Ariana Grande Reacts to Rumors She’s Playing Audrey Hepburn

9 January 2025 at 10:31

Could Wicked star Ariana Grande take on the role of Audrey Hepburn in an upcoming biopic? If you ask the actress herself, the answer is probably not.

Grande was asked the question while speaking to Access Hollywood at the National Board of Review’s annual gala Tuesday, January 7. “Oh my goodness, why is everyone asking me this? You’re insane!” she answered. “You’re insane, you’re insane, you’re insane. You’re insane. I love you.”

The idea was proposed after the interviewer noted Grande was “kind of channeling” the Breakfast at Tiffany’s star with her fashion choice.

Grande admitted she’s “always loved old-Hollywood glamour” and that both Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe “have always been my references.”

“I’ve always gravitated toward ’50s, ’60s silhouettes, and retro vintage … I can’t even think of a time when that wasn’t my vision board. But it’s been more fun to have more places to really do that,” she added. “My stylist, Mimi [Cuttrell], and I have been leaning all the way in.”

Rumors that Grande could take on the role of Hepburn were indeed sparked in part thanks to Givenchy. After the actress wore a yellow gown from the designer to the Golden Globes this week, the fashion house noted in a release, “The dress is pale-yellow silk with a hand-beaded bodice … from the epic Givenchy Haute Couture/Audrey Hepburn era … one of the most important unions between a designer and muse.”

A planned Hepburn biopic was announced in 2022 with actress Rooney Mara attached to star. Mara has since told Deadline the movie is “not completely dead” but director Luca Guadagnino is no longer attached.

Grande will next be seen in Wicked: For Good, the second part of the John Chu-directed film. The movie will land in theaters November 21, 2025. Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater and Marissa Bode will all reprise their original roles in the second film.

Timothée Chalamet just made one Bob Dylan megafan’s dreams come true — but he might have caused a little family discord in the process.

On Wednesday, January 8, sports radio host Chris “Mad Dog” Russo told his followers on social media that he’d been invited to the London premiere of Chalamet’s new Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown after the star slid into his DMs.

Russo, 65, a longtime Dylan fan who hosts his own Sirius XM sports radio show,  had spent the weeks ahead of the event sharing his frustration at being left off of the film’s press run. He told listeners that he even reached out to Chalamet’s father in an attempt to have the actor guest on his show and talk about Dylan’s music.

Despite those ups and downs, Russo’s efforts were ultimately successful. After Russo went on a lengthy rant about the upcoming premiere on Tuesday, January 7, Chalamet, 29, an avid sports fan, shared the clip and wrote in his Instagram Stories, “We gotta get Mad Dog a ticket to Paris or London or Rome premiere!!!!”

The next day Russo, who frequently appears on ESPN’s First Take, told cohost Stephen A. Smith that Chalamet had come through. “How about yesterday?” he said. “I go to Cablevision. You ready? I go to Cablevision and return a box. I get a phone call from [Jeff Saturday’s agent] Jill, your agent. She says, ‘Chris, you’re not gonna believe this.’ I says, ‘What’s that?’ ‘Mr. Chalamet called Searchlight, who called us and offered you two tickets to one of those premieres next week in Europe.”

Russo decided to take his daughter, Kiera, who will celebrate her birthday the day after the movie’s January 14 premiere in London, as his plus one. This decision prompted another outburst — this time from Chris’ son, Colin, who went off on his own rant about his dad on his show “Russo & Rizzo.”

Travis Kelce might be head over heels for girlfriend Taylor Swift, but that doesn’t mean he’s automatically willing to possibly walk down the wedding aisle during football season.

During the Wednesday, January 8, episode of his hit podcast “New Heights,” Travis, 35, and his brother Jason Kelce answered an inquiry about fall weddings as part of their “No Dumb Questions” segment.

“I actually don’t know people who’ve gotten married in the fall, because the all the weddings I’ve been to — my friends always do it in the summer,” the tight end said in response to a caller who revealed his girlfriend wants to get married in the fall despite his insistence that he is “gonna be at a football game.”

“You guys gotta be more in sync on things,” Travis added, voicing his concern for the caller’s relationship dynamic and willingness to find common ground. “You gotta be willing to, you know, find a weekend where the team isn’t playing anybody good.”

The Super Bowl champ went on to say that he’s “seen weddings in f–king February, I’ve seen weddings everywhere, but the fall… I’m not so sure if the fall is a good wedding season.”

Though Travis and Swift have been mum about their own relationship plans, others in their orbit have been only too happy to chime in on where they think the pair’s romance is headed.

In an interview with The Mirror published Friday, January 3, former NFL corner and pro-bowler Adam “Pacman” Jones said Travis and Swift “are going to get married” this year, “after football.”

Jones also took issue with the conspiracy theory that the pair are not in a “real” relationship. “I think they are in a real relationship,” he said. “I know Trav, because he went to UC. His love [is genuine]. When he says he is with somebody, he is with somebody.”

Of Travis’ most recent ex-girlfriend, Jones added that “he was with her and he found something better and he moved on.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Jones also praised the two for how their relationship has elevated Travis’ position on and off the field. “I love it,” he said. “I wish I was that smart when I was young. What I’m saying is you see how many marketing deals he is getting. You see how many jerseys he’s selling.”

Travis and Swift were first linked in September 2023, after the “Anti-Hero” singer was photographed at a Kansas City Chiefs game. In an interview for TIME’s Person of the Year, Swift, 35, opened up about her relationship for the first time.

This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she said at the time. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple.”

I use the term 'partner' when speaking about my boyfriend. I didn't expect it to be a controversial label.

  • After my divorce, I fell for a man quickly, and the word "boyfriend" didn't fit.
  • When we went to Europe, everyone was referring to their significant others as their "partner."
  • I decided to use that term, too, but people in the US often get confused.

I ended my nearly 13-year marriage in January 2020 without any interest in dating. But I met someone new in September, and we started seeing each other two months later.

Before things got serious, I wasn't sure how to describe our relationship. My ex-husband was also my first long-term relationship. We "dated" for three months, and I moved into his home three days after we met. We then quickly got married. In many ways, I had always been a wife who had a husband.

So, with my new situationship, I had no idea how to label it. While we were only in the early stages of seeing one another, I was already deeply committed. We even signed a lease together a few months later, in March. But I didn't know what to call the man in my life, who I considered the man in my life.

Ultimately, we decided to call each other "partners," but not everyone liked that term.

The word 'partner' felt right for us

When he suggested "partner," I liked how it felt. A partner is someone who walks through life side-by-side with you and who has your back in your highest and lowest moments. A partner is your rock. The word "partner" feels adult and right to me.

I stumbled over the word at times, especially early on, because up to that point, I had associated it with LGBTQ+ relationships and didn't want to appropriate a word that wasn't mine to use.

A trip to Europe late in the summer of 2021 changed everything. Nearly everyone described their other half (a phrase I don't like at all) as their partner — whether they were married or not, in straight or gay relationships.

The word was interchangeable with husband, wife, spouse, boyfriend, and girlfriend — especially among people in their 30s and older.

At that point, I enthusiastically adopted it. Since we spend half the year in France, it didn't seem odd to adopt the term, but alas, back in the US, that hasn't always been true.

Reactions to us using 'partner' have been mixed

I have found that older couples (typically ages 40 and up) in the US have had the strongest reactions to one of us introducing the other as a partner.

I can only assume this is because, for a long time, the term was primarily associated with LGBTQ+ couples who couldn't legally marry. Therefore, many people have to reconcile an older idea being applied to something they've understood in another way.

No one has ever been rude about it, but we've caught some raised eyebrows and a few "whats" or "whys" in response to the word choice. I've been asked, "Boyfriend or husband?" in response to using the word "partner," and huffed at when I repeated it instead of swapping the word for something more palatable.

But younger people seem like they couldn't care less.

My partner is my partner because, at this stage, he's my person. And that's just what works for us.
