we weren’t together but we always were connected. In my mind, I never didn’t want us to be together,” he continued.

“It was almost a year of living in the same house before we were actually together,” Stiller explained. “But I’m so grateful for it, and I think not that many people do come back together when they separate.”

Stiller added: “There’s nothing like that, when you come back. You have so much more appreciation for what you have, because we know we could not have it.”

In a conversation with Drew Barrymore in 2023, Taylor said the reconciliation during the pandemic “was for us.”

“We got married very quickly,” Taylor recalled of their 2000 wedding. “We knew each other six months got engaged. We were married within a year, and then had Ella the next year.”

“I think of us, life just, especially in this business and careers, a lot of work and family was always a priority, but I think Ben and I both sort of started to grow in different directions.”

Celebs Share How to Help Those Affected by LA Wildfires: Guide to Resources

It’s a conversation so many are having this week amidst the devastation.

According to Ashley Etheridge and Dandelion Family Counseling, it’s important to only “share just enough information.”

“If a child witnesses a fire, or the aftermath of a fire, it can be helpful to only share brief, factual, age-appropriate information,” Etheridge writes. “Children need a way understand scary or confusing news and integrate it into their brains.”

In addition to sharing what is necessary with your children, Etheridge adds that a parent should “validate” their children’s feelings.

“Validating a child’s feelings is always important. This creates safety and connection. You could reflect, ‘Learning news about a fire can be scary. My job as a parent is to keep you safe.’”

It can also be helpful to give your child purpose by helping out those in the community affected by the tragedy, Etheridge writes.

“Sometimes children and individuals can feel powerless after a fire.” By making donations or bringing the fire fighters food and water can help kids “regain some sense of safety and control.”

The International Association of Fire Fighters also iterates the importance of keeping as normal a schedule as possible for the kids.

“In chaotic or emotional times, it is critical for your child that you stay consistent with mundane routines, such as pick-up and drop-off schedules and family meals,” the IAFF reports, adding that giving children even more of your time and attention can be helpful as they cope.

“These rituals help convey a sense of normalcy to your child and send the message, ‘Even though this tragedy occurred, I am still here for you and your world is not changing.’”

And the City of Petaluma suggests encouraging kids to talk about what they are feeling.

“Let children talk about the disaster and ask questions as much as they want. Encourage children to describe what they’re feeling. Listen to what they say.”

And it’s important to stay together.

“While you look for housing and assistance, you may want to leave your children with relatives or friends. Instead, keep the family together as much as possible and make children a part of what you are doing to get the family back on its feet,” the City of Petaluma reports.

“Children get anxious, and they’ll worry that their parents won’t return.”

After her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, Dance Moms alum Paige Hyland is opening up about her own heath scare.

On TikTok, Hyland revealed that she was going in to have a breast ultrasound done because she discovered a lump during a self-exam.

“I’m a little bit nervous,” she said in the video. “I’ve been having a lump on my boob that’s been hurting so I’m getting (an ultrasound) done on both of them just to be safe.”

In August, Kelly shared a video of herself ringing a bell signifying the end of her first breast cancer treatment.

“I got to ring the bell today. This was the end of my first treatment… next steps surgery, 20 radiation and 11 more treatments. I GOT THIS,” she captioned the video.

In her own video, Paige said that because of “everything going on with my mom,” referring to her current cancer battle, she’d “rather be safe than sorry.”

In an interview with E! News, Kelly said the first symptom she noticed before being diagnosed with breast cancer, specifically invasive carcinoma grade 3, was “significant weight loss.”

Eight years after winning “America’s Got Talent” at the age of 12, Grace VanderWaal is blowing people away yet again.

In honor of her role in Francis Ford Coppola’s film “Megalopolis,” the performer took the stage at the 47th Kennedy Center Honors where she sang, “The Impossible Dream.”

“Dear Santa Hugo, I have been working hard at school all year and making sure my grades are all As. I have also been working on my jumpshot but my jumpshot in (NBA)2K needs some work,” the emcee read.

The note then asked Santa Hugo for a PS5 and he was presented with just that.

The kid looked thrilled as they rushed him off the court before the game resumed.

However, a tweet from Adam Turner later revealed that after the kid was removed from the court, the Hornets organization took the PS5 away and replaced it with a Hornets jersey.

“You guys want to see a cheap sports organization,” the tweet began. “In this video my best friend (and) his nephew get called onto court for a special segment where they gift the kid a PS5 publicly… (with) cameras off they TOOK IT AWAY and gave him a jersey.”

“Take a bow, Hornets,” the tweet concluded, “crushed the kid.”

Turner added in the comments that they should have told his friend’s nephew that it was a “skit” beforehand or just gifted him the jersey on camera instead.

“Just don’t make it a gift!! Take jerseys and stuff from fan shop that cost you less. Pretending to give stuff away to kids before Xmas and not letting them keep it is grinch level work.”

As the “skit” went viral, the Hornets organization responded with a statement of their own.

“During last night’s game there was an on-court skit that missed the mark,” the response began. “The skit included bad decision making and poor communication. Simply put, we turned the ball over and we apologize. We have reached out to the family and are committed to not only making it right but to exceeding expectations. We will be providing the fan with the PS5 that he should have taken home last night along with a VIP experience to a future game. Our goal is and will remain to elevate the guest experience for every person that enters Spectrum Center, and to show our fans how much we appreciate their relentless support.”

In an interview with Queen City News, the child’s uncle Alexei Phillips said at the start of the game he was approached by a member of the Hornets staff.

“Someone from their fan team kind of reached out to us and said, ‘Hey, do you guys wanna be on the court with Hugo?’ And we said sure,” he told the station.

But right before they walked onto the court, Phillips said one of the staffers quickly whispered to him that his nephew wouldn’t be able to keep the PlayStation 5.

“It got pretty awkward,” Phillips said after the PlayStation 5 was taken from his nephew. “Because [the staffer] had to make it clear he wasn’t joking.”

In the end, Phillips told Queen City News he doesn’t have hard feelings toward the Hornets but seconded what his friend said on X.

“The funny thing is, if he had just gone out in the first place and they just gave him a jersey out there on the court, he would have been stoked, you know.”

When lifestyle and design guru Joanna Gaines took to Instagram to share a video, her followers were left feeling she is just like them.

As she explained in the video, when she went to bed the night before, she had every intention of waking up and getting started on her holiday baking.

So much so that she had laid out the many ingredients she would need on her kitchen counters.

However, by the time morning rolled around, she lost motivation and decided to postpone the baking she had planned until later.

But because she had friends coming over later that day, Gaines had to make sure her home was presentable for when her guests arrived. Meaning all of the ingredients she had laid out the night before needed to be put away.

And that’s when she shared her little holiday life hack. “Some tips and tricks if you are hosting this holiday season,” she captioned the video.

“(I) had to hide everything,” Gaines admitted. “So let me show you how you do that. Let me show you the trick.”

As the camera panned around, she moved toward the dishwasher.

“So earlier, there were ingredients on that,” she said pointing to her kitchen island, “there were ingredients on that,” she said point to a far off counter, “ingredients on the floor.”

“But now,” Gaines continued as she opened the dishwasher, “thanks to modern technology, dual purpose dishwasher.”

As Gaines showed the inside of her dishwasher, she revealed it to be filled with the many ingredients that once covered the counters and floor of her kitchen.

But it didn’t stop there.

Gaines had also filled up her utensil drawers and the space underneath her sink.

“No one will know,” she shared.

And her Instagram followers loved Gaines’ honesty.

“I laughed. Out. Loud. When you opened that dishwasher!!” one commenter wrote.

“There’s always an incredible reminder of why I adore you beyond just your impeccable taste,” another added.

“So what you are saying is that you are a normal human? You are awesome,” read another comment.

Soon, people began sharing their favorite hiding places as well.

“I once hid dirty dishes that I didn’t have time to clean in my bathtub before my guests arrived. Thank goodness they weren’t staying overnight,” a commenter shared.

“Did this once,” said another follower. “Put a bunch of stuff in my car trunk because people were coming over.”

“This is so funny and real! When our house was for sale, I was unexpectedly asked to show our house. I hid things in the dishwasher and dryer.”
