Sex and the City spinoff series And Just Like That is returning for a third season — and the upcoming episodes are already the talk of the town.

The original series, which ran on HBO from 1998 to 2004, focused on Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her dating life in New York alongside her friends Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Samantha (Kim Cattrall). Sex and the City expanded into two movies before Max revived the show in December 2021.

And Just Like That has since gotten viewers talking for a multitude of reasons. From killing Mr. Big (Chris Noth) off in the series premiere to Samantha’s absence and Miranda and Steve’s split, Sex and the City fans haven’t been thrilled about all the changes taking place on screen.

Showrunner Michael Patrick King, meanwhile, has stood by the Max show’s decision to take big swings.

“We did something that was hard to do, which is we took something familiar and did make it new,” King told Variety in February 2022. “For better and for worse.”

King weighed in on some of the reactions he saw on social media, adding, “I monitor in macro, not micro. I monitor in the drum beats: ‘This is the best thing I’ve ever seen! This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen. They should all be killed! I can’t live without them. The clothes are terrible, the clothes are great.’ I’m not into the minutia of anything.”

When Will the Show Return?

Despite being renewed for a third season in August 2023, viewers will have a bit of a wait for more episodes. The decision came after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA both went on strike amid individual labor disputes with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

The dual strikes were resolved by the end of the year, but And Just Like That’s premiere date has been delayed to 2025.

Where Did the Main Story Lines Leave Off?

During the second season finale, which aired in August 2023, Carrie and Aidan (John Corbett) parted ways after rekindling their romance for a third time. It remained up in the air whether Carrie and Aidan would reunite after his sons were all grown up. Regardless of the split, Carrie moved out of her iconic apartment into a new space with a cat.

Miranda, meanwhile, made amends with Steve (David Eigenberg) and they agreed to be friends following their divorce. She later crossed paths with recent ex Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez) and the former couple got to a better place as well.

As for Anthony (Mario Cantone), he struggled to make a commitment with boyfriend Giuseppe (Sebastiano Pigazzi). After Anthony found out that his ex-husband, Stanford (Willie Garson), became a Shinto monk, he was able to move forward with his own life and with Giuseppe.

Nya (Karen Pittman), for her part, found out she was elected to the American Law Institute, but it was her personal life that needed more attention. At the end of the episode, Nya crossed paths with the Michelin chef (Toussaint Feldman) again, which hinted at a possible romance.

Meanwhile, Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) revealed that she miscarried her child and attempted to deal with the loss.

Seema’s (Sarita Choudhury) journey wrapped up with her deciding not to travel with her director boyfriend, Ravi (Armin Amiri), to Egypt. Instead, she agreed to wait for him while he spent five months shooting a movie.

Will There Be Character Departures in Season 3?

In January 2024, Daily Mail reported that Ramirez was dropped from And Just Like That because her character was unlikable. Ramirez didn’t address the news at the time, but they did take to social media to call out the film and television industry for punishing actors who have spoken out in support of Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

In the post, Ramirez used the past tense while discussing their role as Che on AJLT. Max has yet to confirm Ramirez’s exit or return.

In March 2024, Max confirmed that Karen Pittman would not return as Nya Wallace due to her commitments to Apple TV+’s The Morning Show and Netflix’s Forever.

“It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of And Just Like That…,” Max said in a statement. “As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn’t possible. Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of season 3 of And Just Like That… Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavors.”

Can Fans Expect Aidan to Return in Season 3?

After his highly anticipated return, viewers were shocked to find out that Aidan wouldn’t be a consistent presence on the hit Max series. In the season 2 finale, Aidan returned home to Virginia, where he lived with his three teenage sons, after his youngest child got into a car accident. Aidan asked Carrie to wait for him to make his permanent move back to New York — in five years.

“Aidan believes now that bad things happen when he’s not there,” King said during an August 2024 episode of AJLT’s companion podcast. “He admits to [Carrie] that he’s really the home for these three boys — and that’s who he’s always been.”

Aidan and Carrie spent the night together before his departure but it is unclear what their future will look like in future seasons.

Will Samantha Be Back?

After appearing in six seasons of Sex and the City and two movies, Cattrall opted out of the Max series due to a falling out between her and Parker. Cattrall said she had no plans to reprise her role as Samantha but she ultimately filmed a cameo for season 2.

According to multiple outlets, Cattrall didn’t interact with Parker or King on set and taped the scene by herself. This presumably means Cattrall’s onscreen appearance was likely a one-time situation.

What Is the Vision for Season 3?

King previously hinted that Carrie and Seema’s trip to Greece offers a glimpse at the next chapter of the show.

“I knew it was going to end before anything that Carrie and Seema would be sitting on a beach in Greece looking out at the horizon, that it would not end with Carrie and Aidan,” he said on AJLT’s companion podcast in August 2023. “Our only little tip to you, the audience [and] the people who are watching and wondering what we’re thinking.”

King continued: “There’s a little, tiny thread of what we’re thinking at the end, which is Seema says, ‘Well we ran at love, and where did that get us?’ And she goes, ‘I’m waiting five months and you’re waiting five years.’ And Carrie goes, ‘Well, I may get some time off for good behavior.’ You would only say that if you’re already going, ‘It’s not gonna be five years.’ She’s very cute, but she does go on to say, ‘There will be others.’”

In December 2023, Nicole Ari said she would like to see Lisa’s relationship with her husband get more screen time, telling PureWow, “I think we’ll see more of LTW, hopefully with Chris Jackson, who plays Herbert.”

Close proceeded to present the prestigious award to the cast and crew of the historical drama The Brutalist. The film took home a total of three wins on Sunday, including Best Director – Motion Picture for Brady Corbet and Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for Adrien Brody. Emilia Pérez scored the most wins of any nominated film on Sunday with a total of four.

Close, for her part, was not nominated at this year’s Golden Globes. Her most recent nod came in 2021 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture in Hillbilly Elegy. She has earned three Golden Globe trophies over the years for her performances in projects such as The Lion in Winter, Damages and The Wife.

Close also hilariously crashed one of Glen Powell’s red carpet interviews as Entertainment Tonight’s Nischelle Turner and Kevin Frazier were interviewing the pair at the same time. “I’m so honored. In Us Weekly‘s exclusive clip from the Tuesday, January 7, episode of Tommy DiDario‘s “I’ve Never Said This Before” podcast, Ray, 56, recalled a miscommunication before she started dating Cusimano, 57, in 2001.

Nikki Glaser is the name on everybody’s lips since the 2025 Golden Globes.

The comedian could be making a repeat performance as awards show host for future, because critics and stars alike had high praise for Glaser’s opening monologue — despite how savage it was.

“I am not here to roast you tonight, and how could I? You are all so famous, so talented, so powerful,” Glaser told the crowd when taking the stage on Sunday, January 5. “I mean you could really do anything.”

She then took shots at some stars in the crowd, including Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez, but also made sure to name-drop some stars who weren’t even in attendance.

“Tonight, we celebrate the best of film and hold space for television,” Glaser continued. “Yes, Wicked, Queer, Nightbitch: These are not just words Ben Affleck yells after he orgasms. These are some of the incredible movies nominated tonight.”

The Critics Have Praised Glaser

Various outlets had nothing but positive responses to Glaser and her performance.

Rolling Stone effused that Glaser “redeems the Golden Globes” in their headlines recapping the show. The publication called out her “spicy” and “silly roasts” specifically.

Glaser made sure the show started “smoothly,” The Atlantic wrote, noting that she did a good job by “immediately — and frequently — [making] herself the butt of the joke.”

“Glaser’s good-natured delivery turned out to be the ideal vehicle for some unexpected bite as well — but only if you listened carefully,” their review read. “In between her many, many self-effacing barbs, Glaser slid in some stingers about the guests seated before her.”

The Golden Globes of years past was the awards show where celebrities had fun, let their hair down (got a little drunk) and if you’re Emma Thompson a la 2014, accepts an accolade with shoes in hand. According to Variety, Glaser brought the show right back to its roots.

“The Golden Globes reclaims its chaotic glory with a vibrant Nikki Glaser and some fun facts,” their headline read.

The Los Angeles Times’ review addressed Glaser’s jokes specifically, calling them “good” with a “tight” delivery. “Glaser’s stand up can be pretty dark … but she found a way to be lightly cutting and relatively inoffensive, just far enough above a community of which she is not exactly a part, taking gentle shots at individuals,” they wrote.

Using the now-ubiquitous viral phrase “understood the assignment,” Time Magazine noted that’s exactly what Glaser did. She “hit her marks,” the publication added.

Critics for The Hollywood Reporter even argued that Glaser saved the show, “reminding audiences once again of the importance of above-average hosting.”

Others Were Unimpressed

IndieWire, on the other hand, wasn’t fully taken by Glaser’s performance, saying she “did a fine job” as host. They noted that the comedian “delivered what CBS producers surely wanted — a solid performance referencing as many famous faces as possible.”

As for the stars in attendance, their facial expressions did all the talking.

Chalamet, for one, took it in stride while his mustache was compared to eyelashes. (Girlfriend Kylie Jenner laughed next to him.)

Glen Powell was quick to cackle — even though Glaser put his name and her sex life in the same sentence.

“Glen, you were in everything. Twisters, Hit Man, my head when I’m having sex with my boyfriend,” Glaser quipped, which got a big laugh from the actor. “Thank you so much for the assist. I’ll see you tonight.”

Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were quick to participate in Glaser’s jokes, proving they were good sports as well. Gomez, while looking rather uncomfortable, did chuckle when her relationship with fiancé Benny Blanco was brought up.

Both Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were in stitches when Glaser commented on the amount of movies the actress made last year that kept her away from her musician husband.

“As Zendaya exited the ballroom, a recently engaged [Los Angeles] Times reporter held up her left ring finger and pointed at it,” Amy Kaufman wrote in post-Golden Globes coverage on Sunday, January 5. “The actor responded by flashing her own bling on her left hand, doing a sort of jazz-fingers motions.”

Kaufman continued: “‘Are you engaged?’ the Times asked. She kept showing her ring, smiled coyly and shrugged her shoulders mysteriously.”

The Challengers star, 28, who was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, walked the red carpet sans partner Tom Holland on Sunday while wearing a custom Louis Vuitton gown and Bulgari jewelry. On her left hand, Zendaya notably rocked a diamond ring, which fans on social media pointed out wasn’t part of a Bulgari collection, hinting it as a personal piece of jewelry. A source has since confirmed their engagement to Us Weekly.

Does everybody know what time it is? That was the famous phrase that came out of Home Improvement, the ABC sitcom that aired from September 1991 to May 1999. The 30-minute comedy followed Tim “The Toolman” Taylor (Tim Allen) as he hosted a home-improvement show titled “Tool Time,” even though he’s not at all a handyman.

When not at work with sidekick and best friend Al Borland (Richard Karn), Tim spent time at home with wife Jill (Patricia Richardson) and their three sons: Brad (Zachery Ty Bryan); Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas); and Mark (Taran Noah Smith).

The series, which launched Allen’s television career, ran for eight seasons and was nominated for seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Thomas, whose career took off while the show was airing, exited the show during the eighth season to go to school.

While both Allen and Richardson were reportedly offered between $25 and $50 million to do a ninth season, both turned it down.

In 2020, Allen revealed he “always thinks about” doing a reunion of some sort. “I like the idea of doing it as a one-off, like a one-hour movie. I like the idea of finding out where the boys are now,” the comic told TVLine. “Tool Time would be in today’s world. I just think it’s a marvelous idea, and all the actors think it’s a great idea.”

Comedian Matt Rife shared some words of support for Nikki Glaser before she took the 2025 Golden Globes stage.

“She’s finally getting the recognition that she deserves. I think she’s gonna crush. I texted her last night just saying, ‘good luck,’” Rife, 29, told Us Weekly exclusively on the Golden Globes red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 5. “I hope I get to run into her before the awards show starts. If not, I’ll see her after.”

As for her nerves, Rife said that Glaser seemed “fine,” noting that she’s performed at “way wilder shows” than the Golden Globes.

“These shows usually don’t go well,” he added. “So, it’s like, what’s the pressure? Just go up there and have fun.”

When asked whether he offered Glaser, 40, any advice ahead of her hosting gig, Rife said he “would never” do such a thing.

Rife hinted that “nothing’s off limits” for Glaser when it came to her monologue, which he said is “what makes her such a great comedian.”

“She’s not scared of anybody or anything,” he added. “Every comedian’s been at rock bottom of having no career anyway. What’s she gonna do? Not work again? She’s selling out theaters around the world. She’s gonna be just fine.”

Rife’s prediction was correct. When Glaser took the stage for her 10-minute monologue to kick off Sunday’s Golden Globes, she took shots at Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s relationship, Timothée Chalamet, Ben Affleck and Sean “Diddy” Combs.

On Sunday, January 5, actor Montana Jordan, best known for his role as Georgie in Young Sheldon and spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, took to Instagram to make a special announcement.

One year ago, Jordan and his longtime partner, Jenna Weeks, rang in the new year announcing that they were expecting their first child together, a daughter.

Five months later, Jordan announced that their daughter, Emma Rae Jordan, was born on May 21.

“God has blessed me with a beautiful babygirl. Emma Rae Jordan, Momma and Daddy love you. Forever and always,” he wrote alongside a photo of himself cradling his baby girl.

An eight-episode limited series that will explore the 1996 murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey is coming to Paramount+. Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen will star as Patsy and John Bennett Ramsey, parents of the child beauty queen whose murder remains unsolved, the streaming giant announced in September 2024.

While Paramount did not announce when filming will begin, it revealed production will take place in Calgary, Canada.

Patsy and John were long suspected of being responsible for JonBenét’s murder and a grand jury voted to indict the pair in 1999. The Boulder district attorney, however, never signed the indictment, citing a lack of evidence. They were exonerated in 2008 when advances in DNA testing allowed investigators to determine DNA found on JonBenét’s body was from an unrelated male, possibly of Hispanic origin.

Patsy, who at the time of JonBenét’s murder was in remission from stage 4 ovarian cancer, suffered a recurrence in 2002 and died in 2006. She was 49.

John married Jan Rousseaux in 2011 while both were living in Utah. They later relocated to Michigan where he unsuccessfully ran for a seat in the state’s House of Representatives.

Meghan Markle is a dab hand in the kitchen, according to pal Mindy Kaling.

The Mindy Project star, 45, spilled the beans on Meghan’s cooking skills as the Duchess of Sussex prepares to launch her new Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, later this month.

The trailer for the new show dropped last week and shows Meghan, 43, rustling up a tasty dish for Kaling in her and Prince Harry’s Montecito, California, kitchen.

“I was just in my maternity leave and Meghan texted me and said, ‘Hey, do you wanna come be in my show … come to Montecito and have me cook for you?’” Kaling explained of her guest appearance during a red carpet interview with Deadline at the Sunday, January 5, Golden Globes. “And I was like, ‘Yeah, that sounds perfect. I would love to do that.’”

Later in the evening, the young couple were also spotted posing for photos in the Beverly Hilton with stars including Dwayne Johnson and his daughter Simone and mingling with fellow guests.

Jenner and Chalamet were first linked in April 2023 and also spotted at last year’s Golden Globes. Though they didn’t walk the red carpet together, Jenner joined Chalamet inside the venue.

The pair “couldn’t keep their hands off each other” during the ceremony, a source exclusively told Us Weekly at the time.

“They only had eyes for each other, and it was clear they were totally into one another,” the insider added.

“They shared a few kisses, and it was obvious they had amazing chemistry,” the source said, noting that the duo had their legs interlocked while chatting at their table. “They didn’t stop flirting the entire night.”

Later that month, a second source told Us that Chalamet and Jenner were “madly in love.”

“Everything is going great between them. They both have really busy schedules but make as much time for each other as possible,” the second source shared in January 2024. “Timothée is always making Kylie smile. They have a very special connection.”

Just days before Sunday’s Golden Globes, Chalamet subtly dodged a question about his relationship with Jenner at the 36th Annual Palm Springs International Film Society Film Awards. Jenner was spotted inside the Friday, January 3, ceremony with her man.

“You have a lot of supporters in here. I know you brought your partner-in-crime, Kylie, here too. What’s it like to have her supporting you on a night like this?” an Entertainment Tonight reporter asked Chalamet after the awards.

Chalamet, however, played it cool and declined to publicly address his romance specifically.

“It’s a great feeling to be in a room with so much love and so many great peers and people that are fantastic,” Chalamet said. “I like seeing the new way and the new generation here and I also like seeing everyone that’s been holding it down for decades-plus and probably people we haven’t even met yet.”

In television, it was Shōgun that earned the most awards — also four — including Best Drama and two acting awards for stars Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai.

As the awards were dished out, there was a party atmosphere in the audience as stars greeted each other and Kylie Jenner schmoozed with Hollywood’s finest as Timothée Chalamet‘s date for the evening.

After sparking engagement rumors on the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globes, Zendaya set tongues wagging all over again.

Eagle-eyed fans who looked beyond her sparkling ring on Sunday, January 5, took to social media to speculate over what appeared to be a small tattoo on the left side of her torso. Some claimed that the tattoo was of the letter T, serving as an ode to Zendaya’s boyfriend, Tom Holland.

One X user posted on Sunday, “Finding out that Zendaya has a tiny ‘t’ tattoo and an engagement ring was not on my golden globes bingo card … I’m so happy for my girl.” Other fans agreed that Zendaya, 28, did indeed seem to be branded with a lowercase T.

However, the mark also resembled an anchor, as noted by another X user who posted an anchor emoji and questioned the marking’s true meaning. “Isn’t it this tho,” the user wrote.

Us Weekly has reached out to Zendaya’s representative for comment regarding the engagement rumors.

The Challengers star, who met Holland while working on 2016’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, attended the awards ceremony on her own. She was nominated in the category of Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role as Tashi Duncan in Challengers but lost out to Demi Moore, who starred in The Substance.

Zendaya started the night wearing a custom Louis Vuitton gown and Bulgari jewelry but changed into a white halter-neck dress once inside the ceremony. In a photo taken alongside The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri inside the event, the tattoo was no longer visible.

Zendaya and Holland kept their relationship a secret for several years, going public five years after they met when photos of the pair being affectionate in a car surfaced. After their relationship was confirmed, a source exclusively told Us at the time that the pair’s friendship played a pivotal role in taking their connection to the next level.

According to Craig, Weisz had a very good reason for opting out of the Sunday, January 5, event, sharing details into her no-show with Extra on the red carpet.

When asked by Extra’s Adam Glassman whether Weisz, 54, was, “with you tonight,” Craig, 56, replied, “She’s not, no, she’s getting our little one back in school.” Craig and Weisz, who got married in 2011, share a daughter, Grace, 6.

Craig’s candid comments coincided with the release of his interview on The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast, recorded mid-November 2024, which delved into Craig’s thoughts on his sophomore James Bond film Quantum of Solace.

Despite taking pride in the film’s “amazing stunt sequences,” Craig said he felt the movie “didn’t quite work” as a whole. “The storytelling wasn’t there,” he said at the time. “And that’s the abject lesson: going to start a movie without a script, it’s just not a good idea.”
