more…NFL's Christmas Day double-header games were the most-streamed NFL games in U.S. history, according to preliminary Nielsen figures that don't include international viewership.
Why it matters: Once international figures and additional U.S. data is calculated, the league expects both games will have averaged around 30 million viewers each, a source told Axios, representing a massive win for Netflix's live sports ambitions.
Context: Last year's Christmas Day match on traditional television between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders drew 29 million viewers, the second-highest Christmas Day game since 1989.
By the numbers: The first Christmas Day game between the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers, had an average minute audience of 24.1 million, per Nielsen figures provided by the NFL.
Zoom out: In total, the NFL's Christmas Day broadcasts on Netflix, including its pre-game shows and Beyonce's performance, were viewed by at least 65 million people, representing a remarkable day of total viewership for the NFL.
Zoom in: Netflix spared no cost trying to nail its broadcast.
The big picture: Sports are becoming a bigger part of Netflix's live programming ambitions.
Yes, but: Netflix, like most major streamers, will have to work on its technical infrastructure to ensure it has the bandwidth to support major live sporting events without any glitches.
What we're watching: Netflix's successful first live NFL game will serve as an example to other sports leagues that the streamer, which previously said it had no intention of getting into live sports, can attract a big audience.
What's next: Global ratings and additional U.S. insights will be released on Dec. 31, the NFL said. Those figures will provide a more comprehensive look at the NFL;s Christmas Gameday performance globally on Netflix.
Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Justin Watson has three Super Bowl rings to his name, but his personal life with wife Erica Watson is just as rewarding.
“Prioritizing family is my top priority. It’s irreplaceable. If my football career ended tomorrow, I’d still have Erica and [our son] Zion, the two most important people on earth to me,” Justin wrote in an essay for All Pro Dad published in September 2024.
Justin and Erica tied the knot in June 2022 and welcomed Zion in April 2023. The couple announced in November 2024 that they are expecting their second baby. Just as Justin carves out time for his family, Erica makes it a point to support her husband’s football career. She regularly shares photos of herself attending Chiefs games.

Vanderpump Rules alum Scheana Shay is getting ahead of the photoshop accusations.
Shay, 39, shared a Christmas-themed photo from Hawaii on Wednesday, December 25, writing, “Mele Kalikimaka from the Davies family! .” That same day, the reality star took to her Instagram Story to confirm she was actually in Oahu with husband Brock Davies and their 3-year-old daughter, Summer.
“Haters will say it’s photoshopped … proof we were here,” Shay captioned a video of her, Davies, 34, and Summer preparing to take the photo. “Merry Christmas!”
Shay, who rose to stardom after appearing on Vanderpump Rules for a decade, has often used social media to address rumors — and call out Bravo viewers who have criticized her.
‘Vanderpump Rules’ Cast: Then and Now
The most recent joke among fans has been asking how everything affects Shay amid claims she’s being self-absorbed. “Feels like something’s finally about me. I’m laughing when I’m seeing these,” Shay said on her “Scheananigans” podcast in April. “I’ve even retweeted and responded to people because I’m just like, ‘You know what? I like to be in on the joke.”
Shay became the butt of the joke after her comments in season 11 about how deeply affected she was by Tom Sandoval‘s affair with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss — which caused his split from Ariana Madix.
“I just am hurting still. Why can I never have one moment where it can be about me? I am hurt,” she told Lala Kent during a March episode. “I lost a very, very dear friend. I am struggling with that. But I am not allowed to feel anything because it is only about Ariana. I am tired.”
‘Vanderpump Rules’ Cast's Biggest Scandals and Controversies
Later in the season, Shay surprised people when she said she wanted to be a contestant on Dancing With the Stars years before Madix, 39, got the opportunity. The social media response caused Shay to clarify what she actually meant.
“That was my genuine emotion in the moment, and as cringe as I might be sometimes, I don’t ever regret sharing. That is literally my job here,” she explained on her podcast in March. “This season, I was priding myself on trying to be the most open and honest version of myself — even if at times the audience may not agree with me.”
Shay added: “I went way out of my comfort zone this season and I’m hoping that y’all can show me some grace and just understand that a lot of the things that we’re navigating are relatable. I’m putting it all out there because I hope that it helps people who have gone through similar things.”
Ariana Madix Criticizes Scheana Shay for Sympathizing With Tom Sandoval
Despite the current distance between them, Madix came to Shay’s defense. Madix got involved in the drama in August when the official Instagram account for Broadway’s Chicago musical shared a video of her with a caption that read, “One of the hardest working women we know! @arianamadix is only with us until Sept 1!”
In the social media clip, Madix was listing her packed schedule for the summer, which included her cohosting gig on Love Island USA, performing over 100 shows of Chicago on Broadway and an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.
Bravo viewers took the chance to poke fun at Madix’s then-costars, with a fan writing, “I know @scheana punching the air rn cause you booked and busy lol .” Madix responded by defending Shay, adding, “Let’s stop with this .”
Fans have gotten plenty of hints about what to expect from Bridgerton season 4 now that Benedict has been announced as the lead.
The Netflix series, which is based on the book series written by Julia Quinn, centers around members of the wealthy Bridgerton family as they search for love in 19th century London. Season 1 focused on Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page), who were the central couple in the first book, The Duke and I.
Season 2, meanwhile, took inspiration from The Viscount Who Loved Me, which followed Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) finding love with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley). Despite Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) being the subject of the third novel — An Offer From a Gentleman — his love story with newcomer Sophie has not been explored yet.
Instead, the third season focused on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) as seen in Quinn’s book Romancing Mister Bridgerton. The shakeup has since kept readers on their toes as they question who will be the subject of season 4 before Benedict was officially announced as the next lead.
'Bridgerton' Cast and Crew Explain Why the Show Isn't Following Book Order
Before Benedict was confirmed as season 4’s leading man, showrunner Jess Brownell hinted that the new season would follow the second eldest Bridgerton brother. “I won’t give you anything, but I do think that there are some clues at the end of Season 3 of where we’re headed,” she told TV Insider in April 2024. “So yeah, I leave that to fans to pick apart, but I think we’re tipping our hand just a little bit.”
Keep scrolling for everything to know about Bridgerton season 4:
Netflix previously renewed Bridgerton for seasons 3 and 4. The streamer didn’t offer more details about the focus of each season but Brownwell confirmed the season wouldn’t air until 2026.
Before season 3 premiered in May 2024, Brownell confirmed that the writers’ room was already breaking ground on the next arc.
“I can tell you that I know who it’s gonna be. We are in the middle of writing it right now.” Brownell told Refinery29 one month prior in response to a question about which Bridgerton sibling is at the center of season 4.
Netflix announced in July 2024 that Benedict’s love story with Sophie would be the inspiration for the fourth season. Yerin Ha was subsequently cast in the lead role as Sophie’s last name Beckett was changed to Baek.
“What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles — something that she constantly has to overcome,” Ha said during an interview with Tudum in September 2024. “Whether it’s this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict.”
Bridgerton's Biggest Scandals: Controversial Sex Scene, Character Departures
According to Brownell, season 4 was already in production in April 2024. “We actually don’t know when it’s gonna drop,” Brownell told Refinery29 at the time. “We’re still making sure that we write the best possible script that we can before we start production. But we’re really thrilled with what we’ve been working on. So hold out hope!”
“Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball,” read the synopsis posted by Netflix in July 2024.
Brownell said she was “very excited” to follow Benedict’s upcoming love story, telling Tulum, “It felt important for him to explore the fullness of himself before he settles down. He is someone who has big appetites, and we wanted to see him living a big life before he goes into settle-down mode. I’m excited for where we’re going with him in Season 4. There are a lot of things I want to say about it, but I should probably wait.”
In September 2024, Ha and Thompson opened up about how Benedict and Sophie’s love story looks on screen.
“It’s a fairy tale love story but it’s also got the Bridgerton element of trying to sort of tether it to some sort of reality as well and see how that pans out,” Thompson said before Ha noted, “[Fans will see] this kind of emotional tug-of-war, or like this kind of push and pull between I guess what their heart desires, and I guess what society kind of desires for them.”
Season 4 had three — or more — potential Bridgerton siblings who could be chosen to lead the series next. After Benedict’s love story with Sophie was already delayed, it made sense to circle back to him.
However, Eloise (Claudia Jessie) was also a frontrunner after being a main character for several seasons. To Sir Phillip, With Love, which is the fifth book in the franchise, would reintroduce Phillip (Chris Fulton) as he built a connection with Eloise.
Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and her book, When He Was Wicked, was also one to look out for after the character was recast. With Dodd taking on the role after Ruby Stokes‘ exit, Francesca was featured more in season 3, which would prepare her to be the next lead.
“I am really not trying to shake things up too much,” Brownell told Refinery29 in April 2024. “I really believe in the vision of the show.”
The showrunner didn’t rule out departures from the books though, adding, “I really want to serve the stories and the books the best way possible. It just naturally felt like, for Penelope and Colin, it made sense to lean into a romantic comedy tropes. So this season does have a bit more humor in it and it has the awkward banter. So that’s something that will feel slightly elevated in terms of being different from last season.”
Since its 2020 premiere, Bridgerton hasn’t featured many LGBTQIA+ characters on the show. The Queen Charlotte spinoff, which started streaming in 2023, is the first time fans got to see LGBTQIA+ characters explored prominently through Brimsley (Sam Clemmett) and Reynolds (Freddie Dennis).
Brownell, however, is determined to change that moving forward.
“This is a show about love in its many forms, and I think that it’s only right for us to foreground queer love and to tell queer stories,” Brownell told Pride in April 2024. “I want to see more queer joy on my screens, and that was definitely a priority for me when I stepped into the showrunner role.”
Brownell remained tight-lipped on which characters might learn more about their sexualities, adding, “How exactly that plays out over this season and the next couple seasons, I can’t say specifically, but I will say I’m excited for fans to see that.”
Season 3 subsequently confirmed that both Benedict and Francesca were part of the LGBTQIA+ community. “To welcome positive, happy queer love storylines [that aren’t] all about angst or tragedy or things going wrong, it’s a really lovely thing,” Thompson told Bustle in June 2024.
'Bridgerton' Stars Who Left the Netflix Show: Where Are They Now?
The season 3 finale confirmed a shakeup when Francesca met John’s cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza), whose gender was swapped from the original character named Michael.
“When we started talking about queer representation on the show, we started with a discussion that this is a show about happily-ever-afters, and that we’re not interested in queer trauma — that we really want to see queer joy,” Brownell told Variety in June 2024. “And if we’re going to tell a queer story, we would like to find a way for there to be a happily ever after.”
Brownell acknowledged the potential obstacles for a same-sex couple considering the Regency era setting on the show, adding, “So we have done a lot of research to figure out how we can achieve that within the confines of our world. And after people see the next couple of seasons, I’ll be able to talk about that more.”
Pics from a season 4 table read released via Instagram in December 2024 confirmed the return of characters including Francesca, Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell), Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh), Hyacinth (Florence Hunt), Portia Featherington (Polly Walker), John, Will Mondrich (Martins Imhangbe) and Brimsley.
It is likely characters such as Penelope, Colin, Eloise and Gregory (Will Tilston) will also appear in season 4, along with Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown.
After his season 1 exit, Page hasn’t hinted at any plans to return to the rule of Simon. Meanwhile, Dynevor appeared in the second season but later revealed she wasn’t in the next selection of episodes. Bailey and Ashley, who were the stars of season 2, returned one season later and haven’t ruled out more appearances in the future.
Newton confirmed in April 2024 that he planned to remain on the show. “It’s changed my life so I know that I’ll be sticking around,” he told High Life Magazine. One month later, Coughlan confirmed that they received an invitation to return, telling The Wrap, “They’ve told us we’re back for Season 4, which is super lovely … It’ll be exciting. [We’ll] pop back and have some fun for sure.”
Later that year, Bailey confirmed he will return as Anthony in season 4. “Gonna reunite with the family next week,” he shared during a November 2024 appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, adding, “I’ll always pop back and say hello.”
Benedict’s An Offer From a Gentleman, Eloise’s To Sir Phillip, With Love and Francesca’s When He Was Wicked are the immediate next choices. Hyacinth’s It’s in His Kiss and Gregory’s On the Way to the Wedding are still on the docket, as well.

Celebrities are just like Us, and they read faerie smut, too.
Former football player JJ Watt nearly broke the internet when he revealed he was reading Sarah J. Maas’ steamy romantasy series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, which has taken the internet (specifically BookTok) and the fantasy genre by storm.
First published in 2015, the first book in Maas’s sweeping epic romance follows Feyre Archeron, who for years has struggled to keep her family alive in the magicless human realms of Prythian. However, when Feyre unknowingly kills the sentry of a powerful High Fae named Tamlin, she is transported to a world of magic, faeries and violence where she must fight not only to save her family but her entire realm.
Watt isn’t the only celebrity who has been drawn in by the magic of Prythian and its High Lords: singer-songwriter Maren Morris, actress Megan Fox and playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda, among others, have all checked the first book (at least) off of their TBR list.
A Comprehensive Guide to the Sarah J. Maas Universe: 'ACOTAR' and More
Maas has so far published five novels in the series, with the fifth book, 2021’s A Court of Silver Flames, serving as the first installment not told from Feyre’s perspective but instead from the POV of her ruthless older sister, Nesta. Maas confirmed in 2023 that a sixth ACOTAR book was in the works, though she revealed no further information about the plot. (She is also the author of the best-selling Throne of Glass and Crescent City series.)
“I am working on the next ACOTAR novel,” Maas shared during “Live Talks Los Angeles” in September last year. “I’m drafting it, and that is all I will say.”
A Court of Thorns and Roses television series is in the works at Hulu as well, Us Weekly confirmed in February, though casting choices and a potential release date have not been revealed. Ronald D. Moore revealed in July 2024 that he is no longer the showrunner after moving to Sony. (Hulu is owned by Disney.)

@fathercooper It starts slow but
Cooper started ACOTAR because she needed a distraction with everything going on in the world.
“I f—ing hate everything going on in the world and I’m like, ‘What could distract me? What could take away this emotional hangover?’” Cooper shared in a TikTok video in November 2024 before holding up her copy of the popular fantasy novel. “Best decision. I never thought this book would be for me. I’m more of a romance girlie.”
Cooper noted that she “didn’t know” if she’d be into fantasy novels, but she was pleasantly surprised with how much she liked it.
“I know I’m late to the game, but I’m just telling you, if you need something to distract you, read bitch. Specifically, read this,” she gushed.
The Love Island alum told The News Movement in October 2024 that she had just finished the series. “It has altered my brain chemistry. Everyone should read it, it’s so good!” she said.

The Olympian has read every Maas book, and BookTok quickly determined which Bat Boy would be the best boyfriend for Maher.
“So recently, people were pairing me with Cassian, so I’m going to cast myself as Nesta — and also, I would like to makeout with Cassian,” Maher told Access Hollywood in October 2024. “You know what? I have three sisters, we can all play [the Archeron sisters].”
She even suggested Dancing With the Stars partner Alan Bersten could play The Suriel.
The rapper has found that Sarah J. Maas fans love hearing his deep voice read the spicy scenes, and he even read some passages on stage at concerts. In an August 2024 TikTok, he picked up A Court of Wings and Ruin, introducing his video by saying, “My fellas with toxic masculinity, it’s time to get out of here. Everybody else, it’s time to get steamy.”
“Help, I’m in love with a fictional character,” the Bridgerton actress captioned a July 2024 Instagram Story. “Hannah Fey Katie Dodd is what I will respond to now.”
Watt shared that he had picked up the first book in the ongoing ACOTAR series in April on his wife Kealia Ohai Watt’s recommendation. “Kealia swears by it,” he wrote via X at the time. “I have no idea what I’m getting myself into.”
As a first-time ACOTAR reader, Watt was initially rooting for love interest Tamlin when he started the series, even expressing his desire to play the High Lord of the Spring Court in a live-action adaptation. However, he was encouraged by fans to keep reading before he decided on any favorite characters, as the book series is full of twists, turns and betrayals.
“Finished the first book, started the second. Sucks to suck Amarantha,” Watt wrote via X in April, referring to the first book’s Big Bad. “(although if she’s so magical, how did she not know Rhys helped during 2nd challenge?)” By the time he finished the first book, Watt shared that he didn’t know who he should be rooting for: Tamlin and his best friend and emissary Lucien, or Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court.
Morris shared a photo of herself reading A Court of Thorns and Roses via Instagram in a May photo dump. “A week of horny songs and fiction,” she captioned the post.
In a video, she held up A Court of Mist and Fury, the second novel in the series, and gave a shout-out to a fan-favorite scene: “To those who gave me a heads up about Chapter 55, thank you.”
The Hamilton scribe checked the entire ACOTAR series — which currently consists of five books — off of his summer reading list in 2023.
Fisher, for his part, has read more than one series from Maas, including her first-ever fantasy series, Throne of Glass, published in 2012, three years before ACOTAR’s release. In a video shared via TikTok in April, Fisher shared that he was in the last “hundred pages” of Queen of Shadows, the fourth book in the Throne of Glass series.
“It’s at this point in every Sarah J. Maas book, the last hundred pages, every single Sarah J. Maas book,” the former Disney Channel star said, exasperated. “She don’t give a s—t about you or your family or your feelings, how it affects you at work. She don’t give a s—t.”
The Vampire Diaries alum took to TikTok in March 2024 to post about her experience with the series, sharing a video with the overlaid text, “Me to the fictional book character who didn’t return by feelings,” set to the trending sound from Love Is Blind: “When you see and realize what you missed out on, you are going to choke.”
While Holt didn’t say how far into the series she was, she did ask in her caption, “What does Feyre have that I don’t?” She’ll have to ask Rhys, the High Lord of the Night Court, about that one.
In the comment section of an August 2024 TikTok, Holt shared that her fancast for “the perfect” Rhysand would be Olympic swimmer Thomas Ceccon.
Fox talked fantasy during her March 2024 episode on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast when asked by host Alex Cooper how she likes to unwind at the end of the day.
“I usually stay by the fire and I like to read,” Fox shared. “I read a lot of metaphysical books, but right now I’m reading whatever that new, like, adult version of Twilight book that’s out. It’s like an erotic faerie book.”
A Comprehensive Guide to the Sarah J. Maas Universe: 'ACOTAR' and More
When she confirmed that the name of the series was, in fact, A Court of Thorns and Roses, Fox noted that she was “loving it” so far, though she hadn’t yet “gotten to the horny part” of the story.
“But I know that I’m gonna get there because I know that he has, like, the ability to bind her energetically with magic,” she noted, “and I’m already, like, I’m here for that.”
A behind-the-scenes pic shared via Be Real showed Panettiere reading ACOTAR in 2022 while on the set of Scream VI.
Robbie gushed over her love for all of author Maas’ books during a September 2024 interview with Harper’s Bazaar. (It’s important to note that Robbie and Maas were spotted getting coffee together in February 2024.)
“I’m beyond obsessed. She’s the coolest. You know she’s in her 30s? She’s also a genius. We’ve become friends,” Robbie said of the author, noting that she’s read all of Maas’ books “a million times over.”
Burgess shared a video of herself reading A Court of Silver Flames in November 2024. The social media caption revealed that she got Green to start the series as well.
“I’ve convinced Bri to read the ACOTAR series and I AM HERE FOR IT!” she wrote.
The singer is totally on board with the book series as well, sharing that she “highly” recommends it to her fans.
“I just finished ACOTAR by Sarah J. Maas and I’m reeling…REELING!!! It’s been a long time since a book series has left me unable to put it down and wanting more,” she captioned an X post in November 2024. “There’s still so much to be written!”
The former Bachelorette star gushed over the book via Instagram Stories in December 2024.
“My goodness where do I even start with this book. This is the third book in the series. The first book was really good. The second book was great! And oh my gosh this third book had me floored!” she wrote, in part, while holding up A Court of Wings and Ruin. “This author does such a beautiful job of making you fall in. Love with her characters and their relationship dynamics.”
Kaley Cuoco is soaking up Christmas with 20-month-old daughter Matilda and fiancé Tom Pelphrey.
In a sweet video shared via her Instagram Story on Wednesday, December 25, Cuoco, 39, and Pelphrey, 42, each held Matilda’s hand as they rounded the corner into the family room. Matilda dropped both of their hands before taking off into a run toward her presents underneath the Christmas tree.
As Matilda held her stuffed animal in one arm and checked out her gift with her other arm, the camera panned over to Cuoco and Pelphrey. Cuoco, who rocked matching Grinch pajamas with her family of three, was seen smiling at her daughter.
“When you see what the ‘ho ho’ brought you for the first time,” Cuoco wrote.
In another Instagram Story upload, Cuoco and Pelphrey posed for a selfie with Matilda. “@tommypelphrey Thank u @poshpeanut for Tildys favorite Grinch pjs!” she wrote.
In the next snap, Matilda smiled for the camera while closing her eyes. Cuoco placed a “happy girl” GIF over the snap.
Matilda was also seen smiling as she played with a pink truck. “That new car no license feeling lol,” Cuoco wrote.
Cuoco and Pelphrey confirmed their relationship in May 2022 after meeting through their talent manager.
“We have the same manager, this is a very Hollywood story I know. My manager was submitting different clients and asked me if I knew who Tom was, and she goes, ‘Side note, he’s single,’” Cuoco recalled during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that September. “Months had gone on and we’d never met, and I was promoting Flight Attendant with that same manager, who is his manager. [She asked], ‘I’m going to the Ozark premiere. Do you want to come with me?’
She continued, “So I got all dressed up and I was standing there. I was at the bathroom and I was waiting and I hear this voice — it was Tom — and he’s like, ‘Where’s this Kaley?’ It was, like, love at first sight.”
Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey Cuddle Daughter Matilda on Her 1st Christmas
Cuoco and Pelphrey welcomed daughter Matilda in March 2023. The following year, Pelphrey popped the question to The Big Bang Theory alum. “Amazing weekend,” Cuoco wrote via Instagram at the time, sharing images from the proposal.
While Cuoco and Pelphrey are not in a rush to say “I do,” the pair does plan to have more children.
“They will definitely have another down the line; it’s just a case of when,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2023. “For now, Kaley’s savoring her time with Matilda and counting her blessings to be raising this beautiful baby. She is in heaven, and each day just gets better and better. [Matilda] giggles all the time [and] brings joy to everyone around her and has a very charismatic personality.”
The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On season 3 star Nick Tramontin regrets certain aspects of his experiment participation.
“I definitely did not love how I handled myself,” Nick, 38, said during the Thursday, December 26, episode of “The Viall Files” podcast with now-ex Sandy Gallagher. “[I should have done] way more of this [drinking water], less of the other stuff I was drinking. It’s pretty clear, I think.”
He added, “I wasn’t sleeping, you know, I was having a very difficult time being in my apartment and it just, kind of, tallied up and tallied up and tallied up and I was far more emotionally volatile or reactive than I would ever want to show up for somebody that I care for. I don’t think I showed up with my true authentic self.”
Nick and Sandy, 28, had dated on and off for approximately nine months before joining the cast of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On season 3. On the show, one partner issues an ultimatum either to progress the relationship by getting engaged or calling it quits altogether. To do so, each couple temporarily enters into a “trial marriage” with another costar. Nick paired up with Mariah Zernik, while Sandy matched with J.R. Warren. (Mariah ultimately left the experiment early to reunite with now-fiancé Caleb Lefterys, meaning Nick was alone for the duration of the three-week trial.)
‘The Ultimatum’ Season 1 Cast: Where Are They Now?
“I think that’s just hard to digest in any scenario, especially when you have to watch it on television,” Nick recalled on the podcast, noting he had his “ebbs and flows” with substance abuse struggles before filming The Ultimatum.
He explained, “I recognized through the experience that I needed to take a harder look at it. It had been something that came up in our relationship prior that I would sometimes feel like I had it together and then sometimes I would dip back into it.”
According to Nick, he wasn’t “getting the kind of mental health support and system” to avoid using alcohol as a means to “escape” his life and feelings.
“I was not in a good mental place, I think that’s pretty clear,” the artist recalled, citing his drinking and sleep deprivation as contributing factors.
After the show wrapped amid Nick and Sandy’s breakup, he “did go to check in and see what I could do for myself to change that behavior.”
“I never recognized it as something that I really needed to get help with and it’s been hard,” Nick said. “It’s something that is so socially accepted and especially on shows like these where everybody’s having a drink and people are moving it around. It’s really hard to take a step back from yourself … and look at that pattern.”

Nick, who found that he was “numbing” his emotions by drinking, did praise Sandy’s tireless support of his sobriety through the years.
“No matter what my frustrations were with her, the show and the breakup, she was always consistently supportive of me and getting to a better place,” Nick stressed.
Sandy, for her part, admitted that it was “really hard to navigate” Nick’s patterns of substance abuse but would always “drop everything” to help when she could.
“I really gave it my all with trying to be there for you and show up for you,” Sandy said. “I would drop everything and go make sure he was OK if he was struggling with certain things.”
Nick and Sandy both stressed that they remain on amicable terms since they parted ways. He has also started dating again, telling podcast host Nick Viall that they are “far more on the same page” than he ever was with Sandy.

Bachelor Nation’s Michael Allio appeared to soft launch a new relationship on Christmas.
“We got everything we wanted this year. Hope you did too,” Allio, 40, captioned an Instagram video on Wednesday, December 25. “Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays friends. Here’s to the best year yet.”
In the clip, Allio could be seen decorating a Christmas tree with his 8-year-old son, James. While putting up the ornaments, an unidentified woman walks into the frame with the assist. Fans were quick to comment about this apparent new romance for the Bachelor in Paradise alum. (Allio shares son James with late wife Laura, who died in 2019 following a battle with breast cancer.)
“Loooooove seeing you and your son happy,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Hoping whoever she is she brings you and your son happiness.”
Amanda Kloots also shared a comment, writing, “Merry Christmas guys!”
Allio made his Bachelor Nation debut during Katie Thurston’s Bachelorette season. Following his elimination from the show, he went on the eighth season of Bachelor in Paradise, which aired in 2022.
During his tenure on the beach, Allio kicked off a relationship with Danielle Maltby. While they didn’t get engaged when the season came to an end, the duo left Mexico as a couple. One year after their love story played out on TV, the former couple announced their split.

“I guess I’ll just come out with it. We’re not together anymore,” Allio said during a September 2023 episode of Jason Tartick’s “Trading Secrets” podcast. “It’s not what we planned. We both threw a lot into this relationship and it’s really awful when it doesn’t work out.”
He added, “You mourn the loss not of just that person and that friend in your life, but also the future that you had envisioned. And it’s to no fault of hers.”
Allio said that Maltby, 39, “poured everything” into their relationship but things didn’t work out in the end.

Maltby, for her part, clarified Allio’s statement when publicly addressing their breakup.
“This breakup was not a mutual decision arriving at some perception of incompatibilities,” she shared via social media days after Allio talked about their split. “However, I do hope the best for Michael, and I will always have [his son] James in my heart as we move forward separately.”
She added, “I know so many people were rooting for Michael and I, and I appreciate your support so much. I don’t regret the love I gave for a second.”
