'Traitors' Season 3 Cast's Unfiltered Thoughts on Danielle Reyes' Behavior

'Traitors' Season 3 Cast's Unfiltered Thoughts on Danielle Reyes' Behavior
Euan Cherry/PEACOCK

It isn’t just Traitors viewers who are conflicted about Danielle Reyes‘ approach to the game — her season 3 costars are just as confused.

The latest installment of Peacock’s hit series got off to a strong start when Danielle, Bob the Drag Queen and Carolyn Wiger were chosen as Traitors, causing chaos behind the scenes. The situation went even further off the rails once Boston Rob Mariano was brought into the mix, which left everyone at odds.

Boston Rob and Bob the Drag Queen’s Traitor-on-Traitor fighting was tough to watch — but so was Danielle’s very emotional performance in the role of a Faithful. While some found Danielle’s concern that she could be killed off believable, many of her fellow contestants — and fans watching at home — felt she was giving herself away with her over-the-top behavior.

The drama got worse once it was just Danielle and Carolyn left as the last remaining Traitors. Their issues with each other — which stemmed from them both trying to banish the other one from the castle — reached a fever pitch with a heightened roundtable that left Carolyn in tears and Danielle literally shaking when her competitor was unmasked as a Traitor.

All Rules and Behind-the-Scenes Secrets You Didn’t Know About ‘The Traitors’

Despite the offscreen backlash, Danielle stood by her approach.

“That’s all performance and crazy acting,” she told People in February 2025. “I am a non-emotional person in my normal life to the point people think I’m heartless and cold. I’ve been told that. So I decided to cry. I thought I’d be more emotional. I would get emotional at stupid stuff. It’s so cringey. I laugh at myself because it is funny.”

Danielle knew that not everyone would support her gameplay, adding, “It seemed like, ‘What am I doing?’ ‘Oh, you’re an obvious Traitor because you’re not scared,’ but I did act scared. I made my hands shake, but I did put my name up eventually, but it was edited out. My point was to make it seem like I was a Faithful, that’s why I did that.”

She added: “If you listen to people who’ve been murdered and banished, they’re all surprised that I’m a Traitor. I mean, it’d be so boring if I wasn’t doing what I was doing. You don’t want Traitors hugging and singing ‘Kumbaya.’ You want to see the chaos, and that’s what we’re giving you guys.”

Chanel Ayan

During a January 2025 episode of the Traitors aftershow, Ayan had nothing but praise for Danielle, whom she referred to as a “hot grandmother.”

“She has a nice ass for her age. Like it is super up there for a 52-year-old woman,” Ayan quipped. “Her ass made me think she wasn’t a Traitor.”

Chrishell Stause

After coming face to face with Danielle when she was murdered on the show, Chrishell was left unimpressed.

“They cut out the fact that Danielle swore on her grandkids. This is going to come out at the reunion. She knew it was going to be aired on the show and she said it multiple times while filming,” Chrishell said on the “Off the Vine” podcast in February 2025. “There [were] factual things she was doing where I was like, ‘This doesn’t add up.’ I was trying to bring these things up. Just think about facts and don’t go with feeling. If someone swears on whatever, don’t listen, just go on facts.”

The Selling Sunset star added: “Gamers [from Big Brother] take it differently. The ones I was talking to trying to get traction that aren’t gamers, take that in a different way. I feel like there’s a moral difference and they can take advantage of people like us that would think that you would never do that.”

Ciara Miller

“I was kind of disgusted that she was a Traitor,” the Summer House star exclusively told Us Weekly in February 2025 “I just didn’t respect her game-playing.”

Ciara also pointed to Danielle swearing on her family members. “There were some off-camera swearing on kids, grandkids or whatever, and I just didn’t feel like the stakes were that high,” she claimed. “Granted, I don’t play game shows for a living, so I don’t know, but it just felt ridiculous to me.”

At the time, Ciara also came for Danielle’s acting skills, saying, “The tears were a lot. And I’m like, ‘These people aren’t actually dead.’ And then come to find out [she’s a Traitor]? Like, bitch, you’re doing the killing.”

Before her banishment — at Danielle’s hands — aired, Carolyn addressed her fellow Traitor’s gameplay.

“I thought it was ridiculous,” she told People in February 2025. “I thought we may not be getting along in the turret, but I thought we were together. I was really loyal to her. That was the person I was working with. Come on, girl!”

Carolyn initially “felt close” with Danielle before she ended up feeling betrayed. She also said Danielle’s fake crying made her “uncomfortable.”

“I don’t believe that we need to emotionally manipulate people on The Traitors,” she added. “I don’t believe we need to swear on our family or our children. I don’t believe we need to cross those moral lines. I watched last season, and this is supposed to be fun. What is this bitch doing?”

Carolyn ultimately found it “hard to watch” the season back. “It was uncomfortable,” she concluded. “They need to cast more clueless-ass people because that’s fun to watch.”

After her exit, Carolyn shared a poem she wrote for Danielle, saying, “Imagine loving this show and being so excited to have fun and play this game and then you show up with your JCPenney hat wanting to play hard. I get it girl but we are not the same. They say that expectations will leave you frustrated and sad. I didn’t expect to be around constant shaking and crying. I guess that was my bad. You are not just a Traitor. You are keeping Visine in business too. I hope those Big Brother fans are proud of you.”

“Danielle is an absolute icon in the world of reality TV,” Bob the Drag Queen told People in February 2025 about his fellow Traitor. “I don’t think y’all reading at home know how much Danielle Reyes has changed the game of reality TV. You literally don’t know. They do reality differently because of her impact.”

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly in February 2025, Nikki weighed in on Danielle, saying, “The one that sticks out to me the most would be Danielle because when you are trying to act too much, fake cry, and when you look back at the shields. It’s so messy.”

“Watching the Traitors, I’m like, ‘OK, you all are a hot mess,’” Robyn exclusively shared with Us in January 2025 about every Traitor. “I actually messaged Carolyn last night. I’m like, ‘You all are a hot mess. Why did you murder me? But you’re a hot mess,’ and you can just see that it’s going to implode, but it’s very compelling television.”

Robyn noted that she thought Carolyn was going to go far “because she was so under the radar” compared to her costars.

The actor took it upon himself to give Us some pointers that could have helped Danielle’s performance, sharing, “She shouldn’t be shaking and she shouldn’t be crying. When you cry in acting, the best way to cry is when you actually stop yourself from crying. You kind of hide away. It’s a vulnerable moment, and she was not doing that. She was doing the opposite of that, which makes [her] a terrible actor.”

He added: “She was crying for attention and she was giving Traitor [vibes] throughout the whole season. It just wasn’t the right timing for us to get her, but she’s playing hard and she’s competitive and I give her that.”

Christopher Rich Thinks Brock and Reba Rekindled Their Romance After Finale

Brock and Reba didn’t end up together when the Reba sitcom came to an end — but Christopher Rich isn’t ruling out a reconciliation after the fact.

“That show has such a wonderful following that people will comment about it online, and there’s still a whole thing about Reba and Brock getting back together,” Rich, 71, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting his reunion with Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman on NBC’s Happy’s Place. “It kind of kills the show but that’s great credit to Reba and I.”

Rich has appreciated seeing the support for his and McEntire’s characters, adding, “The way we played them made people root for us to get back together as a couple. That’s pretty cool. It’s just so wonderful to work with [Reba and Melissa].”

While Rich doesn’t think Brock and Reba would have lasted, he could see them briefly getting back together. “There’s also a chance that Brock and Reba might have gotten back together for a brief period,” he noted. “That would be fun. It would investigate how exes sometimes reconnect for a brief time and then go, ‘Oh, I see why we divorced.'”

Which 'Reba' Sitcom Alums Have Appeared on Reba McEntire's 'Happy's Place'?

Reba, which aired from 2001 to 2007, followed a single mom (McEntire) who got a fresh start after her husband, Brock (Rich), left her for his pregnant dental hygienist, Barbra Jean (Peterman). Reba focused on raising her three kids — including her pregnant teen daughter (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) and her boyfriend (Steve Howey).

Before Rich weighed in with his theories, Peterman, 53, spoke to Us about where she thought each person — and couple — from the sitcom would be today.

“I think Barbra Jean and Brock would still be together. Van and Cheyenne would be. I think Reba would be either in a really committed relationship or married,” she shared in October 2024. “I honestly think Reba should absolutely have met the love of her life in her life.”

Rich hasn’t gotten the chance to reprise his role as Brock but NBC’s Happy’s Place paved the way for several Reba reunions. The onscreen collaboration was extra meaningful for Rich, who suffered a stroke six years prior.

‘Reba’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

“The crew made it feel like the old Reba set because we were having a blast. They had as much fun as I did, and that was really heartwarming for me. It felt like I was back home in a safe place,” he told Us. “I was really well taken care of. It was a blessing. I want to go back so badly.”

After Happy’s Place wrote his stroke into the script, Rich became more hopeful about revisiting Reba, saying, “Barbara Jean is not going to let Brock get too far away from her. So he’s going to be attached at the hip to Barbara Jean and complaining every step of the way probably. But I imagine if he was well, he’d still be out there playing golf.”

He continued: “That was an interesting thing about what would that be like for Brock to have had a stroke? Melissa had the funniest line. She said, ‘Well, if Brock and Barbara Jean ever get back together and he had the stroke, I can say it’s not so bad. He’s still a loving man. He always was. He doesn’t have any use of his left side — but to be honest — I never much liked what he did with his left hand anyway.'”

Happy’s Place airs on NBC Fridays at 8 p.m. ET.

Tom Schwartz Is Fine Just Making Cameos on ‘The Valley’ After 'VPR' Shakeup

Tom Schwartz Is Fine With Making Cameos on The Valley

Tom Schwartz is only making cameos on The Valley right now — and that’s how he prefers it.

“Time will tell. But they want to keep — this is my interpretation — The Valley pure,” Schwartz, 42, exclusively told Us Weekly at the L.A. Art Show Opening Night on Wednesday, February 19. “I think it is good the way it is.”

Schwartz said he will still make appearances every now and then, adding, “I am sure they will sprinkle me in at times. I just love the Bravo family so of course I would love to be a part of whatever world I fall into.”

Despite not playing a large role on screen, Schwartz is excited to watch the drama unfold.

‘Vanderpump Rules' Stars Who Left the Series: Where Are They Now?

“They might pepper a little Schwartz in here or there. We will see. What I do know just because they are my friends and I know what is going on, it is going to be a hell of a season,” he teased. “Obviously I wasn’t there all the time. But just from talking to my friends who were on the show, it is going to be a doozy.”

He continued: “It is going to be a hell of a season. Maybe one of the best second season debuts ever — from what I am hearing.”

In addition to Schwartz, Scheana Shay, Brock Davies and Lala Kent are also expected to appear on the Vanderpump Rules spinoff. Schwartz appeared on Vanderpump Rules since season 1 as Bravo fans saw his highs and lows over the years.

The Valley, which premiered in 2024, featured an appearance from Schwartz before Bravo confirmed Vanderpump Rules would be going through a cast overhaul for season 12. The network originally put the new Vanderpump Rules season on pause after the cast ended up at odds due to Tom Sandoval’s split from Ariana Madix following his affair with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss.

While the new cast list has yet to be announced, Schwartz is one of multiple stars who have opened up about being ready for a change.

Disney Channel! Lifetime! The ‘Pump Rules’ Cast’s Most Random Acting Gigs

“I’m at peace with it. I kind of knew [the announcement] was coming. But I don’t necessarily love the way [season 11] ended,” he shared with Us in December 2024, which was one month after his exit from Vanderpump Rules was announced. “It was a little heavy, a little toxic, a little fractured.”

Schwartz argued that there should have been “one more season” with him, Sandoval, Ariana, Lala, Katie Maloney, Scheana and James Kennedy before Bravo introduced a new group to take over.

“But I mean, the network made the right decision, I guess,” he continued. “And we got 11 seasons. That’s insane. I’m so grateful for that. So I have nothing to gripe or complain about. It was probably 11 of the best years of my life. I got to travel the world. And yeah, man, it was exhilarating.”

A Guide to 'VPR' Stars Appearing on Other Shows While Season 12 Is on Pause

Schwartz admitted he felt “nostalgic” and “sentimental” since news broke that he wasn’t coming back for season 12, adding, “I still talk to everyone — mostly everybody. Everyone’s thriving, everyone’s doing their thing.”

While Schwartz isn’t officially joining The Valley cast, his former VPR castmates are excited to share the screen with him again. (Jax Taylor, Kristen Doute and Brittany Cartwright became leads on The Valley after past stints on Vanderpump Rules.)

“Why not bring them in there and have them around once in awhile,” Jax, 45, told Us on Wednesday. “I don’t mind. They live in The Valley so it makes sense and they are our friends.”

Chris Rich's 'Happy's Place' Episode Had 'Reba' Nods — and a Cheating Joke

Reba Alum Chris Rich Post Stroke Health Battle in His Words

Christopher Rich‘s debut on Happy’s Place came with several nods to his days playing Brock on Reba — including a cheating joke.

During the Friday, February 21, episode of Happy’s Place, Rich, 71, made a cameo as Maverick, which reunited him with Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman two decades after they shared the screen on Reba. Rich’s debut included several Easter eggs that Rich found “so delightful” for the audience.

“I liked that they let me call [Reba’s character Bobbie] Red at one point. That’s what I called her on the show,” he exclusively told Us about Brock’s reference to Reba on the hit sitcom. “Frequently, those little things are magnificent. And Reba [the show] has such a wonderful following that people will comment about it online. It was just so wonderful to work with those two women. They took such good care of me and they were very, very protective.”

Rich’s return to acting had him playing a tattoo artist who immediately caught Gabby’s (Peterman) eye. Friday’s episode even included a line where Gabby asked Maverick whether he had a wife she could steal him away from. The significance? Peterman and Rich previously played a couple on Reba, who got together after Brock cheated on his wife Reba (McEntire).

Which 'Reba' Sitcom Alums Have Appeared on Reba McEntire's 'Happy's Place'?

The trio originally became household names when Reba aired from 2001 to 2007. The hit show followed a single mom who had to start over after her husband, Brock, left her for his dental hygienist, Barbra Jean (Peterman). Reba attempted to start fresh while raising her three kids — including her pregnant teen daughter (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) and her boyfriend (Steve Howey).

McEntire, 69, and Peterman, 53, reunited two decades later as costars on NBC’s Happy’s Place, which paved the way for them to reunite with Rich and Howey as well. Rich’s episode holds extra significance after he stepped away from acting for several years following a massive stroke.

“The crew made it feel like the old Reba set because we were having a blast. They had as much fun as I did and that was really heartwarming for me. It felt like I was back home in a safe place,” Rich shared with Us. “I was really well taken care of. It was a blessing. I want to go back so badly.”

In fact, Rich already has an idea for how he could return, adding, “I think that Maverick should come back because Gabby wants to have a baby. I make pretty children.” Rich doesn’t mind playing a new character alongside Peterman and McEntire — but the Reba nostalgia couldn’t be avoided.

‘Reba’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

“It was like coming out of the dark into the light. I almost didn’t leave the house at first when I had the stroke. I was so embarrassed and afraid people would look at me and go, ‘God, what happened to that guy?’ But you have to get over it and just let it breathe,” he noted. “That was an interesting thing about what would that be like for Brock to have had a stroke? Melissa had the funniest line. She said, ‘Well, if Brock and Barbra Jean ever get back together and he had the stroke, I can say it’s not so bad. He’s still a loving man. He always was. He doesn’t have any use of his left side — but to be honest — I never much liked what he did with his left hand anyway.'”

Rich is grateful he starred on a show that still has such a lasting impact.

“We started off with the intention of doing something real. Originally, it was just a divorce show. They didn’t even want Brock to be a regular character. He was just going to make an occasional appearance. But I lobbied as someone who came from a divorced family and had a divorce,” he continued. “I know what that’s like. There’s a lot of material there. Obviously, we found it and there’s a lot of material in that fractured family. It was very important to show what it was like for a divorced family to navigate the seas of life today.”

Happy’s Place airs on NBC Fridays at 8 p.m. ET.

Scheana Shay Addresses Rumors She Was Ruining 'VPR' Scenes by Self-Producing

Scheana Shay has seen Katie Maloney‘s comments about a Vanderpump Rules costar who self-produced their story lines — but were they about her?

During the Friday, February 21, episode of her “Scheananigans” podcast, Scheana, 39, answered a fan question about Katie’s recent filming insight, saying, “The clip was sent to me many times and Katie had said there was a girl on the show who would spoil scenes by texting their boyfriend or husband or whatever was happening versus waiting for them to find out on camera.”

Scheana admitted she wasn’t sure whether Katie, 38, was discussing her or not.

“Aside from Katie, there’s only been two girls who had boyfriends who turned into husbands on the show and that was myself and Brittany [Cartwright]. I know both of us had been guilty of that in the past,” she noted. “So I’m honestly not sure which one of us she’s talking about. I do recall when Brittany first came on to the show, [there was a] learning curve [for her] to hold reactions for cameras and all that. When anyone’s new in this industry, it is tough.”

Vanderpump Rules' Scheana Shay and Katie Maloney's Ups and Downs

Despite assuming Katie meant Brittany, 35, Scheana recalled having a similar issue, adding, “You want to tell your person everything that just happened. But you know you have a scene tomorrow morning. So why repeat it and have to reenact it? You get used to it. But it is a learning curve.”

She continued: “I know that [Brittany] would text Jax [Taylor] and tell him stuff [we filmed]. And I’ve been guilty of that — especially during season 9 with Brock [Davies]. … At the same time, though, he was filming. So you got his reaction on camera. I knew he was filming with the guys so you were still getting the story line.”

Scheana Shay Reveals Whether She Was the VPR Costar Who Ruined Scenes by Self Producing Story Lines

Earlier this month, Katie put a former Vanderpump Rules costar on blast for ruining scenes.

“There’s one girl that really made a habit of that,” Katie claimed on the February 12 episode of the “Boyfriend Material” podcast. “We would be filming it. We would be talking about her boyfriend or husband or whatever at the time. She’s texting him and telling him everything that’s happening, which is fine if that’s normally what you do. This is a very strange and specific thing that we’re doing. That was always frustrating because you’re like, ‘Why would you do that?'”

Katie accused several unnamed costars of trying to control how they were portrayed.

Biggest 'Vanderpump Rules' Feuds Ever — and Where the Relationships Stand

“Some people on the show definitely were trying to self-produce a lot. That would be frustrating because why are you acting this way?” she continued. “You’re just trying to be as authentically yourself as possible when you see somebody else trying on a new personality. People think that they can sway an audience’s opinion. You are just so f—ed if you think that you can predict what an audience is gonna think or feel.”

She concluded: “But they would think that and they would just be like, ‘Well, I’m gonna be this [person] this season.’ You want to appeal to people more, but it never works. It blows up in people’s faces every single time.”

Scheana Shay Reveals Whether She Was the VPR Costar Who Ruined Scenes by Self Producing Story Lines
Scheana Shay and Katie Maloney in ‘Vanderpump Rules.’ Casey Durkin/Bravo

Vanderpump Rules fans quickly questioned if Katie meant Scheana, which she hasn’t confirmed or denied. Scheana, meanwhile, stood by her approach to filming the hit Bravo series before she was recast along with Katie before season 12.

Every Story Line — and Feud — That Happened Between 'VPR' Seasons 11 and 12

“That’s the tricky thing about being authentic on reality TV. You’re also trying to protect people in your life who you care about but you’re trying to do your job,” Scheana continued on Friday. “And sometimes people didn’t necessarily sign up for this. Sometimes they did or they’re not getting paid the same level.”

Scheana specifically pointed out the difference between her experience and everyone else’s.

“I’ve also never had a partner on the show who’s getting paid like Katie and Tom [Schwartz], Tom [Sandoval] and Ariana [Madix], Brittany and Jax, where it is both of their jobs,” she noted. “So it’s a bit of a different position to be in for myself. Now, moving forward, if Brock and I ever do another show, I do think we’ll be on the same playing field. But people bring things up on camera — and whether it’s true or not — once it’s said, it’s out there.”

Justin Hartley Gets Help From Newcomer Chris Lee During His 'Tracker' Debut

Tracker’s next action-packed episode shows Justin Hartley‘s Colter getting assistance from a surprising — yet familiar — ally.

In Us Weekly‘s exclusive clip from the Sunday, February 23, episode of the hit CBS series, Colter calls Bobby (Eric Graise) for some hacking help but that isn’t who picks up the phone. Instead, viewers are introduced to Bobby’s cousin Randy (Chris Lee).

“I remember you. You helped me with that case where you hacked into the police server,” Colter tells Randy, who adds, “Some of my best work. Bobby is dealing with some family stuff but he wanted to make sure he didn’t leave you hanging.”

Randy assures Colter that he is in good hands. “And for the record, I am the one who showed him how to jailbreak his phone so you are all good,” Randy says before getting distracted by some gummy bears on Bobby’s desk. “That was so good.”

'Tracker' Season 2 Trailer Shows Justin Hartley, Wife Sofia Pernas' Reunion

In response, Colter jokes that “those things will kill you,” to which Randy replies, “Not today and not tomorrow. But in the meantime, bring it on.”

The sneak peek offers some details about Colter’s case, which includes a man who “killed some folks and snatched a girl.” The official synopsis for the episode teased Colter’s search for a missing singer linked to a violent crime, leading him to a stoic survivalist who reminds him a lot of himself.

Lee’s appearance as Randy comes after Floriana Lima‘s season 2 arc wrapped up once Colter solved his white whale case. Viewers also had to say goodbye to Teddi after Robin Weigert didn’t return as a series regular for season 2. Weigert mostly shared the screen with Abby McEnany’s Velma as they helped Hartley’s character solve various missing cases.

Tracker follows survivalist Colter as he travels the country to help find missing people, track down information on criminal cases and more. The procedural aspect of the show has allowed Tracker to introduce some star-studded cameos from actors such as Jensen Ackles, Melissa Roxburgh and even Hartley’s wife, Sofia Pernas.

“We have a whole other season to shoot that we have to make better than season 1. So while we wanted all those story lines wrapped up, we also wanted those bows to sort of lead to other questions — bigger, deeper questions — about his past,” Hartley, 48, shared with Deadline in May 2024 about the season 2 vision. “So I think we did that in answering some of these questions that we had built up all year. I think we did a good job of making sure that the answers to those questions then lead to a bigger mystery, something that we can unpack in season 2.”

Most Iconic Guest Stars Featured on Justin Hartley's 'Tracker' Series

Tracker, which has already been renewed for a third season, also has some familiar faces behind the camera. Sunday’s episode once again reunited Hartley with his This Is Us costar Jon Huertas, who has directed multiple episodes of Tracker.

“There have been some conversations about me coming back to direct for sure. Justin has talked to me about being in front of the camera on the show at some point. But we’ll see,” Huertas, 55, exclusively told Us in April 2024. “I’m going to be directing a lot this year so it’s all about figuring out if I can fit an acting gig in there. We’ll see about the in front of the camera thing but I’ll definitely be back to direct a few episodes this year.”

Huertas was thrilled about spending time with Hartley, adding, “Because Justin and I had this history together, it was like we just fell in lockstep again from when I directed him on This Is Us [and] when we worked together in scenes as stepfather and stepson. We fell into that rhythm so naturally that it was easy. It made it really easy.”

Tracker airs on CBS Sundays at 8 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Paramount+.

Did Netflix's Gabby Petito Doc Reach Out to Brian Laundrie's Family Members?

Did Netflix Reach Out to Brian Laundrie Family About Their Gabby Petito Documentary
Courtesy of Gabby Petito/Instagram

Brian Laundrie‘s family has slammed the Netflix’s documentary about his involvement in Gabby Petito‘s murder — but were his loved ones contacted before the special was released?

“We did reach out to his family. It’s hard to open up about this [topic] for that side of the family. So we made best efforts to reach out to them,” American Murder: Gabby Petito filmmakers Julia Willoughby Nason and Michael Gasparro exclusively told Us Weekly about trying to get in contact with Brian’s parents.

Gasparro noted that they didn’t want to pressure Roberta Laundrie and Christopher Laundrie, adding, “We reached out to the family, to their lawyer and to Brian’s sister. But we respected the fact that they didn’t want to participate and that’s it.”

Roberta and Christopher’s attorney Steven Bertolino shared a statement after the doc was released on Tuesday, February 18.

Where Is Brian Laundrie's Family After Gabby Petito's Murder and His Death?

“One perspective depicted as the ‘truth’ as seen through their lens,” Bertolino said about American Murder: Gabby Petito. “Each side believes their perspective is correct. Hard to see through the lens of the other with all the noise and distrust.”

The lawyer did not specify which details from the documentary were allegedly inaccurate but clarified that “there were no contradictions” made by Roberta and Christopher. (Netflix and Stage 29 Productions have not publicly addressed the response from Roberta and Christopher.)

“The documentary contained many inaccuracies, incorrect juxtapositions of timelines, and misstatements and omissions of fact — perhaps deliberate to capture their ‘truth,’ perhaps due to simple error,” the statement continued. “We all know Brian took Gabby’s life and Brian then took his own as well. Let the parents of both Gabby and Brian mourn them in peace.”

American Murder: Gabby Petito explored Petito and Brian’s tumultuous relationship leading up to their infamous cross country trip. The engaged couple documented their 2021 getaway for Petito’s YouTube channel but she ultimately didn’t return home.

Brian was discovered at his parents’ home in September 2021 amid Petito’s disappearance. He was reported missing more than a week later after Petito was found dead. A high-profile search for Brian ended in October 2021 when his remains were found in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.

Based on entries from Brian’s journals, the FBI determined in January 2022 that he was responsible for Petito’s murder. Petito’s parents subsequently filed a civil lawsuit against Brian’s mother and father for allegedly knowing about Petito’s murder and the location of her deceased body.

A judge ruled in favor of Petito’s family in the wrongful death lawsuit in late 2022, awarding $3 million to Petito’s mother as the administrator of her daughter’s estate.

“Christopher and Roberta Laundrie and I participated in mediation with the Petito family and the civil lawsuit has now been resolved. The terms of the resolution are confidential, and we look forward to putting this matter behind us,” read a statement read from the Laundrie family’s attorney at the time.

The Petito family released their own statement in which they expressed that “all parties reluctantly agreed in order to avoid further legal expenses and prolonged personal conflict. Our hope is to close this chapter of our lives to allow us to move on and continue to honor the legacy of our beautiful daughter, Gabby.”

Petito’s mother, Nicole Schmidt, has since said she forgave Brian for her daughter’s death — but not Roberta.

“I speak for myself here when I say Brian, I forgive you,” Schmidt said at CrimeCon in May 2024. “I needed to release myself from the chains of anger and bitterness. And I refuse to let your despicable act define the rest of my life.”

Schmidt alleged that Brian’s parents were “complicit in his cowardly flight from justice” and said their actions “have added salt” to her wounds.

“As for you, Roberta — and I call you out individually because you are evidently the mastermind that shattered your family and mind with your evil ways — I see no empathy in your eyes, no remorse in your heart and no willingness to take responsibility for your actions,” Schmidt continued. “You are the dark. You are the sociopath that everyone fears. The one who appears so innocent and kind, but harbors darkness within your soul. You do not deserve forgiveness. You deserve to be forgotten and dehumanized. You epitomize pure evil.”

Christopher, for his part, denied any knowledge of Gabby’s whereabouts before her body was found.

“He needed help and to get an attorney,” Christopher recalled while speaking under oath for the civil lawsuit, according to WPTV and WFLA. “And I told him, ‘Yeah, I’ll help you. I’ll call Steven Bertolino, and just stay put.’ And then I asked him again, and he just said, ‘Just help me.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I’m going to, so stay calm. Stay put.’ And he hung up.”

Grosse Pointe Garden Society brings color to murder mysteries with a fresh new approach.

With a garden serving as the backdrop for an intricate murder mystery, Grosse Pointe Garden Society is based on the affluent Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, where four friends try to hide after finding themselves responsible for a shocking death. Melissa Fumero, Aja Naomi King, Ben Rappaport, AnnaSophia Robb, Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis and Felix Wolfe make up the show’s cast.

“Throughout the episodes, we go through different parallel timelines. We jump back and forth between timelines,” Rappaport, who plays Brett, teased to Us Weekly in February 2025. “So you’re like, ‘Wow, how did we end up here?’ Then throughout the season, those timelines begin to converge.”

The actor praised creators Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs for bringing the series to life, adding, “It is remarkable how they have woven this thing together. The rollercoaster ride they’ve taken us on is absolutely incredible every day. Every couple of weeks, we would get the new scripts and react like, ‘Oh my God, what happens next?’ And we’re just dying for the next one.”

In the official trailer, which Us Weekly exclusively debuted in February 2025, an unlikely friend group tried to cover their tracks after killing someone.

“I can’t believe we are burying a body,” Fumero’s character, Birdie, said before confessing to Officer Joel (Davis) that she and her friends “sort of murdered someone.”

Robb’s Alice set the scene for the crime in a voiceover. “People are like the flowers they plant. Some flowers are wild and without boundaries,” she noted. “We all may look perfect on the surface.”

More footage introduced a reason why each person could have killed someone. Alice realized that one of her students “threatened” her while Birdie questioned whether people in her life “hate” her. King’s character called her life a “mess” after cheating on her husband. While Rappaport questioned why his ex left him for another man.

“People always think they can get away with it,” Birdie added. “Maybe they shouldn’t.”

“As a cast we just found out very recently [who was killed]. That information we are sworn to secrecy over,” Rappaport teased to Us. “But for a long time we did not know. That’s part of what was so fun about the twists and turns. Just like the audience, they really kept us guessing.”

“One of the main through lines of this whole series is the secret,” Rappaport continued. “That’s the thing that binds this group together. First of all, it’s a fish out of water story where these are real-life people living these normal — maybe even mundane suburban lives — that get caught in this extraordinary circumstance.”

He added: “None of them have ever been through anything like this before. So this secret at the center of it is the thing that bonds them together in a really, really, really deep way. Anything that can throw a monkey wrench into that is going to cause high anxiety.”

Actors Who Want to Star in Taylor Sheridan's TV Universe

Taylor Sheridan has made Yellowstone fans out of many celebrities — some of whom are even interested in working with him.

Sheridan got his start as an actor before moving on to writing scripts for movies including Sicario, Hell or High Water and Wind River. His focus later shifted to the small screen, which is how Yellowstone was born. The hit series aired from 2018 to 2024 as viewers tuned in to keep tabs on the fictional Dutton family.

The prolific producer didn’t stop there, though. Sheridan expanded his universe with spinoffs such as 1883 and 1923 — in addition to original shows Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness and Tulsa King.

“Because Paramount trusts me and gives me the time to go shoot 10 to 14 days for a television episode, we can treat it like a movie, and it looks like a movie,” Sheridan told Deadline in January 2022. “We can take the time to rehearse it and light it and build these set pieces. And if I call them and say, ‘I need two helicopters in one day,’ they just go, ‘Alright.’”

He added: “At the end of the day, to go to some of these locations where most people have never been, where you’re opening up a new world, and all of these places or characters in the story, to me, it’s fascinating.”

Sheridan’s commitment to authentic and gritty storytelling scored him major A-list actors who starred in his projects, from Kevin Costner and Harrison Ford to Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore.

But who else wants the chance to work with Sheridan? Blue Bloods alum Tom Selleck and Reba‘s Christopher Rich are just a few of the actors throwing their hats into the ring for future roles — keep scrolling for more examples of Sheridan’s celebrity fans.

“A good Western’s always on my list,” Selleck told Parade in December 2024 as Blue Bloods ended its 14-season run. “I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again.”

Selleck specifically showed support for pal Sam Elliott, saying, “Sam was great in [1883]. Sam’s always great. We go way, way back. I love him dearly. I’d love to work with Sam.”

Christopher Rich

“I’d like to get back and do some drama,” Rich told Us in February 2025 while reflecting on how his career has changed since suffering a “massive” stroke that left his entire left side paralyzed. “I’d really love to work with Taylor Sheridan. He builds characters. I would actually be great on Landman. I am from Texas. I’ve spent some time in Midland with the oil boys — and to have a damaged oil worker is nothing unusual at all.”

During season 4 of The Kardashians, which aired in September 2023, Kris Jenner recalled her boyfriend’s unexpected connection to Yellowstone.

“I am so excited to watch the next episode of Yellowstone,” she told Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian. “So they asked Corey to be on Yellowstone. And he said no. I told him to say no. I thought he was going to have a romantic relationship.”

Gamble noted that he would have said yes to the opportunity, adding, “If it wasn’t for you, I would be a Yellowstone star.”

Would Kat Graham Reunite With 'TVD' Costar Paul Wesley on His Vampire Show?

Paul Wesley is returning to his roots with a new vampire show — but would his former The Vampire Diaries costar Kat Graham be interested in making an appearance?

“I did not know this was happening. When did he do this?” Graham, 35, asked while speaking exclusively to Us Weekly at the 16th Annual AAFCA Awards on Wednesday, February 19.

Despite not having a full breakdown of Wesley’s new project, Graham didn’t rule out a reunion, adding, “I would return to the world of witches. They are getting tired of these vampires. I would definitely return to the world of witches.”

Graham wouldn’t mind returning to the supernatural realm — as long as it isn’t a rehashing of their time on The CW show. “I don’t know about the same situation, but I love a powerful Black girl with extra powers,” she added. “Give me a few of them women and we will talk.”

‘Vampire Diaries’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

The actress became a household name after playing teen witch Bonnie on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries, which ran from 2009 to 2017. Wesley, 42, for his part, brought the role of heartthrob and immortal vampire Stefan to life alongside Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder as Elena and Damon, respectively.

Deadline reported last month that Wesley is an executive producer on an untitled Fox comedy about a determined 25-year-old vampire who struggles with running the family business for his murderous and suffocating vampire parents while trying to chase his dream to become an actor. The series, which has yet to be officially picked up, is written by Unstable cocreator Victor Fresco and directed by The Rookie‘s Liz Friedlander.

While fans wait for more updates on Wesley’s passion project, Graham is celebrating her role in Tyler Perry‘s Duplicity.

“I’m trying not to give any spoilers. But it’s a thriller, and it really keeps you guessing. Nothing is as it seems,” she teased to Us on Wednesday. “What you think you’re watching, it just keeps you guessing. But it’s also grounded in the storytelling that we’ve seen based on situations that are happening in America.”

Projects That Reunited ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Cast, Crew After the Show Ended

Graham has been “dying to tell” everyone about her experience collaborating with Perry, saying, “I have idolized this man! I have his plays on DVD and I have been living in the Tyler Perry world as a fan very consistently. I feel like I have been a fan forever and it always felt like a far away dream that I get to work with him.”

She continued: “This is somebody who isn’t just an icon. He is somebody who created something out of his own mind. He was just able to conquer and do things that no one else has been able to do. So in a hundred years from now, people will be talking about this man. The fact that I’m not only a part of this film, but I am starring in it, on top of all this, it is mind-blowing to me.”

Matthew Broderick Jokes About Felicity Huffman's College Admissions Scandal

Matthew Broderick Jokes on Elsbeth About Felicity Huffman's College Admissions Scandal Involvement
CBS/Getty Images

CBS’ Elsbeth used Matthew Broderick‘s character as a setup for a joke about Felicity Huffman‘s involvement in the college admissions scandal.

During the Thursday, February 20, episode, Broderick, 62, played an educational consultant named Lawrence, who promises an Ivy League future to high-paying clients with help from an assistant — played by the actor’s real-life son James Wilkie Broderick.

“Schools are cracking down. They are trying to be more meritocratic. Gone are the days when a simple 10 million donation guaranteed you a spot freshman year,” Lawrence told parents about their child’s future in the opening scene. “In the current climate, outmatch educational consulting is a real bargain. You don’t want to start too late then panic senior year and end up sharing a prison cell with a Desperate Housewife.”

The shady line referenced Huffman’s role as Lynette on Desperate Housewives, which aired on ABC from 2004 to 2012. Huffman, 62, made headlines when she was arrested at gunpoint by FBI agents in 2019 for her involvement in the infamous college admissions scandal, which was dubbed Operation Varsity Blues.

College Admissions Scandal: Where Are They Now?

The actress paid $15,000 to falsify the results of her daughter Sophia’s SAT scores, and was one of 50 people charged for the crimes. Following her arrest, Huffman pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. She served 11 days in prison in October 2019, paid a $30,000 fine and completed 250 hours of community service for her crimes.

Huffman’s husband, William H. Macy, with whom she shares daughters Sophia, now 24, and Georgia, now 22, was never charged in connection with the case. She broke her silence in December 2023 when she reflected on the “undying shame” she felt following her involvement in the scandal.

“It felt like I had to give my daughter a chance at a future,” Huffman told ABC-7 Eyewitness News about the drama. “And so it was sort of like my daughter’s future, which meant I had to break the law.”

Huffman thought she was a “bad mother” if she didn’t help her daughter, adding, “She was going, ‘Can we get ice cream afterwards? I’m scared about the test. What can we do that’s fun?’ And I kept thinking, ‘Turn around, just turn around.’ And to my undying shame, I didn’t.”

She continued: “I thought it was a hoax [when I was getting arrested]. I literally turned to one of the FBI people, in a flak jacket and a gun, and I went, ‘Is this a joke?’”

Ethan Slater Is Playing a Cop on Carrie Preston's CBS Show 'Elsbeth'

More recently, Huffman reflected on how her life has changed in the years since the drama. “It’s been hard. Sort of like your old life died and you died with it,” she explained to The Guardian in February 2024. “I’m lucky enough to have a family and love and means, so I had a place to land.”

Huffman expressed gratitude to her family for standing by her.

“I walk into the room with it. I did it. It’s black and white,” she said. “[But] as long as my kids are well and my husband is well, I feel like I’m well.”

Elsbeth airs on CBS Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Paramount+.

The Pitt's Taylor Shuts Down Potential Mel, Langdon Romance: 'She's Asexual'

The Pitt fans shouldn’t expect a romance between Mel and Langdon — despite that onscreen chemistry.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Taylor Dearden reacted to the surprising response to her scenes with Patrick Ball on the Max series, saying, “I think Mel is asexual. I don’t think that’s part of how Mel would think — especially at work. She’s a hyper professional.”

Dearden, 32, wasn’t expecting for Mel and Langdon’s friendship to be perceived as something more.

“I didn’t know people were thinking that. That’s really funny,” she shared. “The funny thing is Patrick is always like, ‘God, you remind me of my sister.'”

ER's Noah Wyle Returns to Medical Dramas With ‘The Pitt’: Everything to Know

The Pitt introduced Us to Mel, Langdon and more staff of a hospital’s emergency department when the medical drama premiered in January. While working a grueling 15-hour shift, Mel found a mentor in Langdon, which inspired some viewers to question where their bond could go from here.

Dearden’s portrayal of Mel has also sparked conversation about representation as viewers who identify as autistic have felt seen by the character. (The Pitt hasn’t confirmed yet whether Mel is autistic.)

“I have ADHD and they’re on the same spectrum now, so it was kind of me playing a less masked version of the things I already have to go through and just pumping up the anxiety for Mel,” Dearden explained. “But they’ve never really shown the range of the spectrum [on screen] and what every area could look like or what every part of it could look like.”

The actress continued: “I’m really glad it’s landing well. But I also am really glad I get to do something that’s close to my heart — or more technically to my brain.”

In addition to Dearden and Ball, The Pitt also stars Noah Wyle, Isa Briones, Tracy Ifeachor, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Gerran Howell and Shabana Azeez. The entire group went through medical bootcamp to prepare to play doctors on screen.

TV Stars Who Disliked a Potential Romance for Their Character

“It was all about getting through most of the procedures that we would have to do in an emergency room that aren’t easy to learn on the day, which was really fun. It was tough,” Dearden recalled. “We were all scared, but it has carried over and it’s become more and more comfortable for all of us.”

Dearden has even found herself giving medical tips, adding, “For example, my mom was a pedestrian recently and got hit by a car. She had to have surgery and I looked at the sutures and I went, ‘That is a terrible suturing job. This is just awful. I should have done that. They should have called me.’ And I would never, ever think that before.”

While the entire cast picked up certain skills, they couldn’t compare to Wyle, 53, who previously starred as Dr. John Carter on HBO’s ER. “It was definitely us kind of in awe going, ‘Why can’t we make it look that easy?'” Dearden quipped. “But I think that’s just a learning thing because by the end, we were hopefully much better.”

What Noah Wyle Said About How 'The Pitt' Medical Drama Differs From 'ER'

Max renewed The Pitt for a second season before the first is set to end this spring. As a result, fans have asked whether new episodes would follow the same setup of portraying a single hour of an ER shift.

“As we were shooting, we asked [the executive producers] and they were like, ‘We have no idea what we’re going to do yet.’ They are very good at what they do,” Dearden noted. “We have no information, but it would be interesting — even if it’s just a month later — to see that. Or even the next day. I don’t think it’s going to pick up right there. I doubt it. It’s going to be fun to see if we can play with change a little bit.”

New episodes of The Pitt premiere on Max every Thursday.

Leighton Meester is officially joining husband Adam Brody‘s newest show Nobody Wants This.

Variety reported on Thursday, February 20, that Meester, 38, will play Abby on the Netflix rom-com, who is described as “Joanne’s [Kristen Bell] middle school nemesis who is now an Instagram mommy influencer.”

Meester previously weighed in on a possible cameo, telling TVLine on Wednesday, “Oh, that would be really fun. I’m a big fan. So, yeah, that would be awesome.”

When asked about her favorite scenes from Nobody Wants This, Meester added, “Honestly, all of it’s pretty good. I liked watching all the basketball stuff. I thought that was pretty funny. … “Like I said, whenever I watch him onscreen, I just forget it’s him, really, and this show is no exception.”

She continued: “I just am a huge fan of the show and of his work, and so, I, like most of the audience, was really rooting for the two of them, and I loved how deeply developed both the characters were and how they got to be these imperfect people, finding each other.”

Meester had endless praise for Brody, 45, as an actor and her life partner.

“He’s my favorite actor, and he’s my favorite person. So the two of those things just make for a wonderful day at work,” she shared. “I get to be with my best friend, who I love and look up to. I always forget that I’m watching him when I am, and whenever I work with him, it feels very secondhand, and there’s so much love and trust. So I’m just grateful every time I get to be on set with him.”

Meester and Brody started dating after they reconnected on the set of 2011’s The Oranges. Since taking their relationship public, they have appeared together on Single Parents, River Wild and an upcoming episode of Meester’s new CW show Good Cop/Bad Cop.

“In one of the episodes, he comes in as a very quirky, odd duck, and he’s a doctor who has become a vet,” she teased to TVLine. “Don’t ask me to make it make total sense, but that’s kind of the fun of the show. He helps us, maybe unintentionally, to solve a crime, and we get to interview him and track him down.”

Us Weekly broke the news in 2013 that Meester and Brody were officially dating and they tied the knot one year later.

“My wife and I actually got married very fast after we started dating. That’s how sort of easy a decision it was for me and us,” Brody said on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show during a March 2023 interview. “I was never scared of the idea of marriage or kids. It always seemed like a route I would go [down] eventually, and I was excited to when it came together [and] when I met the right person.”

Celebrity Couples Who Prove That Love Isn’t Dead

Brody said he knew he was interested in Meester right away even though she needed a few “years” to see him in the same light, saying on an April 2023 episode of the “Popcrushed” podcast, “She remained elusive to me for so long, you know, and aloof. I couldn’t get a total read because even though she professe[d] to have been interested in me and all those things — not only did she not pursue that, I mean, she was perfectly willing to let that never happen.”

He joked: “She was perfectly willing to let that message in the bottle return to sea at several points. [Leighton] says, ‘Oh, it’s because I knew if we did [date] it would be a thing.’ Or, like, ‘It’s too powerful.’”

Meester, who shares daughter Arlo, 9, and a son, 4, with Brody, previously spoke with Us about sustaining a healthy and happy marriage.

“I don’t think there’s any kind of secret. I think it’s individual,” she shared in December 2023. “In our case, I think we get along. We like each other a lot.”

Alec Baldwin's Wife Hilaria Baldwin Addresses Fake Accent Controversy

Hilaria Baldwin brought up her fake accent controversy after husband Alec Baldwin said he “can’t understand” some of what she says.

During the first episode of TLC’s The Baldwins, which premieres on Sunday, February 23, Alec, 66, and Hilaria, 41, have a conversation about prenups.

“After my first marriage I said, ‘Let’s have a prenup,'” Alec, who was married to Kim Basinger from 1993 to 2002, said. “It was an awkward thing.”

Hilaria admitted that she didn’t fully grasp “what a prenup is,” adding, “Because you are like, ‘After a certain number of kids it is this.’ And I was like, ‘You know what? I will just sign it.’ Which was probably very stupid of me back then. Now, I would read it again. I just said, ‘I won’t sign it. I don’t really want to think about the end by the beginning.’ And then you were like, ‘I don’t want to do it either.'”

Alec Baldwin Says Life Changed in a 'Big Way' When He Met Hilaria

Before Hilaria could continue speaking, Alec asked her to pause.

“Let’s talk slower. You are speaking English in a Spanish cadence which is always perilous for me,” he noted. “Just slow down a kiss, I can’t understand you.”

Hilaria used the opportunity to address past drama about her accent. “I’m raising my kids to be bilingual, I was raised bilingual,” she explained in a confessional. “My family — all my nuclear family — now lives over in Spain. I want to teach my kids pride in speaking more than one language. I think just growing up and speaking two languages is extremely special.”

While discussing her decision to speak to her kids in Spanish, Hilaria clapped back at critics who made her feel bad for embracing her identity, saying, “I love English, I also love Spanish, and when I mix the two it doesn’t make me inauthentic, and when I mix the two, that makes me normal. I’d be lying if I said [the drama] didn’t make me sad and it didn’t hurt and it didn’t put me in dark places.”

Hilaria, who shares seven kids with Alec, made headlines for her accent in December 2020 when social media users accused her of fabricating her comments about her Spanish heritage since she was born as Hilary in Boston, Massachusetts.

Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin's Sweetest Moments With Their Kids

“But it was my family, my friends, my community who speak multiple languages, who have belonged in multiple places and realize that we are a mix of all these different things and that’s going to have an impact on how we sound and an impact on how we articulate things and the words that we choose and our mannerisms,” she continued on the TLC series. “That’s normal. That’s called being human.”

At the time of the initial controversy, Hilaria released a video addressing her relationship with her Spanish roots.

“I’ve seen chatter online questioning my identity and culture. This is something I take very seriously, and for those who are asking — I’ll reiterate my story, as I’ve done many times before,” she captioned an Instagram post alongside a since-deleted video. “I was born in Boston and grew up spending time with my family between Massachusetts and Spain. My parents and sibling live in Spain and I chose to live here, in the U.S.A.”

Not Just Hilaria! Celebs Who Have Been Accused of Faking Accents

Hilaria offered more details in a February 2021 statement, writing, “I’ve spent the last month listening, reflecting, and asking myself how I can learn and grow. My parents raised my brother and me with two cultures, American and Spanish, and I feel a true sense of belonging to both. The way I’ve spoken about myself and my deep connection to two cultures could have been better explained — I should have been more clear and I’m sorry.”

She continued: “I’m proud of the way I was raised, and we’re raising our children to share the same love and respect for both. Being vulnerable and pushing ourselves to learn and grow is what we’ve built our community on, and I hope to get back to the supportive and kind environment we’ve built together.”

The Baldwins airs on TLC Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.

Inside the Menendez Brothers' Lives in Prison: Restrictions, No Conjugal Visits

Breaking Down What Erik and Lyle Mendendez s Lives Look Like in Prison Restrictions Extracurriculars and More
Getty Images (2)

Erik Menéndez and Lyle Menéndez could have their life sentence reduced in their murder case — but what do their lives currently look like in prison?

The brothers were arrested in 1990 on two counts of first-degree murder after their parents — José and Kitty — were found shot to death in their home. Lyle was 21 and Erik was 18 at the time of the murders and after two trials, they were sentenced to life without parole. Lyle and Erik have maintained that their mother and father were physically, emotionally and sexually abusive ahead of their deaths.

While initially remaining in the same prison, Erik and Lyle were transferred after their sentencing. They reunited in 2018 when they were moved into the same housing unit at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility.

Their case received renewed support in September 2024 after becoming the focus of Ryan Murphy‘s Monsters series. Despite Erik publicly slamming the scripted show, he met with Cooper Koch, who played him on screen.

What Else to Watch About Erik, Lyle Menendez's Murder Case After 'Monsters'

“They’ve done so much amazing work in prison. Erik teaches meditation. He teaches speech classes. They’re both incredible people,” Koch told The Hollywood Reporter in September 2024. “I think back then, people just didn’t believe that sexual abuse between males was something that you could believe and the easier pill to swallow was that they killed their parents for money. But now, after so much time, I think people are more open to understanding that something like that did happen.”

Koch added: “In fact, the warden told me himself that he feels like he’d be happy to have them as his neighbors and that he would be comfortable letting them watch his children. I think that says a lot!”

With support from Koch — and reality-star-turned-prison-reform-activist Kim Kardashian — Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón announced in October 2024 that a hearing has been set due to new evidence. That same month, Gascón recommended that a judge resentence Erik and Lyle.

Erik reflected on his adjustment to life behind bars, telling People in 2005, “The cell I live in is tiny … about 6′ by 4′. Two people live in the cell. The cell is so small that only one person can be up off the bunks at a time. There is a commode and a sink.”

It was hard for him to adjust to the “violent noises” in prison.

“It is very difficult to live with. It always affects you. And you have to keep to your own business,” he noted. “There might be 300 to 400 people in the yard at a time and at any moment a fight could break out. In the past month, two inmates have been murdered. You have to stay away from the yard bullies.”

Erik revealed he was bullied when he was initially sentenced.

“I was picked on for being bullied violently and it was traumatic and continual. There’s a thing that a lot of inmates in prison go through when they’re not part of a gang structure. They come in and they’re basically a lone wolf. They just have to be by themselves,” he detailed on the “2 Angry Men” podcast in February 2025. “Prison can be hard, and there’s a lot of suffering here. So I was like, ‘I’m not going to fight back. I’m not going to engage.’ I had no one to really turn to for help since I was separated from Lyle.”

Erik continued: “I remember the day that I was told Lyle just got assaulted and got his jaw broken. … It was difficult and that’s why it took years to work out of it because you have to find yourself in prison. I believe that Corrections is doing their best. They’re really trying. But 25 years ago, it was an even darker and more dangerous place.”

In a statement to Biography.com in September 2024, the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation offered an update on Erik and Lyle’s behavior, writing, “During his incarceration, Erik Menendez has incurred two serious rules violations. Joseph [Lyle] Menendez has incurred no rules violations.”

Erik and Lyle’s good behavior paved the way for them to live in a “non-designated programming facility” at Donovan. The unit is known as Echo Yard, which allows inmates more freedom, rehabilitative and educational programming. Those opportunities include yoga, art classes and more.

In a rare interview, Erik gave an example of his day-to-day schedule, telling People in 2005 again, “I get up at 6 a.m. At 6:20 I have breakfast. I meditate at 6:50. Starting at 7:30 I read and write in my journal. We’ll either have a morning yard time starting at 9:30 or an afternoon yard time starting at 2:00 p.m. At two o’clock I start my job. I will try and call [wife] Tammi [Menéndez] in the afternoon. I’ll then work until 8:00 p.m. At 9:00 p.m. we’re locked down. I generally go to sleep around 10:30 p.m.”

Rules for Contacting Loved Ones

The brothers are categorized as Group A prisoners, which allows them most privileges that come with receiving visits and to make calls. Laws have been passed in recent years that made telephone calls free for inmates and their families.

In 2021, California started to provide prisoners with tablets. It took two years for Donovan inmates to take advantage of the opportunity and it is important to note that the devices don’t have access to social media or internet browsers. The tablets are largely used to read news materials and stay in contact with loved ones through email, video calls and text messages.

Erik and Lyle also relied on technology to keep up to date on their cast, sharing on a podcast in 2025, “We were able to see quite a bit of it. I watched some of it through video chat that they allow us to do here. And obviously, we’ve seen a million clips of it on TV and heard a lot about it. We feel like we’ve seen the entire thing. But we have not yet.”

Potential Extracurriculars

Echo Yard is considered an experimental part of the prison that is less restrictive. The unit operates outside of “normal prison rules,” according to reporting from the San Diego Union-Tribune. Echo Yard allows inmates to take part in creative programs, education and support groups for people with anger management or substance abuse issues.

The prisoners can take courses such as victim awareness, money management and job hunting strategies. There is a yoga program, which allows prisons to earn a 10-day reduction in their sentence for every 52 hours of program participation. Rehabilitative Achievement Credits could offer inmates as much as 40 days taken off their sentences annually.

Donovan has a prisoner-published monthly newspaper and art classes as well. Lyle and Erik have notably taken advantage of Project Paint when they helped paint a 1,000-foot long mural at Echo Yard in 2020.

Elsewhere at Echo Yard, inmates can help raise service dogs and future guide dogs. Donovan also held a graduation ceremony for the first time in 2024 after nearly two dozen inmates received degrees through Inspiring Futures Through Educational Degrees.

Erik has been married to wife Tammi since 1999 after they met via letter correspondences. Lyle, meanwhile, exchanged vows with Anna Eriksson in 1996 but they divorced five years later. He later found love with Rebecca Sneed and they got married in 2003.

Prisons in California permit conjugal visits but prisons serving life sentences without parole are banned from such privileges. The law was changed in 2016 but since Erik and Lyle committed a violent offense against a family member, they still aren’t eligible for the family visits.

“Not having sex in my life is difficult, but it’s not a problem for me. I have to be emotionally attached, and I’m emotionally attached to Erik,” Tammi told People in 2005. “My family does not understand. When it started to get serious, some of them just threw up their hands.”

Lyle also offered a glimpse into this marriage to Rebecca, telling the outlet in 2017, “Our interaction tends to be very free of distractions and we probably have more intimate conversations than most married spouses do, who are distracted by life’s events.”

He concluded: “We try and talk on the phone every day, sometimes several times a day. I have a very steady, involved marriage and that helps sustain me and brings a lot of peace and joy. It’s a counter to the unpredictable, very stressful environment here.”

Erik Menéndez‘s prison life sentence didn’t stop him from finding love with wife Tammi Menéndez.

Erik and his brother, Lyle Menéndez, were arrested in 1990 on two counts of first-degree murder after their parents — José and Kitty — were found shot to death in their home in August 1989. Two trials resulted in Erik and Lyle being sentenced to life without parole. Both have maintained that their mother and father were physically, emotionally and sexually abusive.

After the trial, Erik’s sexual orientation became a topic of conversation.

“No [I am not gay]. The prosecutor brought that up because I was sexually molested and he felt in his own thinking that if I was sodomized by my father that I must have enjoyed it and therefore I must be gay,” Erik said in a tell-all with Barbara Walters from 1996. “And people that are gay out there must be sexually molested or they wouldn’t be. It was upsetting to hear, but I am not gay. But a lot of gay people write and feel connected to me.”

Tammi first reached out to Erik via mail in 1993, when he was in prison but not yet sentenced. At the time, she was still married to Chuck Saccoman. Her connection with Erik took a turn after Saccoman’s death in 1996 which led to a year 1999 wedding ceremony in prison. Tammi was later asked whether she was initially “troubled” by Erik being responsible for his parents’ death.

“I know his soul, and I do know what happened that night,” she told NBC News in 2005. “And I do understand. I believe that within everybody put in certain circumstances, you will, you know, be able to kill somebody. I mean, I do believe that Erik is a very good person.”

That same year, Tammi explained why she wasn’t bothered by the lack of conjugal visits. (Prisons in California permit conjugal visits, but prisoners serving life sentences without parole are banned from such privileges. The law was changed in 2016 but since Erik and Lyle committed a violent offense against a family member, they still aren’t eligible for the family visits.)

“Not having sex in my life is difficult, but it’s not a problem for me. I have to be physically detached, and I’m emotionally attached to Erik,” she explained to People in 2005 while Erik added in a separate interview with the outlet, “It’s not the sex you seek, but the emotional connection. There is no makeup sex, only a 15-minute phone call, so you really have to try to make things work.”

Erik’s brother, Lyle, also found The One while incarcerated. After his arrest, Lyle met Anna Eriksson through mail correspondence and they exchanged vows in 1996 in a wedding attended by his attorney Leslie Abramson and his aunt Marta Menéndez. Lyle and Anna called it quits in 2001 and he has been married to Rebecca Sneed since 2003.

Both Menéndez siblings now have a chance to reunite with their wives after the Los Angeles District Attorney recommended in October 2024 that a judge resentence Erik and Lyle to 50 years.

Before Erik was sentenced in his high-profile murder case, he connected with Tammi when she wrote him a letter in prison. Tammi was still married to Chuck at the time and was living with him and her teenage daughter from a prior relationship when she started to follow the Menéndez trial.

“I told [Chuck] that I was going to write to Erik,” Tammi recalled to People in 2005. “He said to go ahead. I really didn’t know if Erik would write back.”

As for Erik, he told the outlet that fate made him open Tammi’s letter, adding, “I saw Tammi’s letter and I felt something. I received thousands of letters, but I set this one aside. I got a feeling. And I wrote her back. Tammi and I continued to correspond. I enjoyed writing to her. It was a slow friendship. It was special to me because it was not associated with the trial and the media. Tammi was someone not in the craziness.”

Three years into her correspondence with Erik, Tammi found out that Chuck allegedly started to rape her teenage daughter when she was 15 years old. Chuck, who shared a then-9-month-old daughter Talia with Tammi, turned himself into the police and died by suicide two days later.

“I reached out to Erik. He comforted me,” Tammi told People. “Our letters started taking on a more serious tone.”

Erik and Tammi met in-person after he was convicted of first-degree murder. Tammi recalled being “really nervous” to visit Erik in prison.

“I’d only sent him a tiny, 1-by-1 [inch] picture,” she recalled to People. “But when he walked into the room, he was so full of life, he hopped down the stairs. It was like I was meeting an old friend.”

Erik called his first meeting Tammi the “most beautiful experience” of his life.

Tammi’s original plan was to move to Georgia, but after connecting with Erik she found a home much closer to his prison, in Sacramento. She visited him four times a week and in 1998 Erik proposed to Tammi when he was 27 and she was 36. The pair subsequently had a prison wedding with a Twinkie that served as their wedding cake.

Erik’s prison transfer from Folsom Prison to Pleasant Valley State Prison made Tammi and Talia have to drive 150 miles every week to visit him.

“Every single time a parent would say to me, ‘No, my daughter can’t stay over at your house,’ I would wonder if the underlying reason was Erik,” Tammi admitted to People while referring to her youngest child who considers Erik her father. “There is always that question in my mind.”

During an interview with MSNBC, Tammi opened up about how her relationship with Erik evolved, saying, “We did get very close through letters and then you know the relationship moved forward when I did meet him. But it was the correspondence that he became a really good friend of mine and understood what I was going through and I understood what he was going through.”

She continued. “And then after I met him things got more and more intense, so it’s you know through letters and your constraint to letter writing.”

Erik also reflected on his bond with his wife despite the unconventional barriers between them.

“Tammi is what gets me through. I can’t think about the sentence. When I do, I do it with great sadness and a primal fear. I break into a cold sweat. It’s so frightening I just haven’t come to terms with it,” he told People in 2005. “Tammi’s love was a major step in my choosing life. Having someone who loves you unconditionally, who you can be completely open with, is good for anybody — to know that this person loves me as I am.”

Over the years, Tammi offered updates to those who supported Erik and Lyle about their appeal process. Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón recommended in October 2024 that Erik and Lyle’s sentences be reduced to 50 years, which could allow them to be released on parole if approved by a judge.

“Yesterday was a difficult and emotional day. I am Grateful to DA Gascon for his courage to seek resentencing for Erik,” Tammi wrote via X. “I am naturally disappointed he did not go further and act on his own belief that Erik and Lyle have served enough time in prison.”

“When I first came to prison, I wasn’t just sentenced to prison. I was sentenced to prison to never see my brother again, to never have a hope for freedom,” Erik on an episode of the “2 Angry Men” podcast in February 2025. “It was hard for me. I faced a lot of bullying and trauma. It was a dangerous environment. Fortunately, I had the love of a woman that came into my life and brought a little precious daughter.”

Despite the challenges he faced, Erik was grateful for Tammi’s presence in his life. “I began to experience fatherhood and growth and I began to heal a lot of the self-hate and self-loathing that I dealt with all of my life,” he continued. “When I came to prison, I didn’t come to prison healed. I came to prison dealing with the traumatic wounds of my past and the tragic crime that resulted. I had to face all of those truths and journey through that dark place of prison.”

He added: “A lot of my freedom came from understanding that I’m actually someone that is capable of being loved and that I deserve love. I’m striving to be a good person. I’m striving to be a better person every day and I want to be a person that my family can be proud of for certain. Erik Menéndez credited wife Tammi Menéndez for helping him survive difficult times in prison — including an assault behind bars.

“When I first came to prison, I wasn’t just sentenced to prison. I was sentenced to prison to never see my brother again, to never have a hope for freedom,” Erik, 54, recalled during the Thursday, February 20, episode of the “2 Angry Men” podcast. “I had to defend myself in a very violent Level 4 — which is considered a maximum security prison — where I didn’t know anyone and I’m 600 miles away from any place that I’d ever really been to.”

Erik was “very alone and afraid” throughout his first years in prison, adding, “It was hard for me. I faced a lot of bullying and trauma. It was a dangerous environment. Fortunately, I had the love of a woman that came into my life and brought a little precious daughter.”

One alleged incident has stayed with Erik to this day.

“It was very, very difficult for me and there were a lot of starts and stops. Frankly, it was very difficult. When I began to really work on myself and realize that I’m not flawed and that there isn’t something inherently wrong with me, then light began to open up,” Erik continued on Thursday. “I began to love myself again. That frankly is what has given me hope. For people that are victims of severe childhood trauma, we live in the shadows and in this inner pain and in this silence where we have self-humiliation, self-condemnation and self-loathing.”

While serving his prison sentence, Erik got married to Tammi, 62, in 1999 after she started writing letters to him. Erik also took on a stepfather role with Tammi’s daughter, whom she shares with her ex-husband.

“A lot of my freedom came from understanding that I’m actually someone that is capable of being loved and that I deserve love,” Erik noted during Thursday’s interview. “I’m striving to be a good person. Menendez Brothers Reveal How They Watched 'Monsters' in Prison

Erik and Lyle Menéndez had a very visceral reaction to Ryan Murphy‘s Monsters — but how were they even able to watch the controversial series from prison?

“We were able to see quite a bit of it. I watched some of it through video chat that they allow us to do here,” Lyle, 57, revealed during the Thursday, February 20, episode of the “2 Angry Men” podcast. “And obviously, we’ve seen a million clips of it on TV and heard a lot about it.”

Lyle clarified that he and Erik, 54, haven’t watched the whole show just yet while serving their sentence at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, adding, “We feel like we’ve seen the entire thing. But we have not yet.”

From what he did see, Lyle, for his part, had nothing but praise for Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch‘s performances.

What the 'Monsters' Cast Said About Menendez Inaccuracies, Incest Backlash

“Ryan Murphy’s project was very widely disseminated. It really did actually move a lot of people to understand the childhood trauma that Eric and I suffered and particularly the horrific stuff that Eric suffered,” Lyle noted in the rare tell-all interview. “Cooper Koch’s rendition of Eric and his trauma was pretty extraordinary. And so was Nicholas with this.”

He continued: “I feel like in the end a lot of people were educated about what can happen even in rich affluent homes. It opened a lot of people’s eyes and that’s always a good thing. Like my brother mentioned, abuse requires being in the shadows of society. Because once you bring a spotlight on it, the bullying and the trauma tends to find healing or find recourse. So I feel like shining a light on it — which Ryan Murphy did — and his project ended up doing that.”

Season 2 of the hit Netflix series, which debuted in September 2024, chronicled Lyle (Chavez) and Erik’s (Koch) 1990 arrest for the murder of their parents, José (Javier Bardem) and Kitty (Chloë Sevigny). Taking inspiration from footage of the trial and subsequent interviews, Monsters mirrored key moments from the siblings’ lives before and after they were sentenced to life without parole for shooting their mother and father.

Episodes 4 and 5 received critical and fan praise for how it approached Erik and Lyle’s claims that they killed their parents in self-defense following years of alleged physical, emotional and sexual abuse. However, the show received backlash for other inaccuracies about the Menéndez brothers, including the insinuation that they were in a sexual relationship.

What the 'Monsters' Cast Said About Menendez Inaccuracies, Incest Backlash

“I believed we had moved beyond the lies and ruinous character portrayals of Lyle, creating a caricature of Lyle rooted in horrible and blatant lies rampant in the show,” read a statement from Erik that was shared via Lyle’s Facebook page in September 2024. “I can only believe they were done so on purpose. It is with a heavy heart that I say, I believe Ryan Murphy cannot be this naive and inaccurate about the facts of our lives so as to do this without bad intent.”

Erik made it clear that he wasn’t thrilled about how he and Lyle were portrayed.

“It is sad for me to know that Netflix’s dishonest portrayal of the tragedies surrounding our crime have taken the painful truths several steps backward — back through time to an era when the prosecution built a narrative on a belief system that males were not sexually abused, and that males experienced rape trauma differently than women,” Erik’s statement continued. “Those awful lies have been disrupted and exposed by countless brave victims over the last two decades who have broken through their personal shame and bravely spoken out. So now Murphy shapes his horrible narrative through vile and appalling character portrayals of Lyle and of me and disheartening slander. Is the truth not enough?”

In response, Murphy, 59, has pointed out how his show created renewed interest in Erik and Lyle — despite their disapproval over how they were portrayed.

“They are now being talked about by millions of people all over the world. There’s a documentary coming out in two weeks about them, also on Netflix. And I think the interesting thing about it is it’s asking people to answer the questions, ‘Should they get a new trial? Should they be let out of jail? What happens in our society? Should people be locked away for life? Is there no chance ever at rehabilitation?’” he told Variety in September 2024. “I’m interested in that, and a lot of people are talking about it. We’re asking really difficult questions, and it’s giving these brothers another trial in the court of public opinion. From what I can tell, it’s really opened up the possibility that this evidence that they claim that they have, maybe that there is going to be a way forward for them.”

Will Steven Krueger and Girlfriend Candice King Work Together After 'TVD'?

Steven Krueger and Candice King started dating after appearing on different shows within The Vampire Diaries universe — but would they ever work together now?

“It’d be really fun. We’re not the kind of people that are super precious about, like, ‘Oh, I need my space. I need to work and focus and all this,” Krueger, 35, exclusively told Us Weekly about how he and King “would crush it” as costars. “I’m sure that’d be a great time. If you want to write a movie for us, by all means, go for it.”

Krueger and King, 37, have spoken about a potential collaboration but haven’t committed to a specific project yet. “We joked around about it,” he added. “Part of the beauty of this industry is you never know what’s going to happen. We do have a lot of the same friends who are producers and writers so I’m sure that at some point somewhere down the road, that’s definitely a possibility.”

Krueger rose to fame playing Josh Rosza on The Originals. After The Vampire Diaries came to an end, Krueger found love with King, who played Caroline Forbes on TVD from 2009 to 2017. The couple confirmed their romance in December 2023 and have continued to support each other’s careers — including King with Krueger’s role on Yellowjackets.

Candice Accola Kisses Boyfriend Steven Krueger After Trip With Her Daughters

“Candice is a fan of the show and she wanted to murder me if I gave her any spoilers this season. She loves watching it and that was a thing that she discussed with me before we left to film. I thought she was joking at first, but she was like, ‘Look at my face. I’m dead serious. I don’t want to know anything,'” he recalled to Us. “And I’m like, ‘Well, how do I talk to you about work?’ She’s like, ‘Maybe you don’t talk to me about work.’ She is very serious about not wanting to know what happens in the show. She wants to find out for herself.”

King’s love for Yellowjackets has caused Krueger to be more cautious about sharing stories from set.

“Nobody wants a spoiler because the way that the story is told is so damn entertaining and so just edge of your seat that it kind of ruins it when you find out something in advance. I remember I FaceTimed Candice at one point and I was in my trailer but I did have on wardrobe and costume,” he shared. “She saw something, a tiny little thing as part of my wardrobe, and was like, ‘Oh, I cannot believe you are on FaceTime.’ So it’s little stuff like that. But that’s the beauty of this show. There’s little Easter eggs just all over the place and that’s what makes it so fun.”

Despite getting his start on The Originals, Krueger is not recognized as much as King has been.

A Guide to Every Offscreen Couple From 'The Vampire Diaries' Universe

“Anytime I’m walking around with Candice, it’s always like, ‘Oh my God Caroline!’ And then they do a double take and they’re like, ‘Oh, right. yeah. And what was your character’s name again? From The Originals?‘ I’m like, ‘Yep, that was me,'” he quipped. “Yellowjackets is a little bit more in the zeitgeist right now and at the top of people’s minds. It’s definitely Yellowjackets at the moment.”

Krueger, who plays Coach Ben Scott on the Showtime series, continued: “But I love interacting with fans. It’s been so fun. You go back 10 or 15 years and you tell yourself when you’re first thinking about getting into this industry that somewhere down the line you’re going to walk down the street and people are going to say, ‘Hey Steven, I know you from this.’ That experience and that phenomenon is still mind-blowing to me. I feel incredibly grateful that I’m in a position like that.”

Yellowjackets is available to stream on Paramount+ Fridays and airs on Showtime Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.

Scott Disick doesn’t always give large tips to food service workers — and he doesn’t feel bad about it.

During the Thursday, February 20, episode of The Kardashians, Scott, 41, and his friend Benny Luciano made a guest appearance on the show. Scott wanted to order Starbucks while waiting to reunite with Khloé Kardashian, but it was the tip selection that caught Benny’s eye.

“Did you just give two dollars?” Benny asked, to which Scott asked, “Yeah, you don’t tip?”

Benny noted that he does tip “but not two dollars” on a large order. “You gotta do 20 percent of that,” Benny added. “You got a 50 dollar Starbucks and you are only tipping two dollars? So they are going to be in their car and they are going to be like, ‘Look at this motherf—er who just gave me two dollars.’ And they [will spit in your drink].”

Later in the episode, Scott and Khloé, 40, interviewed potential candidates to be his new assistant. Benny had fun with Scott by asking the contenders what they would give someone who delivered an order over 30 dollars. One person replied 10 percent of the order while another said five dollars made the most sense to them.

This isn’t the first time Hulu pulled back the curtain on the famous family’s unique approach to money. An episode that was released in June 2023 showed how Kris Jenner wasn’t familiar with fast food prices when she handed Khloé several hundred dollar bills to pay for a group meal at In-N-Out.

Incredibly Ordinary Foods the Kardashians Claimed They Have Never Tried

“I don’t know how the f–k you have never been to a fast food restaurant,” Khloé explained to Kris, 69. “We don’t need hundreds of dollars.”

Khloé told the cameras she was shocked that Kris didn’t know how much food at the restaurant would cost, adding, “My mom gave me $100 [to pay for cheeseburgers]. She tried to give me $300 — I don’t think she realized how much fast food restaurants are.”

The Kardashian-Jenners have also gone viral for their food choices. An October 2022 episode took Us by surprise when Kim Kardashian asked a waiter in Italy what tortellini was, saying, “Maybe I’ll get that. Do you have anything that’s not spaghetti? Like, a penne or anything else? I’ll have penne.”

Kim, 44, later admitted she ate her pizza without the cheese. “Is it weird that I don’t like the cheese on pizza? I just like the bread,” she asked while removing the topping from the crust. When Kim went for another slice, she once again took off the cheese before biting into the pizza.

Celebs Trying Ordinary Foods for the First Time

The bombshells weren’t just limited to food. In a 2023 episode, Kim and Khloé told their family that they have never tried a beer.

“I’ve never had a regular beer,” Kim told Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner in a September 2023 episode. “I have had a beer but only in Jamaica. A Red Stripe — and I loved it. I’ve never had a Corona or I guess an American beer. Is Corona American? I have no idea.”

Khloé asked whether she should “put a lemon” in her beer before trying a Corona, which actually originates from Mexico.

“The beer is not bad,” she noted before Kim chimed in, “I don’t think I will like it. … Oh, it is kind of sweet! I’ve never had a beer.”

New episodes of The Kardashians air on Hulu every Thursday.
