Tina Knowles expressed her condolences after Howard University law professor Kiah Duggins was killed in the recent American Airlines plane crash.

“So very saddened by the loss of this beautiful accomplished young woman,” Knowles, 71, wrote via Instagram on Friday, January 31. “Rest in peace to her family sending condolences and love to you.”

She added, “God bless your soul, Kiah.”

Knowles also shared a graphic with Duggins’ portrait, which read, “Rest in Peace. Professor Kiah Duggins was among those lost in last night’s plane crash in D.C. Professor Duggins was set to begin a new chapter as a professor at Howard University School of Law this fall. May her memory be an inspiration to all.”

Washington Sports Teams Send Condolences to Plane Crash Victims, Families

News broke on Wednesday, January 29, that a commercial American Airlines plane traveling from Wichita, Kansas, crashed in the Potomac River after a collision with a military helicopter. There were reportedly four crew members and 60 passengers on board, including Duggins.

Howard University is an HBCU located in Washington, D.C., and the school’s president later issued a tribute to Duggins.

“It is with profound sadness that the Howard University community and the Howard University School of Law have learned of the passing of Professor Kiah Duggins, who was among those lost in the mid-air plane collision at Reagan National Airport,” Dr. Ben Vinson III said in a Thursday, January 30, X statement. “We ask for privacy and respect for Professor Duggins’ family, students and colleagues during this difficult time.”

The university’s official X page reposted Vinson’s message before sharing a longer obituary via LinkedIn.

“We ask for privacy and respect for Professor Duggins’ family, students, and colleagues during this difficult time. Plans to honor her legacy will be shared in coming days,” the statement read, in part. “We encourage our community to seek any support they may need.”

Duggins had recently accepted a position as a faculty member at Howard’s law school. She previously worked as a civil rights attorney.

“She dedicated her career to fighting against unconstitutional policing and unjust money bail practices in Tennessee, Texas and Washington, D.C,” the university statement added.

In addition to Duggins’ passing, there were also 14 youth figure skaters onboard the aircraft. The amateur athletes were traveling home from the U.S. Figure Skating Team’s development camp held in Wichita earlier this month.

“We are devastated by this unspeakable tragedy and hold the victims’ families closely in our hearts,” a statement from the organization read. “We will continue to monitor the situation and will release more information as it becomes available.”

Jessica Alba is sharing a glimpse into her mindset as she moves forward with her separation from Cash Warren.

In a social media post, Alba, 43, shared a message from Stråla Yoga founder Tara Stiles about the power of healing.

Some Bachelor and Bachelorette stars had more luck in the love department outside the reality dating series, finding their forever without the prying eyes of cameras.

Ali Fedotowsky and Emily Maynard are among the former leads who broke up with their final picks, only to find The One after starring on the show.

“I went on the show for a good time. I didn’t go on for love,” Fedotowsky told Us Weekly exclusively in 2019. “Nobody goes on the show for love and then they’re just surprised when they actually do fall in love.They go on there like, ‘This could be fun.’”

While she and Roberto Martinez were briefly engaged, the pair split and Fedotowsky moved on with now-husband Kevin Manno.

Maynard, meanwhile, married Tyler Johnson in June 2014. They share sons Jennings, born in July 2015, Gibson, born in September 2016 and Gatlin, born in November 2017.

Nine months after being granted a conservatorship over his wife, Mavis Leno, Jay Leno is sharing an update on how they are doing.

While talking with People about his new movie, Midas Man, Leno also opened up about life with his wife of 44 years since she was diagnosed with dementia.

“You try to find the humor in this situation,” he told People, recalling a recent shopping trip he took his wife on.

“I can see she’s a little down, [so I said], ‘Come on, we’ll go to the mall.’ So we go to Nordstrom and I said, ‘You see anything you like?’ ‘No, no.’ So we look at the shoes, and [she says], ‘Oh, I like these sneakers.'”

Seeing the happy look on Mavis’s face when she found a pair of shoes she liked elated Leno. So much so, People reports that he encouraged Mavis to pick out another pair she liked.

“I see she’s happy, and I said, ‘This is great.’ So I got two pairs of sneakers, and [the cashier says] ‘That’s $24. And the other pair, that’s $847,'” he continued.

“I go, ‘No, I only had two pairs of sneakers. I thought these were $24.’ [The cashier] goes, ‘Yeah, these are $24. But the other ones were [designer sneakers]. It looked like the guy took a pair of the same sneakers and used a bedazzler on them, and they were $800,” Leno joked.

“I look at my wife and said, ‘You like these?’ I go, ‘Honey, you look great.'”

Leno said he ultimately paid the bill, adding that he’s “glad I can afford this and it made my wife happy. It just made me laugh. Just typical.”

“I thought the $24 pair looked better than those, but that’s OK. It just made me laugh, and I think when you’re dealing with this kind of thing,” referring to Mavis’s battle with dementia, “you find your moments where you can have a laugh and have fun, and my wife really likes them and felt good about it.”

“So the fact that it was the same pair of sneakers that got hit with a bedazzler, I guess that’s fine. But it just made me laugh, and that’s pretty much what it is,” he told People.

Leno was granted conservatorship over Mavis in April 2024.

At the time, Mavis’ lawyers confirmed that they were “in agreement” with Leno’s move to become Mavis’ conservator, adding that she is “receiving excellent care with her husband, Mr. Leno.”

The judge agreed, saying, “I think she’s in the least restrictive environment. I think she’s in very good care with Mr. Leno.” As People reports, the judge then directed his statements at Leno.

“Everything you’re doing is right,” the judge told Leno. “I totally understand this is a difficult period.”

In a 2014 interview with The Washington Post where Mavis opened up about her decision to not have any children, she called Leno the  “the single kindest human being I ever met.”

“People say marriage is difficult,” Leno shared while at Feminist Majority Foundation’s 16th Annual Global Women’s Rights Awards Gala in May 2024.

“I don’t get it. I enjoy her company. I enjoy taking care of her. We have fun. She’s the most independent woman I ever knew. Again, I just couldn’t be prouder of her.”

Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore and his longtime girlfriend, Jesiree Dizon, have called it quits.

Moore, 54, and Dizon, 41, recently broke up but remain amicable coparents, according to People and TMZ.

Moore later addressed the speculation in a Friday, January 31, Instagram video, confirming the split before noting that their relationship status is private and “not your business.”

“It’s my life,” he said. “Mind your business [and] give us a break, give us some privacy. … She’s an amazing woman for so many reasons. Next to my mother, because my mother was a boss, Jesiree Dizon is No. 2. She is a phenomenal mother [and] is loving, attentive, caring, smart, nurturing.”

Moore added, “Breaking up ain’t easy. … I’m looking for joy, I’m looking for calm, I’m looking for peace [and] I’m looking for love in my life, in my spirit.”

Moore and Dizon had been together for nearly five years, making their Instagram debut in 2023. That same year, the pair confirmed that they were expecting their first baby together, Dizon’s third. Daughter Frankie arrived in January 2023.

“[Frankie] is the reason I’m so damn happy, and my girl Jesiree,” Moore said on The Jennifer Hudson Show earlier this month. “That’s my little baby girl. That’s my miracle. That’s little Frankie.”

Moore further explained that Frankie’s birth was his late mother Marilyn’s “dream.” (Marilyn died in 2020 after battles with multiple sclerosis and a heart condition.)

“Y’all know that Mama’s up in heaven and her dream was to see this happen,” Moore told host Jennifer Hudson. “She wanted to be a grandma, and Mama made sure I wasn’t alone. I can’t prove it, but between God and my mama, they made sure I wasn’t alone. So, now I got Jesiree and I got Frankie.”

Frankie recently turned 2, which Moore celebrated during his Jennifer Hudson Show appearance.

“We take her to the park [and] … she loves the swings, she loves the slide,” he said of Frankie’s interests. “She’s a water baby, so I just bounce her around the pool [and] swing her around in circles and throw her up, bring her down and make sure her head doesn’t go underwater ‘cause Jesiree will knock me out, but she loves the water.”

According to Moore, Frankie has “truly given [him] purpose.”

“She saved my life,” he gushed. “I’m not gonna get heavy, but I want to say something real. My mama was my everything — my best friend, my partner-in-crime — [and] we loved hard, we fought hard but it was all for love,” he added. “I lived my whole life to make her proud and when she left, I was lost. I was like, ‘But, I’m blessed. I have a life, I have a house.’ … I was in a place of like, ‘So, what? What does it all mean? Why am I doing all this?’ And then little Frankie came along and that’s what it’s all about.”

Months earlier, Moore called Dizon a “dope-ass mama” while admitting that marriage likely wasn’t in the cards for them.

“I didn’t have a good role model of marriage in my life,” Moore told People in November 2024. “Not my mother, not my father. Nobody close to me. Who made that rule?”

At just 12 years old, figure skater Brielle Beyer had already lived quite a life both on and off the ice. 

Brielle was one of the victims of the Wednesday, January 29, plane crash in Washington D.C. when American Airlines flight 5342 collided with an Army helicopter near Ronald Reagan National Airport. The skater was on board the plane with her mother, Justyna, as the pair returned from the U.S. National Development Camp in Wichita, Kansas. 

During an interview with ABC News on Thursday, January 30, it was revealed that Brielle was also a cancer survivor.

“She was just such a fighter in everything she did,” Brielle’s father, Andy Beyer, told reporter Whit Johnson. “She lived life to the fullest with everything. She was so proud of herself in figure skating for the progress she had made.”

He added, “She just had a passion for everything she did in life. Just singing around the house, she had a beautiful singing voice. I will miss that so much because she just lit up the house with her wonderful voice.”

Andy recalled feeling uneasy when he was on his way to pick up Brielle and Justyna from the airport. 

“When it was time for the plane to land, they hadn’t landed,” he said. “We couldn’t get text messages through. I saw the fire trucks and everything and I knew. I called an air traffic controller friend of mine and she confirmed it was their flight.”

Andy said he had to wait hours to get “official word of what had happened.”

In the absence of his wife and daughter, Andy has been “truthful” with his 6-year-old son about the tragedy. 

“I’m asking if he has any questions,” he explained. “Unfortunately, he just has to relive it. He has to ask the same questions about what happened over and over. But I’m just telling him the truth, that they were in a terrible accident and that they did die.”

Andy added, “I’m just letting him know that he’s loved.”

In conclusion, Andy was asked to reflect on the last conversation he had with his daughter. 

“We were excited that she was going to be coming home. I missed them,” he said. “They were gone for six days before this happened. I really missed them. I live my life for my family. Figure skating at that level, it’s a lifestyle. It’s a whole family commitment. It takes a lot. We had a great group of coaches and other skaters that were our second family.”

Brielle was one of at least 14 figure skaters returning from Wichita who died in the plane crash. In total, at least 60 passengers and four crew members were killed.

Wynonna Judd is opening up about what life is like raising her granddaughter, Kaliyah.

“I don’t have a computer. I don’t watch television unless it’s planned ‘cause I’m raising my 2 ½-year-old granddaughter,’ Judd, 60, shared on the Thursday, January 30, episode of Today With Jenna & Friends. “I listen to her, so I don’t really do a lot of Instagram.”

While Kaliyah doesn’t tune in to the popular kids’ show Bluey, Judd said her granddaughter is a big fan of the popular children’s entertainer Ms. Rachel. “I’m about to lose my mind,” she joked. “I can’t talk like that. I wish I could be that animated, but I just don’t know how.”

One of Kaliyah’s favorite shows that Judd said she does enjoy is Peppa Pig. “I love Peppa, but we watch all those shows,” she shared. “So, I know all about that, but I don’t know about Severance. So, that tells you where I’m at at [60].”

Judd resides with her granddaughter on her Tennessee farm. “My life on the farm is simple and sweet, which is what we need more of, I think,” she gushed to Today’s Jenna Bush Hager. “We don’t do phones at dinner. … I do what I have to do to learn how to just live off the road ‘cause I was on the road at 17. So, I never got to learn how to do life outside of show business. So, now I’m learning.”

Judd went on to note that her ideal day at home involves cooking and spending time with her loved ones. “Food, family and fun is my goal,” she stated.

Judd shares her son Elijah, 30, and daughter Grace, 28, with her ex-husband Arch Kelley III. Grace gave birth to Kaliyah in April 2022, just days before the death of her grandmother, Naomi Judd.

Judd does not have legal custody of Kaliyah but has taken care of her granddaughter amid Grace’s recent legal troubles. In April 2024, Grace was arrested for indecent exposure for flashing drivers off a highway and was charged with soliciting prostitution, indecent exposure and obstructing governmental operations. Her soliciting prostitution was reportedly dropped, while indecent exposure charge was lowered to public lewdness, according to The Daily News. She was ordered to pay $2000 and spend 60 days in jail.

That August, Grace was arrested on three charges, including attempting to flee police, driving with a suspended or revoked license and not properly operating motorcycle equipment, per court documents obtained by Us Weekly at the time. She was released the following day on a $2,750 bond.

Grace was arrested once again in October 2024 for stealing a church van in Charlottesville, Virginia. According to local news outlet The Daily Progress, Grace pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor crimes after initially being booked on seven charges. Three of the charges were reportedly felonies, including testing positive for heroin.

Judd previously opened up to Us about raising Kaliyah in June 2024, revealing she and her granddaughter “started singing together.” She exclusively shared, “My favorite thing in life is to sit on the porch with her and eat ice cream. She’s in the rocking chair and she [says,] ‘Noni, where are you going? Noni, what are you doing?’”

She continued, “Being with her in those moments [is] where I realized no amount of money can ever make you this happy. I thought it would, but it doesn’t. Lying in the bed with her before bedtime and her putting her nose against mine and me singing to her, and she’s starting to sing back … [it’s] heaven on earth.”

Ant Anstead’s eldest children are clearly mad about their dad’s relationship with Renée Zellweger — and her role in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.

Anstead, 45, attended the London premiere of Zellweger’s film on Wednesday, January 29 with daughter Amelie, 21, and son Archie, 18. (The TV personality shares his eldest children with ex-wife Louise Storey, as well as 5-year-old son Hudson with ex-wife Christina Haack.)

Haack’s bond with both of her ex-husbands improved amid her 2024 divorce from third husband Josh Hall, which is still ongoing.

When we think of the Grammy Awards, we think of Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

Let Us make one thing clear — there’s no pitting these two powerhouses against each other. Both women have broken records and shattered ceilings throughout their careers, and they each dominate at the annual awards show in their own lanes. However, Swift and Beyoncé have frequently gone head-to-head in categories including Album of the Year and Song of the Year, with only one artist capable of coming out on top.

The trend continues with the 2025 Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 2. Beyoncé earned more nominations than any other artist, racking up 11 nods for her album Cowboy Carter. Already the artist with the most wins in Grammys history, Beyoncé’s 2025 entries bumped her career total to 99 nominations, breaking yet another record.

Swift, for her part, became the first woman to earn seven Album of the Year nods following the release of her 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department. She scored an additional five nominations at the 2025 awards, including Song of the Year, marking her eighth time competing in the category.

Over the years, stars have left their mark on the Grammys red carpet with their over-the-top beauty looks.

Lady Gaga made a name for herself by wearing some outrageous ensembles to high-profile events. The singer turned heads when she arrived at the 64th Grammy Awards wearing a one-shoulder black and white gown by Armani Privé. She added: “That was just the beginning of my artistic birth. I started to dress more expressively. I started to go to the library and look through more art books. I took an art history class. I was playing with a band.”

Another star who isn’t afraid to be the talk of the night is Doja Cat, who covered herself in tattoos at the 2024 Grammys. The rapper added even more funk to her look with super arched razor thin brows and a bold red lip.

Roach, 46, snapped a pic of a bridal-esque pair of Christian Louboutin pumps on Thursday, January 31, leaving fans wondering what Zendaya, 28, will wear while tying the knot with Tom Holland.

The white suede shoe, from Zendaya’s collection with the luxury shoe label , featured a steep four-inch stiletto with a curved silhouette and a pointed toe.

Despite Kenya Moore’s departure from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, fans still think she appears in the season 16 trailer.

After Bravo dropped the first look at new episodes earlier this week, social media sleuths claimed they recognized Kenya’s silhouette in one frame.

“Not me,” Kenya, 54, responded to the rumors in a Thursday, January 30, X post.

Kenya joined the cast of RHOA in 2012 and held onto a peach for six seasons. Ahead of season 16, Us Weekly confirmed in June 2024 that the Bravo star would be leaving the series. It was rumored that Kenya was suspended indefinitely after allegedly sharing explicit photos of show newcomer Brittany Eady. Kenya denied the claims.

“I know I’m a tough cookie,” she told Us in November 2024. “I think for me, in the history of me in this whole TV world or reality TV world, I think that what I say always comes to light. Meghan Markle’s best friend Abigail Spencer is weighing in on Netflix’s With Love, Meghan — and teasing what viewers can expect to see.

“What I’m so excited about is that people will really get an authentic look at the woman that I love and know,” Spencer, 43, told People in an interview published on Friday, January 31. “Also, you’re gonna learn a lot.”

Spencer noted that she’s already “learned a lot” from Markle, 43, over the years and that will continue on the forthcoming show. (Their friendship kicked off after Spencer guest starred alongside Markle on Suits.)

“She actually gets to teach me something on the show,” the actress teased. “I’m just so grateful.”

Markle joined Instagram to kick off 2025 and, in the days that followed, announced her new Netflix series. (The upcoming series is the second show Markle and husband Prince Harry have launched as part of their wider deal with Netflix. Their first show, Polo, premiered last month.)

“In each episode, we join Meghan in the kitchen, garden — and even at the beehive — as she prepares to host friends both old and new,” Netflix’s description for the show read. “Whether Meghan is sharing personal tips and tricks, or taking the opportunity to learn something new, it’s a time for connection.”

Netflix also shared that the series shows how Markle, a producer on the show, “reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming” with how-tos and candid conversations with friends.

The show’s trailer, which dropped on January 2, showed Markle in the kitchen alongside some famous friends, including Spencer, Roy Choi, Mindy Kaling, Alice Waters and more. And yes, Prince Harry, 40, was also present.

“I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” Markle said in a statement shared with Netflix’s Tudum on January 12.

Scott Hamilton emotionally reacted to the recent American Airlines plane crash that killed 14 young skaters.

“It’s been overwhelming,” Hamilton, 66, said through tears during the Friday, January 31, episode of the Today show. “It’s beyond the skating community. So many people see this tragedy and the loss of these brilliant young skaters who have poured their lives into building an identity in our sport. For their lives to be taken … is just devastating [and] shocking. It just doesn’t make any sense.”

He added, “This is where the community comes together. It’s a very tight-knit, very close-knit, very wonderful, caring, supportive community. We’re no stranger to tragedy, but this is just beyond devastation.”

News broke on Wednesday, January 29, that a commercial flight traveling from Wichita, Kansas crashed into Washington, D.C.’s Potomac River after a collision with a military helicopter. The U.S. Figure Skating organization later confirmed that 14 of its young athletes were onboard.

“U.S. Figure Skating can confirm that several members of our skating community were sadly aboard American Airlines Flight 5342, which collided with a helicopter yesterday evening in Washington, D.C.” a statement from the skating organization read on Thursday. “These athletes, coaches and family members were returning home from National Development Camp held in conjunction with the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Wichita, Kansas.”

The statement added, “We are devastated by this unspeakable tragedy and hold the victims’ families closely in our hearts. We will continue to monitor the situation and will release more information as it becomes available.”

The young skaters were joined by parents, coaches and approximately 40 other passengers and four crew members. Among the victims were Skating Club of Boston coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, whom Hamilton met during the 1994 Olympics.

“When you’re in skating, there are no national boundaries,” Hamilton, who won one Olympic gold medal in the sport, recalled of the “wonderful and kind” couple. “We all have a shared experience and we understand what it takes to get to that level. Shishkova and Naumov were amazing champion skaters [who wanted] to build their professional lives in America.”

He continued, “To think that they’re gone. … I can’t wrap my head around the last 36 hours. It’s just been devastating. The loss is just beyond description and my heart is shattered.”

Shishkova and Naumov shared son Maxim, an aspiring skater himself but wasn’t onboard the American Airlines flight.

“Max, he’s an extraordinary talent. A few years ago at one of our Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer events, he put on a skin-head wig and skated to ‘Walk This Way’ in tribute to me,” Hamilton said, referring to his cancer battle. “He’s got a great sense of humor. I actually sat with him for a nice visit in Wichita. … It’s just unthinkable what’s happened.”

Lindsay Arnold has shared a major update on her recent breast augmentation.

The former Dancing With the Stars pro, 31, uploaded a before and after video via TikTok on Thursday, January 30. Arnold captioned the clip with a series of monkey emojis with their hands covering their eyes and two happy face emojis.

Arnold also included a series of hashtags in the caption, noting that she was two weeks post-op. Several of Arnold’s former DWTS costars offered her words of encouragement in the comments section.

Arnold first shared her plans to get a breast augmentation in December 2024, revealing that it was her Christmas present.

“It’s something I’m very excited about,” she said in a TikTok video at the time. “I know there’s mixed opinions on this type of thing, and so I get it. … If it’s not for you, it’s not for you.”

Arnold explained that she had planned to get the surgery after she was “done having kids.” The professional dancer and husband Sam Cusick share daughters Sage, 4, and June, 20 months.

“I just decided I didn’t want to wait,” she continued. “Obviously, [I] know there are chances I’d maybe need to get a lift later on in life or whatever, but I just don’t want to wait anymore. … We’re just putting [family planning] on pause a bit longer.”

“I can’t believe this is actually happening!” she told followers on January 14, before sharing a “fun fact” from her childhood that was related to her surgery.

“When I was in high school there was a rumor that went around that I got a boob job and that my dad is the one who gave me my boob job,” she recalled. “My dad is not a plastic surgeon.”
