'Marvel's Runaways' Cast Reacts to Julian McMahon's Death at 56
The Marvel’s Runaways cast will forever remember their late costar Julian McMahon.
McMahon played Jonah, an alien magistrate, on the Hulu series, which aired from 2016 to 2019. The Marvel Television show was adapted from the comic book of the same name, highlighting a group of teens in Los Angeles who run away from their respective parents when they find out about their nefarious deeds under Jonah’s leadership. Jonah is also the biological father of teen Karolina Dean (Virginia Gardner).
“The show is pretty full-on,” McMahon said during a December 2018 appearance on AOL’s Build Series. “I really enjoyed this season [2] because we shot a lot of stuff in 70 mill. It’s all digital, but 70 mill, so everything’s got this epic, kind of seismic vibe to it.”
Runaways was canceled in November 2019 after its third season. McMahon died six years later after a battle with cancer. He was 56.
“With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,” his wife, Kelly McMahon, said in a statement shared on Friday, July 4. “Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.”
She continued, “We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”
In addition to Kelly, Julian is survived by 25-year-old daughter Madison, whom he shared with ex-wife Brooke Burns.

Ever Carradine

Carradine portrayed Janet Stein on the three-season series.
“Thinking about how we have lost two to cancer from our Runaways family,” Carradine wrote via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, July 5, also referring to Annie Wersching, who died in 2023 at the age of 45. “Julian was a class act, brilliant actor and always got the joke. May he rest in peace.”
Wersching, who also privately battled cancer ahead of her death, played Jonah’s ex Leslie Dean.
Angel Parker

Parker, who played Catherine Wilder, shared a set pic of Julian and Wersching on her Instagram Stories on Friday.
“Gone too soon,” she wrote, adding a broken heart emoji.
Kevin Weisman

Weisman brought Dale Yorkes to life on Runaways. He shared a behind-the-scenes set pic with Julian via his Instagram Stories on Saturday.
“One of the coolest and kindest. Great actor,” Weisman wrote. “Sending love to his family and friends.”

‘8 Simple Rules’ Alum Amy Davidson Gives Sobriety Journey Update
Amy Davidson is opening up about her ongoing sobriety journey and how she sidesteps any potential pitfalls.
“Let’s talk triggers. I went to one of my favorite wineries/restaurants to celebrate a dear friend of mine yesterday and was surprised (and not fully prepared) by my reaction,” Davidson, 45, wrote via an Instagram post on Friday, July 4. “I felt like I was slapped in the face with a huge life lesson. Being around wine, something I would drink every single day, with girlfriends celebrating a friend’s milestone birthday, everywhere I looked we were surrounded by wine and wine and more wine — it was challenging at first and I got in my head big time.”
Davidson went on to explain that she quietly asked herself “what would happen if I had a sip or just one glass of wine?” while “feeling envious” of the people who were “able to enjoy it without the internal dialogue of wanting more and more.”
“Being amongst the ‘normalcy’ of drinking alcohol and not participating was a very big step for me,” she continued. “I haven’t participated in six months. I’m slowly changing my headspace from missing wine to being beyond grateful for not consuming it anymore. It sneaks up on you. The cravings, feeling like it’s going to fix a bad day, like it’s your best friend you get to hang out with on the couch, your sidekick, your confidence builder, your liquid courage.”
Blake Lively, Kim Kardashian and More Stars Who Don't Drink
She added, “Sorry friends, but that’s all bulls***. Alcohol simply takes from us and what we think it gives us in return is a facade. I’m not preaching I’m just sharing. I’ve been learning way too much not to share… Anyway, we’ll save it for another day.”
In February, the 8 Simple Rules alum announced she was 30 days sober in another Instagram post.
“I am one month sober — today. And counting. And I’m so happy,” she said at the time. “I feel really good and I am excited and I’m looking forward to sharing my journey.”
Since then, Davidson has documented her sobriety journey while celebrating important milestones, including 100 days sober.

“Gratitude doesn’t even explain it,” Davidson wrote at the time after achieving her 100-day milestone. “I’ve been pretty MIA lately. Not sure why? I will try to be more present. I am still here to share my experience, possibly help you with yours, and seek advice from those who are ahead of me.”

Brooks Nader Suffers Wardrobe Mishap in White Skirt on Her Period
Brooks Nader selected the perfect tennis whites to wear to Wimbledon — until she unexpectedly started her period while watching the match.
“Tries to be chic,” Nader, 28, wrote via TikTok on Friday, July 4. “Starts at Wimbledon.”
The model wore a cap-sleeve black blouse with a long white skirt to watch the tournament on Friday. In her video, she spun around to reveal that the back of her crisp, white skirt had a small blood stain.
“Of course #wimbledon,” she added in her caption.
@brooksnader Of course

Nader’s unfortunate wardrobe malfunction was all too familiar to her social media followers.
“You’re so real for this,” a TikTok user wrote, with another adding, “A canon event for all us girlies.”
A third chimed in, “happens. Thank you for NORMALIZING it
.”
Another social media user joked that the issue happened “the one time” that Nader chose to wear “something non-sheer and maxi.”
The Most Embarrassing Wardrobe Malfunctions of All Time
“LITERALLY,” Nader replied. “Back to sheer.”
Brooks went to watch the tennis championship with her sisters Grace Ann Nader and Sarah Jane Nader. Brooks and her siblings, including sister Mary Holland Nader, are famously close and even recently filmed a Hulu docuseries called Love Thy Nader about their tight-knit bond.

“There’s four of us. I can’t even count on one hand how many of them there are,” Brooks exclusively told Us Weekly in May. “You can expect everything to be laid out there. There’s chaos, there’s drama, there’s boys [and] there’s girls. There’s everything you can imagine under the sun. Just four girls from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, living in the big city in SoHo — all under the same roof. What can go wrong?”
She added, “We grew up from very humble beginnings. We just had this dream; we all shared the same dream, and we moved to New York City and we’re just chasing that.”
Brooks further teased to Us that the new series will also feature a “little crossover moment” with the Kardashian sisters, who have their own Hulu docuseries.
Love Thy Nader premieres on Hulu later this summer.

Glen Powell Dons His Best Tennis Whites While Attending 2025 Wimbledon
Wimbledon 2025 is well under way and the stars are out in full force — including Glen Powell, who showed up dressed to impress.
Powell was photographed attending the annual tennis tournament on Saturday, July 5. The actor, 36, arrived wearing an off-white patterned suit and a white button-up underneath. To complete the tennis-worthy look, he wore brown loafers, dark sunglasses and a spiky hairstyle.
The actor isn’t the only famous face who has been spotted at Wimbledon this week. The tournament, which has historically been well-attended by members of the British royal family, has featured appearances from Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra in addition to plenty of high-profile couples.
Louis Partridge and Olivia Rodrigo, who confirmed their relationship in December 2023, were spotted in the Royal Box during the Gentlemen’s Singles second round match between Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and Oliver Tarvet of Great Britain on Wednesday, July 2. Chopra and Jonas were also seen at the same match.
Tom Cruise, Zendaya and More Stars Step Out at Wimbledon Finals
Dave Grohl and his wife Jordyn Blum also attended the tournament this week, a rare outing for the duo since the Foo Fighters singer admitted to an affair and fathering a baby with another woman in September 2024.
Powell is currently gearing up for the September 2025 release of his Hulu comedy series Chad Powers. The half-hour series is inspired by Eli Manning’s 2022 ESPN+ docuseries Eli’s Places.

“We’re both diehard college football fans. When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world,” Powell and cocreator Michael Waldron said in a joint statement shared in February 2024. “We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast.”
Both Eli Manning and his brother Peyton Manning serve as executive producers on the show.
Glen Powell’s Look for New Show ‘Chad Powers’ Has the Internet Talking
“I thought he looked unbelievable. I mean, he looked terrible, which is hard for Glen to look really bad. He looked bad like I did!” Eli exclusively told Us Weekly in September 2024. “I’ve been talking to him, working with him a little bit in the offseason and to get him ready. And he’s fired up to play quarterback and to play Chad. He’s gonna do a great job. I can’t wait to see him in action.”
Eli added that he never imagined the skit would turn into a full-fledged series.
“Who would’ve ever known?” he also said. “I thought it was a funny idea: ‘Go and try out for a Penn State football team. Have a little fun.’ I hadn’t played football in a couple years, and so [I wanted to] see if I can still throw it and go back out there and compete. And now it’s turning into a show on Hulu. I mean, it’s unbelievable.”

8 Weeks Reporting From the Sean 'Diddy' Combs Trial: What It Was Really Like
“It’s not a f***ing game!”
A woman erupts in the middle of the courtroom and points to Sean “Diddy” Combs, the besmirched hip-hop mogul at the center of the sprawling sex trafficking and racketeering case that ran for eight weeks.
“Diddy, these motherf***ers are laughing at you!” the woman shouted before court marshals forcibly escorted her outside. “Pull your gun out, ninja. I dare you!”
In that moment, I suddenly felt compelled to pop outside to check on her. It was my 15th day covering the Diddy trial, and I was no stranger to chatting up every recurring face that appeared at the courthouse. I had met this woman, known as the “MTA Lady” — a nickname adopted by reporters and court marshals alike — on the first day of jury selection. In the early weeks, she showed up every day in the same uniform — navy cardigan, burgundy tie and her signature MTA cap — like a cartoon character who never changes outfits.
But outside, I walked into the storm of something even more chaotic. Two influencers were verbally sparring, teetering on the line of a fistfight, as a sea of media junkies swarmed them with phones and cameras.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Found Guilty of Transportation, Acquitted of Other Charges
“Who the f*** is the clout chaser?” shouted a woman in a black cowboy hat and slouchy sage green utility pants. As the man lifted his phone attached to an elongated selfie stick, she sneered, “Oh, I see! Clock that! Let’s go viral!”
He shot back, “Back away before you get smacked.” (It’s worth noting that this same influencer was later spotted dousing himself in baby oil after the verdict was read.)
Meanwhile, a Diddy trial “regular” began pacing back and forth. He waved his hands up in the air and proclaimed, “This is the start of a war!”
At this moment, what was happening outside the courthouse became more interesting than the testimony unfolding on the stand.
I rode the elevator back up with the bug-eyed male influencer, still buzzing on about the fight. And in an ironic twist, the female influencer he was screaming at ended up sitting directly in front of me. I couldn’t help but peer over the civil complaint form resting in her lap. She was conjuring up a suit against Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Ciara and Russell Wilson and, for reasons I still don’t fully understand, the National Football League.

I’ve always been fascinated by characters. We all have our own quirks — and watching those eccentricities meld together and coexist in the wild is one of the great joys of being human.
Diddy’s alleged “quirks” — his freaky, baby-oil-dependent pastimes — are now more than well-documented. Reporters from dozens of media outlets, plus a barrage of self-assigned content creators and public informants, were on the ground covering the trial in lower Manhattan.
But what most reporters weren’t interested in all too much were the surrounding everyday folks attending the trial. What motivated a random person to sit in federal court at 2 p.m. on a random Wednesday afternoon?
To many legacy reporters, these folks were nuisances (and, to be fair, many were). But as the trial marched on, I found myself more intrigued by the cast of barnacles clinging to its hull. The wide variety of characters — and the bizarre motivations that connected them — started to become my favorite unraveling storyline.
The witty court marshals, mostly retired cops and veterans, ramped up surveillance fast as chaos festered inside. No talking is allowed while court is in session, but reactions always accompanied the show.
Diddy Supporters and Critics Fight About Cassie Outside Court Over Verdict
After the defense grilled psychologist Dawn Hughes on how she coordinated with the government, a prosecutor asked for a sidebar — and the overflow room erupted.
“Ooooooh!” Jabs flew. “They got her good!” “That’s a red flag!” “I’m talking about this on the podcast today.”
I scribbled in my notes, “The characters are clapping.” I felt like I was living through a sitcom.
When I studied abroad in London, my friend Joe handed out empty notebooks to the unhoused people he interacted with on our daily commute to class. He’d tell them that if they filled out every page, they’d receive a crisp £20 note. Most lost the notebook, others scribbled nonsense, but a few returned some fascinating material.
In that same vein, I handed out a survey to dozens of public patrons attending the trial. I didn’t have the budget to hand out $20 like Joe, so to incentivize them, the top of the survey read: “You are currently witnessing one of the most important trials of the century. Help me paint the picture.”
I asked them about the case, the atmosphere in the courtroom, and how their own experiences with abuse shaped their lens.
The first person I spoke to claimed he was Diddy’s college roommate. He reminisced about the big house parties they’d use to throw, and how they’d pass out invites around campus. Others with alleged ties to Diddy wore them like a badge of honor.

The tapestry of humanity on display never ceased to amaze me, with pupils of the law absorbing the unconventional strategies of attorneys on both sides. One mother who traveled from Las Vegas wrote in her survey, “My son is a criminal justice major at Michigan State University and I wanted him to experience the trial in the courtroom!”
A former sex worker who described himself as a “victim of Hollywood elites” came looking for closure. He wrote, “My sister was murdered by her husband who is a broke version of Diddy.”
One woman who’s worked with the White House on anti-trafficking initiatives attended all four days of Cassie Ventura’s testimony, the 8 ½-months pregnant star witness who dated Diddy for 11 years. Calm, confident, and composed, she told me she was there to support survivors of sexual assault. And as we continued to chat, she opened up about the 15+ years she was trapped in a sex trafficking ring.
Artie, an 86-year-old from Pennsylvania with a walker, said he’s observed more than 200 trials since retiring. His character read on Diddy? “He should never get out of jail cause he’s such a bad guy.”
During closing arguments, a teacher led a single-file line of middle schoolers into the back pews of the overflow room. I lost count of how many parents showed up with their children. But it was the strollers that perplexed me the most.
One couple from L.A., who both worked for Disney, were joined by their 8-month-old baby who started crying in the courtroom at one point. The couple described the trial as a must-see event akin to the other tourist attractions that New York has to offer.
“I guess we’re just here to get out of the rain,” the husband told me. “We’re here to see Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, and — of course — the Diddy trial. This is something we’ll be able to tell our daughter when she grows up.”
So, beyond the allure of fame, what exactly compelled spectators from every corner of the country to watch this trial unfold in person? Was it moral gratification for enduring hours of harrowing testimony that most outsiders couldn’t stomach? The act of exercising their First Amendment rights to shout their version of the truth into the public square? Or maybe something simpler: the aching human need to have a voice.
Cassie Will Be Focus of Diddy Trial, Government Says in Opening Statement
Interconnectedness, or the evolutionary desire to be a part of something larger than yourself, is the driving force here. In one way or another, all of us who attended the trial fulfilled some level of purpose.
That sense of meaning is something Diddy lost — and what might’ve fueled his drug-and-sex-induced dopamine craze.
On his 45th birthday, one of his closest assistants gifted him a scrapbook that cataloged magazine articles from the ‘90s. “Mia,” the pseudonym she testified under, explained that the gift was meant to re-spark the sense of wonder Diddy’s younger self felt as he quickly climbed the ladder of the music industry.
By the early 2000s, Diddy had it all: Grammy wins, platinum records, a fashion empire, his own vodka deal and a king-like reputation as the hip-hop mogul. But by his 45th birthday in 2014, that spark was gone.
“I used to look at the world the way that you did,” Diddy lamented to Mia, “but now that I’ve done everything, life doesn’t have the same meaning.”
For all the repulsive behavior laid bare on the witness stand, those closest to Diddy described being drawn in by his charisma and ability to unite people. And, inadvertently, his trial brought together a ragtag ensemble of misfits to bear witness to what’ll ultimately be judged by history as his extraordinary fall from public grace.

Holly Marie Combs Hopes Julian McMahon, Shannen Doherty Reunite After Deaths
Holly Marie Combs is remembering the legacy of her late Charmed costar Julian McMahon after his death.
“One of a kind is an understatement. Your unyielding zest for life and crazy sense of humor will be sorely missed,” Combs, 51, wrote via Instagram on Friday, July 4. “The joy and laughter you were the direct cause of will always be remembered.”
Combs, Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano played the bewitching Halliwell sisters on The WB’s Charmed. McMahon portrayed Milano’s TV love interest, Cole Turner, during his early career. He died in July at the age of 56 after a battle with cancer.
While reflecting on McMahon’s legacy, Combs shared a handful of throwback show images of McMahon and Doherty, who died in July 2024 after her own cancer battle.
Celebs React to ‘Charmed’ Star Julian McMahon’s Death
“I hope you find our lady friend and dance in those rose petals,” Combs added, referring to Doherty.
She shared more throwback footage via her Instagram Stories, writing, “RIP. My favorite pain in the ass ever.”

Julian’s wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed his passing on Friday, July 4.
“With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,” Kelly said in a statement. “Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.”
She added, “We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”
Julian McMahon's Ex-Wife Brooke Burns Mourns His Death at 56
In addition to Kelly, the late Australian actor is survived by his 25-year-old daughter, Madison. (Julian shared his only child with ex-wife Brooke Burns, to whom he was married from 1999 to 2001.)
Fellow Charmed costar Milano, 52, also offered her condolences to Julian’s family.
“My heart is with Kelly, with Madison — his girls, his world. He adored them,” Milano wrote via Instagram on Friday. “You could feel it in every conversation, every story, every text. He was a family man above all, and he loved deeply. Losing him feels unreal. Too soon. Too unfair. Rest, my friend. I’ll carry your laugh with me.”
According to Milano, Julian “was more than [her] TV husband.”
“He was a dear friend. The kind who checks in,” she recalled. “The kind who remembers. The kind who shares. The kind who tells you the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable — but always with love.”

Victoria Beckham Celebrates Fellow Spice Girl Mel B’s Wedding to Rory McPhee
Victoria Beckham is “excited” about former bandmate Mel B’s recent nuptials.
On Saturday, July 5, Beckham shared two posts via her Instagram Stories offering her fellow Spice Girls members Melanie Brown — best known as Mel B — congratulations on her wedding to Rory McPhee. (The pair wed the same day.)
“Congratulations @officialmelb and @rorymcphee on your special day!” she captioned a video of herself and the rest of the Spice Girls — Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Melanie Chisholm. “I couldn’t be more excited for you both and wish you a lifetime of happiness! Kisses xx.”
Beckham also shared a photo of herself and Brown at an event together and captioned it, “Sending you love @officialmelb. @rorymcphee is a very lucky man!”
Mel B Says Fellow Spice Girls Will ‘Of Course’ Be Invited To Her Wedding
Brown and McPhee tied the knot at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London after a three-year engagement. Brown and Beckham’s former bandmate Bunton also attended the ceremony, and the Mirror reported Bunton was set to perform at the wedding.

The wedding is a happy celebration for Brown, who has been open about her history with abuse and a 2014 attempt to take her own life. McPhee has played a huge role in her recovery and growth since then, she’s shared.
“Everything’s come full circle,” she exclusively told Us Weekly in May of her decision to return to the United States to host America’s Got Talent. “I never thought I’d be coming back to the U.S. It did have a little bit of an icky feeling — especially L.A., because I’d gone through so much and divorced here. [But] I’m falling in love with it again because it’s on my terms, with a lot of freedom, self-love and self-care.”
Brown, 50, also said the pair bonded as McPhee, 37, helped her take care of her hair following her 2018 divorce from Stephen Belafonte.
“Leaving that 10-year relationship, I was not looking to be in another. I was all about my kids, making sure they [were] OK and on their healing journey. Rory, a lovely family friend, is a hairdresser, so he was nurturing my curls back. When I left my ex, I cut my hair off and dyed it blonde. I wanted to get rid of anything that made me think of [the relationship],” she explained.
Mel B Recalls Falling 'In Love' With Ex-Girlfriend Christine Crokos
“So I’m like, ‘Can you come and help me?’ As [Rory] was nurturing my curls, he was nurturing my belief in love again and trust — which is a huge thing for me because the person I loved and trusted turned out to be the worst mistake I ever made,” she continued. “Up until two years ago, I was like, ‘You can find somebody else. I’m too broken.’ Rory goes, ‘Melanie, I’m not going anywhere. Because I absolutely love you.’”

Spice Girls: Where Are They Now?
Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), Mel B (Scary Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) formed the Spice Girls in 1994 and went on to become one of the most beloved music groups of all time.
The band was originally called Touch, but they later changed their name to Spice after cowriting a song titled “Sugar and Spice.” However, they once again altered the name to the one that eventually stuck, Spice Girls, after discovering that another artist already used the moniker Spice.
The British girl group released their debut single, “Wannabe,” in July 1996. As their popularity skyrocketed, their first album, Spice, followed in November of that year. The Spice Girls — who adopted their nicknames from Top of the Pops magazine — went on to drop a slew of hits, including “Spice Up Your Life,” “Who Do You Think You Are” and “Stop.”
Halliwell announced her intentions to leave the band in May 1998. As the members of the group pursued solo careers and their personal lives flourished, the Spice Girls took an indefinite hiatus in December 2000. Seven years later, all five of the women revealed their plans to reunite for a worldwide tour. They gathered again in August 2012 to perform a medley of their greatest hits at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Halliwell gave birth to daughter Bluebell with ex Sacha Gervasi in May 2006, and Beckham and Bunton were named her godmothers. She married Christian Horner in May 2015, and the couple welcomed son Montague in January 2017.
In April 2019, the “Lift Me Up” songstress denied Mel B’s claims that the two once had sex. Halliwell’s rep told Us Weekly at the time that the rumors were “simply not true and [had] been very hurtful to her family.”
The singer often shares photos of her personal life via Instagram, whether she's cuddling with her kids or cooking pancakes.

Beckham married soccer star David Beckham in July 1999. The couple have four children together: sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz and daughter Harper.
In April 2022, Victoria and David walked down the aisle once again — but this time, as Brooklyn married Nicola Peltz.

In May 2022, the singer was honored with an MBE for her domestic violence charity work. She also became an ambassador for the Caribbean island Nevis, where her father is from.
In October 2022, the "Too Much" artist announced she and her boyfriend — and hairstylist! — Rory McPhee were engaged, revealing on the U.K. talk show Gogglebox that he proposed surrounded by rose petals and a log fire. They got married in July 2025.
