3 Underrated Hulu Movies to Watch This Weekend (May 23-25)
Memorial Day weekend is here, and theaters worldwide are being invaded by cute little aliens and a perpetually running Tom Cruise. The most exciting place to be, though, isnβt in an auditorium with a bunch of strangers but on your living room couch.
Thereβs one caveat β you have to have a Hulu subscription. Why? Well, the streamer has an impressive library of new and classic movies for you to enjoy. One of 2025βs best movies, Night Call, just debuted on Hulu. Chances are, you havenβt heard of it, but now that itβs on Hulu, you can decide for yourself.
Thereβs also a pair of 2011 movies β an unusual alien invasion thriller and a raunchy comedy β that are entertaining in their unique ways. With so many underrated movies on Hulu right now, the only problem you will encounter is deciding which one to watch first. (Itβs Night Call, obviously.)
βNight Callβ (2025)
Graduate student Mady (Jonathan Feltre) is a locksmith who reluctantly accepts Claireβs (Natacha Krief) desperate late-night request to unlock an empty apartment so she can grab a bag. He succeeds, but Claireβs bag is full of cash that belongs to Belgian mobster Yannick (Romain Duris), and Mady is caught red-handed in Yannickβs apartment.
15 New Movies to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, Max, Hulu, Amazon Prime, More
With Claire long gone, Mady must find her and get the cash back before Yannick and his goons kill him. Thatβs easier said than done, as the city is on lockdown due to a massive Black Lives Matter protest, and one of Yannickβs henchmen, Theo (Jonas Bloquet), is involved with Claire and doesnβt want his boss to know heβs stolen from him.
Night Call was released in the United States in January 2025, and it quickly established itself as one of the best movies of the year. The movie is a terrific action-thriller with some elements of film noir and social drama added in as well. The BLM protests that rage through Belgium heighten the stakes for Mady, who is Black and cannot trust the police who patrol the streets.
Heβs an action hero not unlike John Wick β he canβt rely on anyone but himself, but that might be just enough to get him through the worst night of his life.
Night Call is streaming on Hulu.
βAttack the Blockβ (2011)
Young London nurse Samantha (Jodie Whittaker) is having a bad night. At first, sheβs mugged by a group of teenagers led by Moses (John Boyega). Then, a meteorite falls from the sky and nearly kills her in front of her apartment building, Wyndham Tower. The nightβs about to get even worse for her and Moses, as that meteorite contains alien spores that turn into hungry monsters. Sam, Moses and the rest of the buildingβs residents must band together to kill the invading aliens and take back their block.
Attack the Block takes the βalien invasionβ story and flips it by concentrating on one single location β Wyndham Tower. The council flat is populated by Londonβs working class, so the movieβs protagonists arenβt the usual heroes you see in a sci-fi story like this. The movie embraces its silliness β at one point, someone takes an alien out with a samurai sword β and itβs incredibly fun to watch. Boyega became a star due to this film, and he carries the film with his tossed-off charisma.
Attack the Block is streaming on Hulu.
βBad Teacherβ (2011)
The awful educator at the center of Bad Teacher is Elizabeth Halsey (Cameron Diaz), who is very bad indeed. Lazy, self-absorbed and not at all concerned with her studentsβ well-being, she needs some money for breast implants so she can impress a rich substitute teacher, Scott (Justin Timberlake). Sheβll do anything to get the cash β even help her students pass an important standardized test so she can collect the $5,700 bonus. But Elizabeth isnβt as shallow as she pretends to be, and she finds herself growing closer to her students β and gym teacher Russell (Jason Segel). Does this bad teacher secretly have a good heart?
Everything Coming to Hulu in May 2025
Bad Teacher is frequently rude and crude, but itβs also funny and fast-paced when it needs to be. Samanthaβs ultimate redemption arc isnβt that surprising, but Diaz always holds your interest with her cynical, mean-spirited heroine. The Officeβs Phyllis Smith has some good scenes as Samβs naive colleague, and Segelβs simple and sweet love interest will make you want to attend P.E.
Bad Teacher is streaming on Hulu.

What to Know About High Potential's Supersized Season 2 After Major Twist
High Potential is coming back β with more episodes β but what can fans expect from season 2 when it comes to plot twists, onscreen romance and more?
High Potential, which premiered in September 2024, follows a high-potential intellectual named Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) who teams up with the LAPD to help solve murders. She gets paired up with Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), who is initially skeptical about how Morgan can assist the Major Crimes unit but ultimately starts to rely on her.
The season 1 finale aired in February and confirmed that Morganβs ex Roman was still alive after going missing for more than a decade. Morgan, however, was more focused on a new case where the suspect got away β and then he found a way to introduce himself to her without her knowledge.
Executive producer and showrunner Todd Harthan exclusively spoke to Us Weekly about the purpose of introducing a new mystery ahead of the second season.
'High Potential' Burning Questions Answered After Major Reveal About Roman
βThe No. 1 thing that we try to build in the writers room is a compelling case that will also be really wonderful to watch Morganβs complicated brain take you through,β he explained at the time. βThat then is complimented by these wonderful detectives that are surrounding her. We know the audience β and we as the writers β have a big appetite for that serialized mystery. But the challenge is you donβt want that serialized component to overtake these wonderful cases that the audience looks forward to every week.β
Harthan continued: βFinding that balance is tricky and thatβs why you have a staff of people that come in and keep you honest. They tell me, βIf we reveal that, then it really overtakes the next episode and upsets the balance.β So itβs tricky and it is one of the harder parts of building each episode of the show.β
Despite the cliffhangers, High Potential has already been renewed for a second season. Keep scrolling for everything to know:
When Does the Show Return for Season 2?

In January, High Potential was renewed for a second season, which will include 18 episodes. It is slated to premiere in the fall after season 1 brought in record-breaking numbers at ABC.
Who Is Coming Back?

In addition to Olson and Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb and Judy Reyes are returning. High Potential has also featured Taran Killam, Garret Dillahunt and JD Pardo in recurring roles.
Will There Be More Episodes?

βI do listen to the fans, I read their responses because I want to know what people are loving. It does have an impact on what we talk about and what we focus on sometimes,β Harthan told Us in February about getting the chance to expand the story with more episodes in season 2. βI always count on the 13 [episode order]. I love that itβs not eight or 10 episodes on broadcast and that you get those extra few hours. I usually map out the 13, and if they call, then I have a contingency to expand it and do some standalone episodes.β
TV Couples We Need to See in 2025: From βSummer I Turned Pretty' to '9-1-1'
Will Roman Be Introduced?

After Morganβs ex was teased in the first season, the story will only expand from here.
βWeβve talked about it quite a bit like, βWow, we have the time, and hopefully now the show is a success and we could go and get this actor or that actor.β But the truth is, I havenβt had a deep conversation with Kaitlin about it β and sheβll have a strong opinion. Sheβs very active and involved with casting and has incredible instincts,β Harthan told Us. βSo the short answer is no. We have some favorites and actors I really respect that would be great.β
Harthan is looking forward to bringing more characters into the fold in season 2, adding, βJust the casting opportunities β not just for guest star roles β but recurring roles. Weβve never met Morganβs mother and father either. We havenβt met anybody. So Roman is a really important and amazing piece of casting. I fantasize about who it could be but I havenβt zeroed in on a person yet.β
According to Harthan, Olson has a hand in casting. βKaitlin is a magnet for talent. Thereβs a lot of people that go, βOh, I get to act alongside her? That looks like a really good time.β And they are right, It is,β he continued. βSheβs a blast. But I hope youβre right [that there is actor interest in guest-starring on High Potential]. I want to see that list of people that want to come and dance with us.β
Roman might not return right away though.
βI think frustration is a good thing with an audience. It is a healthy frustration β donβt give them too much of what they want too soon,β Harthan noted about the βdeepeningβ mystery. βIβd be totally lying if I said I have all the answers to that mystery. The wonderful thing about welcoming other brains to the room is how we make sure we donβt fumble this ball and we tell this story in the most satisfying way imaginable. Thereβs some cool stuff coming though.β
Will Season 2 Explore Morgan and Karadecβs Romance?

One episode into High Potential, fans pointed out how Karadec and Morganβs dynamic reminded them of other fictional couples on procedural shows who took years to get together.
βI will definitely say that I actually donβt have the actual ultimate answer to where theyβre going to go. In terms of the will-they-wonβt-they between Karadec and Morgan, that is up to our writers room,β Sunjata told Us in November 2024. βI think that theyβre going to play the long game with that particular story line.β
Sunjata said he was not ruling out Karadec and Morgan remaining platonic β for now or even for good.
βHonestly if we ended up getting like five seasons, Karadec and Morgan could just stay really good friends with a mutual professional respect who deeply care for one another and maybe flirted with the idea of some kind of romantic interaction,β he noted. βBut if that never happened, that would be a really cool way to take it also.β
Harthan, meanwhile, is more inclined to explore what viewers were reacting to.
βYou never know. I donβt let my guard down about those things either. I donβt get overly confident until your audience dictates a lot of the things you do. What do they have a big appetite for?β Harthan shared with Us about his plans for the fan-favorite potential couple. βI might be infamous for slow-planning things, but I love a slow burn. Like, selfishly, I just love it.β
Harthan explained to Us that he wasnβt sure how Morgan and Karadecβs chemistry would be explored. βThe biggest reason is because when you have chemistry like that β and two wonderful actors like that β I just feel like thereβs so many different story paths,β he explained. βWe can go down this early in the show. And what I love about them is this budding friendship that is starting to breed the kind of loyalty that then breeds the kind of unconditional friendship where people are willing to sacrifice just about anything to have each otherβs backs. I love the charm of that.β
He added: βWeβre going to write that for a while. Even if you at some point fall in love with somebody, maybe you also are more in love with the partnership and the friendship. And maybe you are scared enough of the risk of crossing certain lines. β¦ Thereβs a lot of life in this show and I want to make sure we do it at a pace that doesnβt leave a good story on the table.β
2025 TV Wishlist: What Us Weekly Wants to See on 'Bridgerton' and More Shows
How Does the New Big Bad Come Into Play?

The season 1 finale introduced David Giuntoli as a serial kidnapper who has potential β pun intended β to become the βserialized big badβ of season 2.
βWe didnβt want [that story] to be so dark and so sadistic and brutal that it took you into a sort of a tone that felt like a departure from our show. That was a little bit of a fine line that we had to walk. Then if youβre going to have somebody go toe to toe with somebody like Morgan, they better be brilliant. They better be confident and they better be ready,β Harthan told Us. βShe gets underestimated even by people that think theyβre smarter than her and then look out. So we have to create a character thatβs going to be fun to watch her play chess with.β
Harthan is hoping the shakeup will make the show not βfeel predictable.β
βAt her core, Morgan is such a good and empathetic human being. Then she sees somebody out there in the world who she knows is brilliant but is using that to do such harm, and thatβs a terrifying thing,β he continued. βWe just wanted to make sure it hit all those notes without it ever feeling like we were reaching into the darkest of serial killer stories. Thatβs not the show.β
Will Season 2 Do Anything Differently?

βI learned [in season 1] that I have this wonderful cast that you can write anything for. They really are,β Harthan shared with Us. βWith that said, what is going to be quite different in season 2 is that we didnβt have our sea legs yet. We havenβt really scratched the surface of some of those other characters in the ensemble. We havenβt gone home with a lot of them. We havenβt dug into their backstories and how they got to where they are in life β like, all their trials, tribulations and relationships.β
At the time, Harthan teased how season 2 would offer βrich fertile groundβ for the show to expand on.
βWeβre excited about writing some of the other characters more. But I think the biggest thing I learned about how we build each of these episodes is why do we care? Why do you care about this particular case or how itβs resonating with not just Morgan but every character,β he told Us. βIt is making sure that we donβt get lazy with those stories that we choose to tell each week. I try to look at each episode as its own little movie, and this year, we have the luxury of the lessons we learned β good and bad β and planning and plotting the season so that we donβt waste any one of these episodes. However many episodes we end up getting, we will just try to treat each of them as their own little movie.β

'Today' Host Sheinelle Jones' Husband Uche Ojeh Dead at Age 45
Β TodayΒ cohost Sheinelle Jonesβ husband, Uche Ojeh, has died.
βWith profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our dear friend and Today cohost Sheinelle Jones has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma,β Savannah Guthrie announced on the show on Friday, May 23. βThere are no words for the pain that we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him.β (The couple shared son Kayin, 15, and twins Clara and Uche, 12.)
Jones, 46, has not appeared on-air on the NBC morning show since December 2024. Fans initially assumed her absence was due to Jones taking time off during the traditional holiday period.
When her absence continued into the following month and viewers began to ask questions and speculate about her whereabouts, Jones took to social media to briefly address the situation.
βTodayβ Hosts Give Update About Sheinelle Jonesβ Absence: βSo Much Loveβ
βHi everybody β¦ I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while Iβve been absent from the show,β she wrote via Instagram on January 15. βI want to share with you that Iβm taking time to deal with a family health matter.β
Β

Although Jones has kept her familyβs situation private, she wanted to thank viewers for their encouragement as she handles a situation away from cameras.
βItβs not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today show family, but to also have all of you,β she wrote. βYour kindness means so much to me. Iβll see you soon.β
As Jonesβ absence stretched into months off air, Todayβs meteorologist, Dylan Dreyer, shared an update on the news anchor.
βSheβs doing all right,β Dreyer, 43, told E! News on May 3. βSheβs hanging in there. Weβre praying for her and her family. You know, sheβs just going through a tough time with her family.β

The same month, Dreyer told Entertainment Tonight that she was keeping in touch with Jones amid her absence.
βWeβre all very, very close. We chat with her often. A week doesnβt go by where weβre not checking in, seeing how sheβs doing,β Dreyer told the outlet. βWe pray for her all the time. We canβt wait for her to come back. Weβre just waiting for that day to come.β
Dylan Dreyer Gives Candid Update on Sheinelle Jones Amid 'Today Show' Hiatus
Jones also has the support of her fellow Today colleague Carson Daly, who was asked by Entertainment Tonight on May 1 when the journalist was expected to return to the show.
βI donβt know anything about when or timeline,β Daly, 51, told the outlet. βWe talk about her probably every day and weβre wishing her well. Sheβs spending much needed time with her family. Thatβll just take its course. Thereβs so much love going out to her.β
In addition to cohosting Todayβs 3rd hour with Al Roker, Craig Melvin and Dreyer, Jones also serves as an executive producer of MSNBCβs Stories We Tell: The Fertility Secret.

Bachelor's Litia on Mormonism, Dating and Her Message to Juliana Now
Itβs been two months since Litia Garr made waves on the season 29 finale of The Bachelor β something that had a bigger effect on her than she expected.
βIt has definitely been a whirlwind with everyoneβs opinions on all the stuff that has happened,β Litia, 31, recently told Us Weekly during an exclusive interview. βI grew up watching reality TV. You just assume that everyone [on the show has] moved past it, but it is crazy how many emotions come up while youβre watching it [air]. Things are kind of reignited. [Youβre thinking], βI didnβt know they said that, or I donβt know if I really like how that conversation went.β You see everyoneβs talking heads and you donβt know how much of it is editing and how much of it they really felt in the moment. Stuff got dug up and dredged up β¦ that part was the most surprising.β
Earlier this year, Bachelor Nation watched Grant Ellis develop connections with both Litia and Juliana Pasquarosa during his weeks-long journey. During the March 24 finale, he broke things off with Litia β after allegedly assuring her the night before that they were going to get engaged β and proposed to Juliana, 29. Litia confronted Grant about seemingly leading her on during the live portion of the finale.
βI was very excited for it to be out there and for it to be over. I was obviously very nervous because it was live and I didnβt know how everyone was gonna respond to it,β Litia told Us. βI hadnβt seen our breakup yet, so I didnβt really know how that was gonna go. But I had closure the day that we broke up. Our conversation was 45 minutes long, and I said everything I needed to say on that day β and really everything I said was things that had happened throughout the course of the season.β
βThe Bachelorβ Runner-Up Litia Gives 1st Interview About Grant
Litia explained that her comments to Grant during the live show were largely things she said during their breakup that didnβt make the cut.
βThey canβt include a 45-minute conversation in a three-hour finale, so I just knew that I was gonna have to give everyone context for my reaction,β she said. βIβm not mad anymore. Itβs disappointing and I desire accountability β I think that is all I really cared about. I wasnβt trying to hold anyoneβs feet to the fire or anything. I was just like, βThis is context for my reaction and every happiness to everybody else.'β
βThatβs what Iβm responsible for at the end of the day β saying my piece,β she continued. βSo if it looks like Iβm only focusing on myself, thatβs correct, thatβs the story that Iβm responsible for telling.β
One of Litiaβs comments that garnered a lot of attention was noting that Juliana should βhave a lot of questions,β given the previous promises Grant had made to her. Juliana has since stated her feelings were hurt by how things went down.

βI donβt really have anything to say to Grant. I have said it several times, but to Juliana, I hope that sheβs happy. I know thereβs been some bumpiness between us, like, publicly, but I donβt have any hostility or anything for her,β Litia told Us. βI wish her happiness and I hope everythingβs going well.β While Litia said she hasnβt spoken to them, she added, βIf I were to see them, it would be very civil.β
Acknowledging that dating on TV is βso differentβ than dating in βreal life,β Litia said that feelings and whether you βhave chemistryβ is real. She also noted that she will take lessons she learned from the show into the IRL dating scene.
βPretty early on in the season, he said something to me that kind of threw me off a little bit. I addressed it and I think he handled it perfectly, but it was something that in past relationships, I wouldβve been so petrified to bring up because it seems a little too deep. Like, βWell weβve been together total for 20 minutes and youβre gonna call out a random comment that I said?'β she explained. β[But] you can do it in a respectful, nice way if something pops up β a red flag or just even, like, a yellow flag, itβs OK to address it and not waste your time.β
In addition to getting love from fans for holding Grant accountable, Litiaβs openness about dating as biracial Mormon woman resonated with viewers.
Bachelor's Grant and Juliana Break Silence on Litia's Finale Comments
βI think it makes me rare. It makes me unique,β Litia said with a smile. βItβs definitely isolating at times because I donβt know anyone thatβs dealing with the exact same set of circumstances, but I think that feeling alone or feeling isolated β especially in dating β is not unique. β¦ I think all women do that, [ask], βIs it because my hairβs too short? Is it because I gained 10 pounds? Is it because I have this job?β We all kind of question ourselves and pick ourselves apart on behalf of the people that weβre dating when itβs so unnecessary.β
Litia said itβs βa test of knowing your value and knowing what you bring to the tableβ to come into to every new interaction or relationship [with the attitude of], βI know all the things that are positive that I bring, so Iβm not gonna pick myself apart before the other person picks me apart.'β
When it comes to her religion, Litia said there are βso manyβ misconceptions about dating someone who is a Mormon.

βOne misconception was, βLitia wants to have kids because sheβs been conditioned and sheβs been this, this and this.β Iβm like, if I was subscribing to every stereotype that exists about my religion, I wouldβve been married at 20, Iβd have four kids. I never wouldβve done so many other things,β she explained. βThey just kind of assume that Iβm not capable of critical thinking because I subscribe to organized religion and βcause Iβm a Christian and all of that.β
Other than opting for an outing for a soda instead of heading to a bar for a drink, Litia said βthere are good guys and bad guysβ within the Mormon dating scene just like there would be within any group of men.
Juliana Claps Back at Comment About Litiaβs Connection With Bachelor Grant
Us couldnβt talk about being a Mormon without bringing up season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which, luckily, Litia is very well-versed on.
βOne thing that I really like about both [The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and Mormon Wives] is that it portrays every woman as a real person whoβs dynamic and nuanced,β she said. βEveryone has layers. And like, yes, you may be a part of a certain religion, but youβre also a woman and youβre also a mom and a wife, or youβre single or everyone is going through these things that are actually shared experiences. We are more similar to everyone else than we are dissimilar.β
Litia noted that there is a lot of βspeculation about specific choices people make in their sex livesβ or how to handle other topics that arenβt βin line with our religion.β
βI can only speak for myself and my own experience, but church is for people who want peace,β she continued. βReligion is for people who are seeking a greater purpose and who want to feel connected to a community and who wanna feel supported. And that is especially for people that made mistakes or that made choices that they regretted, they absolutely need peace. Itβs not for perfect people.β
Litia gives credit to Taylor Frankie Paul, specifically, for being a βgreat exampleβ of that.
βShe made choices that she didnβt like and has found a way to make the church or to make our religion something that enriches her life and that she knows that itβs for her β itβs for everyone who wants it,β Litia said. βAnd if you donβt want it β thatβs the other thing too β weβre not pushing it on anyone. It is something that brings me peace. Itβs something that brings me joy. Thatβs why itβs a part of my life.β
When it comes to reality TV, Litia hasnβt just interacted with the stars from her couch. She met Kendall Jenner (and Hailey Bieber) at Coachella β and they were all-in on The Bachelor.
βKendall and Hailey both watched the season,β she said. βKendall walked up to me and was so friendly and so kind. It was the most surreal thing just because theyβre icons in fashion, obviously. But at that time there was a lot of discourse with Grant and Juliana, and I was like, βHow do you guys deal with hate?β Especially Hailey was going through all of that at that point. And so it was so interesting to talk to them about that.β
Greta Gerwig Reveals Which Reality TV Show Makes Her βHappyβ
Jenner and Bieberβs pro advice? βThey both said the same thing: βDonβt look at it. But obviously, like, we still see it, but donβt look at it,'β she said. βItβs good advice.β
Litia also takes style cues from Jenner and Bieber. She often posts about fashion and beauty on social media.
βI love chunky jewelry [and] funky, beaded things. I think that quiet luxury has been such a dominant movement in fashion lately. I am excited this summer to see something a little bit more funky,β Litia said. βI wanna get a little bit crazy β¦ and be fun and funky and mix and match. I want it to be more exciting β patterns, prints and bright colors.β
She isnβt limiting herself to just style or reality TV, though.
βI met a creator recently that was like, βOh, what kind of content do you make?β And I was like, βI donβt know yet.β Iβm figuring it out,β she said. βToday, I made an outfit video. Tomorrow, Iβm probably gonna talk about my feelings. I try to just post whatever I am feeling in the moment. I definitely am in my head a lot because of the show and, like, all the negative things that can come with it. But the content that I like and the creators that I follow and I enjoy following are people that are just posting whatever theyβre thinking about.β
