Katie Couric has been keeping in touch with Hoda Kotb following her exit from the Today show.

“I’ve texted her a couple of times and told her I hope she was sleeping in,” Couric, 68, exclusively told Us Weekly on Thursday, March 6. Couric left Today in 2006 after 15 years on the show to anchor CBS Evening News, becoming the first solo woman in history to anchor a nightly news broadcast.

“Someone was asking me earlier today about leaving the Today show,” Couric told Us, adding that “change and new challenges keeps life interesting and exciting.”

She shared, “If you do something too long, it starts to feel stale no matter how exciting the job may be. So I was excited for Hoda — having anchored the Today show for 15 years — to go and try new things and challenge herself and, you know, be in different venues. I’m really excited for her.”

“I had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking they deserve a bigger piece of my time, the pie that I have,” she explained. “I feel like we only have a finite amount of time. And so, with all that being said, this is the hardest thing in the world.”

Couric also admitted to Us that while she still watches “some” of the Today show, she doesn’t consume nearly as much of the morning show as she used to.

“Honestly, in the morning I’m usually up and out. And to be honest with you, like so many people, I get a lot of my content digitally,” she explained to Us. “So, I do, but not consistently, not like I used to, and not like I did when I was actually on it.”

Brittany Mahomes and her children “had a time” recently while visiting the Peppa Pig Theme Park in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.

Brittany shared a series of photos featuring the mom of three and her oldest children, Sterling and Bronze, during the trio’s trip to the park in her Instagram Stories on Friday, March 7.

In the first Story, she shared a collage of photos featuring herself holding Bronze, the threesome enjoying a boat ride and herself and Sterling posing for a photo with a real-life Peppa the Pig.

It also looked like the family was joined by several other young children in the second Story, Sterling posed with a group of girls.

Bronze might not have had the best time throughout the entire outing, though. “He rode the roller coaster one time but had to close his eyes,” Brittany captioned a photo of the toddler with his hands over his face.

On Wednesday, March 5, Brittany told her followers on the platform that they shouldn’t expect to see her youngest baby’s face, Golden, “for a while” after her trainer Betina Gozo Shimonek appeared to show a glimpse of the newborn in a video. Brittany gave birth to Golden on January 12 and shares all three children with her husband, Patrick Mahomes.

In the video, Shimonek said she was on “triple duty” while training Brittany, watching her own daughter and minding Golden. “I think I need to clarify, Golden is in the stroller you can’t see her and won’t for a while ,” Brittany wrote on her own Instagram Story at the time, after fans speculated as to whose child was whose. “That is Makoa [Shimonek’s son] in the bouncer .”

After the couple welcomed Golden to the family, Patrick was asked if the pair would consider adding a fourth child. “[I’m] good with three [kids] for right now,” he said at a press conference in January. “My goal was always three, so we’ve had three. We’ll stick there for a while and see if we need to come back and get another one later on.”

Of course, that doesn’t mean the pair are definitely finished having children. “I said three and I’m done,” he said in July 2024. “I always wanted to have kids young. I got to grow up in a locker room, and it made such an impact in my life. We’re on our third kid now. … Brittany does a great job of doing that and we still go out and enjoy our life.”

Lindsay Hubbard has some thoughts on West Wilson addressing whether she would return for Summer House season 10 after welcoming her first baby.

“I told him, I was like, ‘Look, here’s the problem that I have with this statement — not that I brought you on to this show and gave you a job, that’s not even the problem that I’m having here, but you should remind yourself of that — the problem I’m having is, I just became a mother and this is my job and I need to be a provider for my daughter,’” Hubbard, 38, said on the Thursday, March 6, episode of Betches’ “Mention It All” podcast.

She continued of her conversation with Wilson, “‘You going around being like, ‘There’s no way [she’s returning],’ is not really helpful, and is actually really hurtful. Wilson made headlines last month when he was asked on an episode of the “Trading Secrets” podcast whether he thought Hubbard would be on the Bravo show next season. “There’s no way, I don’t know. The day after he was declared a co-winner of The Traitors, Efron revealed his relationship status in an appearance on “The Viall Files.”

“It works out really well. It’s not, like, I’m hiding her from the world or anything,” he said of the private nature of their relationship. “She understands the job, all the stuff. She doesn’t really like being on camera. She loves your guys’ podcast. I wouldn’t know about it [without her]. She’s the one who introduced me.”

A new documentary is shining a light on the life and legacy of Raquel Welch, including how her Bolivian ethnicity impacted her iconic Hollywood career.

“I do think what’s really important to acknowledge is that Raquel Welch was originally Raquel Tejada,” Brian Eugenio, a cultural historian at Princeton University, says in the new CW documentary titled I am Raquel Welch.

The doc, which premiered on Saturday, March 8, alleges that Welch — who died in 2023 at the age of 82 — was told to essentially hide her ethnicity for the sake of her budding career in Hollywood.

“She was saying they wanted to change her hair, her look, her name,” Gregory Nava, a director who worked with Welch on  American Family, says in the film. “Her manager at the time was saying, ‘No, you don’t want to come off as being Hispanic.’ They wanted to change her first name from Raquel to, I think, Debbie Welch. Very much in the Sandra Dee, Doris Day tradition, you know. But she refused.”

Welch did, however, take the surname of her first husband, James Welch (the pair were married from 1959 to 1964) instead of Tejada, her father’s last name.

“Her father was a structural engineer who was a Bolivian immigrant to the United States who married an Anglo woman [Josephine Sarah Hall], and so, she was raised as fully aware that she was Bolivian,” Eugenio continues in the doc. “As she tells the story, her father refused to speak Spanish in the house ‘cause he didn’t want his kids to have an accent.”

In the film, Welch discusses her identity in her own words, saying that there was “a part of me that was missing” growing up. “The part of me that was missing was the part of me that my father chose to just amputate out of our lives,” she continued.

Audio of the late actress also features her admitting that she didn’t think she would have gone very far in Hollywood if she had insisted she be referred to by her maiden name.

“If you had kept your maiden name, do you think you would have been able to go as far in Hollywood?” an interviewer asks Welch in the audio. “If I was Raquel Tejado, not a chance in hell, no. No way,” Welch responds.

Actress Constance Marie, who costarred with Welch in the early aughts PBS series American Family, explained in the film that Welch and many other Latina actresses “came up in a time where if you had any Spanish or any accent, you failed in school.”

“When they knew that you were part Latino, then you were stereotyped, put into this tiny box that Hollywood thought, ‘That’s what Latinos are,’ but Raquel was so much bigger than that,” she explained. “And she wanted to be bigger than that. So from that standpoint, she had to lead with whatever she could.”

“I started using the term ‘stealth Latino’ to talk about figures like Raquel Welch, a person of Latin American or Spanish descent,” Eugenio explained in the documentary. “Their Latino heritage was never necessarily a secret, but wasn’t necessarily part of their forward-facing brand.”

Janet Jackson is sharing a throwback family photo to celebrate the women in her life.

Ryan Sutter is looking back at his football career decades after he hung up his jersey.

“All I ever wanted to be was a professional football player. The odds were not good. But I loved football,” Sutter, 50, wrote via Instagram on Friday, March 7. “I played from a pee wee through college and, yes, I made it to the NFL. Drafted by the Baltimore Ravens but ending up on the Carolina Panthers practice squad my goal was finally achieved on November 29th, 1998 when I was activated to play against the New York Jets.”

He continued, “I lined up for the opening kick off. The whistle blew. I ran down the field. By the time the next whistle blew, my career was over. 5 seconds had run off the clock. In an attempt to make the tackle, I blew up my shoulder. I never made it back.”

Sutter said his dream was “both realized and shattered” within five seconds. “20 years of effort culminated on that day, in that moment,” he said. “Then it was over. The game went on obviously. We lost. Life went on. I had to go on. But I didn’t know any other way.”

Sasami is headed out on the road to play her new album, Blood on the Silver Screen, for fans — and this time, she has a new instrument in her arsenal.

It’s so funny because I’ll be opening for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Haim, like a giant crowd, and I’m not at all nervous about performing, but sometimes I’ll be really last-minute getting my makeup done and my fingers are shaking just trying to get the lipstick right. One time when I was on tour in Ireland, I don’t know why I was possessed to chug an Irn-Bru. Before the show we chugged Buckfast, and then while I was on stage, for some reason I was possessed to chug an Irn-Bru and I literally had to leave the stage during the show to use the bathroom very quickly. I was like, “I’m gonna be sick.” That was a risqué moment.

Irn-Brus aren’t [alcoholic], but Buckfast is a fortified wine that monks in Ireland make. It used to be illegal in some places, but the pre-show ritual was that we chugged the Buckfast, but then on stage I chugged the Irn-Bru, which is like an Irish soda. It’s kind of like their version of Mountain Dew or something like that. Performative chugging is European too. I feel like that is a colonizer trait that came from Europe that Americans do now that we can leave behind.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has been arrested on charges of domestic violence.

Per Williams County, Texas, online records, Worthy was arrested on Friday, March 7, and charged with assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation. The identity of the family or household member has not yet been publicly revealed.

TMZ reported that Worthy is being held without bail and will appear before a judge on Saturday, March 8.

“We are aware and gathering information,” the Chiefs organization said in a statement Saturday, March 7, per USA Today. Worthy has not publicly commented on the arrest or charges.
