Katie Couric is sending her love to a member of her Today show family.
The former coanchor of the NBC morning show took to Instagram on Friday, May 23, to pay tribute to Sheinelle Jones’ husband, Uche Ojeh, after his unexpected death at age 45. “Sending so much love, support and sympathy to @sheinelle_o following the loss of her beloved husband Uche after a valiant struggle with glioblastoma,” she wrote alongside a photo of the couple.
Couric, 68, continued, “My heart is breaking for her and their three children. Please hold them in your hearts. Love you Sheinelle .”
Couric left her role as Today’s coanchor in 2006, eight years before Jones, 47, joined the series as a Weekend Today cohost. Jones has served as a cohost of the show’s third hour alongside Al Roker, Craig Melvin and Dylan Dreyer since 2019.
Jones has been absent from Today since December 2024. In January, she clarified via Instagram that she was “taking time to deal with a family health matter.” During Friday’s Today broadcast, Savannah Guthrie broke the news that Ojeh had died after a private battle with the brain cancer glioblastoma.

“There are no words for the pain that we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him,” Guthrie, 53, tearfully announced.
The show aired a video package revisiting the couple’s biggest moments, from falling in love as students at Northwestern University to their 2007 wedding to becoming parents to their three kids — son Kayin, 15, and twins Clara and Uche, 12.

“We just want to say Sheinelle, Kayin, little Uche and Clara, the Ojeh family, we are with you. We love you,” Guthrie added. “You are our family, and we are just sending all of our love to you right now.”
Jones broke her silence on Ojeh’s death by sharing her colleagues’ on-air tributes via Instagram. “Thank you, for all of your love and support ,” she wrote alongside the clip on Friday.
Couric went through a similar experience as Jones when she lost her first husband, Jay Monahan, to colon cancer at age 42 in 1998. The spouses, who wed in 1989, shared daughters Ellie, 33, and Carrie, 29. She found new love with her husband, John Molner, whom she wed in 2014.
Couric became a grandmother in March 2024 with the birth of Ellie and her husband Mark Dobrosky’s son, John. Her grandson was named after Jay, whose full name was John Paul Monahan.
Earlier this year, Couric exclusively told Us Weekly that her husband’s legacy lives on through their kids and baby John. “Now every time I see Baby Jay, I think of my Jay and Ellie and Carrie’s Jay,” she shared in March while promoting the Cologuard Classic by Exact Sciences golf tournament to help raise colon cancer awareness.
“I always think of how proud he would be of them,” she added. “So, we think about him a lot.”

If you’ve been looking for a great time to catch up on all of the Netflix shows you’ve been meaning to watch, a three-day holiday weekend has arrived just in time.
Netflix’s global productions are so numerous that it’s a rare when the streamer doesn’t have some incredible international series that are just waiting to be discovered by a global audience.
This week, Netflix has a high-profile limited series called Sirens as well as the noir-ish drama from Denmark called Secrets We Keep.
To close out the final selection on the Watch With Us team’s underrated Netflix shows to watch this weekend, we went with a true crime story set in the Vatican.
House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock has a central role in Sirens as Simone DeWitt, the devoted personal assistant to billionaire Michaela “Kiki” Kell (Julianne Moore). But when Simone is tracked down by her older sister, Devon DeWitt (Meghann Fahy), she can’t see that she’s been taken in by a cult of personality surrounding Michaela. Simone may have more power than the rest of Michaela’s followers, but she’s just as trapped as they are and doesn’t even realize it.
Even Michaela’s husband, Peter Kell (Kevin Bacon), acknowledges that the hold she has on Simone and her other employees is abnormal. But Devon is the only one willing to stand up to Michaela to do something about it, whether Simone wants her help or not.
It’s time to turn on the subtitles for another Nordic noir. Unless you’re fluent in Danish, of course. Secrets We Keep revolves around Cecilie (Marie Bach Hansen), a woman living with her husband, Mike (Simon Sears), and their children in an affluent neighborhood. Cecilie and her au pair, Angel (Excel Busano), both become concerned about Ruby (Donna Levkovski), the au pair for their neighbors, Katrina (Danica Curcic) and Rasmus (Lars Ranthe).
Ruby confided in Cecilie that she wasn’t happy living with her employers, and the next day she went missing. It’s very suspicious that Ruby is nowhere to be found, but her money and passport have been left behind. Neither Ruby’s employers nor the police seem that concerned about her fate, with perhaps the lone exception of the town’s new detective, Aicha (Sara Fanta Traore). To figure out what happened to Ruby, Cecilie and Aicha may have to work together to get the ugly truth out in the open.
‘Vatican Girl: The Disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi’ (2022)
The Vatican, as seen in the recent hit Conclave, isn’t just the heart of the Catholic Church — it’s also a sovereign country. And it’s not without occasional mysteries or scandals of its own. One of the most infamous examples of that is the still-unsolved case of Emanuela Orlandi, a 15-year-old girl who went missing in 1983.
Vatican Girl: The Disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi dives into the backstory of the story surrounding that event. There’s more speculation than answers awaiting viewers here, but the theories point the finger at everything from terrorist plots to organized crime and even the Catholic Church itself. It’s been over 40 years since Orlandi vanished, but her family hasn’t stopped asking the Vatican to share anything the church knows about what happened to her.
Vatican Girl: The Disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi is streaming on Netflix.
Sydney Sweeney sent temperatures soaring on Friday, May 23, when she went for a breezy bike ride in head-to-toe Miu Miu while on vacation, and just in time for the holiday.
When the Euphoria actress shared the photos on Instagram, the post instantly went viral, garnering 350,000 likes in under an hour. This was undoubtedly thanks partly to her skimpy skirt, which previously caused a social media sensation when it debuted on the Miu Miu runway.
Since then, the hems at the French fashion house have continued to shrink, and Sweeney, 27, is using the long weekend to show off the Internet’s favorite, most-talked-about micro mini skirt.
“Just wandering around,” Sweeney captioned the cheeky post. With the wind in her hair and sand on her bare feet, she leaned over the front of her beach cruiser-style white bicycle, made a duck face pose for the camera, and poked out her bum to highlight the skirt’s scant proportions.
Intentionally cut to be a cropped alternative to the traditional mini skirt, Miu Miu’s daring length, or lack thereof, has a barely-there bottom that is all but guaranteed to turn heads (and get just as many Instagram likes). For her part, Sweeney doubled down on the idea of less is more with an itty bitty black tube top embroidered with the brand’s logo in similarly small white lettering.
Courtesy of Sydney Sweeney / Instagram
In true Miu Miu girl fashion, Sweeney didn’t ride off into the sun without her beloved Wander bag hanging from the handlebars, and the style name also seemed to inspire her Instagram caption.
The moment recalled another It Bag thirst-trap that Sweeney posted back in December 2024. At the time, she went topless underneath a cozy cardigan and only a designer bag to conceal her. The styling left little to the imagination but spoke volumes about her love for all things Miu Miu.
Jamie Foxx won’t forget the wild rumors that once surrounded his health scare.
“I snuck in my phone because I didn’t know what the outside world was saying, and I couldn’t get my mind around the fact that I had a stroke,” Foxx, 57, shared with The Hollywood Reporter in a roundtable interview published Thursday, May 22. “I’m in f***ing perfect shape. [I see things like,] ‘Puffy tried to kill me.’ No, Puffy didn’t try to kill me.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Diddy’s team for additional comment. (The rap mogul’s team has long maintained the rumor was entirely false and unfounded.)
That wasn’t the only crazy — and false — rumor that spread online during Foxx’s hospitalization.
“When they said I was a clone, that made me flip,” Foxx said in his latest interview. “I’m sitting in the hospital bed, like, ‘These bitch-ass motherf***ers are trying to clone me.’ And then I saw me walk into my room, but I’m white, so I see the white me.”
After Foxx shared his theory that hospital staff were trying to clone him, one psychiatrist asked if the actor was alright.
“I say, ‘Am I alright or am I all-white? I saw you trying to get the white motherf***ing Jamie Foxx and it ain’t going to happen,’” Foxx recalled. “[The doctor] just calmly goes, ‘I think we’re going to lower your dosage.’”
In the Netflix comedy special, the actor said he experienced a bad headache in April 2023. The symptoms later led to a brain bleed, which led to a stroke.
In a rare public appearance at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, Foxx shined a light on how his health scare transformed his outlook on life.
“You know how you take a picture on your cell phone and you hit that first filter and it brightens up? That’s the way life looks now. Everything is altered,” Foxx shared with E! News. “When it actually happens to you, you appreciate it more, I appreciate these moments more.”
Throughout his recovery, Foxx tried to remain largely tight-lipped about the specifics of his health scare. In July 2023, however, the actor made a rare statement to clarify some of the rumors surrounding his condition.
“You know, by being quiet, sometimes things get out of hand, people saying what I got [and] some people said I was blind, but as you can see the eyes are working. The eyes are working just fine!” he said in an Instagram video. “They said I was paralyzed, I’m not paralyzed, but I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery had some potholes as well. I’m coming back and I’m able to work.”
Britney Spears’ latest plane ride appeared to be a bumpy ride.
According to TMZ, the “I’m a Slave 4 U” singer, 43, was flying on a private jet from Cabo San Lucas to Los Angeles on Thursday, May 22, when she started drinking alcohol on the plane.
During the flight, Spears allegedly pulled out a cigarette, lit it and started smoking.
At one point in the trip, the flight attendants became alarmed and allegedly ordered the singer to put out the cig. Although Spears complied, the singer was met by authorities when she landed at LAX airport and was warned about her conduct, TMZ reported.
Us Weekly has reached out to Spears’ rep and LAX police for comment. Private plane service JSX had no comment when reached by Us.
Earlier this week, Spears posted videos of herself dancing at what appeared to be a tropical destination. She didn’t leave a caption on her Instagram posts and continues to have comments turned off. (A source previously told Us in May 2024 that Spears considers her dancing Instagram videos “work,” adding that they “keep her entertained.”)
Ever since Spears’ conservatorship came to an end in late 2021, the singer has continued to stay away from the music industry.
At the same time, she’s had a lot to celebrate, including a recent reunion with her younger son, Jayden, 18. (The “Toxic” singer and ex-husband Kevin Federline also share Preston, 19.)
“He’s open to mending the relationship with his mom and seeing where things go,” a source exclusively told Us for a December 2024 cover story. “Britney was very excited to hear from him; [it] means everything to her.”
At home in Los Angeles, multiple sources told Us that Spears has a small circle of friends who regularly check in with her. One insider, however, warned that the singer can be “all over the place, and very hot and cold.”
“[She’s either] on top of the world happy or crying because of a paparazzi photo,” the insider shared.
Looking toward the future, those closest to Spears are hopeful she can continue pursuing projects she’s passionate about like dancing, jewelry and writing.
“She’s been getting excited about a lot of different projects,” a source previously told Us before teasing a possible dance studio gig for Spears.
Another insider added, “Britney lives a very low-key life. She’s not career-focused — she only wants to do things that bring her happiness right now.”
Stark, 33, and Guzman, 37, who star as Evan “Buck” Buckley and Eddie Diaz, respectively, have become fan-favorite characters over the show’s eight seasons — largely in part to the duo’s close onscreen friendship (and, at times, speculated romance). It’s no surprise that some of their most iconic moments on the show have been together, from fights to saving each other’s lives and more.
Filming together, however, isn’t always as easy as it seems behind the scenes. While speaking exclusively to Us Weekly, Stark confessed that the season 4 episode “Suspicion,” in which Eddie gets shot, was particularly challenging — but not for reasons one would expect.
“It wasn’t a particularly heavy day emotionally because we knew he was gonna survive, right? It was a heavy day that I had to keep throwing him over my shoulder, to throw him into the back of the fire truck,” Stark told Us with a laugh. “And most people when they do a scene like that, they’ll ask questions like, ‘Ah, is it OK that your back doesn’t hurt?’ Whatever. This is no word of a lie: Between every single take, Ryan was eating chocolate cake. And I have to throw him over my shoulder. And I’m like, ‘Why are you making yourself heavier for me?!’”
Here, the duo look back at some of their most popular scenes for Buck, Eddie, and the friendship that has been lovingly dubbed Buddie:
Season 3, Episode 9: Buck Asks Eddie to Go for the Title
Oliver Stark: Ah, yeah, this kitchen scene. There’s meant to be, the way that it read to me anyway, it’s a lot of tension. There’s a lot of buildup [to] the point that you’re like, “The heck is about to happen here? Are they gonna fight or what?” And then there’s, like, a smash cut to them playing video games. But it was fun to see the limit that you could take it to, how much you could amp it up and then undercut it with the video games. But I think there’s something previously in that episode where, because we’re talking about fighting, I think I said to him, “I thought you were gonna hit me.” And he says something like, “Bet I can beat you up.” And it goes from there and it’s basically we’re just each trying to one-up each other until smash cut to playing video games with Chris (Gavin McHugh), and I love that the show plays between tones so well. It does feel really intense, but it never takes itself too seriously for too long. I think that’s a strength of the show, and really, this scene is a great example of that.
Season 4, Episode 4: Buck Yells at His Parents to Love Him ‘Anyway’
OS: This seemed very emotional, cathartic. If there’s ever any time you’ve wanted to scream at your parents, this was a really big scene for me and it precedes, if I remember correctly, the “Buck Begins” episode, which is a look back into his childhood. I think we played it lots of different ways, if I remember correctly, how heated it gets. And there’s this line in the scene that I really love, which I just thought was so fitting for Buck. He talks about having walked through fire every single day because of his parents and because of the upbringing. And we find out later, I think later in the episode, that Buck was basically born to be a donor to his brother, who had leukemia. And that gives so much context to his childhood for him. All of that angst that came out of that childhood came spilling out in the scene. I remember Kenny [Choi]came up to me. We shot my coverage and the camera was facing me. And when I would shout at Dee [Wallace], who plays my mom in the show, she would always, like, shudder a bit when I got loud. And Kenny came up and he was like, “You see, she keeps on jumping back? Make sure when it’s on her coverage you shout just as loud to get that kind of scare out of her!” So obviously we did. Her and Greg [Harrison], who plays my dad, are both fantastic actors. So it was just nice for everybody to come together and work for each other in the scene. And I really love the way it came off.
Season 4, Episode 13: Eddie Gets Shot
Oliver Stark, Ryan GuzmanABC
OS: The scene where Eddie gets shot, it wasn’t a particularly heavy day emotionally because we knew he was gonna survive, right? It was a heavy day that I had to keep throwing him over my shoulder, to throw him into the back of the fire truck. And most people when they do a scene like that, they’ll ask questions like, “Ah, is it OK that your back doesn’t hurt?” Whatever. This is no word of a lie: Between every single take, Ryan was eating chocolate cake. And I have to throw him over my shoulder. And I’m like, “Why are you making yourself heavier for me?” But I was probably throwing him extra hard to spite him back. I think my biggest concern on the day, because I remember getting almost quite in my head about it, is he gets shot from behind and the blood splatters over my face — the timing of me reacting to the blood. Because [if someone’s going to] hide down here with a squirt gun and blast me in the face with blood, it is very difficult to convince yourself you don’t know that’s about to happen, so some part of you is ready to recoil for it, but Buck doesn’t know that it’s about to happen. So trying to trick my brain into, “Here we are just talking, oh, no, here it comes?” That was my biggest difficulty on the day. But the take that we got actually worked perfectly, however many changes of a white shirt that I was wearing later. We really had a lot of fun with that episode, crawling under the fire truck and getting to do all the things that I love to do on the show. The physical stuff and just committing to it. Thankfully it really turned out.
Ryan Guzman: Honestly, the only thing I was thinking about is my cousin, and he had been to war six different tours and he’d seen plenty of people getting shot. And I remember him telling me something about people getting shot and how sometimes it just goes right through you. So it was very kind of graphic, I guess, in my mind. But I was really just trying to keep it calm and grounded for the scene. But yeah, shout-out to my cousin and those that serve.
Season 5, Episode 13: Eddie Breaks Down to Buck
Ryan GuzmanABC
RG: Man, what I’m thinking right there is I am drained. I’ve been crying all day. And I cried on my takes and Oliver’s takes. So it was just nonstop. My eyes were puffy by the end of the night. It was cathartic, I guess it was a release or whatever. Maybe I had been holding on for whatever, for 30 years. It was fun.
Season 7, Episode 4: Buck Plays Jealous Basketball
OS: It was very fun for about an hour and a half. Six hours later, my knees were hurting, I was out of breath. Well, actually, I was out of breath within the first 10 minutes. But it was great. We had a beautiful location and basketball court, as you know if you’ve seen the scene, like, right on the ocean. So we were all really happy to be there. And it just felt like something different for the show. We weren’t in the firehouse, we weren’t in the firetrap. We [weren’t in] one of our houses and we were getting to do something different. None of us are particularly skilled in the art of basketball, which I think is good. If one of us was really, really good and the rest of us were really bad, I think we wouldn’t have had so much fun together. But it was a really fun day of working out different, mostly choreographed plays. I didn’t expect it to go that way. Naively, I thought it’d be, like, just play basketball and see what happens. But it wasn’t, it was a rehearsed almost dance of, “Alright, you’re gonna pass over there so then this guy’s gonna move over here,” and how to set up and tell the story through the plays. I naively just thought I was gonna get to play basketball for a day freely, but it all worked out and we got to tell the story through the game, as it were. And yeah, definitely one of my favorite days as I look back on 9-1-1.
Season 8, Episode 17: Eddie and Buck Fight in the Kitchen
Ryan GuzmanABC
OS: So the most recent Buck-Eddie fight, fueled by grief and differing levels of grief, and Eddie is dealing with the fact that he wasn’t there for the death and Buck is dealing with the fact that he was there for the death. And so those are already two conflicting things, and I love the way this scene came together. I didn’t realize this when we were making it, but it’s all shot handheld, the camera’s kind of shaking at points, and it feels very raw, which I think is very fitting with the kind of emotions that are going on here. I didn’t realize during the scene that Ryan was gonna grab hold of me and lunge at me, but during the duration of the show, we’ve kind of built such a trust, myself, him and the rest of the cast. So you have that kind of sandbox to play in. There’s a high level of trust, so if somebody wants to try something, you feel like you have the space to do that. And I love the way the scene came together.
Us Weekly: So you had no idea that was going to happen?
OS: No, like, “Get off me.”
Us: Did you and Ryan have any conversations before that or did you kind of just go right into it?
OS: No, so the show, we don’t really rehearse beforehand. I mean, obviously, we rehearse on the day and work it out with the director and the [director of photography] and then we set the cameras up. But everybody always comes with their own ideas. And the way that it always comes together is that the best idea in the room wins, which is oftentimes an amalgamation of different people’s ideas. You know, “I thought I wanted to move over here,” and, “Oh, well I wanted to move over here.” Right? “Well, what if we kind of do this instead?” And it just comes together and we’ve gotten quicker and quicker and more in sync with each other at doing that over the years.
RG: Yeah, this scene, it had so many great textures, again, thanks to [showrunner] Tim [Minear]. And Oliver’s, right. We rehearsed it one time, but I did it super bland, mellow as can be. And then the director pulls me off to the side and says, like, “You want to hit him right now? Do you wanna punch him?” And I go, “I don’t know if I wanna punch him! But let’s play with that.” And lo and behold, I started elevating the pushing.
In the world of celebrity, Cannes Film Festival is known for two things: over-the-top fashion moments and excessive standing ovations.
Since the festival’s new dress code bans theatrical extravagance — including long trains and naked dresses — invested fans are left to entertain themselves with reports of the amount of time our favorite stars spent clapping for the new films.
While it’s unknown where the practice of extended applause at Cannes originated, film buffs have clung onto the practice as a litmus test for a film’s success and awards potential — on par with the festival’s coveted Palme d’Or award. (The current record is held by Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth, with a reported 22 minutes of clapping at the 2006 festival.)
Take last year for example: The Substance, Emilia Pérez and Anora were among the films with the longest standing ovations at Cannes — reportedly 11, 10 and nine minutes, respectively — and the trifecta of films went on to score 24 nominations total. However, Anora took home the most coveted Best Picture prize at the Academy Awards despite having the lowest applause total of the three.
Whether it’s a perfect science or not, we remain fascinated by the event’s standing ovation culture, and Us Weekly has broken down the applause totals from this year’s festival (May 13-May 24) in our Cannes Clap-o-Meter:
Leo Lewis O’Neil’s raw documentary that centers on Shia LaBeouf’s experimental theater company and devolves into what Variety calls “ego-driven insanity, complete with physical violence and harrowing screaming matches,” garnered a two-minute ovation. LaBeouf himself turned up to the screening to watch the film for the very first time. “I’ve done a lot of coming to terms with the failure that was my life, and the plastic foundation I had,” the actor says in the opening moments of the doc. “I left a lot of people in the wake of my personality defects.”
Spike Lee’s neo-noir crime thriller reunites him with Denzel Washington for the fifth time since their last project together, 2006’s Inside Man. Also starring Jeffrey Wright and ASAP Rocky, the film is a modern reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 classic, High and Low, which was based on Ed McBain’s 1959 novel King’s Ransom. Rocky drew plenty of attention, as he was accompanied by a pregnant Rihanna at the premiere.
Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut, which stars 95-year-old June Squibb in a role that could earn her an Oscar nod, earned a six-minute ovation, according to Deadline. The story centers around a woman grieving the loss of her best friend and roommate as she embarks on a journey to Manhattan to live with her daughter and grandson. Calling the film “very timely,” Johansson could be seen in a long embrace with Squibb during the rapturous applause.
Adapted from Lidia Yuknavitch’s best-selling 2011 memoir, Kristen Stewart’s long-in-the-works feature directorial debut stars Imogen Poots and left enthusiastic viewers moved and satisfied. Jim Belushi and Thora Birch also star. Stewart herself told moviegoers (per Deadline) that the film is “about iteration. Getting up and trying again. Repossessing your body, your desires, your ambitions and your dreams. I wanted to create a form that was unruly and, again, hard to pin down.”
While Variety clocked Eddington’s ovation at five minutes, Deadline reported seven minutes for Ari Aster’s modern western. The film is set in the COVID era of May 2020 and stars Joaquin Phoenix — who was brought to tears during the extended applause — Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Austin Butler and more. The movie is Aster’s highly anticipated followup to features Hereditary, Midsommar and Beau Is Afraid.
The Tom Cruise-helmed series’ epic finale had its O cut short so the team could give speeches. “I’m just very grateful, very grateful for 30 years to be able to entertain you with this franchise,” Cruise reportedly told the crowd, while his costar Tramell Tillman was patiently waiting for the speeches to be over so he could relieve his bladder.
"So, finally, the credits roll and I'm thinking, 'Okay, finally, we're done. I can get up and I [can] leave,'" the Severance star recalled to Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday May 21’s episode of his late-night show. "I stand up, there's a cameraman who has this camera right on my face, and they're now filming the seven-minute standing ovation. So I can't go anywhere! And I'm thinking, 'Please, for the love of God, stop celebrating us and let me go pee.'"
Wes Anderson’s latest quirky flick features Mia Threapleton — Kate Winslet’s daughter, in her breakout role — who was left in tears as the audience raved for seven-plus minutes. The film also stars Benicio Del Toro, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, Willem Dafoe and F. Murray Abraham in an ensemble dysfunctional family comedy set in 1950.
As a screwball comedy about an open marriage, Michael Angelo Covino’s comedy was certainly a standout at the film festival. Cannes newbie Dakota Johnson gave Covino — who declared, “We need to keep making comedies for Cannes, plain and simple. Because laughter should be seen in a theater, not on a television screen” — a hug as the audience roared for a reported eight minutes. The film also stars Adria Arjona, Kyle Marvin and Nicholas Braun.
Centered on a woman “engulfed by love and madness,” Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson’s new drama is already earning the actress Oscar buzz in her first film since welcoming her second baby with husband Cooke Maroney. (Pattinson also recently became a dad, welcoming his first child with Suki Waterhouse in March 2024!) Based on the 2017 novel by Ariana Harwicz, the movie also stars LaKeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek and Nick Nolte.
Director Oliver Hermanus praised “the genius that is Paul Mescal” — who stars opposite Josh O’Connor in the period piece — in his post-screening remarks. The two actors’ characters meet at Boston Music Conservatory in 1917, and the film follows the next few decades as the pair reminisce on their brief connection.
While Variety reported Vie Privée (A Private Life)’s ovation as eight minutes, Deadline clocked an extravagant 10 minutes. The crowd reportedly cheered wildly for star Jodie Foster, even as the actress gestured toward director Rebecca Zlotowski. In the Paris-set film, Foster stars as a Freudian analyst who seeks to solve the mystery of her client’s death.
Not only did Richard Linklater’s French-language title (starring Guillaume Marbeck and Zoey Deutch) earn an 11-minute ovation from the crowd, including an enthusiastic Quentin Tarantino, it also drew the Pulp Fiction filmmaker to watch the film twice in just eight hours.
Despite a reported medical emergency an hour into the film’s runtime, director Julia Ducournau (who won the Palme d’Or for Titane in 2021) was treated to 12 minutes of applause for her genre-bending film. Starring Tahar Rahim, Golshifteh Farahani, Mélissa Boros and Emma Mackey, the story takes place in the ‘80s and ‘90s when a troubled young girl’s world collapses after she comes home from school with a tattoo one day.
Clocking in at a whopping 19 minutes, the standing ovation for Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Trier’s feature might just prove the statement star Elle Fanning wore on her T-shirt ahead of the screening (which Charli XCX also declared at Coachella): “Joachim Trier Summer.” Also starring Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, the film follows a complex family of filmmakers as Skarsgård’s Gustav hopes to make his comeback movie.
The Hollywood and news communities are supporting Sheinelle Jones in the wake of her husband Uche Ojeh’s death.
Savannah Guthrie announced on the Friday, May 23, episode of Today that Ojeh recently died at age 45 after a private battle with the brain cancer glioblastoma. “There are no words for the pain that we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him.”
Jones, 47, served as her husband’s tour guide at Northwestern University, and the two fell in love during their college days in the late ‘90s. Ojeh proposed on the school’s campus and the two tied the knot in September 2007.
They first became parents with the birth of their eldest son, Kayin, in August 2009, and expanded their family with the birth of twins Clara and Uche in July 2012.

He later stated it was “remarkable” to see how Jones tackled her husband’s health battle while continuing to raise their three kids. “Every time you would talk to her, she would still find a way to laugh about something,” Melvin noted.

The end of the month is coming up fast, and Peacock will be resetting its movie library very soon.
Unlike many of the other streamers, only a handful of titles are on Peacock long term. Even the films owned by Peacock’s parent company, Universal Pictures, regularly cycle in and out.
The first two titles on Watch With Us‘ list of the three underrated Peacock movies to watch this weekend are films that won’t be sticking around in June.
Our third pick is a recently debuted true crime documentary that has enough mystery to fill up a novel. If you love that genre, it’s a can’t miss experience.
Last year, British singer Robbie Williams starred in his own biopic, Better Man, as a CGI chimpanzee. Pharrell Williams (no relation) went even further with his music biopic, Piece by Piece, which retells his life story as an animated Lego film. That not only allowed Williams to play himself, it opened the doors for his wife, his parents and more to portray themselves as well.
Several of Williams’ friends and collaborators in the music industry also lent their voices to their Lego counterparts, including Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z. But it is ultimately Williams’ story of how he broke into the music industry and how creating music for other artists initially kept him from creating music for himself. Once Williams got past that, he had a few more stumbling blocks along the way, not all of which were made out of Lego.
Game of Thrones‘ Rose Leslie and Harry Treadaway star as a newly married couple, Bea and Paul, in Honeymoon. Don’t let the title fool you into thinking that this is some kind of rom-com, though. The honeymoon is over pretty quickly when Paul discovers Bea naked and disoriented in the woods during their vacation.
Bea claims she was just sleepwalking, but she begins displaying disturbing behavior and a lack of knowledge about their life together that unnerves Paul. As far as Paul knows, the woman who came back with him may not even be his wife. But getting answers from Bea leads to some strange and dangerous situations for the couple, and no therapy can fix this.
Southern Fried Lies expands on a real true crime story that features running commentary from one of the perpetrators and one of the victims. It’s twisty enough that someone should make a real movie out of this, because Donna Herring is quite a character. Years ago, Donna decided that she wanted her daughter, Alex Herring, to marry the richest man in town, Matthew Jacobs. And they pulled it off.
The source of Jacobs’ wealth stemmed from a settlement that he got after surviving the Deepwater Horizon Oil Rig explosion. It’s not a huge spoiler to say that Jacobs didn’t survive his marriage. But the thing that caught the attention of the police is that Matthew’s will gave everything to Alex and left nothing for his son, Jordan Jacobs. As suspicious as that sounds, the tale gets even wilder from there, and both Jordan and Donna get to share their perspective on how everything went down.
One of the great mysteries surrounding Bill Belichick’s relationship with girlfriend Jordon Hudson finally has a resolution.
In 2023, a shirtless Ring surveillance camera video of Belichick, 73 slinking out of an unknown home circulated online.
While details about the video remained scarce, it didn’t prevent Belichick’s former New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, from bringing it up at his infamous live Netflix roast in May 2024.
“Everybody asks me which ring is my favorite,” Brady, 47, said. “I used to say, ‘The next one.’ But now that I’m retired, my favorite Ring is the camera that caught Coach Belichick slinking out of that poor girl’s house at 6 a.m. a few months ago.”
At the time, it was believed that Belichick was leaving Hudson’s house, who was his rumored girlfriend at the time.
However, on the Friday, May 23 episode of the “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast, journalist Pablo Torre reportedly uncovered thereal story behind the video — and even found a new one.
Torre, 39, managed to discover a separate Ring camera video of a “very shirtless” Belichick leaving the same home around the same time as the first video, which were both discovered to be taken in July 2023 when Belichick was still head coach of the Patriots.
Using a team of geo guessers, including social media personality Rainbolt, Torre was able to zero in on the exact location of the house in the video: an Airbnb in Winthrop, Massachusetts, roughly 7 miles outside of Boston.
Not only did Torre find the location of the home, he made the trip there himself.
Bill Belichick and Jordon HudsonKevin Mazur/Getty Images
During his time in Winthrop, Torre met the married owners of the Airbnb, who live directly above oceanside property. In an interview with Torre, the owners recalled Hudson and Belichick’s fateful stay.
“We saw the Ring video in the morning, not knowing who this was,” the female owner claimed. “But this is an older gentleman with a very young woman who checked in the night before.”
The male owner remembered thinking Belichick was Hudson’s “relative or a drug dealer.”
Upon closer examination, however, the male owner thought, “That does look like Belichick.”
Despite booking the Airbnb for four nights, the owners said Hudson was barely there.
“As the week went on, we were thinking she was an escort or something,” the female owner said.
Us Weekly has reached out to Belichick and Hudson.
When it comes to how the Ring camera footage eventually got circulated months after Hudson and Belichick’s stay, the owners suspect one of their friends was responsible for leaking it after the video was sent to them.
Torre made it clear that he does not believe the couple nor Hudson herself were responsible for giving the video of Belichick to the media.
To confirm that Hudson and Belichick stayed in the rental property, Torre found a review that Hudson left on Airbnb in July 2023 after their booking.
She wrote, “Great spot. Great views. Great host. Great value. ”
After Marciano Brunette claimed he had an affair with Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jessi Ngatikaura — which she denied — Scheana Shay is now entering the conversation to share what she saw take place.
“I have no NDA signed. I can say whatever the f*** I want. But out of respect for all of the viewers who are left on that cliffhanger [on season 2 of Mormon Wives], I don’t want to reveal too much because I know a lot,” Scheana, 40, teased on the Friday, May 23, episode of her “Scheananigans” podcast.
Scheana claimed that Marciano, 31, told her — and Demi Engemann — about his alleged affair with Jessi.
“The three of us had a FaceTime call together after that night at TomTom. I did not see [Marciano and Jessi] making out but they were, however, all over each other. Very, very flirty,” Scheana alleged. “I literally was standing right next to him and I was like, ‘Damn, I don’t greet him with hugs like that.’”
According to Scheana, that group outing led to her sister questioning the interactions between Jessi, 32, and Marciano as well. She said, “My sister was like, ‘What’s going on with Marciano and Jessi?’ She goes, ‘His hand was on her thigh the entire show.'”
Scheana claimed the situation got even more confusing when they went to Jessi’s hotel room that night. They spoke with Jessi’s husband, Jordan Ngatikaura, and then were about to leave at 3 a.m. when Scheana and her husband, Brock Davies, noticed Marciano wasn’t with them.
“I thought they already had each other’s numbers but I don’t know. So then he ends up coming down in the elevator. And Brock goes, ‘Oh, you think they just got one in?’ I’m like, ‘No! What are you talking about? We were just on FaceTime with Jordan. Absolutely not,'” she recalled. “Maybe they were just finishing a conversation or something they didn’t want to say in front of us.”
Scheana noted that Jessi has been outspoken about how she “is not in an open marriage” and “not a swinger” after previously discussing swinging in a past relationship. On the car ride home, however, Marciano appeared to be in contact with Jessi.
“We get back to the house and he’s like, ‘I think I’m going to go back.’ And I’m like, ‘Excuse me? No, you are not.’ Brock was livid. He’s like, ‘I swear to God. That is someone else’s wife,'” she continued. “Marciano’s like, ‘Well, for all I know, she’s a swinger. They’re open.’ I’m like, ‘Before you walk out of this door, you message her and you say, ‘Is Jordan cool with this?'”
Marciano sent Jessi a message in front of Scheana, with the Vanderpump Rules alum claiming, “[Jessi] says something [in response to his question about an open marriage] along the lines of like, ‘Oh yeah, definitely. Haha.’ Something that was very affirmative and was a yes. He shows me the text and he’s like, ‘I’m out.'”
Scheana alleged that Marciano returned four hours later. As Vanderpump Rules viewers may remember, Scheana confirmed that she has most of her friends’ locations saved on her phone and claimed she saw Marciano and Jessi were located at her hotel room.
“I have Marciano insinuating and alluding to like, ‘Yeah, that happened last night,'” Scheana said before noting that Jessi denied anything took place between her and Marciano. “I’m like, ‘Jessi, I know both of your locations were in the same place.’ She goes, ‘No. He went and saw another girl and didn’t want to go back into your house that late in the middle of the night. He asked if he could come crash in my hotel room and he just slept on the little like couch chair.”
A source close to production tells Us Weekly that the drama “will all play out on camera.”
Scheana’s version of events comes after Marciano claimed on season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives that he had an affair with Jessi. During an interview with Bustle on Thursday, May 22, Jessi subtly addressed the drama.
“That was definitely a hard watch. We are continuing filming, so you guys will see this story unfold,” she shared. “I would say that viewers can look forward to me being very vulnerable and going behind the curtain of my real life and marriage.”
Jessi noted that, hopefully, being candid about her situation in the next season would “help a lot of women” going through something similar, adding, “Because of the show, I can’t say much about it. But relationships are really hard, and people make mistakes.”
After watching Marciano’s scene with Layla Taylor, Jessi clarified that there was more to the story.
“I will say that it’s not what he made it sound [like]. What he said was not accurate. I wish I could speak now,” she said before agreeing with the interviewer that Marciano’s claims were hard to believe. “Honestly, yeah, he’s a piece of s***.”
For some people, Memorial Day weekend is a time to catch up on things they’ve put off doing. If you’re an Amazon Prime Video subscriber, there’s probably a movie in your queue that you never got around to watching.
If that sounds like you, or if you’re just looking for a good film to watch, you’ve come to the right place. Watch With Us is here to recommend three underrated movies to watch over the next three days.
Our selections include an action-comedy starring several silver screen legends, an intense thriller with Denzel Washington and a charming 2024 coming-of-age comedy.
‘Space Cowboys’ (2000)
Veteran astronauts William “Hawk” Hawkins (Tommy Lee Jones) and Frank Corvin (Clint Eastwood) have hated each other for years, but when a rogue Soviet communications satellite carrying nuclear weapons starts plummeting to Earth, they are the only ones with the knowledge and experience to stop it. Along with a younger space crew, Hawk and Frank blast off into space to avert a catastrophe that could change the world forever.
Despite its disaster movie plot, Space Cowboys is a surprisingly chill movie that blends macho action with good-natured humor. The cast, which includes Donald Sutherland, James Garner and a young Jon Hamm, is terrific, and the special effects still hold up today. Space Cowboys has fun with its premise without being too melodramatic (we’re looking at you, Deep Impact), and it’s fun watching these retired space cowboys suit up for one last trip to the stars.
Space Cowboys is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
‘John Q’ (2002)
Desperate times lead to desperate measures, and no one is more desperate than John Quincy Archibald (Denzel Washington). His young son needs a heart transplant, but John’s insurance won’t cover the $250,000 cost. Broke and with no options left, John decides to hold an ER hostage so his son can get the heart he needs to live. While John’s illegal act attracts the media’s attention (and sympathy), the cops treat John as a dangerous criminal who is a threat to others in the hospital. Will John succeed in saving his son’s life before he loses his own?
John Q was released more than 20 years ago, but it feels more resonant today than ever. John’s transformation into a criminal is due to a broken healthcare system that he feels left him no choice but to threaten others. John is no Luigi Mangione, though, since he only uses the threat of violence to try to get what he needs. Maybe that makes John Q less interesting than it could have been, but it’s still a compelling thriller with an intense performance from a never-better Washington.
It’s the summer after junior high ends and before high school begins, and 13-year-old Chris “Didi” Wang (Izaac Wang) is finding his place in life. He spends his days filming goofy videos to upload to YouTube and trying to impress a girl who makes him ashamed of his Asian American heritage. He also pushes away his well-meaning mother, Chungsing (Joan Chen), who doesn’t know that all her love and attention embarrasses him. With school fast approaching, can Didi figure out his identity and learn to appreciate his friends and family?
Didi was one of 2024’s buried treasures, and that’s due to its sweet and simple coming-of-age story. It’s still uncommon for movies to focus on the Asian American experience, which is why Didi feels so fresh and different. As the titular character, Wang is what you’d expect a teenage boy to be like — funny, a little silly, exasperating and impossible. Chen is terrific as Didi’s mom, who has to deal with her own parenting issues while raising her son.
When British pro boxer Georgia O’Connor died at age 25, she was less than two weeks removed from marrying her longtime partner Adriano Cardinali.
Cardinali was by O’Connor’s side throughout her battle with an undisclosed type of cancer, which doctors formally diagnosed earlier this year. Though not much is known about Cardinali’s private life, O’Connor shared plenty through her own social media accounts.
“If you have a man who loves you more than anything, who would burn the whole world down before he’d let it take you, hold onto him, because that kind of love is rare,” she wrote via Instagram, four days after revealing her diagnosis.
O’Connor added that Cardinali quit his job “without a second thought” to help her in her fight.
“Whilst the doctors who neglected me are stuck in their ways, he’s out there driving across Europe, finding treatments they don’t even know exist,” she continued. “Researching day and night, chasing down every option, making sure I have every single chance to beat this.”
“I have never known love like this,” she said. “A love that doesn’t flinch, doesn’t break, doesn’t even hesitate. A love that says ‘we do this together, no matter what.’ No matter how dark the nights get, no matter how hard the days are, I have him, and he has me.”
In the months that followed her diagnosis, O’Connor continued to update her fans on her condition, revealing she suffered a miscarriage and that her cancer was incurable. But just one day after sharing the news of her miscarriage, she posted a touching tribute to Cardinali via Instagram for his birthday.
“You are not just my boyfriend but my truest and closest friend,” she wrote. “You are the funniest person I have ever met and make me laugh like crazy even when I don’t feel like smiling. We have been through so much together, things that no couple should go through but we always get through because nothing can ever break us .”
“We are heartbroken by the passing of Georgia O’Connor,” the organization said in a statement. “A true warrior inside and outside the ring, the boxing community has lost a talented, courageous and determined young woman far too soon.”
“Georgia was loved, respected and admired by her friends here at Boxxer,” the statement continued. “Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this difficult time.”
Brittany Mahomes is trying to find different ways to entertain herself during her kids’ naptime.
“Instead of sitting on my phone while all 3 kids nap, [I’ve] been challenging myself to do something beneficial!” Mahomes, 29, wrote over a photo of red lights via Instagram Stories on Thursday, May 22. “Read my Bible, lay in red light, even just getting outside and listening to silence is also very calming and rejuvenating for me!”
Brittany shares three children — Sterling, 4, Bronze, 2, and Golden, 4 months — with husband Patrick Mahomes, who is currently enjoying the NFL offseason. The couple have been bonding with their newborn after she came into the world during the playoff season, after which the Kansas City Chiefs advanced to Super Bowl LIX. Quarterback Patrick, 29, and his team ultimately lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 22-40.
“I was proud of how my team fought this entire season with the expectations that we had on us,” Mahomes said postgame, according to ESPN. “But we did, we came up short.”
“It’s going to hurt for a while, but how can you respond [to] it?” Mahomes continued. “And how can you get better? How can you not be satisfied with just getting here and taking your game to the next level?”
As Patrick stays in shape ahead of the 2025-26 season, it seems he’s keeping his kids up to speed, too. He set up an obstacle course for Sterling and Bronze on Thursday — with Brittany sharing a video of the little ones in action via Instagram Stories.
“We working out here,” she wrote, tagging Patrick, who could be seen in the clip. The course consisted of a tunnel, balance beam, soccer net and a batting tee.
Patrick reposted the video on his own page with three bomb emojis.
Brittany Mahomes posts to her Instagram Stories.Brittany Mahomes/Instagram
Brittany and Patrick recently enjoyed a parents night out at the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation’s Vegas Golf Classic Gala, which took place on May 15.
“Thank you to everyone who came out to support @15andmahomies ! Truly means the world to us to have so many amazing people that show up and support @15andmahomies,” Brittany shared alongside photos via Instagram on Monday, May 19.
Some of Patrick’s teammates, including Travis Kelce, attended the event. During the charity gala, Kelce, 35, initially wanted to bid on a guitar signed by his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, but put his paddle down after realizing he didn’t need the instrument.
“No, I put my paddle up because I wanted it and then I realized, ‘Oh, I already have it. Oh, that was the guitar I have,’” he told brother Jason Kelce on their “New Heights” podcast on Wednesday, May 21.
“We’re both so focused on the season that’s happening, whether it’s the Eagles [and] Chiefs or the NFL landscape for the podcast,” Jason, who retired in 2024, told Us at the 2025 Amazon Upfront in New York City on May 12. “Once we’re done with the football season, then we can kind of just refocus back on family and do some of the things that we get enjoyment [from] outside of the game.”
Watch With Us is in the mood for adventure this Memorial Day weekend. No, we’re not traveling to a faraway land or even setting up the barbecue outside. Instead, we’re logging on to Netflix and watching these three underrated movies that are worth your time and attention.
Beans are the magical fruit in Jack the Giant Slayer, but instead of making the titular hero toot, they get him into a whole lot of trouble with some pissed-off giants. They aren’t as scary as the killer in To Catch a Killer, a crime movie that dramatizes how a sniper terrorizes an entire city.
Our third and final selection is a dramedy that unites the main stars from Seinfeld and The Crown and asks, “What would you do if your partner doesn’t like something you poured your heart and soul into?” You can’t go wrong if you want any of these three movies this weekend. If you’re not satisfied, we’ll climb a beanstalk as punishment.
‘Jack the Giant Slayer’ (2013)
Everyone thinks they know the fairy tale with Jack, his three magic beans and one very angry giant, but Jack the Giant Slayer puts a new, CGI-assisted spin on the classic British children’s story. In this extravagant reimagining, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) is a dashing hero who has to save Princess Isabelle (Eleanor Tomlinson) after she’s mistakenly transported to Gantua, a realm filled with giants. They don’t like anyone intruding in their kingdom, so Jack will have to move heaven and earth to save Isabelle and make it back to his homeland with all of his limbs — and life — intact.
Jack the Giant Slayer is a grand adventure that showcases every dollar of its reported $200 million budget. Gantua and its oversized citizens are imagined in impressive, intimidating detail, and Jack’s fantastical medieval realm will make you want to grow some beans so you can go there yourself. Hoult is an engaging fantasy hero, and the supporting cast, consisting of British character actors like Bill Nighy, play villains you love to root against.
An unknown sniper is terrorizing Baltimore, and no one knows how to stop him. FBI agent Geoffrey Lammark (Ben Mendelsohn) is doing his best, though, and he recruits a crafty local officer, Eleanor Falco (Shailene Woodley), to help him solve the case. But with the gunman killing more people, first at a New Year’s Eve fireworks show and then at a crowded mall, their investigation quickly becomes a race against time to stop his reign of terror.
To Catch a Killer is special because it’s the kind of film Hollywood rarely makes anymore — a mid-level action drama that emphasizes plot and character over gratuitous violence and special effects. Plenty of people die in To Catch a Killer, but their deaths are never used for cheap thrills. The heart of the movie belongs to Mendelsohn and Woodley’s odd couple cops, who are different in every way except for their shared obsession with catching their killer.
Beth (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is a successful creative writing teacher in a loving marriage with therapist Don (Tobias Menzies). Things change for the worse when she asks Don to read a draft of her first novel, which he secretly doesn’t much care for. When Beth finds out about how Don feels, she reassesses their marriage and wonders what else he is lying about — or hiding.
You Hurt My Feelings sounds like a serious drama, but it’s really an intelligent comedy about the lies we tell ourselves and others in our everyday lives. Don isn’t a bad guy, but his honesty still hurts the wife he clearly loves. Beth doesn’t overreact, either — it hurts when someone whose opinion you value doesn’t like something you created.
The movie was written and directed by Nicole Holofcener, who specializes in making comedies of manners about the upper-middle class. She usually casts the right actors in her movies, and that’s true with You Hurt My Feelings, which gives television stars Louis-Dreyfus and Menzies two rare lead movie roles to shine in.
Billy Joel is taking a break from performing after a recent health issue has caused stress on his body.
Joel, 76, announced via an Instagram statement on Friday, May 23, that he is canceling “all scheduled concerts following a recent diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).”
The Grammy winner’s team explained, “This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance.”
NPH is a brain disorder in which “excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain’s ventricles, which are fluid-filled chambers,” according to the Alzheimer’s Association. “As brain ventricles enlarge with the excess CSF, they can disrupt and damage nearby brain tissue, leading to difficulty walking, problems with thinking and reasoning, and loss of bladder control.”
Per doctor’s orders, Joel is “undergoing specific physical therapy” and has been “advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period.”
The “Piano Man” singer is “thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health,” according to the press release. “He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage.”
Joel said, “I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding.”

Fans and celebrities alike wished Joel well for a speedy recovery following the news, including Elton John’s lead guitarist Davey Johnstone. “Love you Billy, best wishes for your complete recovery. Love from us Johnstones ,” he replied in the comments.
Kristin Chenoweth also commented, saying, “I really understand. I have menieres. Very similar!! Sending love.” (Meniere’s disease is a rare inner ear disorder that causes symptoms such as vertigo and hearing loss.)
Jack Quaid, meanwhile, commented on the post with three red heart emojis.
While fans may be disappointed by the news, Joel’s team confirmed refunds will be automatically processed and issued back to the original form of purchase.
The list of canceled shows includes 14 U.S. dates such as Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., Santa Clara, New Orleans and Salt Lake City and Canada’s Toronto gig. Additionally, two U.K. dates that were already pushed back to June 2026 have been canceled.
Joel’s recent health update comes three months after he took a tumble during his February 22 concert. While performing “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” in Connecticut, he lost his balance and fell on his back.
In March, Joel postponed multiple shows to recover from an unspecified “medical procedure,” causing some fans to worry about his health. “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,” he wrote via Instagram at the time, “I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans.”
Later that month, Sailor Brinkley-Cook, who affectionately calls the artist “Uncle Billy,” exclusively told Us Weekly that he was “doing great” and was gearing up to get back on tour. “He’s totally healthy and it’s just some things that he has to deal with,” she shared.
Brinkley-Cooks’ mother, Christie Brinkley, married Joel in 1985 and welcomed their daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, that same year. After divorcing in 1994, Brinkley, 71, moved on with Peter Cook and they later welcomed Sailor, 26, and son Jack Paris Brinkley-Cook.
Following Tuck Everlasting‘s debut, stars such as Alexis Bledel and Ben Kingsley continued to find success in the entertainment industry.
The fantasy drama, which premiered in 2002, was based on the book of the same name by Natalie Babbitt. The film explored the topic of immortality by introducing Winnie Foster’s (Bledel) adventures with the Tuck family.
“I think the love story in the film – it’s a pretty universal desire, that people want to fall in love, and I think it’s a pretty classic love story in this film, that will appeal to kids as well as adults,” Bledel told IGN in 2002. “Besides that, I think that most teenagers can relate to Winnie, because she’s sort of a timeless character in the sense that she just wants to escape the control of her parents, and I don’t know any teenager that doesn’t want that.”

The actress, who played Winnie, rose to fame after appearing in Gilmore Girls from 2000 to 2007. She continued to book roles including the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Mad Men, Us & Them and The Handmaid’s Tale. The Texas native reprised her role as Rory in Netflix's 2016 revival of Gilmore Girls.
In 2014, Bledel married Vincent Kartheiser, whom she met on the set of Mad Men. They welcomed their first child, a son, in 2015. Kartheiser filed for divorce in August 2022 and the split was finalized later that month.
In May 2025, Bledel signed on to narrate the audiobook for the 50th anniversary edition of Natalie Babbitt's novel Tuck Everlasting.
“It has been an amazing experience to revisit this world,” Bledel said in a statement. “Tuck Everlasting holds a special place in my heart, having played Winnie Foster in the film many years ago. Narrating this beloved story for its 50th anniversary edition is a wonderful journey back into a tale that challenges us to think about what it truly means to live a meaningful life.”
After portraying Winnie's love interest Jesse, Jackson went on to appear in General Hospital, The Deep End of the Ocean, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, Riding the Bullet and Nashville.
The actor also transitioned into music and formed various bands with family members including Enation. In 2012, Jackson released a book of poetry under the pen name J. S. Jackson. Two years later he published The Mystery of Art: Becoming an Artist in the Image of God.
The Florida native has been married to Lisa Vultaggio since 2002. The couple share son Caleb (born in 2003), daughter Adora (born in 2005) and son Titus (born in 2010).
The England native, who brought The Man in the Yellow Suit to life, has a career spanning over five decades. Kingsley starred in Schindler's List, House of Sand and Fog, Thunderbirds, Shutter Island, Hugo and Ender's Game. He also played Trevor in Iron Man 3 — and later reprised the role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
In 2002, the Academy Award winner was appointed Knight Bachelor for his contributions to the British film industry.
Kingsley was previously married to Angela Morant from 1966 to 1976. He later exchanged vows with Alison Sutcliffe in 1978 and they called it quits in 1992. The Prince of Persia star moved on with Alexandra Christmann, whom he was married to from 2003 to 2005. Kingsley and his wife, Daniela Lavender, tied the knot in 2007.
The Golden Globe nominee continued to act in movies including History of Violence, The Village, Mr. Brooks, Into the Wild and Robin Hood. Hurt appeared on the small screen in FX's Damages and HBO's Too Big to Fail. He later scored the role of Thaddeus Ross in the Marvel universe, which he reprised until his final appearance in 2021's Black Widow.
Hurt, who played Angus, was married to Mary Beth Supringer and Heidi Henderson. (He shared one child with ex Sandra Jennings, two kids with Henderson and one child with Sandrine Bonnaire.
In 2009, Marlee Matlin accused the Body Heat star of physical and sexual abuse during their relationship. Hurt, for his part, issued a statement where he recalled that the couple "both apologized" for the issues in their past romance. Author Donna Kaz accused Hurt of domestic violence in 2016 — which he never publicly acknowledged.
The Oscar winner died in March 2022 at age 71.
After playing Mae, the Carrie star booked roles in Nine Lives, North Country, Four Christmases, Get Low, The Help and The Old Man & the Gun. The Texas native has appeared in TV projects including Big Love, Bloodline, Castle Rock and Homecoming.
The singer, who has been married to Jack Fisk since 1974, shares two kids with her husband.
The Canada native continued to act for several more years after bringing Miles to life in Tuck Everlasting. Bairstow scored jobs on Lonesome Dove: The Series, Party of Five and Wild America.
In 2003, the X-Files alum was charged with second-degree child rape in Everett, Washington. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree assault. After entering an Alford plea, Bairstow was sentenced to four months in jail, one year of community supervision and was required to undergo a sexual deviancy evaluation. The former actor was also ordered to have no contact with the victim and to pay for her counseling.
Bairstow shares two kids with Marty Rich, whom he was married to from 1994 to 2000.
Season 7 couple Anny Francisco and Robert Springs announced in April 2022 that their 7-month-old son, Adriel, had died. (Robert, who has five older children from previous relationships, and Anny welcomed daughter Brenda two years before.)
“It is really tough. You just have to lean on each other, put your faith in God’s hands, and there’s going to be a lot of lashing out. You may not understand,” Robert exclusively told Us Weeklyin September 2024. “Going through those obstacles that we went through of losing a child — and like I said, my wife can lash out — but it’s like, ‘Hey, are you going to throw gas to the flame or are you going to just put a blanket over it?’”
He added, “And I’ll just put a blanket over it, try to ease the conversation, just not talk about it, just so that it can die down. You just got to look for brighter days. It’s not going to rain all the time.”

Us confirmed in December 2024 that the Before the 90 Days alum died from cardiac arrhythmia and hypertensive cardiovascular disease. Murphey was 66.
“I spoke to him about six weeks ago for a couple of hours and he was hopeful that he still had more time. May he rest in peace,” fellow show alum David Toborowsky wrote via Instagram at the time.
Anny revealed via Instagram that son Adriel’s “heart couldn't take it” after a hospital stay before his death.
“Our hearts are broken for you,” Loren Brovarnik told Anny via Instagram comment. “We cannot imagine what you are going through, but as always, we are here for you!”
The season 2 alum died at the age of 45 after suffering complications from COVID-19.
“He was surrounded by family as he died,” Hatch’s sister, Shannon, told Us in December 2021. “He will be missed by his family and many friends and fans whom he adored.”
Angela’s mother, Glenda, died several days after her wedding to now-ex Michael Ilesanmi in January 2020. The TLC star’s mom had been found unresponsive shortly before Angela and Michael’s wedding day.
“It’s driving me crazy, I wish I could leave tonight, but I can’t,” Angela said in a confessional on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?. “And it’s upsetting to me that I can’t go. So, I’m trying to get a plane to get to the States because we don’t know the condition of my mother, and all I know is she can not be there when I get back.”
Is it time to turn this bromance into double dates? As Dylan Efron and Boston Rob’s friendship continues to bring joy to Traitors fans, Efron revealed he hasn’t met fellow Survivor icon Amber Mariano — but is ready to make it happen.
“At this point, Amber and my girlfriend, Courtney, need to get their own trip,” Efron, 33, said with a laugh while speaking to Us Weekly at Wasa’s Camp Crunch on Governors Island in New York City. “We need to get them together ’cause they’re getting pretty jealous of each other.”
As a Survivor fan, Efron was well aware of both Rob and Amber’s love story and gameplay. He bonded with Rob in the castle on season 3 of The Traitors, and the twosome have been meeting up all over the country for events.
“It is pretty hilarious. My girlfriend was saying it the other day. She’s just like, ‘You have the weirdest life.’ If you would’ve told me when I was watching Survivor, ‘I’m gonna meet that guy and be friends,’ she would’ve laughed,” Efron said. “It’s pretty cool.”
Efron and Rob’s latest outing? The premiere of the new Mission: Impossible movie earlier this month.
“I think the best part of Boston Rob is he doesn’t act his age. He can go with the flow. We were just at this Tom Cruise premiere and everyone’s, like, under 30, but he’s there with us hanging out. Everyone loves him. He can kind of be a chameleon and blend into whatever setting he is in,” Efron said. “If you’ve watched Survivor, he really is exactly what you think. And I think a lot of people, when you watch ’em on TV and you meet ’em in real life, they’re different. So when you meet someone that’s exactly what you think they are, it’s refreshing.”
While at that premiere, Dylan also had a chance to talk to Cruise, who he had met with brother Zac Efron a decade prior.
“I was like, ‘I met you with my brother, like, 12 years ago at a pretty small dinner.’ And he was like, ‘Oh, my God. I remember. It was at the Chateau Marmont!'” Dylan recalled. “He remembered my brother and that’s how he probably put it together, but it was pretty cool. He’s the best for a reason. I worked at Warner Bros. and I was so impressed because he would show up through post-production — no actors do that. No actor is coming in once the movie wraps to make sure the movie’s good, and he did that every day. He really cares about it.”
While Dylan had been working behind the scenes on films and with Zac on Netflix’s Down to Earth With Zac Efron, he’s become a star in front of the camera thanks to winning season 3 of TheTraitors. For his next venture, Dylan is very open to the reality TV possibilities.

“I’m down. I just want something that’s a good experience. That’s why I’ve traveled as much as I have. I’ve always prioritized making experiences that I can look back on the rest of my life and a lot of these shows — like Special Forces, for example. I’m not in the military. I’m never gonna know what it’s like. But if you do that for two weeks, it’s gonna change your life. I am interested in other shows, just whatever it is, I want to learn a new skill and have a blast,” he said.
When the idea of Dancing With the Stars came up, Dylan hinted it could be a possibility, saying, “I don’t dance, so it would be one where I’m learning a new skill!”
In case you missed it, Dylan also made headlines last month for saving two women from drowning on the beach in Miami with Traitors costar Sam Asghari.
“It was pretty weird because when it ended, it was one of those things that no one was recording, no one knew it happened. So I didn’t think anything was gonna come of it and I didn’t expect anything of it. It was just like, I’m a decent swimmer and I saw people out there, so I helped. … Everyone’s like, ‘What can’t he do?’ And I’m like, ‘Guys, it wasn’t that glamorous. people needed help. I swam,'” he told Us, adding that the beachgoers had “no idea” who Dylan or Asghari were.”One woman was very shell-shocked, and I just stayed with her until she caught her breath.”
Dylan is now used to having more eyes on him, which has also helped him find perfect opportunities for brand partnerships — like with Wasa.
“In the past, I couldn’t be as selective, and now I get to be selective with who I’m working with. You can tell when it’s organic — this is everything I love so it makes it much easier to speak on it,” he said, referring to the camp-style retreat, which included a Chopped-style challenge with Wasa Crispbreads (a snack that he eats often in his daily life).
“We had 10 people on our team with a list of ingredients,” he explained. “Our first one was Wasa Crisp Creation Cinnamon, and we put cream cheese, strawberries, blueberries and coconut shreds on it. Second one was savory, so we did Wasa Crisp Creations Sesame & Sea Salt with cottage cheese, cucumber, bagel seasoning and dill, like, our take on a New York bagel.”
Dylan also recorded an ASMR playlist for the brand. “I’m into it now. I wasn’t sure — it was my first time doing ASMR, but it turned out so good with the cracks and the crackles of the cracker,” he said. “Once it was all put together, it was pretty incredible.”
Fans can listen to Dylan’s ad here and buy their own Wasa Crispbreads for their snacking needs now.
