Chrissy Teigen and John Legend were able to return home just in time for their daughter Esti’s second birthday.

β€œI’m feeling grateful to be back home,” Teigen, 39, wrote via Instagram Story on Monday, January 13, alongside a photo of a homemade cake. β€œThis is all I could muster up for Esti’s birthday.”

The cake was decorated with chocolate frosting and multicolored sprinkles and featured two action figures of Esti’s favorite wrestler John Cena. In addition to Esti, Teigen and Legend, 46, share Luna, 8, Miles, 6, and Wren, 18 months.

Before Esti’s special day, the family was forced to evacuate their home amid the Los Angeles wildfires.

β€œThis is surreal I’m very scared now. Packing,” Teigen wrote on Wednesday, January 8, as she prepared to go to a hotel with Legend and their children.

Wildfires broke out in the Pacific Palisades on January 7 and quickly spread throughout other parts of Los Angeles. Many celebrities who live in the area have offered updates about losing their homes and personal belongings. Others continue to evacuate the city amid the rapidly changing natural disaster.

Actor Milo Ventimiglia got emotional on Thursday, January 9, as he revealed that his home with wife Jarah Mariano, who is nine months pregnant, was completely destroyed.

β€œYou start thinking about all the memories in different parts of the house and whatnot and then you see your neighbor’s houses and everything kind of around and your heart just breaks,” he told CBS News. β€œIt’s a kind of a shock moment where you go, β€˜This is real, this is happening,’ and at a certain point, you just turn it off. What good is it to continue watching? We kind of accepted the loss.”

Ventimiglia, 47, acknowledged the parallel between his loss and his This Is Us character, Jack Pearson, who died from smoke inhalation after a slow cooker caused his family’s home to burn to the ground.

β€œYou know, it’s not lost on me, life imitating art,” he added while reflecting on his personal next steps. β€œWe got good friends and we got good people we’re working with and we’ll make do. Wife and baby and dog, most important.”

John Mayer, meanwhile, shared an emotional post about preparing to lose significant items due to the ongoing wildfires.

β€œThis is the most valuable thing I own. It’s a folder of photos of my father, spanning his life from being a baby, an educator, a husband and a father. It’s the only evidence of his life that will exist over time,” he wrote via Instagram on Thursday alongside a photo of a folder. β€œThese are the β€˜documents’ you read about people taking from their homes. When you hear someone say they’ve lost everything in a fire, this is much of that everything, if not all of it.”

He continued: β€œThose who say they’ll be okay still have their folders and their albums. Those who are inconsolable have lost them. Just behind the immeasurable loss of life is the loss of the proof of life.”

Mayer, 47, offered a message of support to others being displaced.

β€œI don’t practice prayer but tonight I will say one for everyone who no longer has these items. It’s not about the art and the collectibles. It’s the photos, the letters, the class rings, the eyeglasses and the things we keep to remind us that those we loved were here,” he added. β€œMay those who have lost so much find some semblance of hope and support from their family and friends. Stay safe, look out for yourself and for one another, and trust that humanity and all it entails, though sometimes hard to see, is alive and well. This is truly devastating.”

Kate Middleton Discusses Cancer 'Side Effects' During Hospital Visit

14 January 2025 at 06:23

For her first public engagement of 2025, Princess Kate Middleton returned to the hospital where she underwent cancer treatment.

The Princess of Wales, 43, paid a visit to the staff and patients of the Royal Marsden Hospital in London on Tuesday, January 14, during which she opened up about her own recovery journey. β€œYou think treatment’s finished, crack on with that … daily tasks, but that’s still, like, a real challenge,” she said to staff members, per the Daily Mail. β€œAnd talking … the words totally disappear … understanding that as a patient, yes, there are side effects around treatment, but actually there are more long-term side effects.”

According to the outlet, Kate emphasized the power of β€œresilience” to one patient, stating: β€œIt’s to keep coming back … to be as positive as you are. The treatments are really so different and so varied, it impacts families differently.”

Kate braved the winter weather in a brown plaid coat for her latest outing, which she wore on top of a simple and chic maroon long-sleeved dress. She completed the look with a matching maroon handbag.

She was greeted by the hospital’s chief executive, Dame Cally Palmer, and chairman, Sir Douglas Flint. β€œI was just saying, coming in the front entrance here, having made so many quiet, private visits, actually it’s quite nice,” she said upon arrival, per Hello! magazine.

While speaking with more patients, one person reportedly told Kate that she’s β€œmanaged the children amazingly well” while dealing with her health issues, to which she replied, β€œOh thanks … it’s just trying to do the best.” (Kate shares kids Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, with her husband, Prince William.)

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace told multiple outlets on Tuesday that Kate β€œwanted to make the journey to both show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world leading care and treatment [that] Marsden provides.”

Kate’s visit to the hospital comes amid news that she and William, 42, have become joint patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. William, however, did not join his wife during her Tuesday visit.

Kate Middleton Gives Rare Comment on Her Cancer Journey: 'Hugely Grateful’

β€œWe were honored to welcome Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales to The Royal Marsden in Chelsea this morning, and are delighted that Her Royal Highness is now joining His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales in becoming Joint Patrons of our specialist cancer center,” Palmer, 67, said in a Tuesday statement, per Hello! magazine.

She added: β€œWe are incredibly fortunate to receive Royal Patronage – it is inspiring for staff and patients and enables us to shine a light on the outstanding work our staff deliver every day for patients and their families.”

One month after King Charles III announced his own cancer diagnosis, and following months of speculation, Kate revealed in March 2024 that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy for an unspecified form of cancer. β€œWe hope that you’ll understand that as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment,” she said in a video statement at the time. β€œMy work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I’m able. But for now, I must focus on making a full recovery.”

In September 2024, Kate shared that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment but was still on a β€œlong” road to recovery. β€œEveryone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling,” she said in a video featuring new footage of herself, and William with their kids. β€œTo all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright.”

Kate will reportedly follow up her hospital visit by attending the 2025 BAFTA Awards on February 16. She skipped last year’s awards ceremony due to her health, while William walked the event red carpet solo.
