Love Island USA’s Belle-A Walker is speaking out after fellow contestant Cierra Ortega abruptly left the villa amid a resurfaced post in which she used a racial slur.

“As a proud Asian American woman, I’m deeply appreciative of the Love Island USA producers for taking a stand and making it clear that racism of any kind is not tolerated,” Belle-A, 22, shared via her Instagram Story late Sunday, July 6, after Cierra’s departure was announced during the latest episode.

“When I first saw what my fellow Islander said on their social media pages, I was incredibly heartbroken,” Belle-A continued. “But I wanted to wait until they left the villa and were able to address the situation, genuinely apologize, and commit to learning from the experience before deciding how our relationship would look moving forward.”

However, she wrote, “As screenshots continued to surface, it became clear that I could no longer support this person, and made the decision to unfollow them a couple of days ago.”

“Asian hate is oftentimes overlooked and dismissed. “Just like so many other Asian Americans, my mom immigrated here to create a better life for her and her future family. Knowing the hardships she and so many others have faced, I could not be silent any longer,” she wrote. “Because what good is this amazing platform God and you all have given me if I don’t use it to amplify the voices of my community?”

Belle-A concluded her post, “I do not condone bigotry or racism of any kind. But I also don’t condone hate either. Please think twice before leaving unkind comments to or about this person.”

Cierra’s departure from the reality dating show was confirmed by narrator Iain Stirling during Sunday’s episode. Stirling said Cierra had “left the villa due to a personal situation,” meaning that her love interest Nic Vansteenberghe was “officially single.”

Nic originally coupled up with Belle-A at the start of season 7, however, he later opted to couple up with bombshell Cierra, 25, and Belle-A was dumped from the island on day six.

In a statement shared via her Instagram Story on Sunday, Cierra’s parents addressed the controversy surrounding her resurfaced posts and asked viewers for grace, noting that Cierra has not yet seen the backlash to her historic social media activity.

We understand why people are upset, and we know accountability matters,” the reality star’s parents wrote, in part. “What’s happening online right now has gone far beyond [accountability]. The threats. The cruel messages. The attacks on her family, her friends, even her supporters, it’s heartbreaking. It’s uncalled for. No one deserves that kind of hate.”

“She hasn’t had the chance to process any of this or speak for herself,” they wrote. “But we know our daughter. We know her heart. And when she returns, we believe she’ll face this with honesty, growth and grace.”

The post concluded with Cierra’s parents requesting viewers have “compassion” and “patience” until she is able to address the controversy.

As central Texas faces ongoing devastation due to flash flooding, celebrities are using their voices to spread awareness and inspire support.

While Shakira donated concert proceeds taken from her Saturday, July 5, show to the Catholic Charities of San Antonio for subsequent disaster relief, Jennifer Garner, Khloé Kardashian, Matthew McConaughey and other stars took to social media to encourage similar assistance.

With Kerr County declared a state of emergency by President Donald Trump on Sunday, July 6, the floods began in the early hours of Friday, July 4, when waters swept through Texas Hill County to push the Guadalupe River up by 26 feet in just 45 minutes.

As of the late hours of Sunday, more than 82 people died as a result of the extreme weather event including at least 28 children in Kerr County alone, where a Christian summer camp resulted in a string of youth fatalities.

Among the loss of life within Camp Mystic was a nine-year-old cousin within Kansas City Chiefs owners’ Clark Hunt’s family. Clark’s wife, Tavia Hunt, reacted to the heartbreaking news via an Instagram Story shared on Sunday evening.

The singer, who performed in San Antonio’s Alamodome on Saturday, shared an X post detailing her support while encouraging fans to demonstrate their own. “San Antonio, Our hearts and prayers are with those affected by the flood in Central Texas,” Shakira wrote at the time. “We are donating a portion of tonight’s show proceeds to Catholic Charities of San Antonio, who are providing disaster relief to the families impacted.”

The Yes Day actress called on God to help those affected by the Texas floods. She shared a simple message via an Instagram Story on Sunday. “Texas … God, be near,” Garner wrote, concluding her plea with a red heart emoji.

Matthew McConaughey

The actor penned a moving message of support via his Instagram Story on Sunday. “At least 70 lives have been lost, many more unaccounted for, and countless Texans are hurting – inside and out” McConaughey wrote at the time.

He continued, “If you’re able, please lend a helping hand where and how you can. It’s gonna be a long road ahead, but right now the shock, the pain, and the chaos need the steady hand of a neighbor. Texans are some of the most resilient and generous people on the planet.”

Khloe Kardashian

The reality star shared her heartbreak via an Instagram Story posted on Sunday. “I can’t stop thinking about the families in Texas and the overwhelming pain they’re going through right now,” she wrote alongside a broken heart emoji. “As a mother, this kind of tragedy hits in a place words can’t reach. The loss of those sweet, innocent children is something I can’t fully process, there are just no words for this.”

Kardashian continued, “My heart is so deeply aching for every parent, every family member, and every community. Please know that so many of us are carrying you in our hearts right now and I’m praying with everything I have in me for those still missing. Texas, we are holding you close.”

The author took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday to share a photo of the devastation within Texas. Captioning the photo with a broken heart emoji, she also listed a link to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund to encourage her followers to donate where possible.

Reposting a photo originally shared by radio host Anne Hudson that depicts a group of girls enjoying their time at Camp Mystic, Curtis included the photo’s caption, which read, “This entire cabin of sweet girls and their two counselors washed away… Several bodies have been recovered, several are still missing. Praying hard that they find survivors and praying extra hard for the families who are living a parent’s worst nightmare.”

Miranda Lambert

The Texan native urged fans to think about animal welfare amid the weekend’s devastation. Sharing an Instagram video of herself on Saturday, Lambert told the camera, “I can’t even come up with any words for the loss that everybody’s suffering.”

The singer added that her non-profit MuttNation charity “is jumping in to support, and if you’d like to join us please support our fundraiser.”

Hilary Duff

Taking to Instagram in the late hours of July 6 to address the flash floods, Duff sent support to her home state. “Heartbroken doesn’t begin to cover it. Consumed. Obsessed. Praying for even a shred of a miracle — to find a child alive in the wake of this boundless disaster,” Duff wrote. “Tears fall every time I imagine one of these families receiving bad news … waiting … or entire families lost. Just gone. It’s just too much to comprehend.”

The singer continued, “Beautiful Texas, I love you. To all the boots on the ground — I love you,” before touching on her own Texas camp memories from childhood.

“I was — and forever will be — that girl with a wild hearted, fierce love for my barefoot summers at camp in the Texas Hill country,” she wrote. “It imprints on your soul. It changes your identity. One year after confirming she found love with fellow Love Island alum Theo Campbell, Olivia Kaiser is pregnant with the pair’s first child.

The Love Island USA season 3 winner, 33, took to Instagram on Sunday, July 6, to reveal her exciting news. “Our sweetest little secret … we’ve been enjoying some time off the grid — embracing the quiet, the love, and the magic of what’s to come,” Kaiser wrote alongside a carousel of snaps taken during a recent maternity photo shoot. “Now it’s time to let you in on the journey… our little one is arriving soon.”

The post included 13 photos of Kaiser and Campbell, who served as a castoff during season 3 of Love Island UK, embracing their special time — and one another — in a lush field beside a tranquil lake. One shot also featured a board that revealed the child’s due date, with its text reading, “Our little adventure begins Dec 2025.” (An additional Instagram Story posted hours later confirmed that Kaiser’s due date is December 5, making her just “shy of five months pregnant.”)

Taking to their daughter’s Instagram Stories in the late hours of Sunday, July 6, “Cierra’s parents” shared a lengthy post that addressed the resurfaced racist post that resulted in Cierra leaving the villa.

“As Cierra’s parents, this has been one of the most painful weeks of our lives,” the post began. “We’ve seen the posts, the headlines, the hurt and the hate. And while Cierra hasn’t seen any of it yet, we have. And so have the people who love her.”

In the weeks leading up to the episode, multiple social media users spotted Cierra’s controversial past post, which included a racially offensive slur. Once the post spread on social media, Cierra’s friend MJ Hedderman addressed the resurfacing via Cierra’s Instagram account.

“Hi guys, I see your comments concerning someone I love and care about. I want to be clear that I do not condone racism, bigotry or hate in any way shape or form, nor was I aware of the recent screenshots until they were posted,” MJ’s Instagram Story from Friday, July 4, read. “I discovered it at the same time as all of you did.”

In addition to MJ’s response, Cierra’s other friend Johnnie Olivia also took it upon herself to address her friend’s old post. “I’m sure many of you have noticed that I’ve refrained from talking about Love Island and have stopped publicly supporting my friend on the show. This was after I saw a post involving a racial slur for the first time,” Johnnie wrote via an Instagram statement released on Friday. “I loved supporting her during her time on the show, but once I came across that post, I felt it was necessary to take a step back.”

As for action on the Island, Sunday’s episode showed that in Cierra’s absence, Nic rekindled his connection with Olandria Carthen and they ended up recoupling ahead of the season’s final week.

During the Sunday, July 6, episode of the Peacock series, narrator Iain Stirling revealed that Cierra “left the villa due to a personal situation,” leaving partner Nic Vansteenberghe “officially single.” This came as a surprise to some viewers but the scandal was brewing for days leading up to Cierra’s departure.

Eagle-eyed social media users caught wind of Cierra’s past post, which included an offensive slur, as season 7 was filming. As a result, her social media handler and friend MJ Hedderman took “a step back” amid the drama.

“Hi guys, I see your comments concerning someone I love and care about. Multiple cast members from this season faced backlash for resurfaced posts after entering the villa. Islanders are sequestered while filming Love Island USA and in order to keep them focused on finding a match, they have no contact with the outside world until they officially leave. That is when they retrieve their phones and catch up on how the public reacted to their time on the show.

Yulissa Escobar was the first Islander removed from the villa earlier this season. Her departure came after clips of Yulissa using racial slurs on a podcast circulated online.

“I had gotten called to the front and then I met one of the producers and they asked me to take my mic off,” she explained in a July TikTok. “I figured something serious was kind of happening. I honestly got scared. I thought something happened with a family member. They didn’t really tell me anything. They just said that a video resurfaced on the internet and it’s not looking too good. I didn’t really know what video or what I was saying or what I did.”

She continued: “I didn’t get my phone back for another two days. They were waiting for the two episodes that I was in to air. I was literally in my hotel room losing my mind because I didn’t know what was going on. I just knew that there was a video out there. I get it. I said a word that I should have not said. But I wish I would have never said that. It is what it is. I can’t go back in time. I am sorry that I said that word.”

Austin Shepard was the other cast member who apologized for his online posts.

Austin added, “It was never my intention to hurt or upset anyone. I value and respect all individuals and their perspectives.”

Fellow season 7 contestant Jeremiah Brown recently revealed how the Islanders who are still filming usually learn about someone’s surprise exit.

“They personally never told me anything. They never told us in the villa,” he said during the “Speedy Morman” show on Monday, June 30, about Yulissa being gone. “They said she left for personal reasons — I can say that. I found out later after getting my phone back that it was because of whatever happened.”

The family of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt is grieving the loss of a nine-year-old cousin who died amid flooding in Texas over the weekend.

According to FOX 4, Janie Hunt died after Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp in Kerr County, became flooded due the catastrophic weather event.

Clark’s wife, Tavia Hunt, took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, July 6, to comment on the news. “Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic loss of so many lives — including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friend’s little girls,” Tavia, 53, wrote.

CNN reported on Sunday that the flash floods have killed more than 82 people, per information received from “state and local officials.”

The outlet noted that Kerr County officials relayed that crews “are continuing to search for 10 campers and one counselor from Camp Mystic” which was “swamped by flood waters.”

That same day, FOX News reported that camp director and co-owner of Camp Mystic, Dick Eastland, also lost his life as he “raced to save the lives of his young campers.”

Per a report published by the New York Post on Sunday, Janie was the great-granddaughter of the late William Herbert Hunt, who was brother to the late Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt. Lamar Hunt was Clark’s father.

The NY Post also reported that this was the first time Janie had attended Camp Mystic and that five girls “along with the camp’s director” are among the flooding’s fatalities.

Just one hour prior to Tavia’s Instagram Story that addressed Janie, Tavia revealed that her family donated half a million dollars to emergency services and resources aiding flood relief.

“Our hearts are heavy as we witness the devastation and loss of life caused by the floods in Kerr County and Texas Hill County, especially for the young girls and their families, as well as all of those lost and their loved ones,” Tavia wrote. “We hold everyone impacted in our thoughts and prayers. Standing side by side with The Salvation Army’s critical response, we are also donating $500,000 to provide immediate resources for rescue, relief and long term recovery efforts.”

As of Sunday night, six counties have been affected by flash flooding, with 68 deaths recorded in Kerr County, six deaths recorded in Travis County, three deaths recorded in Burnet County, two deaths recorded in both Kendall County and Williamson County, and a single death recorded in Tom Green County.

Social media influencer and powerlifter Stefi Cohen was reportedly arrested on grounds of domestic violence battery.

According to a report published by TMZ on Sunday, July 6, Cohen, whose full name is Stefanie Cohen Magarici, was arrested on Wednesday, July 2, “on a domestic violence battery charge.” The outlet did not state which city the arrest allegedly took place in.

Us Weekly has reached out to a representative for Cohen for comment.

Amid the report, Cohen’s Instagram account shared a post during the Fourth of July weekend which featured video footage of Cohen instructing fans on pain management methods.

The reported incident comes after the Miami-based influencer, who boasts more than 1 million Instagram followers and also claims to be a doctor of physical therapy via her Instagram bio, was allegedly arrested in May 2024 on “multiple criminal charges,” per CBS News who reported on the events at the time.

CBS News stated that Cohen, 33, faced charges of “sexual cyberharassment and resisting an arrest after she allegedly hacked her ex-boyfriend’s computer to leak another woman’s nude photos.”

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet at the time, the incident occurred in November 2023 after the ex-boyfriend and a woman turned up to the Miami-Dade Police Department headquarters to allege that Cohen had gotten into her ex’s laptop “after guessing “commonly used passwords” to log into his iCloud account and obtain sexually explicit photos of the woman and sharing them across various group chats.”

The pair returned to the headquarters in April 2024 to “provide additional information.”

The outlet noted that when authorities “found Cohen” walking along a street one month later, she “didn’t comply and began to walk swiftly away from the arresting officer, saying that she was heading home and going to call her current boyfriend so she could pick up her dog.”

The alleged altercation then became physical, per the outlet’s review of the affidavit, with Cohen failing to follow officer commands and beginning to “physically resist her arrest” which allegedly involved trying “a leg sweep the officer while in handcuffs and even broke the locking mechanism in the police car she was later placed into.”

Cohen was reportedly released from county jail one day later.

According to Cohen’s Instagram bio, she holds 25 world records in powerlifting. She also appeared on a February episode of the “Movement Optimism” podcast, which described her as “an accomplished physical therapist, strength coach, author and pro boxer.”

NFL player KaVontae Turpin has reportedly been arrested on weapon and drug charges.

ESPN reported that Turpin, 28, was arrested in Texas on Saturday, July 5, and booked into the Collin County Jail. The Dallas Cowboys player was reportedly charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of less than 2 oz. of marijuana.

Online jail records reviewed by Us Weekly show that Turpin was released from jail on Sunday, July 6. He was reportedly released from custody on $1,500 bail.

After a breakout season in the 2022 USFL spring football league, Turpin was signed by the Cowboys. He received Pro Bowl honors in his first season in the NFL, becoming the first Cowboys player ever to be selected to the Pro Bowl as a designated return specialist.

Turpin signed a three-year, $18 million contract in March, according to DallasCowboys.com. While sharing a photo of Turpin smiling as he held a pen, the official Cowboys Instagram account celebrated the news at the time. “The fastest player in the NFL is staying in Dallas ,” the caption read.

The NFL player also sent a message to his fans in a video. “KaVontae Turpin here with the Cowboys. I just wanted to say shoutout Cowboy nation, resigning. Here for another three years, man. Hit the ground and get it running,” he said.

Turpin previously played for Texas Christian University, before the school cut ties with him after previous run-ins with the law. In 2019, NBC 5 Dallas-Forth Worth reported that Turpin pleaded guilty to assault charges in an October 2018 incident. According to the outlet, Turpin was sentenced to two years of deferred adjudication probation and a 27-week abuse intervention program.

Turpin had previously also been arrested in New Mexico in March 2018 for alleged assault, including a battery charge. He pleaded not guilty to the battery charge, per ESPN. Turpin was later dismissed from Texas Christian University.

“The football staff was aware there was an incident in New Mexico, but not that charges included an alleged battery,” Texas Christian University said in a statement at the time, per ESPN. “The publicly available information they reviewed at the time only showed a charge related to property damage. We did not know until yesterday that his legal issues were unresolved.”

Years later, Turpin reflected on his past. “I learned I got to learn from my accountability, my consequences,” Turpin said in a 2022 meeting with reporters, per NBC 5 Dallas-Forth Worth. “I’m just looking forward to becoming a greater man now.”

Kelley Wolf is embracing her next chapter after her divorce from Scott Wolf.

Twin sisters Tia and Tamera Mowry are ringing in their shared birthday by celebrating each other.

On Sunday, July 6, Tia shared three photos featuring herself, her sister and their brothers Tajh and Tavior via Instagram. “And just like that we are 47,” she wrote.

Tamera also noted the big day on social media via a series of collages and throwback photos of herself and Tia shared on Instagram.

“Happy 47th birthday to my twin, Tia! It’s crazy to think we’ve been doing life together for 47 years,” she wrote “From the silly moments to the tough ones, you’ve always had this determination to keep going and growing — no matter what life throws your way.”

We invite everyone to our house that maybe doesn’t have a place, their family is not around. We bake cookies and we have a little, it’s not like a big party, but a get-together.”

She added, “Every Christmas, we invite our entire family. This year my sister’s invited, my brothers, my mom, my dad, pretty much everybody in the family. And we make Christmas beef. It usually ends up being a roast beef with mashed potatoes, green beans. Those are some of the staples, with a Christmas drink that I look for. We just get together and enjoy each other.”

Shakira is reaching out to help the victims of and families devastated by the ongoing floods in central Texas.

“Dear San Antonio, Our hearts and prayers are with those affected by the flood in Central Texas,” Shakira wrote on X on Saturday, July 5. “We are donating a portion of tonight’s show proceeds to Catholic Charities of San Antonio, who are providing disaster relief to the families impacted.”

At least 70 people have died after flash floods consumed Texas Hill Country over the holiday weekend. Rescuers attempted to assist as many people as they could along the banks of the Guadalupe River, where water levels rose rapidly while many residents were sleeping. A dozen children are missing from Camp Mystic, a children’s summer camp located in the area at the time of the flood.

Of those 70, at least 59 are residents of Kerr County. The deceased include 38 adults and 21 children. At the time of publication, 11 girls and one counselor are still presumed missing from the camp. While Kerr County is considered the epicenter of the flooding, some of the victims lived in other parts of the state, including Burnet County, Tom Green county, Travis County, and Williamson County.

President Trump declared a state of emergency for Kerr County on Sunday, July 6.

The flooding happened after the river broke its banks following a period of rapid and intense rain, Reuters reported. Officials have been able to rescue more than 850 people, including some that found refuge in trees, the news outlet also noted.

According to Reuters, approximately 700 girls were attending Camp Mystic at the time of the floods.

“Our cabins at the tippity top of hills were completely flooded with water. I mean, y’all have seen the complete devastation, we never even imagined that this could happen,” counselor Katharine Somerville said in an interview on Fox News on Sunday. She added that all of her campers were safe and accounted for.

Photos from the scene show that water rose at least six feet from the floor in the cabins where the girls were sleeping, and some of the cabins are now missing walls that presumably washed away.

Brooks Nader has proved time and time again that she’s just like Us.

After being eliminated from Dancing With the Stars season 33, Nader reunited with former partner and ex Gleb Savchenko while he was on the road for the show’s live tour — and got candid about the logistics of fitting two people in a twin bed. (Us Weekly confirmed in April 2025 that Nader and Savchenko had called it quits on their whirlwind romance.)

“He was so funny because we were in the one twin bunk or whatever on the bus and he, the night before, was like, ‘I’ve been practicing how I’m going to sleep with my arms up like a sliver just so that you could have room,’” she told People in February 2025. “And he slept on the edge so that I didn’t fall off. What a gentleman. Chivalry. Get you a man who sleeps on the edge of the tour bus bed.”

Later that year, Nader suffered a wardrobe malfunction at Wimbledon when she unexpectedly started her period while wearing a long white skirt. Nader shared a TikTok video at the time of her wearing a cap-sleeve black blouse with the skirt, spinning around to show a small blood stain. “Tries to be chic,” Nader wrote at the time. “Starts at Wimbledon.” She added in her caption, “Of course #wimbledon.”

Surviving an Embarrassing 1st Date

Nader opened up about her first date with Billy Haire, whom she ultimately married in 2019, at a restaurant in New York City. (Us confirmed in 2024 that the pair had separated.)

“I ate like my first bite of sushi — he already had everything ordered—and I sprinted to the bathroom and I was projectile vomiting everywhere,” she said to Sports Illustrated Lifestyle in November 2022. “Because I got really sick, I had a stomach disease that I didn’t know about.”

Nader continued, “The waitress went back to the table and said, ‘Your date’s in the bathroom having a really rough time.’ Didn’t specify throw up or what it was. Then I sprinted out of the date and he thought that I just didn’t like him, and that was my way of getting out of it. But I did like him at the time, and I do now. There were many dates after that — he was totally hooked after I sprinted out throwing up.”

Navigating Life After Divorce

Nader shared that she repurposed her engagement ring after being spotted wearing the jewelry on her finger.

“This is my divorce ring,” she told People in December 2024. “A 9-carat offset pear on a simple gold band — that I designed with my longtime jeweler, Ring Concierge. Why should guys have all the fun? It’s my way of celebrating the next chapter of my life. Women deserve to buy themselves something fabulous just because, so why not a sick divorce ring?!”

Sleeping in Bunk Beds

While visiting Savchenko on tour, Nader revealed that her sisters “made so much fun” of her.

“They were like, ‘You have things to do. You have shoots. What are you doing sleeping in a bunk?’ And I did. I slept in the bunk with them for one night on the road. I wanted to be a road dog for a night. And I went to one of the shows and it was so much fun,” she told People in February 2025. “I’ve always wanted to sleep on a tour bus for a night, and we fit great in that bunk. It was so cozy!”

Suffering Sister Squabbles

She publicly got into it with her sister when Grace Ann revealed on a May 2025 episode of the “Chicks in the Office” podcast that Nader and Savchenko would frequently have sex on the Dancing With the Stars set.

“Every time I visited Brooks’ trailer — [it] was shaking every single time,” Grace Ann said at the time. “I never wanted to go in there. I was always knocking. He was always at our house, it was just a lot. So, I think it was very real.”

In the aftermath of that reveal, Nader quipped to Us that she hadn’t spoken to her sister since the interview.

“I don’t plan to speak to her ever again, maybe. Although, it’s hard because we’re filming a show together. Lemme check back in with you in a few weeks and tell you how that’s going,” she said, referring to the sisters’ Love Thy Nader Hulu show. “That was crazy. She’s in trouble [and] she’s in the dog house — big time.”

Normalizing Period Stains

As Nader displayed her small blood stain on her long white skirt at Wimbledon in July 2025, her followers praised her candidness. When one user joked that the incident happened “the one time” she chose to wear “something non-sheer and maxi,” Nader replied, “LITERALLY. Back to sheer.”

On Sunday, July 6, the singer shared a sweet black and white video of himself playing with his son, Jack Blues. In the post, Justin smiles and caresses his son as Jack Blues rolls around on the floor.

Justin’s posts have ranged from hints at alleged drug use and anger problems (in March he wrote, “I hate myself sometimes when I feel myself start to become inauthentic”) to issues with photographers, such as when he told a group, “You don’t get to disrespect me and get away with it” in June.

And though Hailey and Justin are still together, the tension has been a lot for her to bear. The first source explained, “Justin’s been a hard person to deal with recently because of what he’s going through. Hailey is the stable parent and the one keeping their family together. It’s been really hard on her.”

Her husband’s apparent downs have taken a toll on how Hailey operates. “Things have been very tense in the last month. Hailey’s worried about Justin, especially with a [baby at home]. He hasn’t been down like this in quite some time, so there’s concern,” the source added.

Glen Norris is breaking down the lyrics behind a song he wrote in honor of his late grandson Preston Ordone, known as “Okay Baby” online, after his death at age 2.

“After finding out my grandson Preston passed, I found myself questioning how this could happen,” Norris wrote over a TikTok video on Saturday, July 5. “In the midst of my grief, God gave me the words for this song. If we had it our way … you’d still be here with us. But we thank God for giving us the opportunity to meet again in heaven.”

While the video played several clips of Preston through the years, lyrics from the track ran over the clip: “Now that he’s home, he’s probably dancing around your thrown [sic]. And I can almost hear him say … ‘OK.’”

News broke in April that Preston died in a single-vehicle car crash while with his parents, Katelynn and Jaelan Ordone. His parents survived, while Preston’s 7-year-old sister, Paisley, was at school at the time.

The Louisiana State Police shared at the time that an investigation was underway, including a routine toxicology test of the driver. Authorities claimed that the driver and front passenger of the vehicle were both “properly restrained,” while Preston was “seated in the rear” and “improperly restrained in a child safety seat.” Norris, for his part, disputed the claims.

The next month, Us Weekly confirmed that the toddler died from “blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle crash.” Preston’s death was ruled accidental, the St. Tammany Parish coroner’s office shared at the time.

Days later, Katelynn shared that she and Jaelan have “no memory” of the accident. Katelynn also alleged that the couple hired an “independent accident reconstruction expert” to review the incident.

“According to the vehicle’s black box data, the vehicle was traveling at 70 mph before decelerating and making a right turn, impacting at approximately 60 mph,” Katelynn wrote via Instagram in May. “Preston was properly secured in a two-piece, 360-degree car seat positioned behind the passenger seat.”

She continued, “He was removed from the vehicle still securely fastened and brought to the side of the road by bystanders — this occurred before any emergency vehicle arrived at the scene. Witnesses shared that it appeared to take at least 15 minutes for first responders to arrive, at which point Preston was still secured in his car seat and handed over to them.”

Katelynn claimed that the report confirmed that the car seat base “was properly installed and belted in,” however, the pair have since learned of a different issue.

“There appears to have been an issue with how the seat attached to the base: the locking pins were stuck in the engaged position, which may have prevented the seat from fully securing to the base,” Katelynn said. “After learning this, we further researched this particular car seat and discovered the issue has been reported by others as well.”

Katelynn noted that the cause of the accident is “believed to have been the result of a medical emergency, which is consistent with the vehicle’s deceleration and steering behavior.”

“We deeply appreciate the continued prayers and support as we navigate this unbearable tragedy,” she concluded. “We are grateful for the continued prayers. Our only source of strength right now is our faith and the hope we have in God. We can’t imagine walking through this without the assurance of eternal life and then peace that comes from knowing this truth.”

Later that month, Katelynn shared that her dad wrote a “beautiful song” for Preston. She added, “We miss you every second of every day. #prestonforever #okaybaby.”
