Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman has had his wife, Joanna Freeman, by his side for every step of his gridiron journey.

Marcus, 38, and Joanna met during Marcus’ time at The Ohio State University, where he was a star linebacker from 2004 to 2008. According to Yahoo! Sports, the two were introduced by Marcus’ best friend, Calvin Pruitt, while Marcus and Joanna lived in the same Columbus apartment complex.

At the time, Joanna was studying at nearby Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. She would go on to become a news reporter at WBNS-Channel 10 in Columbus before she and Marcus started their family together.

Marcus was drafted in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears — and would later sign to the practice squads of the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans that same year — though he never saw any NFL game action.

Kaylee Hartung Gushes About Bond Between Female Reporters Across the NFL

As the number of prominent female reporters continues to grow across the NFL, Prime Video’s Kaylee Hartung gushed about the supportive community they have created with one another.

“It’s so cool,” Hartung, 39, exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of Prime Video’s first-ever playoff game broadcast between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, January 11. “It’s the most special group of women I’ve ever gotten to consider myself part of. I feel so lucky.”

Hartung is joined on the sidelines for Prime Video’s NFL coverage by Taylor Rooks, with Charissa Thompson anchoring the network’s coverage during pregame, postgame and halftime.

“It’s so genuine among us,” Hartung explained. “Charissa, Taylor and I all have very different skill sets. We have very different personalities. I think we’re able to work together and support each other in a way that is so special. There’s no competition. We are each other’s biggest cheerleaders.”

ESPN's Holly Rowe Happily Learned More About Taylor Swift Via NFL Coverage

Across the networks, other female reporters in places of prominence include Fox Sports’ Erin Andrews and Pam Oliver and CBS’ Tracy Wolfson and Kay Adams, who anchored Netflix’s inaugural Christmas Day coverage.

“We all just really get along and like each other,” Hartung told Us. “Charissa and I were friends before we were ever on Thursday Night Football together. I had never met Taylor before the first time everyone got together. But it was instant for all of us.”

Hartung, who also works as a contributor on NBC’s Today show, counts Sunday Night Football sideline reporter Melissa Stark as another encouraging colleague. When the duo worked together during the NFL Divisional Round playoff game between the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit’s Ford Field in January 2024, Hartung had a full circle moment of gratitude.

“We were sitting in the shuttle [on the way to the stadium] and I teared up in the cheesiest, silliest, most completely raw, emotional way,” Hartung recalled. “15-year-old me never could have imagined this. Melissa has been so supportive of me and I just appreciate that I can call her a friend. We’ll compare notes if I’ve got a team before her or if she’s got one before me.”

Why Kelly Stafford and Her 4 Girls Might Be 'Moving' Out Before Playoffs

Hartung also shouted out NBC’s Maria Taylor and ESPN’s Laura Rutledge, with whom she helped launch the SEC Network in 2014.

“I feel so lucky that our friendships have all endured,” she said. “I hope that we set an example for women younger than us. It’s such a competitive environment and there are only so many opportunities. But there is enough to go around.”

Hartung added, “At the end of the day, one of the things we all have in common is that we are all nice, welcoming, good people who are excited for each other’s successes and excited to cheer each other on.”

Hartung will be on the sideline for Prime Video’s first-ever playoff game between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, which streams live on Saturday, January 11, at 7:30 pm ET.

Before their teams square off in the Orange Bowl, Penn State head coach James Franklin admitted Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman is living his follicle fantasy.

During a Wednesday, January 8, press conference ahead of the game on Thursday night, Franklin, 52, revealed football wasn’t the only thing on his mind when the two coaches addressed the media.

“It’ll be a great game,” Franklin said. “We’re really, really excited about competing. I’m looking over here at Marcus. How old are you now, Marcus?”

“38,” Freeman said with a slight smile.

Franklin, who is bald, responded, “I mean, I look at the hairline on this guy. Envious of his hairline in a lot of ways.”

Outside of complimenting his physical appearance, Franklin said Freeman has done “a phenomenal job” this season with the Fighting Irish, who earned a trip to the College Football Playoff semifinals after wins over Indiana and Georgia.

Penn State earned its Orange Bowl trip following victories over SMU and Boise State. The winner of Thursday’s game will advance to the College Football Playoff National Championship game against the winner of Ohio State and Texas, who play each other in the Cotton Bowl on Friday, January 10.

In guiding Notre Dame to the semifinals in his third season as head coach, Freeman has seen his notoriety explode. On Wednesday, Freeman was named the winner of the George Munger College Coach of the Year Award.

Freeman was able to celebrate his team’s Sugar Bowl win over Georgia alongside his wife, Joanna, and their six children: son Vinny, 17, daughter Siena, 12, son Gino, 11, son Nico, 9, daughter Capri, 7, and son Rocco, 6.

After the New Orleans-hosted game was delayed due to the truck attack on New Year’s Day, Freeman admitted his staff was slightly behind the eight-ball — but he fully expects his team to be ready for the challenge that Penn State poses.

“I think the coaches, we probably were a little bit behind to start just because of the travel and in that aspect, but physically our guys were good,” Freeman told reporters on Wednesday. “Our guys were good, and we’re going to be ready to roll. But we’ve got to utilize, as you just said, every minute we have from now until tomorrow night at 7:30.”

He added, “That’s the mindset that we all have is every minute we’ve got to utilize. We didn’t have two extra days, so let’s utilize this time that we have physically and mentally to make sure we’re prepared to go tomorrow night.”

The Orange Bowl between Notre Dame and Penn State kicks off Thursday, January 9, at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Jets' Sauce Gardner Sued for Falsely Claiming Woman Had an OnlyFans Page

New York Jets star Sauce Gardner has been sued for falsely claiming a Buffalo Bills fan had an OnlyFans page during an online spat.

Gardner, 24, was named in a lawsuit filed by Kalli Mariakis in Morris County, New Jersey Superior Court last month, Us Weekly confirms.

The lawsuit stems from an August 2024 interaction via X, where the NFL star posted a picture of an empty room and wrote, “Do I even have to say what I’m getting built at my new house?”

In response, Mariakis — who calls herself a member of “#BillsMafia” in her bio on X — responded, “A simulator to teach you how not to commit pass interference or defensive holding.“

Breaking Down the Pettiest Scandals — and Feuds — of 2024

The next day, Gardner responded, “I’m sure your husband wouldn’t like it if I told him you’d [direct messaged] me your OF link, would he?” (“OF” is widely known as an abbreviation for OnlyFans, a platform for adult content creators.)

Mariakis responded to the Jets player, “Why don’t you send the link then? He’s waiting! I would love to know what it is myself! Nice comeback @iamSauceGardner but what a shame it’s a big fat lie!“

In the lawsuit, Mariakis denied ever having an OnlyFans page, calling Gardner’s post “knowingly false and malicious.” Mariakis also said her husband and daughter have been subjected to “harassment and disparagement.“

A glance at Mariakis’ Instagram page shows many of her posts flooded with comments about the Gardner incident. “Where’s the OF link,” one person wrote in the comments section of a July 2024 photo of Mariakis and her husband.

On a photo of a reclining sofa Mariakis was attempting to sell in September 2024, another user commented, “sauce gardner owns u.”

The 15-page lawsuit also named Barstool Sports, founded by Dave Portnoy, as a defendant.

After Mariakis’ exchange with Gardner went viral, Barstool posted an article with the headline: “If You’re a Married OnlyFans Model Who’s Been DMing Sauce Gardner, You’d Be Wise Not to Troll Him About His Coverage Skill.“

Flipping Out's Trace Lehnhoff Claps Back at Judgment Over Joining OnlyFans

The lawsuit argued the article was “not only false and misleading, it was intentionally based upon a falsehood, whose truth would have defeated its central message: ‘Don’t mess with Sauce Gardner on or off the field.’”

Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for Gardner and Barstool Sports.

Mariakis is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

Gardner was selected 4th overall by the Jets in the 2022 NFL Draft. In May 2022, he signed a four-year contract worth $38.7 million guaranteed.

Why Kayla Nicole Was ‘Crying Uncontrollably’ in Middle of a Restaurant

Kayla Nicole candidly expressed why she was overcome with emotion during a recent food run.

Nicole, 33, the ex of Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, posted a video via her Instagram Story on Wednesday, January 8, showing the model clearly upset while sitting in her car.

“Oh my God, y’all. Can I just be honest for a second?” Nicole said “I just pulled over to get some food in this restaurant. Had to take my food to go because I started just crying uncontrollably, which is very on brand for me.”

Nicole added, “I said it once, I said it again. I am an empath through and through. I feel things so deeply.”

Travis Kelce and Ex-Girlfriend Kayla Nicole: The Way They Were

At the root of Nicole’s emotional state, she explained, were the wildfires that continue to ravage the greater Los Angeles area.

“The state of my city right now,” Nicole continued. “I have family members that are displaced. I have people in my life whose homes are in danger. I know people directly whose homes have burned down.”

Nicole did not mention if she was under threat of evacuation, but noted how the fires have allowed her to feel gratitude for everything she has.

“I don’t think until moments like this we truly understand the magnitude of the blessing it is to have a home, to have a place to call home,” she said. “A lot of people lost everything last night and I can’t imagine what that feels like.”

Nicole then led a prayer for “anyone else that may still be in harm’s way. I want to pray for our first responders. I want to pray for the people that have been impacted, who already wil have to put their lives back together.”

After the prayer, Nicole wiped away tears before ending the video.

Nicole, who dated Kelce, 35, on and off for five years before breaking up for good in 2022, is currently appearing on season 3 of the Fox reality series Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test

During the Wednesday, January 7 premiere episode, Nicole addressed the scrutiny she’s faced given Kelce’s relationship with his new A-list girlfriend.

“He’s dating Taylor Swift,” Nicole said. “I just get a lot of s— online because he’s dating such a mega superstar.”

Which Stars Have Been Affected by the Los Angeles Fires?

Later in the premiere, the Special Forces soldiers pulled up an article from The Independent with the headline: “Travis Kelce’s ex Kayla Nicole asks trolls to ‘leave her alone’ as Taylor Swift releases new album.”

The article came out shortly after the release of Swift’s album The Tortured Poets Department in April 2024, Nicole posted via X: “There’s just no way I can fully digest all these new albums. I’m still on Cowboy Carter.”

Nicole then fired back at critics who perceived her message to be a direct shot at Swift.

“I’m unproblematic. Mind my business. Never respond to the constant vitriol,” she posted. “Solid as they come & don’t expect a pat on the back for it either. Just know everyone has a breaking point & would love for ‘yall’ (because you know exactly who you are) to leave me alone.”

Almost two years after officially retiring from the NFL, Tom Brady proved he’s still got it.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion posted some impressive pictures via Instagram on Tuesday, January 7, showing off his beach body during a football game in the sand with his 17-year-old son, Jack

“The playoffs roll around and you can’t help but see how the ol’ arm feels 😂,” Brady, 47, captioned the post, which included photos of himself shirtless in a pair of fitted swim trunks.

In 2022, before retiring from the NFL, Brady signed a 10-year broadcasting deal with Fox Sports, reportedly worth $375 million. He’ll be in the booth alongside play-by-play partner Kevin Burkhardt for the Wild Card playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers on Sunday, January 13.

Tom Brady Calls 3 Kids 'Loves of My Life' in Sweet New Year's Message

As for the beach photos, Brady’s former New England Patriots teammate Danny Amendola, who knows a thing or two about playing with the former quarterback in the postseason, commented, “Playoff time brodie.”

Brady gave a peek into his exercise and fitness routine last year, joking via Instagram in September, “Color analysts have to stay in shape too!”

“Added some swimming into the workout routine this year,” he explained. “Great muscle resistance and some aerobic cardio all at once.”

As for Jack — who Brady shares with his ex, Bridget Moynahan — the teenager has also enjoyed spending some time with his famous father on the basketball court over the years.

“I’m gonna need a few more sessions to be able to keep up with this kid soon 😂🏀,” Brady shared via Instagram in September 2023 after some hardwood action together.

In a birthday post for Jack via Instagram in August 2024, Brady called his son “the kindest, sweetest, most thoughtful 17-year-old I know.”

“You are truly a blessing in my life and I am so grateful to watch you mature into a young man,” Bray continued, “Your love of family, friends, school, athletics, hard work and dedication to everything you put your energy into are just some of your amazing qualities. I love spending every minute with you and I cherish our time together.”

Brady — who also shares son Ben, 15, and daughter Vivian, 12, with his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen — recently admitted it “sucks” to be his son.

“There’s a lot of challenges I faced as a kid,” Brady said during an appearance at the Fortune Global Forum in New York City in November 2024. “My kids naturally are gonna be faced with their own challenges, and they gotta figure out how to overcome them. I’ll be there to support them and I’ll be learning along the way with them.”

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall offered his perspective on being shot in the chest during an armed robbery attempt last year.

Pearsall, 24, was hospitalized as a result of the shooting in August 2024, which happened in San Francisco’s Union Square when a 17-year-old attempted to rob the football star at gunpoint.

“I don’t know how he grew up, so I can’t judge him as a man just based off one action that he made, as violent as a crime it was,” Pearsall told reporters on Monday, January 6. “God forbid him doing that to someone else. I don’t ever want that to happen.”

Pearsall added, “But for me, just being able to forgive him. I have to be able to forgive him to have that weight off my chest.”

Why 49ers’ Charvarius Ward Might Leave California After Daughter's Death

Three days after the shooting, an unnamed minor was charged with attempted murder in relation to the incident. The suspect, who remains incarcerated, also faces a second-degree robbery charge and a charge for assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

“At some point, I do want to talk to the kid,” Pearsall said. “If I can create an impact on him in any way, I think that would be really good and I’d be open to doing that for sure.”

Pearsall was hospitalized in “serious, but stable” condition after the shooting. He was released the following day.

“A struggle between Mr. Pearsall and the suspect ensued and gunfire from the suspect’s gun struck both Mr. Pearsall and the suspect,” San Francisco police chief Bill Scott said in a statement after the incident. “This kind of violence is simply unacceptable in our city and we will do everything in our power to work with District Attorney Brooke Jenkins to ensure that justice is served in this matter.”

Pearsall, who was drafted by the 49ers with the 31st overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, missed the team’s first six games of the season as a result of his injuries. He made his NFL debut on October 20, 2024, exactly 50 days after he had been shot.

“It meant everything,” Pearsall told reporters after the game. “Obviously, all the adversity I just went through these past months, it was really good to go out there with my guys again.”

He continued, “At the end of the day when the incident first happened, the first thing I was thinking about was the guys and the coaches in this locker room, the entire staff, and they did a really good job of rallying around me, making sure I stayed up, and it was a huge blessing for me.”

Jane Gaudreau Admits 'Rough' Day After Accused Killer Pleads Not Guilty

Jane Gaudreau, the mother of Johnny and Matthew, candidly revealed her emotional state after the man accused of killing her sons pleaded not guilty.

Sean M. Higgins pleaded not guilty to all charges, including first-degree manslaughter, during an arraignment hearing in New Jersey on Tuesday, January 7. Higgins, whose blood alcohol level was over the legal limit at the time, is accused of striking Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, with his Jeep Cherokee while they were riding bicycles in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, on August 29, 2024. The brothers died on the scene.

Hours after Higgins entered his plea, Jane posted two very telling quotes via her Instagram Story

“Sometimes life is hard,” one of the quotes posted on Tuesday read. “Some days are very rough, and sometimes you just have to cry before you can move forward.”

Higgins also pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree reckless vehicular homicide, a fourth-degree charge of tampering with physical evidence and a second-degree charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

During the arraignment on Tuesday, it was revealed that Higgins was offered a 35-year prison sentence if he pleaded guilty to both aggravated manslaughter charges and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Salem County assistant prosecutor Michael Mestern said Higgins would need to plead guilty to both aggravated manslaughter charges in exchange for consecutive 15-year sentences.

If convicted, each charge of first-degree aggravated manslaughter carries a maximum of 30 years. Vehicular homicide carries a maximum of 10 years per charge.

In an email to The Athletic, Higgins’ lawyers, Richard F. Klineburger and Matthew Portella, helped explain their client’s not guilty plea.

The email read, in part, “We believe that the facts of this case will reveal that this tragedy was not the result of any malfeasance but rather a combination of uniquely unfortunate circumstances unlikely to ever occur again.”

Football
Luke Hales/Getty Images

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward admitted the tragic death of his 23-month-old daughter, Amani Joy, might impact what comes next for him professionally.

Ward, 28, is currently a free agent, though 49ers general manager John Lynch has indicated he’d like to re-sign Ward if the contract makes sense.

The football star announced the death of his daughter in October 2024, writing via Instagram that “she was the best blessing we could have asked for.” Ward and his partner, Monique Cook, welcomed Amani in November 2022. An official cause of death was not announced, though she had battled heart issues throughout her short life.

“You know, I’ve got a lot of trauma in California,” Ward told reporters on Monday, January 6. “There were great times, but the worst thing that’s happened to me — that’s probably ever gonna happen to me, knock on wood — happened in California.”

“It just brings back bad memories,” Ward continued. “Every time I get on a plane to come back to California, San Jose, here, it’s just a bad memory. I go through that every night by myself because my girl doesn’t want to come back to California because of what happened.

He added of Cook, “She’s my strength right now. I need her.”

Ward admitted “it was hard for me personally to go to work every day, every game,” even going as far to say he “almost left a couple of times.”

“S—, I know fans probably hate me [for thinking about leaving the team], but f— it, it’s real life,” he said. “It’s bigger than football. This is the hardest time of my life for sure.”

According to The Athletic, Ward spent much of the 49ers locker clean-out day on Monday signing jerseys for his teammates, seemingly indicating that he wouldn’t be returning to the team.

Still, Ward offered that there’s still hope he’ll be a Niner next season. “If they can afford me, there’s a chance I can come back,” he said.

In Ward and Cook’s initial note about Amani’s passing, the couple said their late daughter “overcame adversity at a young age and was always happy, lighting up every room with her smile.”

“$11 an hour,” Randi wrote. “I only made $4.25 an hour when I worked there in high school.”

According to the website of her company, QB Producer, Randi grew up in the small east Texas town of Troup with a population of around 1,100.

Why Patrick Mahomes’ Mom Can’t ‘Imagine’ Being Taylor Swift’s Parent

After high school, Randi met Patrick Mahomes Sr., Patrick’s father. The two got married before divorcing in 2006. The couple also share son Jackson, 24.

Randi later welcomed a daughter, Mia, 13, from a separate relationship after her divorce.

In addition to being mother to her three kids, Randi “spends most of her time at Hollytree Country Club as an event planner where she has worked since 2005.”

Described as Randi’s “platform for sharing her dreams and inspirations,” QB Producer sells t-shirts, hats and jewelry, in addition to the children’s book “Play Together,” which Randi cowrote.

“At her core, Randi is still just a home-grown mom living in a small town that is learning that there is a big world out there through her children,” the website explains, “While she navigates through this crazy life, she hopes to reflect back on her journey and share her experiences and lessons with all parents. Through living her life to the fullest and supporting her children, Randi looks forward to the opportunity to share her dreams, ideas and survival tactics.

Recently, Randi has been busy taking care of her father, Randy, who has been ill since last year.

For the Chiefs’ September 29 showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers, Randi shared a photo via her Instagram Story of herself, Mia and Randy watching the game from his hospital room.

Ahead of the Los Angeles Rams playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings, Kelly Stafford is willing to take one for the team.

Stafford, the wife of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, revealed she’s been battling a nasty illness with the NFL playoffs around the corner.

“I can’t think straight,” Kelly said Tuesday, January 7 on her “Morning After” podcast. “I currently believe I have the flu. Two of my daughters have the flu.”

Things are so bad, Kelly explained, that she “wasn’t able to move yesterday” when she was in attendance at the Rams’ regular season finale against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, January 5.

Kelly Stafford Says She’s ‘Wasting Money’ Bringing Daughters to Rams Games

“I passed out on a little bench in the suite,” Kelly noted. “We had all of our friends in town and I was a real downer.”

Due to her sickness, Kelly said husband Matthew “won’t come close to me, which I completely understand.”

So, with that in mind, Kelly said she’s prepared to pack her bags. “If all my kids have the flu, I don’t think we should be in this house with him,” she said.

Kelly got ahead of the criticism and explained why it would be her and her four daughters — twins Sawyer and Chandler, 7, Hunter, 6, and Tyler, 4 — who would be moving out instead of Matthew.

“I know everyone’s like, ‘Why would y’all move? There’s 5 of you and 1 of him,’” she said. “Because all of his work stuff and his film room and everything is here. So we would just get out of here. I think that is on the table right now.”

Kelly added, “We have 105 fevers going around this house right now and we can’t have Matthew with that going into the playoffs. So we’re going to do our best to not let him get that.”

The Rams will host the Vikings at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium on Monday, January 13. Despite Minnesota having a 14-3 record, Los Angeles, who finished the season 10-7, get to play at home by virtue of winning the NFC West.

Kelly Stafford Showed Off ‘Tipsy’ Dance Moves at Rams Game: ‘Embarrassing’

Kelly didn’t have time to listen to any critics who argued against the NFL’s seeding practices, which gave the Rams home-field advantage in the first round.

“I don’t really understand the complaints,” she said. “Your team made the playoffs. If they’re that good to win the Super Bowl, they should win the Super Bowl.”

Given their record, Kelly told upset Vikings fans “you should have no problem with us,” before adding, “But you are going to have a problem with us, just saying.”

The Rams-Vikings Wild Card game kicks off on Monday, January 13 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN.

Man Accused of Killing Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau Enters Not Guilty Plea

Sean M. Higgins, the man charged with killing brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, has pleaded not guilty.

Higgins pleaded not guilty to all charges, including first-degree manslaughter, during an arraignment hearing on Tuesday, January 7.

In December, Higgins was indicted on two counts of first-degree aggravated manslaughter, two counts of second-degree reckless vehicular homicide, a fourth-degree charge of tampering with physical evidence and a second-degree charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Higgins allegedly struck and killed Johnny, 31, a star for the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, and Matthew, 29, when they were riding bicycles in Oldmans Township, New Jersey on August 29, the evening before their sister Katie Gaudreau’s wedding was scheduled.

Why the Gaudreau Brothers’ Heartbreaking Tragedy Captured Everyone's Attention

During the arraignment on Tuesday, it was revealed that Higgins was offered a 35-year prison sentence if he pleaded guilty to both aggravated manslaughter charges and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

At the scene of the crime, it was revealed that Higgins’ blood-alcohol level was .087, which is over the legal limit of .08. He admitted to officers he had been drinking, including consuming beers while behind the wheel of his vehicle.

According to Salem County assistant prosecutor Michael Mestern in Tuesday’s hearing, Higgins would need to plead guilty to both aggravated manslaughter charges in exchange for consecutive 15-year sentences.

Mestern also said the offer would require Higgins to plead guilty to leaving the scene of a fatal accident in return for a five-year prison term.

If Higgins is convicted, each charge of first-degree aggravated manslaughter carries a maximum of 30 years. Vehicular homicide carries a maximum of 10 years per charge.

In an email to The Athletic, Higgins’ attorneys, Richard F. Klineburger and Matthew Portella, argued some of the indictment counts were improperly charged.

“While this case has garnered significant media attention, it is essential to remember that our client is presumed innocent until proven guilty,” the email read. “As a combat soldier who has served our country with distinction and honor, Mr. Higgins has the utmost faith in our judicial process and would not want to taint the proceedings with statements made outside of the Courtroom.”

Gaudreaus Appear at Hearing for Man Charged With Killing Johnny, Matthew

The email concluded, “We believe that the facts of this case will reveal that this tragedy was not the result of any malfeasance but rather a combination of uniquely unfortunate circumstances unlikely to ever occur again.”

Higgins is accused of hitting Johnny and Matthew with his Jeep Grand Cherokee while attempting to pass two vehicles on a two-lane road. The brothers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Higgins is next scheduled to appear in court on February 4.

In a season filled with lucky breaks for the Kansas City Chiefs, quarterback Patrick Mahomes received another one on the homefront.

Mahomes, 29, revealed his wife, Brittany Mahomes, is due to give birth to the couple’s third baby on Sunday, January 12, during Kansas City’s playoff bye week.

“He told me his wife Brittany is due to give birth to their 3rd child on Sunday. If she doesn’t give birth by then she will be induced Monday,” CBS reporter Tracy Wolfson shared via X on Monday, January 6.

The timing is fortuitous because the Chiefs have earned the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC and a first-round bye in the playoffs, meaning they won’t begin their playoff quest until the weekend of January 18.

Wolfson, 49, added, “There was def extra motivation for Patrick to get that bye week! 😜.”

Patrick and Brittany — who got married in March 2022 — already share daughter Sterling, 3, and son Bronze, 2. In July 2024, they revealed their third baby will be a girl

In an interview with Kay Adams that aired during Netflix’s coverage of the Chiefs’ Christmas Day game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Patrick said the new addition would be arriving “any day now.”

“Brittany says I’ve been stressing her out too much this season,” Mahomes told Adams, 38, in the sit-down chat. “So I got to try to not put so much stress on her through these football games.”

He added, “Hopefully God works the right way and we can have that baby on the bye week somewhere, and then everything will work out perfectly.”

After the Christmas Day win over the Steelers, which earned the Chiefs the first-round bye, Patrick gushed about the importance of the victory.

“I told my pregnant wife I was gonna get the No. 1 seed so we can go have that baby,” he said in his postgame interview.

Brittany responded to the interview via her Instagram Story from home, where she was watching the game.

“Always keeping his promises,” Brittany wrote.

Patrick and Brittany, 29, announced they are expecting their third baby with a joint Instagram post in July of last year.

The Chiefs quest for a historic third-consecutive Super Bowl will start on either Saturday, January 18, or Sunday, January 19. Their opponent will be decided by the winners of the Wild Card weekend games, which kick off Saturday, January 11.

Before returning to action on Sunday, January 5, Detroit Lions star Alex Anzalone showed off the gruesome journey it took to get there.

Hours prior to the team’s Sunday Night Football showdown with the Minnesota Vikings at Detroit’s Ford Field, Anzalone, 30, posted a picture via his Instagram Story of his broken forearm post-surgery.

“Everyone wants to be a dog, until you have to do some dog s—,” Anzalone wrote alongside a picture of his stitched-up left arm.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Anzalone has a metal plate under the scar on his forearm. Anzalone underwent surgery one week after he sustained the injury.

He returned to the lineup on Sunday, six weeks after surgery, to help the Lions defeat the Vikings 31-9 and earn the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC and a first-round bye in the playoffs. They also clinched the NFC North division for the second season in a row.

“Any time you get hurt or deal with adversity, mindset-wise it’s an opportunity to grow,” Anzalone told reporters after the game. “I feel like I’ve grown in different ways. You get the game taken away from you, and when you come back, it’s a blessing to play again.”

After missing the Lions six previous games, Anzalone said the win over the Vikings was “a statement.” Detroit head coach Dan Campbell praised his returning linebacker for the jolt his presence gave the team.

“His return was huge,” Campbell, 48, told reporters. “Look, I’ve said it before, he’s really our quarterback on defense. There’s a lot of confidence he brings, a lot of energy. He can calm the storms. I thought it was going to take him a minute to work himself back in, and it didn’t take long at all. He was back to what he was before he got injured.”

When Anzalone returned from the game, he shared a message his wife, Lindsey Anzalone, had written on a dry erase board for him.

“Welcome home!” Lindsey wrote, in a photo Alex posted via his Instagram Story. “We are so proud of you!”

Alex captioned the photo, “My why ❤.”

The couple, who got married in June 2019, share two children: son Cooper, 3, and daughter Carter, 14 months.

After their first-round bye, Anzalone and the Lions will return to action during the NFL Divisional Playoffs, which kick off Saturday, January 18, as Detroit attempts to win their first Super Bowl in franchise history.

Hairstylist Claims Skip Bayless Offered $1.5 Million to Have Sex: Report

Fox Sports Hairstylist Says Skip Bayless Offered Her 15 Million to Have Sex With Him

Sports media personality Skip Bayless has been accused of repeatedly harassing a former Fox Sports hairstylist, allegedly offering her $1.5 million to have sex with him.

In a lawsuit filed on Friday, January 3 in Los Angeles and obtained by Front Office Sports, Noushin Faraji — who was an employee of Fox Sports from 2012 through August 2024 — says the behavior began when she started working on FS1’s Undisputed, which Bayless cohosted alongside Shannon Sharpe from 2016 to August 2024.

Bayless allegedly made the money offer to Faraji after she told him she had ovarian cancer in an attempt to ward off his advances. In response, Bayless said he could “change” her life.

“The more you say no the more I want you,” Bayless told Faraji, according to the suit.

During her time on Undisputed, Faraji claimed Bayless would give her “lingering hugs and kisses on the cheek while putting his body against hers and pressing against her breasts.”

Faraji, who is a single mother, claimed she told Bayless multiple times she was not interested and did not “date at work.”

In addition, Faraji alleged Bayless made an offensive remark about her background when she attempted to thwart his actions.

“Mr. Bayless made another advance at Ms. Faraji,” the lawsuit states. “Ms. Faraji responded: ‘Skip, stop, you have a wife.’ Mr. Bayless responded: ‘Aren’t you Muslim? Doesn’t your dad have three to four wives?’ Ms. Faraji responded that her father was dead, and when Mr. Bayless looked taken aback, she made an excuse to leave.” (Bayless has been married to Ernestine Sclafani since 2016.)

According to the lawsuit, Faraji made multiple complaints to the Human Resources and Employee Relations departments while working at Fox.

In a statement to Front Office Sports, Fox Sports said, “We take these allegations seriously and have no further comment at this time given this pending litigation.”

Us Weekly reached out to a lawyer and representatives for Bayless for comment.

Undisputed was canceled in August 2024, though no mention of inappropriate conduct by Bayless accompanied the announcement. Faraji says she was fired by Fox Sports shortly after the show’s cancellation.

At the time, Bayless said he had been “planning to pursue other opportunities for several months. I had a great 8-year run with a lot of great people at Fox, but now I’m excited for what’s coming up. Stay tuned.”

“Despite Ms. Faraji being an excellent hairdresser and continuously being requested by talent, she was shrunken down to how much she could appease Mr. Bayless, and once Mr. Bayless was gone, so was her job,” the lawsuit says.

NBA's Kevin Durant Says ESPN's Stephen A. Smith Has 'Always Been a Clown'

The lawsuit also claims that Bayless accused Faraji of having sex with Sharpe, 56, Bayless’ former Undisputed cohost.

Faraji alleges that Bayless apologized for the accusation about Sharpe in 2023, acknowledging it was untrue.

Sharpe himself responded to the lawsuit Sunday, January 5 on his “Nightcap” podcast.

“That ain’t got nothing to do with me,” Sharpe said. “It doesn’t. What do y’all want me to say? That ain’t got nothing to do with me. So, there’s nothing to address.”

Dax Shepard Catches Fans Trying to Identify Him and Kristen Bell

Shepard and Bell were both born in suburban Detroit, but the two didn’t meet until they both moved to Los Angeles. They got married in October 2013 and share two daughters: Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 10.

While it was a successful night for the Lions — they defeated the Vikings 31-9 to earn the No. 1 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye in the playoffs — the same couldn’t be said for Bell and her show Nobody Wants This

Bell lost the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy to Hacks star Jean Smart, and Hacks also beat out Nobody Wants This for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

Adam Brody, Bell’s costar on the Netflix series, also lost Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy to The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White

Bell and Shepard have long professed their love for their hometown sports teams. In 2017, Bell discussed her fandom of the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show

Why Ted Danson Called Dax Shepard About Kristen Bell and Adam Brody's Kiss

“Everybody was obsessed with hockey, so [during] my high school career nobody cared about Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise,” Bell explained. “As a young girl, I had posters of [Red Wings players] Darren McCarty and Chris Osgood and all those guys.”

She continued, “They were all Gods to me. I wore a tag on my shirt in high school that said Mrs. Osgood. I was really trying to live the secret and put it out there. I was like 16. I was like, ‘Maybe if I just wear it on my heart, he’ll know.”

Days before attending the Golden Globes together, Bell gave a special 50th birthday shoutout to Shepard on Thursday, January 2, which included a couple of rare photos of their daughters.

“Happy birthday to the most affectionate 220 lbs man that ever existed,” she shared via Instagram. “I cannot imagine life without you 💚💕.”

Why Patrick Mahomes Isn't Playing in the Chiefs' Regular Season Finale

Patrick Mahomes was kept out of the Kansas City Chiefs regular season finale against the Denver Broncos.

Mahomes, 29, did not play in the Sunday, January 5, game after the Chiefs secured the No. 1 seed in the AFC and home field advantage throughout the playoffs after their 29-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day.

With the game rendered meaningless from a standings perspective, the Chiefs decided not to risk having their superstar starting quarterback take any snaps.

In his place, veteran backup Carson Wentz started the game at Denver’s Empower Field at Mile High.

Patrick Mahomes Says Coach Andy Reid is Too ‘Skinny’ to Dress Up as Santa

“I’ve been through that before, so I’m not too worried about all that,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters on Wednesday, January 1 about sitting Mahomes. “It gives the other guys an opportunity here to grow and you can use everybody.”

Reid, 66, added, “The primary thing is to make sure that we stay sharp in all areas through this game and for the upcoming weeks … We want to stay sharp mentally and physically and then that’s our responsibility to do that and how we manage the time. I make sure I do that practice-wise and the guys go out, players and coaches, and work on that.”

Wentz, 32,  only attempted two passes this season as Mahomes’ backup, but said he was ready to meet the moment.

“I’m going to prepare to go out there and win and then have a good performance with this offense,” Wentz told reporters on Wednesday.

He continued, “I think it would be tremendous just getting reps. Obviously preseason is helpful, but that was even limited and seems like another lifetime ago already. This will definitely be helpful if needed in whatever capacity down the stretch there in the playoffs. But quite frankly, I’m just excited to get out there and play ball.”

The break also provides Mahomes the opportunity to continue healing an ankle injury he sustained in the Chiefs’ December 15 game against the Cleveland Browns.

NFL Legend Mark Schlereth Blames Andy Reid for Patrick Mahomes’ Injury

Mahomes left the game in the fourth quarter after being dragged down from behind by Browns defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson while simultaneously being hit high by Browns defensive tackle Mike Hall

He was later seen being transported on a golf cart inside Cleveland’s Huntington Bank Field and was initially questionable for the Chiefs game against the Houston Texans on December 21.

Mahomes would ultimately start that game and throw for 260 yards, scoring both a passing and rushing touchdown in the 27-19 victory.

The Chiefs will open their quest for a historic third consecutive Super Bowl when the NFL Divisional Playoffs begin on January 18.
