Justin Baldoni has the rights to Hoover’s It Starts With Us — the 2022 sequel to her 2016 novel It Ends With Us — but it seems the actor might not be on board to direct a second film in this movie universe.
“I think there are better people for that one,” he told Entertainment Tonight on August 6, 2024, when asked about the possibility of stepping behind the camera for a sequel. “I think Blake Lively is ready to direct. That’s what I think.”
His comment made fans wonder if there was bad blood between Baldoni and Lively on set. Us Weekly has since confirmed that there was an intense “creative struggle” between the two. “[Justin] was made to feel that his vision wasn’t as important as Blake’s, and it stifled the creativity on set,” a source told Us exclusively earlier this month. (Baldoni directed and starred as Ryle Kincaid in the film while Lively executive produced the movie and starred as Lily Bloom.)
TMZ reported in December 2024 that Lively sued Baldoni for sexual harassment, claiming his behavior during filming caused “severe emotional distress.” His lawyer, Bryan Freedman, said in a statement to Us Weekly that the allegations were “completely false, outrageous and intentionally salacious,” arguing Lively was attempting to “fix her negative reputation.” Us reached out to Lively’s rep for comment at the time.
It Ends With Us told the story of flower shop owner Lily who finds herself in an abusive relationship with Ryle, a neurosurgeon with a dark past. When the homeless man from Lily’s youth, named Atlas (Brandon Sklenar), resurfaces, it further throws a wrench in her relationship with Ryle.
The second book is a continuation of Lily’s story — but this time with Atlas.

How Does ‘It Ends With Us’ End?
The movie and book come to an end with Lily giving birth to her and Ryle’s daughter, Emerson, and asking him for a divorce. In a flash forward that leads into the sequel, Lily meets up with Atlas.
What Is ‘It Stars With Us’ About?
The second book takes place nearly one year after It Ends With Us‘ conclusion. Lily is now the mother of a 1-year-old daughter and is trying to figure out a copacetic coparenting relationship with Ryle. Eventually, she and Atlas reconnect romantically.
Who Owns the Rights to ‘It Starts With Us’?
Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios owns the rights to the second book.
“We have the option on it,” Baldoni told Variety in July 2024: “I haven’t even begun to think that far ahead. I’m trying to stay in the present as much as I can.”
Will ‘It Starts With Us’ Become a Movie?
Screenwriter Christy Hall played coy during an August 2024 interview with Business Insider.
“Everyone wants to be in business with Colleen so I would be interested to know who controls the rights to all of her materials at this point because I would be shocked if she’s not set all over town,” Hall said, noting that she’d “happily adapt” anything with Hoover.
Will Baldoni Direct ‘It Starts With Us’?
Baldoni made it clear that he has no plans to direct a possible sequel — or pull double duty again.
“We’re gonna take a vacation after this,” he told ET earlier this month.
What Are Baldoni’s Upcoming Projects?
Baldoni is set to executive produceScarlett Johansson’s directorial debut, Eleanor the Great, Black Is Beautiful: The Kwame Brathwaite Story and Code 3.
Every year more celebrities are getting book deals (even if no one asked for them) and the anecdotes included on page keep getting juicer — especially when other notable names are concerned.
2024 brought Us memoirs from stars all across the board, including A-listers like Whoopi Goldberg and Cher. However, reality TV stars turned authors took over with Selling Sunset’s Mary Bonnet and The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Heather Gay spilling the tea about their respective pasts and shows.
Meanwhile, Bethanny Joy Lenz’s Dinner for Vampires took Us through her time in the Big House Family cult, while the late Lisa Marie Presley (with the help of her daughter Riley Keough) put her entire life on the table.
Keep scrolling to see which celebrity memoirs from 2024 had the wildest name drops:
Crystal Hefner’s Relationship With Jordan McGraw
Crystal’s Only Say Good Things kicked off the year strong with its January release. Aside from her tales about Hugh Hefner and the Playboy Mansion, she penned a shocking story about … Jordan McGraw. (Yes, Dr. Phil McGraw’s singing son who opened for the Jonas Brothers on multiple tours.)
After initially calling off her engagement to Hugh, she found her “safe haven” in McGraw. “I ran straight to Jordan and hid from it all,” she wrote, noting that their relationship “started to sour pretty quickly” after it started.
Rebel Wilson’s Confession About Sacha Baron Cohen
Wilson released her book, titled Rebel Rising, in April and claimed one of her past costars was a “massive a—–e” when they worked together. The actress later revealed that she was referring to Cohen on the 2016 movie The Brothers Grimsby movie set.
Goldberg struck up a friendship with The Godfather star prior to his 2004 death after he essentially broke into her house to play the piano, she recalled in Bits and Pieces, which was released in May.
How Woody Harrelson Saved Darius Rucker’s Life
Rucker’s Life’s Too Short memoir — which was released in May — opened with the country singer recalling how Harrelson saved his life. While visiting the actor in Hawaii, and after a “treacherous 25-minute descent,” Harrelson and Rucker went swimming. The Hootie and the Blowfish singer then got pulled underwater by a rip current, he wrote.
“I fight and flail for I have no idea how long — ten minutes, fifteen — and then I hear a voice. Woody,” Rucker wrote. “I can’t see him, but I hear him. He’s not far. … All I know for sure is that somehow Woody pulls me out of the current.”
Mary Bonnett Wearing Idina Menzel’s Shoes
The Selling Sunset star detailed her fast friendship with Netflix costar Amanza Smithin the September bookSelling Sunshine. Smith was dating Taye Diggs at the time, and Bonnet had the opportunity to go through his ex-wife, Idina Menzel’s closet.
“Idina had left a bunch of stuff behind that she was planning to donate to charity, and I didn’t have any nice shoes with me,” Bonnet wrote.
Wilmer Valderrama’s A-List Plane Incident
Valderrama’s An American Story memoir, released in September, detailed a near-plane crash with Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson and Colin Hanks. The actors thought “our plane is going down” while flying in a storm following the Super Bowl in 2013.
“The plane is pitching up, down, side to side,” Valderrama wrote. “I’m feeling lightheaded. It’s getting hard to breathe. Oxygen masks drop from the ceiling, and I wonder if they dropped because the turbulence shook them loose or if it’s something else.”
Connie Chung Recalls Barbara Walters and Diane Sawyer’s Feud
When Chung worked as an ABC News reporter, she had a firsthand experience of what she called the “same-sex battle” between Walters and Sawyer.
“Instead of battling men, I found myself squeezed between two people I thought should have been allies,” Chung wrote in her Connie: A Memoir book, released in September. “I’d foolishly believed the women would be my comrades.”
JoJo’s Galentine’s With Taylor Swift — and How Selena Gomez Was Involved
The singer recalled spending Galentine’s Day at the “sweet and complimentary” Swift’s house in her Over the Influence memoir, released in September. She was invited into the singer’s inner circle because of a close-knit friendship with Gomez.
Elsewhere in the book, JoJo recalled feeling “the occasional twinge of pain or jealousy” during her friendship with Gomez.
Eric Roberts’ Apology to Sister Julia Roberts
Eric previously took ownership for his sister Julia’s blockbuster acting career. When releasing his Runaway Train memoir in September, the actor apologized for the “asinine” comments he made.
“Now one of the things I’d like to apologize for in this book is for publicly saying on more than one occasion, ‘If it wasn’t for me, there would be no Julia Roberts,’” he wrote. “That’s not only unfortunate, but it’s also untrue. And I hope Julie will accept this more public apology.”
Lisa Marie Presley Taking Michael Jackson’s Virginity
The late Presley devoted an entire chapter in her From Here to the Great Unknown memoir, released in October, about her brief marriage to Jackson. When they first got together in 1994, Jackson was 35 and told Presley he was “still a virgin” before noting that “the physical stuff started happening.”
Bethanny Joy Lenz Has a Moment With Katharine McPhee
The expected cast of characters (her One Tree Hill costars) appeared in Lenz’s October memoirDinner With Vampires, with an unexpected cameo at the end. The actress recalled crossing paths with McPhee — and having a hilarious interaction — years after escaping The Big House Family cult. At the time, Lenz was telling her friend that she left the church as McPhee listened.
“Kat was bewildered. She put her hand on my arm. ‘Wait, you were in a cult?’” Lenz wrote. “‘Yeah,’ I said. ‘Bible study went sideways.’”
Tim Matheson’s Call With Rob Lowe
Matheson’s book Damn Glad to Meet You was released in November. He joked about former costar Lowe asking for his nanny’s number while they worked together on The West Wing. Matheson quipped that Lowe subsequently “stole” her.
Jaleel White’s Nearly-Naked Moment With Magic Johnson
White, of Family Matters fame, reflecting on being a child star in the November Growing Up Urkel book. The actor crossed paths with Johnson in a locker room and joked that the NBA star was “barely holding on” a towel.
“I was trying to keep my eyes to myself, but I was like, ‘Wow.’ I just never imagined I would get this unfiltered view of Magic’s johnson,” he wrote.
Cher Has an Encounter With … Everyone
The first part of Cher’s self-titled memoir, released in November, had tons of celebrity name-drops — but a few stood out among the rest. The singer recalled hanging out with Liza Minelli as a child, and subsequently meeting her mom Judy Garland.
“We did as we were told, and when we sat on the front steps Liza spontaneously burst into song with ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow.’ I remember thinking that was strange, as I’d never been around a kid who just burst into song like that, even though she was pretty darn good,” Cher wrote. “It was only later that I realized she was Liza Minnelli and that the woman on the stairs was Judy Garland. Now I realize she probably wasn’t drinking juice.”
Elsewhere in the book, she recalled a moment with Warren Beatty. The actor nearly crashed into her while driving and when Cher got out to yell at him, she recognized Beatty.
“He showed me inside, fixed us some cheese and crackers, then leaned in and kissed me,” Cher wrote. “The two of us went swimming, with me in Natalie Wood’s bathing suit, and we had a great time.”
Heather Gay Raises Eyebrows With Story About Monica Garcia
Gay’s Good Time Girl memoir, released in December, included an accusation that formerReal Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah’s husband, Sharrieff Shah, tried to kiss Garcia.
Garcia subsequently denied the allegation in a statement to Us.
The Talk hosts reflected on their “shenanigans” — or lack thereof — over the years, including favorite guests and memorable moments.
“There [are] so many great shows that we have so many memories,” Natalie Morales told Us Weekly exclusively before the show’s series finale, naming the “dynamic” Kate Biberdorf (otherwise known as Kate the Chemist) as one of her favorite guests.
Morales, 52, is gearing up for the final episode of The Talk, along with costars Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood. Before saying goodbye to the show as a whole, the CBS stars took a walk down memory lane and name-dropped some of their favorite famous guests with Us.
Morales also recalled Bryan Cranston being “hilarious” — even though he capped her cheap.
“He called me cheap because you called me cheap!” she said, referring to O’Connell, 50. “We were talking about nowadays, they put the iPad in front of you and they hover over you to see how much you’re gonna tip! … Jerry started calling me cheap through the commercial break, they come back out, and Bryan Cranston goes, ‘Oh, cheap Natalie!’ and it kept going for 2 segments with him calling me that.”
Kloots, 42, recalled it being “really funny” before naming Mark McGrath as one of her favorite guests.
“I had a picture of him on my planner in high school and I confessed to him on air, like, you were my high school crush,” she gushed. “Also, Zack Morris [Mark-Paul Gosselaar] when he was on our show.”
She said it was “so funny” to meet people that she loved in high school.
“I didn’t miss a Saturday morning of Saved by the Bell. Same with Tiffani Thiessen when she was here,” Kloots added. “It’s like these childhood icons and you’re like, ‘I get to meet them!’ It’s so wild.”
Underwood, 61, recalled the episode when Kloots danced with Tony Danza.
“That was a good one,” Kloots continued. “Again, I grew up watching Who’s the Boss.”
O’Connell made it clear that there were “no shenanigans” going down on set.
“I don’t want to start any rumors, but I had a very big crush on Deborah Norville for many years, and when Deborah Norville came on the show, I kept it classy,” he joked. “Obviously, HR is always lurking and stuff, but that was very exciting.”
Once O’Connell dished about his crush, Morales was quick to share her own interaction.
“Well, for confessing crushes, Rob Lowe, and he’s been on,” Morales added. “Every time he comes on, he is so much fun.”
O’Connell responded, “I was very appropriate with Deborah Norville. Natalie was not very appropriate with Rob Lowe.”
The Talk airs on CBS weekdays at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT with the final episode scheduled for Friday, December 20.
“There was an investigation, but they found nothing,” a source close to the situation told Us. “It was inconclusive, so nothing happened.”
On Wednesday, December 18, Page Six was first to report that Bravo previously investigated an allegation that Kennedy, 32, was violent toward women. (Us has reached out to Bravo for comment.)
News broke on December 12 that Kennedy had been arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence two days prior following an alleged argument with an unidentified woman. An eyewitness called the police after allegedly seeing Kennedy grab her arm.
A separate source told Us that the arrest was based on “a complete misunderstanding.” Kennedy was “arguing” with his girlfriend, Ally Lewber, when “a neighbor was outside and heard them fighting and called the police.”
“We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the allegations levied by the Burbank Police Department against James,” the December 13 statement read. “We understand that there were no injuries and we are hoping that, after careful review, the city’s attorneys will decide not to file formal charges.”
In the days that followed the incident, Lewber’s parents “have come into town and they have gotten an Airbnb and have taken her there,” a third source told Us, noting that the couple “are having some distance but it’s not over.”
The insider went on to say that Lewber’s parents want to take her back to Ohio “where she was always planning on spending the holidays.” Kennedy, for his part, “has no plans to change any of his schedule of [DJ] gigs” the same source said.
In the aftermath of his arrest, Kennedy said that he’s keeping his sobriety top of mind.
“I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life,” the Bravo star shared via Instagram Stories on December 17. “I am taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones.”
He added, “Navigating challenging moments is not easy but I am determined to learn, grow and move forward with the incredible support system around me.”
King Charles III’s Christmas lunch had fellow royal family members in attendance, while others skipped the pre-holiday festivities.
Charles, 76, hosted a lunch at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, December 19, which he attended alongside wife Queen Camilla. Photos showed various members of the royal family in cars on their way to the event. Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, were in attendance alongside Princess Anne and her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence.
While a pregnant Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were spotted heading to the palace on Thursday with their husbands — Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Jack Brooksbank, respectively — their parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, were noticeably missing from the day’s events. (It was previously reported that the sisters would skip out on the royal family’s Christmas celebration at Sandringham this year in favor of spending the holidays with their respective in-laws.)
Andrew’s absence from the lunch hosted by his brother comes after allegations that he was connected to a businessman who had been accused of being a Chinese spy. The alleged spy, referred to as H6, was banned from the U.K. in 2023 following security court proceedings.
It was alleged that H6 tried to gain Andrew’s influence and was invited to his 2020 birthday party. The Duke of York, 64, claimed that he had “ceased all contact” with the alleged spy in a statement to the BBC on December 14. This team stated that Andrew crossed paths with the man “through official channels,” stating that “nothing of a sensitive nature [was] ever discussed.” (Buckingham Palace declined to comment since Andrew is not a current working royal.)
Also absent at the Thursday luncheon was Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton. The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their three kids — George, 11, Charlotte, 9, and Louis, 6 — have already traveled to Norfolk, England where they plan to spend Christmas at the Sandringham Estate, multiple outlets reported. People, specifically, said on Thursday that they never had plans to attend the lunch.
“This past year has been one of the most challenging yet for [them],” royal expert Sharon Carpenter shared in Us Weekly’s cover story earlier this month, referring to Kate’s cancer battle. “You can only imagine the relief and gratitude they must be feeling.”
Carpenter continued: “Kate is genuinely looking forward to joining the royal family at Sandringham for Christmas. The holidays will no doubt be a chance for the entire family to give thanks.”
Lili Reinhart and Jack Martin seem to be living their best life after taking things public.
The pair first sparked romance rumors in April 2023 when Reinhart was spotted kissing Martin outside of Los Angeles International Airport, according to photos published by Page Six at the time.
One month prior, Reinhart’s ex and former Riverdale costar Cole Sprouse was a guest on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast where he smoked a cigarette for most of the appearance. Martin subsequently mocked Sprouse in a parody video where he had two cigarettes in his mouth and a third behind his ear while pretending to be the “third Sprouse brother” who was “finally speaking out.”
Fans were quick to point out the similarities between Reinhart’s current and past beau — even referring to Martin as Sprouse’s lookalike.
“[The split was like a] black tunnel [that] was never going to end,” Reinhart recalled to Elle at the time. “I couldn’t see the light. I was like, ‘I feel like I’m dying.’ … I’ve seen a lot of people when it comes to heartache and grief and breakups, and they try to get that void filled with sex, with coke, with food, with drinking, [but] the void is still there. I took the road less traveled and just dealt with my s—t. I had to face my own pain head-on.”
Following her and Sprouse’s split, Reinhart waited to go Instagram official with Martin until August 2023 calling the comedian “my cowboy” and sharing pictures of them together for his birthday.
“I’m so grateful for the light you’ve brought into my life,” Reinhart gushed via Instagram Stories at the time.

“Kyle and Mauricio have been separated for a while, but are still currently living together,” a source revealed at the time, revealing that they “are amicable while they figure out the next steps.”
The Bravo stars, who’ve given a look inside their marriage since they joined the RHOBH in 2010, tied the knot in 1996 and share daughters Alexia, Sophia and Portia. Richards also has a daughter, Farrah Aldjufrie, with ex-husband Guraish Aldjufrie.
After news broke of their split, Richards and Umansky were quick to confirm that they were going through “a rough year” but shut down rumors that they had plans to divorce. The twosome also appeared to slam speculation that there was any wrongdoing in their relationship despite ongoing speculation about the nature of Richards’ friendship with Morgan Wade.
“While it may be entertaining to speculate, please do not create false stories to fit a further salacious narrative,” their statement read. “Thank you for the love and support.”

“We all know Pat is one of the toughest guys in the league,” Travis, 35, said during the Wednesday, December 18, episode of the “New Heights” podcast. “He’s going to play through anything and everything that he possibly can, all while making sure that the team’s best interest is there.”
Mahomes, 29, was “diagnosed with a mild high ankle sprain” after the Chiefs’ game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, December 15. Jason Kelce discussed the injury with his brother on Wednesday’s podcast episode.
Jason joked about Mahomes’ “weak ankles,” telling listeners that the quarterback has “just sprained those things so much at this point.”
“He’s going to tape it up. He’s going to be just fine,” Jason continued. “If you think it’s going to be that [much of a ] difference, all you got to do is watch the playoffs where he ended up winning a Super Bowl against yours truly. That ankle worked just fine. A lot of people were talking a big, big talk about it.”
Jason added, “There’s going to be times where he’s probably going to pull up lame and it’s going to hurt. But I got to believe that this thing is going to be alright.”
Travis chimed in, noting that the Chiefs are “playing meaningful football games right now” and Mahomes wants to be involved.
“Pat wants to be out there for his teammates and his coaches more than anybody, man,” Travis added. “He’s always been that guy.”
Travis and Jason’s “New Heights” podcast episode came one day after Mahomes offered an update on his ankle injury. (Mahomes was also listed as a full participant in the Chiefs’ practice.)
“I want to be able to move. I want to be able to get out of the way. [Houston’s] is a good pass rush, a good defense,” Mahomes said on Tuesday, December 17, per ESPN. “They fly around. You don’t want to go out there and put yourself in harm’s way. Obviously, it’s football and you’re going to take hits, but you want to be able to protect yourself. So that’ll be where I’m at and I don’t want to limit the game plan.”
He added, “That’s another thing for me is I want to be able to move around the pocket so we’re not just sitting in one spot the whole entire game and letting their D-line really get after it. It’s about me finding that balance and seeing where I’m at … I won’t know until kind of close to the end of this week.”
The Chiefs are set to take on the Houston Texans on Saturday, December 21.
The Traitors season 3 promises the return of some familiar faces — alongside a whole new cast of characters.
Eagle-eyed fans caught a quick glimpse at former cast members Kate Chastainand Parvati Shallow when the third season trailer dropped on Wednesday, December 18. In a shot Us will never forget, Kate, 41, and Parvati, 42, walk across a field wearing black and white gowns.
“Come friend, come foe, come one, come all, to the Highlands to see who lives and who falls,” host Alan Cumming told viewers in the trailer before teasing this season’s cast.
Bob the Drag Queen seems to be taking center stage, noting he has “a thirst for blood” before gunning for Cumming’s job.
“Listen, if the only two options are Traitor and Faithful, you sure host isn’t an option?” Bob asks. Cumming replies, “Back off.”
Each cast member gets their time to shine in the teaser, including The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania, who calls out the “weird s—” that Cumming puts the cast through.
Fellow Bravo star Dorinda Medley makes it clear that she’s not messing around when it comes to the gameplay, insisting, “I intend to leave as queen of the castle.”
Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause seems afraid of what’s to come while Vanderpump Rules alum Tom Sandoval is happy that he’s “finally” being taken “seriously.”
Both Summer House star Ciara Miller and The Bachelorette alum Gabby Windey bring their signature snark to The Traitors mansion.
“A bitch is lying and I’m gonna catch them,” Ciara declares. Gabby, for her part, doesn’t hesitate to snap at one of her fellow costars, saying, “If you carry on with that cocky attitude, you might get yourself in trouble.”
The Traitors brings together reality TV stars from different franchises — and in season 3’s case, a British aristocrat — as they compete in a mafia-style game for a large prize. Contestants are all assumed to be Faithfuls until proven to be Traitors, who secretly move around the castle to eliminate Faithfuls one by one. In the end, the winner can take home up to $250,000.
The season 3 cast also includes Robyn Dixon, Wells Adams, Tony Vlachos, Carolyn Wiger, Britney Haynes, Rob Mariano (Boston Rob), Danielle Reyes, Chanel Ayan, Dylan Efron, Jeremy Collins, Bob Harper, Lord Ivar Mountbatten, Sam Asghari and Nikki Garcia.
The Traitors returns to Peacock Sunday, January 9, at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET with a three-episode premiere event.
Heigl, 46, teamed up with Poise for a new commercial in which she explained bladder leaks – at length. In the minute-long clip, the actress could be seen out to lunch with a friend and said friend’s young son.
“I peed,” the friend declared after laughing at a story Heigl told. The Grey’s Anatomy alum responded, “Happens to the best of us.”
The 10-year-old boy told his mom it was “so embarrassing” before Heigl hit back with some major facts.
“You’re gonna deny your mother a moment of mirth just because she got the giggle dribble? And, by the way, it’s kind of your fault,” Heigl noted. “You see, when we have kids, the pelvic floor or the muscles and ligaments that help support the bladder can weaken.”
Heigl went on to discuss perimenopause (the time just before menopause) before pulling out her Poise and handing it to her friend.
“You’re embarrassing yourselves,” the 10-year-old stated. Heigl and her friend noted that it’s a “mother’s purpose” to embarrass their kids. (Heigl is a mother of three. She and husbandJosh Kelley adopted daughters Naleigh, 15, and Adalaide, 12, before welcoming son Joshua, 7.)
“By the way, how did you know all that stuff?” the friend asked. Heigl quipped, “Well, I used to be a doctor.”
Heigl played Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy from 2005 to 2010, leaving the show in the middle of season 6. Over the years, she’s reflected on her departure from the series — and how she would have done some things differently.
“I felt very protective of Izzie,” the actress said of her character in 2010. “I really loved her. I felt she was an admirable woman who certainly made mistakes. But I was starting to not like her, and that bothered me.”
The actress infamously withdrew herself from Emmy Awards consideration following season 4.
“I didn’t feel good about my performance and there was a part of me that thought, because I had won the year before, that I needed juicy, dramatic, emotional material,” she explained during an April 2016 interview. “So, I went to [creator] Shonda [Rhimes] and said, ‘I’m so sorry. That wasn’t cool, and I should not have said that.’ And I shouldn’t have said anything publicly. But at the time, I didn’t think anyone would notice … I just quietly didn’t submit and then it became a story, and I felt I was obligated to make my statement, and … ‘Shut up, Katie.'”
Are things about to get awkward between Giancarlo Stanton and latest New York Yankees recruit Cody Bellinger?
Stanton, 35, previously dated Bellinger’s longtime partner, Chase Carter, and MLB fans can’t get over it. Especially after the news that Bellinger, 29, was headed to the Yankees.
On Tuesday, December 17, it was announced that Bellinger had been acquired by the Yankees following a two-year stint on the Chicago Cubs. After the trade was announced, MLB fans were quick to revisit Stanton’s dating history — revealing that he and Carter, 27, had a romantic connection back in the day.
While Stanton and Carter never openly discussed their relationship, eagle-eyed baseball fans noticed the Sports Illustrated model sitting alongside fellow Yankees star Aaron Judge’s now-wife, Samantha Bracksieck, during a 2019 game. That same year, Carter and Stanton were photographed attending an event together in New York City. It’s unclear what really went down between them, but Carter was romantically linked to Bellinger the following year.
“Cody Bellinger’s Wife is Giancarlo Stanton’s Ex The Bronx is on fire,” one fan shared via X on Monday after news of Bellinger’s trade went public. Others shared an apparent Instagram Story photo Carter posted in the past, which showed her holding Stanton’s hand.
Another social media user added: “By the way, Cody Bellinger’s wife is Giancarlo Stanton’s ex. Talk about culture in the clubhouse.”
The model made things with Bellinger public in October 2020 when she posted a photo kissing the MLB star during one of his games. The couple celebrated their one-year anniversary in July 2021, announcing that Carter was pregnant with their first child. Their daughter Caiden was born in November of that year.
In October 2022, Carter announced that she and Bellinger were expecting their second child. “Caiden and Juniors sibling on the way,” she shared via Instagram at the time, referring to their daughter and dog. Their second baby girl, Cy, was born in April 2023.
“Cody caught her. Cy was a twin,” Carter captioned an Instagram post in May 2023 when sharing her birth story. “Her twin unfortunately didn’t make it (we also didn’t know there were twins until I birthed the placenta) but we are very blessed that Cy did.”
Bellinger proposed to Carter in June 2023. The model announced the news via social media, showing off her giant diamond ring. Multiple outlets have reported that they tied the knot in December 2023, but neither Bellinger nor Carter confirmed their marriage just yet. However, Carter has since changed her name on Instagram to Chase Bellinger.
Trinity Rodman has “made it clear” that dad Dennis Rodman is “not present” in her life — but she’s finally ready to share the truth about their relationship.
“He’s not a dad,” Trinity, 22, explained during her “Call Her Daddy” interview on Wednesday, December 18. “Maybe by blood, but nothing else.”
Dennis, 63, shares Trinity and son DJ, 23, with ex-wife Michelle Moyer. (He is also the father to 36-year-old daughter Alexis, whom he shares with ex-wife Annie Bakes.)
“This is my opportunity to, kind of, talk more — I don’t want to say negatively, but more realistic about it,” she explained. During the hour-long interview, the soccer star detailed the struggles growing up with the former NBA star as her dad and where they stand now.
“We tried to be that foundation and to be the good people around him. Because in reality, we never really asked for anything unless we really needed it,” Trinity said of her family. “We just want you. I think for him, he’s never understood the fact, because he’s never experienced it. … He’s never understood that people could actually just want to be around him and to just want to make him happy.”
Keep scrolling for the biggest revelations from Trinity’s “Call Her Daddy” interview:
Dennis’ Lifestyle
The athlete said her dad “partied all the time” during her childhood.
“We tried to live with him, but he’s having parties 24/7. He’s bringing random bitches in,” she said. “My mom didn’t want — she was strong enough to deal with it because even to this day, I still believe that my dad hasn’t loved anyone after my mom.”
Dennis married Moyer in 2003. Per Trinity, her dad’s “demons were too strong” and she filed for divorce in 2004, but the marriage wasn’t dissolved until 2012.
“I think my mom just saw the situation of, ‘We love each other. It’s not gonna work,’” Trinity said. “For my kids, I can’t have them seeing you treat me this way, embarrass me this way and have the party scene all the time.”
Trinity also spoke candidly about her dad’s substance abuse struggles. (Dennis has openly discussed his battle with alcohol abuse and has entered rehab on several occasions.)
“He’s an alcoholic,” she stated. “That’s something that I don’t want to say, but I’m just like, f— it. It’s just the truth.”
How Often She Saw Dennis
Initially, Trinity said her father was “in our lives less” as she and DJ continued to grow up.
“We were seeing him once, two, three, four times a year,” she recalled. “Every time they were together, it was the same s—. It was my mom being valid and what the f— are you doing? Help us and help your children.”
As Trinity and DJ got older, they “understood the situation more” and saw Dennis “less” — even though they lived in the same city.
Fighting About Money
Trinity said that she’s not “embarrassed” about how she grew up but noted that it was “a struggle” because her family “didn’t have money” and they lived in the wealthy town of Newport. (Trinity revealed that they also lived in a car at one point.)
“Before the divorce happened, my dad was actually helping money wise. … He would actually give money to my mom and let us live life a little bit,” she recalled. “When the divorce happened, it was just like, ‘F— you guys.’ … We’re getting enough money to pay rent, barely.”
At one point, Trinity said that Dennis claimed they wanted to “use him” for money. Meanwhile, he would not pay child support. (In 2012, Dennis was ordered to pay Moyer $500,000 in back child support.)
“That was all the fight was ever about, in front of us at least,” she continued. “It was just the money part and helping your children.”
Keeping His Good Image
Despite what was going on behind closed doors during her childhood, Trinity said she was still publicly supporting her father.
“That’s the crazy part is, we still were going to those events like we were just a happy little family. Getting dressed, getting styled, his [2011] Jersey Retirement, all those things that we attended,” she said. “It was just the weirdest thing because we did things for him and we’ve always done things for him. He wanted to have a good image of having his family by him.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Trinity referred to her father as “an extremely selfish human being” who loves the spotlight.
The 2021 Incident at Trinity’s Game — And Where They Stand Now
While Trinity was playing as a rookie for the Washington Spirit, Dennis made a surprise appearance at one of her games. The incident resulted with Trinity sobbing after the game.
“I think it’s like halfway through the first half and I hear [his voice],” she recalled. “I’m like, oh my f—ing gosh, like, there’s no way this is happening right now. Mind you, I haven’t seen him in or talked to him months.”
Trinity finished the first half of the game and spent halftime in tears. However, she went back on the field and scored the game-winning goal. After the game came to an end, Trinity was just “mad” at the situation.
“I was like, ‘You took this happy moment for me.’ Like you f—ed with my head again,” she said, but she ended up falling into Dennis’ arms and crying. “I cried and I was super happy. I was like, let’s take the positive of it. He’s here.”
After that day, Trinity didn’t hear from Dennis until this year. Trinity said her dad has been “trying to call” over the past few weeks.
“I answer the phone now for my conscience. If something does happen, God forbid, I want to know that I did that. Or if he needed to hear my voice before anything happens,” she said. “That’s why I answer the phone, not for me.”
Dennis’ Relationship With DJ
Trinity explained that Dennis has a different relationship with her than he does with her brother — who is also a basketball player.
“He treats me the best. I’m, like, still his little princess and I can’t do any wrong. Growing up, he treated my brother like s— too,” she recalled, noting that DJ has “confidence” issues because of it.
Celine Dion is remembering late husband René Angélil on what would have been their 30th wedding anniversary.
“You still fill our hearts, every day. You are everything for us. We miss you so much,” Dion, 56, captioned an Instagram post on Monday, December 17. “Happy 30th anniversary, mon amour!”
The Canadian singer shared a photo of her and Angélil on their wedding day, signing the message from herself and her three kids — René-Charles, 23, and twins Eddy and Nelson, 14.
Dion married Angélil in 1994, and they were still together at the time of his death in January 2016. Angélil died at age 73 “at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle” with throat cancer, a statement revealed.
While her quotes about Angélil are rare, Dion has spoken publicly about losing her life partner.
“Throughout my life, I only had eyes for my husband, who sat out here, night after night,” she told fans during a February 2016 performance. “People thought that I was looking at him, actually, but I didn’t have to, I didn’t need to, because every time I closed my eyes, I felt René on stage with me.”
Two years after his death, Dion said during an interview with Australian TV show The Project that her husband is “as alive as he was before.”
“Not physically with us, but I live with him,” she continued. “I see him every day through the eyes of my children.”
Dion’s three boys “have been her rock” in the years since Angélil’s death, a source told Us Weekly in December 2022 after Dion publicly revealed her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome. The singer announced her health battle via Instagram, explaining that she had been battling a “very rare neurological disorder” for a few years. (Stiff-person syndrome “affects something like one in a million people” and causes spasms, Dion shared at the time.)
René-Charles, Eddy and Nelson have been by their mom’s side following her diagnosis.
“The twins are very mature for their age and René-Charles checks in and dotes on his mom all the time,” the same insider shared with Us. “It came as a shock, but she’s lost none of her fighting spirit and is comforted that at least she knows exactly what she’s dealing with now and there’s comfort that she can alleviate some of the symptoms by getting treatments that are specific for this condition.”
Tom Holland is getting more comfortable talking about his relationship with Zendaya it seems.
Holland, 28, joked during the Monday, December 18, episode of the “Dish” podcast that film “studios love” when he and girlfriend Zendaya, 28, work together on movies because they only need to book “one hotel room.”
“Separate drivers. We’re not crazy,” Holland quipped, teasing the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie he and Zendaya are set to star in alongside Robert Pattinson and Matt Damon.
On a serious note, Holland added that their relationship is his “saving grace” as they both navigate fame.
“Best thing that’s ever happened to me,” the British star added.
Holland and Zendaya met while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming and by 2017, fans started to wonder whether they were more than friends. Initially, the duo denied their relationship as they continued to star in the Marvel film franchise. (Holland and Zendaya appeared in three Spider-Man movies together, with rumors of them returning for a fourth.)
By July 2021, however, their relationship was confirmed after Holland and Zendaya were photographed making out in his car.
“Zendaya and Tom started off as really great friends and stayed that way for a long while before things turned romantic,” a source told Us Weekly at the time.
While the couple hasn’t allowed the public to fully enter their relationship, both Holland and Zendaya have started to speak more openly about being together.
“I think that’s where Zendaya and I have been such a strong couple is in the spirit of being able to relate with one another on something that is very, very unique,” he said during Monday’s podcast episode. “I think it’s just relying on the people around you.”
Holland added, “It’s about being a little bit more organized, knowing where you want to go and, you know, there are restaurants that have little back rooms and stuff where you can have a more private night. But at the end of the day, [this level of fame] it’s no hardship.”
Zendaya recently shared a similar sentiment about working alongside her boyfriend.
“It’s actually strangely comfortable. It’s like second nature, if anything. You feel extra safe with the person you’re acting beside,” she told Vanity Fair in November 2024. “I love working with him. He’s so talented and so passionate about what he does. He always gives things one thousand percent, even if he’s absolutely worn down. I really appreciate that about him. It feels pretty normal. That’s how we met. Literally, at a chemistry read.”
Kyle, 55, introduced the idea for her Denim and Diamonds party early in the Tuesday, December 17 episode. She explained in her confessional that it “feels funny” to be hosting an event without her estranged husband Mauricio Umansky. (Kyle and Mauricio separated in July 2023 after 27 years of marriage.)
“There was always something going wrong that he would help with,” Kyle said. “I feel a little strange. I don’t know what to put on the invitations. … I just feel a little bit lost.”
Kyle’s feelings of worry seemed to subside — at least until Camille Grammer arrived at the event. Kyle confided in Camille, 56, saying that it’s been “really rough” dealing with her separation from Mauricio.
“He’s at this bachelor pad, no responsibilities,” Kyle said. Camille responded, “It’s a party for them. Midlife crisis, this is fun, young girls. … I know it. Been there, done that.”
Kyle confessed she thought Camille was “projecting a bit” when she revisited the exchange in her confessional. (Camille was married to Kelsey Grammer from 1997 to 2010. The end of their marriage was chronicled on RHOBH season 1.)
“Has Mau done a few things that I could live without, that I’ve had to see on the internet? Yes, for sure,” Kyle continued. “But Camille’s experience and my experience are both very different. I mean, it could be a lot worse.”
As the party went on, Bozoma Saint John decided to “call a tribal council” to discuss what went down in Oceanside during last week’s episode. (Dorit Kemsley got into arguments with both Kyle and Sutton Stracke.)
Things between Sutton, 53, and Dorit, 48, came to a head when they sat down with the full cast.
“You’re angry and you’re not angry at me. You’re angry at your life,” Sutton declared, referencing Dorit’s separation from PK Kemsley. “Don’t take it out on me. It is not my fault that you are in the position that you’re in.”
Kyle called Sutton’s declaration a “low blow” in her confessional. “Why would you say that to her right now? By the way, I agree but I’m not going to say that to her right now,” she added.
Dorit was quick to hit back. (Elsewhere in the episode, Dorit claimed that Sutton doesn’t give “one f—” about what she’s going through.)
“I’m being open and honest and truthful and transparent,” she said. “My life sucks right now. I am not in a good place at all and I have zero tolerance for more bulls—. It’s as simple as that. How’s that for transparent and honest and open?”
Camille said she was “sorry to butt in” but wanted to add her two cents about Dorit.
“Years ago, my house burnt down. I lost my house, I lost my assistant of many many years and I didn’t get a lot of compassion or empathy from some — especially Dorit,” she said. Dorit responded, “Honey, you were a total c— to me.”
All of the RHOBH women were awestruck by Dorit’s statement.
“You were a total c— to me. … I called you a stupid c—. Not a f—ing c—. I did it as a joke,” Dorit continued, referencing a season 8 moment. “I said you’re a stupid c— as a joke. You know I did. … You always knew it, Camille.”
Dorit also reflected on the past RHOBH moment in her confessional.
“Once upon a time, I regretted calling Camille [spells out c—]. Now, I feel like Camille’s a stupid f—ing c—.”
Camille went on to claim that the “condescending” Dorit frequently puts fellow RHOBH “on hold.”
“Where have you been Camille? What are you even doing here?” Dorit said. “What are you doing here? You need a moment.”
Camille then recalled meeting Dorit for the first time with Erika Jayne — but forgot Erika’s name.
“My name is Erika,” she said laughing. (In her confessional, Erika simply stated: “C—.”)
“You’re a different person now, Dorit,” Camille continued back at the party. “I don’t know what happened to you, but you’ve changed.”
New episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills air on Bravo Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Stream old episodes anytime on Peacock.
“I was there from the beginning. I saw it all and I really did,” Capshaw, 48, told Us Weekly exclusively at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball on Friday, December 13. “I remember looking at Gracie and saying, ‘Don’t go out with him. … You’re on a show. It’s a series. Could be dangerous.’ Meanwhile, they were already together. I had no idea.”
Capshaw admitted she has “a thing about actors and actresses” being together romantically.
“I’m like, ‘I don’t know guys. I’m not sure it’s a good idea.’ Whatever,” Capshaw recalled. “It was the very beginning of the show — and they publicly said all of this, so I’m not giving anything away.”
TheGrey’s Anatomy star thought, “I shouldn’t have said that” after talking with Van Patten, 28.
Capshaw played the role of CJ Albright during the first season of the Hulu series. Van Patten portrayed her daughter, Lucy Albright on the show. As the first season of Tell Me Lies was airing in 2022, Van Patten and White, 28 — who play on-again, off-again love interests — confirmed that they were dating offscreen.
Real-life romance aside, Tell Me Lies has become a phenomenon, even airing its second season earlier this year.
Capshaw told Us “in no way” did she expect the show to succeed in the way that it did. She actually got the role after working alongside Emma Roberts in the 2020 movie Holidate. (Tell Me Lies is based on a book of the same name by Carola Lovering and Roberts is an executive producer on the show.)
“My character came up in the first season, I think three episodes or something like that. I hadn’t gotten to read the entire book. I just read the scripts,” Capshaw said, noting that her reaction to the book was “wait a second” because her character was more involved.
“You didn’t quite understand why she was so upset with her mother. But if you read the book, you understood that [Lucy’s mom] slept with her high school crush,” Capshaw said. “I was like, ‘Oh, why didn’t you keep that super naughtiness in?’ I could have been way naughtier.”
“I’ve spoken to him, and I wish him all the best and I told him he better kill it,” Lil Wayne, 42, said while appearing on “The Skip Bayless Show” on Monday, December 16. During the interview, the rapper was reacting to lyrics about him on “Wacced Out Murals,” which was included on Lamar’s GNX album released last month.
“Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud,” Lamar, 37, raps on the song. “Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.”
Lil Wayne said during Monday’s interview that it was the first time he had heard the song lyrics. (Lamar’s lyrics appear to reference Lil Wayne’s reaction to not getting the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show gig.)
“I think [Lamar’s] a fan like I’m a fan of his music … he saw what everybody else [saw] and he saw how much it meant to me,” the “A Milli” artist explained. “I think that’s all he meant … obviously he can’t control that. He didn’t let me down. It ain’t like he can control it.”
Lil Wayne added, “He knew he didn’t have to do anything. There was no explanation that was needed.”
It was announced in September that Lamar will headline the Super Bowl LIX halftime show next year, set to take place in New Orleans. Lil Wayne was previously vying for the gig because the game is happening in his hometown.
“I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking. I’mma say thank you to every voice, every opinion, all the care, all love and support out there,” he said. “Your words turned into arms and held me up when I tried to fall back.”
Getting turned down to perform “hurt a lot,” Lil Wayne told his followers.
“You know what I’m talking about. It hurt a whole lot,” he continued. “For automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So, I blame myself for that. But I thought that was nothing better than that spot and that stage and that platform in my city, so it hurt. It hurt a whole lot.”
During Monday’s podcast appearance, Lil Wayne said he’s started to spin the apparent snub as a driving force for his career.
“I straight look at it like, ‘You ain’t there, you gotta get there,’” he said. “I want to get to the point where I’m undeniable. I want them to walk in there and have 10 other choices and whoever’s in charge says, ‘No, you have to go with him!’”
The 28-year-old actor appeared on Theo Von’s “This Past Weekend” podcast on Monday, December 16, and spoke about his niece for the first time. Timothée acknowledged his rigorous press tour for the Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, but explained that family time is on the other side.
“It’s coming out on Christmas, so I’m going every day. But I love the movie, that’s why … s—, man, I’m trying to go as hard as possible,” Timothée said. “Then f—ing come back [to New York] and be with my family, be with my new little niece.”
Timothée gushed over the baby being the “first one” in his family. “That’s a crazy moment,” he added.
When podcast host Von asked Timothée his niece’s name — and if he could show a picture — the actor said that Pauline, 32, is trying to keep the little one out of the public eye for now.
“I think my sister’s kept her offline,” Timothée said. “You know, my sister lives in a sort of, she’s with a group of people in, like, a forest-type thing in France.”
Pauline debuted her baby bump in June, when appearing in a photo posted to designer Jeanne Damas’ Instagram Story. She never publicly addressed her pregnancy, or the birth of her first child. However, eagle-eyed fans did catch Pauline discussing her daughter during a Paris Fashion Week event in October.
A video circulating via X at the time showed Pauline speaking with director Greta Gerwig, revealing that she gave birth “three weeks ago.”
“I just had a baby!” she gushed, gesturing to a man standing beside her, who has since been identified as producer Rhys Raiskin. “We just had a baby.”
Pauline also spoke about being a first-time mom during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show earlier this month. The actress said that Mindy Kailing, the creator of Pauline’s show Sex Lives of College Girls, was “one of the first people” to know about the pregnancy.
“I called her. I was like, ‘OK, we’re about to start [filming season 3], and, surprise!’ And she was like, I mean, you were just so supportive and had the best advice because also she’s just … Mindy does it all,” Pauline said. “So she was like, ‘Yeah, OK, no problem. And this is how we’ll handle it.’ And everyone was so supportive.”
The 31-year-old comedian rocked an all-black outfit paired with red leather jacket while attending the All In: Comedy About Love by Simon Rich Gala Performance at Hudson Theatre on Monday, December 16. Davidson stepped out to support his longtime friend John Mulaney, who is starring in the Broadway comedy show. The duo even posed together for a series of photos.
Davidson’s rare outing on Monday marked his first red carpet appearance in over a year, his last being Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in June 2023.
The comedian has been in and out of the public eye since his career started more than a decade ago, speaking candidly about his mental health struggles.
Davidson recently discussed his decision to live a low-key life in a new profile for W Magazine, published on Thursday, December 12.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed it, but I’ve been laying low,” he joked during the interview, which promoted his latest venture as the creative director of sock brand Doublesoul.
Davidson further opened up about how his mindset has changed since starting off his career.
“When I was 19, it was all about the ’fit — that was all that mattered. Now it’s health, family, humility, being a good person, not being a drug addict. Stuff like that,” he explained. “Luckily, I got hit on the face with the Hollywood shovel. It was a long time coming, and I needed it. I’m very happy where I am right now, mentally.”
Aside from his tenure on Saturday Night Live — Davidson was a cast member from 2014 to 2022 — the actor has become known for his high-profile love life, but he hopes that will change going forward.
“I just want to be known for doing good work. I want to be out there only when it’s [for a] movie, stand-up, charity, or business ventures,” he said. “That’s when I want to be seen. I don’t want to be this f—ing loser who just dates people. That’s not who I am.”
Being such a public figure was “a blessing” for Davidson, in a way.
“It allowed me to take a step back and evaluate things,” he added. “What do you want to be? Who are you? I’m someone who is from Staten Island, wanted to do stand-up, and if I got to do anything else because of stand-up, it was a miracle.”
TikTok star Joules Smith has died at age 6 following a terminal cancer diagnosis.
Joules’ dad, Joe Smith, announced the news of his daughter’s death in an Instagram video posted earlier this month. “Our dancing queen we love you forever ,” he captioned the clip, revealing that Joules died on December 9.
“As you’ve noticed, we’ve not been on social media for the last couple of weeks. The reason for that is we had to spend every single second with our beautiful princess Joules — and we did just that,” Joe told followers days after Joules’ death. “We didn’t leave that little girl’s side. Unfortunately, on the early hours of Monday morning, our beautiful little dancing queen passed away in between me and [my wife] Elisha in the bed.”
Based in the U.K. with her family, Joules went viral earlier this year after it was announced that she had been diagnosed with inoperable diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), which is a highly aggressive tumor found in the brainstem.
Joe started posting videos of Joules as she continued to battle the illness over the past few months. Specifically, she posted “Dance for Joules” videos which helped to raise money on a GoFundMe page set up for the family this past June. Nearly £97,000 (over $76,000) has been raised at this time.
The website — created by a family friend —shared that Joe and Elisha took Joules to the doctor “after very short and mild symptoms,” leading them to receive the brain tumor diagnosis.
“Joules has been an absolute inspiration to everyone and I’m so proud to be her dad, as is Elisha her mom,” Joe continued in his Instagram video. “We take so much comfort in knowing she inspired and touched the life of so many people from around the world.”
He continued, “That sounds insane to say that, but we reached everyone around the world with ‘Dancing for Joules’ and that’s thanks to you guys for sharing these videos and for helping us raise awareness. This is something we promise we’re going to carry on.”
Concluding his video, Joe asked fans to continue dancing for his late daughter.
“I know she’ll still be dancing,” he added. “I just want to take a minute to say thank you so much to every single person who has donated, who has been there on our journey, charity events, everything that’s going on at the moment and the ‘Dancing for Joules.’ If you took the time to dance, thank you so much.”
