Jennette McCurdy‘s troubled relationship with her now-late mother serves as the inspiration for an upcoming show — but what is there to know aside from Jennifer Aniston’s casting?
Jennette got her start as a child star in Nickelodeon’s iCarly, Sam & Cat, Zoey 101, True Jackson, VP and Victorious. She briefly transitioned to music and more adult roles before quitting acting altogether to pursue a career in writing and directing.
In 2022, Jennette released a memoir titled I’m Glad My Mom Died, which quickly became a bestseller for its candid depiction of Jennette’s childhood, which involved abusive behavior from her since-deceased mother.
“It’s something I mean sincerely,” Jennette told BuzzFeed News in August 2022 about the title of her book. “I’m genuinely glad. If she were alive, I’d still be trapped. Every important decision in my life wouldn’t have been possible.”
I’m Glad My Mom Died will also be adapted into a TV show of the same name. Keep scrolling for everything to know about the upcoming Apple TV+ series:

Apple TV+ greenlit a series order for I’m Glad My Mom Died in July 2025. The first season will consist of 10 episodes and is written, executive produced, and showrun by Jennette and Ari Katcher. Aniston, Sharon Horgan and Merman, LuckyChap, Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay will also serve as executive producers.
What Is the Show About?
Based on the synopsis, I’m Glad My Mom Died is “a heartbreaking and hilarious recounting of McCurdy’s struggles as a former child actor while dealing with her overbearing, domineering mother.” The dramedy will “center on the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kid’s show, and her narcissistic mother who relishes in her identity as ‘a starlet’s mother.’”

Aniston is the only confirmed cast member, with I’m Glad My Mom Diedmarking her second lead role in a TV show since Friends came to an end in 2004. (Aniston also stars on Apple TV+’s hit series The Morning Show.) She will play Jennette’s mother onscreen.
What Has Jennette Said About Her Complicated Relationship With Her Late Mother?
“I’ve been so touched by how much the emotional thrust of the story has connected with people, which I see as being my relationship with my mom,” Jennette said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter after the book was released in 2022. “That’s an important and complicated relational dynamic to explore, and to see that people are responding to it has been amazing. And to see people responding to the humor of it and the aspect of exploring eating disorders and complicated grief, it’s really been incredible.”

Matthew McConaughey. Heath Ledger. Tom Hanks. Hugh Grant. You’d be hard-pressed to find an A-list actor in the ’80s, ’90s or early aughts who didn’t dip his toe in the rom-com pool. Films like You’ve Got Mail, Notting Hill and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days dominated the film landscape, garnering box office success, critical acclaim and guaranteed “It Boy” status for anyone playing the complicated and/or misunderstood knight in shining armor.
But the 2010s brought about a major drought for the genre. Raunchy sex comedies — No Strings Attached and Bad Teacher, for example — replaced earnest romance, love stories that were once celebrated became a premise for parody and just the whisper of the term “rom-com” had the most serious actors running for the hills.
There were, of course, a few breakaway hits, like Emma Stone’s 2010 female-forward Easy A, or 2011’s Crazy, Stupid, Love (featuringRyan Gosling’scrazy, stupid abs). But mostly, the landscape was dotted with low-budget attempts that were DOA.
It wasn’t until 2018 that a new romantic hero emerged.Glen Powelldefied the odds with a breakthrough performance in the criminally underrated Netflix rom-com Set It Up opposite Zoey Deutch. Five years later, he remained loyal to his roots with 2023’s box office juggernaut Anyone But You. The movie, loosely based on Much Ado About Nothing, surpassed Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 Romeo + Juliet as the highest-grossing Shakespeare adaptation of all time (take that, Leo!). That same year, Powell had Hit Man, which — despite its lack of a nationwide theatrical run — earned him Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice nominations. Two months later, he delivered yet another blockbuster romance with Twisters.
When it comes to the secret sauce of rom-com success, the actor has said that two things are necessary: fun and chemistry. Powell, of course, is one of those amalgamations who seems to create fireworks with all his leading ladies — Sydney Sweeney, Adria Arjona and Daisy Edgar-Jones, to name a few — but also understands the impact a well-executed romantic comedy can have on pop culture at large. Now other actors are following suit, once again dying to sink their teeth into these once-avoided roles.
When Renée Zellweger returned as Bridget Jones in last year’s Mad About the Boy, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall — two of today’s most in-demand actors — played her love interests. This summer, Pedro Pascaland Chris Evans fight for Dakota Johnson’s heart in Celine Song’s latest venture, Materialists, centered on a complicated love triangle that has spawned endless online conversations.
Younger rising stars also want in on the romantic action. Tom Blyth said he was “actively looking and reading a lot of rom-com scripts” just months before being cast as the lead in the adaptation of Emily Henry’s bestseller People We Meet on Vacation. And Dylan O’Brien confessed that he’d love to be part of a rom-com after growing up in an age where studios “put money” into the genre. “And then I also watched them go extinct, so to see them start to come back, it’s great,” he said while teasing the possibility of starring in another one of Henry’s upcoming films.
So who do we thank for the rom-com resurgence? Kate Hudson said during a 2024 appearance on The View that sparking interest is about “investing” in the right story, so perhaps Hollywood was listening. Others (like me) may credit Powell and Gosling for sticking by the genre despite its years of unpopularity, or the increase in book-to-screen adaptations that have a guaranteed built-in audience and ready-made source material. Perhaps life has become so hard, sweet escapism is what we crave most these days.
It doesn’t really matter why it’s happening — it’s just good news that it’s happening! Whoever you are, love remains a universal experience. It meets us where we are. Whether that’s healing from heartbreak, navigating our first real romance or finding the courage to try again, there is a rom-com for every person’s story. And that is something worth being a part of.

Trust me, we all have those days. Nothing fits right, colors are clashing, pieces are wrinkled and we’re (usually) running late. I’m a major proponent of planning outfits ahead; while a good ‘ol jeans and top duo never fails, it’s not the most comfortable getup.
If you’re a comfort connoisseur like me, comfortable means loose! I found a two-piece outfit on Amazon that gives me a Pilates mom aesthetic, all without squeezing, poking or highlighting insecurities. It’s the ideal outfit for when you don’t know what to wear, but still want to look effortlessly chic, put together and — depending on the occasion — expensive.
This set is as comfy as it gets, made of a skin-soft, light-as-air polyester, spandex and rayon blend.. The material is four-way stretchy and wrinkle-free, too! A kangaroo pocket, half-zip design and relaxed fit are just a few highlights of the top, as are breezy sleeves and a trendy lapel collar. The bottoms are just as swoon-worthy, featuring a jogger-style cuffs, a high elastic waist and roomy pockets for all your essentials.
While the pieces look stunning worn together, they can also be mixed and matched with others in your wardrobe. I wear the bottoms with a tank top and sneakers to the gym, but you can also pair them with a half-tucked white tee and sandals for a casual out-to-dinner outfit. The top layers beautifully with just about anything, so don’t be afraid to play around with it. You’re guaranteed to look like a celebrity mom!
There are 17 different colors to choose from and trust me, you’ll want them all. I snagged the taupe hue for a versatile, all-year-round style, but another color is in my cart. Reviewers are with me!
“Somehow, I look tall and slim,” one writes. “Not what I expected. It’s even better. I am 5’4, carrying about 10 pounds too much, with a bubble butt, curvy hips and medium size legs. This drapes on me beautifully. It flatters my butt, even if it does have a couple of dimples. I will order another suit or two in other colors . . .”
For far too long, reproductive health issues were treated as taboo subjects, but public health experts and celebrities have helped make huge strides in normalizing discussions around the menstrual cycle.
Dakota Johnson got very real in 2019 when discussing the ways in which she struggled physically and emotionally during her cycle.
“If I’m honest, my hormonal changes during my menstrual cycle are ruining my life,” she told InStyle at the time. “Every month. It’s unbelievable. It’s really f****** amazing. I can’t get a grip on it. I’m like, what? Every time, I’m totally scandalized about what happens to my body and my brain. My boobs are like eight times the size they normally are. It’s really a traumatic thing, and it happens every month.”
The Materialists actress added that her experiences inspired her to partner with the charitable group Global Citizen to promote reproductive health education for the developing world.
“I really would like to understand and be able to manage things a little better, know what’s happening in my body, and know what I’m putting into it,” she noted.

Brooks Nader
Nader revealed in July 2025 that her period unexpectedly started while she was watching a tennis match at Wimbledon. In a TikTok video, the model spun around in her cap-sleeve black blouse with a long white skirt to reveal a small bloodstain on the skirt.
“Tries to be chic. Starts at Wimbledon,” she joked.
Demi Lovato
The “Cool for the Summer” singer told People that her mom and sister celebrated when she revealed that she’d gotten her period for the first time.
“I told my mom and my sister [when I got my first period] … and they actually embarrassed me so bad,” she joked in 2015. “My sister folded a poster board in half and made a card out of it and drew pictures, and it said, ‘Happy Period Day!’”
Lovato went on: “[My sister] drew stick figures and kisses, and she used red markers … I have a pretty good sense of humor, so on one hand, I was totally embarrassed, and on the other, I thought it was awesome.”
Jennifer Lawrence
The Hunger Games actress explained to Harper’s Bazaar that her period has presented fashion challenges since it tends to occur right at the peak of awards season. Lawrence famously went with a “Plan B” dress for the 2016 Golden Globes to avoid discomfort.
“Plan A was a dress that I couldn’t wear because awards season is synced with my menstrual cycle, and it has been for years,” she said. “It was loose at the front. And I didn’t have to worry about sucking anything in. The other dress was really tight, and I’m not going to suck in my uterus. I don’t have to do that.”
Kate Winslet

In a 1998 Rolling Stone interview, Winslet remembered what it was like to shoot Titanic in a massive water tank at the same time as she was going through her period.
“I’m not saying it was all happy-clappy,” the Oscar winner said. “There were days when you’d just think, ‘Oh, my God, I’ve got my period and I can’t get in that freezing-cold water today.’ I remember standing up and saying to everyone, ‘Listen, if it suddenly looks like Jaws, the movie, it’s my fault.’”
Gigi Hadid
The supermodel spoke earnestly with friend Kendall Jenner for Vogue about the way her body changed throughout her cycle.
“My boobs are small right now. They get really big when it’s that time of the month,” Gigi explained.
Jenner nodded along and even joined in saying “that time of the month” with Hadid, indicating that she may have had similar experiences.
Lena Dunham
Dunham has spoken about undergoing a hysterectomy in 2017 following her endometriosis diagnosis. (According to the Mayo Clinic, endometriosis is a condition that results from the “inner lining of the uterus [growing] outside the uterus.” It can cause severe pain during menstrual cycles.)
The Girls creator told The Times U.K.that the medical procedure presented its own challenges for her viability to carry a child, since her uterus, cervix and one of her ovaries were removed.
“It was a grief but it was also a relief,” she said in June 2025. “I thought I would have the opportunity to experience my fertility and my cycle waning and it never was. Instead it was a very quick, sharp cut-off … I will say we’re in the process of expanding our family in new ways.”
Brooklyn Decker
Decker revealed in 2020 that she used Depends branded underwear — which help control leakage for those suffering from incontinence.— after giving birth to her second child. (Decker and husband Andy Roddick share son Hank and daughter Stevie.)
“If you don’t want to talk about periods, keep scrolling,” she joked via Instagram. “I don’t know why I’m putting this out there publicly, but wtf happens post-children that makes … well … let’s just say I am now in the depends-wearing stage of my period.”
The model received lots of love for speaking so frankly, with many of her famous followers sharing similar experiences. Life in Pieces star Angelique Cabral agreed that it’s “a war zone down there” after having kids, while Teresa Palmer said she was “still waiting for [my period] to return so I can’t have more babies.”
Amy Schumer

Schumer fronted a PSA in 2020, in partnership with tampon brand Tampax, to encourage others to “take control over their periods.” The humorous clip followed Schumer as she chatted with real people about their most vulnerable period stories.
“It made my heart hurt to hear about the discomfort people are putting up with because they don’t understand periods or even how to use a tampon properly,” she said at the time. “I want to do everything I can to change that. My hope is that through this partnership, we’ll educate ourselves and each other and take the senseless shame out of getting your period.”
Miley Cyrus
Cyrus revealed to Marie Clairein 2015 that she enlisted her mom Tish Cyrus’ help in a moment of dire need when she got her period on the Hannah Montana set. Unfortunately, the singer was wearing white pants at the time!
“It was so embarrassing, but I couldn’t leave,” she recalled. “And I was crying, begging my mom, ‘You’re going to have to put the tampon in. I have to be on set.”
Jack Osbourne paid tribute following his father Ozzy Osbourne’s final live performance with Black Sabbath on Saturday, July 5.
Ozzy, 76, headlined the Back to the Beginning festival at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham with a five-song solo set — including classic tracks “Mr. Crowley” and “Crazy Train” — and was then joined by original Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for four more songs — “War Pigs,” “N.I.B.,” “Iron Man,” and “Paranoid”— to finish the night. Following his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2019, Ozzy was seated in a throne throughout his set in front of a reported 42,000 fans.
“It’s so good to be on this f****** stage, you have no idea,” Osbourne told his fans. “Let the madness begin!”
His son Jack, 39, followed up the star-studded concert by sharing vintage footage of his father bringing him up on stage as a child.
“For everything I learned along the way…the final Good Night We Love You All,” Jack wrote via Instagram on Saturday.
Jack’s sister, Kelly Osbourne, and his mother, Sharon Osbourne, documented the day by sharing their own behind-the-scenes photos and videos from Back to the Beginning. (Ozzy and Sharon are also parents to 41-year-old daughter Aimee, but she did not post anything related to the concert via her social media.)
Dozens of punk, hard rock and heavy metal legends converged on Birmingham for one of the most impressive concert lineups in music history. Ozzy was supported by mini-sets from Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Alice in Chains, Slayer and Fred Durst, among many others.
There were medleys performed by one-off supergroups, including Travis Barker jamming with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and The Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. Barker’s wife, Kourtney Kardashian, shared footage of the drummer performing a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Symptom of the Universe” to express her pride over his involvement with the event.
The Osbournes announced that they were working on one final Black Sabbath show in February, to take place in Ozzy’s hometown of Birmingham. Proceeds from the event benefited the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
“It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning. … It’s time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” Ozzy said in a statement at the time. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
Ozzy retired from touring in 2023, following his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease and a severe spinal injury. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee recently confirmed on his Sirius XM radio show that he is no longer able to walk, but vowed not to let that stop him from performing for his hometown fans one last time.
“I do weights [and] bike riding, I’ve got a guy living at my house who’s working with me,” Ozzy told The Guardian in May. “It’s tough. I’ve been laid up for such a long time. I’ve been lying on my back doing nothing and the first thing to go is your strength. It’s, like, starting all over again.”
He went on, “I have problems walking. I also get blood pressure issues from blood clots on my legs. I’m used to doing two hours on stage, jumping and running around. I don’t think I’ll be doing much jumping or running around this time. I may be sitting down.”
Ozzy started his career with Black Sabbath in the late 1960s, before going solo in 1979. He has sold over 100 million albums throughout his career, and is a member of the U.K. Music Hall of Fame.
Sophia Hutchins, Caitlyn Jenner’s friend and manager, was reportedly speeding while driving an ATV before her deadly crash in Malibu on Wednesday, July 2.
It was reported that Hutchins was riding the ATV near her friend and client Jenner’s Malibu home when she struck a car on Wednesday morning. The collision reportedly caused the ATV and Hutchins to plunge 350 feet into a nearby ravine, where she was later pronounced dead at the scene. (Hutchins was 29 years old.)
Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Malibu / Lost Hills division, has since told The Daily Mail that Hutchins was driving a black and blue-colored 2013 Polaris utility vehicle when she collided with a gray 2016 Mazda 6. (The two women in the Mazda were not hurt.)
“It looks like she may have been speeding and rear-ended the other car, the other party, and then that caused her to veer to the right and go off the cliff,” Saucedo clarified. “It doesn’t seem like she was following them. I think she just came up on them and then hit the car.”
Saucedo suggested that Hutchins could have been trying to “maneuver” around the Mazda at the time of the crash.
“She was going too fast and just ended up clipping the rear end of that Mazda, causing her to veer off and go off the cliff there,” the officer theorized.
The officer confirmed that Jenner did visit the accident site as the investigation was underway. Investigators initially reportedly had to leave the damaged ATV in the ravine because local tow trucks did not have the necessary equipment to haul it back up the cliff.
Saucedo suggested that the investigators would wait for the coroner’s department to prepare a toxicology report before determining whether or not Hutchins was impaired while behind the wheel.
Us Weekly has reached out to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for comment.

Hutchins lived at Jenner’s Malibu home, where she also worked out of a converted guest house. She originally appeared on Jenner’s 2015 docuseries I Am Cait before becoming the athlete’s business manager. (Hutchins graduated from Pepperdine University with a degree in economics and finance in 2019.)
Jenner and Hutchins frequently denied that they were romantically involved. During a 2019 Good Morning Britain interview with Piers Morgan, she objected to questions about whether or not she and Jenner were “an item.”
“We have a really special relationship. I don’t think we need to be an item to have a really special relationship, so to speak,” she replied. “I am here for Caitlyn 1,000 percent and Caitlyn’s here for me 1,000 percent. I think the best way to describe our relationship is that we are partners in every sense of the word. When it comes to work, absolutely there for each other 100 percent. When it comes to family and our personal relationship, absolutely there for each other 100 percent and there’s no denying it.”
“I’ll never have a relationship in the future,” she explained. “I just don’t see that in my life. I am not looking for that.”
As part of her working partnership with Jenner, Hutchins negotiated the former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star’s involvement with the British reality showI’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! in 2019 and also secured her frequent corporate speeches.
Kourtney Kardashian took pride in her husband, Travis Barker, performing at Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert on Saturday, July 5.
“That’s my husband,” Kardashian, 46, beamed via her Instagram Story, alongside footage of Barker drumming.
Kardashian shared footage of Barker, 49, rocking out behind the drum kit while he covered Black Sabbath’s “Symptom of the Universe” alongside two other legendary drummers — Danny Carey, of Tool and Skinny Puppy, and Chad Smith, of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Barker was one of dozens of punk, hard rock and heavy metal icons taking part in the Back to the Beginning festival at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham, on Saturday. The special concert was promoted as Osbourne’s final performance with Black Sabbath following years of health woes. (Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in February 2019 and subsequently had to retire from touring due to a variety of physical ailments.)
Later, the Blink-182 member joined in on a medley of hard rock classics as part of a supergroup. He drummed on the blues standard “Train Kept A-Rollin'” with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and contributed to a cover of Osbourne’s 1983 hit “Bark at the Moon” with Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt and Ghost vocalist Tobias Forge (a.k.a. Papa Emeritus).
Barker shared several photos and videos from the event via his own Instagram Story, including a sneak peek at him hanging out with Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood backstage.
Earlier in the day, Kardashian revealed she’d accompanied her husband to the U.K. for the Back to the Beginning festival by sharing a look at their tea service. A pair of sunglasses and one of her children’s WWE action figures lingered in the background, as Kardashian drew attention to her “butter yellow” nail tips.

Kourtney was the only one of her sisters not to attend Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s star-studded wedding in Venice, Italy, last weekend. (Kris Jenner was in attendance for the gala alongside daughters Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner.)
Despite missing out on the wedding of the year, Kourtney seemingly had plenty of fun of her own as she posed in an oversized gray suit and a white dress shirt for a beach party.
Kourtney and Travis also recently brought their son Rocky along for a family outing at the WWE’s Money in the Bank event in Los Angeles. The Kardashians star cradled her baby boy as the cameras spotted the family sitting in the Intuit Dome. (Kourtney shares Rocky with Barker and has three children with ex Scott Disick: 15-year-old Mason, 12-year-old Penelope, and 10-year-old Reign. She is also a stepmother to Barker’s son Landon, 21, daughter Alabama, 19, and his stepdaughter, Atiana, 25,)
Elsewhere, Kourtney raised eyebrows during an appearance on her sister Khloé’s “Khloé in Wonder Land” podcast in May when she questioned why kids are required to go to school.
“Let’s say the school system. I’ll think, ‘Why do kids f****** go to school?’ Truly, it’s so dated,” Kourtney declared.
She went on, “I’ll start thinking, and then like, you know, my kids will send me videos about, like, ‘Why do kids go to (school)?’ It’ll be like, really successful people, and they’ll be like, ‘My kids never go to school and they’re never going to’ and whatever. And then I’m like, ‘OK, what’s the goal here? You want to do homeschool? Let’s do it.’”
Khloé backed up her sister’s hot take, insisting she has always been a “homeschool person.” (Khloé shares 7-year-old daughter True and 2-year-old son Tatum with ex Tristan Thompson.)
Former Chicago White Sox pitcher and 2005 World Series champion Bobby Jenksdied from cancer at age 44 on July 4.
Major League Baseball confirmed that Jenks passed away in Sintra, Portugal, where he was undergoing treatment for an advanced form of adenocarcinoma, a type of stomach cancer. He is survived by his second wife, Eleni Tzitzivacos, and their children, Zeno and Kate, as well as four children — Cuma, Nolan, Rylan and Jackson — from his previous marriage to Adele Romkee.
“Former Chicago White Sox All-Star pitcher and 2005 World Series Champion Bobby Jenks passed away yesterday, July 4, in Sintra, Portugal, where he had been battling adenocarcinoma, a form of stomach cancer. He was 44 years old,” the White Sox confirmed via X on Saturday, July 4.
White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf also mourned the loss of “an iconic member of the White Sox family.”
“None of us will ever forget that ninth inning of Game 4 in Houston, all that Bobby did for the 2005 World Series champions and for the entire Sox organization during his time in Chicago,” Reinsdorf, 89, added. “He and his family knew cancer would be his toughest battle, and he will be missed as a husband, father, friend, and teammate. He will forever hold a special place in all our hearts.”
Jenks helped end the White Sox’ 88-year World Series championship drought by delivering a scoreless ninth ending against the Houston Astros in Game Four in 2005. (Prior to their World Series win in 2005, the White Sox had not won the league’s championship since 1917.)
Former White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen referred to Jenks as “one of [his] all-time favorite players” following the announcement of the pitcher’s death.

“I loved that man,” Guillen said. “This is a very sad day for everyone involved with the White Sox. Everyone remembers the moment when I called for the big fella in the World Series, so the bobblehead of that moment will be a great way to keep that moment alive for White Sox fans.”
The former White Sox manager went on, “Everyone has a favorite story about Bobby, so the 2005 reunion [from July 11-13] will be a great opportunity to get together with all his teammates and coaches and relive some of our greatest memories of him.”
Jenks’ historic MLB career included holding the league’s record for retiring consecutive batters, at 41, and he was also a two-time All-Star. He pitched for the White Sox from 2005 to 2010 and then finished out his career with the Boston Red Sox in 2011.
He later worked as pitching coach and general manager for the Grand Junction Rockies, as part of MLB’s Pioneer developmental league. He coached for the Princeton WhistlePigs and the Windy City ThunderBolts as well.
Jenks announced his stomach cancer diagnosis in February during an interview with MLB.com from his hospital bed in Portugal. He confirmed that doctors discovered a tumor in his chest after a CT scan, with cancer ultimately spreading to his stomach lining, lower back, hips and bones.
“Now it’s time to do what I got to do to get myself better and get myself more time, however you want to look at it,” Jenks said at the time. “I’ll tell you one thing: I’m not going to die here in Portugal.”
He continued, “They are not going to put any numbers on it. I wouldn’t even want numbers. You hear stories all the time, ‘Oh, they gave me six months, 25 years ago.’ I don’t buy into that. Whatever happens is going to happen regardless.”
Jenks and his family’s difficulties were compounded when their Pacific Palisades, California home was lost in the Palisades Fire in January. Jenks managed to save his World Series but lost all other memorabilia from his career.
“I’ve got one suitcase left to my name,” Jenks admitted. “It’s all gone. Everything else I’ve ever done. I have everything, first to first. All those things are irreplaceable.”
Julian McMahon and Shannen Doherty briefly dated during the making of their classic TV series Charmed.
Tragically, the Charmed costars died within one year of each other after they both battled cancer. Doherty passed away at 53 in July 2024, while McMahon’s death was confirmed nearly one year later on July 4, 2025. The actor was 56.
The former couple reportedly got together during Charmed’s third season in 2001, which turned out to be Doherty’s last playing Prue Halliwell. At the time, Doherty’s departure – and the on-screen death of her character – were blamed partially on off-screen tension with costar Alyssa Milano, who played Prue’s sister, Phoebe Halliwell. (Rose McGowan was eventually cast as a long lost Halliwell sister, Paige, to essentially replace Doherty’s Prue.)
Doherty and McMahon’s dating situation during Charmed season 3 may have been especially complicated since McMahon played Milano’s on-screen love interest, Cole Turner. McMahon was also going through a divorce from first wife, Baywatch star Brooke Burns, at the time.
Doherty addressed the tense Charmed set environment during a December 2023 interview with former costar Holly Marie Combs on her “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty” podcast. Combs briefly acknowledged Doherty and McMahon’s relationship as she discussed the events that led up to Doherty being dropped from Charmed in 2001.
“You know, [Brian Krause, who played Leo] and [Alyssa] were dating at the time when this all went down, which, to me, us being completely oblivious, to me was the worst part,” Combs said. “Where, it was all sort of part of this plan that was happening and unfolding through over months. It was months of that year. You were dating Julian [McMahon]. So you guys were off in that world. Brian was off with Alyssa.”
Away from the Charmed set, Doherty and McMahon played lovers in the 2001 TV movie Another Day. In the film, Doherty’s character Kate developed feelings for childhood friend David (McMahon) after mysteriously being sent back in time to two days before her late boyfriend Paul’s death in a fire.

McMahon and Doherty were reportedly already split up by the time Another Day premiered. Having previously been married to actor Ashley Hamilton in the 1990s, Doherty wed poker player Rick Salomon in 2002, though they were granted an annulment the following year. (Salomon went on to promote a sex tape that he shot with ex-girlfriend Paris Hilton, and was later married to Pamela Anderson twice, between 2007 and 2008 and again between 2014 and 2015.)
Doherty married her third husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, in 2011. They announced their split in April 2023, but their divorce was not finalized until hours before Doherty’s death from breast cancer in July 2024.
Meanwhile, McMahon’s first marriage was with Australian pop star Dannii Minogue between 1994 and 1995. Following his divorce from second wife Burns in 2001, he tied the knot with third wife Kelly Paniagua in 2014 and was with her until his death.
McMahon’s family confirmed on July4 that he died following a private battle with an unspecified form of cancer. His former Charmed costar Combs mourned McMahon by expressing hope that he would reconnect with Doherty in the afterlife.
“One of a kind is an understatement,” Combs remembered via Instagram. “Your unyielding zest for life and crazy making sense of humor will be sorely missed. The joy and laughter you were the direct cause of will always be remembered.”
She then referenced Doherty in writing, “I hope you find our lady friend and dance in those rose petals.”
McMahon is survived by his third wife Paniagua and 25 year-old daughter Madison, who was born during his marriage to Burns.
“With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,” his wife, Kelly, said in a statement. “Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.”

Chase Chrisley is giving fans new insight into what they can expect from his family’s upcoming docuseries following his parent’s presidential pardon.
“It’s very different than Chrisley Knows Best, because as I’m sure anyone knows, Chrisley Knows Best was a family sitcom,” Chase told People in an interview published on Tuesday, July 1. “This is just raw, raw footage, raw. I’m like, ‘Can we go back to Chrisley Knows Best?’ Yeah, ‘Let’s just laugh.’”
Since the family’s inaugural reality TV series, Chrisley Knows Best, came to an end in March 2023, fans have been unable to see Todd Chrisley and his wife, Julie Chrisley, showcase their family life with kids, Chase, Savannah and Grayson Chrisley. (The couple also share adopted daughter Chloe, and Todd has two older kids from a previous relationship.)
In May, news broke that Lifetime was working with the Chrisley family on a new docuseries tentatively titled The Untitled Chrisleys Project following Todd and Julie’s arrest and subsequent conviction for bank fraud and tax evasion — acts the couple still deny.
“The Chrisleys don’t know best anymore,” a Lifetime statement said when teasing the upcoming project. “But they’re doing their best to be there for each other.”
After president Donald Trump issued full pardons for the couple in May, the docuseries will now include the couple’s return home and attempts to establish a new “normal” in the wake of their incarceration.
“We were actually at the tail end of filming,” he explained. “We’re still filming a little bit. I feel like for so long on Chrisley Knows Best, I played a character. Savannah played a character. We all did. We’re actually being able to be open and vulnerable, and show the highs, and show the lows, and no matter how low we get kicked down, we’re still going to get back [up].”
Now that his parents are free and able to participate in the new docuseries, Chase teases that the show will take on a whole new tone, adding that his father came out “guns blazing.”
“He’s ready for anybody and everybody,” he told the publication. “Anybody that knows anything about my dad knows that it’s changed.”
While the family is adjusting to having their matriarch and patriarch back at home and in front of the cameras, Chase says that in the end the pardon — and his parents’ involvement in the upcoming series — is a blessing.
“It’s an amazing adjustment, obviously,” he said. “I feel like throughout the entire process, even once, after the conviction, even after they went away, I knew deep down that like, ‘This is not it. This is not the end result. So I feel like I was carrying around, just waiting, waiting, waiting for something to happen.”
Influencer Maddison Steiner knows firsthand how plastic surgery can go awry.
Steiner underwent a breast augmentation in July 2024 after having given birth years prior, she told People in an interview published Saturday, July 5. “I felt ready to do something for myself and refresh the way I felt about my body.”
So Steiner found a Seattle-based surgeon and set up the procedure. At first, everything was going well and she felt confident in the results.
“The specific procedure I chose was labeled as a ’48-hour rapid recovery,’ meaning the healing process is meant to be very quick with minimal pain,” she said. “By 72 hours post-op, I felt great — like I was ready to get back to everyday life.”
Unfortunately, that’s when things started to go badly — and Steiner admits she’s the one to blame.
“I started lifting my toddler, even though my surgeon had specifically advised against lifting anything — including children — for six weeks,” she explained. “I misunderstood the instructions and thought it only applied to lifting things above my head, not to all lifting in general.”
After a few weeks, Steiner also realized that something was wrong — a reality that became even more apparent on Halloween. Once she took off her corseted costume, Steiner told the publication she “saw my implant slide into my armpit — it was visibly moving under my skin.”
Maddison SteinerMaddison Steiner IG
“I immediately contacted my surgeon, and he confirmed that the pocket on my left side had stretched,” she added. Maddison also said she had carried her toddler daughter on her left hip before the implant began to shift.
Steiner got in touch with her medical team, who confirmed something was wrong. “As soon as I realized something was wrong, I sent photos to my nurse. She immediately forwarded them to my surgeon, and the next morning, they called me in for an exam,” she continued. “Not long after, they scheduled me for a revision surgery just a few weeks later.”
Unfortunately, the second surgery was more difficult.
“The revision surgery was more painful than the first. My surgeon had to manually stitch the implant pockets to tighten them and prevent further shifting,” she explained. “When I first saw the results the day after surgery, I was honestly horrified. I thought I looked botched.”
“I started crying because the way he had tucked my breast to help the pocket heal made everything look very strange,” Steiner continued. Luckily, she added, it all worked out.
“He told me to trust the process and give it time, and he was right,”she explained. “After a few weeks of healing, everything settled perfectly, and I’m happy with the results.”

On Thursday, July 3, Hudson shared photos from a family vacation trip to Greece via Instagram. Hudson was in the country with her fiancée Danny Fujikawa, their daughter Rani Rose, as well as her son Bingham Bellamy (whom she shares with Matt Bellamy), her brother Oliver Hudson, his wife Erin Bartlett and their children, as well as her brother Wyatt Russell.
“Family summer We love you Greece,” she captioned the series of snaps.
Noticeably absent from the photos were Kate’s mom, Goldie Hawn, and her stepfather, Kurt Russell. Her biological father, Bill Hudson, and her mother were married from 1976 to 1982.
While speaking on the “Awards Chatter” podcast in June, Hudson revealed Kurt had once offered her a part in his 1996 movie Escape from L.A. — but she told him no.
“I went in and auditioned and got that part, and I sort of realized, ‘Oh, this is when you start to make choices that will define your career.’ And, ‘Do I want to be defined by being Kurt’s daughter who got this part? No,” she explained.
“[It doesn’t] matter if I got it because I was good enough — it would never be what people would ever think,” Hudson continued. “And I knew that and was like, ‘No, I can’t.’ So I ended up saying no to that, too.”
Kate HudsonKate Hudson Instagram
Even though they didn’t work together in the movie, Hudson has often cited Kurt as a source of inspiration. She told the podcast hosts that the fun she had on Kurt’s film sets as a child contributed to her decision to eventually become a bonafide actor herself.
“My dad’s sets were the fun sets,” Hudson added. “It was like Big Trouble in Little China and we had slides that would go down into rubber fish, and these amazing costumes … And the thing is, when you grow up on a movie set, it’s not that fun. [There] is a lot of waiting around, so you realize you really love it when you don’t want to get off the movie set.”
In fact, she told her parents she wanted to act when she was 11, but her mom shot the dream down.
“Performing was always something I knew I was going to do,” she explained. “There was never a question, but really falling in love with the circus was something that I don’t think all kids actually have when they’re on a set.”
During influencer Tanner Martin’s emotional funeral service, his mother revealed how he found a way to cope with his stage IV cancer diagnosis.
“You have been an outstanding example of faith,” his mom, Kimberly Martin, said in a eulogy delivered during his Saturday, July 5, memorial service. “Even while being very ill with cancer, if you could, you would attend sacrament meetings … in your PJs and robe.”
She added, “You taught me that you can see the blessings and love in our Savior in any situation. Because of that, it brings happiness.”
Tanner announced his own death in a pre-recorded social media video earlier this month. He was 30 and had documented his stage IV colon cancer battle via his social media accounts. (Martin was diagnosed in 2020, two years after marrying wife Shay Wright.)
“A couple years ago, I sat with you as you received chemo,” Kimberly added on Saturday. “It was quiet with a few other patients all getting chemo. I just asked you, ‘Are you angry or frustrated because I am?’ He looked surprised and said to me, ‘Ma, because of cancer, I have been so blessed. I’ve been able to experience our Savior’s love for me through others. I know I’m loved by my family, friends and those I interact with during treatments.’”
According to Tanner, he also credited his terminal cancer for introducing him to “the nurses and doctors and other patients [who] are so amazing.”
“‘I actually feel blessed,’” Kimberly recalled, before addressing her late son directly. “You chose to be happy and grateful even when you weren’t feeling well, [or] even when you were in the face of adversity. You were willing to share a smile, always willing to lift others.”
Tanner is survived by his parents, Kimberly and Thomas Martin, brother Spencer Martin, wife Wright and their newborn daughter.
“Watching you and Shay grow your family has been such a blessing and miracle to all of us,” his mom continued. “You have left an amazing legacy of faith, kindness, love and what it means to be a true disciple of our Savior for our sweet Amy Lou.”
Tanner’s dad also offered a eulogy on Saturday.
“It is an honor and pleasure to be his dad — and it still is,” Thomas tearfully said. “Shay has just been a wonderful companion. They got two years before he was diagnosed, and then they had five years with doctors’ visits and the struggle and the fight. There were still a lot of good times in those five years, but there were still a lot of other times, too. It sometimes doesn’t seem fair that I’ve had 30 Father’s Days, and Tanner had one.”
