Jennifer Love Hewitt has been a bonafide Hollywood starlet since the 1990s — and she’s opening up about the unrealistic expectations that come with being in the spotlight for decades.

“I feel like fans pick this age that they love that they think represents you, and you’re never supposed to grow beyond that,” Hewitt, 45, told Fox New Digital in an interview published on Thursday, December 26. “For me, it was like me and my 20s. People seem to have a really hard time accepting that I don’t look that way anymore.”

While Hewitt started her acting career at a young age on Kids Incorporated, she had her first big break at 16 years old when she landed the role of Sarah Reeves on Fox’s Party of Five. Two years later, she became a global sensation with 1997’s slasher hit I Know What You Did Last Summer and its subsequent sequel. She has since starred in shows like Time of Your Life, The Client List and Ghost Whisperer, and released four studio albums.

While some may have had trouble watching her evolve over the years, Hewitt — who shares kids, Autumn, 11, Atticus, 9, and Aidan, 3, with husband Brian Hallisay — sees aging as a beautiful thing.

“Age is age,” she explained. “I think women really come into this acceptance of themselves and comfortability in their 40s that is beautiful.”

These days, she stars as Maddie Buckley on ABC procedural 9-1-1 and just released The Holiday Junkie, a TV film which she directed and starred in.

“It’s hard because I think as humans, we want to evolve,” she continued. “We want to have lines on our faces, and you know our boobs be lower from breast-feeding our children, or, you know, our butt’s bigger.”

However, Hewitt is only human, and can’t help but occasionally notice trolls’ comments on social media.

“Whatever it is, you just want to have the freedom to be whoever you are at that age,” she explained. “And it’s hurtful sometimes when people reject you as you are verbally on Instagram or the internet because they’re having a hard time adjusting to it.”

The criticism reached a boiling point last year when Hewitt posted a photo of herself with no makeup, leading to claims that she was “unrecognizable.” She addressed the photo on a December 2023 episode of Michael Rosenbaum’s “Inside of You” podcast.

“The picture ended up somewhere. And a bunch of people were like, ‘Jennifer Love Hewitt is unrecognizable,'” she said. “’She’s unrecognizable and so she’s gone to filters because she doesn’t want us to know how bad she actually looks now in her 40s.’ And I was like, ‘This is crazy.’ Right?”

From Home Alone to Harry Potter and Gremlins to The Goonies, Chris Columbus has a laundry list of major film credits as a director, writer or producer. Christmas Vacation could have been part of his bio as well.

Columbus, 66, told Vanity Fair in an interview published Monday, December 23, that he had started working on the 1989 National Lampoon film when, after meeting with Chevy Chase, he decided he could not go through with it.

“I was signed on … and then I met Chevy Chase. Even given my situation at the time, where I desperately needed to make a film, I realized I couldn’t work with the guy,” Columbus said of the film’s star.

Chase, 81, played Clark Griswold, patriarch of the Griswold family, who is determined to have a perfect Christmas with his wife and two kids. Naturally, a series of comical miscues throughout the movie threatens to derail the family’s holiday.

Columbus described his awkward first meeting with Chase, which he called “the most surreal, bizarre thing.”

“I talked about how I saw the movie, how I wanted to make the movie. He didn’t say anything,” Columbus claimed. “I went through about a half hour of talking. He didn’t say a word. And then he stops and he says — and this makes no sense to any human being on the planet, but I’m telling you. I probably have never told this story. Forty minutes into the meeting, he says, ‘Wait a second. You’re the director?’ And I said, ‘Yeah … I’m directing the film.’ … He said, ‘Oh, I thought you were a drummer.’”

Fans noted that Chase could have been referencing the jazz musician of the same name, who died in 2002.

The two met again, this time with John Hughes, the film’s writer, also present. The trio sat down for dinner and, according to Columbus, Hughes and Chase talked for two hours about everything but the film.

“I left the dinner and I thought, ‘There’s no way I can make a movie with this guy. First of all, he’s not engaged. He’s treating me like s—. I don’t need this. I’d rather not work again. I’d rather write,’” Columbus recalled.

Columbus informed Hughes of his decision and said the writer was understanding. It worked out, too, because the next weekend, Hughes sent him another script.

“I got another script from John — and it’s Home Alone,” Columbus said. “Home Alone, for me, was even more personal, a better script. And I thought, ‘I can really do something with this, and I don’t have to deal with Chevy Chase.’”

Home Alone came out the next year, and although it received mixed reviews at the time, it has turned into a Christmas classic, grossing $476.7 million at the box office and spawning a sequel two years later.

As 2024 comes to a close, King Charles III reflected on the past year, which included health struggles for him and his daughter-in-law Princess Kate Middleton.

“All of us go through some form of suffering at some stage in our life, be it mental or physical,” he added. “The degree to which we help one another — and draw support from each other, be we people of faith or of none — is a measure of our civilization as nations. This is what continually impresses me, as my family and I meet with, and listen to, those who dedicate their lives to helping others.”

Sosa, 56, hit 609 career home runs, good for ninth on the MLB all-time list. But as dominant as he was, his legacy has been tarnished by accusations that he used steroids, particularly during the famous 1998 home run chase where he and Mark McGwire of the St. Louis Cardinals both broke what was then the single-season home run record.

McGwire finished that season with a then-record 70, while Sosa hit 66. He retired in 2007 and, because of his suspected use of performance enhancing drugs, is not in the Hall of Fame.

“I understand why some players in my era don’t always get the recognition our stats deserve,” Sosa said in a statement on Thursday, December 19.

“We’re paying the fine. You can’t ban greatness,” the company said in a statement to Us Weekly.

A representative for Jordan Brand added that it is doing for Hurts what Nike did for Michael Jordan 40 years ago when he violated the league’s dress code by wearing his Air Jordans.

“Nike paid the fines and the game hasn’t been the same since,” the rep said.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts learned that the hard way after one of the Air Jordan cleats he wore during his game on Sunday, December 15, was the wrong shade of green. By NFL rules, players must wear cleats that match the team’s colors.

In Philadelphia’s 27-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Hurts, 26, wore one Kelly green cleat, matching his Eagles jersey, and one cleat that was a much lighter shade.

The quarterback is one of Jordan Brand’s highest-profile NFL athletes. He has made it a habit to wear multiple pairs of Jordan cleats during a single game, often switching at halftime, rather than wearing cleats from two separate pairs at the same time.

That one cleat cost him a $5,628 fine, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.

The amount was the negotiated fine for a first offense, as outlined in the league’s collective bargaining agreement. A second offense would cost Hurts $16,883.

For most, a four-figure fine would be a strong deterrent. But Hurts is in the middle of a five-year contract that pays him an average of $51 million per year—and that’s before bonuses and endorsements. That means, at minimum, the first offense cost him about 0.01 percent of his annual salary.

Boxer Tyson Fury has trained tirelessly for his upcoming fight with Oleksandr Usyk, and it’s taken a toll on his personal life.

Luke Ford, who served as Brad Pitt’s body double in the 2013 action film World War Z, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison by the High Court in Edinburgh.

Ford, 35, was found guilty on 19 charges against women, which included violence, abuse and threats. He was also found guilty on a charge of stealthing, which is “defined as not using a protective condom without a partner’s knowledge or consent, which is rape,” according to a statement from prosecutors.

“Ford is a dangerous and manipulative sexual predator,” Scottish Police Detective Inspector Steven Gray said. “I hope that knowing he is now behind bars for his crimes helps them continue to move forward with their lives.”

He was convicted in May 2023 of “rape, attempted rape, multiple assaults and being in possession of extreme sexual abuse images,” according to Scotland police. He has also been added indefinitely to the country’s sex offender registry.

Ford’s alleged stealthing victim testified against him in court, saying she was “shocked and upset” at what happened after the two met on Tinder in 2017.

“I would not have had sex with him without a condom,” the victim said. “I asked him to leave. I felt completely violated.”

“He genuinely thought he was going to be the next Brad Pitt,” one of Ford’s victims told STV News, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “I think there were multiple stunt doubles, but the way that he spun it, it looked like he was Brad Pitt’s one-and-only stunt double.”

The felony drug case against Sean “Diddy” Combs’ alleged drug mule Brendan Paul has been officially dismissed seven months after he managed to avoid jail time by entering a six month drug diversion program.

“Mr. Paul’s case was formally dismissed today — in its entirety.” Paul’s attorney Brian Bieber said in a statement to Us Weekly on Tuesday, December 17.

Paul, 25, will instead enter a drug diversion program, which is expected to last around six months.

“Brendan accepted the prosecutor’s offer to permit his entry into the diversion program which, after completion, the case against him will be dismissed in its entirety,” his attorney, Brian Bieber, told Us Weekly in a statement.

Paul’s hearing, initially scheduled for Friday, May 17, has been canceled.

Paul was arrested on March 25 at Opa-Locka Airport in Miami and was charged with cocaine and marijuana possession, though the marijuana charge was eventually dropped. Paul’s arrest came the same day the Department of Homeland Security raided Diddy’s two homes, though it has not been confirmed whether the two incidents are connected. Paul, a former Syracuse men’s basketball player, was named as Diddy’s “drug mule” in Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones’ $30 million lawsuit against the music mogul.

Jones claimed he “personally witnessed” Paul acquiring and distributing drugs to Diddy, 54, as well as his entourage. Those drugs allegedly include “ecstasy, cocaine, GHB, ketamine, marijuana, mushrooms and tuci.”

The lawsuit also alleged Paul transported or intended to transport drugs in airplane baggage on flights between Los Angeles, Miami, Virginia, the Caribbean and London three times in December 2022, April 2023 and November 2023.

The same lawsuit accused Diddy of sexual assault and harassment stemming from the time Diddy and Jones worked together, from September 2022 to November 2023.

Diddy’s attorney Shawn Holley denied the accusations in a statement to Us in April.

“Lil Rod is nothing more than a liar who filed a $30 million lawsuit, shamelessly looking for an undeserved payday,” Holley said. “His reckless name-dropping about events that are pure fiction and simply did not happen is nothing more than a transparent attempt to garner headlines.”

Jones is among multiple people who have accused Diddy of sexual misconduct. Diddy asked a judge on May 10 to dismiss a 2023 lawsuit in which a woman alleged she was sex-trafficked and gang-raped by Diddy in 2003.

Diddy denied the allegations in a statement to Us.

“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy,” he told Us in a statement. “Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday.”

Scott Bagwill was ready to go under the knife for his bariatric surgery, but at the last minute, a complication arose that put the procedure in jeopardy.
