Angelina Jolie turned the 2025 Golden Globes into a mother-daughter date night.

The actress, 49, was accompanied by her eldest daughter, Zahara, 19, at the Sunday, January 5, ceremony at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. “Z is here,” Jolie told Variety on the red carpet, noting that Zahara gave her metallic gown her stamp of approval. “She’s hiding over there ‘cause you’re live,” she joked about her daughter not joining her on camera.

Zahara complemented her mother’s sparkling look in a white dress featuring silver metallic embroidered detail. While Jolie wore her hair half-up, Zahara pulled hers back in a chic updo.

Two days before their Golden Globes outing, Zahara joined her mother at the 36th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards in Palm Springs, California. The two sported opposite colors at the event, with Jolie contrasting her daughter’s white gown in a black silk dress.

At this year’s Golden Globes, Jolie is nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for her role as opera singer Maria Callas in the biographical drama Maria. Prior to the 2025 awards show, Jolie won three consecutive Golden Globes between 1998 and 2000 for her performances in George Wallace, Gia and Girl, Interrupted. She has received a total of nine nominations throughout her career.

Jolie’s family outing at the Golden Globes comes just days after news broke that she finalized her divorce from Pitt, 61. The exes split in September 2016 and were declared legally single in 2019 but did not sign off on a divorce settlement until Monday, December 30.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” Jolie’s lawyer James Simon told Us Weekly in a statement at the time. “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

A rep for Pitt declined to confirm or comment on the news.

As for the pair’s children, they have supported their mother throughout the lengthy legal battle.

“The kids have grown up seeing that some people have so much power and privilege that their voices don’t matter. Their pain doesn’t count,” a source close to the matter told Us in December 2024. “They have wanted [Angelina] to speak up for herself, to defend herself over these years but she reminds them to focus on changing laws over telling public stories.”

Despite the headline-making ordeal, the insider said that Jolie “doesn’t speak ill” of Pitt publicly or privately to their children, adding that she has been “trying hard to be light after a dark time.”

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo took a break from channeling their Wicked characters’ aesthetic.

Grande, 31, and Erivo, 37, looked beyond fabulous at the 2025 Golden Globes, which took place on Sunday, January 5. Grande, for her part, stunned in a vintage Givenchy yellow gown featuring a delicate beaded neckline and an empire waist. Erivo opened up to E! about her color switch-up, sharing, “The thing is, green is Elphaba’s favorite color but what she wears is black. So we’ve been playing around with it and bringing green in occasionally.”

Her makeup was just as exquisite, featuring smokey eyeshadow and long lashes. Erivo topped off her look with a fabulous nail design complete with different colored nails and silver jewels, which she said took five hours.

While the stars decided not to wear their Wicked character’s iconic colors, green and pink, they previously channeled Glinda and Elphaba’s wardrobe while hitting the red carpet during the movie’s press tour.

Perhaps Grande’s most talked-about look came at the London premiere in November. For the occasion, she donned a yellow Ralph Lauren gown reminiscent of her Broadway character’s costume that Glinda wore while singing “One Short Day.” Just as Glinda did on stage, Grace accessorized with round green-tinted sunglasses.

Nikki’s Glaser isn’t playing around when it comes to preparing for her Golden Globes hosting gig.

“93,” Glaser, 40, told E! News on the red carpet ahead of the awards show of how many times she practiced her monologue. “[Tonight] will be my 94th time telling some version of this. I mean, it’s still changed even from the last time I told it until now, so we’re constantly making edits, trying to top jokes, trying to strike the right note and tone for the evening. But a lot of work has gone into it.”

While she’s practiced her set nearly 100 times, Glaser wants to be clear: there’s a lot of room for improv, and anything can happen at the 82nd Annual Golden Globes, which air on CBS on Sunday, January 5, at 8:00 p.m. ET.

While this is her first time hosting the Globes, the comedian is no stranger to commanding an audience: Glaser went viral late last year for her performance on Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady, and she has been performing stand-up comedy for over two decades.

“I am feeling so ready,” she said on the red carpet. “I can’t wait to perform. The nerves aren’t there yet. I just got done with rehearsal, I feel so comfortable with it. I just am like, ‘God I can’t wait to tell this to a room full of people.’ It’s going to be so much fun.”

Included in that room of people are heartthrobs and 2025 nominees Timothée Chalamet and Glen Powell, who Glaser thinks might “set off something new in my head” when she sees them in the audience during the show.

“[Glen] is going to be in the back and he has to wear sunglasses so he can’t make eye contact with me because it will throw me, I need to stay dry,” Glaser joked about Powell, 36, who is nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, for his performance in Hit Man. “These people don’t talk to me outside of a setting like this, so this is my time to talk to them, for them to look at me. Not that they think they’re better than me, it’s just that I don’t run into these people a lot, so I’m standing up there, and it’s blowing my mind that Angelina Jolie has to listen to me talk for nine minutes.”

“I was so moved and I believed them immediately. It was then that I found all the similarities and I became quite obsessed with the case and with their story,” Koch told GQ Australia in December 2024. “I was taping and taping, auditioning and auditioning, for seven years. Then finally you get the one that is supposed to happen.”

Koch revealed he was so interested in playing Erik that he auditioned for multiple projects related to the Menéndez brothers.

“The reason why he’s been with me for so long is because I auditioned to play him seven years ago for the Law & Order series and for the Lifetime movie,” he said, referring to 2017’s Law & Order True Crime and Menendez: Blood Brothers.

Koch nearly landed the role both times. “I got to the final rounds in both and I ultimately didn’t get it. But I felt like I had to play this part,” he recalled. “I got the audition [for Monsters] and I watched the trial videos for the first time.”

The couple are parents of daughter Arlo, 9, and a son, 4, whose name has not been revealed.

The pair have maintained a relatively private romance over the years, but in December 2024, Brody offered an unprecedented glimpse into his connection with Meester.

Sam Altman said that being a well-known CEO has created distance with some of his friends and colleagues — with one key exception.

"I spend most of my time with the researchers, and man, I promise you, come with me to the research meeting right after this, and you will see nothing but disrespect. Which is great," Altman said in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek published on Sunday.

His comments echo how the startup's CEO has previously talked about his leadership style.

In a 2023 blog post, he wrote: "Fight bullshit and bureaucracy every time you see it and get other people to fight it too." He added,"do not let the org chart get in the way of people working productively together."

In a 2019 post on his blog, months before he became OpenAI's CEO, Altman wrote: "One of the best ways to build a network is to develop a reputation for really taking care of the people who work with you." He said leaders should push employees to "accomplish more than they thought they could" without burning out.

In the far-ranging Bloomberg interview, Altman also talked about government bureaucracy hindering AI development, returning after he was briefly fired by the board in 2023, and his work schedule.

He said his executive team meets for three hours on Mondays. During the week he spoke with Bloomberg, he said he also had six one-on-ones with engineers over two days, a research meeting, and several meetings to discuss "building up compute" and to brainstorm products.

He said he communicated far more internally than with people outside the company.

"I'm not a big inspirational email writer, but lots of one-on-one, small-group meetings and then a lot of stuff over Slack," Altman said.

Power of polite disagreements

Workplace experts say polite disagreement with peers — and even top bosses — is essential to keep teams running smoothly.

CEOs across tech, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, and LinkedIn cofounder Reid Hoffman, have all highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of disagreement from the top.

In his 2016 letter to shareholders, Bezos wrote about how employees should embrace his "disagree and commit" strategy, which is a way to say: "Look, I know we disagree on this but will you gamble with me on it? Disagree and commit?"

"This isn't one way," Bezos added. "If you're the boss, you should do this too. I disagree and commit all the time."

Joseph Grenny, a corporate trainer and the coauthor of the workplace strategy book "Crucial Conversations," said staying silent can carry its own pitfalls.

In a 2016 interview with the Harvard Business Review, he suggested considering "the risks of not speaking up" — which could be the project falling apart or losing the team's trust — and weighing those against the consequences of saying something.

One way to do it is to ask your manager for permission to disagree, Grenny said, by saying something like, "I know we seem to be moving toward a first-quarter commitment here. I have reasons to think that won't work. I'd like to lay out my reasoning. Would that be OK?"

Sabina Nawaz, a CEO coach who was a senior director of human resources at Microsoft for 15 years, wrote in a 2023 LinkedIn post that avoiding disagreement is more damaging to relationships than speaking up. She recommended finding allies for meetings and asking what others think.

"When co-workers realize you let them proceed with a faulty plan, or waited until the last minute to raise objections, they're likely to lose trust in you," Nawaz wrote.
