  • Ant Anstead and Christina Haack were married from December 2018 to June 2021.
  • After a messy custody battle in 2022, they eventually agreed on joint custody of their son, Hudson.
  • The exes seemed to be on better terms after Haack filed for divorce from Josh Hall.

Christina Haack and Ant Anstead have reunited — on TV, that is.

Haack, 41, and Anstead, 45, were married from December 2018 to 2021, during which they welcomed their son Hudson, 5.

Since their split, Anstead and Haack's co-parenting relationship has had its ups and downs, including a messy custody battle in 2022.

However, Anstead's appearance on Haack's latest HGTV series, "The Flip Off," on Wednesday indicated that the exes are on better terms than they have been in years.

Here's a timeline of Anstead and Haack's relationship.

In December 2016, Haack and Tarek El Moussa, 43, her first husband and "Flip or Flop" costar, announced they were separating. During their marriage, Haack and El Moussa had two children: Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9.

Eight months later, a mutual friend introduced Haack to "Celebrity IOU: Joyride" star Ant Anstead, House Beautiful reported. Anstead, like Haack, had two children from a previous marriage.

They initially kept their relationship private.

They didn't make their engagement public before saying "I do," but Anstead said he and Haack were "celebrating something special" in the caption of a photo he posted of Haack on December 17.

"We pulled off the perfect surprise wedding," Haack told People of the nuptials at the time.

Haack took to Instagram in another now-deleted post to share that she had given birth to her third child.

"Ant and I are so excited to welcome Hudson London Anstead into the world. Our hearts are SO full of love and joy," she captioned the post.

Haack also documented Taylor and Brayden meeting their brother for the first time in her docuseries, "Christina on the Coast."

September 2020: Haack and Anstead announced they were separating.

The couple announced they were separating just a year after Hudson was born. Haack shared the news in a now-deleted Instagram post, according to People.

"Ant and I have made the difficult decision to separate. We are grateful for each other and as always, our children will remain our priority," she said. "We appreciate your support and ask for privacy for us and our family as we navigate the future."

Anstead also announced the separation on his Instagram. His caption seemed to indicate Haack had initiated the separation.

"Anyone who really knows me knows that I don't like to share private matters publicly. I have remained silent while holding on to hope," he captioned a selfie of the pair. "I never gave up on us. I pray Christina's decision brings her happiness."

Anstead said in court documents reviewed by Business Insider that he was Hudson's "primary parent" and that Haack only spent an average of "9 full days each month" with their son.

Anstead also said in the court documents that Haack had put Hudson in "dangerous" situations, including a sunburn so severe it made him cry.

On another occasion, Anstead said Haack returned Hudson to him without telling him her family had COVID.

"At the time, my partner was filming her new project and her covid diagnosis placed the whole production on pause," he said in the filing, referring to Zellweger.

The filing also said that Haack used her time with Hudson to post him on social media, sometimes for sponsored content. Anstead requested that a judge block Haack from posting Hudson in any "commercial endeavor" until they reached a new custody agreement.

Anstead requested a "regular" custody schedule that would give Haack visitation rights on "alternating weekends, Friday at 4 p.m. until Sunday at 6 p.m. commencing May 6, 2022, in California only, and except for vacations," according to the court documents.

"This will allow Christina's time to be stepped-up over the next several months to match the schedule she has with her other children," the filing said.

Anstead declined to comment on the matter when contacted by BI.

"What Ant is doing deeply saddens me," Haack said. "If this was really about Hudson, as he says, this should have been handled privately with a private judge or mediation, as myself and my attorney have suggested."

"I have had my share of ups and downs, but I am a good mom, and I love my children with all my heart, and I will always protect them," the statement said.

A judge denied Anstead's ex parte custody application on April 28, 2022, both because he did not give Haack enough notice and he did not provide sufficient evidence that Hudson was in danger, according to People.

The judge's ruling scheduled a hearing for June 28 to determine whether Anstead's custody request should be granted.

Representatives for Anstead did not respond to a request for comment from BI on the ruling. Haack declined to comment on the judge's decision.

In a response reviewed by BI, Haack said she was "shocked to see the false allegations against me" and Anstead's "belief that he has been failing to protect our son by sharing custodial time with me."

She denied multiple allegations Anstead made against her in the response, saying he was "misleading" the court about their custody arrangement.

"Mr. Anstead has now taken the position that he is the defacto primary parent of our son, which is not accurate," she said. "Anstead does not count any day wherein we exchange our son as a custodial day for me. He also counts days where I made an accommodation or gave a right of first refusal to him as his day."

"That is why there is a huge discrepancy in his mind from our accurate schedule. His attempt to mislead the court is transparent when presented with the true facts," Haack went on to say. "I do not count my accommodations as decreasing my custodial time, but as me being a supportive coparent."

Representatives for Anstead and Haack did not respond to requests for comment from BI at the time.

In a now-deleted post, Hall shared a photo of himself, Haack, and her three children, saying he would "always protect her."

"Never did I think taking on 3 kids from 2 other males would be easy. What I was sure of, the woman connected to them was worth it all," Hall captioned the post. "I am not these kids biological father, they have those. What I will be is the best example of a quality human being, always show them how to treat their mother with respect and support them in any way I can during their development."

"Christina and I will always remain unfazed by any outside noise and save the kids from any unnecessary trauma," his caption said.

"I will always protect her, keep her safe and no one will hurt her with me in the picture," he said. "She doesn't bother anyone, she deserves the same in return. I will ensure that's the case."

According to court documents reviewed by BI, the mediation was scheduled for June 15, 2022, and their custody hearing was later postponed to March 2023.

Amid the custody battle, Anstead filed a supplemental declaration on September 26, which BI reviewed. He said he and Haack had "resolved" their custody issues "without the need for court intervention" and maintained their son's 50/50 custody schedule.

However, in the declaration, Anstead also reiterated his assertions about Haack's social media posts about Hudson and requested that a judge grant him full legal custody.

In the declaration, Anstead said Haack had "already exploited Hudson in numerous paid promotions on social media" and that he had a "fear she also has footage of him, to be used in one of her 'reality' TV shows, without my knowledge or consent, and continues to film him despite my objections."

"l do not believe it is in Hudson's best interests to be exploited by his mother for professional and financial gain," he said. "As she insists that he should be, I ask the court to give me legal custody so I can make the decisions to protect Hudson and prevent this from happening."

Representatives for Anstead did not respond to a request for comment from BI on the matter at the time.

In her supplemental declaration, which BI reviewed, Haack said, "From the start, Ant's intention was not to resolve this matter privately and amicably."

"I have never exploited our son Hudson," Haack's declaration said. "He appeared in a few of my own Instagram ads that each took less than minutes to film. I have all the footage and they were all fun activities that he enjoyed doing, such as playing with toys or making cookies."

Haack also said Anstead wanted to be able to post Hudson on social media and tag his brand Radford, while she had "repeatedly taken the position that I will agree that Hudson shall not appear on television or on social media."

"Ant insists that he be allowed to post Hudson on his social media, while tagging products and businesses," Haack said. "Ant admits in his supplemental declaration that he will usually 'tag' his business 'Radford.' It is Ant who insists that he be able to use Hudson in social media posts to promote the post and expand its 'organic' reach."

"If it is in the best interest of Hudson to be clear of public scrutiny, I feel Hudson should be off all public social media until he is old enough to make his own decisions," Haack said in the declaration.

In the same document, Haack also said Anstead "never had a problem" with Hudson appearing on Instagram or their HGTV shows until 2021, calling his declaration "hypocritical."

Haack noted that Anstead also refused to resolve their issues in mediation in her declaration, making their custody disagreement public record.

"We agreed to resolve this custody matter privately, and yet he continues to file publicly, proving his desire and need for the public's attention," Haack said. "It is all quite disturbing, and now that it is out in the public, it will be far more damaging to Hudson in the long run when he is old enough to see how this matter played out publicly."

Representatives for Haack declined to comment on the matter when contacted by BI at the time.

Haack posted a since-deleted selfie on October 2, sharing in the caption that she would no longer be sharing any photos of Hudson on her social media.

"I am mentally exhausted over the recent false accusations against me," she said. "Hudson's father has made attempts to turn my family, friends and fans against me through manipulation tactics and false information. This has had great impact on me and my household."

"Because of this, I have made the decision to no longer feature Hudson on Instagram, my tv shows or any social platforms until he is old enough to make this decision for himself," she wrote.

Haack also said she'd always been fine with Hudson not appearing on public platforms, though she wanted him to "participate in the fun activities/outings with our family/siblings."

"Hudson's father has made it clear via his public court filings he is using Instagram to rate the kind of parent I am, since that is the only access he has to my personal life," Haack added. "This has been the case since July 2020. This is unnecessary pressure for a platform that is supposed to be used to share moments chosen, rather than a judgment tool…especially since this is a very small fraction of my personal life as the rest is kept between me and my family," she said.

"My personal collection of photos on my phone and in our home are filled with memories of my children, so Hudson will be just fine without having his presence displayed on a public forum," Haack wrote. "Thank you to all the people who can see beyond the nonsense being thrown at me. I am and will ALWAYS remain a protective mother."

Haack has since returned to posting shots of Hudson on her Instagram.

A stipulation to modify a judgment signed by a California judge on November 18 and reviewed by BI states that Haack and Anstead will continue to have joint legal and physical custody of Hudson. Their March 2023 hearing was canceled as a result of the stipulation.

Haack's lawyer filed the papers, but both Haack and Anstead signed them.

The stipulation altered the former spouses' holiday schedule for Hudson, with the pair switching off for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, July 4th, and Halloween annually, depending on whether the year is even or odd.

The stipulation did not mention how Hudson may appear on Anstead and Haack's social media platforms or television shows.

Representatives for Haack and Anstead declined to comment when contacted by BI at the time.

Haack and Hall filed for divorce in June 2024, less than three years after they tied the knot.

In the months following her separation from Hall, Haack's relationship with Anstead seemed to be on better terms based on her Instagram.

She refollowed Anstead on Instagram in August, which he reciprocated in October. The pair then occasionally interacted on the platform, tagging each other in photos of Hudson on their stories and commenting on each other's posts of their son.

In May 2024, HGTV announced that Haack and Hall were filming "The Flip Off" with Tarek and Heather Rae El Moussa. The series would be a competition to see who could profit most from a home flip.

Haack and Hall were competing against the El Moussas on the series, but Haack competed on the show solo after she and Hall split.

In November, Anstead was spotted on the set of the series with Haack, and a month later, HGTV announced Anstead was one of the guest judges who would evaluate spaces in Haack's and the El Moussas' homes for the series.

When Haack told the El Moussas on the phone that she selected Anstead as a judge, they both expressed shock, saying, "What?" and "Oh my gosh."

The El Moussas told People they were surprised when Haack picked Anstead, as Heather Rae El Moussa thought they "weren't talking."

I'm a real-estate expert who has flipped over 1,000 homes. These 6 lessons have shaped my career.

Tarek El Moussa smiles in front of a black wall.
Tarek El Moussa is a business owner and HGTV star.

Heidi Gutman-Guillaume

  • Tarek El Moussa is an HGTV star and the owner and CEO of Tarek Buys Houses and TEM Capital.
  • He learned six lessons throughout his career that have made him a real-estate mogul.
  • El Moussa believes in cold calling and working with the right people to find success in real estate.

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Tarek El Moussa, 43, an HGTV star and the CEO and owner of Tarek Buys Houses and TEM Capital. The following has been edited for length and clarity.

I'm a TV personality, a CEO, an entrepreneur, and a father. The foundation of all of that was real-estate investing.

There was really no barrier to entry to getting into the business and starting to sell houses other than getting a license. I grew up in a lower-end community in Southern California, and I never knew what was out there until I started looking at real estate.

I've been running Tarek Buys House since 2010 to flip houses and doing commercial real estate for about 10 years. I started TEM Capital about six years ago. I realized I could do much bigger and better deals if I had more money and more partners, and that's how TEM Capital was born. The goal is to help accredited investors increase their wealth by partnering with me to buy real estate.

In 2025, Tarek Buys Houses will probably flip between 300 and 400 houses.

For TEM Capital, we're about to launch our triple equity fund. We'll take houses and turn them into triplexes and fourplexes. We're also about to launch our distressed multifamily fund. Just like I buy, fix, and sell houses, we buy 400-unit apartment buildings, fix them, and sell them.

Here are the six biggest lessons that have contributed to my real estate and business success.

Put in the effort

In my first six months in the business, I totally struck out. I wasn't making money, and then, one day, I got hyper-focused and decided to talk to 50 people who owned a house every day.

My real-estate coach told me I had to talk to 20 people a day. I told him I would talk to 50. He said, "That's what everybody says. Nobody does it." And I did it.

Ninety days later, I brought in almost $300,000 in revenue for the company, which completely changed my life.

Tarek El Moussa smiles with a tool hanging over his shoulder.

Peter Tran

A lot of people believe it takes years to make money. That's not true.

You just have to decide to go for it, put in the work, take the time to learn, study, and practice, and get ready to fail a few times. Eventually, you're going to win.

People make all the difference

Make sure you work with the right people. It is a lot of work to find the right people.

I used to be terrified to let people go, change staff, or fire people because I always try to get them to change or improve. Then, I learned it's really about finding that right team member.

You have to hold your team accountable, and you have to hold yourself accountable.

It's important that every one of my team members know that I am as committed to what they are doing as they are.

Commit to cold calling

If you're not talking to people every single day that you do not know, you will never be in the real-estate business.

The money is in the people you do not know. In this business, you look for a needle in a haystack, and the only way to find that needle is to move a lot of hay.

I tell all my staff members every day that our minimum goal is 50 conversations a day with someone we've never talked to.

That's how you learn who needs to sell or who has a distressed property. I know there are people all over the country today thinking, "Man, we need to sell this house." They don't know we want to buy it, so we need to find them.

People watch YouTube and read books, but you know what they never do? They never actually go look at a house, call a homeowner about a foreclosure, or call a real-estate agent to ask if they have any off-market distress deals.

The only thing that matters is calling real-estate agents and asking them if they have any distressed properties that you can buy. If someone were to do that all day, every day for a year, they would change their life.

Use setbacks to get stronger

The more pain we go through, the stronger we get.

If I had not gone through all these painful experiences, all these highs and lows of winning and losing and losing money, it wouldn't have made me as strong as I am today.

The only way to continue growing is to accept that you will have to go through painful processes that will help you go further.

You have to acknowledge the fact that life is not fair. You gotta pick up the pieces, keep your head up, and keep going.

Find your magic hour

I'm a big believer in creating a sleep schedule that works for the life you live. I used to be one of those people who said, "I'm a night person, blah, blah, blah." It's an excuse. It's easier to go to bed late than it is to wake up early.

I was feeling overwhelmed by life because I woke up at 6:45 or 7 a.m. Then you have the kids, and you're trying to squeeze in the gym and then go to work. With all of life's responsibilities, I was just out of time.

One day, I decided to start waking up at 4:30, and picking up that extra two hours a day completely changed my life. For the first time, I had two hours of "me time."

No one's awake. It's dark downstairs, and I have the fire going. It's my magic hour where I can think and create in peace.

Most people are so overwhelmed by business, family, cellphones, and social media that they never have time for themselves. I'm a big believer that we need some time for ourselves.

Build career growth into your routine

I'm evolving every day. I'm learning every day. I'm growing every day.

During my magic hour, I'm studying. I'm reading. I'm learning about AI. I'm learning about technology. I'm learning about marketing. I'm learning about systems. I'm watching YouTube videos.

When I drive to the gym every morning, I leave my house at 6:40 and listen to books on Audible for 20 minutes. I then get there, do cardio, and listen to more books. I'm always educating myself.

I'm all about killing two birds with one stone. If I have a conference call or something, I'll go for a walk. That way, I can get my cardio in while being on a call and I'm not even noticing that I'm walking.

'Onyx Storm' ends on a cliffhanger, but fans already have theories about the 4th book

  • "Onyx Storm" by Rebecca Yarros ended on a cliffhanger.
  • Violet doesn't remember the last 12 hours, and Xaden and three other riders are missing.
  • Violet's connection to the goddess Dunne may also become important.

Rebecca Yarros' "Onyx Storm" left readers with more questions than answers about dragon rider Violet Sorrengail's fate.

"Onyx Storm" is the third book in Yarros' "Empyrean" series, a romantasy full of dragons, magical battles, and steamy romance scenes. The book follows Yarros' first two installments in the series, "Fourth Wing" and "Iron Flame," becoming the fastest-selling adult novel in 20 years, according to The New York Times.

Yarros isn't working on the fourth book in the series yet, which will be tough for readers since the ending of "Onyx Storm" was filled with vague information meant to keep readers on their toes.

Read on for an explanation of the ending of "Onyx Storm" and popular theories about what it might mean for Violet.

There are heavy spoilers for the "Empyrean" series ahead.

'Onyx Storm' features a cliffhanger ending

"Onyx Storm" culminates in a battle between venin and riders.

Xaden Riorson, Violet's love interest, ends the battle by submitting to his venin power, channeling from the earth to wipe out the dark wielders and the wyvern they control. Meanwhile, Violet manages to kill the venin Theophanie before fainting.

The battle is described from multiple points of view, including Xaden's. When the scene is described from his perspective, he discovers he has a new venin "brother," a rider that turned. After he ends the battle, Xaden tells his dragon Sgaeyl he wants to ask Violet for a favor, urging her to help him.

Red Tower

In the last chapter, Violet awakens confused at Riorson House, Xaden's home, with fellow rider Imogen Cardulo. Her brother Brennan informs her that she has been missing for 12 hours and that four riders, including Xaden and his best friend Garrick Tavis, are missing.

Violet also discovers she is wearing a wedding ring and holds a blessing from the head priestess of Dunne's temple over her marriage to Xaden. On the blessing, a note from Xaden reads, "Don't look for me. It's yours now."

In the book's final lines, Violet realizes Imogen used her signet power to wipe her memory of the night's events. When Violet asks her what she did, Imogen responds, "What you asked me to."

The end is shocking and intentionally vague, leaving readers to stew over multiple mysteries until the fourth "Empyrean" novel is released.

Xaden's new 'brother' could be multiple people

Among the ending's mysteries is the identity of the person who turned venin. He is not named before the book ends, but it includes clues about who he might be.

When Xaden first sees his new "brother," he describes feeling shocked, particularly because the person is someone close to him. He says he "could no more raise a blade to his throat than I could Violet."

At an event in Denver on February 2, Yarros told readers to "pay attention to who's missing at the end" of "Onyx Storm" and "to someone who feels like whatever they have given is not enough, which is always the case when you turn venin."

In addition to Xaden and Garrick, there are three riders with murky whereabouts at the end of the novel: Bodhi Durran, Xaden's cousin; Aaric Graycastle, a prince of Navarre; and Dain Aetos, Violet's childhood best friend.

Bodhi last appears in the book in a chapter told from Imogen's perspective, where she spots him "on his hands and knees across the town square, retching." Xaden catches a glimpse of Dain as he gives into his venin powers, saying he tears "the heart from a wyvern who has Dain and Cath backed into a corner." And before Violet faced off against Theophanie, Tairn spotted Aaric and his dragon bringing soldiers from Zehyllna to fight in the battle, and he wasn't mentioned again.

Of the four possibilities, Bodhi and Garrick seem most likely to fit Xaden's description of his new brother, as Xaden distrusts Dain and isn't particularly close to Aaric. Likewise, both Garrick and Bodhi's powers seem to fail them in the book's final chapters.

When Bodhi tries to help Violet fight Theophanie, they discover his ability to counter other riders' signet powers doesn't work on venin, and his dragon whisks him away from the battle, not giving him the chance to help Violet.

Meanwhile, Garrick is exhausted from using his distance-wielding powers just before Xaden ends the battle. He tells Imogen that he plans to find a way to aid the riders even if his powers are depleted.

Desperation could have fueled either of them to turn, though it would be more in line with Bodhi's character arc. Bodhi complained throughout "Onyx Storm" that Xaden wouldn't allow him to fight for Tyrrendor, seeming frustrated by his role as first in line for the throne. Plus, Imogen may have seen Bodhi channeling power from the ground when she thought she saw him vomiting.

Violet has multiple connections to Dunne

Yarros revealed that Violet has multiple connections to the goddess Dunne, a goddess of war, throughout "Onyx Storm."

When they visit the Isle of Dunne, Violet sees a child with silver-tipped hair, just like hers. A priestess there tells her that she must have started the process of being "dedicated" to Dunne, but Violet disregards the remark.

However, Violet later finds out from her sister Mira that her father attempted to dedicate her to Dunne, but a priestess wouldn't complete the process because of Violet's possible paths.

"She said the heart that beat for you — or within you — would do the wrong thing for the right reason, reach for unspeakable power, and turn dark," Mira said. Xaden then confesses to Mira that he turned venin, saying the priestess must have spoken about him.

Aaric also tells Violet she has to protect Dunne's temple at a battle in Aretia to succeed, and he provides her with a weapon from a high priestess of Dunne that she uses to kill Theophanie, a former priestess of Dunne herself.

A note provided with the weapon says, "A gift from one servant of Dunne to another. I must warn you — only those touched by the gods should wield their wrath. I will pray to Her that she need not use it to avoid reacquainting herself with the other who curries her favor. Her path is still not set."

And, of course, a Dunne priestess marries Xaden and Violet. Some readers think Violet may have committed herself to Dunne in the missing hours and returned to Riorson House with silver hair, which is why Brennan's "eyes bulge" when he first sees her.

Dunne will likely play a big role in the fourth "Empyrean" book, and many readers suspect the other god "who curries [Violet's] favor" is Malek, the god of death. Throughout the series, Xaden repeatedly comments that he would rather "meet Malek" than lose Violet, making some think Violet may have to actually meet the god to get Xaden back.

Xaden's goodbye note could be rife with meaning

The "it's yours now" aspect of Xaden's note gave many readers pause.

The note may not refer to Tyrrendor, Xaden's dukedom, which Violet will run in his absence as his duchess. Throughout the book, Xaden refers to Tyrrendor with "she" pronouns, saying comments like, "Tyrrendor will open her borders" and "Our family just got Tyrrendor back, and we will not lose her because of your ego."

If he doesn't mean Tyrrendor in his note, it's possible Xaden wanted Violet to know his soul belongs to her. Venin sacrifice pieces of their souls when channeling power from the earth, and Xaden seemed to give up all but a small part of his own in the final battle, clutching onto a piece of it through his love for Violet.

When he tells Sgaeyl he wants to ask Violet for help at the end of the book, he says, "She promised." Earlier in the book, Violet promised Xaden she would "sound the alarm" if he used too much power.

"He'll never go too far, never lose his soul, so I nod," Violet responded to Xaden's request.

Xaden may have wanted Violet to keep her promise to protect his soul, keeping it separate from his body as he descended further into his life as a venin.

Some fans think Xaden put what remained of his soul in Violet's wedding ring, made with an emerald that matched those found on his sword, the Blade of Aretia. Others think his soul may be kept in an empty glass box he was given on the isle of Zihnal. Xaden kept the box in his and Violet's room at Riorson House and even stored the Blade of Aretia inside it.

Violet also received a broken compass on the isle, and some readers think it may ultimately help her find Xaden.

Some fans have theories about Imogen's signet

It's a bombshell at the end of "Onyx Storm" when Imogen reveals she erased Violet's memory at her request.

Violet has seen Imogen use her powers throughout the "Empyrean" series, even asking her to erase Jack Barlowe's memories at the beginning of "Onyx Storm" to protect Xaden. However, some fans think Imogen used her powers on Violet at other points in the series without her knowledge.

For instance, in a bonus chapter from "Fourth Wing" told from Xaden's point of view, Imogen uses her signet to deliver weapons to gryphon riders without detection. Xaden doesn't say Imogen uses her power on Violet directly, but it opens the door to the possibility that Imogen's signet has helped keep Violet in the dark.

Violet may not know the full extent of her relationship with Xaden if Imogen has been controlling what she knows. It's also possible Violet has previously asked Imogen to erase her memories, but it wasn't mentioned in the text.

Others think Imogen may have erased Violet from Xaden's mind to protect Violet from him, which is why he said not to look for him in his goodbye note. Imogen's power will certainly be illuminating in the next "Empyrean" novel.

  • Rebecca Yarros' "Fourth Wing" is being adapted into a TV series.
  • Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society will produce the series for Prime Video.
  • Although a release date and cast hasn't been announced, Yarros offered some clues about the show.

Rebecca Yarros' "Empyrean" series about dragon rider Violet Sorrengail has never been more popular.

When "Onyx Storm," the third book in the romantasy series, was released on January 21, it became the fastest-selling adult novel in 20 years, The New York Times reported.

The first and second books in the series, "Fourth Wing" and "Iron Flame," sat right behind "Onyx Storm" on the bestseller list following its release.

Yarros is taking a break before writing the fourth book in the series, but in the meantime, progress is being made on the series adaptation of "Fourth Wing."

Here's everything we know about the show so far.

'Fourth Wing' is becoming a TV show

In October 2023, Deadline announced that Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society were developing "Fourth Wing" into a Prime Video series. Yarros is also an executive producer for the show.

Outlier Society produced Jordan's "Creed III" and is developing a slate of other series and films in addition to "Fourth Wing."

In July 2024, Outlier Society announced it had hired Moira Walley-Beckett as the showrunner for the series. Walley-Beckett won three Emmy awards for her work as a writer and producer on "Breaking Bad," and she later created "Anne with an E."

As of February, Outlier Society had not announced casting or a release date for the series.

Deadline also reported in October 2023 that Amazon MGM Studios had bought the rights for the whole "Empyrean" book series. In a January interview with Variety, Yarros said she had shared the "five-book arc" for the "Empyrean" series with Amazon and Walley-Beckett.

"They have the five-book arc and the general big points of what happens in between each book, but they don't have the specifics between Book 4 and Book 5, because I'm getting ready to go to my crazy plotting board and plot out every single event that happens in each book so that I make sure that I'm within my two books there," she told Variety.

Yarros talked about the series' pilot while on a book tour for 'Onyx Storm'

Although details about the series are limited, Yarros made a few comments about the show while promoting "Onyx Storm."

Speaking at an engagement on January 24 in New York, Yarros told fans she had read the pilot for the "Fourth Wing" show — and loved it.

"I read the latest version of the pilot last week," she said. "It's really nerve-racking when you read something like that because you're really — you're trusting someone else with your baby, right? And you're trusting someone else to say, like, 'Hey, this is important in your work, and this isn't,' and you kinda get your guard up."

"But guys, I, like, kicked my feet the whole time," she said. "You're gonna love it."

Yarros also praised Walley-Beckett, calling her a "brilliant writer" and saying she maintained the integrity of the book in the pilot.

"All the lines that you love are there. And she really kept the spirit and energy," Yarros said of the pilot. "I can't say enough good things. It's phenomenal."

Yarros has shared some thoughts on casting

Speaking at an event in London on August 30, 2024, Yarros said casting will ultimately fall on the show's staff, not her. She also said she intentionally hasn't shared any specific actors she hopes will be cast in the series.

"I will never say who my perfect fan cast is because the cast is so diverse, and I want to open that up to more diversity," she said. "And I feel like the second I say who I think this character is, that's who everyone will accept. That's only who they will accept."

Rebecca Yarros holds a microphone and sits in a chair.

CJ Rivera/Invision/AP

"I kinda hope they find, like, an up-and-coming generation," she added. "But I would never put my fan cast in your heads."

Although she won't be involved in casting the series, Yarros said at the same event that she has one hard-line casting request she has communicated to Amazon MGM Studios, Outlier Society, and Walley-Beckett.

"They know how staunch I am against white-washing Xaden," she said. "I think that's the biggest thing."

Xaden Riorson, Violet's love interest in the series, is described as having "warm tawny skin" in "Fourth Wing" and "tawny-brown" skin in both "Iron Flame" and "Onyx Storm."

The best and worst WAG looks Taylor Swift wore to Chiefs games this season

  • Taylor Swift attended 10 NFL games in the 2024-2025 season, including the Super Bowl.
  • Some of her gameday outfits were better than others.
  • Her best looks balanced team spirit and fashion.

As the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs at the 2025 Super Bowl on Sunday, all eyes were on Taylor Swift, naturally.

Well, the eyes of Swifties and fashion fans were anyway, as Swift attended the game to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

The singer attended 10 games during the 2024-2025 NFL season, including the Super Bowl. Sometimes, she attended in vintage Chiefs gear, while at others, she wore stylish coordinating sets.

Take a look at the best and worst outfits Swift wore to NFL games this season.

Swift's all-denim look for her first NFL game of the 2024-2025 season was chic and sexy.

Swift arrived at the 2024-2025 NFL season opener to support the Chiefs in a denim set.

She paired the $1,325 Medusa '95 denim corset top with coordinating denim shorts from Grlfrnd, which were available on Revolve for $102. Her maroon boots from Giuseppe Zanotti, which cost $1,650, were a high-fashion way to incorporate team spirit for the Chiefs.

Her accessories, including a $3,950 Louis Vuitton Side Trunk bag and over $60,000 worth of jewelry, made the look even more glamorous.

That same month, Swift wore a sporty shirt dress for another of her best looks of the season.

The 1995 Salem T-shirt, featuring the Chiefs logo, became a dress on Swift, as it was so long it covered her thighs.

The tee showed off her thigh-high Giuseppe Zanotti Frannie boots, which cost $1,650, and Swift carried the $4,800 Louis Vuitton Coussin bag.

High-end jewelry, like Louis Vuitton's $625 My LV Chain earrings, added to the sporty ensemble.

Swift kept up her streak of best looks with a coordinating, plaid set at an October game.

Swift turned to Vivienne Westwood for an October game. She paired the brand's $1,875 Sunday corset with the matching $1,010 Meghan kilt, both of which featured plaid fabric with pops of maroon in honor of the Chiefs.

Vivienne Westwood also designed her $1,270 boots and $590 Belle heart-frame Jacquard bag. She added over $46,000 worth of jewelry and glitter faux freckles from Fazit.

The freckles gave the high-fashion look a whimsical twist that was perfect for the game.

Although she wore a cool jacket, Swift's shorts and simple top were a bit lackluster at a November game.

Swift made her vintage Chiefs jacket the star of her outfit for this game, wearing the red, yellow, and black piece with a black top and black shorts from Agolde, which she cinched with a $630 belt from The Row.

Swift's other accessories were also black, like her $2,195 Louboutin boots and $3,900 Dior saddle bag. Gold jewelry, including a $4,475 Chanel necklace, a $4,150 ring from Retrouvai, $595 earrings, and a $3,150 ring from Louis Vuitton, elevated the look.

The outfit was cute, but it was underwhelming compared to Swift's other looks for the 2024-2025 season.

The checked, red set she wore in November didn't strike the right tone for a football game.

Swift's $3,350 red-and-black checked blazer and $1,695 skirt from Versace were the stars of her outfit. She paired the professional pieces with a $34.99 Victoria's Secret corset and Versace's $1,650 Medusa 95 leather knee-high boots.

Swift carried the $2,190 Medusa 95 small tote bag from Versace. She also wore several pieces of high-end jewelry, including the $54,000 gold Tambour Watch from Louis Vuitton and a $32,970 ring from Retrouvai.

The outfit was stylish, but it made Swift look more like a team owner than a WAG. She also wore a better check-patterned look later in the season.

Swift's skinny jeans and chunky boots created an outdated look.

She attended a November game wearing a red Louis Vuitton quarter zip that looked cozy and festive for the occasion. Swift paired the top with $249 pants from Paige, which she tucked into her $1,650 Maison Alaïa boots.

The combination called back to popular fashion of the early 2010s, though it didn't translate as well in 2025. A simpler pair of shoes or wide-legged pants could have improved the outfit.

The singer made her most fashionable gameday appearance to date in December.

She strutted into Arrowhead Stadium that day wearing a statement coat from Charlotte Simone. The piece was crafted with faux fur in a vibrant shade of red and had extra fuzzy pieces lining its sleeves, hem, and neckline.

Swift also accessorized to perfection, adding a vintage Chanel bucket hair, sheer black tights, $1,695 Manolo Blahnik boots, and a Tod's messenger bag.

Swift perfectly blended old-money fashion and gameday comfort with a Chanel ensemble in January.

The designer look included a $4,650 wool jumpsuit beneath a $9,600 tweed coat. Swift also added a monogrammed belt with oversize pearls, sheer black tights, Canada Goose gloves, earrings, a purse, and Chanel boots.

She wore the all-black outfit in the middle of January. It was chic and sophisticated but also loose and comfortable enough to sit through a football game.

Her AFC Championship look was divisive, and for good reason.

Swift made a bold move when she attempted to bring back the logomania trend with a $5,000 monogrammed zip-up jacket from Louis Vuitton and a $550 beanie with the same logo.

However, her red tights really didn't work with the black and gold outfit, which cost over $68,000. The tights were too bold in color and too fun in style to complement the cool, streetwear-style garments that comprised the rest of her look.

Swift's outfit for the 2025 Super Bowl had some sweet hidden meanings, but overall, it was lackluster for the big game.

Rather than rocking red for the Chiefs, Swift arrived at the 2025 Super Bowl in a simple outfit worth over $60,000.

She paired the $3,253 YSL double-breasted blazer with the $1,300 sleeveless ribbed bodysuit from Alaïa, both in shades of white. Sparkly denim shorts offered a pop of color in the look, though she circled back to white with her $1,120 over-the-knee boots from the brand Paris Texas.

Swift also brought color into her look through her accessories, like her $999 Givenchy bag and ruby-encrusted jewelry.

She re-wore the "T" leg chain she debuted at the 2025 Grammys as a necklace, nodding to Kelce and her lyric, "I want to wear his initial on a chain round my neck," from her song "Call It What You Want."

Likewise, her tank top and jean shorts offered a cute reference to Swift's outfit for her first Chiefs game in September 2023.

Despite the nods to her relationship with Kelce, Swift's outfit didn't stand out compared to some of the other looks she wore throughout the 2024-2025 season, as it just looked like a white blazer and boots from a distance.

It would have been nice to see Swift have a little more fun with her outfit for such a big game.

22 of Ivanka Trump's best and worst looks since her father became president

  • Ivanka Trump has returned to the public eye since Donald Trump was reelected.
  • Ivanka's best style moments often come through her streetwear looks.
  • Her outfits for political events can be hit or miss.

Although she is now most associated with her father's administration, Ivanka Trump was previously known for her eponymous fashion brand.

Ivanka shuttered the brand in 2018 after joining her father's administration when he took office in 2017, but she has continued to play with fashion on her own — wearing everything from pantsuits to mini-dresses over the last eight years.

Take a look at some of Ivanka's best and worst looks since Trump first became president.

Ivanka's white pantsuit was a surprising choice for her father's January 2017 inauguration.

Ivanka arrived at Trump's 2017 inauguration in a white pantsuit from Oscar de la Renta. The suit consisted of slim-fitting pants and a fitted, asymmetrical jacket, which she accessorized with an American flag pin.

The look was stylish, though Ivanka's choice to wear a suit was a bit surprising.

Hilary Clinton, Trump's opponent in the 2016 presidential race, is well-known for wearing pantsuits. Clinton's suit for the inauguration was also white, making it difficult not to compare Ivanka and Clinton's looks.

Ivanka and her sister, Tiffany Trump, also had a matching moment at the 2017 inauguration.

She changed into a sparkly dress for the inaugural balls later that night.

Ivanka changed into a ball gown by Carolina Herrera for the 2017 inaugural balls.

The champagne-toned gown featured a v-neckline, and the bodice, top of the skirt, and semi-sheer sleeves were all covered in sparkly embellishments.

Celebratory and elegant, the dress was a good fit for the occasion.

Ivanka attended the joint session of Congress in a form-fitting berry pink Roland Mouret dress. The dress hit her at the knee and featured a diagonal peplum across the waist.

The dress also had an asymmetrical neckline with a black spaghetti strap on one shoulder. The strap looked more like a bra peeking out from the garment than a part of the dress, making the whole look feel too casual for the event.

Ivanka's close-toed heels also looked clunky with the slim-fitted dress.

The sleeves on Ivanka's dress for the July 2017 G20 Summit were distracting.

Ivanka's pink dress for the 2017 G20 summit cinched at her waist, and the skirt flared to her knees.

The long sleeves were form-fitting until they hit her elbow, where they flared out. A bow also sat on each sleeve.

The combination of the flared fabric and bows made the sleeves look too heavy, detracting from the chic aspects of the rest of the dress.

The look would have been stronger with more streamlined sleeves.

The stripes on Ivanka's dress for the 2018 Winter Olympics were overwhelming to the eye.

Ivanka attended the 2018 Curling Men's Gold Medal Game in South Korea in a red and navy Aquazzura dress.

The sweater dress had long sleeves and a high neckline, and the stripes appeared to wrap around her figure diagonally. She paired the dress with knee-high, laced boots.

Although the dress was on theme for the event, the stripes were a bit overwhelming to the eye. The look would have been stronger if the stripes didn't crisscross.

She wore a more casual look to watch a bobsleigh competition.

When she watched the bobsleigh competition, Ivanka fit right in with Team USA. She paired red pants with a white, red, and blue sweater and accessorized the look with a coordinating coat and a Team USA hat.

Ivanka wore a flared jumpsuit to the Generation Next Summit in March 2018.

It had a v-neckline and belted at the waist, creating a summery look. However, Ivanka wore a black turtleneck under it, which had a different tone and looked out of place with the jumpsuit.

She could have paired the jumpsuit with a blazer or cropped jacket instead.

An asymmetrical neckline on a dark blue dress Ivanka wore in April 2018 elevated the look.

Ivanka wore an elegant Oscar de la Renta dress to the White House in April 2018 to welcome French Prime Minister Emmanuel Macron.

The midi-length dress had quarter-length sleeves and hugged Ivanka's figure. Its asymmetrical neckline was adorned with white fabric that formed a knot on one side.

The dress was simple and chic.

Ruffles and lace were an intense combination on a black-and-white dress Ivanka wore to the Team USA Awards in April 2018.

Alexis Nalani designed the midi-length dress, which was white and covered in a layer of black lace.

The bodice had a high neckline, and the sleeves and skirt were made of tiers of ruffles. The lace and ruffles were too much together, and Ivanka's embellished shoes didn't help tone the look down.

The silhouette and fabric could have been pretty on different dresses, but together, they were distracting.

Walking across the White House lawn, Ivanka wore a red, fitted blazer with coordinating, cropped pants. She wore red pumps with the bright look.

Bold and well-tailored, the suit was a win for Ivanka.

Ivanka wore a white top and matching skirt made of textured fabric for a White House briefing in October 2018. The top featured a subtle peplum and coordinating flared sleeves.

Ivanka added a wide, taupe belt to her waist, which matched her pointed-toe shoes.

The belt was a misstep for the look, as it looked outdated with the more traditional silhouette. She could have skipped the belt or opted for a thinner version.

Visiting Google's offices in October 2019, Ivanka wore ankle-length green trousers with a coordinating blazer.

She wore a black top underneath the jacket, which matched her pointed-toe black shoes. The look was stylish and professional.

Joining her father for the January 2020 "White House Summit on Human Trafficking," Ivanka wore a white wrap dress made of a thick fabric.

The bottom of her sleeves flared, as did the skirt, and the dress cinched at the waist with a thick bow. The choice of fabric and wrap style made the dress look more like a bathrobe than a dress.

A sleeker silhouette or fabric would have made the dress more stylish.

When her father was on the campaign trail, Lela Rose designed the sundress Ivanka wore in North Carolina in August 2020.

The midi dress had a high neckline and a form-fitting bodice covered in blue floral embroidery that spilled onto the flared skirt.

She accessorized the look with white open-toed heels and an off-white purse, completing the summery and feminine ensemble.

After laying low since her father left office in 2021, Ivanka appeared in an off-white, sparkly set from Lapointe at Kim Kardashian's birthday party in October 2023.

The long-sleeve, cropped top was slightly loose, while the high-waisted skirt was form-fitting until a thigh-high slit cup up her leg.

Nude open-toed Christian Louboutin heels with curved detailing completed the festive look.

Ivanka attended the grand opening of Fontainebleau Las Vegas in a Monique Lhuillier gown.

The strapless dress's bodice was black, while the form-fitting skirt was covered in reflective silver fabric.

It was pretty, but the dress would have been stronger if it was completely sparkly, especially for an event in Las Vegas.

Pockets were a distraction on her dress for the March 2024 Miami Open.

Self-Portrait designed the tennis-inspired yellow dress Ivanka wore to the Miami Open in March 2024.

The dress featured ribbed fabric, ruffled long sleeves, a flared collar, and buttons down the front. If that wasn't enough, the two sets of pockets on her waist and chest were distracting from the figure-hugging silhouette, particularly when combined with everything else the dress had going on.

Without the pockets, the dress would have been a great choice for the event.

The garment's square neckline gave way to an exposed corset adorned with subtle, sparkly embroidery.

A swath of fabric cut across the short skirt, adding dimension to the look. She paired the dress with open-toed heels and a clutch, completing the sexy look.

Ivanka stepped away from her more daring looks when it came time for her father to return to the White House.

Ahead of the 2025 inauguration, Ivanka wore an Oscar de la Renta coat with a matching dress. The bottom half of the camel-colored coat was embellished with three-dimensional floral appliques, which added a stylish touch to the monochromatic look.

Ivanka arrived at the 2025 inauguration in a complete hunter-green outfit, a refreshing color for the ceremony that usually sees people wearing shades of red, white, or blue.

Dior designed her asymmetrical blazer, pencil skirt, and coordinating beret. She wore a thin belt around her waist, which matched her black tights and pointed-toe heels.

The ensemble put a high-fashion twist on familiar skirt sets that are common for the DC set.

Her dress for the 2025 inaugural balls was an odd style choice.

Ivanka attended the 2025 inaugural balls in a custom Givenchy gown, a recreation of the dress Hubert de Givenchy designed for Audrey Hepburn to wear in "Sabrina," a rom-com released in 1954.

The strapless dress, cinched at the waist, had a slim-fitted skirt that hit Ivanka above her ankles. A detached train flowed out behind her, forming a train. Black floral embellishments sat on the bodice, skirt, and train, and Ivanka nodded to them with matching black gloves and shoes.

She also wore over $1.1 million in diamond jewelry throughout the inauguration.

Nodding to a Hollywood icon at the inaugural balls didn't make sense from a historical fashion perspective. Plus, Ivanka's choice to wear black gloves instead of white, as Hepburn did, lessened the effect of the recreation as well. She should have saved the look for another occasion.

  • On Wednesday, Christina Haack posted an Instagram photo with her new boyfriend.
  • She was first reported to be dating Christopher Larocca in January.
  • Haack is divorcing Josh Hall and was previously married to Tarek El Moussa and Ant Anstead.

Seven months after her split from Josh Hall, Christina Haack went Instagram official with her new love interest.

In July 2024, Haack and Hall filed for divorce in Orange County, citing irreconcilable differences. They had been married for less than three years when they split.

Hall was Haack's third husband. She was previously married to Tarek El Moussa, her longtime "Flip or Flop" costar, and Ant Anstead, another HGTV personality. And on Wednesday, Haack posted a photo with her new boyfriend, Christopher Larocca.

Business Insider broke down Haack's romantic history, from marrying El Moussa pre-fame to her split with Hall.

In May 2016, police went to the couple's home because of "a call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun," TMZ reported at the time. El Moussa was seen running from his home with a firearm, which he dropped after police told him from a helicopter to release it, the outlet reported.

Seven months later, El Moussa and Haack announced their separation, acknowledging the incident in a statement to Us Weekly.

"Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage," the statement said. "We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago, and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution."

"There was no violence, and no charges were filed. We chose to get counseling to sort out our relationship. Together, we have decided to separate while we reevaluate the future of our marriage," the statement went on to say.

El Moussa reflected on the incident in his 2024 book, "Flip Your Life," writing that he took his gun with him on a hike because of wildlife in the area after an argument with Haack, though that was not clear to Haack when she saw him hop their fence with the weapon in tow.

"That was the very last time we were together as a family: with Christina walking down the driveway, crying, and me sitting there in handcuffs, asking myself, 'What in the world is going on?'" he wrote of the incident, adding that he was taking testosterone at the time. He quit the next day and ended up living in a halfway house shortly after.

Speaking to BI about his life in January 2024, El Moussa said that hitting rock bottom helped him see his true priorities.

"I didn't even realize how obsessed I was with my kids until I hit rock bottom, until I was on my own, until I started rebuilding my life," he told BI.

"I wasn't present. I wasn't putting in the work," he added. "I wasn't putting in the time that I put into flipping houses. I needed to put that time into being a dad."

Anstead also posted about the separation on his Instagram, seeming to indicate that Haack decided to end the marriage.

"Anyone who really knows me knows that I don't like to share private matters publicly. I have remained silent while holding on to hope," he captioned a selfie of the pair. "I never gave up on us. I pray Christina's decision brings her happiness."

Haack posted a now-deleted photo of herself and Hall on Instagram later that day, confirming the relationship and critiquing the media's focus on her love life.

"I met Josh when I wasn't in a state of fear or fight-or-flight," she wrote. "When we met this past spring, the synchronicities hit us so hard and fast they were impossible to ignore. I felt immediately crazy protective over him and wanted to keep him for myself and get to know each other before the tornado (media attention) hit."

"We decided whats in the past, is in the past. We aren't looking at all the nonsense online," she added. "So yes 'another relationship' and guess what. I'm 38 – I'll do what I want."

On April 28, 2022, Anstead filed an emergency request for full custody of Hudson

In his court filing, which BI reviewed, Anstead said he was Hudson's "primary parent" and that Haack only spent an average of "9 full days each month" with their son.

He also said that Haack had put Hudson in "dangerous" situations, including a sunburn so severe it made him cry.

On another occasion, Anstead said Haack returned Hudson to him without telling him her family had COVID.

"At the time, my partner was filming her new project and her covid diagnosis placed the whole production on pause," he said in the filing, referring to his current girlfriend, Renée Zellweger.

Anstead also said in the filing that Haack used her time with Hudson to post him on social media, sometimes for sponsored content.

"I have had my share of ups and downs, but I am a good mom and I love my children with all my heart and I will always protect them," she added.

A judge denied Anstead's ex parte custody application on April 28, both because he did not give Haack enough notice and he did not provide sufficient evidence that Hudson was in danger, according to People.

Haack also filed a response to Anstead's motion on April 29, which BI reviewed. She said she was "shocked" by the filing and that Anstead was "misleading" the court regarding their custody arrangement.

"Mr. Anstead has now taken the position that he is the defacto primary parent of our son, which is not accurate," she said in the filing. "Anstead does not count any day wherein we exchange our son as a custodial day for me. He also counts days where I made an accommodation or gave a right of first refusal to him as his day."

"That is why there is a huge discrepancy in his mind from our accurate schedule. His attempt to mislead the court is transparent when presented with the true facts," Haack also said. "I do not count my accommodations as decreasing my custodial time, but as me being a supportive coparent."

Representatives for Haack and Anstead did not respond to a request for comment from BI on the filing.

Tarek El Moussa married Heather Rae El Moussa in October 2021, and she quickly became a huge part of his life and his children's lives.

But she did not seem to immediately get along with Haack. The Daily Mail published photos of Tarek El Moussa appearing to pull the former "Selling Sunset" star away from Haack during an argument at Brayden's soccer game on May 9, 2022. The same article also featured photos of Hall and Tarek El Moussa arguing and being separated by a coach.

The two women shared a joint statement with BI at the time.

"A personal matter was discussed and has since been resolved," the statement said. "We are focused on co-parenting as a team moving forward."

The altercation took place after Heather Rae El Moussa appeared to confirm that her husband had called her a "hotter, richer version" of Haack during a fight, in addition to calling his ex a "washed-up loser," as People reported in July 2021.

Shortly after the Daily Mail published the argument photos, Brayden underwent an emergency appendectomy

Haack shared on her Instagram story that Brayden's surgery went well, adding that the experience was a "wake-up call" for her. She tagged Hall and the El Moussas in the post.

"Stressful 24 hours but a good reminder how important team work / co-parenting is," she wrote on her story. "We are all under pressure but when it really matters we were all there for Brayden doing our part."

"Sometimes a scary situation can be a good wake up call," she said. "In the end all the other stuff is just 'noise,' what matters is the kids."

Heather Rae El Moussa echoed the sentiment in a selfie with Brayden and her husband that she shared on Instagram, in which she tagged Hall and Haack.

"We all pulled together as a family during this stressful time," she wrote. "The kids will always be the main priority to all of us."

In an Instagram post that has since been deleted, Haack revealed she and Hall got married in September 2022 in front of their loved ones, including her children.

"Shared vows in front of family and our close friends," she captioned the post. "Everything in life has led me to where I am right now, which is exactly where I want to be."

"My dream man on the dreamiest island," she added. "Maui holds a special place in my heart. What an amazing night filled with love."

After a monthslong custody battle, during which both accused the other of "exploiting" Hudson throughout their legal fight, Haack and Anstead were finally able to resolve their issues and retain joint custody in November 2022.

Representatives for Haack and Anstead declined to comment on the matter when contacted by BI.

May 15, 2024: HGTV announced that the El Moussas, Haack, and Hall would star in a new show together.

On May 15, 2024, HGTV shared a promo video for a new show called "The Flip Off," starring the El Moussas, Haack, and Hall.

The caption said the show would pit the two couples against each other in "a battle to see who can find, buy, renovate, and flip a house for the biggest financial gain."

"Be on the lookout for the spicy new series that'll have you saying, 'What the flip?!'" the caption said.

According to paperwork reviewed by BI, Hall filed for divorce in Orange County, California, on July 12, 2024. He listed his date of separation from Haack as July 8. The documents said that he was seeking spousal support from Haack.

Hall's filing also listed the date of their marriage as October 6, 2021, five months earlier than the April 5, 2022, date originally believed to be the day they got married.

Haack submitted her own request to dissolve their marriage on July 23, 2024, and her request listed their separation date as July 7, one day earlier than Hall's paperwork.

Hall and Haack's divorce proceedings are ongoing. The exes have disagreed about ownership of properties in Tennessee and spousal support. You can read more about Haack and Hall's divorce here.

HGTV

In a press release shared with BI, HGTV shared that Haack started the competition for "The Flip Off" with Hall but ultimately competed against the El Moussas solo after their split.

Speaking to BI in January 2025, Haack said she thinks it was a "major advantage" that she didn't have to collaborate with Hall on the show because he was inexperienced with house flipping and real estate compared to her.

"I think that without him, it's just easier," she said.

On her Instagram, Gabrys says she is a model who lives in Florida, Chicago, and Nashville.

She has not posted a photo of Hall on her Instagram grid, but Gabrys commented on a post Hall made on January 1, writing, "Proud of you and the strong, patient, hard working, generous, and kind hearted man you are! 2025 is going to be the best year yet!"

January 21, 2025: "The Flip Off" premiered, spotlighting tension between Haack and Hall.

Hall appeared in the premiere of "The Flip Off," finding a house to flip with Haack for the competition.

The episode also included a tense conversation between the then-couple in a car, during which Hall called Haack "rude" after she didn't understand a reference he made to a billboard, adding that he wished she would "shut up" and that she was "pissing" him off.

Haack told producers Hall had been "a bit moody lately" when speaking of the conversation.

"Josh knows that Tarek and I have a history," she said. "I'm sure some of it is the stress of the competition."

Hall abruptly stopped appearing in the episode after their split happened off-screen.

Hall shared a sneak peek clip of the interaction to his Instagram story ahead of the premiere, writing that it was "manufactured drama." In response, Haack shared a photo of herself crying after a day of filming with Hall.

The first episode of "The Flip Off" also included an emotional conversation between Haack and El Moussa. She shared with him that she and Hall had split after a "blowup over nothing."

"Things with Josh have been bad for a long time. Not just kinda bad, like bad," Haack said on the show. "The kids literally asked me to leave. They told me he's not nice to me."

"You make him very insecure," she said to her ex. "Every time we would barely joke at soccer or if I laughed at you, he, like, would not speak to me for two to three days. I would get the silent treatment."

"He doesn't like me," Haack said of Hall. "He calls me cocky. He thinks I'm arrogant when we both know I'm not cocky or arrogant. I just do work."

Haack and El Moussa also reflected on their own relationship in the conversation, and Haack told BI she still gets emotional thinking about their talk.

  • Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack's son Brayden is interested in real estate.
  • They told Business Insider he likes to look at real-estate listings instead of reading before bed.
  • Their daughter Taylor has an eye for design as well.

Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa are again proving to be ratings gold for HGTV.

The former couple reunited on "The Flip Off," which premiered on January 29. On the show, Tarek El Moussa and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, compete against Haack to see who can profit most from a home flip. It became HGTV's highest-rated freshman series since 2022, attracting 4 million viewers during its first episode.

The premiere included plenty of home-renovation scenes, but it also featured details on Haack's split from her ex, Josh Hall, and an emotional conversation between Haack and her first ex-husband.

Haack and El Moussa's two children, Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9, also appeared in the first episode of "The Flip Off" and offered opinions on their parents' flipping skills.

Speaking to Business Insider ahead of the premiere, Haack and El Moussa said Brayden, in particular, has a passion for real estate.

Brayden El Moussa loves real estate

Discussing their children's appearance on "The Flip Off," both Haack and El Moussa said their kids love real estate.

"They've been with us working and filming and flipping houses since they were born, so they don't know any different, and they love real estate," El Moussa, who also shares a 2-year-old son, Tristan, with Heather Rae El Moussa, said.

Both Taylor and Brayden appeared on HGTV's "Flip or Flop" when they were babies, growing up on camera as their parents' fame grew. They have also appeared in the former couple's separate series, like "The Flipping El Moussas" and "Christina on the Coast."

El Moussa told BI that Brayden is developing his own interest in real estate.

"Our son Brayden, he's at our house looking at houses online all the time," he said. "He's with Christina looking at houses all the time."

"He likes to do it before bed," Haack said, adding that Brayden asks to log into the multiple-listing service with her. "Like, some kids like bedtime stories. He's like, 'I want to go and search the MLS and see what's for sale in the neighborhood.' Truly, he loves it."

Brayden also recently appeared on "The Flipping El Moussas," investing his own money in a flip they were working on. Brayden contributed $25 to the flip, doubling his money when the house sold.

Haack said the episode was "so cute."

"He has really cute ideas, and he's really smart," Heather Rae El Moussa agreed. "So is Taylor. Her design eye is so amazing."

"She has an amazing eye," Haack said. "She always decorates her own room. She loves to help just designing houses, so I feel like it's definitely in both of their futures."

Episode two of "The Flip Off" airs on HGTV at 8 p.m. ET.

Details you might've missed while reading 'Onyx Storm' by Rebecca Yarros

"Onyx Storm" was released in January 2025.

Red Tower Books/CJ Rivera/Invision/AP

  • "Onyx Storm" by Rebecca Yarros is an instant New York Times bestseller.
  • Yarros peppered the story with details that could have major ramifications for the plot.
  • This story contains spoilers for the "Empyrean" series.

It's no surprise Rebecca Yarros' "Onyx Storm" was a massive hit.

Yarros built a huge following for her "Empyrean" series — which follows dragon rider Violet Sorrengail as she trains at Basgiath War College — with "Fourth Wing" and "Iron Flame." Both were instant New York Times bestsellers when they were released in 2023.

"Onyx Storm" blew their success out of the water when it hit bookshelves on January 21; The New York Times reported that it was the fastest-selling adult novel in 20 years.

There will be two more books in the "Empyrean" series, and Yarros filled the third with small moments that could have huge implications for the rest of Violet's story. Read on to check out the details you may have missed from "Onyx Storm."

There are major spoilers for the "Empyrean" series ahead.

Secret signets were all over the book

Yarros introduced the idea of second signets in "Iron Flame," when Xaden confessed to Violet that he is a form of an inntinnsic, or mind reader, who can read people's intentions. He doesn't tell anyone because inntinnsics are typically killed for the danger they pose to other riders.

In "Onyx Storm," Violet discovers that it's much more common for people to have additional signet powers than she thought, particularly among the children of the rebels.

For instance, Garrick Tavis' publicly known signet is wind-wielding, but he hides his ability to distance-walk from most of the public to give him an advantage. Likewise, Imogen Cardulo can erase people's recent memories, but in the final battle of "Onyx Storm," she reveals she is also some sort of earth or rock wielder.

Red Tower

When Violet realizes she is a dream-walker, another form of an inntinnsic, Xaden immediately tells her she should keep her second signet secret because others will think she is dangerous. Violet barely had time to explore her signet in "Onyx Storm," so how much she can do with it is unclear.

Violet also realizes that Aaric, who is second in line to the Navarre throne, has the power of precognition, which he intentionally kept to himself because of how powerful a signet it is.

By including a plethora of hidden and second signets in "Onyx Storm," Yarros told readers not to trust riders' powers at face value for the rest of the series.

Research from Violet's dad provides clues as to when he visited the isles

Readers learn more about Violet's father, Asher, throughout "Onyx Storm."

Before he died, he left research for Violet about the isles surrounding the continent that could offer clues about irid dragons and venin, leading her to visit the isles in the book.

Violet's father is mostly referred to by his married name, Asher Sorrengail, but on a few occasions, he is called Asher Daxton, his original surname. For instance, "Onyx Storm" features excerpts from "Unnbriel: Isle of Dunne" by Second Lieutenant Asher Daxton, indicating he visited Unnbriel before adopting Sorrengail.

Yarros also includes excerpts of his studies that refer to Asher by the higher ranks of Captain, Major, and Lieutenant Colonel Sorrengail. Based on the name change and his higher rank, some of Asher's studies of the isles took place after he was married.

Violet wonders how her father had time to visit all the isles; his changing name at least provides some idea of the chronological timeline.

However, Yarros doesn't make the timeline completely clear. Although Asher wrote his research about Unnbriel when he was still a Daxton, a character named Narelle from Unnbriel knows him as Asher Sorrengail and has books he left for Violet — who was born after he became a Sorrengail — before his death on the isle.

Likewise, he published "Hedotis: Isle of Hedeon" as Captain Asher Sorrengail, but Faris, a member of the triumvirate on Hedotis, calls Violet "Asher Daxton's girl" when she visits the isle. Maybe he published research he conducted before he was married after tying the knot, or perhaps Asher visited Hedotis multiple times.

Yarros also said at a speaking engagement on January 31 that her publishing team intentionally didn't include maps of the isles in "Onyx Storm" because "it was deemed to be too spoilery," indicating that more surprises about them will come in the next installments of the "Empyrean" series. Clarity on when Asher visited the isles could be part of the revelations.

There is also an excerpt of "Colonel Daxton's Guide to Excelling in the Scribes Quadrant" in "Onyx Storm," but based on his recovered correspondence with Violet, Asher died with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Another Daxton relative likely wrote the guide, though Yarros has yet to reveal who that is.

Violet has been dream-walking since 'Iron Flame'

Violet and Xaden finally figure out she is a dream-walker in "Onyx Storm" after they realize her recurring nightmare of facing down a venin Sage is actually Xaden's dream.

Violet has the dream several times in "Onyx Storm," but it first appears in "Iron Flame."

Yarros previously said Violet's signet had manifested in "Iron Flame." If you look back at the text, Violet describes a nightmare that features the Sage before she leaves Basgiath to fight for the revolution. Based on when she had that dream, Violet was dream-walking for months before she — or the readers — knew it was her second signet.

Violet barely explored her additional power in "Onyx Storm," so hopefully, she will discover what she may be capable of as a dream-walker in the fourth Empyrean book.

Xaden may be able to fully read Violet's mind

In "Iron Flame," Xaden says he can only read people's intentions, not their thoughts.

However, in chapter 28 of "Onyx Storm," Violet and Xaden are having a mental conversation about their bond, and Violet thinks to herself that speaking mind to mind is more intimate than sex.

Before she can tell Xaden her thoughts, he finishes her sentence, even though she hasn't spoken to him aloud or through their bond. Violet then seems to realize that Xaden read her mind.

"I find myself nodding instead of lecturing him for reading my intentions, but that wasn't…My eyes widen," Yarros wrote.

Violet then wondered if Xaden had intentionally honed his signet, strengthening it so he could read minds completely. It's also possible that turning venin increased his power, or the shared thought could have something to do with Violet's inntinnsic powers.

Irid dragons can make and shape bonds

When the dragon Leothan asks Andrana to come with him to learn the ways of the irids, he tells her she can break her bond with Violet.

"Bonds are merely magical ties," he said. "You are irid. You are magic. Bend it, shape it, break it as you see fit."

Andarna resists the idea that she could create or break a bond out of thin air, but Leothan tells her she already did by bonding with Violet after she had already bonded with Tairn.

"Humans should only be capable of bonding a single dragon, and yet you forged a second connection where there shouldn't be one," Leothan said. "Only an irid can do that."

Her connection to Violet then breaks, though it's unclear if Andarna or Leothan broke it. Andarna eventually returns to Violet, appearing to have reforged their bond because she speaks to Violet at the end of the book.

Leothan's revelation indicates that Andarna could make or break all kinds of magical bonds, not just her own to Violet. Some readers suspect Andarna may have broken Tairn and Sgaeyl's bond after Xaden gave into his venin instincts, which is why Tairn was resting when Violet awoke in the book's final scene.

Yarros included a nod to a common reader complaint about 'Iron Flame'

Although "Iron Flame" was a bestseller, some fans complained online that Violet and Xaden had repetitive fights throughout the book.

Yarros appeared to acknowledge the complaint through a discussion of Violet and Xaden's relationship with her squad members.

First, her friend Sawyer says she and Xaden "bicker like you've been married fifty years." Her other friend Ridoc agrees, saying, "It's always the same fight," before mimicking Violet and Xaden.

"He lifts his hand to his chest," Yarros wrote. "'I'll trust you if you stop keeping secrets!' He drops the hand and scowls. 'It's my secretive nature that attracted you, and why can't you just stay out of harm's way for five fucking minutes?'"

The humorous scene brought some levity to readers' complaints, particularly because the conflicts between Violet and Xaden weren't as repetitive in "Onyx Storm."

Xaden hinted at Violet marrying him throughout the book

In the cliffhanger ending of "Onyx Storm," Violet wakes up at Riorson House with a blessing of her marriage to Xaden from the head priestess of Dunne's temple, an emerald ring on her finger, a goodbye message from her new husband, and no memory of the last 12 hours. In the book's final lines, Violet realizes Imogen used her signet to wipe her memory.

Although it's shocking to Violet that she woke up married with no memory of actually saying vows, Xaden indicates throughout the book that he wants Violet to be his wife.

When Violet's friends compliment her after giving a rousing speech to help unite students at Basgiath, Xaden says she would make a good duchess just before he is officially named the Duke of Tyrrendor.

Later, on the island of Deverelli, Xaden announces Violet as his consort so she can join him at the palace without being questioned. Following his statement, he asks her when would be a good time to actually discuss marriage.

And when they are on the isle Hedotis, the triumvirate questions why Xaden broke his betrothal to Catriona, who is in line for the Poromish throne. The council suggests they would offer support in a war against the venin if Xaden and Cat agreed to a contract marriage and produced an heir. Xaden responds by agreeing to draw up marriage papers — for his union to Violet.

For Xaden, his marriage to Violet was a long time coming.

It also shouldn't be a surprise Violet went to Imogen for help

Imogen's revelation in the final line of "Onyx Storm" that she erased Violet's memory at her request was dramatic, but Yarros laid the groundwork for Imogen to help Violet in the earliest pages of the book.

Rebecca Yarros holds a microphone and sits in a chair.

In the prologue, Violet sees Xaden reveal to Jack Barlowe, who turned venin in "Fourth Wing," that he had also turned.

She immediately asks her dragon, Tairn, to get Imogen so she can use her signet to erase Jack's memory, as she fears Jack will reveal Xaden turned to the public. Imogen agrees to help, and the pair make a habit of visiting Jack so Violet can question him about how to cure Xaden without Jack remembering.

From the first chapter of "Onyx Storm," Yarros tells readers that Violet sees Imogen's signet as a powerful weapon, and by the end of the book, she isn't afraid to use it on herself to keep Xaden safe.

Xaden's farewell message might not refer to Tyrrendor

Xaden left Violet a goodbye message alongside the marriage certificate that reads, "Don't look for me. It's yours now."

At first glance, the "it" in the message appears to refer to Tyrrendor. Xaden is the Duke of Tyrrendor, making Violet its ruler in his absence as the duchess. However, Xaden typically refers to Tyrrendor using "she" pronouns.

For instance, he informs Prince Halden that Tyrrendor will take in refugees, saying, "Tyrrendor will open her borders." He again refers to Tyrrendor as a female entity when arguing with his cousin Bodhi: "Our family just got Tyrrendor back, and we will not lose her because of your ego."

Other characters, like Felix Gerault and General Melegren, also use feminine pronouns for Tyrrendor throughout "Onyx Storm," making it even more unlikely that Xaden would call the territory an "it" in his goodbye note.

Some readers suspect the note might refer to Xaden's soul, which he lost piece by piece after he turned venin. However, based on an interaction with his dragon, Sgaeyl, he seemed to still have some of it in the final battle.

In addition, after he became the Duke of Tyrrendor, Xaden made Violet promise to reveal he was venin if she ever saw his soul deteriorate further: "Swear you'll sound the alarm if I go too far, that you'll keep it safe, even if it's from me."

"He'll never go too far, never lose his soul, so I nod," Violet says a few lines later.

In his goodbye note, Xaden may have been referencing the promise, handing her what was left of his soul while he went to join the venin. Hopefully, the next book in the series will clue readers in.

The best and worst outfits Beyoncé has worn at the Grammy Awards

  • Beyoncé took home her first album of the year award at the 2025 Grammys.
  • She's been a staple of the event since the early 2000s and has worn numerous showstopping looks.
  • On a few occasions, however, the superstar has missed the mark with her Grammys fashion.

No one does the Grammy Awards quite like Beyoncé.

She's won the most awards in the event's history, took home her first album of the year trophy in 2025, and has made iconic fashion statements since her first appearances with Destiny's Child.

That said, the musician has also missed the mark with her Grammys fashion on a few occasions.

Here's a look at some of the best and worst looks Beyoncé has worn at the ceremony over the years.

Beyoncé nodded to her country era with a glamorous gown this year, and it worked.

She wore a custom piece from Schiaparelli that was tan, covered in sequins, and sleeveless with a scooped neckline.

It was glamorous and called back to old Hollywood with its matching gloves. Still, the outfit also honored Beyoncé and her latest body of work, "Cowboy Carter."

The dress was beaded with small white Bs and a larger paisley print, which gave the gown a subtle Western vibe.

Her attempt at a neutral-colored gown in 2010 didn't translate as well.

She walked the red carpet that year wearing a Stéphane Rolland gown crafted from a satin fabric.

The neutral-colored dress had short puffed sleeves, a plunging neckline with a zipper detail, and textured shapes from top to bottom.

The same design would have looked cool on a top or skirt individually. However, the pattern was overwhelming on a dress and too strong for such a delicate shade and fabric.

Beyoncé also wore gold hair tinsel and statement earrings that clashed with the gown's color.

The textured minidress she changed into in 2010 was one of her best looks at the Grammys.

Beyoncé changed into a metallic number from Armani Privé during the awards ceremony. The short dress had statement short sleeves, a deep-V neckline, and loose chains that intentionally hung from the garment.

The outfit was eye-catching, glamorous, and perfectly accessorized.

She wore it with gold platform sandals, statement hoop earrings, and an assortment of bracelets and rings.

One of her worst, however, came in 2007.

Giorgio Armani designed her dress, which was strapless and made from silk.

Its silver color looked stunning on Beyoncé, but the dress didn't seem to fit her right. Its neckline flap was uneven, and its wrapped skirt was just a touch too long, making it appear to have excess fabric.

The dress was also embellished with large crystal pieces at the waist and neckline, so Beyoncé didn't need the oversize jewelry to elevate the outfit.

Beyoncé wore three different outfits throughout the 2023 Grammys, and her final look — a black velvet Schiaparelli gown — was one of her best.

The strapless dress featured an angular, square-shaped neckline, hugging her figure and cinching at the waist.

She paired the dress with matching gloves for an elegant and fashionable look.

The black-and-white jumpsuit she wore in 2013 was underwhelming compared to her other Grammys looks.

Beyoncé arrived at the awards show in an Osman jumpsuit with short sleeves and a high neckline. Most of the look was black, though one sleeve and half the bodice were white.

The ensemble wasn't as exciting or high-fashion as some of her other outfits, and it appeared more professional than red-carpet ready.

At her first solo Grammy Awards in 2004, Beyoncé rocked an all-gold dress that made her stand out on the carpet.

The gown, designed by Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, hugged her figure and featured ruching on the bodice and waist, forming a pleat down the center of the skirt.

Bejeweled netting created a halter neckline, and gems ran down the center of the bodice.

Gold earrings and shoes completed the gilded look, which was perfect for an evening on which she won five Grammys.

One change could have made a huge difference to Beyoncé's 2021 outfit.

She accepted a Grammy onstage that year in a Schiaparelli minidress. The leather garment had off-the-shoulder sleeves, a V-shaped neckline, and ruched fabric that made the piece edgier.

While the sheer tights she wore pulled the look together, her black gloves did the opposite. The leather pieces with gold nails distracted from her outfit and made it look more like a costume.

By removing the gloves, fans could have appreciated her statement earrings and stunning hairstyle better.

  • Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae El Moussa tied the knot in October 2021.
  • They welcomed their first child together in January 2023.
  • The El Moussas are starring in "The Flip Off" alongside Tarek's ex, Christina Haack.

Heather Rae El Moussa and Tarek El Moussa have been inseparable since they met on a boat in July 2019.

Nearly six years later, Tarek, 43, and Heather, 37, are married, have welcomed their first child, and now star in two HGTV series together.

Here's a timeline of their relationship, from their whirlwind meeting to new real-estate projects.

Tarek El Moussa married Christina Haack in 2009. They starred in HGTV's "Flip or Flop" and have two children, Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9.

The couple separated in 2016, seven months after police were called to their house because of "a call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun," TMZ reported at the time. Tarek was seen running from his home with a firearm, which he dropped after police told him from a helicopter to release it, TMZ reported.

"Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage," Tarek and Haack said in a statement to People on the matter. "We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago, and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence, and no charges were filed."

Tarek addressed the incident in his 2024 book "Flip Your Life," saying he decided to go on a walk after a fight with Haack and was carrying the gun to protect himself from wildlife.

In a February 2024 conversation with Business Insider, he also described his divorce from Haack as "the most difficult period" of his life, particularly because of the media attention their separation received.

"I don't know what it was about me and Christina, but we got so much press for years, and it just wouldn't slow down," he said. "It wouldn't go away."

Tarek and Haack's divorce was finalized in January 2018, and he went on to star in "Flipping 101" solo. "Flip or Flop" ended in 2022.

As the couple shared on the "Not Skinny Not Fat" podcast, Tarek and Heather first connected when he slid into Heather's Instagram DMs a few months before she started filming Netflix's "Selling Sunset." He asked her out, but she said no because she had a boyfriend at the time.

On July 4, 2019, Tarek and Heather, who was then single, were cruising on separate boats off the coast of Newport Beach, California, for the holiday, according to People.

When their boats were docked near each other, Heather came onto Tarek's boat to speak to a mutual friend. Sparks flew, and Tarek asked Heather on a date again. This time, she said yes.

On the same day that they announced their relationship, Tarek and Heather did an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

In the interview, Tarek shared that he introduced Heather to his family, including his two children, the night before.

"I introduced her to my kids last night for the first time," he said in the interview. "My mom, my dad, my mom's husband, my sister. So, we're doing it! Very excited."

Tarek also said in the interview that Heather was everything he didn't know he had been missing.

"I just went through some pretty traumatic things in my life and honestly I was very happy being comfortable on my own and I didn't realize what I was missing until I found what I was missing," he told Entertainment Tonight at the time. "I was sad for a very long time; I was alone for a very long time, and I feel like she's really brought me back to life, which is very, very fun to say."

The "Flipping 101" star revealed that Heather and Haack had already met during an appearance on "GMA3."

As he told hosts Michael Strahan, Keke Palmer, and Sara Haines, Haack and Heather met when he and Heather went to pick up his kids. He only gave both women five minutes' notice that they would be meeting.

"I was like, 'Oh, I'm coming over to see the kids. By the way, my girlfriend is coming. See you in five!'" Tarek said of what he told Haack.

"I looked at Heather, and I was like, 'Are you ready?' And she was like, 'Ready for what?' I was like, 'Well, we're going to go see the kids, and my ex-wife is there,'" he said.

Tarek added that he and Haack had not formally discussed his new relationship before the two women met, but they "got along great."

"They both eat that healthy, hippie food," he joked. "They do that weird hiking stuff."

"My heart is so full of love," Heather wrote in an Instagram post about the day. "@therealtarekelmoussa and the kids have changed my life more than I can even describe. This is our first Christmas together and it's one I'll never forget."

"I just adore Tarek's family so much," she added.

We had that butterflies in your tummy, can't eat, can't stop smiling soul mate love," Heather captioned her post. "You are my very best friend in the whole world. The man I look up to, admire, adore, best daddy, best heart, kind & most important loyal and honest."

"I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you," she added.

Tarek echoed Heather's post, saying he would be "lost" without her.

"The second our eyes connected and we smiled at each other I knew my life would never be the same," he wrote. "She is incredible in every way possible and most importantly she loves and adores Tay and Bray."

"I just love you to the moon and back. You are my everything and you complete me. I'd be lost without you," Tarek said of Heather.

In March 2022, "Flip or Flop" ended amid reports that filming had become "too intimate" for Tarek and Haack to film.

Then, Heather seemed to confirm that Tarek had compared her and Haack during the "Selling Sunset" reunion, which aired on May 6, 2022.

Just three days later, the Daily Mail published photos of Heather and Haack at Brayden's soccer game, in which the pair appeared to be arguing. In separate photos, a coach seemed to be separating Tarek from Josh Hall.

Heather and Haack released a joint statement on May 11, saying they had resolved "a personal matter." On May 13, they posed for a photo together and said they were focused on co-parenting after Brayden underwent an emergency appendectomy, which Haack said was a "wake-up call."

HGTV announced the series "The Flipping El Moussas" in a press release provided to Business Insider.

The press release said the show would document Tarek and Heather combining their home flipping and renovation skills, as well as their IVF journey, a move, and a renovation.

"We are so excited to bring viewers into our world to see the ins and outs of our day-to-day lives," the El Moussas said in a statement included in the same press release.

"As busy parents and successful real estate experts, fans can watch us as we go from making breakfast for the kids in the morning, to making business deals by the afternoon," the statement said. "The cameras are capturing our journey like never before and we can't wait to share it all."

"Bringing our expertise together from each of our worlds has been so much fun," Tarek and Heather wrote in an Instagram post about the series. "We are working on all new flipping projects - from multimillion-dollar homes in Los Angeles to a tiny cabin in Big Bear, California, and everything in between that we cannot wait to share with you."

"We'll also be giving a little peek into our everyday lives with the kids, our loved ones and our journey to grow our family," the post went on to say.

The El Moussas announced on Instagram that they were expecting a baby in early 2023.

They opened up about the pregnancy to People, saying it was a "huge shock" because they were scheduling an appointment to implant an embryo via IVF when Heather found out she was pregnant naturally.

"We just weren't expecting this," Heather told People. "We had just gone through IVF. We had embryos on ice. We had a plan."

"I think when you least expect it, and there's no stress in your life, the world just brought us what was meant to be," she added. "I'm so excited that it happened like this."

Heather and Tarek announced on Instagram that their son, Tristan El Moussa, was born on January 31, 2023.

Speaking to Business Insider just over a month after Tristan's birth, Heather said her close bond with Taylor and Brayden made her want to have a child.

"They're very special kids, and I'm so in love with them, and that's what made me want to have a baby, as well as my love for Tarek," Heather said. "This is the kind of relationship you dream of and hope for. I found the love of my life, and I wanted to create a beautiful baby with him."

The series spotlighted the couple flipping homes, and it gave peeks at their home life together as well.

Ahead of the premiere, the couple told BI that working together only made them closer.

"We love being together," Heather told BI. "Tarek and I really trust each other, and we value each other and respect each other."

The show was confirmed for a second season in July 2023, and it premiered in December 2024.

HGTV announced it would reunite Haack and Tarek on-screen alongside their new spouses in a house-flipping competition series called "The Flip Off."

In the show, the El Moussas were set to compete against Haack and Hall to see who could make the most money off of a flip. However, Haack and Hall split in July 2024 after filming had begun, so Haack ended up competing in the series solo.

Tarek and Heather expressed their support for Haack amid her divorce to paparazzi on July 23, 2024, as E! News reported.

"We support her," Heather said.

"Whatever she needs, we're here to help," Tarek echoed.

The series premiere featured some dramatic moments, including an emotional conversation between Tarek and Haack about her divorce.

Although they're competing against each other on the show, Haack and the El Moussas seem to be on good terms, with Haack and Heather hugging each other on the show.

The El Moussas and Haack even told BI before the premiere that they were open to flipping a house as a team.

'Onyx Storm' left readers with lots of unanswered questions. Here's everything Rebecca Yarros has said about the 4th 'Empyrean' book so far.

A side-by-side of "Onyx Storm" and Rebecca Yarros.
Rebecca Yarros released "Onyx Storm" in January 2025.

Rebecca Yarros/Red Tower Books

  • "Onyx Storm" by Rebecca Yarros hit bookshelves on January 21.
  • Yarros plans to take a break before writing the next novel in the "Empyrean" series.
  • The book will likely address the cliffhanger ending of her latest novel. There are spoilers ahead.

Rebecca Yarros' "Onyx Storm" was released less than a month ago, but fans are already desperate for dragon rider Violet Sorrengail's story to continue.

"Onyx Storm" was the third book in Yarros' "Empyrean" series, following "Fourth Wing" and "Iron Flame." The series centers on Violet's journey to become a dragon rider and fight forces of dark magic at Basgiath War College, and it is set to have five novels published by Red Tower.

"Onyx Storm" — the fastest-selling adult novel released in 20 years, according to The New York Times — ended on a cliffhanger, so Yarros' readers are already asking when they can get their hands on the next romantasy novel in the series.

However, Yarros has already said she doesn't want to write the next "Empyrean" installment as quickly as the first three books. Here's everything we know so far.

The rest of this article has spoilers for the "Empyrean" series.

Yarros won't be working on the next 'Empyrean' novel right away

Yarros released the first three books in the "Empyrean" series in under two years. "Fourth Wing" came out in April 2023, "Iron Flame" was released in October 2023, and "Onyx Storm" hit shelves just 13 months later.

Fans shouldn't expect Yarros to write the next series installment at the same pace. Speaking at an engagement in Philadelphia on January 25, Yarros said she wouldn't commit to a release date for the fourth "Empyrean" novel.

"I'm gonna write a contemporary first," she said. "It's what I do. I go back and forth. I'm never gonna change."

Although she is best known for "Fourth Wing," most of Yarros' novels are contemporary. Netflix is adapting her book "In the Likely Event" into a film.

At the same event, Yarros said she also plans to take time off to be with her family before she writes the fourth book.

"I promised my children I would spend the summer with them," she said. "And I'll get to work when it happens, and I hope it comes out easier just because there's not the pressure of a deadline or a pressure of a release date. But it happens when it happens."

Yarros also told Elle she intends to rest before returning to writing, as the amount of work she did in recent years wasn't good for her mentally or physically, as she has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and POTS.

"I've been really clear that I'm going to rest now," she told the outlet. "I drove my body to a place that was untenable, and I knew it, and my family knew it, and my husband knew it, and it shouldn't have happened. I shouldn't have allowed it to happen."

The fourth book will hopefully address unanswered questions from 'Onyx Storm'

It might be particularly difficult for fans to wait for the next "Empyrean" novel because of the ending of "Onyx Storm."

After a dramatic battle, Violet wakes up with her dragon, Andarna, watching over her. Andarana came back to her after learning about her dragon breed, irids. She informs Violet that her other dragon, Tairn, is resting, but she doesn't explain to Violet why he needs the rest.

Violet is also wearing a wedding ring and carrying the blessing of her marriage to Xaden Riorson from the goddess Dunne, but she has no memory of marrying him or of the last 12 hours of her life. In the book's final line, her friend Imogen reveals she used her signet power to wipe Violet's memory of the night — at her request.

The final scene occurs after Xaden succumbs to his venin instincts in the novel's last battle, taking more illicit power from the earth. He also makes a cryptic deal with his dragon, Sgaeyl, and discovers one of his fellow riders has turned venin, though he doesn't specify who.

Violet's brother, Brennan, also reveals to her in the novel's final scene that six dragon eggs and four riders are missing, including Xaden and his best friend, Garrick Tavis.

Hopefully, the fourth book in the "Empyrean" series will reveal what happened between Violet and Xaden, where Xaden and the other missing riders are, the location of the missing eggs, what Andarna learned from her time with the irids, and how Xaden's additional use of his venin powers harmed his soul.

Likewise, Violet will likely still be searching for a cure to turning venin to bring Xaden back, but as his wife, she also becomes the Duchess of Tyrrendor. She will have new power and responsibility in his absence, and readers will have to wait to see how she balances her new role while developing her signets.

Yarros shared some clues for book four while promoting 'Onyx Storm'

Yarros has been on an "Onyx Storm" book tour in recent weeks, offering some insight into the future of the series as she's connected to fans.

For instance, at an event in Los Angeles on January 21, Yarros said, "Someone you love won't make it in book four." That comment isn't that surprising, as beloved characters have died in each installment of the series. However, Yarros got more specific with her hints as her book tour continued.

At an event in St. Louis on January 31, Yarros shared that readers have more to discover about the isles Violet explores in "Onyx Storm." When host Lexi Ryan asked her why there was no map of the isles included in "Onyx Storm," Yarros said it "was deemed to be too spoilery" by her editorial team, suggesting Violet doesn't know all she will about the isles by the end of book three.

In addition, Yarros creates playlists that reflect the story of each "Empyrean" book to listen to while she writes.

Speaking at an event in Denver on February 2, she revealed the first three songs from her playlist for book four, which were all Taylor Swift songs from her album "The Tortured Poets Department," including "Down Bad," "But Daddy, I Love Him," and "I Can Fix Him (No, Really, I Can)." The songs all have themes of loving someone people believe to be wrong for you, which could fit Violet's love story with Xaden.

At the same Denver event, Yarros also shared clues about who Xaden's new venin brother could be.

"I would pay attention to who's missing at the end," she said. "I would pay attention to someone who feels like whatever they have given is not enough, which is always the case when you turn venin."

Fans think Bodhi, Garrick, or even Violet's brother Brennan could fit that description at the end of "Onyx Storm."

Yarros also discussed a plot device she uses that may have consequences for the series. After riders bond a dragon at threshing at Basgiath, the rider announces the dragon's name to the Scribes so it can be recorded. However, Yarros pointed out to fans that the dragons never speak their name to the Scribes directly, so it's possible some riders don't share their real names or that dragons lie to their riders.

Dragons using false names may have helped the children of rebels bond dragons their relatives previously bonded, giving them second signet powers. The potential for faux dragon identities could also have other ramifications for the series.

Speaking more on signet powers in Denver, Yarros also said readers had only seen "like 10%" of Violet's dream-walking abilities, in part because others who developed the power would have been killed, making it difficult for Violet to learn how to use the signet.

"There's probably one person alive that can train her," Yarros said, though she gave no information about who that person is.

She also said Xaden's inntinnsic signet has only reached "like 50%" of its potential, so his abilities will likely grow in book four.

Overall, Yarros remains tight-lipped about book four in the "Empyrean" series. Luckily, fans can read other romantasy novels to make the wait a bit more bearable.

Christina Haack says she still gets emotional watching her conversation with Tarek El Moussa about her divorce on 'The Flip Off'

  • Christina Haack told Tarek El Moussa about her split from Josh Hall in the premiere of "The Flip Off."
  • In an interview with BI, Haack said watching the conversation back still makes her emotional.
  • She also said she didn't expect to talk to El Moussa about their past.

HGTV's "The Flip Off" premiered on Wednesday, bringing Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa back together on screen.

Tarek El Moussa and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, were supposed to compete against Haack and her husband, Josh Hall, in a house-flipping competition on the series. However, in July 2024, Haack and Hall abruptly split after filming had already begun.

Hall appeared in the first half of the premiere but vanished after they separated off-screen. Haack shared the news of their breakup with her first ex-husband in a tearful conversation documented on "The Flip Off," during which she decided to finish the competition alone.

Six months later, Haack told Business Insider she still gets emotional watching the conversation back.

Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack had an emotional conversation on 'The Flip Off'

In the first episode, El Moussa met Haack at her home, where she told him that her relationship with Hall ended after a "blowup fight over nothing."

"Things with Josh have been bad for a long time. Not just kinda bad, like bad," she told El Moussa. "The kids literally asked me to leave. They told me he's not nice to me."

Haack went on to say that El Moussa made Hall "very insecure" and that Hall called her cocky. She also teared up as she told El Moussa that she feels like she's in "a tornado all the time" and doesn't know how to escape it.

"Everything since, like, 2016 has been so hard and so horrible," she said through tears, referring to the year she and El Moussa separated.

Haack also said in an interview with producers that she was the first person in her family to get divorced and thought it was "safer to be back in a relationship."

"But, ultimately, that was not safe either," she said.

Haack also told El Moussa how much it "really, really, really hurt" her not to get to be "a full-time mom" because of their divorce. The exes share Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9, and Haack has a 5-year-old son, Hudson, from her marriage to Ant Anstead.

El Moussa told producers he knows he wasn't the best husband or father during his marriage to Haack after facing health struggles and addiction.

"It was the day that I met Heather that really got me back on track," he said. They got married in 2021 and share a son, Tristan, who turns 2 on Friday.

Watching the conversation back still makes Haack emotional

When she spoke to BI before the premiere of "The Flip Off," Haack said rewatching her conversation with El Moussa still made her "emotional."

"I'm not a crier by any means, but it still makes me emotional," Haack said. "I just look back to that time and that feels like so long ago, but I was just very stressed, very overwhelmed. And when I watch it, I just honestly feel for me in that situation."

"It still makes me emotional, and I feel so much better now," she added. "I'm in such a better spot. I've learned so many lessons."

Heather Rae El Moussa chimed in to say the conversation was also healing for the Haack and El Moussa's relationship.

"I think it's important, too, for their relationship to talk about certain things that maybe they hadn't talked about in the past, but they just did it now in front of the world," she said.

Although the former "Flip or Flop" stars are now on good terms, Haack and El Moussa's relationship was strained in 2021 and 2022.

People reported in July 2021 that El Moussa yelled at Haack on set, calling her "a washed-up loser." When "Flip or Flop" ended in March 2022, the outlet reported that the show had become "too intimate" for the exes to film together.

Haack was surprised she opened up to El Moussa about their past

Haack said she didn't anticipate talking to her ex-husband about their past when they discussed her divorce from Hall on "The Flip Off."

"Going into that scene, I didn't mean for that — that wasn't set up," she told BI. "No one said, 'Hey, talk about these things.'"

"It was supposed to be, 'Just tell Tarek that you and Josh broke up,' but I was so emotional in general over what I've been dealing with for the past year," Haack said, adding that it turned into a "therapy session."

"I think it's good to show the world that we're not just house flippers," El Moussa told BI about the conversation. "You know, we're humans, and we have feelings and emotions and lives, and we're no different than everyone else."

New episodes of "The Flip Off" will air on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on HGTV and be available for streaming on Max the next day.

The most dramatic moments from HGTV's 'The Flip Off'

HGTV

  • "The Flip Off" premiered on HGTV on January 29.
  • Tarek and Heather Rae El Moussa compete against Christina Haack in the show's house-flipping contest.
  • The show features plenty of drama, from reno stress to tension between Haack and Josh Hall.

After months of anticipation, HGTV's "The Flip Off" premiered on January 29.

The show sees exes Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa of "Flip or Flop" fame compete to see who can make the most money from a house flip.

They were each set to team up with their new spouses for the show, and Tarek El Moussa completed the series with his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa. Haack, however, took on the challenge alone after her split from Josh Hall in July 2024.

The series is full of real estate and personal drama as the contestants, from renovation issues to the downfall of Haack's marriage.

Read on to check out the most dramatic moments of "The Flip Off" so far.

In episode one, Haack and the El Moussas attend a soccer game to support Haack and Tarek El Moussa's son, Brayden.

Haack and her ex-husband started chatting about business on the sidelines, and she mentioned that some house-flipping projects she and Hall took on in Tennessee weren't going well.

"So, you needed the master there," Tarek El Moussa said. "I wasn't there to help you guys. If you guys want, if you pay for my plane ticket, I'll go help you guys."

Haack disagreed and asked about his real-estate projects, which he also said had been difficult because of increasing interest rates. He implied that Haack couldn't have known about that without him.

"Oh god. You act like I've never flipped a freakin house," Haack said. "Can you show some respect for your older children's mom?"

The pair and Heather Rae El Moussa agreed to compete in "The Flip Off" shortly after.

In the premiere, Haack and Hall's house for the competition fell through just two days before their deadline.

As part of the competition, each team was given a week to find a home to flip for the series.

Haack and Hall thought they found the perfect home on their first day of searching, putting in an offer on a property and even taunting the El Moussas about the find.

Just two days before the deadline to find a home, they discovered a lien was placed against the house, which meant they couldn't buy it within the needed timeline.

They found another property to renovate before the deadline was up, but it added stress to the process for the pair.

Hall and his father completed the demolition portion of his and Haack's flip instead of hiring a team, both to save money and because Hall said he enjoys demos.

Amid the project, Hall spoke to his father about El Moussa's approach toward flips, as El Moussa doesn't do much of the manual labor for his projects.

"Tarek, he says, 'I'm not handy. I'm not getting dirty. I'm not sweating,'" Hall said.

Hall then FaceTimed El Moussa, and when he answered, El Moussa appeared to be sitting on a couch.

"When I was a rookie flipper, I used to do the work, too," El Moussa responded. "When you're a pro like me, you get to sit on the big couch."

El Moussa taunted Hall, saying Haack would go over budget and "mismanage" their flip.

"Get out here, act like a man, and put on a shirt that's not $700, and you can save money on demo," Hall responded.

In the first episode, Hall said he wished Haack would "shut up" on a car ride.

In one scene of the premiere, Hall and Haack discussed the competition while driving to the property they're flipping.

Hall said he would do "whatever it takes to win" and added, "Halls rule." Haack didn't immediately respond, which seemed to aggravate him.

"Remember, you're a Hall now," he said. "Don't get confused in this competition about what your last name is."

"When I met Josh, my name was still Christina El Moussa on everything," Haack told producers in a one-on-one interview. "Josh did not like that, and he was all about me becoming a Hall."

The scene cut back to Haack and Hall in the car. Haack got confused when Hall mentioned something about a billboard they passed, which led Hall to call Haack "rude" and say he wished she would "shut up" and that she was "pissing" him off.

Speaking to producers, Haack said Hall had been "a bit moody lately."

"Josh knows that Tarek and I have a history," she said. "I'm sure some of it is the stress of the competition."

HGTV shared a shorter version of the car clip ahead of the premiere, and Hall responded on his Instagram story, saying it was "manufactured drama." In response, Haack then shared a photo of herself crying, which she said was taken after one of her days filming with Hall.

Later in the first episode, Haack invited Tarek El Moussa to her home, where she told him that she and Hall had split up after a "blowup over nothing."

"Things with Josh have been bad for a long time. Not just kinda bad, like bad," she said. "The kids literally asked me to leave. They told me he's not nice to me."

"You make him very insecure," she told El Moussa.

Haack then got emotional, reflecting on how difficult her personal life has been since she and El Moussa separated in 2016.

"I feel like I try to hide it and act like I'm not affected, but then I just do more stupid things to try to make myself feel better," she said through tears. "And I just keep doing it. And getting into things too fast that I know aren't right."

El Moussa told Haack not to be hard on herself, and they both apologized for the pain they caused each other over the last nine years.

Heather Rae El Moussa took the reins on their home's design.

HGTV

In episode one, Tarek and Heather Rae El Moussa discussed their design plans for their kitchen and living area, with the former "Selling Sunset" star showing her husband samples of the cabinets she planned to use in the kitchen.

Tarek El Moussa asked to see options, but his wife told him she had already made her selection, saying, "I don't need your decision."

"Wow, you don't need my decision," he repeated. "Wow."

He also questioned his wife's intention to "take risks" with their design, and she replied that she didn't want it to be "boring."

"It's Heather's house," she said. "And yours."

"Just like our son. It's Heather's son. And mine," Tarek El Moussa said as his wife laughed. "This house is yours. And mine."

Heather Rae El Moussa also became frustrated when her husband suggested a tweak to her vision for the fireplace.

"You're upsetting me. You're upsetting me," she said. "I am so stressed out. You don't even understand. Everyone's gonna be talking smack about me against her."

In an interview with producers, she then said that she wanted to prove to Haack that she was just as good a designer as she was.

Haack faced some challenges in the kitchen challenge in the first episode.

HGTV

As Haack's kitchen came together, she realized the spot where she originally intended to put her pantry looked out of place.

"With all the divorce drama, I overlooked a major flaw in the kitchen cabinet design," she said. "My original plan called for the pantry to be on the left side of the kitchen. But now, I think we need to move it to the right so we can open the space up."

However, the change made her want to add more counters and cabinets to the left side of the room. Her counters were being delivered the next day, so she wasn't sure she could make the change happen.

Luckily, her supplier had the additional counters, so Haack's vision came to life exactly as she pictured.

Haack faced another hiccup during judging. She poured ice water down her sink as her kitchen was being evaluated, not knowing the drain wasn't fully attached. Water ended up all over the floor, and the guest judge for the episode, Heather Dubrow of "Real Housewives of Orange County," dinged her for the mishap.

The El Moussas won the kitchen challenge, though Dubrow said she preferred Haack's design.

In episode two, Haack and Tarek El Moussa's contractor, Izzy Battres, made a surprise appearance.

Because she lost the kitchen competition, Haack had to give the El Moussas something worth $2,000 for their primary bedroom competition.

They selected a dresser, and Haack brought Izzy Battres, the contractor she and her ex-husband worked with for years on "Flip or Flop," with her to deliver it. Though she was competing alone, the El Moussas had been asking Haack who her new partner for the series was, so she brought Battres to confuse them.

"I just love getting in Tarek's head and messing with him, and Izzy's definitely along for the ride," Haack said.

When they arrived at the El Moussas' home, Tarek El Moussa was shocked to see Battres and Haack together.

"Is that your new partner?" he said. "You're going down, Izzy, if you teamed up with her."

"Traitor," Heather Rae El Moussa said to him through a laugh.

"I know where you live, I know where you work, I know everything about you," Tarek El Moussa told Battres, though he appeared to be joking. He eventually hugged Battres, and the pair brought the dresser into his home together.

Haack revealed details of her divorce proceedings with Hall in episode two.

In the episode, Haack's contractor asked her if she had court proceedings the following week.

"It got postponed because he made a horrible offer," Haack said, speaking of Hall. "He asked for $3.5 million from me."

It's unclear when the episode was filmed, and Haack and Hall's divorce proceedings are ongoing.

The El Moussas discovered their primary bathroom wasn't complete when it was time to judge each space.

The day the primary suite challenge ended in episode two, the El Moussas arrived at the home to stage the space before judging.

However, when they arrived, they found issues in their primary bathroom. Parts of their walls were painted the wrong color, the ceiling and baseboards hadn't been painted at all, and there were some small holes in the wall.

Tarek El Moussa did some last-minute painting, but he painted the ceiling the wrong color.

"You guys are all stressing me out," his wife said when he told her he painted the ceiling the wrong color.

Haack's and Tarek El Moussa's mothers judged the primary suites and noted the issues with the ceiling. However, the El Moussas still won the primary suite challenge.

Nearly 10 years after they separated, the "Flip or Flop" stars Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack are reuniting on HGTV.

"The Flip Off," which premieres Wednesday, stars the pair and Heather Rae El Moussa, Tarek El Moussa's wife.

The show originally intended to pit the El Moussas against Haack and her husband, Josh Hall, to see who could make the most money from flipping a home. After Haack and Hall filed for divorce in July, Haack did most of the competition against the El Moussas solo.

Though the show makes Haack and the El Moussas competitors, the trio told Business Insider they were open to working as a team in the future.

The El Moussas and Haack are open to working on a flip together

Haack and Tarek El Moussa were married from 2009 to 2018, and they share two children, Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9. They also starred in "Flip or Flop" from 2013 to 2022.

Tarek El Moussa married Heather, a former "Selling Sunset" star, in 2021. They share one son, Tristan, who will turn 2 on Friday. Haack has a son, Hudson, 5, from her relationship with her ex-husband Ant Anstead.

"The Flip Off" marks the first on-screen collaboration between Haack and Tarek since "Flip or Flop" ended, though each has their own HGTV series now. Tarek and Heather star on "The Flipping El Moussas" together, and Haack has turned to spotlighting her renovations for clients in "Christina on the Coast" and "Christina in the Country."

Despite all their experience with real estate and reality TV, competing against each other was new for Haack and Tarek. When asked if they'd consider returning to their roots and flipping a house as a trio on- or off-screen, Haack and Heather said they were interested, though Tarek wasn't quite as enthusiastic.

He nodded at the question and said, "Hmm," prompting Haack to tell him to relax through laughter.

"Every time someone asks this question, we're like, 'Yeah, that would be so fun,'" she said of herself and Heather. "This one's over here like, 'Oh, I don't know.'"

"He's like, 'I don't know if I want to work with them,'" Heather said, mimicking her husband's voice.

The trio bickered about the idea before Haack asked Tarek directly about teaming up.

"If I was like, 'Hey, would you guys like to partner on a flip and we can split the profits,' you would say no?" Haack said.

"I would say yes," Tarek said.

"OK then, that's your answer," Haack told BI, laughing.

"Why am I getting in trouble right now? What happened?" Tarek said jokingly.

Heather said she'd be excited to collaborate with Haack from a design perspective.

"I think it would be fun to see Christina and I design together," she said, adding that she'd be interested to see if they could bring their ideas together.

Only time will tell if the El Moussas and Haack combine their design forces, but the fact that it's even a possibility is a testament to how their relationship has grown in recent years.

When "Flip or Flop" ended in March 2022, reports suggested that filming had become "too intimate" for Haack and Tarek.

Two months later, photos appeared to show Haack and Heather fighting at one of Brayden's soccer games and a coach separating Hall and Tarek. Haack and Heather later released a joint statement saying they had resolved a "personal matter," and the pair put aside their differences when Brayden had a health emergency a few days later.

The tension seemed like a distant memory when the trio talked to BI, laughing together as they discussed the series.

Haack also told BI that filming the show without Hall ended up being a "major advantage" because he didn't have as much experience with flipping or reality TV as she does.

"I think that without him it's just easier," she said. A representative for Hall didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

"The Flip Off" premieres on HGTV at 8 p.m. ET. You can also stream the show on Max.

Meet Josh Hall, who will appear on HGTV's 'The Flip Off' amid his divorce from Christina Haack

  • Christina Haack and Josh Hall are getting divorced.
  • Hall is a former police officer and current real-estate agent.
  • Before Hall debuted on HGTV, his sisters appeared on reality TV shows.

Christina Haack and Josh Hall are getting divorced less than three years after they tied the knot.

Hall remained a bit of a mystery to the public throughout his marriage to Haack. He wasn't an HGTV star like her other exes and didn't even have an Instagram when he and Haack started dating.

Here's everything you need to know about Hall.

Josh Hall is a real-estate agent

According to The Foundry Group's website, of which Hall is a cofounder, Hall was born at the Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood) Army base. He lived across the US throughout his early childhood because his father worked for the military.

His family eventually moved to Southern California, where Hall grew up alongside two sisters, Jessica Hall and Stacie (née Hall) Adams. He is the eldest child in his family.

Hall became a police officer when he was 21, a job he held for 16 years. He has posted about his career as a police officer on Instagram.

Hall's law enforcement career ended after he was injured on the job, and after he retired, he decided to become a licensed real-estate agent in Texas. Realtor.com reported that he moved to Austin in 2017 for his work.

Real estate brought Hall and Haack together. US Weekly reported they first met at a real-estate conference at some point in the late 2010s, though they didn't start dating until 2021.

Hall later relocated to Franklin, Tennessee, where he and Haack renovated homes on "Christina in the Country."

Haack wasn't Hall's first wife

Haack was married to two of her HGTV peers before she married Hall, first to her "Flip or Flop" costar Tarek El Moussa and then to Ant Anstead, who also had an HGTV show. She shares two children with Tarek and one child with Anstead.

Hall was also married to a woman named Chelsea before he and Haack were involved. He married Chelsea in August 2016, according to an Instagram post that Jessica Hall shared.

Chelsea also spoke to US Weekly in July 2024 after Hall and Haack filed for divorce, telling the outlet she and Hall were together for seven years and married for nearly five. She also said their divorce was finalized in May 2021 after they separated in February.

Haack and Hall never specifically shared when they started dating, but in March 2022, Haack shared a photo of them taken in March 2021, indicating they were together before his divorce from Chelsea was finalized.

Hall and Haack got married in October 2021, though they didn't make the marriage public until April 2022.

Hall's family has reality TV ties

After he and Haack tied the knot, Hall appeared on her HGTV shows, "Christina on the Coast" and "Christina in the Country." He was also set to star in "The Flip Off" with her before their split.

Hall's not the only member of his family with reality TV experience.

His sister, Stacie Adams, appeared on "The Hills," on which she was known as "Stacie the bartender." Spencer Pratt's flirtation with her despite his long-term relationship with Heidi Montag was a dramatic plot point in season five of the series in 2009.

Likewise, Jessica Hall appeared on MTV's "Burned" in 2003 and as a briefcase model on "Deal or No Deal" in 2005, People reported. She was also a Playboy model, and she appeared frequently in Kendra Wilkinson's series "Kendra" and "Kendra on Top," as the pair were close friends.

Jessica Hall also had a friendship with Heather Rae El Moussa, who was a Playboy model before becoming a "Selling Sunset" star and marrying Haack's first ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa. Jessica Hall and Heather Rae El Moussa even hosted the "Flashbacks" podcast together for a period.

Hall filed for divorce from Haack

Hall filed for divorce from Haack on July 12, 2024, citing their date of separation as July 8 in a petition reviewed by Business Insider.

Haack filed a petition for the dissolution of their marriage on July 23, listing their separation date as July 7.

Both cited irreconcilable differences as grounds for divorce. In the months since they announced their split, they have gone back and forth in court over the details of their relationship, and the divorce has yet to be settled.

Six months after their split, Hall and Haack are both in new relationships. Hall went public with his relationship with Stephanie Gabrys, a model, on Instagram on January 13, and People reported on January 11 that Haack is dating Christopher Larocca, the CEO of Network Connex.

Although he has moved on to a new partner and phase of life, Hall will appear in the first episode of "The Flip Off" on January 29, as filming for the series began before their split.

The series will also provide some insight into their breakup, as was evident in two teaser clips released by HGTV in the lead-up to the series.

In one clip, Hall called Haack "rude" and said he wished she would "shut up." In another clip, Haack spoke to Tarek El Moussa about her breakup with Hall, telling him they had a "blowup" fight and that their children asked her to leave Hall.

They haven't appeared together on screen since the show ended in 2022, but they are reuniting in January on "The Flip Off" alongside Tarek El Moussa's second wife, Heather Rae El Moussa.

In the early 2000s, El Moussa and Haack met while working at a real-estate office, as he shared in his 2024 book "Flip Your Life."

They joined forces professionally and personally, and in 2008, the housing market crash hit them hard. According to The OC Register, they had to move to a cheaper home before "Flip or Flop" started.

According to "Flip Your Life," El Moussa had a friend help him film an episode of a reality show that detailed how to flip a home in 2011.

He submitted the episode to a production company, which loved it. The company created a sizzle reel of El Moussa and Haack, and HGTV became interested in making the show come to life.

As El Moussa shared in "Flip Your Life," a "Flip or Flop" viewer who was a nurse noticed a lump in El Moussa's neck while she was watching the show. She emailed producers about it, leading El Moussa to see a doctor.

He was diagnosed with stage 3 thyroid cancer after exploratory surgery, and he had his thyroid and the surrounding lymph nodes removed. He also underwent radioactive iodine therapy to treat the cancer.

Two months after he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, El Moussa decided to look into his medical history, and he ended up getting diagnosed with testicular cancer after noticing something abnormal on a test. He had one testicle removed to treat the cancer.

Both cancers are in remission today.

Us Weekly reported that, on May 23, 2016, Orange County police were called to El Moussa and Haack's home in response to a "possibly suicidal male with a gun."

Eyewitnesses reportedly told police they saw El Moussa "run out of his back door, jump over his back fence, and walk northbound into the hiking trails of the Chino Hills State Park."

A witness said Haack was following him and was "crying and shaking." One of Haack's friends was in the home at the time and told police she saw him grab a handgun before he left.

In "Flip Your Life," El Moussa said he left their home "after an especially heated confrontation with Christina" and took a pistol with him in case he saw any wildlife. He also said in the book that he had a concealed carry license for the firearm.

El Moussa also wrote in "Flip Your Life" that Haack called the police, and they took him home in handcuffs after tracking him down via a helicopter, as per their "protocol."

He added that the incident marked the end of his marriage to Haack.

"And that was the very last time we were together as a family: with Christina walking down the driveway, crying, and me sitting there in handcuffs, asking myself, 'What in the world is going on?'" he wrote in his book.

"There was no violence and no charges were filed. We chose to get counseling to sort out our relationship. Together, we have decided to separate while we reevaluate the future of our marriage," the statement went on to say.

"During this process, we are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be," they added. "We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together."

People later reported that a source said El Moussa was "super remorseful" about his comments. But the same source said that Haack and El Moussa weren't friends.

HGTV confirmed the series was ending in a statement provided to Business Insider, adding that Haack's and El Moussa's individual series would continue.

"Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack are long-time, fan-favorite stars on HGTV, and it's true that 'Flip or Flop' is coming to an end after an epic 10-season run as a top-rated unscripted series," a representative for HGTV said in a statement to BI. "More than 90 million viewers have watched the popular series since its premiere in 2013."

"We look forward to seeing more of Tarek and Christina's real life, real estate and renovation adventures in upcoming episodes of their solo series 'Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa' and 'Christina on the Coast,'" the network added.

Neither Haack nor El Moussa mentioned each other in their posts.

On May 9, 2022, The Daily Mail published pictures of the El Moussas, Haack, and Hall at Brayden's soccer game on May 8.

In some pictures, Heather Rae El Moussa and Haack appear to be arguing, and Hall and Tarek El Moussa look like they are fighting in separate photos. The Daily Mail reported that Brayden's soccer coach had to separate Hall and Tarek El Moussa.

The incident occurred just one day after Heather Rae El Moussa seemed to confirm on the "Selling Sunset" reunion that her husband had called her a "hotter, richer version" of Haack during their on-set fight.

On May 11, 2022, representatives for Haack and Heather Rae El Moussa confirmed they argued in a statement to BI and said they had "resolved" their issue.

"A personal matter was discussed and has since been resolved," the statement said. "We are focused on co-parenting as a team moving forward."

On May 8, Haack shared on Instagram that Brayden had an emergency appendectomy, as well as his Meckel's diverticulum removed.

In an Instagram story she posted on May 9, Haack said the experience was a "wake-up call."

"Stressful 24 hours but a good reminder how important team work / co-parenting is," she said on her story. "We are all under pressure but when it really matters we were all there for Brayden doing our part."

"Sometimes a scary situation can be a good wake up call. In the end all the other stuff is just 'noise,' what matters is the kids," the post went on to say. Haack tagged Heather and Tarek El Moussa, as well as Hall, in the post.

Heather Rae El Moussa posted a similar sentiment on her Instagram story.

"We all pulled together as a family during this stressful time," she said. "The kids will always be the main priority to all of us."

The finale aired on December 1, 2022. It showed the exes renovating a 2,200-square-foot duplex home and reminiscing about the series' 11-year run.

May 15, 2024: HGTV announced Haack and El Moussa would reunite on "The Flip Off" with their new spouses.

In a press release announcing the series, HGTV described "The Flip Off" as "a battle to see who can find, buy, renovate, and flip a house for the biggest financial gain'" in which the El Moussas would compete against Haack and Hall.

The show marks El Moussa and Haack's first on-screen reunion since "Flip or Flop" ended.

"It was not fun, to be honest," Haack told ET. "I did not enjoy filming with him. So having split up made this, to be honest, so much easier."

She added that filming "would have been hard" because Hall was jealous of Tarek El Moussa.

The El Moussas spoke to ET separately, and Heather Rae El Moussa agreed that filming with Hall wasn't fun.

"I don't want to be mean, but it was kind of nice to see him go," she said.

"The Flip Off" will premiere on January 29, 2025.

  • Rebecca Yarros explored Violet Sorrengail's second signet power in "Onyx Storm."
  • Violet's second signet comes from her connection with Andarna and manifested in "Iron Flame."
  • Warning: There are major spoilers for "Onyx Storm" ahead.

Rebecca Yarros' "Onyx Storm" was released on Tuesday, continuing the author's romantasy series about Violet Sorrengail, a dragon rider studying at Basgiath War College.

The third book in the "Empyrean" series was full of romance, magic, and plot twists, and the story is set to continue in two additional books.

In "Onyx Storm," Yarros answered lots of questions that "Fourth Wing" and "Iron Flame" raised, such as how turning venin impacts Xaden and what type of dragon Andarna is. And to the relief of Yarros' fans, the third installment also revealed Violet's second signet power.

Heads-up: The rest of this article contains spoilers for the "Empyrean" series.

Violet Sorrengail has two signet powers

In the "Empyrean" universe, all riders have a signet power that manifests after they bond with a dragon. Every rider can do lesser magic, such as opening doors without touching them, but a signet power is unique to each rider, and some are more powerful than others.

Violet's signet manifested as lightning wielding in "Fourth Wing," a particularly powerful signet. Her lightning comes through her bond with her dragon Tairn, with Violet often describing his power as a flood that comes through their connection.

In "Iron Flame," Yarros introduces the idea of second signets, explaining that riders directly related to their dragons' previous riders can develop two signet powers. The text also suggests Violet could have a second signet since she is bonded to both Tairn and the younger dragon, Andarna. She is the only rider in known history to bond with two dragons.

Yarros confirmed Violet's second signet had already manifested in "Iron Flame" when speaking to Variety after its release in 2023. However, it's not until midway through "Onyx Storm" that Violet becomes aware of her additional power — dream-walking.

Violet is a dream-walker

Yarros finally reveals Violet is a dream-walker in Chapter 50 of "Onyx Storm."

Throughout "Onyx Storm," Violet has a recurring nightmare of confronting a venin Sage in a field. In Chapter 50, she realizes during the dream that her hand looks like Xaden's, not hers. After she wakes and speaks to Xaden about it, he realizes Violet was in his dream.

They first suspect Violet can enter Xaden's dreams because of the mental bond they share through their dragons. However, as they discuss it, Violet reflects on a different dream she had earlier in the book. In it, she fled a fire at Cliffsbane, the gryphon flier school, and couldn't hold onto a portrait of her family as her friend Cat dragged her away. Violet wonders aloud if she was experiencing her friend Maren's dream, as Maren and Cat are best friends.

The confession makes Xaden realize that Violet is a dream-walker, a powerful form of an inntinnsic, or mind reader, who can enter other people's dreams while they sleep. After Andarna confirms the signet, Violet realizes she must have developed her dream-walking ability when Andarna was in a deep sleep. Andarna grew from a juvenile to an adolescent while sleeping for weeks, and Violet's power was looking for a way to connect with Andarna while she was unconscious.

Xaden, who has kept his inntinnsic ability to read people's intentions secret from everyone but Violet, explains to her that her signet is particularly dangerous because riders have no defense against it.

"I can only read someone while they're awake, and I'm limited by their ability to shield," he told her in the book. "No one can shield while they're sleeping."

He adds to her that she could enter the dream of even the most powerful general in the Navarre army without his knowledge, telling her many would kill her because of her second signet.

Although her dreams in "Onyx Storm" reveal her second signet, Violet was clearly dream-walking unknowingly in "Iron Flame" as well. In the book, she repeatedly dreamed of confronting a venin Sage who told her she would turn for love. Violet didn't turn venin, but Xaden did to save Violet, indicating that the Sage was speaking to him in the dreams, not Violet.

Violet hasn't mastered dream-walking yet

By the end of " Onyx Storm, " Violet doesn't know how to use her new signet intentionally; she only accidentally enters other people's dreams.

In most of the dreams she inhabits throughout the book, Violet views the scene from the perspective of the person sleeping, though she can sometimes recognize she is dreaming and attempt to wake herself up.

However, in the final dream of "Onyx Storm," Violet realizes she is in Xaden's dream. She then appears as herself in the dream alongside him and confronts the Sage. The Sage hints that the venin have taken Violet's sister, which proves true when Violet wakes up. Violet is also able to end the dream by summoning a knife and stabbing herself with it.

The interaction indicates that the Sage can communicate in the dream world as Violet can, and it gives clues as to how she may operate more deliberately when dream-walking, such as using pain to wake herself and actively recognizing the dream as someone else's to become herself.

Xaden also tells Violet he believes she can "meddle" in people's dreams, as she stops him from channeling power from the ground in one of his nightmares. Violet hasn't fully explored that ability yet, and it may be difficult for her to learn to wield her dream-walking signet since she must be asleep to practice.

Andarna also says Violet has been "mostly drawn to" Xaden's dreams since she manifested, though maybe she will spend more time in other people's dreams in the fourth book.

Fans had other theories on what Violet's second signet could have been

There were multiple popular theories about Violet's signet before Yarros revealed it, including distance wielding and communicating with the dead.

As Yarros writes in "Iron Flame," distance wielders can "cross hundreds of miles in a single step," and there hasn't been one among the riders for multiple centuries when Violet enters Basgiath.

Readers suspected Violet may be a distance wielder because Andarna told her at the end of "Iron Flame" that she waited 650 years before hatching so she could bond with her specifically, and there seemed to be instances where Violet moved faster than the average rider.

However, it turns out Garrick Tavis, Xaden's best friend, actually has distance wielding as his second, secret signet, which he uses to help Violet and their friends throughout "Onyx Storm."

The idea that Violet could communicate with the dead came from her interactions with what she believes is a hallucination of her friend Liam Mairi, who died at the end of "Fourth Wing."

Liam appears to Violet when she is held hostage by General Varrish in "Iron Flame." He speaks to Violet throughout her imprisonment and even touches her shoulder at one point, though no one else can see him. When Violet calls him a hallucination, Liam makes an offhand comment about the possibility of Malek, the god of death, sending him to her.

Perhaps Liam was just a hallucination, or his appearance could be related to Violet's connection to the god Dunne that Yarros slowly revealed in "Onyx Storm."

The fourth book in the "Empyrean" series will likely explore how the gods affect Violet's fate, though neither Yarros nor her publisher, Red Tower, have shared a release date or anything about the next book's plot.

  • Melania Trump's style has been closely watched since she became first lady.
  • Her best first lady looks mix her personal style with a professional edge.
  • Melania Trump has also worn some controversial outfits over the years.

Melania Trump is officially first lady again.

She returned to the White House in a dark navy outfit on Monday, striking a markedly different tone with her attire than she did when President Donald Trump first took office in 2017.

Since becoming first lady, Melania Trump's style has often been a source of attention, as some of her outfits have been controversial.

Take a look at some of the best and worst looks she's worn while Donald Trump has been in office.

Ralph Lauren Collection designed the knee-length, powder-blue dress Melania wore to Trump's inauguration in 2017, as well as the coordinating shrug and gloves she wore with the look.

She accessorized the outfit with pearl earrings and blue, pointed-toe heels.

The full ensemble evoked Jackie Kennedy's style. From the bright color to the nod to one of America's most iconic first ladies, Melania's look was the perfect choice for her husband's first inauguration.

Her custom gown for the 2017 inaugural balls featured standout three-dimensional detailing.

Hervé Pierre custom-designed Melania's off-the-shoulder dress for the inaugural ball.

The cream dress had an A-line silhouette, a thigh-high slit on one side, and three-dimensional fabric that curved across the bodice. A thin red belt cinched at the waist for a pop of color.

The dress felt high-fashion, connecting the first lady to her past as a model as she stepped into a new role.

In August 2017, the Trumps visited Corpus Christi, Texas, following Hurricane Harvey to assess recovery efforts.

The pair wore casual attire, with Melania arriving in a white button-down, black jeans, and sneakers. She also added a black baseball hat to her look that said "FLOTUS," first lady of the United States, on the front.

Melania's outfit quickly became a source of social-media chatter, with some saying her hat called attention to her in the wake of the natural disaster while others praised her casual outfit.

Her suit for a Canadian state visit in October 2017 was more fitting for the occasion.

When greeting Justin and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau at the White House in October 2017, Melania wore a gray pinstripe suit instead of a dress.

The suit featured high-waisted pants, and she paired it with a white button-down and an untied black tie. The outfit was unexpected for a first lady, offering a fun style moment.

In April 2018, the Trumps hosted Japan's prime minister at the time, Shinzo Abe, and his wife, Akie Abe, at Mar-a-Lago, during which the first lady wore an off-the-shoulder dress from Carolina Herrera.

The dress was covered in black and white stripes, with thicker black stripes on the bodice and the pattern reversed on the midi-length skirt.

She added white heels to her look, and Trump wore a navy and white striped tie that matched his wife's look. The coordinating outfits were an atypical but welcome choice for the couple.

The same month, Melania stunned in a black minidress and coordinating coat.

Melania greeted President Macron of France and his wife Brigitte in a black minidress and black pumps at the White House.

The standout feature of her outfit was a Givenchy tuxedo cape, which added a flair of personality to the otherwise simple look.

The semi-sheer dress she wore to a state dinner for the Macrons during the same trip was a little too busy.

The first lady changed into a silver Chanel dress for the dinner.

Most of the form-fitting dress was covered in textured fabric, while the top of the bodice and bottom of the skirt were made of a sheer, black fabric adorned with silver embellishments.

The fabrics didn't blend well, making the dress look too busy. It would have been a better look without the sheer fabric.

In June 2018, Melania received backlash for wearing a jacket that said, "I really don't care, do u?"

In June 2018, Melania visited an immigration facility in McAllen, Texas, where children were living, wearing a green Zara jacket that said "I really don't care, do u?" on the back.

Critics said the jacket was insensitive to wear for the visit, critiquing both the first lady and the president for the fashion faux pas.

Melania's former aide, Stephanie Grisham, wrote in her book "I'll Take Your Questions Now" that the president yelled at Melania for wearing the jacket, though Trump and the first lady both said she wore it to send a message to the left-wing media.

Melania wore a floor-length wrap dress from Ralph Lauren to celebrate Independence Day 2018.

The blue-and-white gingham dress was fun and festive for the holiday, but the oversize red belt tied at her waist overwhelmed the look.

If the first lady had swapped the bow for a thinner belt, her dress would have been more effective.

Melania's suit for a trip to Egypt in October 2018 also raised some eyebrows.

Melania posed for photos in front of pyramids in Egypt wearing cream trousers, a white blouse, a black tie, and a sand-colored Ralph Lauren blazer. A white-and-black boater hat completed the look.

The outfit may have been innocuously stylish in a different venue, but some social-media users thought the outfit looked similar to one worn by "Raiders of the Lost Ark" villain René Belloq during his visit to the pyramids in the film.

It wasn't the first time Melania faced criticism for one of her outfits on her visit to Africa. During her tour of the pyramids and the Great Sphinx, Melania told reporters, "I wish people would focus on what I do, not what I wear," following backlash for wearing a white pith helmet.

"You know what? We just completed an amazing trip," she added. "We went to Ghana, we went to Malawi, we went to Kenya, here we are in Egypt. I want to talk about my trip, not what I wear."

Brown pants weren't a great choice for Melania's evening arrival at the White House in December 2018.

Donald and Melania Trump arrived at the White House on the evening of December 27, holding hands as they walked across the lawn.

While the president was in a suit, Melania wore a green jacket, light-brown pants, and matching shoes.

The pants might have been a better choice for a daytime look, as it was difficult for some to tell if the first lady was even wearing bottoms at first glance in the dark. The addition of sunglasses to her nighttime look was also an odd choice.

Melania's outfit would have worked better during the day or with different pants.

In April 2019, Melania rocked a stylish polka-dot dress.

In April 2019, the first lady was photographed at the White House in a black-and-white polka-dot dress designed by Alessandra Rich.

The high-neck dress cinched at the waist with a black belt, coordinating with the dots on the dress, and hit her mid-calf.

Melania wore a cream coat over her shoulders and her signature sunglasses, adding glamour to the feminine look.

Gloves brought an elegant touch to her look for a June 2019 state dinner in the UK.

During a visit to the UK, Melania attended a state dinner with the royal family in a Dior gown.

A layer of semi-sheer fabric covered the gown's scooped neckline, forming points on the top of the bodice before transitioning into white fabric. The dress hugged her figure before flaring slightly at her waist.

Melania wore white, elbow-length gloves with the dress. The look was fitting for dining with royalty.

She appeared to take a page out of Kate Middleton's fashion book when she and the president hosted the royals for dinner during the same trip.

Ahead of a dinner at Winfield House, where the American ambassador to the UK lives, Melania was photographed in a red Givenchy gown.

Melania's floor-length dress was sleeveless and featured a built-in cape, a silhouette Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, often favors.

Melania's yellow and pink outfit in December 2019 was almost too colorful.

During another visit to the UK in December 2019, Melania stepped out in a high-neck, cape coat from Valentino. The coat was mustard yellow, and Melania paired it with a pink dress and coordinating pumps.

The jacket was a big statement in and of itself, so the look would have been more effective if the first lady had worn a more neutral color with it than bright pink.

Melania's black-and-white look for the Daytona 500 in February 2020 was stylish.

Melania's black Dior sundress was fairly simple. The midi-length dress featured a V-neckline and a white, dotted pattern.

The white lace belt from Alaïa and white Christian Louboutin pumps she wore with the dress made the look cohesive, and she also added sunglasses to the outfit.

The look balanced Melania's personal style and traditional first lady attire.

A pink dress Melania wore during the virtual Republican National Convention in August 2020 would have been better without bow detailing.

Melania appeared alongside Trump in a hot-pink midi-dress from Jason Wu at the 2020 RNC.

The dress featured a boat neckline and a flared skirt, and two black bows sat on the waistline, which appeared to be cinched with elastic. Melania wore black pumps with the dress.

The bows on the dress could have been chic, but they looked a bit crumpled throughout the night, particularly because they sat atop the ruched waistline and contrasted so heavily with the pink fabric. The dress would have been a better fit if there had just been one or no bows on the waistline.

She wore a pleated dress at the 2020 RNC, but the green color felt out of place.

Melania wore a cape dress to close out the RNC, choosing a neon-green piece from Valentino.

The ankle-length, high-neck dress was covered in vertical pleats and featured two swaths of fabric flowing out from her shoulders like a cape. She added a thin pink belt and pink pumps to the outfit.

The silhouette was beautiful, but the green color was an odd choice for the RNC. The color detracted attention from Trump, and as Vanity Fair reported, it allowed social-media users to easily make memes out of the outfit using green screen technology.

If she had worn the dress in a different color, Melania's look would have been a slam dunk.

In November 2020, Melania wore a gingham coat that featured a stylish, built-in scarf.

Melania oversaw the delivery of the 2020 White House Christmas tree in a gingham coat from Balenciaga.

The loose-fitting coat featured an off-center line of buttons, and the collar formed a scarf that wrapped around one of Melania's shoulders. Quarter-length sleeves showed off the first lady's black gloves, just as the knee-length hem spotlighted her black boots from Alaïa.

The look was effortlessly chic.

Melania's final outfit as first lady in January 2021 offered a full circle moment.

When Trump left office in January 2021, Melania chose to wear an all-black outfit.

She paired a form-fitting Dolce & Gabbana dress with a cropped Chanel coat, gloves, Christian Louboutin pumps, and dark sunglasses.

The look seemed to nod to Jackie Kennedy, just as her first outfit as first lady did. However, the darker hues spoke to the more somber tone of the day for the Trumps.

Melania also made headlines for changing into a beachy dress before arriving at Mar-a-Lago later in the day.

When she returned to the White House on January 20, Melania set a new tone as first lady.

Rather than wearing another pastel look to mark the beginning of her husband's second term as president, Melania donned navy and white for the 2025 inauguration.

Adam Lippes designed her coat, which she paired with a white scarf, navy pumps, and a custom boater-style hat from Eric Javits. Boater hats are typically worn in summer, but the wool piece Melania wore offered a winter version.

Although the hat got some negative attention online as people compared it to the one the Hamburglar or V in "V For Vendetta" wore, Melania's inaugural outfit was a savvy choice. The look set a serious tone, blending professional style with Melania's personal taste.

Melania also managed to pull attention from Trump with the look, which was a feat considering how many eyes he had on him throughout the day.

And her custom dress for the 2025 inaugural balls had a modern edge.

Melania opted for another custom Hervé Pierre dress for the 2025 inaugural balls, arriving in a black-and-white dress that felt like a continuation of the fashion story she started with the look she wore during the day.

The strapless dress had an off-the-shoulder neckline, and a zig-zag of black fabric adorned the bodice before framing a slit on one side of the skirt.

A coordinating choker with a brooch completed the stylish gown.

There are plenty of books you can read when you finish "Onyx Storm."

Bloomsbury/Bramble

  • "Onyx Storm," the third installment in Rebecca Yarros's "Empyrean" series, was released on Tuesday.
  • Fans will have to wait a while for the fourth installment of the series.
  • Other fantasy books, such as "Crescent City" and "Divine Rivals," can help with the wait.

The much-anticipated third book in Rebecca Yarros' "Empyrean" series was released on Tuesday.

"Fourth Wing" introduced readers to the world of Basgiath War College, where Violet Sorrengail must train to be a dragon rider — or die.

Her education — and romance with her former nemesis Xaden Riorson — continued in "Iron Flame" and "Onyx Storm," and the stakes are higher than ever as Violet discovers secrets about her world and finds new depths to her power she never expected.

The "Empyrean" series is set to have five books in total, and though she has fully plotted the series, Yarros told Elle she plans to take a break before writing the fourth book.

If you're already struggling to wait for the next installment in the "Empyrean" series, you can read novels with similar themes or enemies-to-lovers romances to help tide you over.

But despite it all, she got what she wanted: an immortal life with Tamlin, the High Lord of the Spring Court.

Feyre's life in the Spring Court starts feeling more claustrophobic by the second, especially when Tamlin forbids her from leaving the house. To her shock, she finds refuge with Rhysand, where she uncovers truths about the Night Court, Rhys, and herself that will change everything she thought she knew.

"Divine Rivals" has the enemies-to-lovers fun and secrecy of Yarros' series, though Rebecca Ross sets her fantasy story against the backdrop of a newsroom instead of a war college.

Iris Winnow is desperate to get promoted to columnist at the Oath Gazette to keep her family afloat. Her mother has fallen into alcoholism since her brother left to fight in a war of the gods, and Iris feels like she is one missed paycheck away from falling into ruin.

She's competing for the promotion against Roman Kitt, her infuriatingly handsome coworker who makes her feel small every time she sees him, and her chances of success feel slimmer and slimmer with each passing day.

The only comfort Iris has is writing letters to her brother on her grandmother's old typewriter. She doesn't know where he is, so she slips the letters under her wardrobe, where they completely disappear. Iris is hopeful her letters are somehow reaching her brother — until a stranger writes back.

Ross's story evolves into an intoxicating fantasy full of romance and longing, and its sequel, "Ruthless Vows," is also available.

"The Inheritance Cycle" series by Christopher Paolini may fall into the young-adult category, but the high-fantasy writing and emotional coming-of-age journey the hero goes on throughout the books will make it just as exciting for adults as it is for younger readers.

In the series opener, Eragon is just a teenager living a simple life on a farm with his family until he stumbles upon a blue stone — which turns out to be the first dragon hatchling born in his country in a century.

Eragon immediately becomes a Dragon Rider when his dragon, Seraphina, hatches, setting him on a path of magic and danger, as the only living rider is supposed the king.

Like Yarros' series, "The Inheritance Cycle" is an epic journey of dragons and their riders, full of magic, romance, and adventure.

Amanda Bouchet's "The Kingmaker Chronicles" is a three-part series full of magic, gods, and romance that will appeal to Yarros fans who were drawn to Violet's powerful signet, as well as Xaden's dedication to her.

In the first installment "A Promise of Fire," Cat Fisa has been on the run for years. She was born with the ability to tell when people are lying, a once-in-a-generation power that makes her the "Kingmaker." But Cat wants nothing to do with her power — or her family in the North that would use her for it — so she stays hidden, pretending to be a soothsayer in a traveling circus in the South.

When Griffin, the general of a newly established human kingdom, sees her, he knows what Cat is immediately and takes her in the hopes of protecting his family's throne. Cat won't go down without a fight, though, and Griffin's hostage becomes even harder to control when powerful members of her family come looking for her.

As they make their way toward his family's castle, Griffin will have to convince Cat his family is worth working with — a task that becomes even more difficult when he realizes he doesn't want Cat to just work with him; he wants her to be his wife.

If you liked the modern flair in the "Empyrean" series, you'll fall head over heels for Sarah J. Maas' steamy "Crescent City" series.

In "House of Earth and Blood," half-fae Bryce Quinlan thrives after graduating from Crescent City University, living with her best friend, the werewolf and alpha of the Pack of Devils Danika Fendyr.

Bryce has everything she wants — until she comes home to find Danika and the Pack of Devils murdered by a demon. She thinks the culprit was arrested, but a year later, similar murders start up again in the city.

Because she's the only one who saw the demon that killed her friends, Bryce teams up with Hunt Athalar, a Fallen angel enslaved to work for the Archangels who run Crescent City, to solve the mystery. As the investigation progresses and Bryce and Hunt's attraction to each other grows, the unlikely pair will discover secrets about Crescent City that could upend their world as they know it.

Maas published three books in the series to date, including "House of Flame and Shadow" in January 2024.

Just as Violet was raised to hate Xaden Riorson, Persephone Dimitriou's fear of Hades was instilled in her from childhood in "Neon Gods" by Katee Robert.

Trusting Hades feels like Persephone's only option after her mother promises her hand in marriage to Zeus, the leader of the 13 houses in the city of Olympus whose wives mysteriously end up dead.

Persephone decides to run away from the city instead of marrying Zeus, seeking refuge with Hades, a man she wasn't even certain existed until she winds up on his doorstep. Luckily, Hades wants revenge on Zeus, too, and they agree making him jealous is the best way to do it.

Hades and Persephone decide to put on a show, but neither expects the real, palpable attraction that develops between them.

A.K. Caggiano's "Villains & Virtues" trilogy has all the magic and enemies-to-lovers fun of the world of "Fourth Wing" with a heap of slow-burn tension and a lighter tone than Yarros' work.

In "Throne in the Dark," Damien Maleficus Bloodthorne is determined to free his demon father from his magical imprisonment and take over the world by his side. There's just one problem: a beautiful, sickeningly sweet human named Amma, who accidentally becomes one with the magical weapon he needs to bring down the mortal powers that be.

Damien has no choice but to travel the realm with Amma to find a way to separate her from the weapon. He could just kill her, but Amma proves to be surprisingly helpful — and to his horror, she isn't the worst travel companion he could imagine.

Amma has secrets of her own, though, and she and Damien will have to work together to get through their respective missions unscathed. And worst of all, as he spends more time with Amma, Damien starts to wonder if what he truly wants is the human by his side.

Penguin Random House

Ali Hazelwood is best known for her New York Times bestselling, STEM-centered romance books, but her first paranormal novel "Bride" can definitely help "Empyrean" fans with their book hangover after they finish "Onyx Storm."

In "Bride," vampire Misery Lark is about to marry Lowe Moreland, the Alpha of the Weres, as part of a historic peace deal. Most vampires would be afraid of agreeing to bind themselves to their natural enemies, but after spending most of her childhood as an emissary among the humans, Misery is ready to take on the risk — especially since she needs the Weres' resources to try to track down Serena, her human foster sister who went missing without a trace.

Misery plans to avoid Lowe as much as possible, but from the moment they meet at their wedding, Misery seems to perplex and infuriate Lowe for reasons she can't understand (aside from their species' century-long feud). Soon, he's keeping a closer eye on her than she would like, and she might not mind his presence as much as she thought.
