Why Nosferatu's Creative Team Won't Forget Bill Skarsgard's Prosthetic Penis

11 January 2025 at 16:29

Fans will likely never forget Bill Skarsgård’s full frontal moment as the decrepit Count Orlok in Nosferatu – but the creative team behind the scenes remain just as haunted.

Heavy prosthetics are nothing new to Skarsgård, 34, as he’s transformed into various levels of haunting creatures in films like It and The Crow. Adding a prosthetic penis onto his body for his role as Count Orlok in Nosferatu, however, was a new experience — one that created a memorable moment not only for Skarsgård’s character on screen but for costar Nicholas Hoult’s Thomas Hutter and the film’s creative team.

“With [Nick’s character] Thomas, they had a scene where Orlok was sucking his blood and the penis kept rubbing on his leg and he didn’t know how to react to him,” Traci Loader, Nosferatu’s lead makeup designer, told Us Weekly in an exclusive interview.

“I don’t think you’ll forget that moment,” the film’s hair department head, Suzanne Stokes-Munton, added, to which Loader replied, “No, that will live on forever!”

Audiences get their own view of the prosthetic appendage in the third act when Thomas attempts to flee Orlok’s castle after realizing he’s being fed on by the ancient vampire. As he finds his way to the cellar, he attempts to stake a sleeping Orlok but wakes him instead. As Thomas runs for his life, Orlok rises out of his sarcophagus, exposing himself free of clothing.

As for why the prosthetic penis was necessary to filming in the first place, head of prosthetic makeup effects designer David White — who created the prop — gave Us some insight into the scene.

“[Bill] knew it was coming, and as soon as I saw that shot in the frame, I thought, ‘Oh no, here come the questions about that.’ Because up until then nobody had said a word,” White said. “It was a creation above and beyond Bill’s own self … We had to find a way of making the whole body work for the shot where he rises from his sarcophagus. So, there was no way around it.”

Hoult himself has been candid about the awkward moment on set, telling Elle in a recent interview that after voicing that he could feel the prop pushing up against his leg, director Robert Eggers sent him a surprise gift.

“As a wrap gift, Rob got it framed, and he sent it to my house,” Hoult told the outlet, noting that he ultimately had to take the prosthetic to a frame shop after the present arrived damaged.

“When I went back to pick it up, I think [the shop owner] clocked, like, how weird it was that I was framing potentially this vampire penis,” Hoult explained. “And he was like, ‘Is this some kind of collector’s piece?’ and I was like, ‘Hm, you could say that.'”

While the faux genitalia may have caused some challenges for Hoult, wearing it was no problem for Skarsgård. White told Us the actor was the ultimate “professional.”

Skarsgård was also involved with the creative process, according to its team and had a say in helping craft Orlok’s mustache. The facial hair was initially supposed to be a lot longer and a different color than what the final product came out to be, thanks to Skarsgård’s input.

Most Memorable Movie and TV Vampires Through the Years

“There were a few different sizes of mustache to choose from,” White recalled. “I offered up a whole variety. At first it was a bit big, believe it or not, it was bigger than what it is now, and then it’s reduced and if you look closely, it’s actually thinned in the center area and that’s done on purpose so that you can see a little bit more of the teeth and everything beneath there.”

He continued: “I added a little bit of silver to the end, which I thought would be really lovely and give a little bit of extra character and suggest aging, but not sort of take him too far. And Bill was aware of those color changes. So he agreed and wanted that to be the case.”

White added that while on set, Skarsgård tended to remain in character and was “quiet and in the shadows as Orlok would be.” Seeing the actor in full garb, however, was much more comical behind the scenes than one would assume it would be.

“When he first went to set, he would be half dressed and then have joggers on the bottom,” Loader recalled with a laugh.

Nosferatu is playing in theaters now.

Kelly Stafford took an unfortunate trip to the hospital with her kids after traveling with her husband Matthew Stafford ahead of the Rams-Vikings playoff game.

“Last night was long,” Kelly, 35, wrote via Instagram Story on Saturday, January 11, alongside a photo of two of her young children asleep in a hospital bed. “Back in beds and sleeping, everyone except Hunter. Feels like she drank a Celsius.”

In another post, she shared a photo via Instagram Story of Matthew, 36, quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, and their daughters. “Before that tho, they were all smiles getting to go with daddy on his work trip,” she wrote.

Last week, Kelly revealed she and two of her daughters had come down with a serious illness. “I can’t think straight,” Kelly said on the Tuesday, January 7, episode of her “Morning After” podcast. “I currently believe I have the flu. Two of my daughters have the flu.”

Kelly and Matthew share four daughters: twins Sawyer and Chandler, 7, Hunter, 6, and Tyler, 4. Kelly did not share why exactly the kids were taken to the hospital, or if they will be in attendance at the Rams vs. Vikings playoff game.

The family had traveled to watch Matthew practice ahead of the Rams’ playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings in Glendale, Arizona, scheduled for Monday, January 13. The Rams home playoff game was relocated from Los Angeles to Glendale due to the wildfires raging through southern California.

Kelly’s hospital trip came after she offered to rent charter buses for season ticket holders in Los Angeles to travel to Glendale for the game.

In a press conference held on Thursday, January 9, Matthew addressed the devastation caused by the wildfires and the impact the natural disaster has had on his community.

Kelly Stafford Says She’s ‘Wasting Money’ Bringing Daughters to Rams Games

“It’s a tough thing to watch on the news, to be around, to see,” he told reporters. “Driving around seeing all that, it’s just really sad to see what’s going on. Obviously, a bunch of people [are] doing everything they possibly can to try and get things under control and get people back to normal as quickly as possible.”

Matthew continued, “Every time we suit up, we’re the Los Angeles Rams. We play for the people in this community. The people in this community support us. This week will be another example of that, obviously. Hopefully a great escape for people who have been going through a lot of tough times.”

The Rams-Vikings Wild Card playoff game will kick off from Glendale, Arizona’s State Farm Stadium on Monday, January 13 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Why Jason and Kylie Kelce Are Only Considering 'Gender-Neutral' Baby Names

Kylie Kelce offered some insight into her and husband Jason Kelce’s decision to stick with gender-neutral names for baby No. 4.

“Going on the 4th [child], it’s like a disaster [picking a name],” Kylie, 32, said during the Thursday, January 9, episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast, while discussing potential names for her and Jason’s fourth child — another girl. “You’ve already used them all up, all bets are off.”

Kylie and Jason, 37 — who have been married since 2018 — announced in November 2024 that they were expecting their fourth daughter. The pair previously welcomed daughters Wyatt in 2019, Elliotte in 2021, and Bennett in 2023.

“We’re doing a little crossover action, I feel like we have to lean a little bit towards those sort of gender-neutral names for our fourth,” Kylie explained. “Because we have Wyatt, Elliotte, Bennett — so if we do a full commit to a girly name at this point, it would not sit well with the other three, I think? Eventually they’ll be like, ‘Why why did they get a cute girly name?’”

Everything Kylie Kelce Has Said About Her Pregnancy With Baby No. 4

Kylie also gushed over her oldest daughter, Wyatt, who is excited to become a big sister for the third time.

“I will say that, my oldest [Wyatt], she’s 5 now — the way she’s getting excited for this next baby is very sweet to watch,” Kylie shared. “She’s very much in that phase of like, ‘I can get diapers, I can fill up my own water bottle, I can do these things independently,’ and so to see her get so excited about getting another baby and her having the opportunity to help is very exciting to watch.”

Kylie previously discussed potential names for the newest Kelce girl on her podcast, responding to queries from fans about whether or not she and Jason already had a name picked out.

“First of all, love the confidence, but even if I did have a name picked out, I’d probably keep that one in the family,” she said in a December 2024 episode. “What I will say: We don’t have a name picked out, so you’re not missing out on anything. And I have seen a number of the suggestions come through in the comments section so I appreciate that.”

Are Jason and Kylie Kelce Ready for Baby No. 4? Everything They've Said

As for Jason, the retired NFL star is more than happy to continue his reign as the ultimate girl dad, telling E! News last year, “I got it pretty easy, I’m not gonna lie.”

He continued, “There’s another girl, so the clothes are all going to be hand-me-downs or already bought. The crib is already situated. So, we’re pretty set. Kylie is definitely preparing more than I am because she’s actually growing a human being.”

Reporter Battling Cancer Says Olivia Munn ‘Played a Role in Saving My Life’

One reporter is crediting actress Olivia Munn for saving her life.

Inside Edition’s Alison Hall shared an emotional post via Instagram on Wednesday, January 8, announcing that she has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and is preparing to undergo a mastectomy.

“Let me tell you the story of how Olivia Munn and the show I work for, Inside Edition, played a role in saving my life,” Hall, 33, wrote in the post’s moving caption. “Last spring, after @oliviamunn shared her story about her breast cancer journey, the producers at @insideedition assigned me to the story and sent me to a breast cancer doctor here in NYC to undergo testing, on-camera. Inspired by Olivia, I took the Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Test.”

According to Hall, her risk was “revealed to be high,” so the “wonderful doctors” at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City “encouraged me to start a schedule of yearly mammograms and MRIs.”

“I was prepared to do this for a long time and had no idea just how quickly this story would change my life,” she continued. “In October, I had my first breast MRI and a week later just before I turned 33, I became one of millions of women to hear the words ‘you have breast cancer.’”

Hall explained that physicians also told her that her cancer is a “stage zero,” meaning it “has not spread.”

“I have an early form of malignancy called DCIS,” she added. According to Johns Hopkins, DCIS – or ductal carcinoma in situ — is a ‘non-invasive form of breast cancer that develops in the milk ducts of the breast.”

“As you can imagine, I have been on a rollercoaster ride of fear, anxiety, dread AND gratitude,” she continued in the Wednesday post. “My husband reminds me that this is ‘the best, bad news’ we could have gotten. For many reasons including my family history of breast cancer and my own history of breast abnormalities, I’ve decided to not only tackle the current cancer head-on but dramatically reduce my risk of future breast cancer. I’ve chosen to undergo a double mastectomy with reconstruction, next week.”

Munn, 44, revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2024.

“Surprisingly, I’ve only cried twice,” Munn wrote in a lengthy Instagram post detailing her diagnosis and subsequent treatment, which also included a double mastectomy. “I guess I haven’t felt like there was time to cry. My focus narrowed and I tabled any emotions that I felt would interfere with my ability to stay clearheaded,” she wrote at the time.

In her Wednesday Instagram post, Hall said that she considers “this experience a gift,” adding that her diagnosis allows her to “do this for my future self, for my future children.”

“I have some of the best family, friends, dog, therapist, doctors and colleagues in the world who have shown up for me and provided more love than I could imagine,” she added. “I believe in the power of storytelling. Olivia Munn sharing her story saved lives. It certainly had a part in saving mine. I’m sharing my story with the same hope.”

Bill Rancic Gives Us His Top Financial Tips for the New Year

11 January 2025 at 14:07

Bill Rancic is bringing his years of entrepreneurial success in the boardroom to the Us Weekly studio by sharing his greatest lessons learned and best advice going into the new year.

“I think, today, the biggest financial mistake people make is that they spend more than they can make, and that’s it,” Rancic, 53, exclusively told Us while discussing his new “Dollar Bill” podcast. “I always go back to what my father told me. ‘It’s not how much money you make, it’s how much money you save.’ So, you have to be a disciplined saver, even if it’s $10, $20, $50 a week — whatever it is, get in that habit. Don’t ever not do it, and you’ll be shocked at what happens in 20 or 30 years from now.”

Rancic is best known as the original winner of The Apprentice. After his reality television success in 2004, Rancic went on to launch a string of successful businesses, including the RPM restaurant chain with his wife, Giuliana Rancic. Bill’s latest venture is his “Dollar Bill” podcast, which further delves into the world of finance.

In terms of his savings tips, he gave Us further clarification on how to keep assets safe and secure.

Bill Rancic Says Justin Bieber Is 'So Good' With His and Giuliana's Son

“The money you save is really going to be up to you and [you should] find a good financial advisor,” Bill told Us. “[It should be] someone who can give you guidance on how you should invest it, but it definitely should be going to work for you.”

Bill also explained why individuals should “never sell anything unless [they] have to.”

“It depends on what it is,” he noted. “If it’s a depreciating asset, you should sell it. If it’s something like real estate, investment property [or] something that God isn’t making any more of, you want to keep it and pass it down from generation to generation, if you can.”

In fact, Bill believes that financial health is “just as important” as a person’s physical health, going on to add that he believes the two are actually linked.

“When you’re financially stressed, it causes stress on your body and if you look at a number one cause for divorce, it’s money,” he told Us. “Money, in many cases, is very troublesome for people and it causes them a lot of pain and suffering. So, you have to have good financial health in order to have a healthy life, a healthy marriage [or] a healthy family.”

Billy Porter, Donna Kelce, Guerdy Abraira and More Share Go-to Advice

The former Giuliana and Bill star also gave Us his three top tips for starting a new business.

“One is [to] embrace a term called ‘practical execution,’ which essentially means stop talking, start doing — actions speak louder than words,” Bill said. “Secondly, you have to be agile. You have to adapt, adjust, react, and if you’re not agile, you become extinct. And thirdly, it’s about risk. It’s about understanding risk, respecting risk, and converting risk into success.”

Camille Grammer Recalls 2018 Hydrant, Water Issues Amid L.A. Fires

Camille Grammer Recalls 2018 Water Pressure Issues Amid LA Fires Thats What Happened to My House

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Camille Grammer is recalling the 2018 Woolsey Fire that destroyed her house as the Pacific Palisades fire continues to rage through the greater Los Angeles area.

Grammar, 56, spoke to People on Saturday, January 11, about the 2018 fire that burned more than 96,000 acres and destroyed 1,643 structures, including the reality star’s Malibu home — one of many homes destroyed at the time due to a lack of water access. A similar situation is currently developing as, according to the LA Times, fire hydrants across the Pacific Palisades are running dry.

“That’s what happened to my house, and during the Woolsey fire, when the firefighters got to the house, it went to the hydrant and there wasn’t enough water pressure. So then they couldn’t save the house,” Grammer told People, recalling her conversation with the fire chief at the time. “He said, ‘I’m sorry. There’s nothing we can do. We just don’t have water pressure.’ And they were very frustrated, and apologized, and they did the best they could.”

Grammer further shared that, when fire fighters discovered that there wouldn’t be enough water to extinguish the flames, the first responders began pulling her belongings out of the home in an effort to save as much as possible.

Celebrities Share Personal Photos of Heartbreaking Los Angeles Wildfires

“I didn’t ask for that,” she said. “They just did it themselves, which was really nice, because there’s just, there was just no water pressure to save the house.”

She continued, “I haven’t really been able to sleep well, I keep thinking of my friends that have lost homes. My heart is broken over the loss of communities and lives. It’s awful. But again, you never know if the winds kick up again and what direction they turn. It’s, you know, a wait-and-see game.”

Janisse Quiñones, chief executive and chief engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, told the LA Times that all water storage tanks in the Pacific Palisades had dried up due to “tremendous demand” in the area.

“We pushed the system to the extreme,” he told the outlet on Wednesday, January 8. “Four times the normal demand was seen for 15 hours straight, which lowered our water pressure.”

Which Stars Have Been Affected by the Los Angeles Fires?

As for Grammer, the RHOBH alum further praised the city’s “amazing” firefighters as they continued to fight the blazes. “They put their lives on the line all the time to save people and communities and homes, and they’re trying their best under these awful conditions,” she told People on Saturday.

“It’s really important in times like these, when the neighbors come together and communities come together to help each other out,” she added.

Since she has experience losing everything to a fire, Grammer also shared some crucial advice to people who are now going through the same thing.

“For me, because I’ve gone through it, life is more important than your home,” she said. “If you’re safe, it’s your life, it’s your health, it’s being safe and sound with your family and your loved ones. Because you can replace material objects, you can rebuild a home or find a new place to live, but a life — you can’t replace a life.”

Jason Oppenheim and his eponymous real estate brokerage are donating their services to help individuals displaced by the Los Angeles wildfires.

“If you’ve lost your home in the Los Angeles fires and you need to find a place to rent until your home is rebuilt, all Oppenheim Group agents will represent you for free or credit you back any commission we receive in the transaction,” the Selling Sunset star, 47, wrote in a Thursday, January 9, Instagram post. “Please reach out to us at [email protected].”

Jason co-owns his agency with twin brother Brett Oppenheim, further explaining his new pro bono mission in an uploaded video.

“I woke up this morning to a lot of friends and clients reaching out because they lost their homes over the last couple of days and they need help with places to live now,” Jason said. “Their families are displaced and as real estate agents, we obviously have an obligation to help them find a place — even when it’s going to be difficult with thousands of people [are] looking for places and [there are] not nearly as many houses available.”

Do ‘Selling Sunset' Stars Actually Sell Homes — And How Much Do They Make?

He further urged all of the city’s realtors to “come together and work hard for the community.”

“This is our time to be able to give back,” the Netflix personality stated. “Everyone stay safe, thanks.”

Several of Jason’s employees reiterated their willingness to help in the comments section, including Alexandra Jarvis, Davina Potratz, Mary Fitzgerald Bonnet, Polly Brindle and Chrishell Stause.

“We are ready to help down in OC! ❤,” Selling the OC’s Brindle, 38, replied, while Fitzgerald Bonnet, 44, sent a flurry of heart emojis.

A string of wildfires broke out in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood and the surrounding Los Angeles area on Tuesday, January 7, causing mass devastation. As of publication, 11 people have died as the fires have burned more than 37,000 acres of land. In addition, more than 12,000 structures have reportedly been destroyed and tens of thousands of residents have been forced to flee their homes under mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders.

As the wildfires continue to tear across the L.A. area, many of the victims are starting to figure out their next steps. Jason, for his part, lamented the subsequent real estate struggles he faced on Friday, January 10.

“I’ve been searching on the MLS [directory] trying to help displaced families from the fires find rental properties,” he said in an Instagram Story video. “I’m noticing dozens of examples of people trying to do things like this, where they’re unable to get $9,500 or even $9,000 and then yesterday increase the rent over 30 percent to $12,000.”

While Jason noted he “is all for free market capitalism,” he claimed that at this time it is “blatantly taking advantage” of the natural disaster. Stause, 43, concurred with her boss, whom she previously dated in 2021.

“This is disgusting,” Stause wrote via her Instagram Stories. “Other realtors that have a moral compass, let’s please report to the board.”
