Malin Akerman Teases 'Hunting Wives' Sexual Tension With Brittany Snow
Netflix’s adaptation of May Cobb’s The Hunting Wives hinges on the onscreen sexual chemistry between Malin Åkerman and Brittany Snow’s characters, which couldn’t have been easier for them to bring to life.
“We were really aware of that and we really thought we have to bring the audience in. We have to make this believable. Luckily, I adore Brittany as a person and as a human being,” Åkerman, 47, teased during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. “We have had a lot of laughs around this crazy ride and what we have to bring to the table and how to portray these characters.”
Åkerman’s friendship with Snow, 39, helped develop the relationship between their respective characters, Margo Banks and Sophie O’Neil.
“This was really easy — at least for the first few episodes — where what you’re seeing on screen might just be the excitement of a new friendship that’s budding in real life that’s coming through on camera,” she continued. “Also that helps with any intimate scenes because we started building this trust together as women and as friends. We just made it fun and realized that we’re making a TV show. It’s nothing more than that. We’re having a good time and let’s make it that way because that’s what hopefully goes out into the world.”
'One Day' and More TV Shows Based on Popular Books
The Hunting Wives, which premieres on Monday, July 21, follows Sophie (Snow) who “moves to a deep East Texas town with her family and becomes drawn” to a prominent socialite a.k.a Åkerman’s Margo.

“That was the role that I was offered. What that says about me, I don’t know. I’d read all eight episodes and loved it and I was the first person to get cast on this show. They just said, ‘We can’t see anyone else but you in this role.’ But they were so gracious and so wonderful and it definitely is a dynamic role,” Åkerman teased. “It has many layers and it is all the juicy stuff that you want in a role.”
She continued: “I was privy to all eight episodes, which is really helpful. Because a lot of times when you are on the journey of getting a TV show made you usually just get the pilot episode. That doesn’t give you the character arc and it doesn’t give you the real detail into who this person is that you’re going to be playing.”
Åkerman noted that Margo’s journey will be “really vast and wide and wild,” adding, “I really wanted to play her because she’s so different from how I operate in my own life. I love diverting the code. I love when you see actors in a very different role than you’re used to them in. For me, that’s really wonderful to watch.”
While previewing the show, Åkerman hinted what is to come between Margo and Sophie.
Us Breaks Down Casting Choices for 9 Highly Anticipated Book Adaptations
“If I were to peg Margo, I think she’s a master manipulator. There’s an agenda behind everything she does. So for me, as Sophie comes into her world, it’s like Margo’s shiny new toy,” she teased. “It is someone to conquer and to have control over her.”
Åkerman noted that Margo is also “attracted” to Sophie.
“Margo is just surprised by her own feelings. Sophie sees this woman who’s so opposite of her and so free and so wild and alive,” she added. “It’s what Sophie aspires to be and wants to be around it and wants to become more like that. They have very different approaches to the relationship that they’re building and it ends up going in many different directions that we couldn’t ever imagine. It’s a complicated relationship — but a really fun one to watch unfold.”

Astronomer Cofounder Describes Working With ‘Professional’ Andy Byron
Astronomer cofounder Ry Walker described the company’s CEO, Andy Byron, as “professional” following the Coldplay concert kiss cam scandal.
“Answered a couple questions today priviately [sic], figure I should post it here as well since I can’t respond to everyone individually,” Walker wrote via X on Friday, July 18. “I’ve found Andy to be professional, I’ve only ever been on a call with him once.”
Walker, who left the tech firm in 2022, added that those he’s spoken to on the Astronomer staff largely approve of Byron’s leadership.
“Everyone on the team has praised his leadership to me. So I think this is an unfortunate development that comes as a big surprise,” he clarified.
Why the World Is Obsessed With Coldplay’s Jumbotron Affair Drama
Byron and Astronomer’s chief people officer Kristin Cabot went viral after attending a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, July 16. During a kiss cam segment, the married CEO was caught on camera with his arms wrapped around Cabot’s waist before both tried to duck out of sight when they realized they were on the jumbotron. (Byron is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron.)
Walker initially spoke out to deny that he had any involvement in the incident after the footage went viral.
“For those asking — I’m no longer involved in @astronomerio — yes I was co-founder and early CEO — not on the team or board since 2022, and have no information on ColdplayGate,” he insisted via X.
The former Astronomer CEO went even further by assuring followers that he’d “definitely” never been to a Coldplay concert, as well as revealing that he doesn’t even listen to their music.
“I have 704 liked songs in Spotify — none are Coldplay, but I do think Chris Martin is an amazing vocalist,” he wrote via X.

Since the footage went viral, several fake public apologies attributed to Byron have circulated via social media. Astronomer broke its silence on the controversy to confirm a widely-circulated apology was “not a real statement” from Byron.
In the fake message, the CEO was purported to have shifted the blame on Coldplay: “I also want to express how troubling it is that what should have been a private moment became public without my consent.”
The fake statement went on to quote Coldplay’s song “Fix You,” continuing: “I respect artists and entertainers, but I hope we can all think more deeply about the impact of turning someone else’s life into a spectacle … As a friend once sang: ‘Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.’”
Byron has yet to publicly address the matter. Us Weekly has reached out to Astronomer and both executives for comment.
Coldplay Jumbotron Seemingly Exposes Astronomer CEO’s Affair
The fan who originally shot the viral footage — a woman identified as Grace — told The Sun on Friday that she had “no idea” who Byron and Cabot were when she posted the video.
“[I] just thought I caught an interesting reaction to the kiss cam and decided to post it,” Grace acknowledged. “A part of me feels bad for turning these people’s lives upside down, but, play stupid games … win stupid prizes.”
Grace expressed her hope that Byron and Cabot’s partners will “heal from this” viral moment and ultimately consider her clip a “blessing in disguise.”
Thus far, Byron’s wife has reacted to fans finding her Facebook account by changing her last name and ultimately scrubbing most of her content.

3 Underrated Netflix Shows to Watch This Weekend (July 18-20)
By a quirk in the summer schedule, many of Netflix‘s most popular shows are currently crime or mystery dramas, with a side of police procedurals.
Netflix clearly knows what its audience wants, which may be why so many similar series are dominating the charts.
To narrow things down for you, the Watch With Us team has selected the following three underrated Netflix shows to watch this weekend.
Given the short length of some of these shows, you may even be able to finish them by Saturday night.
23 Must-Watch Shows on Netflix Right Now (July 2025)
‘Untamed’ (2025)
There aren’t a lot of murders at Yosemite National Park, but ISB special agent Kyle Turner (Eric Bana) can’t look past the evidence that a Jane Doe (Ezra Franky) met with foul play in Untamed. It’s a PR nightmare for the park itself, and Kyle’s life is already complicated by his broken relationship with his ex-wife, Jill (Rosemarie DeWitt), and the death of their young son.
Lily Santiago costars as Naya Vasquez, a rookie ranger who assists Kyle during his investigation. What they discover about the body suggests that murder wasn’t the only crime that was committed against the victim, and the killer or killers are more than willing to strike again to cover their tracks.
Untamed is streaming on Netflix.
‘Under a Dark Sun’ (2025)
Alba Mazier (Ava Baya) is facing a desperate situation in Under a Dark Sun even before she’s accused of murder. The only thing Alba wanted was a chance to get back on her feet so she could raise her son, Leo (Max Harter). However, someone went to great lengths to fabricate a job offer for Alba from Arnaud Lasserre (Thibault De Montalembert), the wealthy owner of a flower farm.
5 Netflix Shows We Can't Wait to Watch This Summer, Ranked
Arnaud and Alba share a personal connection that she isn’t initially aware of, and that may be why she was lured into a trap where she discovered that he was fatally injured. Now, Alba is considered the prime suspect in Arnaud’s murder because everyone thinks she has the perfect motive to kill him — greed. Arnuad’s family doesn’t have any reason to trust Alba, but his granddaughter, Manon Simoni (Claire Romain), shocks all of her relatives by agreeing to be Alba’s attorney.
Under a Dark Sun is streaming on Netflix.
‘The Gringo Hunters’ (2025)
The Gringo Hunters is the informal nickname of a team led by Temo (Dagoberto Gama) that hunts down American fugitives south of the border and hands them over to U.S. authorities. However, Temo, Nico (Harold Torres), Gloria (Mayra Hermosillo), Archi (Andrew Leland Rogers), Beto (Manuel Masalva) and Cri (Héctor Kotsifakis) were supposed to be keeping a low profile. After their latest arrest goes viral, that’s no longer possible.
This series feels very similar to the police procedural shows you can find on CBS, minus the Mexican setting and actors. Temo’s team may be good at their jobs, but they’re going to discover that their authority under the law has limits, especially when it comes to dealing with the U.S. justice system.

America’s Sweethearts’ Stars Want Salary ‘Improvements’ for NFL Cheerleaders
The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are still riding the high from their major pay raises earlier this year — but they know there’s still more work to be done.
America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders star Reece Weaver was “really proud of the outcome” after fighting for more money, she told Us Weekly exclusively at the Netflix Summer Break event hosted at Santa Monica Pier on Thursday, July 17.
“I know a lot of people really led that, but we all supported it. We all just wanted to not only do this for our team, but for all the women that came before us and … for just women in general,” Reece, 23, told Us. “It was just a blessing to be a part of and we’re just super proud of it.”
Kelly Villares agreed, noting that it was a “really revolutionizing” success for the dance industry overall.
“We’re hoping to see improvements in the NFL cheer world as well,” she added.
Judy Still Thinks It's More 'Impressive' for DCCs to Have Full-Time Jobs
Charly Barby said she is “really proud” of the “extraordinary” moves the “entire team” was able to make.
Us Weekly shared exclusive details last month that the cheer squad received a giant salary increase just before America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season 2 premiered on Netflix.

The show’s first season, which took the world by storm in 2024, revealed that the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders reportedly made only around $500 per game along with hourly wages for practices and some fees for public appearances and events.
“It’s a tough topic to start to have conversations [about],” cheerleader Jada Mclean told Us before the second season’s June 18 premiere. “But we were pretty serious, as leaders, this was something that we really wanted to see a change happen.”
NFL Cheerleader Salaries: How Much Money Do They Make During Football Season?
Jada was one of the veteran cheerleaders who led the charge for more money.
“A walkout was something that we talked about, but at the end of the day, we knew we all wanted to be on that field and as hard as it was to decide what the right choice was to do, we just decided we were gonna cheer,” she added. “But still stand firm in what we believed in. And at the end of season 2, there is a resolution that’s positive for us.”
The season 2 finale revealed that the women received “400 percent” salary increases.
“I can’t go into too much detail, but I will say there’s an increase all around when it comes to hourly and appearance fees and just everything as a whole,” Jada told Us. “It’s a very great change and I think the girls are gonna benefit a lot from it moving forward.”

In a celebratory post made via Instagram on Thursday, July 17, the team introduced the rookies: Brenley Herrera, Maddy Unger, Jenna Waller, Morgan Perschy, Parker Kilpatrick and Faith Ward.

I’m excited to see where this wild ride takes me! I feel so privileged to stand alongside not only the most talented dancers but also some of the most amazing women I’ve ever met.”

3 Underrated Amazon Prime Video Movies to Watch This Weekend (July 18-20)
It’s all about living the sweet life this weekend on Amazon Prime Video.
Watch With Us has selected three underrated movies for you to watch this weekend, which feature such TV stars as Friends’ Jennifer Aniston and Parks and Recreation’s Rob Lowe.
Thriller fans should enjoy the 1980s movie Masquerade and the 2005 suspense flick Derailed, both of which deal with torrid love affairs, blackmail and murder.
In contrast, My One and Only is a real-life dramedy that details a loving yet dysfunctional relationship between a mother and son in 1950s America.
‘Masquerade’ (1988)
Young Olivia Lawrence (Meg Tilly) has it all — money, looks and a killer Southampton spread. The one thing she doesn’t have is true love, but that changes when she meets and falls in love with Tim Whalen (Rob Lowe). Tim appears to be good to be true, though, and soon, Olivia starts suspecting he’s really after her fortune. Is she right? Or is someone else making her doubt Tim so they can grab her money?
Masquerade is all about those benjamins — it flaunts its wealth almost as much as Olivia does. That’s a large part of its appeal, though, as it’s escapist porn at its finest — and sleaziest. Lowe is good as always at playing a pretty boy with a shady past, and Kim Cattrall pops up briefly as one of Tim’s horny older lovers. You can see her most popular role, Samantha Jones, in an embryonic stage in Masquerade, a full decade before Sex and the City debuted on HBO.
Masquerade is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
‘Derailed’ (2005)
Rachel Green in a thriller? Yeah, it happened, and everyone’s forgotten about it. But Derailed is a modest thriller that both works and gives star Jennifer Aniston a role she doesn’t usually play — the femme fatale. When family man Charles (Clive Owen) meets Lucina (Aniston) on a commuter train, he’s instantly intrigued — and in lust. But when they check into a hotel and begin to take off their clothes, a naked intruder storms in, assaults Lucinda and punches Charles. Days later, Charles receives a phone call demanding $10,000 or else his wife will know he almost cheated on her.
And that’s only the beginning as Charles and Lucinda get wrapped up in a blackmail plot that will leave at least one person dead and another in prison. Derailed has a wild plot full of narrative surprises, but it’s mostly kept on track by its two lead stars, who are believable as horny would-be adulterers who are in way over their heads.
Derailed is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
‘My One and Only’ (2009)
15-year-old George (Logan Lerman) loves his mother Anne (Renée Zellweger), even though she’s a complete mess. After she catches her husband with another woman, she takes George and heads out West, with little direction and almost no money. As they travel from St. Louis to Albuquerque, George begins to understand his mother’s need to flee from her past and his own ambition to be better than his dysfunctional family.
Based on journeyman actor George Hamilton’s life story, My One and Only is a fascinating coming-of-age story that focuses on a complex — and often messy — mother/son relationship. Anne doesn’t always make the right choices, but she always wants what’s best for her son. George loves his mother, but he wants to get as far away from her as possible. The movie doesn’t soften the rough edges of their relationship, and that alone makes it worth a watch.
My One and Only is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Why Is Stephen Colbert’s ‘The Late Show’ Ending? Cancellation Explained
It’s the end of an era in late night television.
Stephen Colbert surprised fans when he announced that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will come to an end in May 2026.
“Before we start the show, I want to let you know something that I found out just last night,” Colbert, 61, shared during the Thursday, July 17, taping of his CBS show. “Next year will be our last season, the network will be ending The Late Show in May.”
As the studio audience began to express their disappointment by booing, Colbert said, “I share your feelings.”
“It’s not just the end of our show, but it’s the end of The Late Show on CBS. I’m not being replaced,” he said. “This is all just going away. I do want to say that the folks at CBS have been great partners … And I’m grateful to the audience, you, who have joined us every night, in here, out there, and all around the world.”
Which TV Shows Are Canceled in 2025-2026?
While Colbert will continue with the show until May 2026 with nearly 200 crew members, many are curious to learn more about why The Late Show was suddenly canceled.
Keep reading to see the possible explanations for the show’s big announcement:
What CBS Said About The Late Show’s Cancelation
When confirming the end of The Late Show, CBS released a statement noting that the decision was purely a “financial” one and is not “related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.”
“We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire The Late Show franchise at that time,” the statement read. “We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television.”
What Fellow Late Night Hosts Said About The Late Show’s Cancelation

Jimmy Kimmel showed his support for Colbert by sharing his announcement online.
“Love you Stephen,” he wrote via his Instagram Story. “F*** you and all your Sheldons CBS.”
Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen also expressed his disappointment while attending the Las Culturistas Culture Awards in Los Angeles.
“I think it’s a sad day for late night television,” he told Deadline on Thursday. “I think it’s a sad day for CBS. I think Stephen Colbert is a singular talent. He’s going to have an incredible next chapter. I can’t believe CBS is turning off the lights at 11:30 after the local news. I’m stunned. He’s one of three late night shows deemed worthy enough for an Emmy nomination. He produces a brilliant show.”
Both Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon praised Colbert not only as a late night host, but as a friend too.
“For as great a comedian and host he is, @StephenatHome is an even better person,” Meyers, 51, wrote via his Instagram Story on Friday, July 18. “I’m going to miss having him on TV every night.”
Fallon, 50, added, “I’m just as shocked as everyone. Stephen is one of the sharpest, funniest hosts to ever do it. I really thought I’d ride this out with him for years to come. … He’s really been a gentleman and a true friend over the years.”
What Washington, D.C. Said About The Late Show’s Cancellation

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren expressed her concerns about The Late Show suddenly ending.
“CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump — a deal that looks like bribery,” Warren, 76, claimed on X. “America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons.”
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders shared the same sentiment when he wrote via X, “CBS’s billionaire owners pay Trump $16 million to settle a bogus lawsuit while trying to sell the network to Skydance. Stephen Colbert, an extraordinary talent and the most popular late night host, slams the deal. Days later, he’s fired. Do I think this is a coincidence? NO.”
Late Night Hosts React After Stephen Colbert's 'The Late Show' Is Canceled
Could President Donald Trump Be Behind The Late Show’s Cancellation?
The last episode of The Late Show will air six months before the 2026 midterm elections.
The show’s cancellation announcement also comes three days after Colbert called out Paramount, CBS’s parent company, for settling what he called “a nuisance lawsuit” brought by President Donald Trump.
In the suit, Trump, 79, alleged that 60 Minutes had unfairly edited an interview of former Vice President Kamala Harris. Paramount reportedly agreed to pay Trump $16 million, something the late night host called “a big fat bribe” in his monologue.
“I absolutely love that Colbert got fired,” Trump posted to his Truth Social platform on Friday. “His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!”

Famed Skydiver Felix Baumgartner Dead at 56 in Paraglider Crash
Felix Baumgartner, the skydiver who broke the sound barrier in his 24-mile dive in 2012, died on Thursday, July 17 at 56, after crashing his paraglider.
The accident occurred in the Italian city of Porto Sant’Elpidio, located along the country’s eastern coast. Firefighters dispatched to the scene confirmed that the paraglider had crashed into the side of a swimming pool.
“Our community is deeply affected by the tragic passing of Felix Baumgartner, a figure of global prominence, a symbol of courage and passion for extreme flight,” Porto Sant’Elpidio Mayor Massimiliano Ciarpella said in a statement shared via social media.
The mayor’s office believes Baumgartner suffered a “medical issue” and lost control of the motorized paraglider, leading to the accident.
The Dark Reason Why David Blaine Won’t Do a Death-Defying Stunt This Year
Baumgartner, dubbed “Fearless Felix,” was best known for his 2012 dive through the stratosphere as part of the Red Bull Stratos team, in which he reached 843.6 miles per hour, or about 1.25 times the speed of sound. The feat took around nine minutes and included a potentially dangerous flat spin that lasted for 13 seconds while he was still supersonic.
Approximately eight million people watched the jump, which was streamed live on YouTube. Red Bull later made a documentary about the stunt using footage Baumgartner recorded on a helmet-worn camera.
“When I was standing there on top of the world, you become so humble, you do not think about breaking records anymore, you do not think about gaining scientific data. The only thing you want is to come back alive,” he said after he landed in New Mexico.
In addition to breaking the sound barrier, it was the highest jump of all time, breaking the record set by Joseph Kittinger in 1960 by nearly five miles. Kittinger, who died in 2022 at age 94, served as an adviser to Baumgartner during his preparation.
Extreme Sports Influencer Andreas Tonelli Dies Biking in Dolomites at Age 48
“Sometimes we have to get really high to see how small we are,” Baumgartner added.
Computer scientist Alan Eustace broke Baumgartner’s altitude record two years later, though he still holds the vertical speed record.
Baumgartner’s career as a BASE jumper and daredevil dates back to the 1990s. In 1999, he set the world record for the highest parachute jump from a building when he jumped from the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. That same year, he set the world record for the lowest BASE jump, leaping from the hand of Rio de Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer statue, 98 feet off the ground. Four years later, he became the first person to skydive across the English Channel.
Baumgartner never married but had been in a relationship with Romanian TV host Mihaela Rădulescu since 2014.

‘Freaks’ (2018)
You’ll definitely see some comic-book influences in Freaks, as well as a little bit of Stephen King’s Firestarter. Lexy Kolker stars as a seven-year-old girl named Chloe Lewis who has never left her house. Chloe’s father, Henry Lewis (Emile Hirsch), says he’s protecting her from people who want to hurt her or take her away.
After an enigmatic stranger, Mr. Snowcone (Bruce Dern), intervenes, Chloe learns that her father was right all along. There are bad people who are after them just because they have powers and abilities beyond normal humans. Chloe also discovers that her telepathic gift may even be able to reunite her with her long-lost mother, Mary Lewis (Amanda Crew).

‘American Pie’ (1999)
American Pie was a pretty wild teenage sex comedy for 1999. Times have changed a lot in the last 26 years, but it’s still a funny movie to revisit. The story revolves around four high school seniors who resolve to lose their virginity on or before their prom night. Chris “Oz” Ostreicher (Chris Klein), Kevin Myers (Thomas Ian Nicholas) and Paul Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) have some promising starts. However, their friend, Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs), isn’t so lucky.

Jim has a real talent for getting himself in really humiliating situations, especially during his encounter with an exchange student, Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth). All four of the guys have to face questions about what they really want out of a relationship, and it may not be what they originally desired.

‘Triangle’ (2009)
A boating trip takes a wrong turn for a woman named Jess (Melissa George) in Triangle. After taking the chance to temporarily leave her responsibilities as a mother behind, Jess joins Greg (Michael Dorman) and the rest of their friends on a brief excursion to the sea.
When Greg’s ship is overturned by a storm, the survivors gather on an abandoned ocean liner. Soon, Jess realizes that someone is stalking and attempting to kill her friends. More alarmingly, Jess’ friends claim that she’s the killer. And once Jess realizes what’s really happening, there may not be an escape for any of them.
