Ryan Reynolds Demands Justin Baldoni Team Pay His Legal Fees Amid Drama

Ryan Reynolds wants Justin Baldoni’s team to pay for his legal fees after being accused of defamation.

“Earlier today we moved for sanctions against the lawyers and parties responsible for the utterly frivolous claims brought against Ryan Reynolds,” Reynolds’ legal team said in a statement to Us Weekly on Tuesday, May 20. “Justin Baldoni’s lawyer and his clients filed a preposterous lawsuit falsely claiming that Ryan Reynolds extorted people he had never met, that he allegedly interfered with business relationships that do not exist, and somehow defamed people he never said a word about based on unspecified statements that do not appear anywhere in their 391-paragraph complaint. These are not serious claims—they are a desperate ploy for clickbait headlines that have no place in federal court.”

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Reynolds’ lawyers filed an amended complaint on Tuesday, after Baldoni and his team accused Reynolds of civil extortion, defamation, and tortious interference.

In the new filing, Reynolds’ lawyers filed a motion for sanctions and slammed the allegations, stating that the claims “do not and cannot exist.” Reynolds’s attorneys previously filed to dismiss Baldoni’s lawsuit back in March, however, the lawsuit is still ongoing.

Justin Baldoni Slams Ryan Reynolds for Being Blake Lively's 'Co-Conspirator'

“Mr. Reynolds provided the Rule 11 Plaintiffs and their counsel an opportunity to save face, explaining these claims’ glaring and fundamental defects and urging that they be withdrawn more than 21 days ago,” the docs read. “Unfortunately, the Rule 11 Plaintiffs and their counsel unequivocally refused to do so, offering no response on these defects except to argue that these issues are appropriately resolved by motion to dismiss and may later be supported by discovery. But these claims’ fundamental failings are not about the parties’ dispute as to the legal arguments relating to their claims, or the facts, or even that all of their claims are weak and meritless (which, they are).”

Reynolds’ attorneys accused Baldoni’s team of violating Rule 11, which requires court filings to be made in good faith and are supported by reasonable inquiry into the facts and law.

“The Rule 11 Plaintiffs’ defamation claims against Mr. Reynolds are likewise frivolous,” the filing read. “The Rule 11 Plaintiffs are only able to identify two statements that they can even claim Mr. Reynolds made, but they concede that each of those statements are exclusively about Baldoni.”

Reynolds’ lawyers alleged that Baldoni’s “frivolous claims” against Reynolds were not made by accident. They argued that the court should impose sanctions and suggested that attorneys’ fees be awarded to Reynolds.

Baldoni, 41, and Reynolds’ legal drama began in December 2024 when the Deadpool actor’s wife, Blake Lively, sued Baldoni. Lively, who costarred in It Ends With Us with Baldoni, accused him of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign against her.

Baldoni, who also directed the film, denied the allegations and subsequently filed his own lawsuit against Lively, 37, Reynolds and her publicist Leslie Sloane. In the $400 million lawsuit, Baldoni accused the couple of civil extortion, defamation, false light invasion of privacy and more. Lively and Reynolds have denied the allegations.

Lively and Baldoni have yet to come to a resolution in their legal drama. A trial is scheduled for March 9, 2026.

Willie Robertson Says Dad Phil and Mom Kay's Health Issues Are Progressing

As Duck Dynasty alum Phil Robertson continues to battle Alzheimer’s, his wife, Kay Robertson, is facing health challenges of her own.

“Dad’s not doing well at all. It’s definitely progressing,” their son Willie Robertson exclusively shares in Us Weekly’s latest cover story. “And mom has shown the same type of symptoms of Alzheimer’s or dementia. It’s just part of life — and mom has her good days.”

Willie, 53, notes it was “great” to have his mother make an appearance on the upcoming series Duck Dynasty: The Revival, but tells Us fans of the original reality show shouldn’t expect frequent cameos. “She’s probably not going to be able to do that in the future,” he says. “She also has more health problems, as well. But we’re there.”

The family’s close-knit relationship has been stronger than ever amid Phil, 79, and Kay’s health struggles. “We [still] spend time together, but they lived a great journey and taught us a lot,” Willie tells Us. “[My wife] Korie [Robertson] and I are very appreciative of what we were able to do on Duck Dynasty, to be able to see that.”

Which 'Duck Dynasty' Stars Are — And Aren't — Returning for Revival

Reflecting on his parents’ reality TV stardom, he continued, “I think people don’t realize [when] the show started for them and Uncle Si [Robertson], they were all in their mid-sixties, and so they were retired and pretty much done. They thought they’d done everything in life. And so, for them to have that last push and be on television, and I’m just glad that people got to see them and enjoy that when we had that time.”

Willie is one of Phil and Kay’s four children, including brothers Alan, Jase and Jep. In 2020, Phil learned he is also father of a daughter named Phyllis following an affair he had in the ‘70s.

On a December 2024 episode of the “Unashamed with the Robertson Family” podcast, Jase, 55, revealed that his father had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Jase told his podcast listeners last month that Phil’s health “hasn’t been good.”

Amid a “really difficult” past year, Korie, 51, tells Us it’s been “sweet” to see how her husband has stepped up to look after his parents. “They’ve just come together and just really, it’s brought the family together in a way,” she explains. “And I know sometimes that can be something that tears families apart, but for our family, everyone’s just come around and brought them together.”

Willie agreed that his parents’ health gives him a greater appreciation for the “small, tiny moments” in life, in addition to bringing him and his siblings closer. “I’m glad they’re here,” he says. “I’m glad I get to see them a lot, too, ‘cause I know a lot of families don’t get to see each other a lot, but we do. It really has meant a lot.”

The cast includes Willie and Korie’s daughter Sadie Robertson, who also exclusively opens up about her grandparents’ health in Us’ newest cover story. (Willie and Kori share a total of six kids, including Rebecca, 36, John, 29, Will, 23, Bella, 22, and Rowdy, 22.)

'Duck Dynasty' Cast: Where Are They Now?

“Kind of a silver lining, blessing in disguise, is that their love for one another is so prevalent in the most beautiful way through such a tragic situation,” Sadie, 27, tells Us. “Just seeing two people love each other that much, who have loved each other since they were 15 years old, is so inspiring when it comes to love and going through hard times. And so, it has been very hard to watch them go through what they’ve gone through but seeing them comfort each other and it has been really, really beautiful.”

WATCH: Democrat lawmaker charged with assaulting federal agents laughs off fundraising questions

Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J., refused to answer Fox News' questions over whether her motivations for storming a federal immigration detention center earlier this month was to increase her public image, after it was uncovered McIver had been fundraising off the incident that has led to federal charges for the New Jersey Democrat.

The Department of Justice publicly outlined federal charges against McIver on Tuesday, accusing her of allegedly "assaulting, impeding and interfering with law enforcement" earlier this month at a Newark-area immigrant detention facility known as Delaney Hall. McIver was there with two other members of Congress to conduct what they claimed were their congressionally mandated oversight duties, as well as the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey, Ras Baraka, who was subsequently arrested following the incident but later had his charges dropped.

"Congresswoman, would you be able to tell us what made you decide to fundraise off the incident, the charges?" McIver was asked.

DEM LAWMAKER FUNDRAISES OFF FEDERAL ASSAULT CHARGES AFTER ICE FACILITY CONFRONTATION: 'DOING MY JOB'

"No comment," McIver said as she laughed off the reporter asking the question. "Have a wonderful day."

"How do you respond to people who might think that's why you went to the ICE facility? That you wanted to fundraise off of it?"

But the follow-up question went unanswered as the congresswoman repeatedly ignored the reporter's questions and instead focused her attention on a discussion with her staff that were accompanying McIver at the time.

"Any comment, congresswoman, on the fundraising? Anything you could have done different to avoid the charges?"

DOJ CITES BODYCAM FOOTAGE IN CHARGING DOCUMENT FOR HOUSE DEM MCIVER

On Tuesday, Fox News Digital uncovered McIver was fundraising off her charges shortly after they came down from the Justice Department. Investigators accused McIver of assaulting two federal agents at Delaney Hall, according to the charging documents.

Law enforcement says McIver assaulted the agents when she "slammed her forearm into the body of a uniformed" immigration official while trying to "restrain the agent by forcibly grabbing him." McIver also allegedly tried to block agents from arresting Baraka and, after he was put in handcuffs, allegedly "pushed an ICE officer and used her forearms to forcibly strike the agent."

"As you know, Trump is using his Department of Justice to target political opponents. Less than two weeks ago, I was doing my job and conducting oversight at an ICE facility in my city," a fundraising text obtained by Fox News Digital stated.

"Now, the Trump admin has filed charges against me. This is a first-and it's a flashing red light for our democracy," it continues. "I'm sounding the alarm and asking you to donate now so we can fight these charges and keep speaking truth to power."
