While there was never a conversation about Jonathon Johnson potentially becoming the next Bachelor, he is happy for his good pal Grant Ellis.
“No, not a mention, not an ask, not a, ‘Hey, we’d love to sit you down for a conversation?’” Jonathon, 28, claimed on the Saturday, January 25, episode of the “Lightweights” podcast, referring to a perspective offer to lead the franchise. “Not once.”
Instead of Jonathon, the next Bachelor is Grant, whom Jonathon met on Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette last year. Grant’s journey to finding “The One” kicks off on Monday, January 28.
“I have no idea [why he was chosen] but I always make the joke it’s ‘cause he’s over 6 foot and I’m 5’11,” Jonathon teased.
Jonathon has also been in touch with Grant, 31, since filming wrapped.
“I’ve talked to him, but not about the season,” Jonathon revealed on the podcast. “I mean, we all keep that under wraps the best that we can. So, out of respect for him, I just don’t ask when I see him.”
He continued, “I know that he’s doing well. I don’t know how it played out [and] I don’t know if he’s with somebody. I don’t know where they went, like, all I know is that he seems good. He seems happy.”
Both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette frequently culminate in an engagement after the lead narrows the contestants down to one. The task was apparently difficult for Grant, according to show host Jesse Palmer.

Both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette frequently culminate in an engagement after the lead narrows the contestants down to one. The task was apparently difficult for Grant, according to show host Jesse Palmer.
“I was surprised. That was something that I haven’t encountered yet as the host in the last four years on any of the franchises,” Jesse, 46, exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “Normally, I think, our leads have a little bit more clarity — a lot more clarity — heading into the final day. And I really think that’s how conflicted Grant really was.”
According to Jesse, Grant was so conflicted based on the caliber of his “incredible” group of women.
“They’re phenomenal every year for whoever our lead is [and] making that decision on the final day is always a very, very difficult decision, but I can appreciate some of why Grant was so conflicted. I’ll just say that,” Jesse explained. “But absolutely without giving away too much, that was authentic and it’s real and it’s not an edit.”
Jesse further hinted that Grant seemed “very, very happy with how things ended” on his season.
“I know he’s really excited for everybody to watch this whole thing unfold. Grant’s a very easy guy to root for,” Jesse told Us. “I’m a fan of his and I know he’s a guy that’s been so successful in everything he’s done in his life outside of love [so far]. With Zach [Shallcross] and Joey [Graziadei], we’re kind of running this streak a little bit and I think we have a chance to keep this thing going, fingers crossed.”
Zach, 28, and Joey, 29, were the most recent Bachelors and are still engaged to their respective final rose picks: Kaity Biggar and Kelsey Anderson.
The Bachelor season 29 premieres on ABC Monday, January 27 at 8 p.m. ET.
Former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky revealed that her husband, Kevin Manno, is battling papillary thyroid cancer.
“We found out recently that @kevinmanno has Papillary Thyroid Cancer. Thankfully it’s a very treatable cancer,” Fedotowsky, 40, and Manno, 41, wrote in a joint Instagram post on Sunday, January 26. “He has 2 malignant spots on his right side and it appears it is also in one lymph node, but we won’t know for sure until his surgery.”
Fedotowsky also asked her followers to “share any experiences” that they had with thyroid cancer diagnoses.
“We are specifically curious about stories related to whether or not you or someone you know had their full thyroid or half of it removed with the cancer only on one side,” the caption continued. “If the surgeon gets in there and determines the whole thing has to be removed regardless, we will of course move forward with that. But going into the surgery, he has a choice to be aggressive or leave half if possible.”
They concluded, “Thank you all for the love and support you’ve always shown us. We are grateful .”
Fedotowsky and Manno also uploaded a video further discussing his health scare.
“We always try to be very open and honest,” Manno said in the footage. “We’re open books with our lives. We want to give you guys a quick update with something that’s happening over here in the Manno family, but I’m not stressing about it.”
Manno, a radio DJ, had recently undergone both a biopsy and CT scan, which led to the diagnosis.
“The prognosis is very good,” he added. “It looks good. It’s going to be something I can go in [on] February 10th [and have a] surgery. We’re going to knock it out and it’ll be behind us.”
Fedotowsky, for her part, chimed in to note that Manno is “sometimes too positive” about the procedure.
“That’s where I need my mind,” he quipped in response. “I’m not supposed to be stressed, so I need to be positive.”
Fedotowsky and Manno have been married since 2017 and share two children: Molly, 8, and Riley, 6. While they didn’t share the kids’ reactions to the diagnosis, Fedotowsky revealed that the pair already had appointments with a surgeon about removing Manno’s thyroid.
“We also met with another oncologist to get a second opinion and learn,” Fedotowsky added. “The first thing he said to us was, ‘If you have to get cancer, this is the cancer you want to get.’ Because it’s so treatable. He called it a ‘boring cancer.’ That’s good [and] what you want to hear.”
“Because 3 kids wasn’t chaotic enough ,” Compono, 32, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, January 25. “Baby #4 coming August 2025 .”
Compono uploaded a portrait of kids Anthony, 3, Liliana, 2, and Carmella, 11 months, sitting in order of their ages below balloons that read “1,” “2” or “3.” Below a “4” balloon was a framed sonogram photo with the words “Coming Soon.”
Nichols, 37, reshared the announcement via his own Instagram Story later that day.
Several of the couple’s Challenge costars shared their excitement in the Instagram comments.
“Congrats ,” Tori Deal replied, while Kailah Casillas asked, “When ya buying the school bus? so happy for you .”
Compono and Nichols met while filming The Challenge: Battle of the Exes 2 in 2015, going on to date on and off. Nichols ultimately proposed in December 2019 before they said “I do” two years later in March 2021. Compono found out she was pregnant with son Anthony one month before their nuptials. He was born in September 2021.
“Zach got to see him before me while he held my leg and watched him come out,” she exclusively told Us Weekly at the time. “But when he was put on my chest and we both got to see him, it was amazing. We made this adorable little life. It’s truly the best feeling ever. We haven’t put him down once yet; we are completely obsessed.”
Compono added, “We are looking forward to bringing Anthony home and just having fun being parents. Zach is super hands-on and I can honestly say I haven’t changed one diaper yet. He continues to impress me every day, and you can easily see that being a dad came so naturally for him.”
While the reality TV alums have their hands full with almost four kids, they might not be done expanding their brood. In 2020, Compono ruled out another Challenge stint because of their family plans.
“We want six kids,” she said in an Instagram Story Q&A at the time.
“It is so great to be here hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time. I’mso excited to be here as more than just a musical guest, [it] feels amazing,” Styles — who previously performed on the NBC show four times — gushed in his monologue. “It feels like when you find out someone likes you as more than just a friend. Saturday Night Live and I have taken things to the next level and just like all my serious relationships, we’re all gonna spend one incredible night together, and then we’ll never see each other again.”
While Styles insisted that music was his No. 1 priority,he still had room for busting out his comedy chops, spending time with loved ones and having great hair. “I love being here at SNL. It has so much history,” Styles gushed.
Scroll below for a look back at which stars have been both the SNL host and musical guest during the same episode:
“A Complete Unknown just got eight Academy Award nominations — and I’m truly overjoyed,” Chalamet, 29, said during the Saturday, January 25, show. “I was literally crying in my dressing room here when I found out. The entire creative team worked extremely hard to bring to life the brilliant artist Bob Dylan, a man whose music and career has become a guiding light to me.”
Chalamet was recently honored with a 2025 Golden Globe nomination for the role, which he ultimately lost to Adrien Brody. Earlier this week, he scored a 2025 Oscars nomination for the same performance.
“It’s an enormous honor going to these award shows. It’s such a great experience, but I just keep losing,” he lamented in his monologue. “Each time it gets harder to pretend it doesn’t sting.”
According to Chalamet, he ended up licking his post-Golden Globes wounds via “another lonely night with my Dune popcorn bucket.” (The actor also starred in the Dune films, which AMC promoted by releasing a themed popcorn container that many fans believed appeared sexual.)
“The most embarrassing part is I’ve got this sad, little speech in my pocket for four years that I’ve never gotten a chance to read,” Chalamet said. “I was thinking, maybe tonight, I could read it for everyone here.”
As Chalamet prepared to use the SNL stage as a would-be award show to finally deliver his speech, longtime SNL cast member Kenan Thompson took over the moment.
“Thank you, thank you,” Thompson, 46, quipped, holding a fake trophy. “We did it! Thank you so much. I didn’t expect this. To my fellow nominees, you did beautiful work this year. Anyway, I love Bob Dylan. This is for you, Bob. We got a great show for y’all.”
Chalamet then pretended to sulk, even lamenting that Thompson the iconic SNL catchphrase.
“Come on, Kenan, can I do that part? I’m never here,” Chalament pleaded. “I just wanted to say that I’m really excited for tonight. You might not know the Bob Dylan songs I’m performing, but they’re my personal favorites. I’m so grateful that Saturday Night Live is still doing weird stuff like this 50 years in. They’re either really nice for letting me do this or incredibly mean. I sincerely can’t tell. We’ll find out.”
Later in the episode, Chalamet performed “Tomorrow Is a Long Time” and “Outlaw Blues/Three Angels.” His performances were introduced by former SNL star Adam Sandler, who kept making jokes about mispronouncing Chalamet’s last name.
Saturday Night Live airs on NBC Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET.
Trace Cyrus has another public message for his father, Billy Ray Cyrus, amid alleged back-and-forth drama surrounding the singer’s health.
“Dad, my message was beyond loving. I could have been extremely honest about a lot more, but I don’t want to put your business out there like that,” Trace, 35, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, January 25. “But for you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace. Pappy is looking down at you with such disappointment, I can assure you.”
Trace continued, “You should be ashamed of yourself. I will always love you, but I no longer respect you as a man. Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I’m not. Get help.”
Billy Ray, 63, has not publicly responded to Trace’s accusations and it is not clear what type of alleged “legal action” the Grammy winner appeared to be considering against his son. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.
Trace, for his part, doubled down on his stance and further claimed that he learned of the apparent legal battle through an unnamed “family member.”
“For all of you wondering, no, I still haven’t heard from my dad,” Trace claimed via his Instagram Stories on Saturday. “He did contact a family member to let me know he’s taking legal action against me for encouraging him to get help.”
The former Metro Station frontman added, “Dad, I live 30 minutes away from you. You could’ve just come and talked to me like a man.”
According to Trace, the “last good day” he had with Billy Ray was during a Father’s Day visit in 2022.
Billy Ray adopted Trace and his sister Brandi Cyrus after he married their mother Tish Cyrus in 1992. Tish, 57, and the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer went on to welcome children Miley Cyrus, Braison Cyrus and Noah Cyrus before they divorced in 2022. (Billy Ray also shares son Christopher Cyrus with ex Kristin Luckey.)
Earlier this week, Trace alleged in a lengthy Instagram statement that Billy Ray was “not healthy” and tried to offer his assistance. Billy Ray did not address Trace’s message at the time.
“I’ve spent the last year getting to know my dad better than I ever have,” Braison wrote via his Instagram Stories on Friday, January 24. “After he spent a week in the hospital in the fall, I’m grateful that my dad is happy, healthy and ready to make this record.”
“It’s a rare opportunity to make something this special and tell my dad’s story through music,” Braison added on Friday. “Can’t wait to finally share it.”
In response to Braison’s claims, Trace appeared to insinuate that neither his sibling nor his dad were doing well.
“Birds of a feather, flock together,” Trace alluded on his Instagram Stories. “This is what healthy looks like. Braison, I can help you too. Damn, man up boys.”
Braison later told People on Saturdaythat he doesn’t “have any bad feelings toward anyone in my family,” referring to the apparent sibling squabble.
Olympic gold medalists Evan Bates and Madison Chock make the perfect pair on and off the ice.
Chock and Bates, who were first partnered during the 2011-2012 figure skating season, started dating in 2017.
“We just really fell in love on the ice and grew closer together,” Bates exclusively told Us Weeklyin February 2018, noting that he had a crush on Chock when they were teens. “I love her personality. I love her zest for life.”
Bates and Chock have continued to go for the gold at the Olympic games, which impacts their romance.
“When we’re training, we sort of lead kind of quiet lives,” he told Us. “We stay home a lot and we go to bed early!”
After five years together, Bates proposed in June 2022 during a vacation in Thailand. While preparing for their 2024 wedding, they still enjoy skating together in competitions.
“We still love what we do and we enjoy the process,” Chock gushed to Olympics.com in 2023. “Having to put in the work day in and day out over the years, you have to be in love with the process. That’s something that we’ve done and we still have those feelings.”
Keep scrolling for Chock and Bates’ cool-as-ice relationship timeline:
2011
The pair were first partnered during the 2011 season. (Bates previously placed 11th at the 2010 Olympics with then-partner Emily Samuelson.)
Years later, Chock gushed to NBC Sports that she and Bates “got on really well” even before they competed together, gushing that they had “good chemistry right from the start.”
2017
Amid their career highs, Bates and Chock started dating.
2018
They adopted two toy poodles together, Stella and Henry.
“Our dogs look like us! My dog is blonde and has curly hair, her dog is black and has, like, really distinct eyebrows,” Bates joked to Us that February. “We have really nice dogs. They’re amazing!”
Chock and Bates competed together at the Olympic Games in 2014, 2018 and 2022. They were named co-captains of the 2022 ice skating team during the tournament in Beijing.
June 2022
“Left home with my boyfriend, coming back with my fiancé! ,” she wrote via Instagram, confirming Bates had popped the question.
January 2024
They won their first Grand Prix Final title in December 2023, one month before officially becoming Olympic gold medalists.
Chock, Bates and the rest of Team USA had initially finished in second behind the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) during the team figure skating event. After a lengthy investigation, ROC star athlete Kamila Valieva was disqualified for doping, leading Team USA to take home the gold instead.
“It’s been very unexpected,” Chock said on the Today show during an interview with Bates and their teammates. “We just didn’t have much information and people would always ask us. … I didn’t realize how much had been weighing on me, and probably, weighing on all of us, until we found [out] the news. It almost felt like a weight had been lifted to just feel this closure from the Beijing games.”
June 2024
Bates and Chock wed on June 20 in the bride’s native Hawaii, later telling Peopleabout the ceremony’s traditions.
“The leis represent unity and the coming together of separate elements to make a whole greater than the sum of its parts,” Chock said. “In marriage, you come together as individuals to create a partnership together.”
January 2025
Chock and Bates won their sixth U.S. ice dancing championship on January 24, tying the record for most wins by an American team with retired skaters Meryl Davis and Charlie White.
“I did it,” the Grammy-winning rapper, 36, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, January 25. “Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal.”
She added, “I haven’t seen this number since 2014! Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!”
Lizzo (real name Melissa Jefferson) also uploaded a workout selfie, where she posed in a burgundy-colored sports bra with a matching pair of leggings. She also added a sticker to the image, which read, “Congratulations! You’ve met your weight goals.”
In a follow-up post, Lizzo revealed that she has dropped both 10.5 on her BMI and 16 percent body fat since January 16, 2023.
“I actually am on an intentional weight loss journey right now,” she said in another Instagram Story video on Saturday. “Even at the end of my weight loss journey, I’m not going to be considered thin by any means. I will still be considered morbidly obese on the BMI and little bros on the internet are still gonna call me big-backed, but I will be happy — and I am happy.”
Lizzo added in a singsong, “Told y’all I was gonna bump like this. Y’all didn’t know I could bump like this. Let this be a reminder that you can do anything that you set your mind to. Now, I guess it’s time to set new goals.”
Since last year, Lizzo has prioritized her health.
“I’ve been methodical, losing weight very slowly,” Lizzo told The New York Timesin an April 2024 profile, noting she tries to take a walk or do Pilates at least once a day. “I don’t really see it because if anyone who’s on a natural weight-loss journey knows, losing weight is actually the slowest thing in the world and you don’t really notice it until you notice it. Also, the scale’s not really moving. But anyway, that doesn’t matter. I’m super proud of my current lifestyle.”
She further noted at the time, “I’m not going to lie and say I love my body every day. The bottom line is, the way you feel about your body changes every single day. There are some days I adore my body, and others when I don’t feel completely positive.”
Five months later, Lizzo was accused of using Ozempic to slim down.
“When you finally get Ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit,” she wrote via Instagram in September 2024, denying the speculation.
Ozempic, Wegovy and other similar semaglutides are commonly prescribed to adults with conditions including high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes to help manage their weight. Many celebrities have tried these medications as a way to slim down quickly, but doctors have warned against its use for casual weight loss.
Justin Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman has forcefully responded to Blake Lively’s request for a gag order in the former costars’ ongoing legal case surrounding the filming of It Ends With Us.
“The irony is not lost on anyone that Ms. Lively is so petrified of the truth that she has moved to gag it,” Freedman told Us Weekly in a Saturday, January 25, statement. “The immense power that she wielded in Hollywood built on pure fear of her husband and their powerful friends came to an end the moment Ms. Lively planned a mass distribution of a disturbingly false and well-calculated hit piece in The New York Times.”
Lively, 37, publicly accused Baldoni, 41, of sexual harassment and alleged workplace misconduct via an article published by the Times in December 2024. Baldoni denied the claims and subsequently filed a lawsuit against the newspaper for libel. He also filed a separate lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, earlier this month, alleging in court docs that Lively was “determined to make Baldoni the real-life villain in her story” to mask her alleged “tone-deaf” promotion of the film.
Earlier this week, Freedman released a 10-minute video of Lively and Baldoni filming a dancing scene for 2024’s It Ends With Us. As a result, Lively requested a gag order via her legal team, claiming the footage was “damming.” Baldoni’s team is now filing to stop Lively’s motion from being approved by a judge.
“Ms. Lively did this with the sole intent to ruin the lives of innocent individuals, and then went the extra mile to place blame on a fictitious smear campaign, all because she quite simply could not accept that the public had organically seen through her facade,” Freedman added in his statement. “When you accuse innocent individuals of something so disturbing as sexual harassment without thinking of the destruction it would cause to not only them but the entire domestic violence community, this is where accountability for such mean-spirited actions must be taken.”
He continued, “We will always respect the court; however, we will never be bullied by those suggesting we cannot defend our clients with pure, unedited facts. All we want is for people to see the actual text messages that directly contradict her allegations, video footage that clearly shows there was no sexual harassment and all the other powerful evidence that directly contradicts any false allegations of sexual harassment and subsequent smear campaign. It seems that in a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
Lively has not publicly addressed Freedman’s latest statement. Us has reached out for comment.
The Gossip Girl alum, who starred as Lily Bloom in It Ends With Us, has previously denied all of Baldoni’s accusations and slammed Freedman for releasing the set footage.
“The video shows Mr. Baldoni repeatedly leaning in toward Ms. Lively, attempting to kiss her, kissing her forehead, rubbing his face and mouth against her neck, flicking her lip with his thumb, caressing her, telling her how good she smells, and talking with her out of character,” her legal team said in a statement at the time.
Jack Nicholson’s daughter Lorraine Nicholson used to be close friends with one of her father’s paramours.
“For many girls, best friends are their first loves. They spend all their time together. Learn from each other. Protect each other,” Lorraine, 34, wrote in a Friday, January 24, essay for Vanity Fair. “And when the time comes for boys to enter the picture — and a best friend’s attention is split between them and another — it is their first great heartbreak. When I was 9, my best friend was 30-year-old ingenue Lara Flynn Boyle.”
“Much like the universe, Lara’s romance with my father began with a bang. One quiet summer night in 1999, the nascent couple was dressed for dinner, the engine of his Mercedes the only sound,” Lorraine recalled. “My father moved to make a left on Mulholland from Coldwater, just a quarter mile from our house when their car collided with another. When Dad finally came to, head dripping blood, he looked up to see Lara crawling out of the sunroof. She reportedly screamed, ‘I can’t be here!’ and abandoned the steaming hunk of metal like it was a dead horse.”
Lorraine further claimed in the essay that she didn’t learn about the car accident from a family member, but instead from “a nosy mother at school.”
“I’d seen my dad just a few days previously and he didn’t mention a car accident,” she wrote. “Not knowing the news would be picked up by the tabloids, he wanted to introduce Lara on his own terms.”
Jack and Boyle, who have a 33-year age gap, dated from 1999 to 2004. Eventually, he introduced the actress to his children. (Jack is a father of six, sharing Lorraine and son Ray with ex Rebecca Broussard. He also shares daughter Jennifer with Sandra Knight, son Caleb with Susan Anspach, daughter Honey with Winnie Hollman and daughter Tessa with Jennine Gourin.)
“I’ll never forget the first day Lara was introduced to us children. She came down the outdoor staircase to join us by the pool,” Lorraine said. “I remember the sun reflecting on the water, the sound of wind chimes in the trees. Most importantly, I remember what Lara wore — a thong bathing suit with flames licking up the crotch. We didn’t have to know she had been nominated for an Emmy that year for her work on The Practice for my brother and I to know we were in the presence of a powerful person.”
She added, “That day, I was too afraid to speak to her. Instead, I watched her surreptitiously from the shallow end, as she read a book on a plastic raft, the wind gently pushing her back and forth across the surface of the water. Finally, she had arrived, the answer to my prayers — the Mary Poppins of Mulholland Drive.”
Once Lorraine met Boyle, she said that she was captivated by the actress’ charm, confidence and compassion.
“With extrasensory intuition, she sensed I was a self-harmer and told me stories about the time she had to wear knee socks to hide her scratched-up shins,” Lorraine said. “Lara made me feel like my pain mattered. … I was a kid who felt, despite everything I had materially, there was something missing in my life. Lara did not belittle these feelings. She told all these stories with a cigarette and a smile because she was a survivor.”
With time, Lorraine said that she “grabbed onto [Boyle] like she was made of glue.”
“For my father, Lara acted as a bridge between him and his children. Suddenly, we were doing things we had never done before,” Lorraine added. “In Aspen, we went whitewater rafting down the Colorado River. We cackled wildly while playing Parcheesi. In one particularly traitorous game of Uno, my brother and I kamakazied ourselves so that while we wouldn’t win, my father wouldn’t either.”
Jack and Boyle eventually called it quits in 2004 and, as Lorraine wrote in her essay, she still has “no clue why.”
“I don’t know if he cried or if she cried, but I certainly did. I woke one snowy winter morning at our house in Aspen and she had just — vanished,” Lorraine remembered. “I’d known my father’s relationship with Lara couldn’t last forever, and yet when I was with her, I had no clue what I would do without her.”
According to Lorraine, the last words Boyle ever told her were, “I’ll always have you in my heart, baby.” Lorraine has not seen Boyle since her breakup with Jack.
“Football is awesome, it turns out,” Swift told TIME in a 2023 profile. “I’ve been missing out my whole life. … When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care.”
For Swift, that means attending home and away games all while slaying her iconic game-day style. She even traveled over 13 hours from Japan to make it to the 2024 Super Bowl after performing at one of her history-making Eras Tour concerts the night before.
At every Chiefs game she attended, Swift cheers on Kelce from a private suite. She’s often joined by their respective families and friends — and a slew of other Hollywood celebrities. Keep scrolling for their insights:
Making Up Handshakes
During an October 2023 game, Swift sat with quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, and her eldest two children. The two women made up a special handshake to celebrate every time the Chiefs scored a touchdown as seen in now-viral photos. (The Mahomeses share Sterling, Bronze and Golden, who were born in 2021, 2022 and 2025, respectively.)
“I need to talk to Travis because me and Travis don’t even have a handshake yet,” Patrick joked on Kansas City’s KCSP radio show later that month. “They’re ahead of the game on us. So we’re gonna have to get on the whiteboard, and we’re gonna figure out a handshake so that we can try to one-up theirs.”
Kelce and Aric Jones have been friends since childhood. Jones, along with pals like Harry Clark and Ross Travis, have unofficial standing invitations to Swift’s Arrowhead suite.
“Taylor’s great. Taylor’s her own woman. And like, if Taylor wants to participate with us on theme nights, of course, we welcome it,” Jones told Page Sixin October 2024. “But at the end of the day, just having her there and having her presence there is awesome. She’s there to cheer on her boyfriend and hang out with us and, to be quite honest, that’s enough.”
At a January 2025 playoff game, Jones and the rest of Kelce’s pals wore all black. Swift appeared to coordinate, opting for head-to-toe Chanel.
Keeping Up With In-Laws
Swift sat in a box with Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, and the retired Eagles center’s wife, Kylie Kelce, at a January 2024 playoff game in Buffalo, New York. During the game, Jason ended up going shirtless and jumping out of a window in order to greet fans.
“Tay said she absolutely loved you,” Travis told his sibling on their “New Heights” podcast days later.
Kylie, however, was less impressed by her spouse’s antics.
“I don’t think [Kylie] was happy about it, to be honest with you,” Jason quipped. “The moment we got into the suite, I said, ‘I’m taking my shirt off and I’m jumping out of the suite.’ And she said, ‘Jason, don’t you dare.’ I’m not asking for permission, I’m doing this.”
According to Jason, Kylie tried to encourage him to be on his “best behavior” the first time he met Swift.
“I was like, ‘Kylie, the first day I met you I was blacked-out drunk and fell asleep at a bar,’” he joked. “This is part of the Jason Kelce charm. I want to make my best first impression, this is my best chance. Set that bar nice and low.”
Travis shelled out upwards of $3 million for a suite at the 2024 Super Bowl at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium. In addition to friends and family, Swift brought along celebs like Blake Lively, Ice Spice, Keleigh Teller and Lana Del Rey.
“There was so much happening in the suite,” Jason said on “New Heights” afterward. “Turns out everybody wants to meet Taylor. [Shaquille O’Neal] came into the suite … I think it was my first really understanding of kinda some of the things she has to deal with.”
He added, “There were so many star-studded people there, where it’s like, ‘Dude, everybody wants to come see her, but the suite’s only so big.’ It was overwhelming, to be honest with you, it was very overwhelming.”
Jason and the brothers’ dad, Ed Kelce, were also excited to meet Sir Paul McCartney in the box.
Girl Gang
Swift has also bonded with fellow Chiefs partners Chariah Gordon and Sheawna Weathersby, who are in respective relationships with athletes Mecole Hardman Jr. and Chris Jones. The trio of women often share group pics from the suite via social media on game days.
“I call her my sis, that’s my sis,” Gordon gushed to Glamour in November 2024. “She’s just really a sweet, down-to-earth girl. I forgot that she was even Taylor Swift, that’s how she makes you feel. I wasn’t saying, ‘Oh my God, this is Taylor.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, this is one of my home girls from back home.’”
Impromptu Interview
After the Chiefs 2024 home opener that September, Swift partied with Gordon.
“This is an exclusive interview with Chariahafter the game. How are you feeling?” Swift asked in a now-viral social media video shared by Gordon herself.
Tennis pro Francis Tiafoe and his girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, watched a November 2024 game from Swift’s suite.
“I’m sitting there and I say it in real time [to] whoever I’m with, like, ‘I’m taking shots with Taylor Swift,’’’ Tiafoe recalled on “The Pivot” podcast in January 2025. “Granted, I’m … a Beyoncé guy, but at the moment, I was like, ‘Man, this is crazy.’”
He added, “She’s the biggest star out here and then, you know, Trav and [Patrick] Mahomes [are] like, ‘Yo, we got to have you in KC.’ Them saying that is wild to me and they rolled out the red carpet for me. It’s crazy ‘cause playing tennis and people want to reach out and hang out and actually do stuff. Those are the things [that] are why you do what you do.”
Dressed to Impress
Travis invited Jason’s former Eagles teammate Beau Allento a January 2025 game, where he crossed paths with Swift, her parents and WNBA star Caitlin Clark.
“[Taylor’s] cool, man. She led with a compliment,” Allen later recalled on the “Green Light with Chris Long” podcast. “She said I was funny and that she respected my commitment to, like, making a joke or getting a laugh or something like that. I was just like, ‘Oh, wow, I really wasn’t expecting a compliment out of you. Like, thank you.’”
The night ended with Travis giving Allen the Bottega Veneta jacket off his back when the latter complimented its suave style.
WWE alum Baron Corbin (real name Tom Pestock) revealed on a January 2025 episode of the “Insight With Chris Van Vliet” podcast that his pal Travis invited him to watch a Chiefs game in his suite. Corbin brought along his uncle and his brother.
“So, we went [and] they took us up to the suite, and then [either my uncle or my brother] was like, ‘I wonder if Taylor’s going to be here,’ and as they say it, she was [walking] into the room,” Corbin recalled. “My brother’s freaking a little bit and she walks right up to everybody, gives them a hug [and] gave us a hug like … you were instantly family.”
Watching the 2024 matchup also made Corbin feel like he was in a “fishbowl.”
“It’s just mobs of people taking selfies of Taylor and just her existing. I’ve never been around someone like that,” he said. “It’s a different magnitude. You felt like everyone in the stadium is staring at you because you’re standing behind her.”
Despite the pandemonium, Corbin noticed that Swift remained “super dope and super humble.”
“I don’t know who I’d be if it weren’t for my family and my friends who have become family, but I definitely had my ups and downs,” JoJo, 34, exclusively told Us Weekly on Thursday, January 23, while promoting her NGL EP. “I thought I would never be my parents, who I judged at a certain point pretty harshly for struggling with their own addictions.”
She added, “Then I found myself being like, ‘Oh, just because it doesn’t show up like this, I am acting like an addict in this way.’ I’m just doing things that are impacting my life and the lives of others, and I had to check myself many times.”
JoJo further explained, that after coming to the realization that addiction can manifest in various ways, she checks on herself “constantly” in order to be the healthiest version of herself.
“I think that there are tendencies that I have where I need to really be aware,” the singer told Us. “So, that’s why having different practices in place. I’m not sober, but [I go through] periods of [not drinking], like, I’m doing Dry January or I don’t drink while I’m on tour. I don’t like to overindulge in general, and I’m grateful for that. I’ve been on the other side of liking to be out of my mind. I don’t desire to be out of my mind anymore.”
She added, “I’m learning one day at a time.”
JoJo detailed her experiences with drinking in her 2024 memoir, Over the Influence. In the book, she revealed that her parents, who were addicts, met in Alcoholics Anonymous before their rocky relationship that ultimately ended in divorce. JoJo, meanwhile, revealed that she also struggled with alcohol abuse, in addition to what she said was an addiction to love, sex and validation.
“I was in a full-blown addiction to love and validation, sex and stimulation,” she wrote in her memoir, alleging that she once cheated on a past partner. “I was feeding my addiction and biding my time before telling my man that I was the worst person in the world. The sabotage switch flipped, and I responded to the athlete. I mean, at this point what was I if not a sucker for self-betrayal and overindulgence? Somehow, I convinced myself it didn’t matter.”
While speaking with Us, JoJo noted that she doesn’t “really have regrets” about getting so candid and vulnerable in Over the Influence.
“It is my story and, look, if I had written it a year from now or five years from now, would I tell different stories? Probably, [or] in a different way,” she said on Thursday. “But this is what the story was.”
JoJo has since put her past struggles behind her in order to be able to accept a positive, healthy relationship with a new partner.
“That’s what my song ‘Ready to Love’ is about. I was like, ‘I want to make space in my life for someone who’s ready to love and ready to be vulnerable and accountable and have fun and grow together and all those things,’” JoJo stated. “I do think that it has taken me a long time to know myself enough to say yes to the things that really feel like a yes and no to the things and be able to leave things that aren’t right for me and also show up, but be a safe space for somebody [and] be a safe space for myself first and foremost.”
She added, “I do think that it’s just a beautiful season in my life where I feel more present and ready for the things that are meant for me.”
“Ready for Love” is one of the songs on JoJo’s EP NGL, which dropped on Friday, January 24.
“I can’t believe it’s been four years since I’ve put out my other EP and it just means it’s about ownership and empowerment,” JoJo told Us. “This is my first independent release and this album was so about being single and moving to a new city and feeling strong and really feeling more comfortable and confident in my own skin than I ever had before.”
Bill Gates is looking back on his divorce from Melinda Gates after more than two decades together.
“That was the mistake I most regret,” Bill, 69, told The Times of Londonof his previous marriagein a profile published on Saturday, January 25, adding that, despite his disappointment, he feels “more cheerful now.”
Bill and Melinda, 60, confirmed their separation in May 2021 after 27 years of marriage. The pair, who tied the knot in 1994, share three children: Jennifer, Rory and Phoebe.
Speaking to The Times, Bill noted that he initially “absolutely” wanted to replicate his parents’ 45-year union with Melinda.
“I encouraged Melinda to be a little calmer than my mother was, but we were both quite driven,” he told the outlet. “I spent more time with the kids than my dad did, but the ratio was still 10:1, with Melinda doing most things for the kids. We had a great time.”
The tech mogul added, “There is a certain wonderfulness to spending your entire adult life with one person because of the memories and depth of things you have done and having kids together. When Melinda and I met, I was fairly successful but not ridiculously successful — that came during the time that we were together. So, she saw me through a lot.”
Bill and Melinda met in 1987 when she started working for his Microsoft corporation. After tying the knot, the former couple founded a joint eponymous nonprofit. Melinda left the organization after the pair’s divorce.
“When we got divorced it was tough and then she made the decision to leave the foundation — I was disappointed that she took the option to go off,” Bill recalled to The Times.
He further cites the divorce — which was settled in August 2021 — as one of his biggest adult failures.
“You would have to put that at the top of the list,” Bill said of his list of shortcomings. “There are others but none that matter. The divorce thing was miserable for me and Melinda for at least two years.”
Since their split, Bill and Melinda have since put aside any personal issues they may have in order to peacefully coparent their now-adult kids.
“Melinda and I still see each other — we have three kids and two grandchildren so there are family events,” Bill noted to the U.K. newspaper. “The kids are doing well. They have good values.”
Melinda has previously been outspoken about healing from the breakup.
“It’s unbelievably painful, in innumerable ways, but I had the privacy to get through it,” she told Fortunein October 2022. “I also kept working with the person I was moving away from, and I need to show up and be my best self every single day. So even though I might be crying at 9 a.m. and then have to be on a videoconference at 10 a.m. with the person I’m leaving, I have to show up and be my best. And I learned as a leader that I could do it.”
Hannah Brown and her fiancé, Adam Woolard, are no longer living in the same house after re-examining their relationship goals.
“We, kind of, went on a journey together,” Brown, 30, said in a Thursday, January 23, Instagram Story video. “I’ve been a believer, but I think I was really questioning a lot about my faith and in God and my direction. Adam had been searching for a while but didn’t have that.”
Woolard, who proposed to the former Bachelorette in August 2023, ultimately decided to get baptized before they both decided to “get so involved in [their] church and really go all-in.”
“We really had to get honest with like, ‘OK, we say we want to go all in with our relationship, like be completely on fire for God, but what are areas that we’re kind of just like holding back?’” Brown said. “There were a few. I mean, finances were hard for me and our just relationship in general could be tough when it comes to believing and honoring what God has for marriage — and that being living together.”
She continued, “We have lived together [since] eight months into our relationship and we decided to just trust God and we are not living in this house together until we get married this summer. It was obviously a big decision and very different and new, but we both separately were having these thoughts in our prayer and just feeling the Lord to call us to do this.”
According to Brown, their relationship has been “really great” since the pair relocated to separate residences.
“I felt the most connected to Adam that I ever had because we are so intentional about the time that we have together,” she gushed. “[I’m] excited for what God has for our marriage. I really am.”
Brown and Woolard started dating in 2021, three years before getting engaged. Prior to their engagement, they moved from Los Angeles to Nashville. The duo purchased their first home together in October 2024.
“We’re officially homeowners! Having a house to make a home has been a life dream of mine,” Brown wrote via Instagram at the time. “I am so honored to be able to create spaces that will hold precious memories and to live the big and small life moments between the walls. This house is so sweet already, but to make this OUR family home will be the greatest privilege.”
Just before buying their dream property, Brown told Us Weeklythat wedding planning was “on the back burner for a while.”
“There’s been a lot going on,” she exclusively told Us in July 2024. “Right now [I’m] trying to work on wedding planning. I’m excited.”
Now that Brown and Woolard have presumably started preparing for their special day, they are also figuring out what their marriage will look like after walking down the aisle.
“A lot of you guys were asking about the little value session that Adam and I did. Our therapist kind of created this for us and also with her other clients,” Brown added on Thursday. “It’s something that can definitely be a pain point at sometimes. … One thing that [our therapist] Jordan said to us, ‘If you don’t declare your values, your values will still choose you.’ We’re all living a certain way and sometimes there are values we say we want to live, but don’t align with the ones we are living out. And so, I wanted to get really honest with that with ourselves.”
Brown and Woolard were then able to get “clarity on what it is that [they] care about” and figure out how to adapt their lives around those perspectives.
“It was really impactful for us and it’s still something that we’re learning more about,” she added. “I really am just, like, so proud of Adam and I because people that started dating almost four years ago are not the same people now.”
Justin Baldoni’s mother, Sharon Baldoni, reflected on the importance and perseverance of “justice and truth” on her son’s birthday in light of his ongoing legal drama with actress and It Ends With Us costar Blake Lively.
“Happy Birthday Justin ~ remembering a wonderful moment after the final ending of Jane The Virgin,” Sharon wrote via Instagram on Friday, January 24, sharing set photos from Justin’s tenure on The CW telenovela. “[It was] a moment where joy and love permeated the set, where friendships and family were born and kindness and integrity permeated the hearts of all the actors and crew, where sadness only entered because it was the final scene of a wonderful journey ~ and the beginning of the rest of our lives.”
According to Sharon, the 2019 series finale of Jane The Virginwas marked by a “happy, loving and generous memory with hearts exploding with possibilities.”
“Life has its moments and also its surprises — as you keep your integrity through it all justice and truth will shine today and into eternity,” Sharon concluded. “I love you more than you will ever know! Happy Birthday, my beautiful boy! May God continue to bless you in truth.”
Justin, who turned 41 on Friday, is currently in the middle of a contentious and very public legal battle against It Ends With Us costar Blake Lively. After the film was released in August 2024, Lively, 37, sued Justin for alleged sexual harassment, claiming the actor-director fostered a “hostile work environment.” She also claimed that Justin attempted to launch a concentrated PR campaign to ruin her reputation.
Justin vehemently denied the accusations before filing a $400 million suit of his own against Lively. In the court documents obtained by Us Weekly earlier this month, Justin’s legal team claimed that Lively was “determined to make [Justin] the real-life villain in her story” to mask her alleged “tone-deaf” promotion of the film. (The two actors played a couple in an abusive marriage in It Ends With Us, which Justin also directed.)
Lively rebuked the accusations via a spokesperson.
“This latest lawsuit from Justin Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios and its associates is another chapter in the abuser playbook. This is an age-old story: A woman speaks up with concrete evidence of sexual harassment and retaliation and the abuser attempts to turn the tables on the victim,” Lively’s lawyers told Us in a statement earlier this month. “This is what experts call DARVO. Deny. Attack. Reverse Victim Offender. Wayfarer has opted to use the resources of its billionaire co-founder to issue media statements, launch meritless lawsuits, and threaten litigation to overwhelm the public’s ability to understand that what they are doing is retaliation against sexual harassment allegations.”
Justin, meanwhile, is focusing on his family in light of the scandal.
“We’re grateful to be with the family, man,” he told photographers on January 17 in footage obtained by TMZ. “We have amazing friends and family and faith.”
“It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a true ATL legend, Anthony Platt better known as DJ Unk,” his former record label wrote in a Friday, January 24, Instagram statement. “On behalf of Big Oomp Records and the BOR Family, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the countless fans who were touched by his artistry and spirit.”
The statement continued, “DJ Unk was not just a legendary DJ, rapper and producer, but a true cornerstone of our label and the imprint that he left globally will be cherished forever. Hit songs such as ‘Walk It Out’ and ‘2 Step’ have left an indelible mark on the industry, and his legacy will continue to inspire artists, DJs, and fans alike for years to come. His energy, creativity, and commitment to the craft will never be forgotten.”
Big Oomp Records further asked followers to “keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
“We also want to thank everyone who has supported DJ Unk and the Oomp Camp over the years,” the social media note concluded. “Rest in peace, Unk. You will forever be missed. .”
A cause of death has not been publicly revealed. DJ Ink is survived by his wife, Sherkita Long-Platt, and their children.
“Please respect me and my family,” Long-Platt wrote via Facebook on Friday. “I just lost my husband and my kids just lost their father. Our life will never be the same. I LOVE YOU ANTHONY FOREVER.”
DJ Unk rose to fame in 2000 when he signed with Big Oomp Records, later releasing his debut album Beat’n Down Yo Block! six years later. “Walk It Out” soon became a runaway hit, prompting a remix with André 3000 and Jim Jones.
One year after releasing his sophomore album, DJ Unk suffered a heart attack in 2009. He blamed the health scare on frequent touring, poor eating habits and drinking alcohol.
“It comes from not exercising, from not eating right. Basically man, I work hard every day,” he told XXL Magazine in 2010. Everything I do every day I try to make something happen in my household. I constantly be on the go, I constantly be on airplanes, in different weather and you know it just took a toll on me. It was stress.”
DJ Unk further told the outlet that he “calmed down” on both drinking and smoking after the cardiac incident.
“I just don’t go ham like I did before; everything was so fast,” he added at the time. “Instead of praying once like before, I go twice a day.”
Christina Haack has legally changed her last name back to her roots amid her ongoing divorce from Joshua Hall.
“Officially a Haack ,” the Flip Off star, 41, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Friday, January 24, sharing the official name-change paperwork from the Social Security Administration.
She added, “Identifying as only married twice. Time to update the Wikipedia.”
Haack is currently navigating a divorce from third husband Hall, 44. After they got married in April 2022, she changed her surname to his moniker.
Haack was previously married to Flip or Flop costar Tarek El Moussa from 2006 to 2016 and British TV presenter Ant Anstead from 2018 to 2020. (Haack and El Moussa, 43, share children Taylor and Brayden, while she coparents son Hudson with Anstead, 45.)
After two years of marriage to Hall, Haack filed for divorce in July 2024. The proceedings are still ongoing.
“[We’re] not even close,” Haack said on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live earlier this month. “We’re going to be going to trial, I hear. It’s going to be fun. Can’t wait.”
According to the HGTV star, Hall allegedly “doesn’t want to do mediation” to settle the proceedings.
“[The court hasn’t] ordered me yet but he’s been asking me [for money],” Haack claimed to radio host Jeff Lewis. “I’ve already had to give a little something, but then he bought a Bentley. I gave him money to live and he bought a Bentley, but he also doesn’t have a job.”
Hall has not publicly responded to Haack’s accusations.
“Hall is not available for comment, as he’s continuing to live his life in the present and celebrating his beautiful new girlfriend’s birthday,” his spokesperson told Us, referring to Nashville-based model Stephanie Gabrys. “With that said, it’s sad Christina must resort to low blows about her ex Josh to promote her new show. She should focus on her new boyfriend and stop talking about Josh. As the great Mariah Carey once sang, ‘Why you so obsessed with me?’ We wish Christina the best.”
Haack recently started seeingbusinessman Christopher LaRocca. She also remains open to the possibility of finding The One.
“I’ll always love love,” Haack told Us in her cover story earlier this month. “I probably will [get married again] eventually. But, not anytime soon.”
Haack further told Us that she would need to “be engaged for a minimum of, like, five years” before walking down the aisle for a fourth time.
Justin Baldonicelebrated his 41st birthday with his family by his side amid ongoing legal drama.
“Happy birthday, my love,” the actor’s wife, Emily Baldoni, wrote via Instagram on Friday, January 24. “Celebrating the man, husband and father that you are. I’d choose you again and again.”
Emily, 40, also uploaded a photo of the couple, who have been married since 2013, kissing in front of a body of water. In the snap, their daughter Maiya, 9, hugged their waists while their son Maxwell, 7, was perched on Justin’s shoulders.
Justin turned 41 on Friday, which his other relatives celebrated with their own social media tributes.
“Happy Birthday Justin ~ remembering a wonderful moment after the final ending of Jane The Virgin — a moment where joy and love permeated the set, where friendships and family were born and kindness and integrity permeated the hearts of all the actors and crew, where sadness only entered because it was the final scene of a wonderful journey, and the beginning of the rest of our lives,” Justin’s mom, Sharon Baldoni, wrote in her own Instagram tribute. “A happy loving and generous memory with hearts exploding with possibilities. Life has its moments and, also, its surprises — as you keep your integrity through it all. Justice and truth will shine today and into eternity.”
She added, “I love you more than you will ever know! Happy Birthday my beautiful boy! May God continue to bless you in truth.”
Justin is currently embroiled in a legal battle surrounding his experience on 2024’s It Ends With Us. His costar Blake Livelyfiled a lawsuit last month, accusing Justin of sexual harassment and attempting to ruin her reputation. Justin and Lively, 37, starred as a couple in an abusive relationship in the Colleen Hoover film adaptation, which Justin also directed.
Justin vehemently denied Lively’s accusations before filing a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and her team. In the court documents, obtained by Us Weekly earlier this month, Baldoni’s legal team claimed that Lively was “determined to make Baldoni the real-life villain in her story” to mask her alleged “tone-deaf” promotion of the film.
Lively denied his claims through a spokesperson.
“This latest lawsuit from Justin Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios and its associates is another chapter in the abuser playbook. This is an age-old story: A woman speaks up with concrete evidence of sexual harassment and retaliation and the abuser attempts to turn the tables on the victim,” Lively’s lawyers told Us in a statement. “This is what experts call DARVO. Wayfarer has opted to use the resources of its billionaire co-founder to issue media statements, launch meritless lawsuits, and threaten litigation to overwhelm the public’s ability to understand that what they are doing is retaliation against sexual harassment allegations.”
Justin, meanwhile, has since been prioritizing his family amid the legal battle.
“We’re grateful to be with the family, man,” he told photographers on January 17 in footage obtained by TMZ. “We have amazing friends and family and faith.”
Billy Ray Cyrus’ son Braison Cyrus claimed that the singer is on the mend after a hospital stay last year.
“I’ve spent the last year getting to know my dad better than I ever have,” Braison, 30, wrote via Instagram Stories on Friday, January 24. “After he spent a week in the hospital in the fall, I’m grateful that my dad is happy, healthy and ready to make this record.”
Billy Ray, 63, and his youngest son confirmed earlier on Friday that they’d be joining forces for the Grammy winner’s next album. Braison, whom Billy Ray shares with ex-wife Tish Cyrus, will produce the record.
“It’s a rare opportunity to make something this special and tell my dad’s story through music,” Braison added in his social media note. “Can’t wait to finally share it.”
It is not known why Billy Ray was hospitalized last year. His son Trace Cyrus, Tish’s child from a past relationship whom the musician later adopted, claimed earlier this week that Billy Ray was not “healthy.” In an emotional Instagram letter, Trace, 35, offered to help his dad navigate his apparent struggles after the singer’s performance at a presidential inaugural ball.
While Billy Ray did not comment on Trace’s claims, the former Metro Station frontman did react to Braison’s notion that their father is doing well.
“Birds of a feather, flock together,” Trace wrote via his Instagram Stories on Friday, insinuating that Braison might be struggling, as well. “This is what healthy looks like. Braison, I can help you too. Damn, man up boys.”
Billy Ray was married to Tish, 57, from 1992 to 2022. Together, they share daughters Miley Cyrus and Noah Cyrus, as well as son Braison. Billy Ray also adopted Trace and his older sister, Brandi Cyrus, from Tish’s past relationship. He is also the father to son Christopher Cody Cyrus, whom he shares with ex Kristin Luckey.
In Trace’s Wednesday, January 22, social media post, he claimed that most of his siblings were not in touch with Billy Ray.
“Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away,” Trace wrote in part. “Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow, just like me, she still idolizes you though. We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns.”
Trace’s sisters have yet to publicly address their relationship status with Billy Ray. According to Trace, it has also been “a few months” since he visited Miley, 31, and the Los Angeles cohort of the family.
“Was going to go to LA this month, but then the fires started,” Trace added in another Instagram Story post on Friday, referring to the ongoing wildfires in the city. “Going out to see my family next month for my birthday.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Billy Ray and Braison for comment.
Octomom Nadya Suleman and her 14 children are gearing up to share their story in the new Lifetime docuseries, Confessions of Octomom.
“Today, my family and I are taking our life back,” Suleman, 49, told People in an interview published on Friday, January 24. “I’ve been saying, I want to keep them safe and protect my kids, and well, they’re older now. They’re turning 16 and making the decision to really do this.”
“My kids are going to share for the first time. Also, my older kids are speaking in the public eye and they did not want to,” she explained to the outlet. “And actually, I didn’t even want [to speak out] to be honest.”
In addition to a docuseries starring the Sulemans, Lifetime will also premiere a sensationalized made-for-TV movie about the brood, titled I Was Octomom, with Kristen Lee Gutoskie portraying the matriarch.
“The movie follows my journey, starting with my decision to have one more IVF procedure to try to complete my family of six,” Suleman told People. “I wanted only one more, to becoming a single mom of 14 and all the trials and tribulations, the challenges and struggles, what I had to do to continue to fight for my family.”
Suleman welcomed her octuplets — Noah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Nariyah, Jonah, Makai, Josiah and Jeremiah — in 2009 via IVF. Two years later, the California Medical Board learned that her fertility doctor had allegedly transferred 12 embryos into Suleman’s uterus instead of the six she reportedly requested. His medical license was revoked in 2011.
As Suleman continued to raise her children, her large family size often sparked fan criticism.
“I’m just very excited,” Nariyah, 15, told People of participating in the documentary. “Our mom would finally be able to say her side of the story because I feel like it was very unfair how she was terrorized and hated for just being a mother. And she had to sacrifice so much just for her children.”
Suleman, meanwhile, hopes Lifetime’s platform will demonstrate that she’s not a “compartmentalized caricature” of a mother to multiples.
“The main reason for me in sharing my true story [is] my perspective is to help people, to help women in particular who are struggling with one child or none,” Suleman said. “Maybe [the doc will] inspire them to pull out the strengths inside that they didn’t know they had to progress forward, to keep progressing in their life.”
I Was Octomom premieres Saturday, March 8, on Lifetime and Confessions of Octomom debuts on the network Monday, March 10.
