Aubrey Plaza and family are paying tribute to Jeff Baena.
“It is with profound sadness and grief that we announce the sudden and unexpected death of Jeff Baena, a beloved son, husband, brother, uncle and friend to many,” Baena’s obituary, which was published in the Miami Herald, read. “Jeff left us too soon but despite his woefully too-short life, he left us with treasured memories of a gifted filmmaker, as well as a very special person on so many different levels.”
While the obit honored Baena for his credits in the entertainment industry, his loved ones shared some insight on how he found his passion for film which he “fell in love with” when he was “11 years old watching A Clockwork Orange and Felini’s 8 1/2.”
“Each of his films reflects a carefully crafted balance of the logical and the implausible. His juxtaposition of intellect and creativity challenged us. He embraced independent film making because of his unalterable distaste for institutional guardrails on creativity,” the message continued. “Those who worked with him praise his vision, taste, technical competence, and ability to coalesce actors into an ensemble that performs in perfect harmony. A family atmosphere always ensued. He loved nature and highlighted it cinema-graphically in his films whenever and wherever possible.”
In addition to work, which he did a lot with Plaza, Baena also “loved the company of his friends.”
“Jeff was a true relationship builder with a gift for bringing people together on and off the movie set,” the obit said. “His magic sauce was ensuring everyone was having fun and no one ever left his get-togethers as a stranger.”
Baena’s obituary also revealed that he also had an affinity for the novel, The Little Prince, and included a touching quote from the beloved children’s book.

“When he was a boy, Jeff loved reading The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Ironically, in it, the Little Prince exclaims, ‘I haven’t much time. I have friends to find and so many things to learn.’ And so it was for Jeff,” the post read.
Baena is survived by Plaza, his parents, siblings, nephews and nieces.
“We shall always love and deeply miss Jeff,” the obit concluded. “His presence, as well as his work, made the world feel better. He had lots more to offer. Alas, all that is gone. Sweet dreams, our Little Prince.”
Baena died on January 3. He was 47 years old. According to medical examiner records reviewed by Us Weekly, Baena’s official cause of death is listed as suicide. After news broke of Baena’s passing, Plaza’s rep released a statement on her behalf.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy,” the statement to Us read. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”

The couple started out as two friends in Texas who went to school together. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback became close with Matthews in 2011 when he was just a freshman at Whitehouse High School.
After dating for several years, the pair attended different colleges but remained an item.
“He ended up going to Texas Tech, and that’s when it really hit me, ‘Oh s—t, he might go play professional football,” Matthews told Today in December 2020 of her then-fiancé’s football skills. “It was surreal to see him living his dream and seeing him grow as an athlete and as a man in general was just amazing.”
They cemented their relationship in March 2022 when they said “I do” in Hawaii. Mahomes and Matthews have since embraced married life — and the craziness that comes with raising three children.

The Texas teens started dating in March 2012 when Mahomes was a sophomore and Matthews was a junior at Whitehouse High School in East Texas. The pair were friends for a year before Mahomes gave Matthews a Valentine’s Day card and a rose in the cafeteria, which resulted in the soccer player considering him as a romantic prospect.
The couple attended multiple school dances together including Matthews’ senior prom in May 2013.“Best prom date a guy could ask for!! #prom2013 #bestfriend #greatnight,” the quarterback captioned a collage of photos from the night via Instagram.
The pair kept their romance alive while attending different colleges in Texas. Mahomes played football at Texas Tech University from 2014 to 2017, while Matthews played soccer for the University of Texas at Tyler from 2013 to 2017.
Mahomes chose to forgo his final year of eligibility as a college quarterback to enter the NFL draft in April 2017. He was picked by the Kansas City Chiefs as their first-round pick and the 10th overall pick. “Officially a Kansas City Chiefs fan! I'm so proud of you Patrick!” Matthews wrote via Instagram at the time. “I cannot wait to take on this amazing journey by your side!❤️ I love you lots!”
A month after her love signed with the Chiefs, Matthews landed her own deal with Iceland’s pro soccer team. Mahomes was by her side in May 2017 when she signed the contract.
After two seasons with the Chiefs, the couple bought a home together in May 2019 in Kansas City. The nearly $2 million home has three bedrooms, three baths, a home gym and pool, according to Bizjournals.com.
The couple celebrated Kansas City’s Super Bowl win in February 2020 with an on-field kiss and lots of confetti. “I am so beyond proud of this dude and this team, all year it was about battling, amazing comebacks and overcoming an injury, and for that YOU DESERVE THIS,” Matthews captioned a series of photos after the victory.
“8 years ago, you played safety & I was a cheerleader in a small town called Whitehouse, TX,” the fitness trainer wrote via Instagram in March 2020, celebrating the couple’s 8-year anniversary. “Oh how times have changed! Love you❤️.”
After more than eight years together, the professional athlete proposed to Matthews in September 2020. Mahomes got down on one knee in a VIP box at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City in front of an illuminated sign that read, “Will You Marry Me?” There was also a massive floral display and a candlelight dinner to follow.
Weeks after getting engaged, the couple announced in September 2020 that they are expecting their first child together. “Mom & Dad, taking a small detour to the wedding❤️,” the bride-to-be wrote via Instagram alongside a photo of the pair holding a sonogram.
The soon-to-be parents revealed in October 2020 that they are having a baby girl. The pair set off confetti poppers while their friends and loved ones virtually watched the announcement.

Matthews celebrated after the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round NFL playoff game. The fitness guru popped a bottle of champagne and sprayed fans in the Missouri stadium. "Oops 🤷🏻♀️ #LETSGOOOOO," she captioned the clip via Twitter.
In their joint Instagram post announcing Matthews' pregnancy, she and Mahomes revealed they are ready for "Round 2!" with their second child. The couple posed for multiple photos with their daughter, Sterling, who wore a shirt that read, "I Have a Secret to Tell You." She then changed into a different shirt emblazoned with the phrase, "Big Sister."

Matthews, for her part, said in the team’s statement that she is "so thrilled to make this a family affair.” She noted that her husband” has been a huge supporter behind-the-scenes. His passion for the Current is undeniable and I am glad that he will be with us as we continue on our journey to become the best in the NWSL."

The couple reminisced about the start of their relationship during episode 1 of Netflix’s Quarterback docuseries, which premiered on July 12. “We kinda met in seventh, eighth grade,” Mahomes recalled in the documentary. “She was the grade above me, I was kind of the best friend, in the friend zone forever.”
It wasn’t until Mahomes gifted Matthews a rose on Valentine’s Day during his sophomore year of high school that he upgraded from her friend to boyfriend. “He thought it was a joke,” Matthews said of the gesture. “I thought it was the cutest thing in the world. And then everyone at our lunch table started chanting, ‘Kiss him, kiss him,’ and made it really awkward cause we were ‘just friends’ so that’s kind of what started it and then I thought it was cute.”
Patrick led the Chiefs to their second consecutive Super Bowl victory before Brittany joined him on the field for the Lombardi Trophy presentation. She brought kids Sterling and Bronze with them, as well as Patrick’s mother, Randi, and brother Jackson.

Head coach Marcus Freeman made a meaningful change in his personal life after his professional journey took him to Notre Dame.
Less than a year after becoming the head football coach at the South Bend, Indiana university in December 2021, Freeman, 39, made the decision to convert to Catholicism.
During a media call in September 2022, Freeman called it “a family decision, a personal decision.”
According to the South Bend Tribune, Freeman was raised in the Christian and Korean church traditions — Freeman’s mother, Chong, was born in South Korea — and his wife, Joanna Freeman, and their children were already practicing Catholics.
Marcus and Joanna, who got married in 2010, share six kids: son Vinny, 17, daughter Siena, 12, son Gino, 11, son Nico, 9, daughter Capri, 7, and son Rocco, 6.
“I tried to keep it as private as I could,” Freeman said of his religious conversion. “Obviously, when you’re head coach at Notre Dame, nothing is private.”
The development was first announced in the bulletin of Freeman’s church, Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Granger, Indiana.
“Welcome to our newest Catholic, Marcus Freeman,” the bulletin read, which was obtained by the Tribune. “[Father] Bill recently concelebrated in a Mass where Marcus Freeman was received into the Catholic Church. After preparing with [Father] Nate Wills, C.S.C., chaplain of the Notre Dame football team, Marcus made a profession of faith, was confirmed, and received his First Holy Communion.”

Before he converted, Freeman reinstated the tradition of pre-game Mass for the Notre Dame football team for the first time in 11 years.
“What better time is there to go have Mass?” he asked the National Catholic Register in August 2022. “What better time to be able to really be on the edge of your seat to get every word that comes out of the priest’s mouth and to be as close to God as you can?”
Freeman added, “That’s important for me. I want our guys to wonder about what it means to embrace Jesus Christ.”
The coach and his program are currently preparing to face The Ohio State University in the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday, January 20 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, attempting to secure Notre Dame’s first national title since 1988.
After Freeman’s squad defeated Penn State in the Orange Bowl on Thursday, January 9, securing their place in the title game, Freeman became the first Black coach to ever lead his team to the National Championship — but he had no desire to hog the spotlight.
“I’ve said this before, I don’t ever want to take attention away from the team,” Freeman told ESPN’s Molly McGrath. “It is an honor, and I hope all coaches — minorities, Black, Asian, white, it doesn’t matter, great people — continue to get opportunities to lead young men like this. But this ain’t about me. This is about us. We’re going to celebrate what we’ve done because it’s so special.”

The reality star exclusively confirmed to Us Weekly on Monday, January 13, that she is looking for love again — this time in South Africa.
“Coming back for All Stars is a homecoming and a full circle moment for me,” Ekin-Su, 30, told Us. “It’s about rewriting my story, overcoming traumas and having a good laugh along the way. I’m returning with more perspective — being older and wiser — and I’m ready for everyone to get to know Ekin 2.0.”
Fans were introduced to Ekin-Su in 2022 during season 8 of Love Island. Although she was crowned the winner alongside Davide Sanclimenti, the pair didn’t secure that coveted happily ever after once the cameras stopped rolling.
“My life has changed so much since 2022,” she explained. “I’ve become much more confident in who I am and now know exactly what I deserve in a relationship.”
While it’s unclear if Davide, 30, will make an appearance in season 2 of Love Island: All Stars, Ekin-Su isn’t scared of or nervous about the possibility of potentially facing any of her exes.
Instead, she vowed to “follow my heart and my gut and see what comes of it.”
“I wouldn’t let seeing my ex in the villa impact my experience,” Ekin-Su shared with Us. “My previous relationship is over for a reason and I don’t have any interest in revisiting it. I’m focused on myself and my future — leaving the past in the past. Onwards and upwards!”

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomesand his wife, Brittany Mahomes, have kept up with a theme when it comes to baby names.
After getting engaged in September 2020, the couple announced they were expecting their first child. Patrick and Brittany welcomed daughter Sterling Skye in February 2021. The pair tied the knot in March 2022 and added son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III to their family that November.
“My second child, Patrick Mahomes III. I have to say his real name or his dad will get mad,” Brittany explained on the Kelly Clarkson Show in January 2024. “His name is Patrick [and] we call him Bronze.” (The NFL player’s full name is Patrick Lavon Mahomes II and he was named after his father, Pat Mahomes Sr.)

Sterling Was Initially Meant for Their Dog

Brittany shared the origins of Sterling’s name during an Instagram Story Q&A in April 2023. “I got Steel in college and named him that,” she explained of the couple’s older dog. “We then got our second dog and was gonna name her Sterling because it went with Steel perfect.”
Brittany continued, “Then I said no, I want that to be my daughter’s name, so then we came up with Silver to go with Steel.”
Brittany explained that they were “already set on Sterling” when they were expecting their daughter. “Then having a boy and him being Patrick Mahomes III, Bronze was just meant to be and went perfect,” she wrote.

Patrick shared that he initially had another name in mind for his son. “We were going with Trey at first because the third obviously and everything like that,” he explained while speaking on The Drive on Audacy’s 610 Sports Radio (Kansas City) in December 2022, per People.

While keeping in the family’s tradition, Bronze’s moniker happened by chance. “My brother Jackson [Mahomes], whenever we were trying to find something that was a little unique and different, he said, ‘What about Bronze? It fits perfectly with Sterling,’” Patrick said during a press conference in November 2022. “So, we went with that.”
He continued, “It works out well. He can have his own thing now where he’s not Patrick, he’s Bronze, even though he’s Patrick. And, Sterling and Bronze can have that connection moving forward.”
Girls Next Door alum Kendra Wilkinson defended her appearance after facing criticism online about her weight. The 39-year-old took to Instagram on Sunday, January 12, to share a full-length photo showing off her physique. “Yes, I’ve gained weight. Yes, I’m aging. When Craig Melvin was announced as Hoda Kotb’s replacement on the Today show for 2025, coanchor Savannah Guthrie and the entire NBC family were quick to celebrate the news.
At the time, Kotb herself told Melvin — who has worked for NBC since 2011 and joined Today as a weekday news anchor in 2018 — he was “made for this job,” adding, “You are that kind of good. You have all the things that this job needs. You’re the right person for it.”
Melvin’s family outside of work has been just as supportive.
“My heart is honestly bursting. Craig Melvin – I am so proud of you and so beyond grateful for the man you are,” his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, wrote via Instagram in November 2024, shortly after news of his new gig broke. “The opportunity to watch the person you love see their dream come true is such a gift. I will never forget this day and the crowds’ excitement to share your good news.”
Melvin and Czarniak met in 2008 and tied the knot three years later. The pair share son Delano and daughter Sybil, who were born in 2014 and 2016, respectively. Melvin’s relationship with his kids has been shaped by his own upbringing, from his hardworking and supportive mother to his father, who struggled with addiction but is now one of the most important figures in his life.

Melvin and Czarniak met while both were working in the news industry in Washington, D.C. After more than a year of friendship, Melvin finally asked her on a date in July 2009.
“That night when we met, there was something that clicked. And it wasn’t necessarily that I knew, ‘I have to be with this guy.’ But it was like, ‘I don’t want to be with anyone else that I’d hung out with,’” Czarniak recalled to the Washington Post in 2011.
Three years after they tied the knot, Melvin and Czarniak welcomed son Delano in March 2014, then daughter Sybil in November 2016. On Father’s Day 2024, Czarniak said her husband “crushes the role of fatherhood despite the wildest schedule on a daily basis” in an Instagram post.
Czarniak currently works for Fox as an NFL and NASCAR reporter. She was previously a Sports Center anchor on ESPN and has covered everything from the Olympics to the Daytona 500.

Melvin credits his son with inspiring his latest children’s book, “I’m Proud of You,” released in May 2024.
“A few years ago, I found myself marveling at Delano on the high dive,” he told Good Housekeeping at the time. “He was trying to conquer his fear and jump off for the first time. When he did it, I saw how proud he was and how proud my wife and I were, and I thought, ‘we should document this.’”
The day Delano turned 10, Melvin and Czarniak honored him in a joint Instagram post.
“In the blink of an eye our little boy went from the baby who made us parents to the fun loving, caring 10 year old kid we adore,” they wrote. “I think one of the coolest things is when you find yourself just really enjoying the time you get to spend together as they grow, experiencing the things they love and seeing it all through their eyes.”
Melvin told People that Delano played a role in naming his younger sister. While Cznarniak was pregnant with her, the family referred to the baby as “Sibby,” for Delano’s younger sibling. The family soon grew to love the name and it turned into Sibyl.
Melvin and Czarniak have described their youngest as athletic and “the life of the party,” according to Hello Magazine. Melvin added that Sybil’s confidence, even at eight years old, makes him “teary.”
Lawrence Melvin
Craig and his father, Lawrence, have had a complicated history. The anchor was open about his dad’s struggles with addiction in his book, “POPS: Learning to be a Son and a Father,” published in 2021. The book recalls the times Lawrence did not show up for Craig and his siblings, earning him the nickname “Ghost” among Craig’s friends.
“The nickname really bugged me,” Craig wrote. “Most of my other friends, their dads were present. I had written mine off. It got to a point where I thought, ‘Oh damn it to hell. I got a dad, but I don’t really have a dad.’ He was like a ghost: there, but not there.”
Today, their relationship is different as Lawrence is “PopPop” to Delano and Sibyl.
“He overcame addictions in his life,” Craig said on the November 2024 episode of Today. “He’s become one of my favorite human beings.”
After Craig wrote POP, he said he felt guilty for not including his mother in the title when she has been the most consistent figure in his life.
“The reality is, for most of my life, she played the role of Mom AND Pops,” he said. “And here, I wrote 200-plus pages celebrating fatherhood and celebrating my dad climbing this mountain. And the reality is, I would not be where I am professionally and personally had it not been for my mother.”
Betty was the first in Craig’s family to graduate from college and later worked as a teacher, then bank teller. At a time when Lawrence was struggling the most, squandering money on drugs, alcohol and gambling, Betty Jo got a Master’s degree and took a second job to help make ends meet.
Craig’s older brother Lawerence died in 2020 at age 43 after a four-year battle with colon cancer. Lawrence was a minister who co-owned a funeral home in South Carolina and held a Master’s in divinity and Doctorate in ministry from Gardner-Webb University.
After his brother’s death, Craig partnered with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance to raise money for colon cancer research and family support.
“The reality is, had Lawrence gotten checked earlier, he might still be with us,” Craig told People. “But we didn’t know about our family history and there were signs that he ignored.”
Ryan Melvin
Craig’s younger brother has joined the Today anchor on TV several times, including in 2022 when Ryan learned to swim at age 36 as a way to promote how important it is to be comfortable in the water. Ryan also let Today tag along when he got a colonoscopy in 2021 to raise awareness for the procedure after losing his older brother to colon cancer.
“Mom and Dad, taking a small detour to the wedding,” Brittany captioned the September 2020 social media upload, while her then-fiancé captioned a post of his own with a heart emoji.
In July 2024, Brittany and the Kansas City Chiefs player revealed they are expecting baby No. 3. “Round three, here we come,” read the pair’s joint announcement.
Brittany and Patrick announced that the third member of their family, daughter Golden, arrived in January 2025.

News broke of Underwood’s gig on Monday, January 13, after reporter Matthew Foldi shared a leaked copy of the program for the event via X.
On the paper, Underwood, 41, is listed as singing “America the Beautiful” during the January 20 inauguration and will be joined by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.
“I love our country & am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said in a statement, per a CNN correspondent. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
A spokesperson for the Presidential Inaugural Committee confirmed the news to Deadline. Us Weekly reached out to Underwood’s rep for comment.

The performance comes two months before Underwood is set to return to American Idolas a judge. ABC confirmed in August 2024 that Underwood would be taking over for Katy Perry on the show, joining LionelRichie and Luke Bryan.
“I went from nobody knowing my name to tens of millions of people watching the show,” Underwood said in a video announcing her role. “I’m proud of everything that I was able to accomplish on the show and I’m so proud of everything I’ve accomplished since.”
Executive producer Megan Wolflick opened up about why they chose Underwood, who won the reality singing competition in 2005.
“Well, it is 20 years since she auditioned in St. Louis for American Idol, and to have the first-ever Idol alum on the panel has always been something that’s been interesting to me,” Wolflick told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “She is our queen, she is our icon of American Idol.”
Wolflick explained that they had been searching “and obviously talking to Carrie for a little bit here.” She added, “It has been a little over two months since the [season 22] finale, but these talks have been going on for a while and we’ve been really excited to make it all happen.”
Wolflick gushed that longtime host Ryan Seacrest, who has been on the show every season since the premiere, is looking forward to welcoming Underwood back.
“Ryan couldn’t be more excited, since he has been there every step of the way with Carrie,” Wolflick said. “He was like just over the moon about it.”
She continued, “It’s a new era of the show and every new chapter of American Idol. When we open up that first page, it is just as exciting as closing a chapter, and I cannot wait to embark on this journey with our first Idol alum with the panel.”
Lucy Liu has no regrets about standing up for herself to costar Bill Murray on the set of the 2000 action film Charlie’s Angels.
“I really didn’t think about it. I would have done that in any situation,” Liu, 56, shared in an interview with The Guardian published on Monday, January 13. “I think when I sense something is not right, I am going to protect myself. It’s an innate thing to do if you feel there’s injustice, and I always feel that way.”
“As we’re doing the scene, Bill starts to sort of hurl insults, and I won’t get into the specifics, but it kept going on and on. I was, like, ‘Wow, he seems like he’s looking straight at me,’” she alleged at the time. “I couldn’t believe that [the comments] could be towards me, because what do I have to do with anything majorly important at that time? I literally do the look around my shoulder thing, like, who is he talking to behind me? I say, ‘I’m so sorry. Are you talking to me?’ And clearly he was, because then it started to become a one-on-one communication.”
She went on to note that she had “nothing against Bill Murray” and had even run into him at a Saturday Night Live reunion event. “He came up to me and was perfectly nice,” she stated. “But I’m not going to sit there and be attacked.” (Us Weekly reached out to Murray’s reps for comment at the time.)
Liu’s comments came years after rumors swirled that the actress and Murray clashed on the Charlie’s Angels set. “Look, I will dismiss you completely if you are unprofessional and working with me,” Murray told the Times of London of the feud speculation in 2009.

In her Monday interview with The Guardian, Liu noted that she would have walked “a much easier road” in Hollywood if she didn’t speak up for herself.

Tyler Henry continues to grab the attention of skeptics and believers alike — especially when some of his most incredible predictions turn out to be true.
Since 2016, the clairvoyant medium has been delivering prophetic messages to celebrities through a variety of reality TV shows, including Hollywood Medium and Life After Death.
While many stars walk away with messages from their deceased loved ones, some receive specific predictions from Henry about what their future could hold. .
In October 2024, Ricki Lake appeared on Life After Death With Tyler Henry and received a warning from Henry, who cautioned that the former television host could “lose something” from “fire and water.”

“He is acknowledging that he’s with a child on the other side that hasn’t been born yet but what’s interesting is this child will be born over the course of the next two years,” Henry said. “I don’t know who it’s for, but it’s coming through.”
In 2017, Brie welcomed her first child with husband Daniel Bryan.
Thicke received a personal message from Henry about his health.
“For the men in your family, it’s really good to just take into consideration that blood pressure is going to be something that we really have to keep in mind,” Henry shared in a May 2017 episode of Hollywood Medium. “Heart issues — they happen to men, it’s not uncommon. When it comes to a family and a gene perspective, it’s possible that within your family there might be multiple men who end up at a later age dealing with blood pressure issues, but also deal with either a heart murmur or heart arrhythmia.”
The Growing Pains star ultimately died in December 2016 at the age of 69 from a ruptured aorta.

“I really am feeling like love life is not the area right now that is reaching its peak,” Henry said. “One of the challenges that’s coming through is a referral of ultimately being distant, but in a physical sense. …Two people’s schedules would not be ideal for kind of a cohesive relationship.”

As for Brittany, she raved over her experience as a mother in March 2024. “I think I’ve been called to be a mom ever since I was little,” she told SheKnows at the time. “Just seeing my kids grow up and the things that they’re learning and the things that they’re taking from their dad … when we have first experiences with them, taking them somewhere, seeing them happy and lit up and in good spirits when we do stuff, is probably the biggest thing that I enjoy.”
Ben Affleck is not in any trouble with the law despite getting a visit from the FBI and Los Angeles Police Department.
“Members of the FBI‘s Ground Intercept task force are conducting activity in the area of the Palisades fire relative to unauthorized drone activity,” a representative from the FBI’s press relations told Page Six in a statement on Monday, January 13. “Agents and our local partners may be visible throughout the area, including at various residences, for this reason.”
Photos obtained by multiple outlets showed FBI agents standing outside of Affleck’s Brentwood home on Sunday, January 12. TMZ reported at the time that law enforcement was investigating an incident regarding a private drone and firefighting aircraft and Page Six added that the agents were seeking potential CCTV footage from Affleck’s home.
The news came amid the ongoing wildfires impacting those living in the Los Angeles area, including various celebrities who have been forced to evacuate their homes. A wind storm caused by the Santa Ana gusts started the brush fires on January 7. The fires have continued to escalate, killing at least 24 people so far. Certain areas of L.A., including Pacific Palisades, have been impacted.

Lopez, 55, filed for divorce from Affleck in August 2024 after two years of marriage. She submitted the paperwork on the anniversary of their Georgia wedding, despite being separated since April 2024. Court documents obtained by Us on January 6 confirmed that the former couple had finalized their divorce.
Both parties “agreed to divide all assets and liabilities” to avoid further litigation and expenses, the court documents stated. Lopez kept her personal belongings and earnings from their date of separation, plus half of their bank accounts. Affleck received the same. Their $60 million mansion, which is currently on the market, will be divided between them. Specific terms were not revealed.
Their divorce was settled by mediation in September 2024 and, at the time, Lopez requested to drop Affleck from her name. Details of the divorce also state that Lopez will get to keep all the items “individually or by entities of which [Lopez] is the sole owner, member or shareholder.”
Affleck, for his part, will keep his interest in the Artists Equity production company, which was founded in 2022 alongside longtime friend Matt Damon. He “shall pay, indemnify and hold [Lopez] harmless from any and all liabilities, claims, debts, actions, causes of action and/or tax liabilities associated with” the company, the docs read.
During an appearance on the “Like A Farmer Podcast” on Sunday, January 12, Thomas, 21, was asked to name “the biggest celebrity” to reach out after the November 2024 boxing match.
“I have some names, I just don’t know that I want to expose them,” Thomas said with a laugh.
Podcast host Pat Spinosa encouraged Thomas to be candid, saying, “It’s not a bad thing, they might have just reached out and said hello.”
Thomas ultimately declined to answer, so she was then asked to at least reveal the “craziest DM” she’s received since the fight.
“We’ll just say this,” said Thomas, currently a student at the University of Alabama. “It was from another SEC football team coach. They just DM’d me ‘Roll Tide.’”
“Roll Tide” is the rallying cry used by Alabama fans, a reference to the school’s nickname, the Crimson Tide. SEC is short for Southeastern Conference, the athletic conference home to Alabama and schools like Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma and LSU.
“I’m not going to say what coach it was, but they’re an Alabama fan now at least,” Thomas added. “We’ll let everyone else figure out who it was.”
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly shortly after the fight, Thomas hinted that some celebrities have already attempted to shoot their shot with the college student.
“My DMs are just insanely flooded right now,” Thomas said in November. “There’s definitely been some pretty big names and brands that have reached out.”
While Thomas said she didn’t want to disclose any of the names for “privacy reasons,” she joked that “the DMs and all that are just going crazy right now.”
When she woke up the morning after the fight, Thomas said she instantly knew her life had dramatically changed.
“I woke up and saw how my followers had gone up, and then saw all the news articles that had been written about me,” Thomas told Us. “I refreshed my feed and it was just pictures of me and memes and everything. I think that was the moment for me where I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, like I really am going viral.’”
Thomas added, “It is very overwhelming. But at the same time, I’m also very blessed and very grateful. You know, what a ‘problem’ to have.”
The college student — who plans on graduating in spring 2025 with a degree in management and entrepreneurship — has been proactive in making the most of her viral fame.
In December 2024, Thomas signed with CAA Sports, a talent agency that represents athletes including MLB star Shohei Ohtani, NBA star Devin Booker, NHL star Sidney Crosby and WNBA star Cameron Brink.
