Elton John and David Furnish's Relationship Timeline

23 December 2024 at 11:38

Sir Elton John and David Furnish have an everlasting love story after connecting right off the bat.

“He was very well dressed, very shy,” the “Rocketman” crooner told Parade in early 2010 of their first meeting in 1993. “We fell in love very quickly. He was independent. I didn’t need to take care of him. I thought, ‘God, this is new territory for me — someone wants to be with me just because he likes me.’”

After spending nearly a dozen years together, the pair made their relationship official in December 2005 shortly after same-sex civil partnerships were declared legal in England.

The twosome — who tied the knot in December 2014 — eventually expanded their family, welcoming sons Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John and Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John in 2010 and 2013, respectively.

John — who publicly came out as gay in 1996 — opened up about his journey and meeting the “love of [his] life” in an open letter to Zachary and Elijah.

“Looking back over the past 75 years, there is so much I am proud of, so much I have learned. As you are the two most precious parts of my life, I want to share some of those lessons with you,” the songwriter penned in a Time magazine essay in March 2022. “Being true to myself is what gave me my voice and helped me face my greatest fears. I’ve forged deep friendships, found the love of my life and became your Daddy. Whoever you grow up to be, just be you — fully and completely you.”

The spouses attended the 9th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation's "An Enduring Vision" benefit in NYC in October, just two months before the Christmas Day birth of son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John. Born via surrogate, their little boy weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces.
“For many years we have talked about fulfilling one of our greatest wishes by becoming parents," John exclusively told Us at the time. “And now this wish has been granted to us, we feel so blessed and lucky.”
The following month, John told Us that he “never felt anything” like holding Zachary for the first time, adding, “You’re so awestruck. What can you say? You take it in. The feeling, the joy, the warmth of his body, his breathing. I will never forget that experience ever.”

The pair welcomed son Elijah via surrogate.
“Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable,” the couple gushed to Hello! magazine. “The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way. It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement."

“They know that daddy is famous but … when we are out in the summer and people are taking our photograph or asking for a photograph, they say, ‘Why do they want your photograph?’ And we always say, ‘Because people like my music,’” John told Us and other reporters at the time, while attending his annual Oscars bash with Furnish. “They know what Daddy does, but I never bring Elton home. I try to leave Elton on the stage. They’re quite grounded, as far as that goes. They love their daddy’s music, but they also like a lot of other people’s music.”

John earned a knighthood from the British royal family.
“The most magical morning accompanying Elton as he collected his Companion of Honour at Windsor Castle,” Furnish captioned an Instagram snap. “So richly deserved. Congratulations my darling, I’m so proud of you .”

©

“Sharing a moment of creation  To celebrate the creation of Elton Hercules John ,” Furnish wrote about his husband via Instagram. “75 years ago today he arrived on this planet. And he’s been rocking and rolling ever since. I can’t begin to imagine my life or a world, without this glorious, loving, kind, caring, beautiful man. A spectacular husband and a deeply devoted father.” He added: “Happy 75th Birthday my darling  . I love you. Forever and ever .”
That same month, Furnish revealed that the couple’s kids were inheriting John’s musical interests. “They’ve obviously been exposed to a lot of music in their life,” he exclusively told Us at the 30th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party. “They both love music. All Elton and I try to do as parents is expose them to as many things as possible and encourage them to be open-minded and follow in life what they love and what they feel passionate about. That’s more important than anything. You can’t tell your kids what to do.”

The twosome walked the red carpet at John’s AIDS Foundation's 31st Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party in March 2023 in Los Angeles.

You are the best father, hardest working artist and musician, bountiful humanitarian, loving partner, and most loyal friend," he captioned a photo of the "Tiny Dancer" singer, adding, "Love you forever."
In response, John commented, "I love you and am so incredibly lucky to have you in my life, thank you for everything."

The couple took to social media to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary (and 19 years of their civil partnership).

Reality TV Tragedies: The Saddest and Most Shocking Deaths

18 December 2024 at 13:17

Fans grow to know and love reality TV stars as real people, not as characters — which makes the loss hit even harder.

In recent years, stars from The Deadliest Catch, The Real World, Survivor, The Real Housewives, Buckwild, and The Bachelorette have died suddenly and tragically.

In some cases, the production of the show is massively impacted. In April 2013, MTV hit pause on the production of Buckwild, a reality series that followed nine young adults in West Virginia, after the death of star Shain Gandee.

The reality star, along with his uncle and friend, were found dead after an off-roading accident. Gandee was 21 years old. According to the West Virginia Sheriff’s Department, the group died of carbon monoxide poisoning when the vehicle got stuck in the mud.

The show was canceled one week following the death, and the first part of season 2 was never aired.

Dancing With the Stars' Hottest Romances Through the Years

18 December 2024 at 10:17

Throughout Dancing With the Stars history, pros have struck up romances with their partners, other contestants and fellow pros — and while some showmances didn’t stick, others are still going strong.

Gleb Savchenko and Keo Motsepe made headlines in fall of 2020 after they were both linked to season 29 contestant Chrishell Stause. Savchenko was accused of being more than friends with his partner in November 2020, after his wife of 13 years, Elena Samodanova, announced their separation.

Savchenko and the Selling Sunset star denied the allegations, and Stause went Instagram official with Motsepe one month later. Us Weekly confirmed in February 2021 that the pair had split after a whirlwind romance.

Actor Daniel Durant and his season 31 partner, Britt Stewart, got together after they danced together on the ABC series in 2022. They confirmed their romance in February 2023 and announced their engagement that December.

After witnessing their steamy chemistry on the show, it came as no surprise when a source exclusively told Us in September 2024 that the season 33 dance partners are “hooking up.” The insider added that the pair’s dynamic is “casual for now” and “they’re both just having fun.”
Nader shared a flirty TikTok video of herself and Savchenko in October 2024. In the clip, Savchenko rubbed his hand on Nader’s butt and leaned in to kiss her cheek.
Later that month, another insider exclusively told Us that the pair split about a week after being eliminated from the competition. “Gleb ended things, but Brooks is continuing to live her best life,” the source shared.

The season 31 partners — who placed 5th in 2022 — began dating after meeting on the show. They debuted their romance via Instagram in February 2023. They announced their engagement before the new year. “Forever!!” Stewart captioned Instagram pics of their Christmas Day proposal. Durant popped the question while on a hike with their parents. “Ending 2023 engaged! I’m still pinching myself,” Stewart later wrote via her Instagram Story. “Love you forever @danielndurant.”

In May 2022, multiple sources exclusively told Us that the One Tree Hill alum, who was separated from ex-husband Mike Caussin during her stint on the reality series in 2016, hooked up with her pro partner while he was still married to Elena Samodanova. (The Ballroom dancers split in November 2020.)

She justified it by saying, ‘We were legally separated,’” he claimed to Us regarding Caussin, who was in rehab for sex addiction at the time. Kramer and the former NFL player called it quits for good in November 2021.)

The pair began dating in December 2020, nearly one year before they were partnered together on season 30 of DWTS.
“They’ve talked about marriage and future plans for sure. Sharna seems to be the one who wants it to happen sooner than later because she wants to start having kids,” a source told Us in January 2022. “She’s been having baby fever with all the Dancing With the Stars babies — it’s cute to see. She can’t wait to have a family of her own.”
The following month, the pair announced their first pregnancy. In June 2022, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Zane.

Three years later, Johnson announced in July 2022 that she is pregnant and expecting the couple’s first child. They welcomed their son, Rome, in January 2023.
“I love my Val snuggles. I love just, like, touching him,” Johnson exclusively told Us in September 2020, after the pair moved into their first home. “He always jokes because he’s like, ‘You love to be alone, but with me next to you.’ And it’s so true. So I do miss my hubby!”

Though the couple claimed that they’ve never gone on a date, they did admit to sharing a meal together. When asked if he’s ever kissed his partner, Chmerkovskiy responded, “Her face is just so small and her lips are so big that anywhere I’m going to kiss is going to land on her lips.” Parrish married her boyfriend Chris Long in Hawaii in 2018.

©

The ballroom duo broke up in 2014 after three years of dating. They reconciled shortly after and Farber popped the question in October 2016, after the pair performed an intimate duet, and tied the knot in March 2018. The duo called it quits for good in August 2022 and Slater filed for divorce six months later, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

©

The ballroom dancer met Rose while she was partnered with his brother Maksim on season 23 in 2016. The pair started dating in September of that year, only to split five months later. “We lead very different lives and unfortunately it didn’t work out between us but what does that even mean?” Val wrote via Instagram in February 2017. “Maybe it worked out perfectly. I will continue to support her, praise her and defend her.”

©

The duo, who were partnered on season 18 in 2014, had a history before taking the stage together. “I actually met James once before for dinner,” Murgatroyd revealed during a video package at the time. “We kind of hit it off. I thought he was a good looking guy and then he went away on tour for two weeks and I didn’t see him until he walked into the studio.”Murgatroyd, who wed fellow pro Maksim Cherkovisky in July 2017, added that she and Maslow were “keeping things professional.”

The couple called it quits in September 2011, five months after they first stepped out together.

Did Jamie Foxx Make a Dig at Katie Holmes in Netflix Special?

16 December 2024 at 07:37

After initially keeping their romance under wraps, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx put their love on display after going public in 2015.

Holmes began her relationship with Foxx one year after finalizing her divorce from Tom Cruise in 2012. (Holmes and Cruise, who share a daughter, wed in 2006, two years after she called off her engagement to Chris Klein.)

After two public romances, the actress remained largely tight-lipped about her personal life after moving on with Foxx. Six years into their relationship, they made their red carpet debut in May 2019 at the Met Gala where they posed for photos.

However, Us Weekly confirmed three months later that Foxx and Holmes called it quits after half a decade together.

Scroll through to revisit Holmes and Foxx’s relationship timeline:

The pair were spotted at Barbra Streisand’s concert in NYC, where Holmes cheered on Foxx as he performed. "Jamie is someone she can trust and have fun with," an insider told Us of Holmes at the time. "She's getting everything from Jamie that she didn't get with Tom."

The low-profile duo was spotted celebrating Valentine's Day with an outing to play basketball in Calabasas, California.

©

A source close to Holmes and Foxx told Us that their relationship works “because of the love, compassion, trust and support they have for each other.” Though the insider added that Foxx and Holmes “do lead their own separate lives,” they also "confide in and rely on each other pretty heavily. They’re definitely very serious.”

Taylor Swift’s Celebrity BFFs Through the Years

13 December 2024 at 10:43

Since becoming a global superstar, Taylor Swift has amassed quite the crew of celebrity friends.

The Grammy winner aligned herself with the likes of Cara Delevingne, Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss in the early 2010s. That exclusive squad eventually evolved to a smaller, tight-knit group.

“In my 20s I found myself surrounded by girls who wanted to be my friend,” Swift wrote in a May 2019 Elle essay. “So I shouted it from the rooftops, posted pictures and celebrated my newfound acceptance into a sisterhood, without realizing that other people might still feel the way I did when I felt so alone.”

Swift noted the importance of “learning the difference between lifelong friendships” and “situationships,” explaining, “It’s sad but sometimes when you grow, you outgrow relationships.”

She realized true friends were “the ones who stuck around” through highs and lows. “I have friends and fans in my life who don’t care if I’m #canceled,” she wrote. “They were there in the worst times and they’re here now.”

Mahomes, who is married to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, sparked a friendship with Swift during the 2023-2024 NFL season after the pop star began dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
“They have a really genuine friendship and love hanging out at the games together and cheering on their men,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in January 2024. “Brittany loves that Taylor is dating Travis, and she’s so supportive of their relationship. They have a very similar sense of humor and are always cracking jokes and laughing.”
When not cheering on their respective partners on game day, the pair have been spotted enjoying girls’ night out and dinners together.

©

“It's one of my deep friendships and I love and admire her so much,” the actress, who appeared in Swift’s “Bejeweled” music video alongside HAIM, told People in January 2024. “To find a friend amidst the creative, and she's a superpower. ... She's incredible. So that's been really fun.”

©

The pair were spotted smiling together at the 2014 Golden Globes, and then the Oscar winner was seen rocking out at Swift's Eras Tour in Mexico City in 2023.
“She’s actually really sweet … the best, it’s crazy,” Chastain said of Swift during a December 2023 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I met her in 2011 at the Met Ball, and we were both — it was, like, the first year I was invited to the Met Ball. First year I had movies out and we were both sitting next to each other.” Chastain had “just gone through a breakup” and chatted with Swift about the split.
“We went and danced together. It was such a fun night,” the actress shared. “Then, the next day, I had an e-mail from iTunes that said, ‘Taylor Swift,’ whatever. I just thought it was a Taylor Swift album. She had made me a breakup playlist that she sent me.” Chastain called the gesture “the sweetest thing.”

Ice Spice appeared on the May 2023 remix of Swift’s song “Karma” and performed the song live with her at The East Rutherford, New Jersey, Eras Tour stop that month. The duo first connected after Ice Spice’s team heard her praising Swift’s 2020 documentary Miss Americana.
“What I took away from Taylor’s documentary is you really do need to work hard, and not everything is going to be as easy as it seems,” Ice Spice told Variety for a September 2023 profile on her. “My manager heard me talking about that and had reached out to her team, and then they had a song for me.”
Swift also contributed to the piece, telling Variety via email, “I relate to Ice in many ways, but I think her dedication and focus is what blew me away from the very start. She’s extremely professional without being cold. Playful and fun without ever taking her eye off the prize. She knows what is and isn’t ‘her’ and sets those boundaries with grace. She studies the industry and other artists’ careers but is very clear about charting her own definitive, original path. It’s her ability to carefully find that balance that impresses the hell out of me.”
The two musicians became friends after their collaboration. They were seen dancing, chatting and laughing together at the September 2023 MTV Video Music Awards and watched the Kansas City Chiefs win the February 2024 Super Bowl together from the same VIP box.
Some have theorized that Swift and Ice Spice’s friendship isn’t genuine, citing the “Karma” remix coinciding with Swift’s former flame Matty Healy getting heat for making disparaging remarks about Ice Spice. However, Ice Spice shut down the speculation during a July 2024 interview with Rolling Stone.
“[It’s] so rude to me, [because] why would she not want to be my friend?” Spice said of those who think her friendship with Swift is fake. “Taylor f—ks with me. She’s so funny. I think our personalities mesh really well.”
The “Princess Diana” singer added that she “never really cared” about the Healy controversy and said “he apologized multiple times.”

Miles and Keleigh, who tied the knot in 2019, both appeared in the November 2021 music video for Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version) vault track “I Bet You Think About Me,” which was directed by Blake Lively.
Miles portrayed a groom haunted by memories of Swift, the ex he let get away, on his wedding day. Keleigh played his wife and mouthed “thank you” when Swift presented her with a gift box containing a red scarf, an iconic piece of Swiftie lore from the Red song “All Too Well.”
“So grateful for @Miles_Teller for being the greatest dance partner and friend to me,” Swift wrote via social media after the video’s release. “And @keleighteller, who is the coolest living human on planet earth. The bride was willing to risk it all 🥰🧣.”
Miles later revealed that his wife had gotten emotional on the set of the project.
"When we were shooting the music video, Taylor played for Keleigh the ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version)' for the first time," he told E! News in July 2022. "Keleigh was just looking at Taylor in her wedding dress and Taylor and I dancing while she was listening to ‘All Too Well,' the new one, and she was just bawling her eyes out."
In December 2023, Swift was spotted in Manhattan with Miles, Keleigh and Selena Gomez on the eve of her 34th birthday.

The "Nonsense" singer not only opened for Swift on several dates of the Eras Tour in 2023 but was also spotted hanging out with Swift at the VMAs that September and at one of Travis Kelce's football games the following month.

Weeks after Joe Jonas (who dated Swift when they were teenagers) filed for divorce from the Game of Thrones alum in September 2023, Swift and Turner were spotted dining together in New York City. It was their first public outing, but the pair previously exchanged compliments via social media.
When Swift released Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in 2021, she dropped the song “Mr. Perfectly Fine” — a “vault track” that seems to be about Jonas. Turner shared her thoughts via her Instagram Story at the time: "It’s not NOT a bop." Swift shared the post via her own profile, writing, “Forever bending at the knee for my queen of the north.”

©

The duo seemingly met at the 2012 MTV European Music Awards, and they began their prolific songwriting relationship in 2013 with the track "Sweeter Than Fiction" (written for the movie The One). Antonoff, who was dating Swift's pal Lena Dunham at the time, went on to write three songs with Swift for her album 1989, including the hit "Out of the Woods." He has worked on every subsequent Swift album, including her re-recordings.
Antonoff's two Album of the Year Grammy Awards were won for Swift's 1989 and Folklore.
“@taylorswift , from 1989 to here ... goddmann. you are the one who let me produce records first," Antonoff wrote via Instagram in a tribute to Swift after scoring their Folklore Grammy in 2021. "Before you i just “wasn’t a producer” according to the herbs. i just wasnt let in that room. then i met you, we made out of the woods and you said, “that’s the version” and that changed my life right there."
He later appeared in her 2022 music video for "Bejeweled" and made a May 2023 appearance at the Eras Tour as a guest performer.
Swift was spotted at his New Jersey wedding to Margaret Qualley in August 2023.

The Daisy Jones and the Six actress has been close with Swift since the mid-2000s. In October 2016, Waterhouse was spotted among Swift’s squad going to a Kings of Leon concert. Us confirmed in June 2019 that Swift and Waterhouse went on a double date with Joe Alwyn and Robert Pattinson in Hollywood. (Swift and Alwyn called it quits in April 2023.)
In August 2023, Swift gushed over Waterhouse’s talent as a singer and sang her praises for being a loyal friend. "Suki has always seemed like she stepped out of a time machine. Her music is so raw and hopelessly romantic because that's how she moves through the world,” Swift told Ssence. "When we hang out, I often come away wondering how someone can be simultaneously spontaneous and free — and also preternaturally wise. She is the wildest person I know who I would also trust to keep any secret."

©

Bridgers was featured on the song "Nothing New" from Swift's rerecorded album Red (Taylor's Version), which was released in November 2021.
“I think that the specificity of Phoebe’s lyrics and the vulnerability she expresses in her voice when she delivers them is what makes her music so deeply impactful and moving for me as a fan,” the "Maroon" musician told the Los Angeles Times for its April 2022 profile of Bridgers, who was one of many artists opening for Swift on her Eras tour.
In March 2023, the "Motion Sickness" singer presented Swift with the Innovator Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. In her introduction, Bridgers gushed about her fellow songwriter's authenticity.
"Taylor has always told the truth. She’s written songs from exactly where she is. Her music shifted genre in the same way life does —in the same way being 16 is totally incomparable to being 18, 22, 25, 28. I’m grateful that I’ve grown up in a world with Taylor Swift in it. Or, ‘The World (Taylor’s Version),'" she said.

©

The "Summertime Sadness" singer has a featured appearance on Swift’s Midnights album on the track “Snow on the Beach.” She also cowrote the song.
During Swift’s Eras Tour concert in Las Vegas, she gave a shoutout to her pal while introducing her “Snow on the Beach” live rendition. “I just think she’s the best that we have,” she gushed about Del Rey in March 2023. “So I think we need to make it a priority, as a group, to stream, buy, support this album and this artist.”

Swift started hanging out with the Gossip Girl alum and the Deadpool star in 2015. She included the couple’s daughter James’ voice in her 2017 song “Gorgeous” and revealed their third child Betty’s name in a 2020 track. The following year, Lively directed the music video for Swift's reimagined version of "I Bet You Think About Me."

The "Hole in the Bottle" songstress gushed over her close friend while speaking to E! News on the Grammys red carpet in April 2022, raving, "I feel like she constantly makes people proud whether you know her or not. She's always just advocating for change and pushing everything forward for everyone." Swift had the chance to break her own record by winning her fourth Album of the Year trophy, and although she lost to Jon Batiste, Ballerini said she's "always on [Taylor's] team."

Harrington wrote via Instagram, alongside a photo of the "I Bet You Think About Me" singer photo bombing the couple as they relaxed on a sofa.

The Teen Wolf alum was Swift's "first choice" to star in the "All Too Well" music video, and the pair formed a tight bond as they worked on the project together. "I had a feeling he would be great at ad libbing and adding nuance to his character, which enriched the story tenfold," the "Nothing New" singer wrote in an email to Bustle in March 2022. "He absolutely blew me away and I feel really lucky that I gained such a great friend from the experience too."O'Brien was equally effusive about his new BFF, praising her for allowing him and costar Sadie Sink to contribute to the creative process with the dramatic post-dinner party argument. "For someone who’s that meticulous, she’s so trusting. ... Everything was planned to be to music," he told the outlet. "But then when we played out that scene [with dialogue]. [Taylor] immediately marched over and was just like, ‘This is it. I’m going to play this in the video.’ The confidence to just identify that in the moment on set and take in what we were bringing to it [shows how] she’s so sound with relationships and her instincts."
The "All Too Well" short film star made a subtle appearance on Swift’s Midnights album in October 2022. In the song, “Question…” clapping can be heard, and the album's credits reveal that O’Brien, Swift’s brother Austin, music producer Jack Antonoff and his sister Rachel proves the sound effect. The actor also played the drums on the track “Snow on the Beach.”

While filming The Batman in London amid the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, Kravitz and Swift were in the same pandemic pod. NYT Magazine editor Jake Silverstein later told Women's Wear Daily that Taylor helped Kravitz with a virtual photoshoot.
"Zoe was being very strict about it anyway because she's shooting a movie," Silverstein said. "And Taylor Swift was in her pod and willing to assist."
While the singer got a "special thanks" shout-out in the December 2021 issue, she also gave Kravitz's performance her approval in March 2022 during the movie's opening weekend.
"@zoeIsabellaKravitz IS THE CATWOMAN OF DREAMS," Swift proclaimed via her Instagram Story alongside a photo of Kravitz as Catwoman on a movie theater screen. "The Batman was PHENOMENAL!!!"
In October 2022, it was revealed that The Batman star cowrote and provided background vocals on Swift’s opening track, “Lavender Haze.”
The pair were seen hanging out in New Jersey at Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley's rehearsal dinner in August 2023.

Swift and Lavigne weren’t always besties. In fact, in August 2015, the “Sk8er Boi” singer seemed to shade the “Blank Space” artist via Twitter after Swift appeared to like a Tumblr post unfavorably comparing their meet and greets. But the singer-songwriters quickly squashed any beef a few days later when Lavigne joined the Pennsylvania native on stage to perform “Complicated” during the 1989 tour. Swift called the 2000s hit a “brilliant pop song” at the time — and she is still singing the Canadian guitarist’s praises nearly seven years later. In March 2022, following the release of Lavigne’s album, Love Sux, the “I’m With You” singer showed off a bouquet of flowers from Swift via Instagram. ”Avril, Been dancing around my kitchen to your fabulous new album!! It's AMAZING, like you," read the attached note. "Your forever fan, Taylor."

The “Déjà Vu” singer, who describes herself as a Swift “fangirl for life,” sparked a friendship with the Grammy winner after dropping her first single, “Drivers License,” in January 2021. After hearing the track, Swift wrote Rodrigo a letter and sent her one of her rings as a gift. "I don't want to divulge too much because it's really sweet and personal, but she talks a lot about how, I think, you make your own luck in the world," the Bizaardvark alum told Billboard in its May 2021 cover story. "I don't know, she put it so eloquently, and when I say it now ... it's not as cool.” Rodrigo later gushed about Swift after meeting her at the 2021 BRIT Awards in May. "It's so nice to be welcomed into the music industry and so great to be supportive of other women," she told Variety in August 2021.

Swift has been a good friend to the former Fifth Harmony member over the years, throwing her an 18th birthday party and later inviting her to serve as an opening act on the Reputation tour.
In August 2021, Cabello revealed that she thought of Swift as her "fabulous godmother" after her guidance helped her find her way professionally.
"I started out and I was a teenager when I met her, like 18 or something, and she always gave me great advice," the "Havana" singer told Entertainment Tonight at the time. "She was always really supportive of me and really nurturing and sweet. So in the industry, I would say her."

“My friends are amazing and I’m so thankful to have them, [but] the ones that are like sisters to me are Selena Gomez and Emma Stone,” Swift told PopSugar in August 2011. “They can predict my thoughts; I’ve known them for so long it’s really cool to have friends that are that close.”
The two have kept in touch through the years. Stone was seen rocking out at the Eras Tour in 2023.

“She would be there if everything ended for me,” Sheeran told Rolling Stone in March 2017. “Taylor is kind of an anomaly in that sense. She’s omnipresent because she’s the most famous woman in the world, so she can’t make the decision to not be in the press. I always stick up for Taylor.”

The former X Factor judge has been friends with Swift just as long as Gomez. In 2013, the trio had fun as they FaceTimed each other. "Just a Saturday night. Taylor's tea, Demi's laugh. The longtime best friends attended the MTV Video Music Awards together in 2013 but have had their rough patches. As Us exclusively reported, Swift cut off the "Come & Get It" singer in 2014 due to the latter's on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber. They were back on good terms soon after though, performing together on Swift's 1989 and Reputation tours. Gomez brought little sister Gracie to several stops on the Eras Tour in 2023.

In May 2023, Agron told Rolling Stone that she thought speculation that her relationship with Swift was romantic was entertaining. "That is so interesting," she said. "I mean, there have been many stories about my dating life that are so wildly untrue. That's funny."

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green’s Ups and Downs Over the Years

13 December 2024 at 09:11

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green have had their ups and downs since meeting in 2004.

The former couple met on the set of Hope & Faith when Fox was 18 years old. Though critics often remarked on the duo’s nearly 13-year age difference, Fox was instantly lovestruck by the actor.

“I had to convince him that I was slightly more responsible and well-spoken and had other things to bring to the table besides being 18,” she later told Elle magazine.

The pair first got engaged in November 2006 but called off the wedding in February 2009. By 2010, however, they were back on, and in June of that year, they tied the knot in a ceremony at the Four Seasons on Hawaii’s Big Island.

They welcomed their first child, Noah, in September 2012 and their second child, Bodhi, in February 2014. Just over one year later, however, they announced their separation. Fox filed for divorce in August 2015, citing irreconcilable differences.

Eight months later, Us Weekly confirmed that the New Girl alum was pregnant with her third child. Journey arrived in August 2016, three years before Fox filed to dismiss their divorce case. Less than one year later in May 2020, Green confirmed they split again.

Scroll through for the couple’s ups and downs over the years:

Fox first met Green when he guest-starred on ABC's Hope & Faith. Though she was just 18 years old and "too young to have watched 90210," Fox later admitted she "knew that he was gorgeous and I wanted to get to know him better."

Transformers star Fox once revealed that she fell "instantly in love" with Green on the set of ABC's Hope & Faith. "Everyone was sort of gathered around the monitors watching playback from his scene, and he accidentally grazed my leg with his hand. I felt an electric shocks go through my body, so I figured that meant something."

©

The stars have often been forced to defend their nearly 13-year age difference. "When I talk about my husband, I feel as if people roll their eyes," Fox once told Elle. "It's like when you're 16 and order a martini, and the waiter says, 'Do you think I'm stupid?' "They can't grasp that I'm old enough to be married."

©

Fox cheered on her hubby at the 34th Annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity race in Long Beach, California in April 2010. "I'm a lucky man," Green said of his then wife.

©

Six days after tying the knot, Fox and her new husband packed on the PDA in Kona, Hawaii. The actors at one point considered renewing their vows. "I didn't think that I was into it until my relationship with Brian," Fox once explained to E! News. "He's very sensitive and very emotional. He's a Cancer so he's very all about feelings and relationships and he cries about everything. He'll want to do it, so I'll do it for him."

©

The couple continued to honeymoon in Hawaii. In June 2010, the stars swam with dolphins at Hilton Waikoloa Village. Green isn't a fan of all marine animals, however. "My husband is terrified of sharks," Fox once told E! News.

©

Green surprised his wife with a visit to the Big Cat Encounters Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada in October 2010. The animal-loving actress fed a baby tiger with a bottle full of milk, and Green spent nearly an hour playing with it on the ground.

©

In November 2010, the spouses visited Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. "I can't imagine being without him," Fox once said of Green.

©

After legally becoming man and wife, "We are even more committed to each other, and we always have been," Fox once told Us. "I am more in love with him now than I was in the beginning."

Us exclusively broke the news of their separation in August 2015.

©

Two days after Us broke the news of their separation, Fox filed for divorce in August 2015, citing irreconcilable differences.

©

Eight months after the actress filed for divorce, Us confirmed Fox was pregnant with her third child in April 2016. She joked about whose child was carrying on Instagram at the time. “#Notthefather,” Fox, who is 13 years younger than Green, wrote alongside a collage of photos of herself with her former costars Shia LaBeouf (Transformers), Will Arnett (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and Jake Johnson (New Girl). Us later confirmed Green was the father.

A source confirmed to Us in June 2016 that Fox and Green were “totally back together.”

©

Fox and Green welcomed their third son, Journey River, in August 2016. They are also parents of sons Noah and Bodhi. The Jennifer’s Body star told Extra in November 2017 that none of their children were planned. “My body is barely holding itself together. It’s, like, stitched together with bubblegum and Scotch tape. It’s gonna fall apart if I have another one,” she explained. “[Journey]’s just very calm and kind, and then my older two are wild beasts and they’re always fighting. Everything is a weapon. You can’t have forks, forks are weapons … They’re always trying to kill each other, and it’s so stressful ’cause the baby gets stressed out ‘cause he doesn’t understand what’s going on.”

©

The actor opened up about their relationship during a September 2017 episode of his “... With Brian Austin Green" podcast. “Marriage is hard. It’s work, I think for anyone,” he said. “I think when you get to the point like we have, where you have kids and you’ve been married for a while and we’ve been together for a long time, it’s — you just take it day by day.”
Green continued: “I have no problem with something not working, I really hold no expectations. I try to live day by day. ... Some people look at divorce or things not working as, like, a disappointment and it’s not. The fact that it worked at all is a positive.”

©

In April 2018, the duo returned to the island of Hawaii, where they wed in 2010.

©

Green and Fox made headlines in November 2018 after his ex Vanessa Marcil alleged the pair hadn’t seen his eldest son, Kassius, in five years. The former General Hospital star also claimed Kassius, whom she shares with Green, has “never met his youngest brother and is not allowed to know where his bio father, stepmother and three younger brothers live.”
“12 years ago I was served legal papers and then spent 8 years+ defending myself and my son in custody court in response to his father & his stepmother trying to get full custody(that means I would have seen my son four days a month) and then asking me to pay them child support. They lost that case & a civil case asking me for 200,000,” Marcil wrote on Instagram at the time. “I had also never asked for child support of any kind and had never tried to take time away from Kass’ dad seeing him. Ever. In the end they lost all of these court cases. The judge called them all ‘Frivolous’ They always had 50% custody and still did when court ended as I had and have NEVER asked for full custody.”

©

Us confirmed in April 2019 that Fox filed papers in Los Angeles to dismiss her divorce case against Green. The move came nearly three years after the couple reconciled.

©

Green told Us exclusively in February 2020 that the twosome were done having children. “The kids I have right now are fine,” he said. “It’s enough! I have four kids, three young kids.”

©

Reports that Green and Fox were living separately surfaced in April 2020 after they were seemingly spotted swapping their three sons in a parking lot. While the actress appeared to be living in Calabasas, the actor was seen without his wedding ring on more than one occasion in Malibu.

©

Green confirmed on May 18, 2020, during the “Context” episode of his “…With Brian Austin Green” podcast that he and Fox had called it quits after nearly 10 years of marriage. “I will always love her,” the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum said. “And I know she will always love me and I know as far as a family what we have built is really cool and really special.” The California native got choked up, adding, “It sucks when life changes and something that you’re used to, that you’ve been doing for 15 years, you try and not get rid of but you change. There’s the unknown aspect … there’s that pit in my stomach … I really don’t want Megan and I to be at odds … she’s been my best friend for 15 years and I don’t want to lose that.”

©

Fox wasted no time moving on with her Midnight in the Switchgrass costar Machine Gun Kelly (real name Colson Baker). A month after Us exclusively revealed in May 2020 that the twosome had hooked up, they were spotted packing on the PDA during an outing in Los Angeles. Green addressed Fox’s relationship with Kelly on his podcast.
“From what she’s expressed, he’s a really just nice, genuine guy. And I trust her judgment,” he said in May 2020.

©

"There’s no rule book to it,” the actor said of coparenting his and Fox's three kids during an August 2020 "Hollywood Raw" podcast episode. "There’s no way of doing it right or doing it wrong.  We are learning as we go. The important thing for us is just communicating as much as we can.”

©

After Fox posted a PDA picture with Kelly reading, “Achingly Beautiful Boy … My heart is yours,” Green seemingly shaded his estranged wife by using the same caption for an August 2020 Instagram slideshow of his four kids.

©

Three months after confirming that he and Fox had called it quits, Green hinted that when it comes to getting back together with his ex, he would "never say never." During an Instagram Live in August 2020, the Desperate Housewives alum acknowledged that he and Fox "went through a lot together," including the birth of their "three beautiful kids," and said he wouldn't rule out another reunion. "You never know. I kinda feel like people are on paths in life and sometimes your paths are together and you travel that path together and you see eye to eye and then sometimes those paths do different things," he added. "Right now [our] paths are different and she is on her path doing what she feels she needs to be doing to be happy and I’m on my path doing what I feel I need to do to be happy and it’s not for a lack of love for the kids or lack of being responsible, it’s really important to take care of yourself. It’s important for us as parents to take care of ourselves. I wish her all the best and I wish myself the best as well."

©

Fox made it clear she wasn’t happy when Green posted a Halloween snap with their youngest son, Journey, in November 2020 via Instagram.
“Why does Journey have to be in this picture? It’s not hard to crop them out. Or choose photos that they aren’t in. I had a great halloween with them yesterday, and yet notice how absent they are from my social media. I know you love your kids. But I don’t know why you can’t stop using them to posture via Instagram,” the actress commented on his photo. “You’re so intoxicated with feeding the pervasive narrative that I’m an absent mother, and you are the perennial, eternally dedicated dad of the year.”
Fox went on to sarcastically congratulate Green for having their kids “half of the time.” She wrote, “Congratulations you truly are a remarkable human! Why do you need the internet to echo back to you what should be inexhaustibly evident in the way your children love you?”
Green subsequently deleted the photo and re-uploaded the picture without Journey in the corner. Marcil, meanwhile, seemingly sided with Fox, captioning a photo, “#ImWithYouSister.”

Fox filed for divorce from Green for the second time in November 2020, Us confirmed.

©

Us confirmed in December 2020 that Green filed for joint custody of the couple’s three sons on the same day that Fox filed for divorce.

©

In July 2021, Green shared an Instagram photo of himself kissing girlfriend Sharna Burgess with the caption, “It’s been a really long time since I’ve been with someone I can truly share life with." Fox replied to the snap in the comments, writing, "Grateful for Sharna." The DWTS pro, who went Instagram official with Green in January 2021, reacted to Fox's comment with two white heart emojis.

©

According to paperwork obtained by Us, the twosome’s divorce wasn’t finalized after a judge rejected their petition due to several errors in the documents filed by the pair. One month later, Fox accepted a proposal from Kelly on January 11, 2022, while still waiting to be declared legally single.

©

Us confirmed in February 2022 that the exes finalized their divorce more than one year after calling it quits. A judge signed off on the former spouses’ divorce settlement on February 8.“Megan has moved forward with her life and is pleased with the outcome of the divorce settlement,” a source exclusively told Us at the time, confirming there was no prenup between the pair. According to TMZ, the duo agreed to joint physical and financial support of their three sons. Fox’s maiden name was also restored, per court documents.

©

“I really chose to not look at that situation as any sort of failing at all because it was a 15-year relationship, we have three beautiful kids, so it was really amazing at the end of the day,” the Desperate Housewives alum revealed during a June 2022 episode of the “Viall Files” podcast when asked about his divorce. “I didn’t really take it as it fell apart or something went wrong. I think sometimes that's the natural progression of relationships with people. You have them in your life for the time you do, and you’re on the same path as somebody, so it clicks and it works easily, and then all of the sudden you grow apart.”
Green also commented on the exes’ coparenting dynamic, saying, “Megan and I, with what is it that we do professionally, we don’t have set schedules the same way a lot of other people do. … If she has to travel for work and she’s gone for a week and a half, it's then very important for me that the kids get to see their mom when she’s back in town.”
The Los Angeles native added: “So we try really hard to instead of judging work or traveling or the situations being harder that way and not being so set in stone, we really try and communicate. We share dates of what we know. Be as flexible as possible.”

©

In October 2022, Green opened up about making sure that both he and Fox get to spend the holidays with their sons. "We coparent really well together," he told E! News at the time. "And we don’t fight over time with the kids. We try and alternate holidays between Christmas Day, Christmas Eve. But we’re open to things changing. I’m very aware of — and so is she — that our schedules are insane."
Green continued: "When we do get time, we cherish it. It’s an amazing thing and we support the other parent having time."

©

A source exclusively told Us in March 2023 that Green is in a “really good place” with Fox. The insider added that while the Knots Landing alum “supports" his ex "no matter what,” he has “no opinion” about her relationship with fiancé MGK.
“[He’s] staying out of her private life because it’s none of his business and doesn’t concern him,” the source explains. “When it comes to Megan, his only concern is the boys they share,” the source explained, noting that Green is currently focused on his career, Sharna, and his baby boy.”

©

While a source told Us exclusively in March 2023 that Fox doesn’t use Green “as a support system in terms of her romantic relationships,” they shared that the New Girl alum’s “healthy connection” with her ex “makes things a lot easier when it comes to managing other parts of her life,” adding that they pair have a “great coparenting relationship.”

Look Back at Lindsay Lohan’s Stunning Hair Transformation

10 December 2024 at 13:58

From her signature red hair circa Mean Girls to her short-lived stint as a platinum blonde, Lindsay Lohan has had quite the hair evolution.

A natural born redhead, there’s no question that the actress always goes back to her rust-colored roots, which she has said makes her feel “spunkier.”

That said, Lohan is known for experimenting with her locks. She’ll switch up her cut, color and length on the regular. And to be quite honest, her hair transformations are nothing short of amazing.

In her younger years, she was au natural, rocking her brilliant beyond brilliant red hair in movies like Parent Trap and Freaky Friday. But as she rose to stardom, the Lindsay Lohan’s Mykonos Beach Club star started to switch things up.

She tried out chunky blonde highlights around 2002 and then gave face-framing fringe a try in 2003. After that, the star kept going brighter and blonder. She went from honey hues and bright bobs to a caramel color in 2005.

While she went on to swap between light and dark tones in the following years, she eventually returned to her natural color in 2012.

In 2024, Lohan proved to have a glow up with her warm blonde highlights, which she debuted at the Our Little Secret premiere in New York City. For the soirée, she pulled back her crown into a half-up coif and wore the rest of her mane in loose curls. She donned a full beat with her elegant updo, including long lashes, blushed cheeks, and glossy lips.

Why Judy Greer Turned Down Audition for Claire Dunphy on ‘Modern Family’

1 December 2024 at 14:20

Some of the most iconic roles in film and TV could have looked very different had they gone to the original casting choices.

Before Billy Crudup brought Stillwater singer Russell Hammond to life in the 2000 music drama, director Cameron Crowe had his eye on Brad Pitt, who was “just starting out” in his now-legendary career. “He just really had something,” Crowe gushed during the premiere episode of the “Origins: Almost Famous Turns Twenty” podcast in July 2020.

While Pitt nailed his audition — and had Crowe “rolling on the floor” in laughter — it just wasn’t the perfect fit for that moment. Crowe even admitted that he “wept” when the Fight Club star pulled out of the project.

“But I think in the back of my brain, I knew that he had never fully fallen in love with the character,” Crowe said. “He had fallen in love with the idea of the character. But, maybe there just wasn’t enough on the page.”

The “Burnin' Up” singer revealed that he almost portrayed the iconic superhero in the 2012 movie.
"In the moment, you're destroyed or you're defeated. But you realize this person was brilliant. I remember years ago I was up for Spider-Man and I was so, so excited and it was the year Andrew Garfield got it," Jonas recalled during a November 2022 “Just for Variety” podcast episode. "Obviously, he was the right one."
The Devotion actor added that it was a “big thing” getting called back — and thought he might have a leg up in the audition process due to director Mar Webb initially making his name in music videos before switching to feature films.
"I was like, 'I got an in here,'" the DNCE musician said. "But you know what? I love the process of auditioning and putting yourself out there and having to prove yourself."

The directors of Scream 4 wanted to kick off the film with an homage to the iconic cold-open murder sequence in the first Scream movie, and asked Stewart to play Ghostface's first victim.
"It’s the Drew [Barrymore] character that gets killed in the beginning," the Oscar nominee told Slant in March 2022 about the part she was offered in the horror franchise. "And they created a whole sequence where a lot of people got killed to emulate the Drew thing. But it was just going to be one person, and I was like, 'I can’t do a Drew. I can’t touch that.'"
The screenwriters ultimately decided on a "larger sequence" with more than one victim. Despite turning Scream down the first time, Stewart is open to potentially appearing in another sequel down the line. "I would read the script. I love Neve Campbell so much," she said. "I love that movie. I’ve watched it recently, as an adult though. It’s so gnarly. ... It’s not just a slasher flick. It’s a beautiful movie."

Director P.J. Hogan's first choice for the leading man wasn't Dermot Mulroney.
“My first choice was actually Russell Crowe,” Hogan told Vulture in February 2022. “Russell was, I thought, probably the most amazing actor I had ever encountered. I kind of knew Russell was going to be a really big star.”
He got as far as a table read with Julia Roberts — and that's where it all went wrong. “It was one of the worst table reads I’ve ever experienced," Hogan revealed. "Russell was seated opposite Julia. He gripped that script, and he stared at that script, and he didn’t look at her once. He read every line in a monotone. At one point, Julia was literally leaning over the table, staring, like, inches from Russell’s face, trying to make eye contact. And he wouldn’t look at her. At the end of the reading, Russell came up to me and said, ‘I thought that went pretty well.’ And then I knew: Russell was not going to be in My Best Friend’s Wedding.”

Kidman revealed that she was originally cast as the lead in 2002's Panic Room before an injury changed her plans. The role eventually went to Jodie Foster.
"We were meant to work together," Kidman told Kristen Stewart during Variety's Actors on Actors series in January 2022. "I remember [director] David Fincher saying, 'Oh, my God, we have discovered the most incredible actress.' And then I got injured and ended up not playing your mama."
Stewart, for her part, recalled Kidman's brief time on set fondly, adding, "We spent a couple weeks rehearsing. I have a vivid memory of it, because the way you treat kids is so telling. I felt like I was buds with you. It was two or three weeks, but I was always like, 'She’s one of my friends.' You gave me walkie talkies for Christmas."

Nicole Kidman played the I Love Lucy star in Amazon's Being the Ricardos, but before she took on the role, Blanchett was announced as the star. Eventually, the Thor: Ragnarok actress backed out of the biopic, citing scheduling conflicts. She has no regrets, though.
“It became the movie it needed to be,” Blanchett said during an appearance on Variety's "Awards Circuit" podcast in January 2022, days after Kidman won a Golden Globe for her performance.
She continued, “Those things happen in the right way, at the right time. In the best possible way, you don’t always envisage the same thing; and then it goes on to become a different entity.”

"I think I was one of, like, 8,000 young ladies who read for Monica and Courteney Cox got her," Davis recalled during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden in December 2021. "Courteney and I were in the same yoga class at the time and we used to hang out. The rest of us were, like, unemployed actor waitresses types and we would hang out after class."
She continued: "One day, Courteney was like, 'Hey, guys. Do you want to come car shopping with me? We were like, 'Wow, car shopping!' [Courteney] said, 'I did this pilot, I'm feeling really good about it. I think I'm going to buy a Porsche.' We were like, 'Wow, is she for real?' It was Friends, and it did go very well."

“James [Gunn] and I knew each other, we were friends, we would have game nights at each other’s homes, had a lot of mutual friends,” the Chuck alum recalled on “The Fourth Wall” podcast in November 2021. “And so he had asked me to come in and read for Star-Lord, and I did, and then that led to the next step, and then all of a sudden I was camera testing. Oh man, I wanted that role so bad, like, so, so, so, so bad.”
Levi added at the time: “But eventually, and I think smartly, [Chris Pratt] decided to take the job and so it didn’t go my way, but I hoped I left enough of a good impression with James that when I was auditioning for Shazam, [after] his very dear friend and manager, Peter Safran, calls up James because this is how our industry works. Fortunately, I was in good standing with James … and I think between that and how well James thought I did in the Star-Lord test, he said, ‘Yeah man, you really should give Zach an opportunity at this. I really think he could be great.’”

Screenwriter James Ivory revealed that the Honey Boy actor almost starred alongside Timothée Chalamet in the 2017 film. After LaBeouf’s audition with the Dune star, director "Luca [Guadagnino] and I had been blown away," he wrote in his 2021 memoir, Solid Ivory, according to GQ. "The reading by the two young actors had been sensational; they made a very convincing hot couple." So I wasn't able to do Ferris,” he told Insider. It was a running theme for Hall in those days. The Weird Science actor also said he passed up playing Ducky in Pretty in Pink, another Hughes-written film, because of his hectic schedule. However, he wishes he would have found the time to make Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. “I thought there was a real uniqueness to Ferris," the Edward Scissorhands actor explained. "I thought that would have been a lot of fun.”

However, it’s not the only big movie the Dick Tracy actress declined. She also said no to playing Catwoman in 1992’s Batman Returns and to starring in 1995’s Showgirls. "I saw them both and I regret that I turned down Catwoman, that was pretty fierce," she said of the part that eventually went to Michelle Pfeiffer. “Showgirls? No.”

To become the “Rhythm Nation” singer, Union spared no expense. “I wanted to get the good hair, the Janet hair, from the weave emporium,” she said. “I literally [found] the exact outfit from her album cover. I [drew] in the damn mole. I [was] fully committed.”
When she went to the tryout, she felt confident. “Then in walks Janet,” the You Got Anything Stronger? author said. The R&B icon was also auditioning for a role in the Keanu Reeves movie “and I’m cosplaying as Janet, with a weird drawn-on mole,” Union joked.
Both women lost out on the role and the Being Mary Jane alum believes she knows why. “I think we canceled each other out,” she said. “I’m pretty sure there was a restraining order of sorts.”

Director Peter Chelsom says that Aniston met with him about Kate Beckinsale’s role in the 2001 romance, but the Morning Show star wanted to try different genres since Friends already gave her so much rom-com material.
"I remember when she came in, she said, 'I do a romantic comedy once a week,' her being on Friends at the time, so she clearly had other things on her plate and it was her decision not to do it," Chelsom recalled to Insider in October 2021 for the film's 20th anniversary. "She had come to meet with me in good faith without an offer, but we definitely would have made her an offer if she wanted to make it."

“The only one that I remember clearly was a young Jake Gyllenhaal doing this wide-eyed version of Hansel that was really funny,” the actor told Esquire in September 2021.

While promoting his film The Many Saints of Newark, a prequel to The Sopranos, Liotta explained that he turned down the role in the original series. “I didn’t want to do another mafia thing, and I was shooting 'Hannibal.' It just didn’t feel right at the time," he said.

And I got offered American Hustle, the Jennifer Lawrence part," Chastain revealed on the “Happy, Sad, Confused” podcast in September 2021. “I wanted to do it. It conflicted with [director] Liv Ullmann and Miss Julie. I had been attached to that for a long time and I worship Liv Ullmann, so I had to say, like, 'Sorry, there's conflict'. And it didn't work out.”
Chastain has no regrets, despite Lawrence’s Oscar nomination. “Everything happens for a reason because Jennifer was also way better than I ever would've been in that part," she added.

It was the Younger alum who ultimately won the part, which the Legacies creator credited to Davis' "swagger.” Plec explained that Marcel needed swag to “operate and breathe in the same place as Klaus.”

Barbra Streisand revealed that she would have preferred to see Beyoncé and Will Smith appear as the main couple of 2018's A Star Is Born."At first, when I heard it was going to be done again, it was supposed to be Will Smith and Beyoncé, and I thought, that's interesting," Streisand told The Sunday Project in August 2021. "Really make it different again, different kind of music, integrated actors, I thought that was a great idea. So, I was surprised when I saw how alike it was to the version that I did in 1976." Although the rumored casting wasn't meant to be, the singer admitted that her view of the remake was affected by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga taking over those roles. "I don’t know. I thought it was the wrong idea," she added at the time. "But hey, look, it was a big success, and I can’t argue with success but I don't care about so much success as I do originality."

The actress was cast as Dottie, the character ultimately played by Geena Davis, and she even spent three months training with the Chicago Cubs. However, she quit after Madonna was cast as Mae Mordabito, claiming the movie would be “an Elvis film.” She told The Telegraph she still got paid for the role.
“The studio agreed with me … because it was the only time I ever collected a pay-or-play on my contract. In other words, I collected my pay even though I did not play, and that’s very hard to get in a court,” she revealed.
Winger watched the final film, but she thought the cast was not convincing as “As entertaining as [the final film] was, you don’t walk away going ‘Wow, those women did that,’” she added. “You kind of go ‘Is that true?’”

Reese Witherspoon’s love interest in 2001’s Legally Blonde could’ve been completely different. Paul Bettany, who is now best known as Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, auditioned for the role. However, he lost the part once producers decided they needed an actor who was born in the states. “I loved Paul Bettany for the Luke role, but he was British, and they felt like it needed to be a real American,” casting director Joseph Middleton told the New York Times in July 2021. Eventually, producers realized the part they called “the Luke Wilson role” needed to be played by the Texas native.

The Hunger Games star was in talks for Dakota Fanning’s role of Squeaky Fromme in the Oscar-winning drama, according to creator Quentin Tarantino. “Early on, in the pre-production of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, I flirted around with the idea of — and [by the way], I couldn’t be happier with what Dakota Fanning did, it’s one of the best performances in the movie. She’s amazing as Squeaky Fromme,” Tarantino said on a June 2021 episode of Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast. “She becomes [her]. But early on, I investigated the idea of Jennifer Lawrence playing Squeaky. She came down to the house to read the script cause I wasn’t letting it out. So, she came down to the house and I gave her the script and said, ‘Go in my living room or go outside by the pool and read it.’”The Pulp Fiction director recalled Lawrence being “interested” in the role after she read the script but noted that “something didn’t work out” when it came to final casting decisions. “She’s a very nice person, and I respect her as an actress,” he added.

"Tom Selleck had been cast, and then it turned out Magnum P.I. got picked up," she told Variety in June 2021. "They wouldn’t let him out of his contract, and so he was heartbroken. During a conversation on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast in February 2021, Mortensen recalled how his son, Henry, had a hand in his decision to give up the role of superhero Wolverine before Hugh Jackman ultimately secured the gig. "The thing that bothered me at the time was just the commitment of endless movies of that same character over and over. I was nervous about that," Mortensen recalled of early meetings with director Bryan Singer. "And also there were some things — I mean, they straightened most of them out, but I did take Henry to the meeting I had with the director as my sort of good luck charm and guide. In the back of my mind, I was thinking he could learn something, too, because I did let Henry read the script and he goes, 'This is wrong. That's not how it is.'"
Henry had strong feelings about the way Wolverine would be portrayed on the big screen. "All of a sudden, the director is falling all over himself and then the rest of the meeting was him explaining in detail to Henry why he was taking certain liberties," the actor said. "We walked out of there and Henry asks if he will change the things he told him about, and I say, 'I don't think so. I'm not going to do it anyway, because I'm not sure I want to be doing this for years. And then, a couple of years later, I'm doing three Lord of the Rings [movies]."

The thing I most regret is missing the opportunity to do another film with [director Jonathan Demme]. It was that evil won in the end, that at the end of that film evil ruled out. I was uncomfortable with that ending. I didn't want to put that out into the world.”

The Notebook star revealed in January 2021 that he passed on a role in 2012’s Magic Mike because he had a “fear I would be edited out of the movie.” Marsden told James Corden that he was nervous that “all my lines would be cut out and I’d be an extra just rushing around in a G-string, so I think it was a lack of courage on my part.” Ultimately, the actor doesn’t regret playing one of the strippers in the franchise, which stars Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer and Joe Manganiello. “I could have jumped in and had fun with that,” Marsden added, noting his friends and family, however, “didn’t want to see me like that.”

He could have been a "golden God!" Director Cameron Crowe revealed that the Oklahoma native was at the top of his mind while "in the early stages" of casting the beloved 2000 film. "I had a really good meeting with him around the time of Say Anything," Crowe explained during a July 2020 episode of the "Origins: Almost Famous Turns Twenty" podcast. "And he was just starting out, and he just really had something." Pitt read for the role of Russell Hammond, which later went to Billy Crudup, with early Penny Lane favorite Natalie Portman (the role eventually went to Kate Hudson). Ultimately, both Crowe and Pitt realized it wasn't the right fit. "I think in the back of my brain, I knew that he had never fully fallen in love with the character," the director said. "He had fallen in love with the idea of the character. But, maybe there just wasn't enough on the page."

It was pretty simple. We sent her the script to see if she was interested in it. And if she was interested in it, we would try to make the change.”

"At that point I wasn't smart enough as an actor to let the movie be. Whereas Keanu was smart enough to just let it be."

What a tease! The Sons of Anarchy hunk famously dropped out of the kinky NSFW movie in September 2013 and was replaced by Jamie Dornan. "It was a really, really difficult time in my life. I had already been attached to Crimson Peak for about 14 months, which I said I was going to do with Guillermo [del Toro]," he explained to Us Weekly in September 2015. "To fail on such a grand scale — because Fifty's going to be massive, it's going to be huge … I loved the character and I wanted to do it. I'm also a man of my word."

No prison jumpsuit for her! The Dawson's Creek alumna almost took on Taylor Schilling's role in the hugely successful Netflix series. "I met with her," creator Jenji Kohan told E! News. "She had other things to do. And also, in the beginning, no one knew what this was."

©

Sorry, Scranton! In 2006, the New York Times reported that NBC executives wanted the Billions star to play the idiotic Dunder Mifflin manager in the American reboot of the British original. Steve Carell took the gig after Giamatti turned it down.

Had the hair for it! The Pirates of the Caribbean actor was reportedly one of the actors considered for the role, which eventually went to Matthew Broderick. Other contenders included Rob Lowe, John Cusack, Robert Downey Jr. and Michael J. Fox.

Film exec Harvey Weinstein told Howard Stern that Hathaway dropped out of the drama that earned Jennifer Lawrence an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2013. "Silver Linings Playbook was originally going to be with Anne Hathaway and Mark Wahlberg … and then Anne wasn't doing it. And she's marvelous and wonderful and she was my choice, I love her," he said in January 2014. Turns out, everything worked out! At the same Oscars, Hathaway won in the best supporting actress category for her role in Les Misérables.

Bye, Jack Dawson! Paltrow almost starred in the 1997 box office smash — still one of the highest-grossing films of all time — over Kate Winslet. "I look back at the choices I've made and think, Why the hell did I say yes to that and no to that? And you know, you look at the big picture and think: There's a universal lesson here. What good is it to hold onto roles?" she told Howard Stern in January 2015. "My mother [Blythe Danner] will kill me that I'm talking about turning down movie roles. She says it's not ladylike."

While appearing on the Howard Stern Show in February 2023, the Whale actor shared he was up for the role of Superman in the 2006 film that starred Brandon Routh.
"Everyone in town was reading for Superman. They were testing six or seven guys in 2002 or 2003," Fraser recalled to Stern. "Of course, it's a life-changing, amazing opportunity, but I had to reconcile with, 'Okay, say you do get the job to be the Man of Steel. It's going to be chipped on your gravestone. Are you okay with that? You will forevermore be known as the Man of Steel.' There was a sort of Faustian bargain that went into [the] feeling, and I think inherently I didn't want to be known for only one thing, because I prided myself on diversity my whole professional life. I'm not a one-trick pony."
As the Mummy star shared his disappointment over missing out on the role, he hypothesized the reason might have been due to "shenanigans and studio politics" and his screen test.

During a June 2023 panel discussion with Deadline, Harrison Ford cited the Blue Bloods star as the reason he earned the starring role in the Indiana Jones franchise.
"How I got the job? Tom Selleck had the job, but he also incurred an obligation to do a television series and he was unable to get out of that contract," Ford recalled. "I became the second choice, and I’m very grateful for Tom. Thank you, Tom, man. If you’re listening, thank you again."

See Which Celebs Love Visiting Disney Theme Parks

26 November 2024 at 10:51

Celebrities are just as obsessed with Disney World and Disneyland as anyone else — and these photos prove it.

When Hollywood’s A-listers wish upon a star, they just might end up at one of Mickey Mouse’s theme parks. However, some celebs started making trips to Cinderella’s castle long before they were well known.

“I grew up in Orange County, so I grew up going to Disneyland all the time,” Milo Ventimiglia explained during a February 2018 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, noting that he spent an eventful 12th birthday at the California park. “Growing up at Disneyland, I mean, it was one of those places that you’d go and you’d fall in love, but you’d also, like, go and, like, get in real trouble.”

Ryan Gosling had a similar experience growing up on the Mickey Mouse Club Florida set. “That place was a landscape to me. I had adventures every day. … Backstage at Disney World, there are stories,” he told Esquire in August 2011. “Mickey Mouse with his head off, drinking coffee on break. Pirates on the phone. Ghosts in line for food. It just made me see things.”

'Dancing With the Stars' Winners Through the Years: Photos

25 November 2024 at 13:30

Since 2005, celebrities have battled it out in the ballroom for a chance at glory on Dancing With the Stars.

Celebs including Kim Kardashian, Kelly Osbourne and Kirstie Alley have waltzed, tangoed and cha-cha-cha’d their hearts out, only to come up short against the competition.

With the help of professional dancers — including Derek Hough, Julianne Hough, Mark Ballas and brothers Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy — some stars have earned the coveted title of America’s best dancer.

Derek, for his part, took home six trophies — with partners Brooke Burke, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Grey, Kellie Pickler, Amber Riley and Bindi Irwin — before becoming a judge in 2020.

“When Tom Brady won a seventh Super Bowl, I was like, ‘Oh no, do I need to go for seven here?’” he exclusively joked to Us Weekly in May 2021. “No, I think — who knows? I never say never, but for right now, I’m looking forward to going back as a judge.”

Take a look back at the stars whose fancy footwork earned them a spot on the elite list of DWTS winners below:

©

©

The inaugural season of DWTS in June 2005 featured only six celebrity dancers — Trista Sutter, Evander Holyfield, Rachel Hunter, Joey McIntyre, John O'Hurley and soap starMonaco, who won the competition with pro Mazo in his first of five seasons on the show. (He never again finished higher than eighth place.)

©

In January 2006, DWTS upped the number of contestants to 10. Among them were Lisa Rinna, Stacy Keibler, Jerry Rice, Tatum O'Neal and eventual winner Lachey. The 98 Degrees boy bander gave then-rookie pro Burke her first mirrorball victory, earning three perfect scores throughout the season, including two during the February 2006 finale.

©

Months after winning season 2 of DWTS, returning pro Burke won again in season 3, dancing to victory with the former NFL player in November 2006. Other contestants during that cycle included Vivica A. Fox, Joey Lawrence, Willa Ford, Jerry Springer and runner-up Mario Lopez, who, along with partner Karina Smirnoff, gave Smith and Burke a run for their money.

©

Newbie pro Julianne interrupted Burke's two-season winning streak by taking home the mirrorball trophy with the Olympic skater in May 2007. Their rumba, paso doble and freestyle dances on the finale put them above fellow finalists Joey Fatone and Laila Ali.

©

Race car driver Castroneves sped to victory in November 2007 with second-time winner Julianne, who beat out her own brother, Derek, in their first season together. (Derek and Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Jennie Garth placed fourth in the competition, behind Marie Osmond and Jonathan Roberts in third and Mel B. and Maksim in second.)

©

Olympic figure skater Yamaguchi added a DWTS trophy to her 1992 gold medal on the season 6 finale in May 2008. She and partner Ballas earned three perfect scores in the final week of competition for their cha-cha, freestyle and jive routines.

©

The Utah native earned his first victory in November 2008 with Burke, who later cohosted the show with Bergeron before being replaced by Andrews in 2013.

©

Fresh off her performance at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she won four gold medals and one silver medal, the gymnast joined forces with Ballas to take home the season 8 mirrorball trophy in May 2009. Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke were the runners-up.

©

Season 9 of DWTS kicked off in September 2009 with 16 contestants instead of the usual 13. Notable names included Melissa Joan Hart, Kathy Ireland, Aaron Carter, Joanna Krupa, Kelly Osbourne and Mya, the latter two of whom made it to the finals with eventual winner Osmond and his partner Johnson. The lifelong showbiz vet earned two perfect scores on the finale for a freestyle routine and an Argentine tango.

©

Scherzinger drew on her Pussycat Dolls experience to win the season 10 trophy with then-second-time victor Derek in May 2010. Other contestants that had a very memorable season included astronaut Buzz Aldrin, reality TV stars Kate Gosselin and Jake Pavelka and actress Pamela Anderson.

©

Nobody puts Baby in a corner! Grey relived her Dirty Dancing days in the fall of 2010, when she and partner Derek cha-cha-cha'd their way to mirrorball glory. Their six perfect scores throughout the season — including three during finals week — put them at the top of the heap.

©

DWTS pro Johnson earned her second win in May 2011, with the NFL player. They had some tough competition, though, namely from runners-up Kirstie Alley and her partner, Maksim, and third-place finishers Chelsea Kane and Ballas.

©

The actor and Army veteran won more than just fans' hearts on season 13 of DWTS. With help from Smirnoff, he triumphed over stars including runner-up Rob Kardashian, talk show hostess Ricki Lake, actor David Arquette, Kristin Cavallari and model Elisabetta Canalis.

©

The NFL player beat out stars including Jaleel White, Gavin DeGraw, Sherri Shepherd and Maria Menounos to win the coveted trophy in May 2012. Runners-up Katherine Jenkins and Ballas actually had a higher total score from the judges during finals week, but Driver and his partner earned more votes from viewers.

©

The Bachelorette alum — who finished third on season eight of DWTS — returned for DWTS: All-Stars in the fall of 2012, along with 12 other former contestants including Joey Fatone, Bristol Palin and Gilles Marini. She and Dovolani narrowly beat out former champs Kelly Monaco and Shawn Johnson, earning two perfect scores and a 28.5 during the two-night finale.

©

The country singer may have finished sixth on season 5 of American Idol, but she was No. 1 on season 16 of DWTS in the spring of 2013. With Derek by her side, she waltzed to victory over contestants including Bachelor alum Sean Lowe (who memorably dedicated a dance to his now-wife, Catherine Giudici), Real Housewives star Lisa Vanderpump, and Disney Channel phenom Zendaya.

©

The Glee star gave DWTS vet Derek his record-breaking fifth mirrorball victory in the fall of 2013. They beat out fellow finalists Corbin Bleu and Smirnoff, and Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke, with a perfect-scoring samba-quickstep combination to "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher." Other competitors that season included Christina Milian, Leah Remini and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi.

After 14 seasons, Maksim finally earned his first win in May 2014, with the Olympian.
