3 Shocking Amazon Prime Video Thrillers You Should Watch in May 2025

Ready for pulse-pounding suspense and thought-provoking action?

Make sure the edge of your seat is comfortable, because that’s where you’ll be sitting while you watch these thrillers that are included with your Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Stars like Carey Mulligan, Ben Affleck and Kat Graham lead these movies, all of which explore different sub-genres under the thriller umbrella.

‘Promising Young Woman’ (2020)

A darkly comedic revenge thriller, Promising Young Woman follows Cassie Thomas (Carey Mulligan), a former medical student who dropped out after her best friend was sexually assaulted at a party. Desperately seeking justice for her wronged friend, Cassie habitually pretends to be drunk at bars and waits for men to try to take advantage of her before confronting them.

When she learns that her friend’s assailant, Al (Chris Lowell), is getting married, Cassie decides to take revenge on the people who allowed Al to get away with the crime unscathed. Her plot is complicated, however, by her burgeoning romance with Ryan (Bo Burnham), an old med school classmate.

3 Underrated Thrillers You Should Watch in May 2025

Mulligan’s performance in this film is terrifyingly powerful, and the story alternates between heartbreaking and satisfying. Director Emerald Fennell’s dark, engaging script won Promising Young Woman a well-deserved Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2021.

‘The Accountant’ (2016)

The sequel to this Ben Affleck action thriller has been getting great buzz since it hit theaters on April 25, so if you haven’t seen it, now’s the time. The eponymous accountant at the center of the movie is Christian Wolff, an autistic CPA who makes his living inspecting the books of criminal organizations for signs of theft or embezzlement. When Christian takes on a legitimate client — a robotics company with suspicious discrepancies in their books — he uncovers a deeper conspiracy and finds himself being pursued by the Treasury Department.

But unlike your stereotypical accountant, Christian isn’t exactly defenseless. His father, a former military PsyOps operative, trained him in martial arts and weaponry. As he evades his pursuers in this pulse-pounding action epic, more of the twists in Christian’s dark past are revealed.

Affleck creates a captivating character with Christian, an action hero whose brain is just as powerful as his fists. Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons and Jon Bernthal round out a powerful supporting cast.

‘Tyler Perry’s Duplicity’ (2025)

Tyler Perry combines topical issues with compelling drama in his latest film, which stars Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) as Marley Wells, an attorney who becomes entangled in a case after her best friend’s husband is fatally shot by police while on the run. As she tries to seek justice, she unravels a conspiracy that shows the depth of the corruption in her neighborhood’s law enforcement.

16 New Movies to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, Max, Hulu, Amazon Prime, More

Graham’s performance delves deep into her pain as she uncovers ever more shocking twists about her friend’s death. For those seeking a thought-provoking thriller with themes of social justice and accountability, Duplicity is for you.

Jeff Sperbeck's Son Pays Tribute After Fatal John Elway Golf Car Accident

The son of NFL legend John Elway’s longtime friend and agent, Jeff Sperbeck, is breaking his silence following his dad’s death.

Sperbeck, who was 62, died in April after falling from a golf cart driven by Elway, 64, at the Madison Club in La Quinta, California.

Sperbeck’s son, Jackson, paid tribute to his father via Instagram on Sunday, May 18, sharing a series of photos of him and Sperbeck through the years, including a sweet picture of Sperbeck carrying Jackson as a child on his shoulders. Other photos show Sperbeck hitting the dancefloor at a family event and enjoying ice cream with his kids.

“Your footsteps gave me direction. I’ll walk the rest with purpose,” Jackson captioned the carousel. “I love you dad.”

Sperbeck is survived by his wife, Cori, and three children, Sam, Carly and Jackson.

Earlier this month, TMZ reported that Sperbeck’s cause of death was ruled as blunt head trauma, citing the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. His death was ruled an accident.

Celebrity Deaths of 2025: Stars We’ve Lost This Year

“I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken by the passing of my close friend, business partner and agent Jeff Sperbeck,” Elway said in a statement on April 30. “There are no words to truly express the profound sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant so much to me.”

“My heart and deepest sympathies go out to Jeff’s wife, Cori; his children Carly, Sam and Jackson; and everyone who knew and loved him,” the statement continued. “Jeff will be deeply missed for the loyalty, wisdom, friendship and love he brought into my life and the lives of so many others.”

Sperbeck’s family also issued a statement over the longtime sports agent’s death the same day.

“We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our beloved Jeff Sperbeck. He was a wonderful father, husband, brother, son and friend to many and will be profoundly missed by all,” the family said. “We are grieving this unimaginable loss as a family alongside our dearest friends the Elways and the many other clients Jeff called friends.”

The family noted that they are “grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of support” they’ve received from the public, but concluded by asking for privacy at this time.

Gwyneth Paltrow Defends Her Controversial Vagina Candle: ‘Go F*** Yourself’

Gwyneth Paltrow stands by one of her most controversial Goop product creations — the ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’ candle.

Quizzed over the product, which was unveiled via her lifestyle website in 2020, during an appearance at the 2025 Mindvalley Manifesting Summit in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 17, Paltrow addressed the negative attention it attracted.

“You know, that product is so fascinating,” the actress, 52, said, as captured in an Instagram video posted by the summit’s official account on Sunday, May 18. “It took us a long time to live that one down, but I kept it on the site because there is an aspect to women’s sexuality that I think … we’re socialized to feel a lot of shame. And I sort of loved this kind of punk rock idea.”

Paltrow concluded, “We are beautiful and we are awesome and go f*** yourself.”

Gwyneth Paltrow's Most Controversial Goop Moments: Jade Eggs to Bee Stings

The product, which sparked its own 2022 spinoff candle titled “Hands Off My Vagina,” nodding to reproductive freedom, was originally launched in a quest to empower the website’s female fanbase.

Paltrow told Us Weekly in September 2020, “You grew up getting messaging around the feminine care that was heavily scented with synthetic fragrance and all this kind of thing. I just felt like it was time to make a bit of a feminist statement around accepting who we are and our femininity.”

She added at the time, “I feel like once people get past the initial shock of it and you really start to unpack what it means and what it’s saying, it’s pretty cool.”

Paltrow’s weekend discussion also revisited how the product originated, with the Shakespeare in Love actress telling guests, “We were messing around with different scents one day and I smelled something and I was like, ‘Oh, that smells like…’, you know,” she explained.

“I was joking. And then [Douglas Little, Heretic perfumer and Goop collaborator] was like, ‘Oh, we should make that a candle and put it on the site,’” Paltrow continued.

Shade at Goop! Rosamund Pike: We’re 'Being Conned by the Wellness Industry’

Paltrow has never shied away from buckling societal confines, recently revealing that her two children, daughter Apple, 21, and son, Moses, 19, appreciate the way they’ve been raised. (Paltrow shares both children with ex-husband Chris Martin and she married Brad Falchuk in 2018.)

“They are very proud of the iconoclastic approach that we have taken in the past,” Paltrow told E! News in an article published on Monday, May 12. “Looking back, there are always things that we used to write about [at Goop] where people were like, ‘Oh my gosh, what is this?’ And now they’re so mainstream. My kids are really proud of the fact that we’re always kind of first in this space.”

Jessica Simpson Sings on ‘American Idol’ in 1st TV Appearance in 15 Years

Jessica Simpson returned to television screens following a 15-year absence.

Simpson, 44, performed during the Sunday, May 18, American Idol finale, hitting the stage to deliver two tracks: her new song “Blame Me” and her famed 2005 rendition of “These Boots Are Made For Walkin,” a reimagining of Nancy Sinatra’s 1966 hit.

The “Boots” performance saw Simpson team up with Josh King, who was earlier eliminated in season 23, much to the delight of the filming’s full house.

Idol host Ryan Seacrest confirmed that the performance, which drew a standing ovation from judges Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie, was Simpson’s first “TV appearance” in 15 years.

Jessica Simpson Returns to Stage for the First Time in 15 Years

Simpson’s return also attracted mammoth applause from the crowd as she rocked the room in a bronze sparkly dress that featured a high slit.

Simpson took to Instagram earlier on Sunday to reveal preparations ahead of her performance. Sharing a video that captured her name written across her trailer door, the singer then revealed herself entering the trailer in a slouchy black knit and oversized sunglasses.

Simpson cheekily poked her tongue out at the camera before flashing a wide grin.

The reality series’ finale saw Jamal Roberts crowned the winner of American Idol, beating out John Foster and Breanna Nix as America’s favorite singer. The episode started with the trio performing Queen’s “We Are the Champions” before Seacrest, 50, reminded viewers that voting was officially open.

Simpson joined a major roll call of celebrity performances during the evening which included Good Charlotte, Goo Goo Dolls, Brandon Lake, Salt-N-Pepa and more.

As Simpson continues her return to the spotlight, she is sharing her journey via her socials, revealing recently that she’s found an unusual hack to help her vocal cords.

“It’s, like, this Chinese herb thing and I’m, like, ‘I don’t know. My vocal coach told me to drink it,’” Simpson told her fans in a March 28 Instagram video before revealing that the ingredient was “snake sperm.”

She succinctly captioned the video, “🎤🐍🧪.”

Simpson recently released her first record in 15 years, an EP titled Nashville Canyon, Part 1, and took to Instagram in March to reveal its origins and her inspiration. “I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free. His eyes are on the sparrow and I know He watches me,” she wrote at the time. “God told me I needed to feel the fear and do it anyway as I’m moving into my truth while embracing the beauty of uncertainty.”

Simpson continued, “#NashvilleCanyon is the result of learning to hear my heart again, free from industry expectations. It’s about surrendering, letting my voice be my main guide, and trusting the journey ahead. Always inviting God into the room where music creates itself, with a voice that communicates on a spiritual level of grace without fear and allowing the music to be my main voice.”

The final photos in the post showed Brittany leaning cuddling into Patrick’s chest as the pair both looked into the camera, in addition to the couple walking hand-in-hand within an event space.

Insight into the pair’s date night followed Brittany sharing a series of beautiful family moments via Instagram earlier that day, including a tender moment between Patrick and baby Golden. In Brittany’s carousel, Patrick was seen sweetly crouched down to greet his child during a game of golf after Brittany carried Golden over to the green.

Golden was seen in a butter-yellow onesie that complemented her moniker, while her face was strategically hidden from the camera.

The Patrick Mahomes 15 and The Mahomies Foundation Vegas Gold Classic offered Brittany and Patrick, who married in March 2022, another date night earlier last week. Sharing photos from the earlier event via Instagram over the weekend, Brittany was seen wearing another striking formal gown, dazzling in a watercolor mix of rainbow hues and pairing the dress with bright accessories.

Patrick addressed life as a father of three children shortly after the arrival of Golden in January. The athlete joked during a Kansas City Chiefs press conference a few weeks after the child’s birth, “It’s a growing family, but [I] hope we are done growing for a little while.”

To celebrate Easter, Brittany shared a carousel of family moments via Instagram. The snaps showed Patrick posing for a photo with Bronze amid the pair’s children hunting for eggs while other images showed their children marking the event with friends.

'American Idol' Finale Recap: Who Won Season 23?

American Idol has officially crowned a new champion.

The season 23 finale aired Sunday, May 18, with John Foster, Breanna Nix and Jamal Roberts vying for the title of America’s favorite singer. The big night began with the trio performing “We Are the Champions” by Queen before host Ryan Seacrest reminded viewers that voting was officially open.

Artist in residence Jelly Roll offered his expert advice to the final three — and even selected songs for them to perform in the first round. Fans were also shown footage from the finalists’ emotional returns to their respective hometowns. In the first elimination of the night, Foster and Roberts were saved, leaving Nix in third place.

Following performances by Salt-n-Pepa, Good Charlotte, Goo Goo Dolls and more, the results were in, with Seacrest revealing that more than twice as many votes were received as last season. He then announced Roberts as the winner.

'American Idol' Winners: Where Are Fantasia Barrino and More Now?

Roberts quickly impressed the judges during his audition, singing a soulful version of “Mary Jane” by Rick James. Lionel Richie could hardly contain his excitement while listening to Roberts’ riffs.

“Man, you’ve got some stuff in there,” Richie said. “And by the end, you were letting it come out. Just relax. You’ve got the voice and you know how to tell a story. Priceless.”

American Idol Finale Recap Season 23 Winner Revealed

Richie has seemingly been Roberts’ biggest champion throughout the competition, frequently praising Roberts’ old-school vibe. Fellow judge Luke Bryan hinted one week before the finale that he could see Roberts taking the title, telling reporters, “My gut has told me Jamal has … [been] a lead all year.”

While Roberts flashy outfits and high-flying arrangements kept viewers voting, season 23 wasn’t actually his first time around the block on Idol. He revealed to Billboard in April that he auditioned for the show twice before.

Every Carrie Underwood Song Performed on 'American Idol' Season 23

“I didn’t get defeated. I never gave up,” he said of being turned away from the singing competition. “I took the no. I’ve always been able to take constructive criticism and use it for my gain and try again. This has always been me.”

He went on to share some of the best advice Richie gave him. “He said, ‘When you are on stage and get to doing what you’re doing, you’re exploding. I hate to see you leave.’ That stuck with me. It means I’m doing something right,” Roberts explained. “I’ve learned to stay true to yourself. Don’t second-guess yourself. Oh man, second-guessing can cause a lot of stress. Go with your first mind. Anything that you do, do your best.”

Sister Wives' Kody Digs Garrison’s Grave at Funeral in Gut-Wrenching Episode

Kody Brown took a hands-on approach to burying his son Garrison Brown on the latest episode of Sister Wives following Garrison’s death in March 2024.

“I talked to the sextant of the cemetery and he’s the one that would normally dig the graves,” Kody, 56, explained during the Sunday, May 18, episode of the TLC series. “And I just asked him permission if I could dig it. It means something to me. I don’t know why.”

Kody noted that it was “deeply emotional” for him to be able to bring Garrison’s ashes to his family’s home state of Wyoming and dig the actual grave they would go in.

“This is like an old west country cemetery. And I’m going to dig the grave,” Kody shared, adding that his brother and his brother-in-law were going to help.

Sister Wives’ Kody Wanted More Time With Son Garrison, Recalls His Death

As the men mapped out how to dig the grave, Kody reflected on his pilgrimage to bring Garrison to his final resting place. (Garrison died by suicide in 2024 at the age of 25.)

“I’ve never done anything like this, digging a grave. And I think this is one of the most important things I’ve ever done,” Kody told the cameras while tears built in his eyes. “It’s the last ode to my boy. … This is my duty, my job.”

Once the task was finished, an emotional Kody pulled out three chairs and sat next to the burial site and enjoyed the sunset. The next day, Kody’s family joined him for a funeral. Garrison’s mom, Janelle Brown, and her and Kody’s five other children were all in attendance.

While Kody and Janelle, 55, split in December 2022, she said the moment that she passed her son’s ashes to Kody to put in the grave they were “just parents” mourning their child.

Their extended plural family, including Kody’s other ex-wives, Meri Brown and Christine Brown, as well as his current wife, Robyn Brown, were also there for support.

‘Sister Wives’ 1st Look: Janelle Recalls Late Son Garrison as Sweet Sibling

Their combined 17 children were there to share final stories of Garrison before his urn — which was carved to look like a Viking ship by Aspyn Brown’s husband, Mitch Thompson — was covered up with dirt.

Prior to the burial, the officiant of the service asked everyone to take off their shoes and stand barefoot on the ground to “feel connected to the earth” and the ground that Garrison was about to be placed under.

“The theme about taking off the shoes, it’s not a Mormon thing. It’s not a fundamentalist Mormon thing,” Kody said during a confessional. “This funeral is not cookie cutter by any means. And that would be how Garrison would have it.”

Sister Wives’ Kody Has ‘Anxiety Attack’ Over Never Seeing Garrison Again

The unconventional service also included the officiant — who was a relative — wearing a Hawaiian shirt as a nod to Garrison’s love of the wardrobe staple. His brothers also paid tribute to him in a very non-traditional way.

Paedon Brown, who is Christine and Kody’s son, put his dog tags on Garrison’s grave before “pouring one out” for his late brother, and spilling beer on the urn.

“I have his tags, so I gave him my tags and his tags will hang on me forever,” Paedon, 26, explained, referring to both his and Garrison’s military service. “And I made sure to hang mine on the boat so that mine will hang with him forever. I felt really, really right to give him the military aspects that I will now have forever.”

Hunter Brown, who is one of Kody and Janelle’s sons, shared a few words before adding something to the grave.

“Garrison was my playmate he was my bunkmate for all of my life. He was my arch nemesis and my best friend and beloved brother,” Hunter, 28, said with a laugh. “Garrison was my first commissioned officer, and this was my hat that I got my first salute from Garrison in.”

'Sister Wives' Siblings Remember Their 'Beautiful Brother' Garrison Brown

Kody, for his part, told the family about a dream he’d had where Garrison was sitting on his bed and “wasn’t sad” about dying.

“I said, ‘Why you gone boy?’ He said, ‘I’m not, [it] ain’t that bad here,’” Kody recalled, laughing at the fact that in the dream Garrison asked him to “stop listening to sad music.” The patriarch noted that Garrison told him he was “OK” and that was something he thought they all needed to hear.

Sister Wives airs on TLC Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.

‘S.W.A.T.’ Receives Spinoff After Cancellations — But Who Is Coming Back?

S.W.A.T. has been picked up for a spinoff after multiple cancellations — and days after CBS aired the show’s series finale — but which cast members are returning for the new iteration?

Sony announced on Sunday, May 18, that a new spinoff series starring Shemar Moore as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson has been picked up. Sony Pictures Television will produce and distribute S.W.A.T. Exiles globally with development currently underway and production scheduled to start in Los Angeles this summer.

According to the official press release, the 10-episode series picks up after “a high-profile mission goes sideways, Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits.” Moore’s character must “bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.”

Moore, 55, reflected on the decision to reprise his role, which comes two days after CBS aired the S.W.A.T. series finale.

Every TV Spinoff to (Hopefully) Look Forward to in 2025

“My eight seasons on S.W.A.T. have been epic and memorable. We entertained the world, defied the odds, came back from the dead twice, and continued to woo fans and families worldwide,” the actor said. “I am excited for this next generation and iteration of S.W.A.T. with Sony. Katherine Pope, Neal H. Moritz, Jason Ning, and I will keep the franchise, thrill ride action, heartfelt drama, and storytelling of S.W.A.T. alive. WE DON’T LOSE!!!! ROLL SWAT!!!.”

Based on the 1975 TV show and 2003 film adaptation of the same name, S.W.A.T. centered around the Los Angeles Police Department. The CBS series premiered in 2017 and aired six seasons before it was picked up for a seventh and final run. CBS ultimately reversed that decision and S.W.A.T. returned for season 8. But the celebration didn’t last long — the network canceled the show for a second time in March.

SWAT Receives Spinoff After Cancellations
Bill Inoshita/Sony Pictures

The last season of S.W.A.T. also starred Jay Harrington, David Lim, Patrick St. Esprit, Anna Enger Ritch, Annie Ilonzeh and Niko Pepaj, but there’s no word yet on who could return for the spinoff.

Before news of S.W.A.T. Exiles broke, Ilonzeh spoke with Us Weekly about attempts to revive the series.

Which TV Shows Are Canceled in 2025-2026?

“We are crossing our fingers. So there is a particular discussion being had. I hope I can say [soon] that we really did it. We rallied for a third time,” she shared in April. “But we’re making noise. They do see it — producers and streamers that are interested — they are like, ‘OK, this is something.’ So if we can plug and play, we’re all geared up to go. We don’t want this ride to be over.”

Despite fighting for S.W.A.T. to get a new home, it would be the show’s last battle to stay on the air.

“I was just talking to [my costar] Shemar [Moore] yesterday and he was like, ‘If we do this for a third time — whenever we do get canceled again — I will be OK with it. I’m not fighting for a fourth [time] because we really did it and we end on that,'” she noted. “We will end on the fight and the win and relish in all of this and squeeze the life out of it. We will know that we did it, we did our job and we can walk away happy campers.”

Justin Bieber Kisses Wife Hailey In 1st Outing Since Diddy Address

Justin Bieber broke cover with wife Hailey Bieber following the singer’s rep denying any involvement in alleged misconduct at the hands of Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Justin, 31, was seen grinning and bopping his head along to music alongside Hailey, 28, while attending the Sunday, May 18, hockey playoff at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena. The pair even shared a kiss and further PDA via Justin’s Instagram account that evening.

The outing, captured in footage shared via Sportsnet’s Facebook page on Sunday, marked the first public appearance since Justin’s rep hosed down speculation that he was a victim of Diddy, 55. (Diddy is currently on trial for charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.)

A rep shared via a statement to Us Weekly on Thursday, May 15, “Although Justin is not among Sean Combs’ victims, there are individuals who were genuinely harmed by him. Shifting focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightfully deserve.”

Justin Bieber’s Rep Addresses Speculation He Was a Victim of Diddy

While attending Sunday’s game, which saw Justin’s beloved Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Florida Panthers, Justin threw his arm around Hailey, who also smiled by his side.

The pair thoroughly documented their outing via Instagram, with Justin sharing two Instagram Story videos of Hailey looking excited as she walked down a hall ahead of the match. He also shared Sportsnet’s Instagram Story which mentioned that, “Justin and Hailey Bieber are on the scene for game 7” and included footage of the couple soaking up the atmosphere.

One hour prior to his Stories posts, Justin shared a shot of Hailey walking backstage at the game, captioning his Instagram grid photo, “Made it into the building,” and tagging his wife.

As for Hailey, who married the “What Do You Mean?” artist in September 2018 and shares son, Jack Blues, 7 months, with him, the Rhode founder shared Justin’s grid photo of her back via her own Instagram Stories.

The model also shared a photo of two Maple Leafs players, Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, seated in front of her and Justin, demonstrating just how close the couple were to the game’s action.

Justin, who found fame as a teenager, crossed paths with Diddy early in his career, which is where much of the unsubstantiated speculation surrounding Justin’s involvement with Diddy stemmed from.

Inside Diddy and Justin Bieber’s Connection Through the Years

Justin notoriously appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2011 alongside Diddy, and said the music mogul had promised to buy him a Lamborghini but he had not received this gift. “He knows better than to be talking about the things that he does with Big Brother Puff on national television,” Diddy responded on the show.

Diddy was arrested in September 2024. His attorney Marc Agnifilio said in a statement to Us at the time, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”

Joel and Ellie's Fight Revealed on 'The Last of Us' as Pedro Pascal Returns

If The Last of Us is going to do anything, it’s hit viewers with an overly emotional penultimate episode.

Spoilers for The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 6 below.

The highly anticipated flashback episode shows a glimpse of how Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and a very much alive Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) spent the last five years in Jackson. But first, the show took viewers even further back to Austin, Texas, in 1983.

A young Joel (Andrew Diaz) comes face to face with his father (Tony Dalton) for an emotional discussion about parenting — which comes into play later on in the episode. Joel’s watch (the one he never took off even though it was broken) is revealed to have originally belonged to his dad.

Flashing forward to 2024, Ellie and Joel have lived in Jackson for two months, and it’s her 15th birthday. Joel gets her a cake and gifts her a guitar that he made. (Yeah, he called her “babygirl” at one point too, but let’s not talk about that.)

What to Remember About 'The Last of Us' Ahead of Season 2: Complete Recap

The following year, Ellie turns 16 — and their relationship is still very much intact. Joel takes Ellie to “space” by bringing her to an abandoned museum he finds while patrolling the woods.

Things start to change on her 17th birthday, however, with Ellie doing “all the teenage s*** all at once,” including getting a tattoo, doing drugs and hooking up in her bedroom. In the middle of the night, Ellie starts making moves to create a bedroom in the garage and Joel agrees that they need their space.

“You may not like the rules, but this is my house,” Joel states. Ellie replies, “No, it isn’t. You don’t own it. They gave it to you. Sorry, to us. You don’t own anything.”

The show then jumps two years, which puts viewers in 2028 (the year before Joel dies), and Ellie spends her birthday morning rehearsing a conversation she needs to have with Joel about what really went down in the hospital with the Fireflies when he “saved” her. The conversation never happens because Joel offers Ellie her birthday gift — her first-ever patrol. This is where, for lack of a better term, s*** really starts to go down.

Ellie and Joel are having a peaceful patrol with him teaching her the ropes when they find a Jackson community member, Eugene (Joe Pantoliano), who has been bitten by Infected. Joel promises Ellie that they will take Eugene back to Jackson so he can say goodbye to his wife, Gail (Catherine O’Hara). However, he lies and shoots Eugene dead. Ellie, in a rage, realizes that Joel lied to her about what really happened in the hospital all those years ago.

What Was Bella Ramsey’s ‘Hardest’ Scene to Film in ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2?

A nine-month time jump brings viewers back to New Year’s Eve in 2028 — the day before Joel gets murdered. He and Ellie finally have a much-needed conversation.

“You’re such an a******. You lied to me. You looked me in the eyes, and you lied, and it was the same face. Same f***ing look,” Ellie says. “I think I knew already. I knew this whole time. So I’m going to give you one last chance. Tell me what happened with the Firefiles. If you lie to me again, we’re done.”

Joel admitted to killing everyone in the hospital at the end of season 1, telling Ellie that she was the only one immune to the Cordyceps virus and a cure could have been made from her brain — but it would have killed her.

“Then I was supposed to die. That my purpose, my life would have f***ing mattered, but you took that from me! You took that from everyone,” Ellie yells. Joel replies, “Yes, and I’ll pay the price because you’re going to turn away from me.”

Joel admits that if given a second chance, he wouldn’t have changed a thing.

“Because you’re selfish,” Ellie declares.

Joel responds, “Because I love you in a way you can’t understand. Maybe you never will. But if that day should come, if you should ever have one of your own, well then, I hope you do a little better than me.”

Both Ellie and Joel are sobbing at this point.

“I don’t think I can forgive you for this,” Ellie says. “But I would like to try.”

Joel dies the next day.

New episodes of The Last of Us premiere on HBO Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.

‘Suits LA’ Series Finale Explained: Were There Surprise Cameos? Who Died?

Suits LA has come to an end after one season — but did the series finale go out on a high?

During the Sunday, May 18, finale, Ted (Stephen Amell) partnered with his ex Samantha (Rachelle Goulding) to go up against a powerful — but dangerous — producer. This paved the way for Ted and Samantha’s law firms to merge after their falling out earlier in the season.

There was also progress in Rick (Bryan Greenberg) and Erica’s (Lex Scott Davis) relationship after she finally decided to give him a chance. Elsewhere in the finale, flashbacks revealed how Ted’s father contributed to his brother, Eddie’s (Carson A. Egan), death.

Suits LA’s end is as satisfying as it could get after NBC pulled the plug on the show earlier this month. The network shocked fans by not renewing Lopez vs. Lopez, Night Court, Found, The Irrational and Suits LA.

'Suits LA' Has Some Major Similarities to 'Suits': A Complete Breakdown

NBC has since renewed The Hunting Party and Brilliant Minds, but those are the only freshman shows that survived their inaugural seasons — in addition to Grosse Pointe Garden Society, which is still on the bubble. The tough decisions come after the network signed an 11-year deal with the NBA.

Suits LA, which premiered in February, is a spinoff that was ordered by NBC in response to a resurgence in interest after the original Suits was added to Netflix and Peacock. Set in a fictional New York City corporate law firm, the original Suits followed associate lawyer Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who started working with Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). The legal drama, which ran from 2011 to 2019, focused on Harvey and Mike winning lawsuits and closing cases while simultaneously hiding Mike’s secret that he didn’t go to law school.

NBC’s newest version starred Amell, Davis, Greenberg and Josh McDermitt as fictional attorneys in feuding Los Angeles firms. The short-lived spinoff brought back Macht and Rick Hoffman from the OG show before its series finale.

While initially refusing to work with Samantha on a potential class action lawsuit against a powerful Hollywood producer, the exes were able to bring him down. Ted got help from Elizabeth (Sofia Pernas), which didn’t sit well with his other love interest Amanda (Maggie Grace).

Amanda changed her mind once she realized Ted was going up against the producer because he nearly assaulted Rosalyn (Azita Ghanizada) when she worked for him years prior. Ted ended the season — and the series — on good terms with everyone in his life after agreeing to merge with Samantha and Stuart’s (McDermitt) firm.

Ted was also able to make peace with his past as he recalled how his brother, Eddie, died in an explosion that was meant for Ted. Their father knew — and chose to sacrifice Eddie — which led to his fallout with Ted.

Suits LA wrapped up with Erica confronting her feelings for Rick. Despite previously shutting down a chance at them having a real future, Erica reconsidered after seeing how much he cared about her. After turning down Dylan’s (Victoria Justice) advances, Rick went against Erica in court for his client. Khloe Kardashian Takes Her Kids, Niece and Nephew to Monster Jam

Khloé Kardashian soaked up the festivities of Monster Jam with her extended family.

The entrepreneur, 40, shared photos from the family outing via Instagram on Sunday, May 18, posting a carousel of snaps and videos taken at the Friday, May 17, event at California’s SoFi Stadium.

“Monster Jam 2025,” Khloé began. “El Toro Loco 🤘🏽Grave Digger ☠ Sparkle Smash 🦄✨ Lettttssssss Gooooooooo!”

The dedicated mom and aunt attended with daughter, True, 7, and son, Tatum, 2, as well as sister Kylie Jenner’s daughter, Stormi, 7, and older sister Kim Kardashian’s son, Psalm, 6. (Khloé shares her two children with ex Tristan Thompson.)

Inside the Kardashian-Jenner Family's Very Hoppy 2024 Easter Celebration

Khloé’s post continued, “We all had so much fun at monster jam! It was a little overstimulating for my baby but still such a great experience 💙💙.”

Monster trucks were seen skidding through a dirt track in Khloé’s carousel, as were several photos that captured that clan’s fun including the kids wearing ear muffs and headphones, Khloé posing with monster trucks drivers and Khloé taking selfies with her little ones.

The family trip arrived just one month after the tight-knit Kardashian-Jenner crew spent quality time together while celebrating Easter. Khloé took to Instagram on April 20 to share insight into the festivities, posting an Instagram Story that showed a stuffed animal making station. “How cute is this, they’re going to make stuffed animals for Easter and fill them with things and dress them up like this,” Khloé explained in the clip, zooming in on a duck stuffed animal dressed in a duck-themed yellow outfit.

While Khloé is a busy mom and aunt, she also manages to flaunt her signature house storage and organization skills, recently sharing a tour of her “pantry crib” via YouTube.

“This area was actually one of my garages and I said, ‘Who needs a car? We need a bigger pantry,’” Khloé explained in the May 6 video. “So I got rid of one of the garages and voilà! This is the pantry and I transformed it here. I wanted it to look a little farmers market-y, beautiful.”

The video then revealed her neatly arranged snacks, stored within bins, including her Khloud popcorn brand.

“At the bottom, I have chips, popcorn and snacks because my kids are little and shorter so I want them to grab and go,” she explained. “And then the higher we get, the more adult-y we get, like condiments, olives for martinis for Kris Jenner. And then I have different sections, different containers. And then at the very top, I do back stock. Then the very top, glass cake trays for all the fun, good stuff.”

What to Know About Mariska Hargitay’s Surprise Biological Father

Mariska Hargitay made headlines when she revealed that her biological father was not Mickey Hargitay — but was, instead, Nelson Sardelli.

Mariska was born in 1964 to late actress Jayne Mansfield, who died in a June 1967 car crash. The incident left the Law & Order: SVU star, who was 3 at the time, with severe injuries.

The 2025 documentary My Mom Jayne explores Jayne’s life before and after the car accident, including Mariska’s mom’s split from Mickey and brief romance with Nelson. Jayne called it quits with Mickey and reunited with Nelson before Mariska’s birth in 1964. The pair divorced that year.

Mickey raised Mariska and siblings Mickey Jr. and Zoltán, uncovering the truth about her biological father’s identity in her 20s when she saw a picture of Nelson. When she brought it up to Mickey, he denied it. (Jayne was mom to daughter Jayne Marie, born in 1950 with first husband Paul Mansfield and son Tony, born in 1965 with third husband Matt Cimber.)

Mariska went on to meet Nelson when she was 30 years old and claimed she went “full Olivia Benson on him,” referring to her beloved character. “I was like, ‘I don’t want anything, I don’t need anything from you … I have a dad,’” Mariska recalled. “There was something about loyalty. I wanted to be loyal to Mickey.”

Mariska ultimately changed her mind, deciding that she “grew up where [she] was supposed to.” She added, “I do know that everyone made the best choice for me. I’m Mickey Hargitay’s daughter — that is not a lie.”

So who is Nelson? Scroll down to learn more about Mariska’s biological father:

Nelson Has Other Daughters

Mariska told Vanity Fair in 2025 that she and Nelson’s two other daughters, who appeared in the documentary My Mom Jayne, had a private screening for My Mom Jayne.

“They just wept and wept and wept,” Hargitay told the outlet while becoming emotional. “These two women that I love so much — I made them secrets! It’s so heartbreaking to me.”

Mariska explained that she referred to her sisters as “family friends,” adding, “I’m not good with lies. So I also made this movie to unburden all of us.”

Nelson Served in the Army

Norm Clarke’s Vegas Diary reported that Nelson served in the Army for most of 1965 and until 1958. He went on to work in construction before landing a gig singing at an open mic place and pursuing a career in the entertainment industry.

When Mariska was 30, she went to watch Nelson perform in Atlantic City. She claimed to Vanity Fair in 2025 that he became emotional, telling her, “I’ve been waiting 30 years for this moment.”

Nelson Resides in Las Vegas

Norm Clarke’s Vegas Diary reported in 2019 that Nelson has been in Las Vegas since 1965, nearly one decade after immigrating from Brazil. “I came to the United States in 1956, to Pontiac, Michigan, because in Brazil I worked for General Motors, but they were laying off people all over Michigan,” he explained to the outlet.

Nelson Pursued Acting

Nelson appeared in films including 1970’s Myra Breckinridge, 1982’s Fake Out and 2001’s Chilly Dogs.

Nelson Is Active In Philanthropy

The Las Vegas Sun reported in 1998 that Nelson organized “Star Shine” fundraisers, with celebrities shining shoes in return for charity donations.

Scottie Scheffler Wins PGA Championship 1 Year After Tournament Arrest

Scottie Scheffler has a reason to celebrate at this year’s PGA Championship.

The professional golfer, 28, won the 2025 PGA Championship on Sunday, May 18 — one year after he was arrested at the very same tournament.

After sinking his final put to end -11 in a runaway victory, he walked straight toward his wife, Meredith Scheffler, and his young son, Bennett, embracing them both and giving his wife more than a few celebratory kisses.

(Scottie and Meredith married in December 2020. They welcomed Bennett in May 2024, one month after he won the 2024 Masters tournament — his second Masters win.)

Golfer Scottie Scheffler Arrested Hours Before PGA Championship Round 2

He then took his son into his arms and once again embraced his wife, who was visibly emotional after watching her husband take home the win. After their prolonged hug, Scottie seemed to wipe away tears as he kept his son in his arms.

“Words can’t describe what we just watched,” Scottie’s father, Scott Scheffler, could be heard telling his son while embracing him following his win. His mother, Diane Scheffler, was also in attendance.

Scottie’s win on Sunday marks his first professional win as a dad.

Scottie Scheffler Addresses Arrest Before Teeing Off in Round 2 of PGA

Last year, at the same tournament when he was ranked the No. 1 golfer in the world, Scottie was arrested before play was scheduled to begin. The pro golfer was attempting to enter the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, at around 6 a.m. when police claimed he illegally bypassed the scene of an accident where a pedestrian was struck and killed.

Miraculously, Scottie made his 10:08 a.m. tee time despite being charged with multiple counts, including second-degree assault of a police officer and reckless driving. (Zander Schauffele ultimately won the tournament and the $3.3 million prize.)

Scottie later called the incident a “big misunderstanding.” On May 29, all charges against the professional golfer were dropped, per ESPN, after prosecutors decided to not move forward with the case.

After walking off the green with his young son in his arms, Scottie eventually attempted to hand the baby back to his wife, only to have his son continue to hold on, prompting one sports commentator to note that Bennett simply wanted to “stay with dad.”

The two-time Masters champion spent most of his time soaking in his latest win with his son in his arms. (He was, however, successful in returning the young tyke to his mother in order to accept the tournament trophy.) He finished the tournament five strokes ahead of the second place finisher, Harris English, who finished -6.

Meghan McCain Reacts to Joe Biden's Cancer Diagnosis

Meghan McCain is sharing her support for former President Joe Biden after news broke of his cancer diagnosis.

“Cancer is the absolute worst. It is hell,” McCain, 40, wrote via X on Sunday, May 18. “It is incredibly difficult for any family, anywhere that has to deal with it. Wishing nothing but healing, prayers, light and strength to President Biden and his family.”

She concluded, “I don’t believe times like these are appropriate for politics.”

Meghan and Biden, now 82, made headlines in 2017 when he comforted her on the set of The View while breaking down in tears over father John McCain’s cancer battle. (The McCain family shared earlier that year that he was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor.)

Joe Biden Diagnosed With 'Aggressive Form' of Prostate Cancer

At the time, Meghan explained that her father had been diagnosed with the same cancer Biden’s late son, Beau, battled years prior. As Meghan became tearful, Biden moved seats to be closer to her.

“I think about Beau almost every day and I was told — I’m sorry — that this doesn’t get easier, but that you cultivate the tools to work with this and live with this. I know you and your family have been through a tragedy that I couldn’t conceive of,” Meghan said at the time.

Biden went on to reply, “One of the things that gave Beau courage — my word — was John. Your dad, you may remember when you were a little kid, your dad took care of my Beau. Your dad … became friends with Beau. And Beau talked about your dad’s courage, not about illness, about his courage.”

Beau died in 2015 at age 46 after his battle with brain cancer, while the Arizona senator died in August 2018 at the age of 81. On Sunday, news broke that Biden had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Joe Biden Is ‘Concerned’ for King Charles III After His Cancer Diagnosis

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” a statement sent from Biden’s personal office to CNN read. “On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”

The statement continued, “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management.”

His family is currently “reviewing treatment options with his physicians.” Biden’s office previously confirmed that a “small nodule” had been found on his prostate during an annual physical. A statement said at the time, “In a routine physical exam, a small nodule was found in the prostate, which necessitated further evaluation.”

Brittany Snow Details Dating Horror Story Involving a Famous, Unnamed DJ

Brittany Snow is getting candid about her romantic life, including a less-than-great date she shared with a famous DJ.

“One of the first dates I’d ever gone on from Raya was this very famous DJ,” Snow, 39, said while appearing on the Friday, May 16, episode of the “In Your Dreams With Owen Thiele” podcast.

When host Owen Thiele asked Snow to name the famous DJ, the actress declined.

“I can’t tell you, but I’m sure that people can deduce it if they really want to. But he was like a very, he’s still famous, I guess,” she said, before making it clear that the DJ in question was not Diplo.

'Pitch Perfect' Cast's Dating Histories: Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson, More

“I never matched with Diplo, but this guy – we went out,” she said. “I think it was the first and second and third date that he fell asleep, once, while we were making out.”

She continued, to Thiel’s horror: “ Mid-make out. I’m not kidding. Swear to you.”

Snow went on to set the scene for Thiele and his listeners, telling the podcast host that she was “on his couch” when the DJ fell asleep during their smooch session.

“It’s late though and we’re, you know, just hanging out. We were talking and we weren’t doing anything very spicy,” she continued. “It was just making out and I was sort of sitting here, but kind of on him like this and kissing him, and then all of a sudden I sort of felt like no kissing back. Like, there wasn’t any reciprocation to the kissing and I looked at him and I pulled back and he was just dead asleep.”

Instead of simply getting up and leaving, Snow said she decided to wake the unnamed DJ up.

“I woke him up and I was like, ‘Hey, what the f*** is going on?’ And he was like, ‘Oh man, I’m sorry. I’m just so tired,’” she said. “I mean, he’s a DJ, so I was like, ‘Did you have a late set last night?’”

Brittany Snow to Detail Watching Ex on 'Selling the OC' Before Divorce

The Pitch Perfect star went on to clarify that the mystery man was “really apologetic” about the entire situation, promising her that he was going to “make it up” to her — only for it to happen again.

“He was very sweet about it,” she added. “We go out, like, a week later and he comes over to my place. Same thing. We’re kissing … We’re making out, he’s back asleep.”

In the end, Snow said that despite the DJ’s numerous apologies she “took it personally.”
“I was like, ‘Wow, I must really be just so hot.”

Snow married realtor and former professional surfer Tyler Stanaland in 2020 in an intimate outdoor ceremony in Malibu, California. Two years later, the pair announced their separation and Snow filed for divorce in January 2023. The former couple finalized the proceedings in July of that year.
