It’s Official: Selena Gomez Is in Her Bridal Style Era

If there’s one thing about Selena Gomez, she loves a little black dress.

The Emilia Pérez actress made it her unofficial uniform while promoting the film in nearly every possible permutation of the style, from red carpet gowns to businesscore blazers to cozy knitwear and more. But now that Gomez, 32, is engaged to Benny Blanco — the couple announced the news via Instagram last month — she appears to be breaking up with the time-tested fashion formula in favor of a fresh new look befitting a bride-to-be: the little white dress.

When Gomez was set to appear on the Monday, January 6, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she arrived at the studio in Los Angeles wearing a Raisa Vanessa white mini dress with hand-beaded crystal and pearl embellishments. The bodice extended into a sculptural skirt that would look right at home on the dance floor at the Bachelorette party.

She paired her marquise diamond engagement ring — which Blanco, 36, helped custom design with jewelers Katherine Theofilos Claster and Stephanie Theofilos — with Le Soonar diamond drop earrings. Meanwhile, her Aquazzura bright white pumps could easily be worn down the aisle, particularly with the practical ankle strap.

Selena Gomez Is This Fall’s Queen of the Little Black Dress

But that wasn’t the only all-white look in her repertoire, as she had a second dress that would feel just as right at a bridal shower. By the time she sat down on Jimmy Kimmel’s couch for the interview, she’d changed into a Valentino frock with scalloped details and a Saint Laurent strong-shouldered blazer, which looked reminiscent of the tailoring that her fiancé wore when attending the Golden Globe Awards together on Sunday, January 5.

This time, Gomez had new arm candy: a Roger Vivier rattan bag with a blinged-out crystal buckle and jeweled handle. She kept the same Aquazzura heels, however, demonstrating that like a little black or white dress, some wardrobe staples can be worn again and again (and again).

The Meaning Behind Zendaya’s ‘Cool Bride’ Nontraditional Engagement Ring

7 January 2025 at 13:28

Zendaya and Tom Holland are the ultimate power couple, and the engagement ring that Holland, 28, gave his longtime girlfriend is a sparkling reminder that they really are relationship goals.

When Holland popped the question over the holidays, he proposed with a show-stopping rock rumored to be from London-based celebrity jeweler Jessica McCormack, who counts Madonna, Zoë Kravitz and Rosie Huntington-Whitely among her many A-list clients.

The cushion-cut diamond with a Georgian style setting in 18-karat white and yellow gold is one of McCormack’s signatures. It is (as one might expect of a diamond so large) price upon request – but experts have estimated that it carries a six-figure price tag. However, the meaning behind it is priceless.

East-west rings feature an oblong diamond with a horizontal, right-to-left arrangement instead of the traditional up-and-down setting. The design is said to represent a couple’s equal partnership and commitment. McCormack describes it as “a literal twist on a classic solitaire” and calls it “the perfect modern engagement ring… beloved by cool brides for its pared-back, non-traditional aesthetic.”

The ideal balance of trendiness and timelessness, an east-west ring is made for the woman who wants their jewelry to stand out. Zendaya, 28, certainly proved that point when she was spotted with the ring on that finger and all but shut down the red carpet at the Golden Globes, held Sunday, January 5.

The Euphoria star arrived solo, per usual, which Holland previously explained is an intentional move on his part to keep the spotlight firmly centered on his bride-to-be. “[It’s] not my moment, it’s her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us,” he said in a cover story for Men’s Health published on January 2.

After all, Zendaya gushed over Holland’s unmistakable “rizz” (AKA “charisma”) in a video interview with BuzzFeed back in February 2024. “I’m more shy and, like, kind of quiet, so it takes a little bit more to pull me out of my shell. But he’s great at just, like, talking to people and getting to know people…. He’s just naturally very good at that.”

Not only does Holland complement Zendaya perfectly and vice-versa, the east-west Jessica McCormack engagement ring he chose is an eye-catching reflection of a relationship between two equal partners who have mutual respect and adoration for one another. A rock-solid Hollywood couple, indeed.

5 January 2025 at 14:57

The 2025 Golden Globe Awards red carpet has been rolled out and stars have arrived in style.

Supermodel Ashley Graham was one of the first to turn up on the scene, and she stunned in a sweeping black silk moiré gown by Bach Mai with a plunging neckline cut down to there. Meanwhile, actress Zuri Hall had a bridal moment in an all-white column with architectural details.

Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness brought the drama in an off-the-shoulder draped gown in the most magical shade of emerald green. Wicked inspired, perhaps?

Even pint-size stars like Taylen Biggs came dressed to win, so to speak, as the YouTube personality was outfitted in a blazer and tie with playful white lacing down the sleeves, plus Hollywood-worthy black shades.

Emma! Kim! Bella! The 24 Best Street Style Moments of 2024

31 December 2024 at 11:18

Fashion’s most discerning stars can turn the sidewalk into their own personal runway.

Kim Kardashian, Bella Hadid and Rihanna are boldface names that instantly spring to mind. But in 2024, these and more It girls (and guys!) continuously kept Us on our toes with traffic-stopping street style that provided no shortage of sartorial inspiration along the way.

In August, Kardashian, 44, stepped out in her signature uniform — a stretchy beige bodycon dress and Balenciaga pantaloons with pointy toe pumps — but added a surprisingly playful twist with a furry yellow purse from the very cool brand behind daughter North West’s Lion King costume.

Billed as “ethically sourced and handcrafted in California from the “softest sheepskin hides,” ERL’s messenger bag recalled the bespoke costume North wore to perform at Disney’s The Lion King live-to-film concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in May. (North played a Young Simba and sang “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” in a custom furry zip-up hoodie, matching shorts, socks and furry slippers.)

Led by creative director Eli Russell Linnetz, who previously teamed up with Lady Gaga and Kardashian’s ex-husband, Kanye West, the Venice-based brand shot campaigns for Yeezy and Skims. Look for their name in lights, or rather stitched onto labels, as this is far from their last collab.

Meanwhile, Hadid, 28, single handedly invented the cowgirl aesthetic this year while cozying up to her cowboy beau Adan Banuelos on rodeo date nights and on the front row at Fashion Week. Sightings of the supermodel in leather chaps and cowboy boots slowly gave way to subtle nods to Western style. The latest example came on December 13 when the supermodel was spotted in a 2002 archival Roberto Cavalli Canadian tuxedo, consisting of a contoured, corseted jacket and an eyelet studded pencil skirt.

Rihanna, 36, gave us a lesson in more-is-more fashion on a Mother’s Day date night with a slogan-heavy Comme des Garçons graphic number and a Gucci horsebit clutch on her arm (along with partner A$AP Rocky, of course). In a skirt with a slit cut up to there, the Savage Fenty founder tied it all together with red tulle gloves that looked lifted from her lingerie line.

For these and more of the most head-turning street style looks of the year, keep scrolling.

The Top 10 Viral Red Carpet Fashion Moments of 2024

30 December 2024 at 14:36

The red carpet standouts of 2024 exuded personal style while dressing the part.

The best-dressed celebrities didn’t just dress up. They delivered carefully curated looks that combined capital-F fashion with pure fun — from custom creations to archival gems to thematic ensembles tied to blockbuster films.

Stars and their stylists increasingly used the carpet for storytelling and crafting sartorial narratives that sparked conversations beyond, “Who are you wearing?”

Red carpet-centric chatter reached an all-time high, thanks in no small part to the release of Wicked. The cast embarked on a worldwide press tour that saw the film’s leading ladies, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, embracing the magic of method dressing at every stop, from New York to London to Australia.

To build the Wicked fashion fantasy (and fanbase), designers — including Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood and Thom Browne — created looks that captured the essence of Grande and Evivo’s on-screen characters, Glinda and Elphaba.

Archival looks with meaning behind them was another way celebrities made headlines. Case in point: Sydney Sweeney, who hit the Oscars afterparties in the legendary Marc Bouwer gown Angelina Jolie wore to the Academy Awards in 2004.

The homage took social media by storm. Bouwer, 65, celebrated the 20-year anniversary via Instagram, sharing images of Sweeney, 27, next to a photo of Jolie, 49. Sweeney responded with a shoutout underscoring the rare archival dress’s allure: “Thank you @marcbouwer for pulling this iconic dress out of the vault for me. It was an honor to wear a piece of history.”

To that end we rounded up 10 looks from last year that will go down in red carpet history.

©

©

Sweeney made headlines at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party in March when she revived Angelina Jolie’s iconic gown from the 2004 Academy Awards. The archival Marc Bouwer design was inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s Seven-Year Itch dress (yes, the one with subway grate). Sweeney breathed new life into the look with Messika jewels.

©

Zendaya, who has described fashion as “armor,” literally wore armor on the Dune: Part Two red carpet in a vintage Mugler robot suit circa 1995. “I’m a very shy person,” Zendaya said in a March interview with Essence. “I use clothes to create these characters and create this personality that I get to embody when I step on a red carpet and be this woman for the night.”

©

The Euphoria star is known for her experimental, boundary-pushing style, but she blew Us away when she stepped on the red carpet at the Golden Globes. Her windswept custom Prada dress benefited from the breeze, as the silk gazar column featured yards of fabric that seemed to float around her body. The ballet slipper hue made the dramatic visual even dreamier.

©

At the Met Gala, photos of a celebrity’s appearance go around the world in a matter of seconds, which makes entrance-making looks particularly compelling. Consider Tyla, who was carried up the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art to the 2024 Met Gala in a Balmain gown that was too fragile to walk in. The hourglass dress was made from a mixture of sand and micro crystal studs, and it was sculpted to fit the singer using a plaster cast of her bodice. Tyla doubled down on the virality of the moment with an hourglass sand timer as a purse.

©

On the first Monday in May, Hadid nailed the Met Gala’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme in a custom Thom Browne corset dress. Covered in 3D yellow roses, it took more than 70 people over 13,500 hours to create the look. “This, as someone in the fashion industry, is like my favorite night of the year,” the supermodel said in an interview with Vogue at the time. “It’s like our prom. It’s where we get to have the most fun and go a little bit crazy.” A serious work of art, the dress now lives in the designer’s permanent archive.

©

Taylor Russell gave new meaning to “here comes the bride” when she opened the Venice Film Festival in a scene-stealing archival wedding dress that supermodel Claudia Schiffer wore on the 1993 Chanel Couture runway. The Bones and All star glowed in the cloudlike design, which featured a Chanel-ified clear plastic bodice with crystal embellishments and corset boning, puffy lace bubble skirt overlay and a train that made a statement coming and going.

©

After the actor’s appearances at the Venice Film Festival in August, clever fans pointed out that you can’t spell Cate without “ate” — a way of implying that she devoured the red carpet. Her wardrobe was in direct proportion to the glamour and decadence of the Italian setting, like this scoop-back Armani Privé velvet jumpsuit with ropes of pearls.

©

At the CFDA Fashion Awards, the beauty mogul looked like a work of art in an avant-garde Jean-Paul Gaultier dress with spiky, feather-like fringe plucked right off the Spring 2023 Couture runway. She committed to designer Haider Ackerman’s styling with T-bar pumps and a slicked-back coif that mimicked the model’s glam. The day of the awards, Jenner posted a #GRWM TikTok video, revealing that she’d been waiting for the perfect occasion. “We’ve been saving this look for almost two years. She’s finally gonna fly today.”

©

The most successful themed looks marry the brand with the essence of the character without looking like a costume. And no one knows that better than the stars of Wicked, who consistently made red carpet magic while method dressing throughout their global press tour. For the London stop, Grande and Erivo wore spellbinding custom gowns inspired by the yellow brick road and the Wicked Witch's pointy black hat, respectively.

©

A makeup-free Anderson dominated the red carpet in minimal and elegant looks that included this custom Oscar de la Renta primrose silk faille dress and tonal shawl, as seen at the Zurich Film Festival in October. The Last Showgirl actress explained she felt sexier unadorned than she did as a sex object. “If you can accept this [gesturing to her bare face] then all the rest is just playtime,” she said in a February interview with Allure. “If you’re living authentically, you don’t have to explain yourself.”

Holly Madison Plays Fashion Police With Herself, Reveals Style ‘Regrets’

30 December 2024 at 08:47

When Holly Madison considers her past fashion choices, she only has one regret: layers.

In the 2000s, the Playboy Mansion denizen turned reality star wore her fair share of revealing outfits, but Madison, 45, considers her most covered-up looks to be by far the most cringe.

“[There] was that trend … where you would layer a million things that have no business being layered,” she told Us Weekly. In the exclusive video, she played Fashion Police — with herself — and admitted that she’s guilty of rocking Y2K-era dresses over shirts over “low-rise crazy” jeans.

“Usually, I look back on my stuff and I’m like, ‘I like it,’” Madison said. “Even if it’s camp or silly, I know what I was going for.”

Holly Madison Fashion Police Feature

Case in point: the Juicy Couture strapless babydoll dress with ruffles that she loved so much she bought it in three colors (pink, yellow and black). “I wore it recently for the podcast, because sometimes I like to bring out throwback outfits,” she noted.

‘Girls Next Door’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

The “Girls Next Level” podcast host has a history of reviving iconic fashion looks. A sparkly standout is the flesh-colored naked dress inspired by a vintage Bob Mackie gown that she bedazzled herself for Hugh Hefner‘s 80th birthday party in 2006. “I just went to Hollywood Boulevard where they have all the stripper stores and got this see-through dress, and then I put a crystal bunny on it,” Madison explained.

Holly Madison Fashion Police feature
Bridget Marquardt, Hugh Hefner, Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson at Hefner’s 80th birthday bash in London in 2006.

She even hit the red carpet in the DIY dress, which was a shorter version of the bespoke look that Mackie, 84, custom designed for then–Playmate of the Year Monique St. Pierre to wear on the June 1979 cover of Playboy magazine.

Decades later, Hefner bought the original as a gift for Madison, who at the time was one of the late publisher’s three live-in girlfriends, along with Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson, as immortalized on the E! reality TV show The Girls Next Door.

“I still have it!” Madison gushed. “I love fashion history, [and] I love the history of the Playboy pictorials.” She added: “My dream is to build a house with a perfect closet where I can display a lot of things and have a mannequin, like a little museum of my favorite stuff.”

Paris Hilton Stuns in Nothing But a Red Bow: ‘My Presence Is a Present’

26 December 2024 at 07:42

Paris Hilton Dresses Up in Red Bow

Paris Hilton certainly made a statement this Christmas, transforming herself into a human present by posing wrapped in a large bow.

Hilton, 43, celebrated the holiday season with a sexy video posted via her Instagram account on Wednesday, December 25, that caused fans to do a double take.

The shot featured the socialite wrapped in a large red bow, complemented by red fingerless elbow-length gloves, pointed-toe pumps and pearl-and-diamond drop earrings. The final accessory? Her 20-carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring with baguette diamonds on either side.

The clip was set to Ariana Grande’s Christmas anthem “Santa Tell Me (Dirty Version)” with the lyrics, “Oh, I wanna let him unwrap me, like, oh-ooh-oh / Get on top of him, by that fireplace, oh-ooh-oh.” She captioned the post, “My presence is a present.”

That’s Hot: Paris Hilton Gives New Meaning to the LDB

Her signature blonde hair was styled in glamorous Old Hollywood waves. Additional photos showcased Hilton in lacy red lingerie paired with matching thigh-high fishnet stockings and Santa-worthy suspenders. Her caption read: “All wrapped up and ready to sliv this holiday season.”

The joke was on Us, as many tastemakers and media outlets have recently declared the bow as the go-to holiday detail of choice, albeit usually atop a Christmas tree.

“The bow-topped tree trend stems from the aforementioned girlhood aesthetic, but it also aligns with the cottagecore and coquette-ified interiors that dominated our social media feeds during the pandemic,” wrote Architectural Digest. “But more importantly? It’s about personal style.”

The trend started to take shape in 2023, with Vogue reporting that, “bows — pinned into hair and dangling from clothes and hanging from candlesticks and stuffed into pillows and stuck onto unconsenting dogs and tied around everything from champagne coupes to antidepressants — were everywhere.”

Hilton’s tree, however, was dressed in a pink color scheme with various Christmas ornaments in shades of magenta, fuchsia, Barbie pink and more. On top was a single sparkling silver star, though no amount of decor could steal the spotlight from Hilton as a scantily clad present.

The Best Celebrity Couples Style Moments of 2024

25 December 2024 at 06:00

The only thing we love more than celebrity style is celebrity couples style, and 2024 had no shortage of his-and-hers sartorial wins.

Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler exemplify how coordinated style can solidify a couple’s public image. Though they lack a viral couple name like “Posh and Becks” or “Kravis,” their matching outfits clearly mark them as a prominent celebrity pairing. What better way to express commitment than through matching attire, as seen in their coordinated date night LBD and suit, respectively?

They’re not alone in this trend. Zendaya and Tom Holland, Hailey and Justin Bieber, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas all embody the sentiment on a near-daily basis. Even fashion icons Rihanna and A$AP Rocky‘s impeccably coordinated style, frequently cited as a gold standard, has only become more striking in 2024.

Below, we rounded up our favorite celebrity couple looks of 2024.

Gwyneth Paltrow Touts Blake Brown Haircare in Support of Blake Lively

Gwyneth Paltrow Touts Blake Lively Haircare Line
Gwyneth Paltrow and Blake Lively

Gwyneth Paltrow is coming to the support of Blake Lively and her haircare line, Blake Brown.

Following Lively’s sexual harassment allegations against her It Ends With Us costar and director Justin Baldoni, she received public support from figures including Paltrow, 52. Lively’s accusations against Baldoni include unwanted kissing during filming and a campaign to damage her reputation. Baldoni has vehemently denied these claims, calling them “completely false, outrageous and intentionally salacious.”

Paltrow publicly showed her support for Lively, 37, on the day the complaint was released. In an Instagram Story, she featured Lively’s Blake Brown haircare line on her Christmas wish list, adding a queen emoji to her post.

According to the legal documents obtained by Us Weekly, the effects of Baldoni’s tear down campaign against Lively’s professional life were “immediate and substantial.” This includes Blake Brown, which launched around the same time as It Ends With Us’ theatrical release this summer.

How Blake Lively Referenced Her and Ryan Reynolds' Kids in Baldoni Lawsuit

As a result of negative chatter on social media, Lively claimed she felt she could not “proceed with public appearances or events without being forced to openly discuss what happened on set.”

One such incident allegedly included cancelling a “critical” Target corporate event for said haircare company, which she backed out of her scheduled appearance for.

The lawsuit also alleges that the retaliation campaign against Lively resulted in damage to her companies as well, like the launch of Blake Brown, which Lively had spent seven years building up to.

“The long-planned launch of her haircare line, Blake Brown — a date which was set more than a year prior to the date selected,” the documents read, “for the release of the film — was caught up in the crossfires of the negative environment against [Lively].”

Celebs Who Have Spoken Out About Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni Lawsuit

Prior to when the “social manipulation” campaign was underway, the Gossip Girl actress was informed that Blake Brown was Target’s largest haircare launch on record. And based on internal sales projects the “sudden and unexpected negative media campaign launched” negatively affected retail sales of products by a whopping “56%–78%.”

What’s more, the Instagram account for the brand was allegedly flooded by “harassing and derogatory comments, including many posted by user accounts that had no followers and no prior posts,” which suggested an inauthenticity, according to court papers.

7 Times Celebs Clapped Back At Aging Comments

23 December 2024 at 10:51

Last week, Jennifer Lopez made headlines with her response to an interviewer who brought up her age.

“Listen, I can’t believe it’s been 30 years since Selena. I can’t believe that 30 years we do the retrospective of this and you will be 60 by then,” Variety’s Senior Awards Editor, Clayton Davis, said on Sunday, December 15, in a video obtained by TMZ.

Lopez, 55, interjected to add, “Wow,” as Davis continued to comment on her age, “which is getting up there” according to the reporter. Lopez nodded at the remark, replying, “I am.”
The comment elicited laughter — as well as some confusion — from the audience, with one person asking, “Did he really just say that?”

Davis continued the conversation by applauding Lopez for “one of your best performances” yet in Unstoppable, which was released in September.

“It’s funny you think that I’m getting up there,” Lopez began, while Davis spoke up to clarify that his comment was a “joke.” Lopez appeared unfazed by the remark, and instead chose to praise the audience.

“It’s because I want to say thank you, you guys. Because we’ve been doing this a long time together. Been doing it a long time and you guys have been here with me,” Lopez said. “Today, I was singing some new songs and I went back and sang ‘If You Had My Love,’ which is my first song, 1999. It’s that thing, of like, what a journey this has been.”

“I honestly feel that the best is yet to come,” she continued. “I honestly feel that my creativity and who I am as an artist — like you said, I also feel that this for me, was another kind of level for me of going deeper into who I am as a person, as an artist.”

And Lopez is far from the first woman in Hollywood to feel and prove that age is indeed just a number. For more moments where celebrities have rightfully clapped back at comments in response to comments about their age, keep scrolling:

At age 37, Gyllenhaal was told that she was “too old” to be cast as a 55 year-old man’s love interest for a project that she politely would not identify by name. “It made me feel bad and then it made me feel angry and then it made me laugh,” she later said to ABC in 2015.

At a 2015 appearance in New York City, Mirren was asked for her opinion about Gyllenhaal’s aforementioned revelation. She didn’t mince words: "It's f-ing outrageous; it's ridiculous,” Mirren said, which elicited applause from the approving audience.

©

Johnson clapped back at Hollywood for sidelining great talents, like her mother, Melanie Griffith, and grandmother Tippi Hedren, seemingly due to their mature age. She also called showbiz "f-ing brutal” and called out the “absurd” and “cutthroat” ways it treats its stars.
She went on to explain that even the toughest skin can't always protect an actor from the anxiety of never knowing when the calls will stop and the roles will dry out. “I've been so lucky to be surrounded by people who have encouraged me to go deeper into myself. I want to just be a good person and be as embracing of others as I can,” Dakota said while appearing on Ellen. She continued: “[My mom’s] always been really honest and firm about standing up for yourself."

When the Sex and the City spin off And Just Like That… was announced, some fans didn't get the memo that the show would take place 20 years after the original series aired. “It almost feels as if people don't want us to be perfectly OK with where we are," Sarah Jessica Parker said. “There's so much misogynist chatter in response to us that would never happen about a man.”

©

Speaking to Du Jour in 2021, the actress called out Hollywood for turning its back on women over 40. "You can play all different ages for quite a long time and I think that's why a lot of women don't want to reveal their age as an actress because suddenly you can be boxed in." She also shared that while no one had explicitly told her she's too old to play certain roles, she did notice a shift in her career upon turning 40, including more rejections.
At the 2018 SAG Awards, Kidman applauded women in Hollywood for their work and efforts made to show that they're still potent and powerful and viable. "We have proven that we can do this [and] we can continue to do this but only with support of this industry and that passion,” she said, and her comments were met with roaring applause from the audience.

While promoting her 2017 film John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Berry admitted she was bewildered by the great interest in her age. "We're not defined by that number that gets tagged to us at birth,” she said. “That doesn't define us at all. We shouldn't let it define us.” She also added that this partly piqued her interest in the role of former assassin Sofia Al-Azawar. “It gave me a chance to show something different and to, sort of, kick ageism in the face,” Berry said.

“Why should I have to play a grandmother simply because I’m old? Can I be a lawyer? A scientist? So far, the answer is … not so much,” Moreno told Variety in 2021, three months before her 90th birthday. “Hollywood suffers in a profound way from ageism.” However, when the EGOT winner was approached to play Lydia, the abuelita in the One Day at a Time remake in 2017, she only agreed to take the role if her character was also a sexual being, explaining that just because she no longer has the ability to conceive doesn’t mean that she’s no longer a woman with feelings of desire. “I said, ‘I know she's an older woman, I know she's a grandma, but she has to be sexual,” Moreno recalled.

Very Demure: How 2024’s Viral TikTok Trend Defined Celebrity Style

19 December 2024 at 12:57

The Most Demure Celebrity Style Moments of 2024 331

Brat summer may be dead but the very demure, very mindful aesthetic is alive and well.

The movement was underscored when Dictionary.com named “demure” the word of the year, announced on November 25, beating out candidates including “brat” and “brainrot.”

It captured the attention not only of content creators but also celebrities with Jennifer Lopez, Khloé Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan (to name a few) referencing the term online, as well as political figures like Kamala Harris championing “very demure” Chloé looks at the Democratic National Convention in November.

Designers clearly got the memo, as many labels from Chanel to Gucci to Thom Browne, sent out looks on the Spring 2025 runways that captured the internet’s obsession with the word demure.

The concept of demure is associated with other qualities, such as “respectful,” “mindful” and “cutesy.” Of course, the TikTok video that started the craze got more specific, with TikTok creator Jools Lebron offering unironic tips about managing makeup, mustache sweat and how to be demure at the workplace, accentuating the contrast between appearance and reality.

“You see how I do my makeup for work? Very demure. Very mindful,” she said in the clip. “I don’t come to work with a green cut crease. I don’t look like a clown when I go to work. I don’t do too much. I’m very mindful while I’m at work.”

It came as an antidote to the brat mindset, with its lime-green clothing and hard-partying attitude. It also served as a refreshing change of pace after years of the naked dress trend.

Just ask some of the most stylish celebrities of the season, who have collectively been embracing the viral TikTok trend in droves while showing no sign of slowing down.

So how do you dress in a demure way? From Kate Middleton to Kendall Jenner, allows these stars to show you how it’s done with 10 of the very best demure and mindful looks of 2024.

The supermodel stepped out in Paris wearing a modest little black dress by The Row, but it was her kitten mules that stole the show, in the most demure fashion of course.

More formal and perhaps less practical than other outerwear, the demure caplet still provides the perfect finishing touch to a tweed skirt, as seen on Swinton in Chanel Haute Couture.

©

Yes, even divas can be demure, as Lopez demonstrated in a teddy bear brown Gucci shorts-and–sweater set.

©

Outsize bows have replaced over-the-top cleavage on the red carpet — just ask Brunson who wore a Carolina Herrera dress with a frilly bow at the center.

The Goop founder proved that head-to-toe statement prints can feel soft and sophisticated in a Thom Browne skirt suit and collared shirt that blossomed with florals.

The Wicked actress nailed the “cutesy” vibe in a custom Thom Browne gingham frock, but it was her ladylike gloves that took the moment to refined new heights.

Protecting your complexion from the sun? Totally demure. Taylor Russell did just that when she paired an Alaïa crop top and bubble skirt with a red umbrella at the Venice Film Festival.

©

Edebiri’s Bottega Veneta Bermuda shorts, a style that hits lower on the leg and therefore shows less skin, was all the more demure when paired with a matching jacket to create a spring-weather suit.

If anyone understands the meaning of demure, it’s French girls. Emily in Paris actress Leroy-Beaulieu — a.k.a. Sylvie — proved this point in a shrunken brown Rochas suit with a metallic finish.

Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has long been the poster girl for ladylike fashion, as demonstrated by her well-known penchant for pussy-bow necklines, as seen on a Whistles polka-dot dress that peeked out from underneath a double-breasted Alexander McQueen coat.

Taylor Swift Made the Whole Place Shimmer in $36K Jewels at ‘Eras’ Bash

19 December 2024 at 10:28

Taylor Swift wasn’t kidding when she said she could “make the whole place shimmer.”

The “Bejeweled” singer was recently the guest of honor at an Eras Tour-themed party (which her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, reportedly planned), where attendees wore Swiftie-inspired looks, as seen in photos that Ashley Avignone shared on Thursday, December 19, via Instagram.

Some fans have suggested that the beads spelled out “Kelce,” a sartorial easter egg that may hint at Swift’s rumored husband-to-be. One thing is for certain: The entire ensemble was a masterclass in dressing with intention, thanks to subtle details that pointed to multiple past eras.

Brittany and Patrick Mahomes Dress Up as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

The halter-style straps and the bustier sweetheart neckline can be found in Swift’s Tortured Poets Society costume designs. The fit-and-flare A-line skirt was woven with 1989 and Speak Now undertones, while the black color palette recalled her edgy Reputation aesthetic. Meanwhile, Lover came through in the sparkle and shine, an era that was covered in sequins.

Swift’s earrings were from De Beers’ Arpeggia collection — a tribute to Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” — which as Taylor Swift purists can tell you, is said to be the inspiration for her 2023 album, Midnights. The falling of the diamonds is meant to mimic the notes on a musical score.

Making her jewelry feel even more significant is the fact that she wore the same pair to the 2024 Golden Globes where her concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, lost out to Barbie. After all, you best believe she doesn’t need (another) golden statuette to make a winning style statement.

She tied it all together with — what else? — black velvet heels by Christian Louboutin, the designer who created all of her Eras Tour shoes. Here’s hoping they were customized with the same slip-proof soles as her stage footwear, because Swift and Kelce danced the night away.

Sydney Sweeney is continuing to clap back at internet trolls in the best way possible.

Sweeney, 27, posed topless on a rooftop in New York City on Wednesday, December 18, as seen in a series of photos that she posted via Instagram.

The move comes mere days after the Euphoria actor faced unfair body backlash on social media with users making comments about her appearance in recent paparazzi photos taken, without her knowledge, while sunbathing in the Florida Keys.

Sweeney was photographed looking lovely in a lilac bikini, which incited the flurry of unnecessary critical feedback from trolls, but she didn’t take the digs lying down and instead swiftly shot back by posting them to her own Instagram.

Sydney Sweeney Claps Back at Body-Shaming Critics: 'Christy Martin Strong'

She shared a video with a montage of comments on Friday, December 13, that culminated in video footage of herself training for her new movie, an untitled biopic about female boxer Christy Martin.

It seems Sweeney is continuing to get the ultimate revenge with her latest snap while looking better, and more stylish, than ever. She captioned the post “rain, rain go away” but her fashion game was a slay, donning a cozy striped grandpa cardigan, which she left open to reveal her toned midriff and world-famous curves, slouchy boyfriend jeans and all-white sneakers.

In one snap, she clutched a Miu Miu Aventure brown suede bag that was festooned with charms, adding a touch of personality to the luxe accessory. The style, recovered from the Miu Miu archives, is a reinterpreted lightweight design with plenty of effortlessly cool attitude.

Meanwhile, Sweeney has been stepping out with her fiancé Jonathan Davino looking happier than ever and perfectly in sync from a couple’s style perspective, like on Sunday, December 15, when they headed out to dinner in his-and-hers chocolate brown leather looks.

Clearly, she’s living her best life and dressing the part.

Kim Kardashian Sets a New ‘Trend’ With High Heel-Shaped Cast

Feature Kim Kardashian Sets a New Trend With High Heel Shaped Cast 02

Kim Kardashian is keeping up with her shoe game — despite having a broken foot.

The Skims founder took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday, December 17, to share a photo of a high heel-shaped cast, replete with a perfectly polished bright red pedicure, but of course.

Many called the move “innovative” and gave her props for being committed to the serve.

“When you break your [foot] but still wanna go out,” one user quipped. Others predicted that the cast would become a new trend. “Always ahead of your time in the fashion world,” wrote a fan, while another added: “This will be the new trend.”

Some even wondered whether that the cast was a new design from Kardashian’s collaboration with Balenciaga or perhaps a potential hint at her next Skims collection.

Kardashian, 44, first shared the news of her broken foot on Friday, December 6, when she posted an image of her foot in a boot cast and crutches while Fergie’s song “Clumsy” played in the background.

“FML,” she wrote alongside the Instagram photo with a swearing emoji. “Broken foot for the holidays.”

Less than a week later, Kardashian hopped on a plane from Los Angeles to New York City to attend the star-studded opening of her Skims flagship store on Fifth Avenue.

She pulled up at the Skims store in Midtown, New York City, on Thursday, December 12, in an all-cream custom Chrome Hearts ensemble with a plunging neckline and skintight trousers. Despite her ailment, she wore translucent heels (on both feet) and wheeled in on a black knee scooter. A matching mini-bag hung from the handlebars.

Fans praised her for powering through her injury, in heels no less. After all, no one knows better than Kardashian that sometimes you have to get off your ass and work — or scoot.

Elle Fanning Just Took a Page from Hailey Bieber’s Fashion Playbook

Elle Fanning is suiting up like Hailey Bieber.

When the actress attended a photocall for A Complete Unknown, in London on Monday, December 16, she hit an androgynous note in the same Saint Laurent suit that Bieber, 28, memorably wore in October during a date-night-slash-work-party with her husband, Justin Bieber.

Fanning, for her part, stars alongside Timothée Chalamet in the new James Mangold-directed film about Bob Dylan. She plays Sylvie Russo, Dylan’s (Chalamet) one-time girlfriend, who is loosely based on Dylan’s real-life ex-girlfriend, the late Suze Rotolo.

When Rotolo wasn’t working as a jewelry maker and artist, she was the muse behind many of the musician’s greatest songs, including “Boots of Spanish Leather.” She also famously graced the cover of his groundbreaking second album, The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.

Hailey Bieber’s Latest Look Mixes Business With Pleasure

Fanning made a similarly striking statement when photographed, not on Jones Street in Manhattan’s West Village, like Russo did for Dylan’s album cover art, but rather on the red carpet at The Curzon Mayfair, the iconic arthouse cinema located in London’s West End.

Her natty brown suit was a slight departure from the style originally seen on the Bieber, who wore a near-identical version in light gray. They both layered their oversize tailoring with a classic menswear-inspired oxford shirt and a patterned tie that was cut wide for a retro slant.

While Bieber’s trousers ran intentionally long for maximum swagger, Fanning kept the proportions in check by cinching hers with a black crocodile leather belt. They each grounded the wide-leg silhouette with knife-sharp pointed-toe pumps that peeked out ever so slightly.

Fanning added a decidedly gamine touch to her look with a single bobby pin in her hair to keep her retro big-barrel blonde curls in place. The move felt fitting for the leading lady, as did Bieber’s distinctive approach, which saw her with one of her signature oversize Emi Jay hair clips.

Chalamet, 28, has also been serving up head-turning beauty statements while promoting the film, most notably when he traded his trademark brown ringlets for a flat-ironed sandy blonde wig and a Old Navy beanie. The transformation, albeit temporary, was a pitch-perfect tribute to Dylan, now 83, who rocked the same look at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, right down to the knit hat.

As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Lady Gaga Flashes Her $500K Engagement Ring in ‘Carpool Karaoke’

17 December 2024 at 08:22

Lady Gaga Engagement Ring on Carpool Karaoke

Lady Gaga’s engagement ring could stop traffic.

The Grammy winner, 38, gave Us a good look at her honking piece of jewelry while appearing in a trailer for the Apple TV+ and Apple Music’s Christmas special of A Carpool Karaoke Christmas, released on Sunday, December 15. In fact, we almost forgot just how spectacular her sparkler really is.

For others who may need a reminder, look no further than the new episode, as Gaga, who is engaged to tech investor Michael Polansky, can be seen driving around with host Zane Lowe while giving the camera a closeup of the large oval diamond solitaire ring on a pavé band.

Gaga and Polansky, 46, first sparked engagement rumors last April after she was spotted wearing said diamond while out in West Hollywood. She also wore a long black coat, but the sleeves failed to hide her bling, which isn’t hard to imagine considering the gargantuan size. The 8-carat ring has an estimated worth of $500,000 or more.

Gaga confirmed her engagement in July at the Paris Olympics when she introduced Polansky as “my fiancé” to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky's Relationship Timeline

Fast-forward to September, the singer sent cameras flashing when she was joined by her fiancé at the Venice Film Festival. The couple arrived by water taxi with Gaga flashing a beaming smile as well as her giant bling for all to see.

During the film festival, they attended the premiere of Gaga’s film Joker: Folie à Deux and all but shut down the red carpet, thanks in no small part to the near-blinding bijoux on her left hand, which Polansky lovingly held as they posed for photographers.

The singer shed light on how Polansky asked her to marry him while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in October. After an afternoon spent rock climbing, he popped the question. “He wanted to know if it was OK to propose before he proposed and I was like, ‘Yes! It’s so OK!’” Gaga said. “It was very Michael to ask me if he could ask me,” she added.

She also offered insights into their dream wedding. “We actually talk about going to the courthouse just the two of us and ordering Chinese food,” Gaga said. “[But] knowing me, also, it could become like a circus with unicorns.”

After all, a ring like that deserves a parade.

Justin Timberlake's Concert Wardrobe Malfunction Is Going Viral

16 December 2024 at 14:08

Justin Timberlake Wardrobe Malfunction
Justin Timberlake just gave new meaning to his 2006 song, “What Goes Around…Comes Around.”

The Grammy-winning singer, who’s currently on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, was performing at Bridgestone Arena on Thursday, December 12, in Nashville, Tennessee, when he suffered a wardrobe malfunction involving a tightly fitted harness that’s going viral.

A TikTok video filmed by a concert-goer showed Timberlake, 43, trying to adjust himself in the harness, which caused a stir among fans as it unintentionally highlighted his groin.

In the clip, Timberlake could be seen tugging at the bottom of his shirt in an attempt to cover the area. The harness is used for his performance of “Mirrors,” during which he serenades the crowd from a suspended platform.

'NSync's Reunions Through the Years

The comments section of the video included several quips comparing Timberlake’s faux pas to a similar mishap that Chris Brown experienced during his 1:11 Tour in Canada this past summer. At the time, The Daily Mail reported on an accident that highlighted Brown’s “manhood” while The Hollywood Reporter shared a video of the singer stuck in the air mid-concert.

Of course, it also called to mind the infamous 2004 incident when Timberlake had a hand in Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction after he tore off part of her clothing covering her breast at the end of the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show.

Timberlake initially said, “Hey man, we love giving you all something to talk about.” However, his tone shifted as the situation became more fraught, prompting both him as well as MTV to release statements acknowledging the incident.

In his statement, Timberlake said: “I am sorry if anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance at the Super Bowl. It was not intentional and is regrettable.”

Justin Timberlake Apologizes After Postponing His Show Due to Injury

Meanwhile, MTV said, “The tearing of Janet Jackson’s costume was unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional and was inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance. MTV regrets this incident occurred and we apologize to anyone who was offended by it.”

The next week, Timberlake apologized at the Grammy Awards ceremony, saying Jackson’s nipple was accidentally exposed and was meant to be covered by a bright red brassiere.

Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino Do Date Night in His-and-Hers Leather

If their outfits are anything to judge by, Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino are perfectly in sync.

The couple, who have been engaged since 2022, stepped out for dinner at Crane Club, a steakhouse in New York City, on Sunday, December 15, in his-and-hers leather looks that were right in line with this season’s love affair with chocolate brown as well as the similarly delicious 2025 Pantone color of the year: “mocha mousse.

Sweeney, 27, wore wide-leg leather pants that were perfectly matched to her fiancé’s leather blazer. She fended off the frigid temps in a wool jacquard sweater from Gucci, which featured a fair-isle motif dotted with sparkling crystal embellishments.

The Euphoria actor grounded the look with Amina Muaddi heeled ankle boots in bright white. Angular tortoise shell Gucci sunglasses shielded her from paparazzi outside the restaurant.

Sydney Sweeney and Fiance Jonathan Davino’s Relationship Timeline

Her film producer beau looked chivalrous holding an umbrella over Sweeney in the rain while dressed in Brunello Cucinelli brown leather tailoring. Like her, he teamed it with cozy knitwear, sporting a gray V-neck cardigan that he left unbuttoned with a simple white T-shirt underneath.

Davino, 41, also embraced winter white, as seen in a pair of casual crisp white trousers and similarly pristine white sneakers — a daring styling choice considering the inclement weather conditions. He completed the look with black aviator sunglasses that mirrored Sweeney’s.

Even after dark, their choice of eyewear wasn’t as surprising considering the pair have just returned from a vacation spent soaking up the sun in the Florida Keys.

After Sweeney was photographed looking lovely in a lilac bikini, she incited a flurry of critical comments about her appearance and swiftly shut them down by posting them to her Instagram.

In a Friday, December 13, social media video, Sweeney made a montage of the criticism followed by clips of herself hitting the gym. She was training for her new movie, an untitled biopic about female boxer Christy Martin.

Dive Into Glamour With the Daphne Groeneveld x Oceanus Resort Collection

16 December 2024 at 12:10

Luxury resort label Oceanus has tapped It Girl and Dutch model Daphne Groeneveld for a glamorous new resort collection of swimwear, matching sets, jewelry and more just in time for winter getaways on the horizon.

Groeneveld, 29, who has appeared in campaigns for the likes of Tom Ford, Miu Miu and Jean Paul Gaultier, applied first-hand expertise gleaned from her days spent in front of the camera to create the splashy new offering, which has pieces ranging from $300 to $1,200.

“Modeling has given me the chance to work with incredible fashion houses, where I’ve learned so much about shapes and design,” Groeneveld told Us. “That experience really shaped how I approached this collection.”

Drawing inspiration from Greek mythology and the story of Daphne, the mythological nymph who turned into a tree at the touch of Apollo, Groeneveld and Oceanus dreamt up pieces that celebrate the harmony of natural elements and mythical beauty. The end result is an irresistibly sparkly, sequined and embellished collection imbued with meaning and purpose.

There are laurel tree motifs and floral prints that nod to the Daphne Odora flower as well as flowing silhouettes that mimic the deep blue sea. In addition to glitter-flecked swimwear, there is playful, evening-focused resortwear. The high-shine party dresses and rhinestone-dotted separates, in particular, are dazzling options for a tropical night out in a far-flung locale.

“I focused on creating unique silhouettes inspired by classic designs while staying true to Oceanus’s style,” Groeneveld said. “This collection truly reflects my summer style, featuring vibrant colors, pearls and the two-piece sets that I adore.”

As for Groeneveld’s personal favorites, she shared: “I’m especially obsessed with the beach cover-up, as I always wear it when I’m on holiday. It’s easy to wear yet looks very elevated. The two-piece sets are so fun for festive occasions, and the halter-neck dress is the most unique piece, featuring perfect pearls on the back and a stunning beaded pattern.”

Bella Hadid just nailed the art of high-low dressing in a look that was all about the accessories.

When the supermodel headed out for dinner in New York City on Thursday, December 12, she doubled down on statement accessories that came with two very different price points.

Hadid, 28, carried a Saint Laurent Le Sac De Jour bag in a black croc-effect finish, which will set you back $3,900. The epitome of timeless and versatile fashion that can go the distance, the tote was stamped with the designer’s moniker and featured a decorative padlock inspired by vintage luggage. Tied with an heirloom-worthy Hermès silk scarf on one handle, the combination exuded Old Money vibes while also lending her all-black look a welcome pop of print and color.

She wore grandma’s pearl earrings, giving the uptown jewelry staple a downtown twist. With their geometric design and lustrous finish, Hadid’s Missoma bijoux looked like splurge but actually retails for a very reasonable $209. Crafted from 18-carat recycled gold with large button and square cultured freshwater pearls, the brand describes the earrings as “reimagined pearls.”

Given her bag and bijoux were the outfit-makers, Hadid kept the rest of her ensemble more pared-back, though certainly no less polished. She paired a micro miniskirt with opaque black tights tucked into ’90s-esque knee-high black leather boots with a pointed toe and a spiked heel.

Her sweater featured a prim color rendered in black leather, moving the preppy detail to an edgy new place. She balanced out the sultry plunging neckline by wearing her geek-chic eyeglasses, which is another accessory Hadid has recently been making something of a signature.

Just as sophisticated was her long black wool coat, which she wore intentionally oversize to lend the buttoned-up look some much-needed swagger. And let’s face it: grandma could never.
