Kim Kardashian Graduates From 4-Year Law School Apprenticeship

Kim Kardashian is officially one step closer to her dream of being a lawyer.

The Skims founder has finished her four-year law school apprenticeship, and she celebrated on Wednesday, May 21, with a surprise graduation party in Beverly Hills, a source tells Us Weekly. Kardashian, 44, thought she was attending a “regular family brunch” before friends and family surprised her with the celebration.

“They are all excited and proud of her and wanted to surprise her to celebrate this accomplishment,” the insider says. “Her law mentors are also surprising her, and she has no clue they will be there.”

According to the source, Kardashian also passed the multistate professional responsibility exam, which is a 60-question multiple choice test that serves as a prerequisite to the bar exam. Once she passes the bar, she will be allowed to practice law in California.

Kim Kardashian Says She’s Taking the Bar in February 2025

Kardashian has been open about her goal to become a lawyer, first dropping the news in an April 2019 interview with Vogue. By then, she was already knee deep in her studies.

“First year of law school you have to cover three subjects: criminal law, torts, and contracts,” she said at the time. “To me, torts is the most confusing, contracts the most boring, and crim law I can do in my sleep. Took my first test, I got a 100. Super easy for me. The reading is what really gets me. It’s so time-consuming. The concepts I grasp in two seconds.”

The journey has not been easy. Kardashian finally passed the “baby bar” exam in 2021 after failing three times. She even took the test once with COVID-19 and a fever.

Kim K. Jokes About 'Retiring' From Reality TV to Be Full-Time Lawyer

“I know my dad would be so proud and he would actually be so shocked to know that this is my path now but he would have been my best study partner,” she said at the time. Her father, Robert Kardashian, was OJ Simpson’s attorney during his 1995 trial. He died in 2003 after a battle with esophageal cancer.

“I am told he was notorious for making fun of people who didn’t pass on their first attempt like he did, but he would have been my biggest cheerleader!” she added.

As for what Kardashian will do if and when she ultimately passes the bar, she has her sights set on criminal justice reform.

“I’m very passionate about criminal justice reform and I want to advocate for those who I feel they were wrongfully convicted,” she told Hong Kong Vogue in April 2022. “I dream of one day creating a successful law firm.”

'The Punisher' Made Eye Contact With Diddy for 1st Time During Trial

After testifying about his attendance at alleged “freak offs” during Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial, exotic dancer Sharay “The Punisher” Hayes claims that he made direct eye contact with the disgraced music mogul.

“I felt confident leaving the courtroom. I did look at him directly,” Hayes said on the Wednesday, May 21, broadcast of Piers Morgan Uncensored. “There was no intense stare or whatever. He kind of acknowledged me [and] I acknowledged him, and that was it.”

He added, “That gave me relief because, again, testifying is something I don’t have a choice in, and I felt that I told the truth based on my involvement without any bias, without influence of opinion, ideology, and I’m at peace with that.”

Hayes took the stand on Tuesday, May 20, alleging that Diddy, now 55, hired him to participate in freak off parties with the rapper’s then-girlfriend, Cassie, over a dozen times.

Who Is The Punisher? 6 Takeaways From His Diddy Testimony

“[During the trial] was literally the first time I had eye contact with him in such a powerful moment that is really life or death for him,” Hayes claimed on Wednesday.

Diddy was arrested in September 2024 on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has denied all allegations against him and pleaded not guilty.

“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Diddy’s lawyer Marc Agnifilo told Us Weekly in a statement at the time. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal.”

When Hayes gave his witness testimony, he claimed that Cassie, now 38, revealed her partner would eventually join them for a so-called “sexy scene.” At the time, Hayes did not know he would be involved with the “Me & U” singer and Diddy. (Cassie and Diddy dated on and off for 11 years until they called it quits for good in 2018.)

Male Escort Testifies He Was Hired for a Dozen Diddy Freak Offs

“I was specifically told not to acknowledge her husband,” Hayes claimed on the stand, alleging that he was paid $800 in cash when he met Cassie (full name Casandra Ventura) in the hotel.

Hayes further alleged that a nude man wearing a veil, whom he later presumed to be Diddy, pleasured himself in the corner of the room while watching Hayes and Cassie together. He was paid an additional $1,200 at the end of the half-hour visit.

“His face was completely covered to the extent that you could only see his eyes,” Hayes further recalled to host Piers Morgan. “[Cassie] initially said they were married, I was searching [on Google] for married couples [to try and find out who they were]. … At some point, he took off the [face] covering anyway and started wearing a baseball cap.”

Jennifer Garner's Best Motherhood Moments While Raising 3 Kids

Jennifer Garner has portrayed many memorable roles over the years, but none as loving as her role as a mom to her and her ex-husband Ben Affleck’s three kids.

The former couple tied the knot in June 2005 and started growing their family that same year. Violet arrived in December 2005, followed by Seraphina and Samuel, in 2009 and 2012, respectively.

Following the exes’ 2015 split, Garner and Affleck have been coparenting their brood. “It’s always a work in progress,” a source told Us Weekly exclusively in February 2020 of their dynamic.

“Things come up between them, but they are committed to doing the best they can for the kids,” the insider went on to tell Us. “They stay on top of things and have a lot of meetings and check-ins. They want to be the best parents they can for the kids. If they have differences, they keep it to themselves and don’t let it have an impact. They always put on happy faces for the kids and put their well-being first.”

Garner moved on with Cali Group CEO John Miller after she and Affleck finalized their divorce in October 2018.

“I have chilled out and stopped trying to be my mom,” Garner said in an interview with Katie Couric. “I can’t really complain about my kids. They’re pretty awesome. They humor me.”
Later that month, Garner joked to Jimmy Fallon that her kids think she “kill[s] the fun” at home. “I am so lame. I say, ‘No,’ to everything,” she quipped. “[My kids] call me the dragon. They have all these names for me."

"I am really thinking about my kids and what their experience is going to be,” the actress said of homeschooling her three kids during the coronavirus pandemic in an Instagram Live video. "They’re so lucky. … We have broadband, we have excellent teachers who can teach over Zoom — that is one in a million possibility in this world — and yet, it’s also a depressing one.”

Violet made a rare public appearance alongside Garner at Joe Biden’s White House state dinner. She looked all grown up in a long, black V-neck gown, which complemented her mother’s dress of the same color. While Garner sported her hair down, Violet pulled hers up in a sleek bun and paired the look with red heels and a pair of clear glasses.
“The White House State Dinner last night felt like a dream. Thank you to @potus and @flotus for including me in the magical and elegant evening celebrating the friendship between US/ France with gracious President @emmanuelmacron and First Lady Macron,” Garner captioned pics and clips from the evening via Instagram, though none featured Violet. “My lovely date and I will remember it always.”

“Working moms … get all freaked out because we’re told constantly, ‘You have 18 summers, you have this much time … Time is fleeting,’” she said of motherhood struggles in an interview with Access Hollywood. “It makes you panic, and my mom has always said to me, ‘You're their mom forever. Don’t worry, you can do your job … your kids are gonna be so proud of you.’”
She added, “If you come from a place of expansiveness instead of feeling just like, ‘I can’t be a mom because I’m also working and I’m supposed to be guilty all the time,’ you better just lean into wherever you are, any day, right now, just be there when your kids show up and we’ll have a great time.”

Garner celebrated Violet’s high school graduation by sharing funny photos of herself crying before and after the ceremony via Instagram. “Tell me you have a graduate without telling me you have a graduate. 🎓 (bless our hearts 🥺♥️🤣),” she captioned the pics.

In an essay for Yale University’s student-run Yale Global Health Review, Violet revealed she “spent the January fires in Los Angeles arguing with my mother in a hotel room.” She noted that Garner was “shell-shocked” and “astonished at the scale of destruction in the neighborhood where she raised myself and my siblings.”
Violet wrote that she was “surprised” by Garner’s level of shock at the disaster and said her brother asked her whether global warming had a role to play in the fires. “Hopefully, most of us understand the climate crisis better than my little brother,” she said.

Kourtney Kardashian Says She Doesn't Know Why Kids Go to School

Kourtney Kardashian says she prefers to go “against the grain” when it comes to living life and raising her kids.

While a guest on her sister Khloé Kardashian’s podcast “Khloé in Wonder Land,” Kourtney opened up about parenting 18-month-old son Rocky — who she shares with her husband, Travis Barker — her three kids with ex Scott Disick: 15-year-old Mason, 12-year-old Penelope, and 10-year-old Reign.

“I think living authentically is not conforming to whatever it is,” Kourtney explained. “For me, there’s ways we function as a family that it’s like, if someone does the same thing every day, like, I do it with everything, it’s not (just) about our family.”

Kourtney is also the stepmother of Barker’s kids. The musician is dad to son Landon, 21, daughter Alabama, 19, and his stepdaughter Atiana, 25, all of whom he shares with ex-wife Shanna Moakler.

“Let’s say the school system. I’ll think, ‘Why do kids f****** go to school?’ Truly, it’s so dated,” Kourtney continued to Khloé. Although she didn’t go into details about why she feels getting a traditional education is “dated,” it was an example Khloé was on board with.

“Oh, I’m such a homeschool person, so don’t even get going,” she agreed.

Kourtney Kardashian and More Stars Embrace the Gentle Parenting Trend

“So then I’ll start thinking, and then like, you know, my kids will send me videos about, like, ‘Why do kids go to (school)?’ It’ll be like, really successful people, and they’ll be like, ‘My kids never go to school and they’re never going to’ and whatever,” Kourtney said. “And then I’m like, ‘OK, what’s the goal here? You want to do homeschool? Let’s do it.’”

Kourtney said the same goes for her more holistic approach to dealing with common sicknesses as well.

“I think it’s anything, I will, like, nurse the fever of my kids versus giving Tylenol or ibuprofen. Like, I just, like, want to do that. And whatever, whatever it is, there’s so many things like that where I feel like I kind of do, maybe in the world, generally, maybe does more of what I do, but in the United States (it’s different.)”

Former President Joe Biden’s Cancer Battle: A Complete Timeline

Former President Joe Biden has begun his battle with what his office called an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” a statement sent from Biden’s personal office to CNN in May 2025, read. “On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”

The 46th president left office in January 2025, ending a 54-year career in public service that began on his county council in his home state of Delaware. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1973, where he served until 2009, when he was sworn in as Vice President under President Barack Obama.

After eight years as vice president, Biden was elected president in 2020, taking office the following year at age 78 — the oldest for an incoming president in U.S. history. Though he initially decided to run for re-election, he dropped out of the race in 2024 amid public scrutiny around his health.

His diagnosis was met with well wishes from politicians on both sides of the aisle and the former president posted his appreciation for the outpouring of support via X days later.

“Cancer touches us all,” he wrote above a selfie he snapped with his wife, Dr. Jill Biden. “Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”

Biden’s most recent prostate cancer screening before his diagnosis came while he was in his second term as Vice President, a Biden spokesperson confirmed to USA Today on May 20.

Because prostate cancer tends to move extremely slowly, it is not recommended that men over 70 get routine screenings.

Joe Biden and Jill Biden’s Relationship Timeline

2021

Ten months after Biden took office, his personal doctor, Kevin O’Connor, announced that he removed a three-millimeter polyp during a colonoscopy. He said it was “benign, slow-growing, but thought to be a potentially precancerous lesion for which no further action is required at this time.” O’Connor also wrote that he believed the President was fit to continue in office.

2023

O’Connor announced in March 2023 that he had removed a cancerous skin lesion the previous month.

“All cancerous tissue was successfully removed. No further treatment is required,” he wrote. “Basal cell carcinoma lesions do not tend to ‘spread’ or metastasize, as some more serious skin cancers such as melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma are known to do.”

Revisiting Jessica Simpson's Last TV Performance Before 'American Idol'

Jessica Simpson made a much-discussed return to perform on TV during the American Idol finale after a nearly 15 year hiatus.

Before gracing the American Idol stage in May 2025, the last time Simpson, now 44, performed live on TV was for the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony in New York City in November 2010. Simpson took the stage with Navy Petty Officer John Britt to perform a duet of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

Simpson donned a black coat dress that sparkled with rhinestone embellishments. She completed the look with black tights, boots and a fur scarf. Simpson also wore crystal snowflake earrings and hair clips to give her look a pinch of holiday cheer. Britt, for his part, was in uniform.

While on the chilly outdoor stage, Simpson belted the first portion of the holiday ballad. Britt crooned the next part, which earned a round of applause from the crowd. As Britt wowed the crowd, Simpson gave him an encouraging smile. Simpson then delivered the song’s big note as the soldier harmonized with the pop star. When the song came to an end, the crowd roared with cheer.

Jessica Simpson Says She ‘Was Never Going to Win’ Against Britney Spears

Days before taking the stage at the tree lighting, Simpson made an appearance on a PBS special explaining her involvement with the United States Navy.

“Every year I try to go somewhere to visit our troops. This year, I went to the Persian Gulf and I was aboard the USS Truman,” she explained. “I had the pleasure of sitting and talking with so many sailors that sacrifice their lives for us everyday.”

While there, Simpson had the idea to perform a holiday duet with one of the military members.

“Every time the holidays come around, I think about all the men and women who serve our country. I went out to the Persian Gulf and I wanted to sing a song with one of the sailors,” she recalled. “I chose to sing ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas’ because I know every soldier and sailor out there is wishing that they could be home with their families for Christmas.”

Simpson’s performance with Britt was the last time she took the stage on TV for 15 years. Simpson made her comeback during the American Idol finale on Sunday, May 18. Ahead of taking the stage, host Ryan Seacrest noted that this was Simpson’s first TV appearance in 15 years.

Jessica Simpson Through the Years: Photos

She sang her new track “Blame Me” and her iconic cover of Nancy Sinatra’s 1966 hit “These Boots Are Made for Walkin,” which she first recorded in 2005 for the Dukes of Hazzard soundtrack. Simpson was joined by contestant Josh King, who was eliminated earlier in the season.

While the crowd gave Simpson a roaring round of applause, she confessed to Extra that she was extraordinarily “nervous” to take the stage given her long hiatus.

“Oh my god, I was dying … That’s a really long time, and, like, the last time was a Christmas song, so that’s easy,” Simpson told the outlet after the episode. “So, this is my new EP Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1, I mean, Pt. 2 comes in the summer, but it is so much a part of my soul, and so to sing a song off of that I felt naked, to be honest, like, it was very bare and raw and very vulnerable.”

Shemar Moore's Shocking 'S.W.A.T' Spinoff Drama Explained Amid Cast Backlash

S.W.A.T. receiving a spinoff after multiple cancellations should have been good news, but why has the decision — and specifically Shemar Moore — faced backlash for it?

The procedural faced its fair share of battles to remain on the air since it premiered in 2017. Six seasons were put out on CBS before S.W.A.T. was picked up for a seventh and final season. CBS ultimately reversed that decision and S.W.A.T. returned for season 8. But the celebration didn’t last long — the network canceled the show for a second time in March 2025.

S.W.A.T seemingly came to an end two months later when the series finale aired on CBS. Days later, Sony Pictures Television picked up a spinoff titled S.W.A.T. Exiles which is set to star Moore and a new SWAT unit.

The decision to revamp the cast didn’t sit well with viewers who tuned in week after week because of their favorite characters. Moore, however, defended the decision to only keep his character Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson.

Which 'S.W.A.T.' Stars Are — And Aren't — Returning for Surprise Spinoff?

“Nobody likes change. I understand that. I get it 100 percent. But without change, you can’t grow. You can’t win without taking your lumps,” Moore explained in an Instagram video that same month. “It ain’t easy making it in the game of Hollywood. It ain’t. TV shows don’t last eight years anymore. The game has changed. But S.W.A.T. Exiles, baby! S.W.A.T. Exiles. Bigger, bolder. S.W.A.T. on steroids.”

Moore compared the creative shakeup to playing football.

“I’m not saying I’m Tom Brady, but I’m the Tom Brady of S.W.A.T. That’s not arrogant. That’s not ego. It’s a fact. I’m the quarterback. I’m Shemar Moore a.k.a Hondo,” he continued. “But I had a squad. A strong squad. A family. A team. And I would be remiss If I didn’t say out loud to the world and to them — because I know they’re watching this — I love you. I respect you. I appreciate you.”

Despite the controversy, Moore remained hopeful about S.W.A.T. Exiles.

“I’m excited that S.W.A.T. gets to keep playing ball. I’m excited that the crew gets to put food on their table and money in their accounts, and go to soccer practice and put their kids through the right schools. Saving jobs, working here in L.A., keeping Hollywood in L.A. This is a big deal,” he continued on Tuesday. “Yeah, a little bit bittersweet in some ways — but man, at the end of the day, we got to be so proud. We got to be so proud because we did the damn thing. The world took notice. And the industry took notice.”

Moore concluded: “Shows get cancelled all the time, but S.W.A.T. just won’t die because y’all love S.W.A.T. You all love that crazy action. You love the stories. You love the brotherhood, the sisterhood, all of that. That’s who we are. That’s who S.W.A.T. is. Thrill ride with heart. So, on this day, we celebrate, but we pay homage to what got us there and to the people that got us there, and I will never forget. Always appreciate, and always show love.”

Which TV Shows Got Canceled Multiple Times Before the Decision Stuck?

The Key Players

SWAT Receives Spinoff After Cancellations
Bill Inoshita/Sony Pictures Television/CBS

Based on the 1975 TV show and 2003 film adaptation of the same name, S.W.A.T. centered around the Los Angeles Police Department. Moore has led the series since it premiered on CBS in 2017 but the rest of the cast has evolved and changed over the years.

The last season of S.W.A.T., which wrapped onscreen two days before the spinoff was announced, also starred Jay Harrington, David Lim, Patrick St. Esprit, Anna Enger Ritch, Annie Ilonzeh and Niko Pepaj.

Despite everyone’s efforts to bring the show back, Moore was the only one announced as a main cast member in the upcoming spinoff. S.W.A.T. Exiles will pick up after “a high-profile mission goes sideways, Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits.” Moore’s character must “bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.”

Moore initially reacted to the 10-episode continuation of S.W.A.T., saying in a statement, “My eight seasons on S.W.A.T. have been epic and memorable. We entertained the world, defied the odds, came back from the dead twice, and continued to woo fans and families worldwide.”

He continued: “I am excited for this next generation and iteration of S.W.A.T. with Sony. Katherine Pope, Neal H. Moritz, Jason Ning, and I will keep the franchise, thrill ride action, heartfelt drama, and storytelling of S.W.A.T. alive. WE DON’T LOSE!!!! ROLL SWAT!!!”

Social media users, however, pointed out that only Pepaj acknowledged Moore’s video about the news. Everyone else shared behind-the-scenes photos while celebrating the S.W.A.T series finale at CBS. Since then, it has been largely silent from the rest of the cast as Moore celebrated his new project.

Moore’s comments section was flooded with questions about why no one else was announced for the spinoff. Moore broke his silence by defending the decision, saying, “That’s my family for life, OK? But just like in sports, Tom Brady might be the quarterback, but people get traded. Tight ends get traded, the running back gets traded, the receivers get traded.”

According to Moore, the priority was bringing S.W.A.T. back — with him at the helm after he originated the series. “But the team keeps on pushing with their quarterback, and I’m that guy,” he said. “So proud, so grateful. I’m not going to apologize for nothing. Busted my ass for 31 years to do what I do, and I’m excited about the future.”

S.W.A.T. fans were quick to point out in the comments section of Moore’s post that the rest of the cast from the CBS series made the show what it was. Most of Moore’s costars have yet to publicly acknowledge him expanding the S.W.A.T universe solo.

Before news of S.W.A.T. Exiles broke, Ilonzeh spoke with Us Weekly about their attempts as a group to revive the series.

“We are crossing our fingers. So there is a particular discussion being had. I hope I can say [soon] that we really did it. We rallied for a third time,” she shared in April 2025 while reflecting on her time playing Gamble. “But we’re making noise. They do see it — producers and streamers that are interested — they are like, ‘OK, this is something.’ So if we can plug and play, we’re all geared up to go. We don’t want this ride to be over.”

Ilonzeh acknowledged that if S.W.A.T. was brought back again, it would be the show’s last battle to stay on the air.

“I was just talking to [my costar] Shemar [Moore] yesterday and he was like, ‘If we do this for a third time — whenever we do get canceled again — I will be OK with it. I’m not fighting for a fourth [time] because we really did it and we end on that,'” she noted. “We will end on the fight and the win and relish in all of this and squeeze the life out of it. We will know that we did it, we did our job and we can walk away happy campers.”

Sony Pictures Television picked up S.W.A.T. Exiles for a 10-episode order but there is no official premiere planned yet. According to the press release, Sony is “focusing on finding the right homes and partners for these new stories to reach the passionate S.W.A.T. fanbase and attract new viewers.” Development is currently underway and production is scheduled to begin in summer 2025 in Los Angeles and once the spinoff is filmed, it will be shopped around.

Haylie Duff Reflects on Making Movies With Sister Hilary '20 Years Ago'

Sisters Haylie and Hilary Duff have come a long way since their days as material girls — but they have nothing but fond memories of their early years in the spotlight.

During the Tuesday, May 20, red carpet premiere of Lifetime’s Pretty Hurts, Haylie, 40, confirmed that she provided the singing vocals for Isabella in her sister’s The Lizzie McGuire Movie that came out in 2003. Hilary, 37, reprised her titular character from the Disney Channel series of the same name and also played her Italian pop star doppelgänger. The duo sing “Hey Now (What Dreams Are Made Of)” in the film’s finale.

“Yes, I was. You mean, 20 years ago?” Haylie quipped to Entertainment Tonight of singing Isabella’s part of the song, before noting her disbelief that the siblings’ Material Girls celebrates its 20th anniversary next year. “No way!”

She added, “Maybe one day, [my daughter Ryan] will sit and watch Material Girls and get a kick out of that.”

Lindsay! Selena! Disney Stars Through the Years

Haylie and Hilary played sibling heiresses in 2006’s modern teen adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. In the film, Ava (Haylie) and Tanzie (Hilary) face a shocking reality when they lose their family fortune during a scandal involving their eponymous cosmetics company.

In the years since Material Girls, Haylie has transitioned her career behind the camera and directed the likes of the upcoming Pretty Hurts, while Hilary still works as an actress.

Haylie and fiancé Matt Rosenberg also left their Los Angeles home base with daughters Ryan, 9, and Lulu, 7, to settle in Austin, Texas.

“We were ready for a little more space and we love it there,” Haylie told ET on the red carpet. “We love, like, our friends there, and [Ryan’s] school is there. We come back to L.A. all the time. We still look at L.A. as home in so many ways.”

Hilary Duff Wants to Eventually Revive Her Music Career, Praise Be

Haylie further stressed that, while she and Hilary hail from the Lone Star State, both Ryan and Lulu are native California girls.

“Both my [daughters] were born here. A lot of my family is still,” Haylie added, presumably referring to Hilary and her four children. “It’s weird because Austin has become a little, mini L.A. in a lot of ways — and the flight is so short that’s, sort of, like this bizarre middle ground between L.A. and New York.”

She continued, “It doesn’t feel like we left. We come here a lot for work, and so, we get my Texas roots blended with pop on a quick flight whenever we want.”

Haylie and Rosenberg have been engaged since April 2014, never putting pressure on tying the knot.

“We’re busy with both of the kids and jobs, and we always say, ‘We will at some point,’ and then life continues to be busy, and we still really like each other, which is good, I guess,” Haylie previously told Us Weekly exclusively in April 2020. “At some point we will, but certainly now is not the time to have a wedding.”

Hallmark’s Nikki DeLoach Recalls Her Son’s ‘Life and Death Crisis’

Hallmark actress Nikki DeLoach will never forget her first days of being a mom to her son Bennett.

“He had four congenital heart defects and without immediate intervention, he was not going to survive,” DeLoach, 45, exclusively shared with Us Weekly at the Children’s Heart Foundation’s Congenital Heart Walk on Sunday, May 18. “At five days old, Dr. Vaughn Starnes at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles — one of the world’s top pediatric heart surgeons — saved his life.”

Bennett’s health scare, however, wasn’t resolved with just one important surgery. At 12 months old and 18 months old, DeLoach’s “heart warrior” had additional heart procedures.

Now, he’s preparing to turn 8 years old and is able to play soccer, the piano and excel at school.

Hallmark Star Nikki DeLoach and Husband Ryan Goodell’s Relationship Timeline

“I grew up in this industry and had my first job at, like, eight years old,” DeLoach — who also shares Hudson, 11, with husband Ryan Goodell — recalled to Us from Griffith Park in Los Angeles. “And when you grow up in this industry, we think, ‘This is it.’ It’s our everything, until you face a life and death crisis with your child. Then you realize that there is nothing that matters more than our health and our ability to not just be alive, but to thrive in our lives.”

According to the Children’s Heart Foundation, congenital heart defects are America’s most common and deadly birth defect, with nearly 40,000 babies born with CHD each year in the United States.

DeLoach has vowed to use her platform to raise awareness for more research and to remind families affected that there are plenty of reasons to hope.

“I see [my son] on a playground, and I know for most parents that’s a given, but that’s not a given for parents of children with congenital heart defects,” she said. “Get your child’s heart checked. … I hope by the time I take my last breath in this world that it will just be a part of the screening of every newborn. When they are born, they get their ears checked, their eyes checked, everything else and their hearts. It sounds like a no-brainer to me.”

Although many years have passed since DeLoach was first introduced to the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit or the CTICU, she still remembers the emotions she felt waiting for good news from health care workers.

During those critical surgeries and waiting periods, DeLoach said she relied on her faith and countless friends who showed up for months with food, smoothies, hugs and support.

“Parents are just as much heart warriors as the children,” she said. “It is such a hard thing to go through a life and death crisis with your child.”

Regardless of what health scare a child may face, DeLoach urges parents to be advocates for their youngest family members.

While the Hallmark star said she was raised in the South “to be seen and not heard,” everything changed when Bennett faced a difficult diagnosis.

A Guide to Hallmark Channel’s Leading Ladies

“Your job is to advocate for your child throughout the entire process, to ask for what you need, to speak up whenever you don’t understand something and to protect your child at all costs,” she said. “You have to learn how to become empowered in your own body and in your own mind and in your own heart and be your voice for that child.”

Along the way, DeLoach discovered that once she did it for her child, she could do it for countless others who need to be heard.

“What you’ll realize is if you could do it for your child, you can begin doing it for your community, for your country, for whatever is right,” she said. “And we can do it with kindness and compassion.”

Ariana Madix Breaks Down All the Work She’s Had — and What She Just Tried

Ariana Madix is breaking down all the work she’s had done.

The Vanderpump Rules star, 39, opened up about the cosmetic procedures she’s tried – and is staying away from — during a Monday, May 19, episode of Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast. During the episode, Madix shared that she had recently tried her “first laser treatment” to help with skin laxity.

“I’ve been very interested in that for a long time. I keep things at a minimum,” she explained, noting she wasn’t concerned about developing fine lines.

“That’s why we started on the lasers,” she said, promising to keep her fans updated on how she’s liking the treatment. “I will report back after I’ve had all the things.”

Ariana Madix's Boyfriend Shuts Down 'Love Island' Surgery Speculation

For the uninitiated, laser treatments can help stimulate cellular regeneration to improve the skin’s appearance.

The Dancing With the Stars alum added that she gets Botox “every six months or so” and has experimented with filler, but only in her lips.

“I just got a little bit in my lips because they were getting really crusty on the inside,” Madix confessed. “I never go more than 0.5 at a time because I never want to look crazy.”

The TV personality also shared that she’s “not even a candidate” to get facial fillers because her face doesn’t have the “structure to support” it.

While Madix is taking some aging precautions, she’s not too “preoccupied” about developing other signs of aging — despite the “pressure” to look young in Hollywood.

“I am in a position where that does matter, but I also know … I’m going to get older no matter what.”

Madix previously opened up about work she had done via social media in July 2024, when a fan was speculating.

“I’ll tell you what I’ve had!” Madix commented. “You’re partially correct. [Botox] in [frown lines], outer brow, and my neck.” She added that she got a minor neck lift back in 2019, and “minimal” lip and chin filler.

Madix then corrected the fan who assumed she had an upper eyelid surgery and shut the rumor down. “Hope this helps! I’ll keep y’all posted if I do anything else,” she promised.

'Duck Dynasty' Cast: Where Are They Now?

The Robertson family became household names thanks to A&E, and they’ve stayed on fans’ minds ever since their series ended.

Duck Dynasty gave viewers an inside look at the lives of the Louisiana natives and their business, Duck Commander. The hit reality show premiered in March 2012 and ended in March 2017 after 11 seasons.

The series followed patriarch Phil Robertson, his wife, Kay Robertson, his brother Si Robertson and Phil’s sons Willie Robertson, Jep Robertson and Jase Robertson. Willie and his family — including wife Korie Robertson, daughter Sadie Robertson and son John Luke Robertson — took center stage throughout the show’s run, which featured appearances from the family’s many relatives.

Willie and Korie reflected on the phenomenon in March 2017. “The Robertson family has always been very open with their lives. Good and bad,” he told Us Weekly exclusively at the time. “When you’re vulnerable and say, ‘Hey, this is what we’re going through,’ that resonates.”

He added: “We try to protect everybody and not get caught in something embarrassing, though. There was one time Si was picking his nose and producers thought it was funny. We were like, ‘No, take that out.’”

The CEO of his family’s company reopened his restaurant, Willie’s Duck Diner, in West Monroe, Louisiana, in September 2017. Loyal fans of the show will remember that Willie is unapologetic about his religious views, and this eatery was no different. The restaurant proudly boasted passages from the Bible and was described as a place “where saying grace is encouraged.” (The diner closed in 2019.) The father of six — who shares John Luke, Sadie, Will, Bella, Rowdy and Rebecca with wife Korie — also announced in July 2018 that Duck Commander would be hosting tours on Sundays. Willie starred in Buck Commander on the Outdoor Channel until September 2019. In 2021, Willie appeared on season 6 of The Masked Singer as the Mallard. Willie returned for Duck Dynasty: The Revival in 2025.

Uncle Si was long considered the breakout star of Duck Dynasty — and he also made appearances on other shows, including Last Man Standing and Buck Commander. Si’s personality earned him his own short-lived spinoff called Going Si-Ral, where he watched viral videos and shared his commentary. Si joined daughters-in-law Marsha Robertson and Bridgette Tatum in their band, Uncle Si & The Sicotics. He also regularly appeared on Fox and Friends until 2019. Si returned for Duck Dynasty: The Revival in 2025.

Jep’s loyal following earned him a spinoff called Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty, which followed the TV personality and his wife, Jessica, raising their children, Lily, Merrit, Priscilla, River and Jules. The series, which ran from 2016 to 2017, also showed the couple — married since 2001 — describing their struggles with their pot-pie-themed food truck. In January 2018, the Robertsons opened a new food truck called Jep’s Southern Roots at Supernatural star Jensen Ackles’ Family Business Beer Company in Dripping Springs, Texas. The family later moved to Austin and launched a YouTube channel to support their business. Korie exclusively told Us in 2025 that Jep is “sprinkled in” to the Duck Dynasty: The Revival series.

The COO of Duck Commander was easily recognizable thanks to his long and unruly beard, which he shaved off in September 2017 for his daughter Mia’s charity to help raise awareness for cleft lips and palates. In May 2014, Jase and wife Missy — who also share sons Reed and Cole — opened up to Us about their daughter’s struggle. “It changed my perspective,” he said at the time, recalling Mia’s birth. “I thought, here I am, worried about what she’s going to look like, while the doctors aren’t even sure she can breathe on her own. From that moment on, I stopped being so superficial.” More recently, Jase and Missy visited Israel, and he starred in Unashamed with brother Alan Robertson. In 2025, Korie exclusively told Us that Jase is “sprinkled in” to the Duck Dynasty: The Revival series.

The professional hunter made waves — and was subsequently suspended — over controversial comments he made in 2013 during an interview with GQ. When asked what he believed to be sinful, he answered, “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there.” Since the end of Duck Dynasty, Phil became more involved with politics by publicly endorsing candidates. In October 2017, it was announced that he would be getting his own show, In the Woods With Phil, where he planned “on rejecting ‘political correctness.’” Phil also hosts the “Unashamed With Phil Robertson” podcast. The family confirmed in December 2024 that Phil is in the “early stages” of Alzheimer’s.

Sadie, who grew up in front of viewers’ eyes, is no longer a kid — she’s a bestselling author, Dancing With the Stars alum and speaker for Live Original. She also founded One Squad, a millennial-driven organization that helps inspire young people to come together to make an impact, and hosts the “WHOA That’s Good” podcast. Sadie returned for Duck Dynasty: The Revival in 2025.
She married Christian Huff in November 2019. The duo welcomed daughter Honey in May 2021. In November 2022, the couple revealed that they were expecting their second child. Daughter Haven was born in May 2023. The pair revealed in February 2025 that they are expecting their third baby.

After writing a book called Young and Beardless: The Search for God, Purpose and a Meaningful Life in 2016, Willie and Korie’s oldest son documented his travels with wife Mary Kate McEacharn — whom he wed in 2015 — on Instagram and became the director of Camp Ch-Yo-Ca. The couple welcomed son John in October 2019. A daughter named Ella followed in April 2021. He returned for Duck Dynasty: The Revival in 2025.

Jason Kelce’s Daughter Adorably Crashes Podcast From Her Timeout

Jason Kelce’s daughter Bennett “Bennie” Kelce respects the rules of timeout, and the two-year-old does not want to wade into any football conversation while she serves her punishment.

Bennie, who Jason shares with wife Kylie Kelce, made a brief appearance on NFL star’s “New Heights” podcast on Wednesday, May 21, which he hosts with his brother, Travis Kelce.

The hilarious moment came as Jason, 37, and Travis, 35, were discussing proposed rule changes in the NFL, including banning the “tush push” and a change to playoff seeding.

“Bennie’s in timeout right now,” Jason said before addressing his daughter. “Bennie, are you OK? You don’t like the rule change either? You think the division winner should keep their home game, right? Yeah, I think she thinks that.”

Jason Kelce Shares His Favorite Part of Being a Parent: 'It's Fantastic'

“She might be the smartest two-year-old ever if she agrees with this,” Travis jokingly replied.

“She’s probably better at deciding all this stuff than everybody else deciding it,” Jason added. “Bennie, what do you think about the tush push? Should the Eagles be allowed to do the tush push?”

“I’m in timeout,” Bennie reminded her dad.

But even her dad wasn’t about to let her use that to evade the tough questions.

“You’re in timeout? Should the NFL be in timeout for proposing the tush push?” he asked. “No? OK, you’re not being any fun right now.”

Jason and Kylie Kelce's Candid Quotes About Parenting Through the Years

It turns out the NFL, without Bennie’s help, elected not to ban the tush push — a play popularized by Jason’s former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, in which teammates push the quarterback forward through the opposing team’s defense.

Jason, for his part, has expressed his support for the play.

“I get why certain teams want to ban it for competitive reasons. I get why some people think that it’s potentially unsafe. I think optically it looks unsafe,” he said on the April 4 episode of “New Heights.” “For me personally, I never felt like there’s that much more of a risk of injuring somebody on the play and I don’t think there’s any statistics to back that up.”

In addition to Bennie, Jason and Kylie also share daughters Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, and newborn Finn, 1 month.

Though Bennie isn’t ready to weigh in on football rules herself, she’s not exactly known for keeping her opinions private. When Kylie announced she was pregnant with Finn, she shared a photo of the three girls wearing sweaters that said “big sister.” While Wyatt looked nervous and Elliote was all smiles, Bennie appeared to be sobbing.

“I feel like we captured a very accurate representation of how each of the girls feel about getting another sister. At least Ellie, mom and dad are on the same page! 🤷‍♀️” Kylie captioned the pic.

Inside Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' Cozy New York City Home

When Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are not in the spotlight, the two are known to stick closer to home — which includes their rustic New York City apartment.

“Blake and Ryan are avid homebodies,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2022.

Nestled in New York City’s Tribeca area, the apartment building has allegedly been home to several other A-listers including Justin Timberlake and Jennifer Lawrence. The seven-story building has over 50 condo units — both lofts and penthouses — each ranging from 2,000 to 5,000 square feet.

While the pair have been notoriously private about their life, they have offered several glimpses of the New York City pad through the years. When showing off a room in her apartment, Lively even joked in a December 2023 Instagram post that she is “low key” an “interior designer.”

Keep scrolling for a closer look at their apartment:

When the Gossip Girl alum posted a series of self-timer pictures captured on her phone, she gave another view of the couple’s apartment — this time showing off their living room. Lively’s Instagram photo displayed another wood beam, with an exposed brick wall. She struck a pose underneath an arched black window near a tiered chandelier.
“Yes, I took these on a self timer [because] everyone was asleep when I got home at 9,” Lively captioned the post. “Sorry outfit. You deserved better.”

Lively shared an Instagram snap posing in a gold sequin jumpsuit in the couple’s bedroom, which features wood beam ceilings and gold sconces next to their green velvet bed frame. The picture also displayed their unmade bed.
“Yes, I low key moonlight as an interior designer but please don’t tell [because] I definitely don’t want the world to know that I have a hidden talent which I require external validation on,” she captioned the post.
In the photo, she also gave her followers a peek into their bathroom, which was visible through a wood-framed door and featured a freestanding marble bathtub.

Is Tracy Ifeachor Returning to ‘The Pitt’ in Season 2 After Collins' Exit?

Before The Pitt returns for season 2, everyone wants to know whether Tracy Ifeachor will be reprising her fan-favorite role of Dr. Heather Collins.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Ifeachor, 39, was coy about her future on the hit HBO Max show, teasing, “Listen, there is going to be an amazing cast in season 2 — just as there was in season 1. I’m just going to leave it there.”

Ifeachor hinted at “a lot of surprises” in the sophomore season, adding, “I’m not a [plot] ruiner. I’m not even going to tell you who is or is not going to come back. I’m just going to say I want you to watch season 2 and just enjoy it as much as you’ve watched season 1. Hopefully there’ll be seasons 3 and 4 and 7.

In response to Us‘ suggestion that The Pitt should come back for at least seven seasons — with Ifeachor featured in all of the future installments — the actress remained tight-lipped about Collins’ journey.

Which 'The Pitt' Characters Are — and Aren't — Returning for Season 2

Viewers were introduced to the senior resident when The Pitt premiered in January, and it didn’t take long for Collins to develop a strong fanbase. The medical drama, meanwhile, has become a critical success after introducing a unique format where each episode follows an hour in a grueling 15-hour shift at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital.

While highlighting how emergency rooms suffer from staff shortages, underfunding and insufficient resources, The Pitt also offered an authentic look at the everyday lives of hospital staff.

Ifeachor, for her part, got the chance to do some significant research to accurately — and authentically — bring her character to life.

“I spoke to a lot of doctors. I watched so many medical documentaries, which were just so amazing. Everything from Extremis to Freedom House: Street Saviors, which is about the first paramedics. I watched a lot of documentaries and stayed away from medical dramas,” she told Us. “I have all the respect for them but I feel like The Pitt is really original and really, really realistic. So I really wanted something that would feel like [my character]. I tried to find doctors who have the same thought process. It was a lot of research.”

With the hospital being set in the U.S., Ifeachor adapted her British accent as Collins, adding, “Obviously I’m born and raised in England so the way our languages are structured — the structure of the words — is so completely different. I’m doing an accent and a dialect that’s not my own naturally.”

It was important to Ifeachor that Collins feel like a real doctor who exists in Pittsburgh.

“I wanted her to look American and feel American. So the minute I would drive onto set, I would switch from English to American. I lived and breathed it,” she recalled. “In addition to documentaries, I was watching 300 hours of testimonials of women who’d had miscarriages and were trying and going down the IVF route. I would put songs to a testimonial. It would just remind me and I would try and listen.”

Ifeachor continued: “We didn’t really get many breaks between scenes so I would be on my own just listening, reading and trying to just get into the headspace of these women — these amazing women who have survived these really tragic and hard events.”

What to Know About ‘The Pitt’ Season 2: From Possible Cast Exits to Spinoffs

For those who need a refresher, Collins’ shift in season 1 started with her secretly celebrating a pregnancy. Collins ultimately experienced a miscarriage at work, which only a select few confidantes knew before she left early to go home and process the loss.

Season 1 didn’t bring Collins back in the last few episodes as the staff dealt with the cataclysmic aftermath of a mass festival shooting. Ifeachor acknowledged that there was more story to tell with Collins, which explained the overwhelming investment from fans in her season 2 return.

“You never know how a story is going to break. [That break] did enable me to go off and do another project, which I’m so excited about. I can’t wait for everyone to see it when I’m allowed to talk about that,” she shared with Us. “Once we knew she’s going to go home, I tried turning off my phone personally for an hour and it didn’t work. And I am the least on top of technology. I have about 300 unread text messages and I think there are some people that think I’m dead because I rather talk on the phone. So for me, when I even tried turning off my phone for an hour, it didn’t work.”

Ifeachor joked she didn’t understand how Collins’ coworkers were unable to get a hold of her during the crisis. The onscreen departure also didn’t allow Collins and Robby’s (Noah Wyle) romance to get wrapped up properly. Viewers learned in season 1 that Collins and Robby previously dated for a few months — but there was still chemistry there years later.

“I am always a hopeful romantic. I would have loved to have seen that toward the end of the season,” she recalled before quipping, “I remember saying to Noah one time, I was like, ‘I’ve been trying to flirt with you all season [on screen]. You have not even given me the time of day.’ I was always trying to [as Collins] and I felt like it was definitely in the script. … I would say there’s going to be lots of surprises to come.”

Whether Ifeachor does or doesn’t return as Collins, she had an incredible time sharing the screen with Wyle — and the rest of the cast.

Us Investigates How the New Slate of Medical TV Shows Differ From Each Other

“Noah was always watching everything. He is very into the camera angles and how it will be shot and how it will be received in the environment. Sometimes he’s written the episode so he’s going to watch the scenes get filmed. Sometimes he might have an idea of how the medical bit is directed because he has so many hats that he’s wearing before he is even in the scene,” Ifeachor explained. “So [our characters’ chemistry] wasn’t something that we ever actually talked about. Maybe that adds to it because maybe it is something they actually haven’t actually talked about.”

Ifeachor was specifically grateful for Wyle, 53, as a scene partner.

She added: “We just really vibed. We are just both very present and in the scene and very available to each other. Over time — and I am not speaking for anyone else — but hopefully we learned to really trust each other. You are working together and you don’t know each other. It’s just such an intense show,” she continued. “Then suddenly you’re having to do these scenes where you have history. So it was a real journey.”

Since Ifeachor mentioned primarily watching unscripted medical content before filming The Pitt, here at Us, we had to ask about her experience with the massively popular ER, which Wyle starred on from 1994 to 2009.

“I was aware of it. I do remember when I was a teenager just having the most tremendous crush on [Noah]. I can’t even tell you what the show was about. I had this just insane crush,” Ifeachor playfully shared with Us. “I can’t tell you anything about the show but him. I also really loved Julianna Margulies. I thought she was a really great actor too and there’s many, many more people who all just came together and did this amazing show. It was the first time I had seen a group of people who kind of resembled me or looked like me doing these amazing things. I was just so in awe of it.”

The Pitt has been renewed for season 2 and is currently streaming on HBO Max.

Alison Victoria Reacts to Suggestion HGTV Fans 'Can't Stand' Her

Regardless of how much success Alison Victoria has found as an HGTV star, she’s a human first.

“I think that with anyone — whether you’re in the public eye or not — when something hurts, you can either be crippled by it, or you can be empowered by it,” Victoria, 43, exclusively shared with Us Weekly on Monday, May 19. “Stuff stings and it makes you second guess yourself.”

Over the weekend, Victoria was at the airport when she came across a critical article about herself. While traveling to Las Vegas to film her new show Sin City Rehab, the interior designer saw a post with the headline: “Why Some HGTV Fans Seriously Can’t Stand Alison Victoria.”

Although she’s been a public figure for many years and is aware that people can comment whatever they’d like online, Victoria said the words and angle of the story hurt her.

HGTV’s Biggest Breakout Stars: Chip and Joanna Gaines and More

“I told myself years ago that I wasn’t going to let anyone dim my light, and unfortunately, an article like that will, and it sucks,” Victoria explained. “My flame won’t go out but it’s awful to read.”

Critical comments can be especially “hurtful” for the HGTV star because everything she does on the small screen is unscripted and real.

“I do reality television, which means the person that you see on those shows like Windy City Rehab and my soon to be show Sin City Rehab, that is reality,” she explained. “That’s as real as reality gets. But that’s who I am to my core. People are seeing me for me.”

Victoria, however, knows she’s not alone when it comes to online bullying. From A-list actresses to ordinary moms posting about parenting, the real estate expert acknowledged that so many people are faced with critics and haters in their life.

Over the years, Victoria has tried her best to not take anything personally.

“Understand that the person on the other side is going through some sort of pain because it takes someone in pain to want to inflict pain on others,” she said. “‘If I hurt, then I’m going to hurt someone else.’ And that’s a very vindictive way to live. If you stop and you put yourself in that person’s shoes and you look at it from the outside, you can kind of feel their hurt, and you almost feel bad for them. When you feel bad for somebody, you have empathy.”

Victoria also tries to come from a place of gratitude. The Emmy-nominated producer starts her day with a five-minute journal, where she writes down what she’s grateful for and what she hopes will happen in the day ahead.

She’s also thrilled to have the support of her boyfriend, Brandt Andersen, who can get fired up and defend his partner or help put things into perspective.

“I love life. I wake up smiling. I can’t wait to see what the day is going to bring,” Victoria shared. “I worked really hard to get here, and it feels surreal that I’m finally in a place of true happiness, loving where I live and having the most amazing job in the world.”

HGTV Stars' Dating Histories Through the Years

When reflecting on the article, Victoria is moving forward and trying to prove that living well is the best revenge.

“That [writer] did dim my light, and those comments hurt my feelings,” she said. “But no one’s ever going to turn the lights out.”

Cara Delevingne Is Unrecognizable With Goth Black Shag Hair at Cannes

Cara Delevingne said bye-bye to her blonde locks.

Delevingne, 32, debuted a black-haired hair transformation while attending the History Of Sound premiere during the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday, May 21. For the red carpet, she stepped out looking nearly unrecognizable without her signature honey blonde hair. Instead, she donned jet-black mane, which was cut into short wispy bangs and a shoulder-length wolf cut. Delevingne styled her freshly dyed hair in wet, wavy tresses.

For glam, Delevingne donned a full beat including smokey brown eyeshadow with a nude cut crease and black eyeliner in her waterline. She teamed her sexy eye look with filled-in black eyebrows, bronzed cheeks and lined pink lips.

The model teamed her edgy glam with a stylish red dress featuring a deep scoop neck, short sleeves, a corset bodice and a pleated A-line skirt.

This isn’t the first time Delevingne has experimented with a new hairstyle. Over the years, she’s tried out a platinum pixie cut, which she later dyed auburn before shaving it all off and rocking a buzz cut in 2016. She slowly grew back her tresses and, by 2019, was slaying with shoulder-length hair.

Miley Cyrus Says Sobriety Has Changed Her 'Entire Life'

Miley Cyrus found her entire world shifted once she stopped drinking and doing drugs.

“I’ve learned this about myself over the years: sobriety is, like, that’s like my God,” Cyrus, 32, said during a Wednesday, May 21, interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “I need it, I live for it. I mean, that [has] changed my entire life.”

The “Something Beautiful” singer stopped using marijuana in 2017 and drinking alcohol in 2020. While speaking to 51-year-old Lowe, Cyrus acknowledged the last time they sat down for an Apple Music interview.

“When you came to my psychedelic house that was painted black in Hidden Hills, where everything is all-white homes and equestrian. Then, I painted mine black and rainbow, and [now] I no longer live there,” Cyrus quipped. “But, I was happy you came and saw me in that space. I was thinking about it a lot today as I was on my way here, because I was so close to who’s sitting here right now, but there was just life. It had more to teach me. It had more lessons.”

Miley Cyrus Says She Wouldn’t ‘Erase’ Her Relationship With Liam Hemsworth

During Cyrus’ 2020 interview with Lowe, she admitted that she “fell off” her sobriety journey during the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown.

“I know I needed to fall one more time,” Cyrus explained on Wednesday. “It just never would have happened this way. I just never would have been sitting here, and there were times in that section from when I’ve seen you last time and now that they hurt, I’m not proud of them.”

She added, “Definitely not my best moments, not some of my best work, any of that. But, it all led me to writing ‘Flowers,’ which then was some sort of key right into the lock of all healing. It healed me so much.”

Cyrus released “Flowers” in 2023 about her divorce from ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.

“It’s like a modern ‘I Will Survive’ in some ways,” Lowe mused, referring to Gloria Gaynor’s 1978 breakup anthem. “And then it allows you to create this body of work.”

“Flowers” went on to win two Grammy Awards in February 2024, which was equally “healing” for Cyrus.

“I think somewhere inside of me I needed maybe to hold a trophy and just feel for a moment that I have something that I can hold in my hands that feels like a true achievement,” she said. “Because after every album I’ve been able to say, ‘Well, I did what I came here to do and I made the album that I set out to make and that’s enough.’ Maybe it’s the kid in me. I don’t know what it was, but I needed something to hold that made me feel like I had really won. And so at the Grammys, that’s why I went. It was actually for healing. And funny enough, I’m happy I’m talking to you of all people, because I wasn’t going to go to the Grammys. I wasn’t going to perform at the Grammys for sure because as everybody was post-pandemic, I was struggling with a lot of anxiety.”

Cyrus continued, “I never wrote a song thinking, ‘I want to get a Grammy,’ but receiving that Grammy for ‘Flowers’ felt more like a band-aid on a broken heart in some way. And so, once I received my Grammy, I was like, ‘Look, when you Google me, it says Miley Cyrus, a Grammy Award-winning artist. I’m going to go make some of my weird that I like to make.’”

Inside Jennifer Garner's Relationship With Daughter Violet Affleck

Jennifer Garner has a special bond with daughter Violet Affleck.

Garner became a mom for the first time in 2005 when she and ex-husband Ben Affleck welcomed Violet. (The exes also share children Seraphina and Sameul who were born in 2009 and 2012, respectively.)

“My eldest daughter [Violet] didn’t have a shot. She couldn’t have a free thought — I was all over her,” Garner said of becoming a first time mom in a May 2023 interview with Allure. “I was a nightmare for everyone around me.”

Garner and Violet have maintained a strong mother-daughter relationship over the years. While the Affleck children have remained largely out of the spotlight, Violet was present when Garner got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and for a public visit to the White House.

Keep scrolling for a close look at what Garner and Violet have said about their relationship over the years:

Enforcing the Rules

Like most parents, Garner has to tell her children no sometimes — and Violet is understanding when her mom means business.

“I said to my girls, ‘What do I mean when I say no?'” Garner exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2015. “And they were like, ‘She really means no!’ So you just have to do it. It’s not pretty. I don’t think that I’m always the best at it but I try my best to be consistent and for them to know what they can expect from me.”

Setting Violet Up for Success

As Violet settled into fifth grade, Garner confessed that it took some time to get her daughter on the same level as her classmates.

“We just had back to school night, and I said afterwards, ‘Do they need a computer?’ They need some kind of device or computer to complete their homework. Our daughter doesn’t have any of those things, and she’s, like, the only kid in the class who doesn’t, apparently,” the actress told Today in 2016. “So I found an old laptop this weekend for her, and I am kind of panicked about it. She’s not on social media yet — her school has a no social media policy until 6th grade — but I know it’s coming soon.”

Dealing With Public Attention

In a March 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Garner recalled that Violet was not afraid to share her thoughts about living in the limelight at a young age.

“She stood up on a chair in a little velvet dress, with her hair a bit back and her glasses on and she didn’t say her R’s right, and she said: ‘We didn’t ask for this. We don’t want these cameras, they’re scary,’” Garner recounted.

Being Strict With Social Media

While Garner is active on Instagram, the 13 Going on 30 star confessed that she’s not keen on her daughter joining the platform.

“She’ll occasionally talk to me about getting Instagram, and I can see why because I’m on there and it’s something kind of fun that I do,” Garner said in a 2019 sit down with Katie Couric. “And I am modeling the opposite of what I want for her to do. How often is that in parenting?”

However, Garner decided to make a compromise with Violet.

“I just say, ‘When you can show me studies that say that teenage girls are happier using Instagram than not, then we can have the conversation,’” she continued. “‘But everything you look at, I don’t see anything positive for you out there. You can look at mine when you want to, we can go over it together, but I just don’t see it.’”

Emotional Milestones

When Violet graduated from high school in 2024, Garner had an emotional moment watching her daughter receive her diploma.

“Tell me you have a graduate without telling me you have a graduate,” Garner wrote via Instagram alongside a series of snaps and a video of her crying in multiple instances.

Mother-Daughter Arguments

Violet got candid about getting into a discussion with her mother during the Los Angeles wildfires in an essay she wrote for Yale University’s student-run Yale Global Health Review.

“I spent the January fires in Los Angeles arguing with my mother in a hotel room,” Violet penned in her essay titled A Chronically Ill Earth: COVID Organizing as a Model Climate Response in Los Angeles. “She was shell-shocked, astonished at the scale of destruction in the neighborhood where she raised myself and my siblings. I was surprised at her surprise”
