Cavs' Jarrett Allen stuns fans with backward halfcourt shot before game
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been red hot to start the 2024-25 season, and center Jarrett Allen underscored that statement with an impressive trick shot before Monday night’s game tipped off.
The Cavaliers’ matchup with the Utah Jazz was delayed because of an issue with one of the rims at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Allen had some fun trying to make sure he stayed warmed up before the tip.

Allen went to halfcourt and took a backward shot. He sunk it, and the crowd in the arena went wild.
The All-Star center is averaging 13.2 points and 10.1 rebounds per game for the Cavaliers this season. He’s averaging one steal and nearly one block per game as well. He earned Defensive Player of the Year votes last season.
2025 NBA DRAFT ODDS: WHICH TEAM WILL SELECT COOPER FLAGG?
He’s in his fourth full season with the Cavs. He was acquired in the middle of the 2020-21 season from the Brooklyn Nets as part of the blockbuster deal that saw James Harden head east in a trade that included the Houston Rockets.
Cleveland has been one of the bright spots in the NBA this season. The Cavaliers jumped out to 15 straight wins to begin the year and have kept up that pace even with four losses on the year. Going into the game against Utah, the team had only lost once in December.
The Cavaliers hoped to start a little Christmas break on top of the Eastern Conference and in good spirits as the rush toward the postseason truly began this week. The Cavaliers have three days off before they begin a four-game road trip starting with the Denver Nuggets on Friday.

‘Virgin River’ Actor Leaves After Playing [Spoiler] — But Could They Return?
Virgin River is going full steam ahead for season 7 — minus one actor who has officially left the hit Netflix series.
After the sixth season premiered on Thursday, December 19, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith was asked about actor Mark Ghanimé‘s future on the show as Cameron, to which he exclusively told Us Weekly, “I love that relationship, and, I think this season saw a little bit of a sendoff for Cameron. In terms of Mark, the actor who I adore, he unfortunately won’t be coming back for season 7.”
Smith didn’t rule out a potential return in the future. “But that’s not to say that Cameron’s not a part of our world forever,” he added. “I would love to bring him back, and bring his character back when the story presents itself.”
Ghanimé, 47, joined Virgin River in season 4 as a new face at Doc’s clinic and a love interest for Mel. Things fizzled out for Cameron and Mel quickly and he subsequently reconnected with Muriel but had to part ways when his ex reentered the picture. Cameron and Muriel initially called it quits in season 5, but he came back after finding out about her breast cancer diagnosis.
'Virgin River' Showrunner Explains Season 6 Ending, Teases What's to Come
Elsewhere in the season, Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) finally got married. The pair were in for a surprise, however, when a local teen girl asked Mel to adopt her baby.
“With Marley and that situation, we will continue to see Mel and Jack move down their path towards parenthood,” Smith explained to Us. “We get to live in the newlywed bliss that they have and the challenges that come with that as a new married couple.”
He added: “I think that with the pace at which we’re moving comfortably gives us a lot of opportunity to just keep telling more and more stories for as many seasons to come as possible.”
‘Virgin River’ Cast’s Dating Histories Through the Years
There’s also a love triangle to worry about after exes Brie (Zibby Allen) and Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) slept together. Fans of the fictional couple didn’t get to see them ride off into the sunset, however, after they broke the news of their infidelity to Brie’s boyfriend, Mike (Marco Grazzini). Instead, Mike chose to propose to her, which left Brie conflicted.
“A good love triangle is only as strong as the options you’re presenting, and also looking at the influence that [Brie’s] choice would have on her life,” Smith noted to Us. “So imagining what her future could look like with Brady compared to what it could look like with Mike. And I think that’s where it works really well.”
Virgin River is currently streaming on Netflix and has already been renewed for season 7.

Elton John and David Furnish's Relationship Timeline
Sir Elton John and David Furnish have an everlasting love story after connecting right off the bat.
“He was very well dressed, very shy,” the “Rocketman” crooner told Parade in early 2010 of their first meeting in 1993. “We fell in love very quickly. He was independent. I didn’t need to take care of him. I thought, ‘God, this is new territory for me — someone wants to be with me just because he likes me.’”
After spending nearly a dozen years together, the pair made their relationship official in December 2005 shortly after same-sex civil partnerships were declared legal in England.
The twosome — who tied the knot in December 2014 — eventually expanded their family, welcoming sons Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John and Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John in 2010 and 2013, respectively.
John — who publicly came out as gay in 1996 — opened up about his journey and meeting the “love of [his] life” in an open letter to Zachary and Elijah.
“Looking back over the past 75 years, there is so much I am proud of, so much I have learned. As you are the two most precious parts of my life, I want to share some of those lessons with you,” the songwriter penned in a Time magazine essay in March 2022. “Being true to myself is what gave me my voice and helped me face my greatest fears. I’ve forged deep friendships, found the love of my life and became your Daddy. Whoever you grow up to be, just be you — fully and completely you.”
