King Charles and Rod Stewart Share Playful Moment With Pruning Shears

King Charles III and Rod Stewart shared a playful moment involving a pair of pruning shears.

The king, 76, and the rocker, 80, appeared together at an event for the 35th anniversary of Charles’ charity, The King’s Foundation, in Scotland on Wednesday, January 15.

At Dumfries House, where the foundation is headquartered, Charles presided over a time capsule ceremony — placing meaningful items into a wooden box — as Stewart, and his wife, Penny Lancaster, looked on. When the king picked up a pair of shears, he jokingly pointed them in Stewart’s direction as the “Maggie May” singer pretended to flinch. Charles let out a hearty laugh while Stewart grinned.

The King’s Foundation, which was launched in 1990, will mark its milestone anniversary throughout the year by collecting items for the capsule that “represent the achievements and legacy” of the foundation, according to a press release published on the royal family’s website

“The items will focus particularly on what inspired people to devote their time to protecting the built and natural world,” the release stated. “Once collated, the time capsule will be buried on the Dumfries House estate and opened a hundred years from now.”

Charles, for his part, seemed in good spirits amid his health struggles. The monarch announced in February 2024 that he’d been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer following a procedure to correct an enlarged prostate. During his annual Christmas address last month, he referenced his diagnosis.

“I am speaking to you today from the Chapel of the former Middlesex Hospital in London — now itself a vibrant community space — and thinking especially of the many thousands of professionals and volunteers here in the United Kingdom and across the Commonwealth who, with their skills and out of the goodness of their heart, care for others, often at some cost to themselves,” he said.

“From a personal point of view, I offer special, heartfelt thanks to the selfless doctors and nurses who, this year, have supported me and other members of my family through the uncertainties and anxieties of illness, and have helped provide the strength, care and comfort we have needed,” he continued. “I am deeply grateful, too, to all those who have offered us their own kind words of sympathy and encouragement.”

King Charles Jokes 'I'm Still Alive' Amid News He's Continuing Treatment

Charles’ daughter-in-law Kate Middleton revealed her own cancer diagnosis in March 2024 and said that she was undergoing chemotherapy. Both continued their treatments as they resumed their royal duties; Kate finished her treatment in September and announced on Tuesday, January 14, that she is in remission

In an Instagram post shared at the time, Middleton, 43, thanked The Royal Marsden, a London hospital specializing in cancer treatment.

“My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside [Prince] William and me as we have navigated everything,” the princess said. “We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”

“In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer.”

Trista Sutter Turned 'Blue' While in Hypothermic Shock on 'Special Forces'

15 January 2025 at 19:30

Trista Sutter’s exit from Special Forces appeared abrupt on TV, but it turns out there was a lot going on behind the scenes that viewers didn’t see on the Wednesday, January 15, episode.

“When I got back from the beach on the first day, I was in hypothermic shock. My lips were turning blue in the vehicle on the way back. It was bad. I was extremely lethargic,” Sutter, 53, revealed in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. “It was really scary.”

Not long into Wednesday’s episode, the OG Bachelorette told the Special Forces soldiers that she wanted to leave. According to Sutter, she realized it was her time to go after a mirror room that didn’t air.

“I wanted to get to the end. I truly did. I wasn’t one that wanted to just sign up for the show and get the paycheck on the first day, you know what I mean? I wanted to challenge myself as much as I could, and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and the mirror room part of it, I wanted to get to that,” she told Us. “I thought that it would be farther along, but because of what happened to me, they pulled me in and I got to really connect on a human level with Billy [Billingham] and Q [Jovon Quarles].”

Sutter also recalled connecting with soldier Rudy Reyes.

“When I was on the beach, I stopped Rudy and I said, ‘I think I’m going to faint.’ And he’s like, ‘Well, what do you want to do?’ I said, ‘I would love to see a medic.’ And he is like, ‘Well, you can’t, if you see a medic then you’re voluntarily withdrawing.’ … And he’s like, ‘I’m sorry, you have to either VW or keep going.’ And I’m like, ‘OK, I’m not ready to go home,’” she explained to Us. “So I just kept going and he said, after the mirror room, ‘I’m really proud of you. I thought you were going to quit on the beach and you didn’t and you kept going and that’s so important and I am so proud of you.’”

Sutter called the validation she received from the DS rewarding — and a sign she might’ve accomplished what she was set out to do on the show, despite her quick exit.

“They saw that I was giving a hundred percent — even though my hundred percent was not as great as the professional athletes and Carey Hart, I was trying my best,” she continued. “And so just knowing that they saw that I was giving a hundred percent meant a lot to me. I have just so much respect for them and what they have given to our country [and] their countries. Connecting with them was really important to me.”

How Bachelor Nation Has Performed on ‘Special Forces’

The reality TV personality went into more detail regarding her decision to exit the show, explaining that she took a long shower to warm up after returning from the beach.

“Before we started filming [again] I saw the number 444 and I believe in angel numbers and guardian angels and God and have huge faith and all of that,” she said. “I went into it knowing or believing that my guardian angels were kind of watching over me and went to bed. I woke up to the explosions — all of us did — and instantaneously a peace came over me thinking, ‘You’re good. You’ve gotten a lot out of these two days.’ Even though it’s just two days. It was like a lifetime.”

Sutter added that the staff warned her things were going to get harder if she remained and progressed in the show.

“And it was already really hard!” she continued. “The in-betweens — running with the pack, which is a third of my body weight essentially — it was really hard. I’ve never been a runner and those were the hard parts, the tasks I was actually kind of excited about and thought I did really well in them even though I didn’t pass technically.”

On the show, Sutter said she didn’t want to be a “burden” to any of her costars.

“I wanted to challenge myself but [not] burden other people to help me,” she told Us of the remark. “They didn’t have to help me. Golden [Tate] was carrying my pack — you could see it in one of the moments by the bridge — he had two packs on, one of them was mine. And I remember saying to him, ‘I think I’m going to go.’ He’s like, ‘Are you sure?’ And mind you, this is when we are running around trying to get ready to, like, go, go.”

Sutter reiterated that even though she was only on the show for a short stint, it was a very fulfilling experience. She noted that other contestants Denise Richards (who was the second recruit to leave) likely felt the same.

“I have so much respect for what Denise was able to accomplish and she was the second one to leave,” Sutter said. “Everyone has a different purpose for being there. Everyone has their own individual reasons for leaving and that takes away nothing from who they are and what they’re trying to accomplish.”

Sutter concluded that she gained back her “confidence” — as an individual and an athlete — as a result of appearing on the series.

“I learned that I can do hard things if I put my mind to it. And part of me regrets leaving when I did, now that I see everything that they’ve been through,” she said. “But I just keep trying to remind myself how I felt in that moment and that peace that came over me, [how I did] challenge myself with the experience and all the people I met, the camaraderie. I’m trying to be grateful for all that, but it is hard. I would love to wake myself up and be like, ‘Yeah, whatever. Screw that piece. Keep going!’”

Special Forces airs on Fox Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

University of Nebraska football superfan Jack Hoffman, who famously ran for a touchdown during a 2013 Cornhuskers’ game, has died after a 14-year battle with brain cancer.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Jack Hoffman,” the Team Jack Foundation confirmed in a Wednesday, January 15, statement via Facebook. “Jack passed away after a long battle with brain cancer, a journey that inspired countless lives and left a legacy of hope, strength, and resilience. Jack Hoffman, you will always be our hero.”

Hoffman passed away at his home in Atkinson, Nebraska. According to the Team Jack website, pathology results after a tumor resection surgery in summer 2024 revealed that his tumor had advanced to a high-grade glioma. He was 19 years old.

After being diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011, Jack formed a bond with Huskers running back Rex Burkhead after his father, Andy Hoffman, reached out to the star player. Two years later, the Nebraska coaching staff invited him to run a play during the fourth quarter of a spring game. Rocking a miniature No. 22 Burkhead jersey, Hoffman — who was 7 years old at the time — took a handoff from Taylor Martinez and ran 69 yards into the end zone of Memorial Stadium to the cheers of 60,000 people.

Sports Moments That Tugged at Our Heartstrings in 2024

A video of the game, which became known as “The Run,” garnered millions of views on YouTube, and weeks later, Jack accompanied Burkhead to visit Barack Obama in the Oval Office. In July 2013, he was awarded ESPN’s ESPY Award for “Best Moment in Sports.”

Jack’s moment in the spotlight helped his parents launch their foundation, which has since raised more than $14 million to aid pediatric brain cancer research. (Andy died from glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive form of brain cancer, in 2021 at age 42.)

“Jack Hoffman embodied what it means to be a Husker every day through his courage, fight, and inspiration,” the official social media account for the Nebraska Cornhuskers wrote via X on Wednesday. “We are heartbroken by his loss and send all our love to the Hoffman family.”

Burkhead — who is now a player for the NFL’s Houston Texans — also sent his condolences via X, writing, “Love you buddy. Tell Jesus we say hello.”

Despite his diagnosis, Jack played on his own high school football team as a lineman before becoming a freshman at the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 2024, studying political science. The school released a statement on Wednesday calling the teen a “valued member of our Loper community,” revealing that Jack made the Dean’s list this past semester.

“Jack was widely admired across Nebraska and beyond for his courageous spirit and dedication to raising awareness about childhood cancer through the Team Jack Foundation,” the school’s statement read. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to Jack’s family, friends and all those whose lives he touched. His connection to the UNK community was meaningful, and his impact will not be forgotten. We are grateful for the time he shared with us.”

In a 2020 interview with ESPN, Jack reflected on “The Run,” revealing he didn’t realize the moment would be a big deal. He recalled not knowing where the endzone was and remembered the words of wisdom his father shared that he carried with him years later: “If you don’t know it, just run until you hit the fence.”

Jack is survived by his mother, Bri Hoffman, and two sisters.

Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet Have Romantic Parisian Date Night

Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet will always have Paris.

The couple were spotted hand-in-hand during a date night in the City of Love on Wednesday, January 15, per photos published in Page Six

According to the outlet, cameras caught Jenner, 27, and Chalamet, 29, stepping into Hotel Royal Monceau following dinner at an upscale restaurant. Jenner looked très chic in a black jumpsuit with a halter neckline while her beau sported dark jeans, a white shirt, and a multi-colored houndstooth coat and hat.

Earlier this month, Jenner attended the Golden Globe Awards in support of Chalamet, who was nominated for a Best Actor award for his role as Bob Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown. The twosome stole a kiss during the ceremony, where they sat next to each other at a table with Chalamet’s costar Elle Fanning and Elle’s sister, Dakota Fanning.

Jenner posed for photos with the Fannings and also whipped out a camera and snapped a pic of Chalamet on his big night. Later, Jenner and Chalamet were seen posing for photos in the Beverly Hilton with stars including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and mingling with other guests.

Jenner and Chalamet were first linked in April 2023, and also attended last year’s Golden Globes. While they didn’t walk the red carpet together, Jenner joined Chalamet inside the venue.

The duo “couldn’t keep their hands off each other” during the ceremony, a source exclusively told Us Weekly at the time. “They only had eyes for each other, and it was clear they were totally into one another.”

“They shared a few kisses, and it was obvious they had amazing chemistry,” the source said, noting that the pair had their legs interlocked while chatting at their table. “They didn’t stop flirting the entire night.”

Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet’s Relationship Timeline

Later that month, a second source told Us that Chalamet and Jenner were “madly in love.”

“Everything is going great between them. They both have really busy schedules but make as much time for each other as possible,” the second insider shared in January 2024. “Timothée is always making Kylie smile. They have a very special connection.”

Just days before Sunday’s awards ceremony, Chalamet dodged a question about his relationship with Jenner at the 36th Annual Palm Springs International Film Society Film Awards. The Kardashians star was spotted inside the January 3 event alongside him.

“You have a lot of supporters in here. I know you brought your partner-in-crime, Kylie, here too. What’s it like to have her supporting you on a night like this?” an Entertainment Tonight reporter asked Chalamet after the awards.

Chalamet, however, played it cool and declined to publicly address his romance.
