Beyonce and Jay-Z's Daughter Blue Ivy Is Growing Up: Photos Over the Years

With Beyoncé and Jay-Z as parents, Blue Ivy was born into music royalty when she arrived in January 2012.

“Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful,” the couple wrote in a statement at the time. “We are in heaven.” They went on to write that the little one was “delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of” their lives. (Beyoncé and Jay-Z went on to welcome twins Sir and Rumi in 2017.)

Blue Ivy began following in her parents’ famous footsteps at a young age, as Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, exclusively told Us Weekly in November 2018 that Blue Ivy had been performing “since birth.”

Earlier that year, Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, called Blue Ivy “a star,” telling Us that Blue Ivy shares a lot of traits with her mother and aunt. “[Blue Ivy] reminds me a lot of Beyoncé and Solange [Knowles] when they were that age,” he explained in April 2018. “I can see [them in her].”

Mathew went on to state that he will support Blue Ivy “in anything and everything,” as long as she is passionate about it. “’If it is your passion, then you have a huge chance of being successful. It can’t be what I want or what your mother and father want. It needs to be what you want to do,’” he said. “So if that was [her] passion, absolutely, I would be all for it.”

Blue was born in New York City.

One week after Beyoncé gave birth, her Destiny's Child bandmate Michelle Williams said the multiplatinum singer and her husband had "already settled into their role of being parents, and it's just awesome to see."

"We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support," the couple wrote in their birth statement.

Hip-hop heavyweight Jay Z was so overwhelmed by Blue Ivy's arrival that he immediately recorded "Glory," a touching song about the couple's struggle to conceive and the joys of parenthood.

The pairfiled an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to protect their daughter's name. The A-list musicians intend to use Blue Ivy as a potential brand name for a line of baby products, including carriages, diaper bags and baby cosmetics.

Beyoncé has fully embraced motherhood, even the less-than-glamorous aspects of it. "I love changing diapers," she told Anderson Cooper in 2012. "I love it. I love every moment of it, it's so beautiful. I love it all!"

Beyoncé’s love for her baby girl is as deep as the ocean is blue. The “Love On Top” singer posted this snap of herself exchanging a loving look with baby Blue Ivy, then 11 months, aboard what looks like a boat in December 2012.

Happy feet! Though the couple are hesitant about letting their little girl get too exposed in the media, they have no problem sharing touching intimate snapshots like this one on Beyoncé's Tumblr blog.

Jay Z reportedly dropped major money to make sure that wife Beyoncé and their baby could stay nearby while he worked the stage at Brooklyn's new Barclays Center. "Jay rents a luxurious basement suite for $1 million a year," a source told Us. "It has an area for Blue filled with toys."

The verdict was out about which of her musical parents baby Blue looked more like, but R&B crooner Melanie Fiona said the little gal is the spitting image of Jay Z. "Beyoncé says Blue changes every day and looks just like Jay now," Fiona told Us.

Relive the Kardashian-Jenners' Christmas Eve Parties Through the Years

Oh, what fun it is to attend a Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve party!

The famous family is known for throwing an extravagant bash every year, a tradition matriarch Kris Jenner passed down to her kids. Kim Kardashian even cried when Kris gave her the baton during a June 2019 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

“I want you guys to be able to do this until you’re my age and one of your kids takes over. That’s the joy,” Kris told Kim at the time. “It’s just the thought of actually not doing at my house. … I’m getting emotional. It makes me sad. It does. It makes me so sad. It’s just that magic that you can make, and make everybody feel so amazing on one night a year. It’s that love. … It’s not just a party. It’s changing of the guards.”

After getting her mom’s “blessing,” Kim went on to explain her decision to take over the party planning.

“Our Christmas Eve party was always this fun party that I just remember being friends and family and my grandparents and cousins. It was just the best night ever,” she shared in a confessional. “But my mom’s been doing it for so long that it’s turned into something different. It’s kind of a party just for my mom and mostly her friends. We want it to be a place that we can just have fun and it’s all of our friends and definitely family and my mom’s friends, too. But a good mix of both so we can have a good time and really just enjoy each other.”

Scroll down to take a look back at some of the family’s most iconic Christmas parties over the years:

According to Khloé, Kendall was the host of the family’s 2024 Christmas Eve get-together. “I didn’t get to make it to the Christmas Eve party, which was a bummer,” she explained in a post-Christmas Instagram Story video, noting that her kids, True and Taum, were both dealing with sickness during the holidays. “But it wasn’t really a party this year. It was just us hanging out at Kendall’s house. But still, I missed being with my family.”
Despite the event being toned-down compared to years past, Kendall dressed in a chic, white silk dress while playing the role of hostess. Kim’s eldest daughter, North, filmed a handful of TikTok videos during the gathering, including one of her and Kim singing along to Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me.”

Kim kicked off the festivities with a winter wonderland theme which included a performance from Babyface, an area for guests to slide down a hill of snow and various other Christmas traditions.

Khloé announced in December 2020 that due to COVID-19 cases “getting out of control” in California, the family decided not to host their annual party. It will be the first time since 1978 that the family has not thrown a big bash for the holiday.

Kourtney hosted the 2019 celebration, which included a performance by Sia. Kim shared photos of the party via her Instagram Stories, calling the décor “homey,” “woodsy” and “cute.” The sisters all wore gorgeous gowns for the night and Kylie Jenner’s daughter matched her with a custom dress from Ralph & Russo.

Celebrity guests, including Hilton and Jennifer Lopez, enjoyed a hot dog stand, sledding, a John Legend concert and an Instagram-worthy light tunnel. Jenner gushed over the party on Larsa Pippen’s Instagram Story.

'Bachelor' and 'Bachelorette' Babies: Which Stars Have Given Birth

Bachelor Nation couples have produced their fair share of adorable babies over the years, from Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici to Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum.

Lowe met and fell in love with Giudici while starring on season 17 of The Bachelor. Nearly two years after the duo tied the knot in January 2014 in California, they announced that their first child was on the way. Their son Samuel arrived in November 2017, followed by son Isaiah and daughter Mia in May 2018 and December 2019, respectively.
