Summer House's Lexi Wood Reveals Whether She's Spoken to Jesse Solomon

Summer House costars Lexi Wood and Jesse Solomon wasted no time getting hot and heavy while filming season 9, but where do they stand now?

In a new interview with Glamour published Friday, April 18, Lexi, 27, revealed she hasn’t spoken to Jesse, 31, since the current season of Bravo’s hit reality series premiered in February — confirming speculation that the twosome certainly aren’t dating post-show. Several of their other costars, however, have reached out.

“West [Wilson] has checked in on me. Carl [Radke] checked in on me. Lindsay [Hubbard]’s checked in on me. Gabby [Prescod]’s checked in on me, and Imrul [Hassan]’s checked in on me,” Lexi told the outlet.

While she’s seemingly kept her distance from Jesse so far, Lexi said she’s “really looking forward” to filming the season 9 reunion “to hash some things out” with her ex.

“I think somebody that can blatantly lie when they’re being filmed is a very scary person and I’m not necessarily interested in anything with him,” she continued.

The question of whether she’ll return for another season was “hard” to answer. “I think the exes at the end of the day that are in the house also respect each other,” she said of former couples like Lindsay and Carl, whose broken engagement was captured last summer. “And as much as it didn’t work out, they don’t want to necessarily be best friends, they can also respect that they live on the same roof.”

Adjusting to the Bravo spotlight hasn’t been easy, but Lexi noted that she’s “grateful” that Summer House fans are “taking me under their wing so much.” Despite being embraced by the audience, she admitted to feeling a “disconnect” with some of the other girls in the house.

“I definitely felt alone all summer, and I was very isolated,” she told Glamour. “But I think now watching back, I totally understand that they were being fed so many different stories, that of course they were also going to be hesitant toward me. I really hope that now that seeing and watching that they can see where I was coming from and that I actually had no idea. And hopefully those relationships … can move on to me having deeper, more solid friendships.”

Lexi joked that “a lot happened” between her and Jesse in a short amount of time, calling their whirlwind romance “the worst relationship I’ve ever been in.” She also noted that it’s been “disappointing” to finally be seeing some of what Jesse said about their connection on camera without her around — especially about the now-infamous “ToeGate” scandal. (During a weekend when Lexi was out of town, Jesse got his toe sucked by a woman Imrul brought home for a threesome after a night out.)

“Watching back, I wish there was more honesty because I would have made different decisions and choices. … I think in front of my face, Jesse was very different. Behind my back, he had a lot of things that he did not communicate to me,” Lexi claimed.

Summer House's Ciara Still Doesn't Get Why Lexi Was Mad at Her Over Jesse

Jesse, meanwhile, told Glamour that he wishes Lexi “nothing but the best” and expressed his gratitude for their time together. “As far as being called dishonest, I really do try to be transparent. I think there were just some miscommunications and heightened emotions, which is understandable given the environment,” he continued.

In a recent appearance on the “Chicks in the Office” podcast, Jesse reacted to fans calling him out for love-bombing Lexi throughout the season.

“I came on strong, but I think Lexi matched my energy,” he said on Friday. “And when you’re going for a girl who’s dated Drake, you’re not gonna, like, get her by playing it cool. My style is aggressive and I’m not gonna be anybody but myself.”

Jesse admitted that he could see where the critiques are coming from after watching the season back. “I’m learning about love-bombing now,” he joked. “I’m trying to be better the next time around.”

Summer House airs on Bravo Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.

'9-1-1' Cast's Dating Histories Through the Years: Angela Bassett, More

The first responders of 9-1-1 spend their days rescuing Los Angeles trapped in life-threatening situations, but they still find some time for a little bit of romance.

One of the show’s longest-running relationships is between police officer Athena (Angela Bassett) and firefighter Bobby (Peter Krause), who started dating at the end of season 1 and tied the knot in season 2. They’re essentially the mom and dad of the 9-1-1 crew, but even they’ve had their ups and downs.

“Both of them were somewhat lost, in terms of their romantic lives,” Krause told Entertainment Tonight of his onscreen partner in May 2021. “Bobby in particular, because of his past, was deeply wounded. What we’ve gotten to see over the seasons is that he’s really healed because [of his] loving relationship with Athena. There’s a lot more joy that Bobby takes in life.”

Athena and Bobby’s romance came to an emotional end in season 8, as the latter sacrificed himself to save Chimney (Kenneth Choi) from a deadly virus during the 9-1-1: Contagion two-part event in April 2025.

The Fox series is also famous for a relationship that’s so far remained platonic, much to the annoyance of some viewers: the bromance between Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman). Their bond is so strong that in the season 4 finale, Eddie decided to change his will to give custody of his son Christopher (Gavin McHugh) to Buck in the event of his death.

“I know that there’s a contingent of fans that would like a certain outcome and the [relationship] has a life of its own in fandom in that respect,” showrunner Tim Minear told the Observer in May 2021. “But I do think that, look, at the very least, these are two guys who have a deep spiritual bond with each other.”

'The Conners' Cast Say Goodbye for the Last Time Before Series Finale

More than three decades after we first met the sitcom family, The Conners is coming to an end — and the cast is getting ready for their final goodbye.

In Us Weekly‘s exclusive look at a behind-the-scenes retrospective, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Emma Kenney and Jay R. Ferguson sat down at the legendary dinner table to reflect on the show.

“We always knew this would come to an end, but somehow it felt like it would be forever,” Gilbert, who plays Darlene, said. “The best thing television can do is make people feel connected.”

The patriarch of the family, played by Goodman, shared what he hopes fans took away from the show.

Which 'Roseanne' Stars Are and Aren't Returning to The Conners' Final Season

“I would hope that the legacy of this show would be that people saw a little of themselves in us,” Goodman noted. “Humor has always been the thing that has pulled this family through. I am going to miss it very, very much. Above all, we had fun.”

Goranson, meanwhile, recalled how the characters felt like “real people,” adding, “There wasn’t a day that I was not excited to come here to work.”

Her costar Kenney, who brought the role of Harris to life in the spinoff, couldn’t agree more: “I remember growing up and seeing all of these faces on my TV. Doing this show is something I am so grateful for.”

Elsewhere in the exclusive video, Metcalf applauded the ABC sitcom for being able “to take heavy issues and pull out humor around it.”

TV Shows Ending in 2025: See the Complete List

Roseanne introduced Us to the Conner family when it originally aired from 1988 to 1997. After being briefly revived in 2018, the story transformed into The Conners. After becoming a staple in everyone’s home, The Conners is wrapping up with a one-hour series finale on Wednesday, April 23.

According to the official synopsis, the first episode is set “ahead of the deposition” as “Dan gets support from Jackie, Becky and Darlene. Mark is presented with an opportunity which leads to a major life decision. Meanwhile, Becky and Tyler consider the next step in their relationship — joint finances.”

The series finale follows Jackie as she “prepares for a series of physical tests in an effort to rejoin the police force. Darlene confronts the insecurities in her marriage with Ben. Dan’s deposition stirs up feelings, and final farewells are made in true Conner family fashion.”

Before the series comes to an end, Goranson teased the conclusion.

Every Time The Conners' Final Season Mentioned Roseanne Barr's Character

“I think one of the things that I was hoping that did happen [when wrapping up The Conners] was knowing that they were going on with their lives. So it wasn’t like, ‘Oh, my gosh, there’s a lightning bolt and there go the Connors,'” she quipped to Us in March. “I hope that it would give you an imagination of Becky — who’s been through so much — that you knew that there was some hope in her future. Not hoping to win the lottery but hopefully finishing her degree and having her romance and having her daughter in a good place and her relationship.”

Goranson continued: “Becky has been through so much. When I see people who watch the show, they say, ‘Oh, my God, we’re rooting for Becky.’ It’s really nice to feel that investment and I’m also rooting for her.”

The actress expressed support for the possibility of returning to the role.

“I don’t want a break. I would love a spinoff. I imagine that might be complicated but I would love that. I love my colleagues so much and the crew,” Goranson shared. “We have a really, really long history. When you are around people every day like that, it’s very much like family. It sounds stereotypical, but it does feel that way. I set up a happy hour meeting for the crew and we’re always saying, ‘How do we get together again? What’s our next project together?’ It’s very sincere. We all feel this way.”

Emilio Estevez Recalls Dad Martin Sheen 'Screaming' During 1976 Breakdown

Emilio Estevez looked back on his father Martin Sheen’s experience on the set of 1976’s Apocalypse Now.

“In the documentary Hearts of Darkness, they collapsed time and portrayed his breakdown, sort of, toward the end of the schedule, when in fact it was early in the schedule when my dad was celebrating his birthday in August,” Estevez, 62, said during a recent taping of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. “So, it was August 3, and we had come. I had gotten there in July, so … he has this meltdown on set because he was celebrating his birthday and he was drinking.”

According to Estevez, his father, now 84, had been “isolated in his room” between takes.

“I was there. I watched it happen, and I was there when they carted him out,” Estevez said. “He was ranting and raging and screaming. They were shooting in a courthouse … in a building that was used for Night Court. It was upstairs, where the apartment or the hotel room [was] where they found him and carried him out. Well, they actually did that. We carried him out that night.”

The Brat Pack: A Complete Guide to the Actors That Ruled the '80s

While Estevez had previously “seen [his] dad drunk before,” it was never on the “same level” as it was that evening.

“And certainly not this publicly,” Estevez quipped. “He demanded to go into the courtroom [and] says, ‘If I don’t go in there.’ He’s screaming at my mom, ‘I need to go into that courtroom because if I don’t go in there, some poor son of a bitch is gonna go to jail for masturbating in front of a pig.’”

He continued, “And Francis [Ford Coppola, the director] was like, ‘Martin, Martin, no.’ It was hilarious.”

Estevez and his mother, Janet Sheen, were eventually able to corral Martin into a waiting car. (Martin and Janet also share son Charlie Sheen.)

Laurence Fishburne Recalls Filming 'Apocalypse Now' Sex Scene as a Virgin

“We started driving, God knows where, somewhere away where we could get him calm down,” Estevez said. “He announced to everyone in the car that he had to pee, so we pull over to the side of the road and he got out and ran naked into the jungle and kept going.”

Janet ended up chasing Martin down, urging him to return to the vehicle. The acclaimed actor then asked to stop for another restroom break, some “10 minutes later.”

“My mom says, ‘Martin, you have cried wolf too many times. You can piss all over yourself,’” Estevez remembered. “I’m sure they’re going to be horrified I told that story, but it happened. Those are the stories that I don’t think anyone has ever heard.”

Kelsea Ballerini Reveals She Wears a Wig on Stage: ‘Felt Like Hannah Montana’

Kelsea Ballerini had all of Us fooled with her Live on Tour wig.

Ballerini, 31, took to TikTok on Thursday, April 17, to share that her flowing blonde locks that she rocks on stage is actually a wig. In the clip, her hairstylist, Brittany Leslie, ran a Q-tip along her hairline to loosen the glue and tugged on the mane after she performed.

Once the wig was removed from Ballerini’s head, fans caught a glimpse of her cap, which was pinned over French plaits. Leslie then unbraided Ballerini’s hair and cleaned the rest of the glue off her face. The duo hugged each other before the singer went in with makeup remover wipes and took off her glam, which included blue eyeshadow, long lashes, foundation, rose-colored cheeks and pink lips.

Ballerini concluded the video by blowing the camera a kiss.

A second added, “IT WAS A WIG??? GURRLLL IT LOOKED SO REAL.” A third praised Leslie’s talent, writing, “Your hairdresser needs a raise, this is fantastic work.”

This isn’t the first time Ballerini has made headlines for her tour as of late. Earlier this month, she accepted a custom pair of bedazzled boots from a front-row fan and put them on as she sang her hit “Penthouse.”

Teddi Mellencamp's Son Checks If She's Still 'Breathing' Amid Cancer Battle

Teddi Mellencamp‘s kids are still making sense of her cancer battle — especially her 10-year-old son, Cruz.

“I think the girls are OK because they just are so chatty. They ask everything,” Mellencamp, 43, told Extra on Thursday, April 17. “Cruz, he is a little bit confused because he’s not asking questions.”

Along with Cruz, Mellencamp shares daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 4, with estranged husband Edwin Arroyave. She recalled recent examples of her son’s struggle to understand what she’s going through.

“The other day I was taking a sip of something and he goes, ‘Can I have a sip?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, sure.’ And he goes, ‘Never mind, actually you’re contagious.’ I’m like, ‘I’m actually not contagious, bud,’” she said. “He’ll come in in the middle of the night and check that I’m breathing.”

Teddi Mellencamp's Sweetest Pics With Her 3 Kids

The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, who was initially diagnosed with melanoma in 2022, announced earlier this year that she required surgery after doctors found multiple malignant tumors on her brain. She has since needed additional treatment to manage the tumors that were not able to be surgically removed.

“Today is a good day. I think what I’ve learned through all of this is some days, I’m gonna feel great. Some days, I’m not. Everybody’s journey’s different,” Mellencamp told the outlet. “I would say a big thing has been all of the people messaging me saying, ‘I went and got checked because of you.’ Or ‘My doctor only had me get this checked, and then I said, ‘No, you should also do this.’”

As her health battle continues, Mellencamp is determined to raise awareness.

“What we have to remember is that my cancer was skin cancer. The last time we spoke here, I had skin cancer — melanoma — on my back. This metastasized, which is still a form of melanoma, but into my brain, into my lungs,” she explained. “Before I had them removed, I had four plum-sized melanomas in my brain, and I hadn’t gotten a CAT scan. But I had gone and gotten my skin checked every three months.”

Mellencamp has another important appointment coming later this month, adding, “Wednesday, I go in and get my next CAT scan, where they’ll find out if these recent tumors are getting smaller, and then I also get my third round of immunotherapy. I always thought radiation was the one that was going to kick my butt, but it’s been immunotherapy.”

'RHOBH' Alum Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave's Relationship Timeline

Despite announcing her split from Arroyave in November 2024, Mellencamp confirmed they are still living under the same roof.

“We’re not together, but we put all the divorce stuff on hold because getting divorced is very stressful,” she noted. “It’s called nesting, but most of the time now since I’ve had these surgeries, he’ll stay at the house and then we kind of rotate around. But we’re separate bedroom-ing.”

She added: “He’s a good guy, and we’re having a friendship, which is what we liked about each other in the first place. We are making each other laugh and all of those types of things so I think it’s been really nice. We call it the divorce chronicles, where we just tease each other.”

Reliving TV's Most Shocking Deaths

Whether it’s drama, comedy or something in between, TV show writers have never been afraid to surprise audiences with a memorable character death.

Back in March 1975, M*A*S*H became a TV death pioneer when Lieutenant Colonel Henry Blake (McLean Stevenson) died in the season 3 finale. The character was headed home after being honorably discharged from the army, but before he could make it, he was killed by enemy fire.

Some 21st-century shows, however, make M*A*S*H‘s surprise death look tame.

Lost, which ran from 2004 to 2010, became known for its shocking twists before the first season was even finished. In the April 2005 episode “Do No Harm,” viewers were devastated when Boone (Ian Somerhalder) died after a plane fell on him in the jungle, and his passing was just the beginning.

Manifest, You, Game of Thrones and more hit series have also thrown fans for a loop by killing off fan favorites.

Weeks before the season 8 finale, fans were left reeling when the beloved fire captain (played by Krause) died from exposure to a deadly and accelerated virus during a two-part thriller.
“I’ve heard that many fans are upset by this loss and they have a right to be. It is a loss. That said, it was more than a bold creative choice on a bold show,” Krause said in a statement in April 2025. “Bobby Nash was written in sacrifice and he was built for this. First responders risk their lives on the job so that others can see another day. His story arc honors them. We at 9-1-1 salute all the incredible men and women who do these dangerous jobs and strive to keep us safe.”

After finding out that Chandler Groff was his biological father, JJ (Rudy Pankow) went on a whirlwind adventure during season 4 of Outer Banks. The major highs and lows seemed to be leading up to JJ realising that his life was full thanks to his girlfriend Kiara (Madison Bailey) and the rest of the Pogues. Instead, JJ was stabbed to death in the fourth season and didn't live long enough to wrap up the show with season 5. To make matters worse, Outer Banks put JJ and Kiara on the backburner before his controversial death.

After keeping a big secret from Osha (Amandla Stenberg) throughout the first season, Sol finally admitted to it during the season finale. Osha, however, didn't take kindly to finding out that her mentor was responsible for her mother's death and killed him using the Force. The heartbreaking death hit even harder after Sol was blamed for all the other murders that took place throughout the season.

Sheldon Cooper’s beloved father, George Cooper Sr., died of an offscreen heart attack during the final season of Young Sheldon. His sudden death was revealed in the final moments of May 9’s episode, which premiered one week before the two-part finale is set to air on May 16.

During season 2, episode 5, Cara gets into an ambulance accident during a fire tornado. When the vehicle crashes, she suffers brain damage. Without access to the hospital, she dies but not before Bode (Max Thieriot) agrees to stay on the straight and narrow for her daughter, Genevieve. (Bode could be Gen’s biological father.)

During season 4, viewers met Eddie when he found himself at the center of a murder investigation. The leader of the Hellfire Club teamed up with Dustin and his friends to help them defeat Vecna — and clear his name. In Volume 2, however, Eddie comes full circle when he decides to stay behind in the Upside Down as a distraction instead of running away from danger. Eddie gets Dustin to safety but ends up losing too much blood himself. When Dustin returns for Eddie, he dies in his arms as a hero.

Saving the world sometimes means losing a hero. In order to save Caitlin (Panabaker) from the villainous Deathstorm (Robbie Amell) in the middle of season 8, Team Flash asked Frost (also Panabaker) to level up her powers. The process resulted in Frost's death, leaving a devastated Caitlin without her sister figure. "I loved getting to play her and all the different variations of her, the evil version, and then particularly these last couple of seasons, getting to see her really come into her own and have experiences and grow up and mature and take responsibility for her actions, I've enjoyed that immensely," Panabaker told EW about the shocking death. "So obviously it's a loss, but it did make for some great storytelling."

There were many deaths throughout Ozark’s four seasons, but the one that shocked fans the most was when Ruth was killed in an act of retaliation. During the second half of the final season, which aired in April 2022, Ruth murdered Javi (Alfonso Herrera) after she learned he was responsible for the death of her cousin Wyatt (Charlie Tahan). Her revenge plan led to a startling twist when Javi’s mom followed her home in the series finale and shot her.

Fans were shocked when Eve and Villanelle finally gave into their feelings during the series finale — only to have the assassin killed at the very last moment.
Executive producer Sally Woodward revealed that Villanelle’s death was planned "quite early on" in the writing process. "We were open to something else sort of declaring itself, but it never really changed," she told Deadline in April 2022, shortly after the season 4 finale premiered. "We also didn’t want to do anything horrible to her. I mean, pretty horrible. We didn’t want to do anything gruesome to her. We didn’t want to sort of go, here, 'See how you like it.' And we wanted it to be epic as well. She was surrounded by a sort of celestial light because she’s a special being."

When Jane Villaneuva's (Gina Rodriguez) husband died suddenly in season 3, tears were heard all across the CW-viewing universe. It was later revealed that Michael survived — this was a telenovela, after all — but the devastating moment when Jane found out about her first love's "death" remains seared in fans' brains.

Sex and the City fans were devastated in December 2021 when Carrie's husband, John James Preston (a.k.a. Mr. Big), died in the first episode of revival series, And Just Like That. The financier, who experienced heart problems during season 6 of SATC's original run, had a heart attack after a particularly invigorating session on his Peloton bike.
After the episode debuted, Peloton issued a statement noting that Mr. Big's death couldn't only be attributed to his exercise. "Mr. Big lived what many would call an extravagant lifestyle — including cocktails, cigars, and big steaks — and was at serious risk as he had a previous cardiac event in season 6,” the company told Us Weekly in a statement at the time. “These lifestyle choices and perhaps even his family history, which often is a significant factor, were the likely cause of his death. Riding his Peloton bike may have even helped delay his cardiac event.”

Breaking Bad had plenty of violent deaths throughout its five seasons, but few hurt as much as Jane's did in season 2. After Jane overdosed on heroin, Walter White (Bryan Cranston) allowed her to choke on her own vomit rather than help her. After Love's murderous tendencies got out of control during You season 3, which premiered in October 2021, it became clear that it was only a matter of time before Joe (Penn Badgley) would do something about it. Still, it was shocking when he killed her and framed her for all their previous crimes, then fled to Paris in pursuit of a new life.

Like Lost before it, The Walking Dead was known for killing off beloved characters, but arguably no death was as upsetting as that of Glenn Rhee's (Steven Yeun) in season 7. Comic book readers assumed the death was coming given its occurrence in the source material, but the moment came as a shock to fans who hadn't read the series — and most viewers agreed that it was surprisingly graphic, even for a zombie apocalypse show.

On the series finale of Game of Thrones, the Queen of Dragons was murdered by Jon Snow (Kit Harington), after she murdered an entire city and planned to kill his close friend, Tyrion (Peter Dinklage). During the May 2019 episode, he told her, “You are my queen, now and always,” before kissing her and stabbing her.

Following Roseanne Barr’s racist tweet in May 2018, the revival Roseanne was canceled by ABC. In June, the network announced they’d be bringing back The Conners, a sitcom that would follow the family without its lead character. On the series premiere of The Conners, the family found out Roseanne had died due to an overdose on opioids, which made sense since the character had struggled with a pill addiction in the past. Following the October premiere, Barr said in a statement that the death “lent an unnecessary grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show."

Oh no, they didn’t! In the season 5 finale of the HBO drama, Jon Snow (Harington) is tricked into coming outside before being stabbed by fellow members of the Night’s Watch in front of a sign that read “traitor.” When he’s finally stabbed in the heart by little Olly (Brenock O’Connor), he dropped to the ground as a pool of blood circled around him. Though the Song of Ice and Fire books remained vague about Snow’s fate, episode director David Nutter confirmed, “Jon Snow is dead.” As fans predicted, however, Jon later came back to life thanks to some fire magic from Melisandre (Carice van Houten).

Showtime shocked audiences by killing off one if its lead characters during season 4 of The Affair. Not only was Alison’s death – first ruled a suicide but cause is still up in the air – surprising, the timing was also strange, as it happened during episode eight of the penultimate season. “Ruth wanted to leave the show. That was a request, so that was decided basically before we started writing. It wasn't a discovery of any kind. That was very deliberate,” cocreator and showrunner Sarah Treem told The Hollywood Reporter. “And actually, we shot all of her work first. Her whole story line was shot before we shot anything else.”

During the season 5 finale of NBC’s Chicago P.D., Alvin Olinsky’s (Elias Koteas) fate was revealed: the longtime detective died after being stabbed in prison. He was serving time for a murder he did not commit, but didn’t want to turn in his best friend. Ultimately, his loyalty cost him his life.

Not cool, GoT! Fans of George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire book series watched in horror in season 5 as Melisandre convinced Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) to burn his young daughter alive at the stake as a sacrifice to the Lord of Light.

In the winter finale of Revenge's fourth season, Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman) took several bullets from an assassin while saving the life of his ex Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp). He died in Em's arms, and Bowman later said, "By having him save Emily and sacrifice himself, it was the perfect, fitting end for the character."

In the penultimate episode to the FX show’s series finale, lead Jax (Charlie Hunnam) confronts his mother Gemma (Katey Sagal) after learning she was responsible for the brutal murder of his wife, Tara (Maggie Siff). Gemma asks Jax to kill her, and he shoots her out in the garden.

Though Grey's Anatomy is known for its twists and turns, three of the most shocking deaths on the medical drama involved main characters. At the end of the fifth season, a seriously injured, unrecognizable man comes into the hospital after jumping in front of a bus to save a woman's life. The doctors later realize it's George O'Malley (T.R. Knight), and he later dies in the sixth season premiere. Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) and Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh) both died because of a shocking plane crash.

After appearing in more than 50 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Kristine Sutherland took her last breath on the beloved show as Joyce Summers. In "The Body," perhaps the most critically acclaimed episode in the entire cult series, Buffy Summers' mother passed away of natural causes near the end of the fifth season of the show, as she is found by her vampire-fighting daughter in her home.

Known for its bloody and gruesome moments, Game of Thrones shocked fans when Ned Stark (Sean Bean) was killed off at the end of the first season. The House Stark leader was beheaded by the order of the maniacal King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson). Later, in the third season, Catelynn Stark, Robb Stark and Talisa Stark died at the Red Wedding — in which Walder Frey double-crosses House Stark and, avenging a past slight, massacres Catelynn, her son Robb and his pregnant wife, among many others.

In a series finale twist, it was revealed that Roseanne's husband, Dan Conner (John Goodman), died of a heart attack. While it appeared he had survived the health scare, the final episode showed that the plot was a story that Roseanne had written and altered.

The celebrated nighttime soap opera Dallas played host to one of the most famous murder-mystery plotlines in television history in the show's third season. Main character J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman) was shot by an unknown assailant, spawning the catchphrase, "Who shot J.R.?"

In what was one of the more random — and perhaps hilarious — TV deaths, Susan Biddle Ross (Heidi Swedberg) passed away on Seinfeld after being poisoned by the glue on the envelopes to her wedding invitations.

One of the more moral characters on The Sopranos, Adriana La Cerva (Drea de Matteo) was killed in the fifth season of the HBO show. After agreeing to inform the FBI, Christopher Moltisanti's (Michael Imperioli) love is killed — brutally, of course — by mobster Silvio Dante (Steven Van Zandt).

After fighting the good fight for three seasons, Nick Brody (Damian Lewis) lost his life in the third season finale. After welcoming his newborn baby George with Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery), an emphatically happy Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens) dies in a tragic car accident on his way back from meeting his son at the end of the third season. 3 Underrated Amazon Prime Video Movies to Watch This Weekend (April 18-20)

April is nearing its end, and there are too many movies to watch. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is in theaters right now, and movies starring Jude Law, Tilda Swinton and Jack Quaid will debut on several streaming services.

If you’re craving movies a tad older and somewhat underrated, then this list is for you. Amazon Prime Video has hundreds of films at its disposal, and these three stand out for their solid entertainment value.

‘Speak No Evil’ (2024)

English-language remakes of acclaimed foreign films are usually pretty bad — one only needs to think of the awful 1993 The Vanishing remake with Jeff Bridges and the mediocre 2022 version of Goodnight Mommy with Naomi Watts. (Better yet, don’t.) But Speak No Evil is a surprisingly decent redo of the chilling 2022 Danish original, and while it lacks that film’s powerful ending, it adds some social commentary about toxic masculinity that gives the American version its own identity.

Americans Ben and Louise Dalton (Scoot McNairy and Mackenzie Davis) befriend English couple Paddy and Ciara (James McAvoy and Aisling Franciosi) on vacation and accept the latter duo’s invitation to stay at their farm in Devon. But the Daltons’ younger daughter, Agnes (Alix West Lefler), thinks something is off with the Daltons’ son, Ant (Dan Hough), who is mute and terrified of his parents. What’s really going on with Paddy and Ciara? And why are they so interested in Agnes?

Speak No Evil is almost unbearably tense, and the director, James Watkins, is good at ratcheting up suspense just when it’s needed. Compared to the original, the ending is a bit disappointing, but the movie is still worth watching if only to see McAvoy play a rare bad-guy role. He’s awful in the best way possible.

Speak No Evil is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

‘The Bedroom Window’ (1987)

Late one night, Sylvia (Isabelle Huppert) witnesses the brutal assault and murder of a young woman from a bedroom window. She clearly sees who did it, but because she’s there only due to an extramarital affair she’s having with Terry (Steve Guttenberg), she can’t tell anyone without her husband finding out she’s been unfaithful. Eager to bring the woman’s killer to justice, Terry decides to tell the police what Sylvia saw — except he insists he was the sole witness to the crime and not his married lover.

An ’80s update on Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1954 film Rear Window, The Bedroom Window fully exploits its intriguing premise and generates enough suspense to keep you glued to the screen for all of the film’s 112 minutes. Known primarily for his comedic work in the lowbrow Police Academy series, Guttenberg is a convincingly well-intentioned everyman caught in an impossible situation. Huppert, in one of her few English-language roles, is appropriately seductive and very French as the increasingly desperate Sylvia, and a pre–Downton Abbey Elizabeth McGovern shows up as Terry’s sensible friend, Denise.

The Bedroom Window is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

‘Begin Again’ (2014)

Music executive Dan (Mark Ruffalo) finds himself out of a job and estranged from his wife and teenage daughter. Dejected, he hangs out at an NYC bar where he meets Gretta (Keira Knightley), a struggling songwriter who soon inspires him to — you guessed it — begin again by helping her produce her songs. But making music in the 21st century isn’t easy, and Gretta isn’t willing to compromise her artistic vision to gain the commercial success Dan craves to get his job and family back. Can the pair find a common ground to continue their professional collaboration and — more importantly — their burgeoning friendship?

Begin Again was written and directed by John Carney, who made the similarly themed Once in 2007. Both films are shamelessly sentimental, but they work because of the dedication and charm of their two lead performers.

Ruffalo and Knightley are an odd pair, but their unusual chemistry gives the film an edge it would lack if Carney had cast one of his original choices for Gretta, Adele or Scarlett Johansson. The film’s ending isn’t realistic, but Begin Again is more of a fantasy about people’s inherent good intentions than an accurate portrayal of the music business.

3 Underrated HBO and Max Movies to Watch This Weekend (April 18-20)

April has been a great month for movie lovers. The Minecraft Movie has grossed millions at the box office, and diverse, thought-provoking films like Warfare, Drop and The Friend have won praise from critics and audiences alike.

If you’ve already seen those movies or just want to stay inside this weekend, don’t worry — there’s plenty to watch on streaming too.

HBO and Max have hundreds of films to choose from, and the three below are all high-quality movies that deserve some attention.

‘Goodrich’ (2024)

Andy Goodrich’s (Michael Keaton) life just took a turn for the worse. His younger wife, Naomi (Laura Benanti), just left him, his art dealing business is failing and his adult daughter, Grace (Mila Kunis), doesn’t like him. But he needs her help to care for his 9-year-old twins, and she needs him to be there for her when she gives birth to her own child. Can an absentee dad and an estranged daughter repair their relationship this late in both of their lives?

Michael Keaton and Mila Kunis Are a Fractured Family Duo in 'Goodrich' Clip

Goodrich didn’t get a lot of attention when it was released last year, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good movie. On the contrary, it’s a quietly excellent drama that features some of Keaton’s best acting ever. Kunis is good too, and both actors convincingly portray members of a fractured family who still can’t quite get over their past mistakes.

Goodrich is streaming on Max.

‘A Kind of Murder’ (2016)

Wally Stackhouse (Patrick Wilson) is an aspiring writer fascinated by the recent murder of a local woman. He suspects the woman’s husband, bookseller Mitch Kimmel (Eddie Marsan), is the culprit, and begins stalking him. Meanwhile, Wally’s wife, Clara (Jessica Biel), is found dead nearby the same place Mitch’s wife’s body was discovered. Did Mitch kill both women? Or is Wally looking for the perfect scapegoat for his own crimes?

A Kind of Murder is based on Patricia Highsmith’s 1954 crime novel, The Blunderer, and the story is reminiscent of her more famous work, Strangers on a Train, which was about two men linked by the death of one of their loved ones. In this movie, you’re never sure who is innocent and who is guilty, and the last shot of the film makes you rethink everything you’ve just seen. A Kind of Murder is a throwback thriller Hollywood used to make all the time in the ’50s, and its retro kitsch is its chief asset.

A Kind of Murder is streaming on Max.

‘Diggers’ (2007)

It’s 1976, and America is celebrating its bicentennial birthday. For Hunt (Paul Rudd), Lozo (Ken Marino), Cons (Josh Hamilton) and Jack (Ron Eldard), it’s just another year digging for clams in Long Island’s bourgeois enclave. Their families have been doing it for generations, and it’s just a way of life they all take for granted. But when a bad fishing season and the arrival of a competitor threaten their day-to-day lives, the four friends have to make some hard choices about their future.

18 Great New Movies to Watch on Netflix, (HBO) Max, Amazon Prime, Hulu, More

Diggers is a shaggy, low-key coming-of-age story about grown men who have refused to grow up and be responsible. This dramedy manages to find some good laughs and thoughtful observations about the difficulties of moving on, and the acting — particularly Rudd as the group’s de facto leader — is good and feels authentic. Diggers may be the only movie about the lives and loves of working-class clamdiggers, and fortunately, it’s a good one.

Diggers is streaming on Max.

Justin Rose Hasn't Spoken to His Wife About Her Viral Hug With Rory McIlroy

Justin Rose’s wife, Kate Rose, had a viral moment with Masters champion Rory McIlroy after his triumphant victory last weekend — but the spouses haven’t even discussed it.

Kate, 44, shared a 13-second embrace with McIlroy, 35, after he defeated Justin, 44, in the first sudden death playoff hole at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday, April 13. The hug was caught by CBS cameras and immediately went viral on social media.

When asked by reporters at the RBC Heritage on Thursday, April 17, if Justin and Kate had talked about the moment, Justin said, “No, not really.”

“There was some article somewhere [saying] like, ‘Who’s the mystery woman that was hugging Rory?’” Justin continued. “It turned out to be Kate. That was pretty funny.”

“Listen, I think in the moment you realize what it means to everybody involved,” Justin said of Kate and Rory’s hug. “You realize what it means to other families, what they must be feeling. You’re a part of the moment. You’re a part of the story. You’re a part of all of the energy that’s going on in that moment. I think that’s what happens.”

Justin added, “You embrace that connection that you have with everybody and all that’s going on in the moment.”

During the hug, Kate could be heard telling McIlroy she was “really happy for him.”

Breaking Down Masters Champion Rory McIlroy's 9-Figure Career Earnings

McIlroy has been married to his wife, Erica Stoll, since 2017 and they share a daughter, Poppy, 4. The couple did briefly split last year after McIlroy filed for divorce in May 2024, but the golfer rescinded his filing just one month later.

Kate and Stoll, 37, also shared a hug on the edge of the 18th green after McIlroy sank a putt to win the Masters. McIlroy became just the sixth golfer in history to win the career grand slam, securing victories at the Masters, U.S. Open, Open Championship and PGA Championship.

“I gave it everything….,” Justin posted via X on Sunday evening. “Congratulations @McIlroyRory on winning the @TheMasters and completing the Grand Slam.. very cool sharing the green with you in that moment… Thank you Team 🌹 as always for all the support during the week… We go again 👊🏻.”

Chris Keller Almost Ended Up With 1 of Haley's Sisters on ‘One Tree Hill’

In another world, Chris Keller would have ended up with a James after all.

Tyler Hilton, who played one of One Tree Hill’s most memorable guest stars across the show’s nine seasons, recently told Us Weekly that there was interest in him being a series regular but it didn’t work out with his music commitments. He first appeared in season 2, meeting Peyton (Hilarie Burton Morgan) at the record store and being enlisted to play at her open mic night. His character subsequently served as a threat to Haley (Bethany Joy Lenz) and Nathan’s (James Lafferty)’s marriage as Chris hit on Haley.

“I always had a big crush on Joy, so I was definitely wanting them to push it farther,” Hilton told Us. “From my understanding, I don’t think our characters were supposed to end up together, but they did a lot of incorporating stuff that happened in real life into the show. Chris was supposed to be more sinister, but I was having a lot of fun with him, so they really leaned into the comedy of Chris. And then he became more of, like, someone you wanna punch in the face than literally kill.”

Chris came back in season 2 when the chemistry between Hilton and Lenz was clear.

OTH’s Tyler Hilton Tried to Date Joy Lenz But Her 'Cult' Didn't Approve

“Joy and I became friends and were jamming and stuff off set. I loved her music and I just thought she was so great. And that’s when they started kind of writing these scenes for us together. And I was like, ‘Oh, my God, this is so cool. … This is unbelievable,’” he continued. “But that’s when people started really hating me too.”

After leaving Nathan to go on tour (with Chris) during season 2, Haley returned to Tree Hill in the season finale, and Naley was fully back together by the middle of season 3. Chris, however, continued to pop up.

“They always were throwing around all kinds of crazy story lines. I never knew what was happening. A lot had to do with how much the label was allowing me at that point to be there,” Hilton told Us. “Every year, God bless them, One Tree Hill was trying to make Chris a main character, which would’ve been so fun, but it would’ve meant no touring and no promo. So if I had been a main character, who knows? They can only use me as much as I’m around then decide what they can do plot-wise.”

Let Us Remind You OTH's Chris Keller and SLoTAT's Grace Are Married

According to Hilton, one of the ideas discussed was Chris dating one of Haley’s sisters. Fans met Taylor James (Lindsey McKeon) during season 2 and Quinn James (Shantel VanSanten) during season 7. Based on the timeline, Hilton was likely referring to Chris and Taylor as a potential match.

“I don’t know if I would’ve stayed around, if they would’ve broken up, but I know at one point — which I thought would’ve been so funny — they were gonna try to have me end up with Haley’s sister,” he said. “I’m sure if I would’ve stayed around, I would’ve just gone through all the girls, like a guy version of Brooke or whatever. Just spent time with all of them, which would’ve made sense and ruined everyone’s life a little bit.”

Hilton’s schedule did allow him to return for the ninth and final season, which aired in 2012. His story came full-circle when he ended up helping Haley save Nathan from Russian kidnappers. (Yes, you read that right.)

Rewinding 'One Tree Hill': Counting Down the Show’s Iconic Moments

“It totally spun out into ridiculousness. But so funny. Chris is one of my favorite characters I’ve ever gotten to play,” Hilton said. “If I got to play Chris Keller for the rest of my life, I would be really stoked. I would get these scripts and I would just laugh to myself so much and just cringe and be like, ‘I can’t believe they’re gonna do this.’ Some of the actors while we were filming, like Sophia [Bush] and different people, we’d be doing scenes and they’d call cut and she’d be like, ‘I want to f***ing punch you so bad right now.’ He was just so easy to hate, and it was so fun to be that guy.”

How 3 Recent Moves Hint at Rising Royal Family Tensions

It appears that King Charles III and his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, might be growing further apart.

Charles, who ascended the British throne in 2022 after the death of mother Queen Elizabeth II, shared his two children with late ex-wife Princess Diana. (Charles is now married to Queen Camilla, and they recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.)

Ever since 2019, the royals have been plagued by familial drama and estrangements. Fresh off his wedding to Meghan Markle, Harry and William opted to formally split their households. The once-tight sibling bond fractured even more when the Duke of Sussex claimed that William had helped leak false stories about Meghan online. (William, for his part, has never addressed the accusations.)

Harry’s relationship with Charles also fractured, as he claimed that the king financially cut him and Meghan off when they stepped back from their senior royal duties in 2020 and moved across the pond to California.

Prince Harry's Ups and Downs With the Royal Family Over the Years

“I will always love him, but there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened,” Harry said during a 2021 CBS interview. “I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship.”

Harry and Charles started reopening the lines of communication after the monarch was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in early 2024.

“I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that,” Harry said on Good Morning America that Feburary. “I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could. … I’ve got other trip plans that will take me through the U.K., or back to the U.K. So, I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”

However, it appears the dynamic might have backslid on the heels of Harry’s court case, William’s latest charity hire and surprising plans for the family’s Easter celebrations. Keep scrolling for a full breakdown:

Prince Harry’s Deeply Personal Court Case

Harry had a hearing in April 2025 over his appeal regarding the decision to revoke his and Meghan’s security whenever they are in the U.K. with kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Speaking with The Telegraph, Harry called the decision “difficult to swallow” as speculation swirled that it was a factor in his tension with Charles.

“[My] worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case — and that’s really sad,” Harry added to People, with several royal watchers speculating that the comment is a subtle reference to Charles. Many believe that Harry hinted his dad could have sway in the appeal result, given his royal position as king.

Separate Easter Plans

News broke days later that William and his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, were not planning to attend the family’s annual Easter church services in favor of spring break with their children. (The Prince and Princess of Wales usually join Charles and Camilla at the Sunday mass, often bringing kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.)

“This is a big deal,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly. “It’s royal tradition for the family to attend this together. Everyone understood the family not attending last year when Kate was sick, but there’s been a lot of raised eyebrows at the palace about William’s decision to skip again this year. It feels like a deliberate move and even a snub.”

Kate battled an undisclosed form of cancer in 2024. She went through chemotherapy treatment and is currently in remission.

Prince William's Former Aide Discusses 'Sad' Rift With Prince Harry

William’s Surprise Earthshot Prize Hire

The same day as the Easter news broke, it was revealed that Jason Knauf would become the CEO for the Earthshot Prize organization after an appointment by the Board of Trustees. William had launched the nonprofit to, per a website description, “find, support and celebrate those who turn bold ideas into real solutions to repair our planet.”

“As we look ahead to the future of The Prize and the urgent work needed to scale more inspiring solutions to the world’s greatest challenges, I look forward to working with Jason to chart the course for the next five years of The Earthshot Prize and beyond,” William said in a statement.

Knauf previously served as communications secretary for William, Kate, Harry and Meghan. In 2018, Knauf accused Meghan of bullying and claimed that she drove two assistants out of a job and undermined the confidence of another employer. She denied all allegations at the time.

Jewels Sparkles and Lexi Love Share 'Drag Race' Critiques They Still Use

RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 is nearly at an end, but the top four queens are still thinking about some of the critiques they got during their time on the show.

Ahead of the Friday, April 18, season finale, Jewels Sparkles, Lexi Love, Onya Nurve and Sam Star exclusively shared what advice they took with them since filming wrapped. (The season’s winner will be crowned during Friday’s episode.)

“One of the critiques I got a lot on the show was my runway walk being very fast,” Jewels told Us Weekly. “And something RuPaul always told me was to ground myself a little bit more.”

While that might sound like a note that only applies on the main stage, Jewels noted that she’s still thinking about it both in and out of drag.

“I’ve taken that with me into my everyday life, like grounding myself in all moments and reminding myself that there’s power in just existing,” she explained. “Like, you don’t always have to do the most, you don’t have to be all over the place. There is just power in your existence and your presence.”

Lexi, meanwhile, said that silencing her “inner saboteur” is the lesson that’s stuck with her the most.

“That’s obviously something that I really, really focused on while I was there, and that’s something that I took from it,” she told Us. “It’s something that I think resonated with a lot of people. So that’s something that I’m just grateful and very thankful for continuously.”

Onya and Sam have also been incorporating Ru’s advice about the importance of showing vulnerability behind the glitter.

Betsey Johnson Shares Behind-the-Scenes Memories From ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’

“For me, I think it is realizing that I can let my guard down and be myself at all times,” Onya explained to Us. “I don’t really have to keep a wall up. It kind of stops people from enjoying who you are. Leaving Drag Race, I’ve just learned to just spread joy because it’s so contagious and to be open to developing relationships with people at all angles.”

Sam shared a similar sentiment, noting that Ru and the other judges often advised her to “be more vulnerable and show the silly Sam” behind the perfect pageant queen.

“It’s been so liberating for me ’cause now I just get to have fun and I’ll just say what I wanna say,” she said. “And I like to make people laugh. I love to make these girls laugh. It makes me warm inside, ’cause it is a tough room! Sometimes they’re hard to make laugh, but when you get it good, it’s fierce.”

It sounds like Sam and Onya had plenty of laughs together, as they were paired for “recreational time” during filming and hung out a lot at the hotel pool.

Onya Nurve and Sam Star Break Down Hardest Parts of 'RuPaul's Drag Race'

“Onya and I spent lots of time together, and I’m so proud that the pool girls made it all the way to the end,” Sam said, with Onya adding, “Full circle moment!”

The duo went on to joke that their first post-show collaboration will be a line of inflatable pools.

“We’re gonna sell them at Target and Walmart. All your superstores, honey!” Sam quipped. “They’ll be there on the endcap because we paid the big money.”

Alas, Pool Girls Pools will not really be coming to a store near you (at least not yet), but Onya does hope to work with her fellow season 17 queens again.

“We do shows together every now and then, but I would love to do a podcast with one of my sisters — do any type of project,” Onya told Us. “These are such a talented group of motherf***ers.”

The season 17 finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race airs on MTV Friday, April 18, at 8 p.m. ET.

See the Moment the Chiefs Drafted Travis Kelce in the 2013 NFL Draft

The Kansas City Chiefs are taking a victory lap for drafting Travis Kelce, more than a decade after the 2013 signing.

The four-time Super Bowl champs shared a video from the 2013 NFL Draft via Instagram on Thursday, April 17, showing the moment they drafted the tight end — then a senior on the Cincinnati Bearcats.

In the video, Kelce, now 35, appeared to know his name was about to be called. As Chiefs CEO and President Clark Hunt stepped up to the podium, Kelce watched intently while someone sitting to his right recorded the TV screen on their phone.

“With the 63rd pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Travis Kelce,” Hunt said into the microphone.

Kelce rose in celebration before Hunt even said his name, embracing his mom, Donna Kelce, as the rest of the room cheered.

“This pick worked out, right @killatrav? 🤝,” the Chiefs wrote in the caption of their Thursday post.

“And the rest is history,” the “New Heights” podcast replied to the post. Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce, have cohosted the popular podcast since 2022.

After an injury limited Travis’ impact in his rookie season, he came back in 2014 to start 11 of the team’s 16 games. He became a full-time starter the next year, earning his first of 10 straight Pro Bowl honors. During Travis’ tenure, the Chiefs have won three Super Bowl rings and finished with a winning record every season.

Travis Kelce Breaks Down How He Decided to Return for 13th NFL Season

Now nearing the end of his career, Travis considered retirement after the Chiefs fell short in the Super Bowl LIX in February.

“I know everybody wants to know whether or not I’m playing next year and right now I’m just kicking everything down the road,” he said during an episode of “New Heights” days after the Super Bowl. “I’m not making any crazy decisions but right now the biggest thing is just being there for my teammates and being there for my coaches, understanding [there’s] a lot that goes into this thing.”

Two weeks later, ESPN personality Pat McAfee read a text message from Travis on his show in which the tight end confirmed he would return to the Chiefs.

“[I’m] gonna try and get to the best shape I’ve been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop,” he said, according to McAfee, 37.

The message continued, “Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and how I got the guys ready for battle. I can’t go out like that!!!!”

Travis will be in the second year of a two-year contract he signed with Kansas City, worth $34.25 million.

Angela Bassett Said She Couldn't 'Imagine' '9-1-1' Without Bobby and Athena

Angela Bassett had hoped 9-1-1‘s Athena Grant and Bobby Nash would be together forever.

But the Thursday, April 17, episode of the ABC procedural ended on a shocking note, as Peter Krause’s Bobby met his demise. The second half of the show’s 9-1-1: Contagion two-part event saw the 118 crew be rescued from a lab containing a dangerous virus. After Chimney (Kenneth Choi) received the only anecdote for the disease, Bobby revealed he had secretly been infected and shared a tearful goodbye with Athena (Bassett).

Just last month, Bassett, 66, gushed about Athena and Bobby’s onscreen relationship in an interview with People, stating that the show “would be so different” if one of them left the series.

“I don’t even know what the show would be like without them together,” she told the outlet in an interview published on March 27. “It’s hard to imagine.”

'9-1-1' Showrunner Explains Major Character Death, Angela Bassett Reacts

Bassett dubbed the pair as “your metaphorical, weekly mom and dad,” lovingly adding, “We’ll keep you safe.” The actress went on to praise Krause, 59, calling the Parenthood alum “so strong, and stable, and secure.”

She continued, “He’s just calm. He’s just a calming influence. He’ll joke a little bit, but he [doesn’t] mind being the butt of the joke. Yeah. So he’d always have one.”

9-1-1’s Athena and Bobby have been together for the majority of the show’s run. The two went on their first date during the show’s 2018 season 1 finale and tied the knot in season 2. The spouses have gone through many ups and downs together over the seasons, most recently rebuilding their house after it was burned down by a dangerous cartel in season 7.

Krause gave his TV wife a special shout-out in a farewell letter shared by Deadline on Thursday. “I will miss my partner, Angela Bassett. Her strength and her sweetness, and us holding hands. We parted ways too soon. Much love.”

He noted that he “won’t have a relationship like that again on TV” in a Friday, April 18, interview with Good Morning America. “It’s been a fantastic eight years. I’m going to miss her a lot.”

Bassett revealed to Deadline that she didn’t know that Bobby would be killed off until she got the episode’s script. “I remember [showrunner] Tim [Minear] called. He said, ‘Someone’s going to pass away,’” she shared. “I said, ‘Is it me?’ Self-preservation, you know. I went through the list, you start with yourself, but I was very surprised that it was my husband.”

Noting that she “enjoyed” filming Athena and Bobby’s dramatic goodbye, she added, “You’re separated by the glass, by the partition, by everything that separates people, your metaphor for whatever separates people, the virus, all of it. And seeing them, seeing their eyes, the memory of who they are, who they are to you, it was just there, every moment, every take for the two of us — the history, the bond.”

Minear, 61, told Variety that Thursday’s episode “is not Peter Krause’s final appearance this season,” and that the decision to kill Bobby was not because Krause expressed interest in leaving the show.

“I still think people grip their seats and are excited when Athena lands a plane on the freeway or a ship capsizes — but after eight years, it just felt like, if we have any hope of creating stories going forward that have actual stakes, then someone’s got to die,” he explained, stating it “made sense” for that character to be Bobby.

'9-1-1' Cast's Dating Histories Through the Years: Angela Bassett, More

“If you track the tragic arc of his character, of where he started, and how he came to L.A. looking for atonement, it just makes a kind of tragic sense for his character in a way it wouldn’t for another character,” Minear shared. “But also, I just didn’t want to go small. Not that any of the characters are small, but Bobby’s death affects every single character’s story in a way that really no other character death would.”

9-1-1 airs on ABC Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.

Lauren Ash's Devastating Split Inspired Music Video With 'Superstore' Cameos

Lauren Ash‘s newest song “Cool Story, Bro” isn’t just the perfect rage anthem — it is also the biggest Superstore cast reunion.

In Us Weekly‘s exclusive debut of the “Cool Story, Bro” music video, Ash, 42, hit back following a “really devastating breakup” with a very cathartic track.

“At one point in the end, [my ex] said to me [what] the meanest thing I ever said to him was. I replied, ‘Cool story, bro,'” Ash recalled about her recent split. “I thought it was so interesting. I was like, ‘He’s right.’ That is the meanest thing I ever said to him. But there’s just so many meaner things that I would’ve loved to have said. But of course I never would because I’m not a monster.”

The interaction served as inspiration for the song, with Ash adding, “If you listen to the lyrics, it’s like the letter that you write to an ex that you never really intend to send. It’s just you at your most petty and mean self. You put it all down but you never actually send — or I never actually send those letters. But you feel better just having written it.”

Kris Jenner and More Epic Celeb Music Video Cameos

“Cool Story, Bro” documents the period of time after a difficult breakup.

“It starts where it’s, like, two weeks out and that first verse is almost kind of pathetic. I think that’s relatable too. You’re like, ‘What can I do? How can I change? What can I do to get you back?'” Ash explained. “Then the second verse starts talking about two months out and then it’s like, ‘Wait a second, this was crappy. Maybe I don’t want this person back.’ It is just trying to really encapsulate what it is to go through that kind of blindsiding heartbreak in real time.”

In addition to the catchy — and relatable — lyrics, Ash also surprised Us with onscreen cameos from Ben Feldman, Nico Santos, Colton Dunn, Nichole Sakura, Mark McKinney, Kaliko Kauahi and Jon Barinholtz.

“I actually got those clips from them a while ago for a different part of my music project, which didn’t end up happening,” Ash recalled. “But I was very lucky that there was definitely stuff that I could use. I was very lucky and very humbled that my dear friends that are all featured in the video were very keen to make a video roasting me. I’m very lucky there’s so many amazing lifelong friendships that were made on that show.”

Celebrities Who Became BFFs With Their Costars

Ash rose to stardom playing Dina on the NBC sitcom, which followed employees at a fictional big-box chain store. Her love for music, however, is something Ash has explored more recently after writing songs for years prior.

“Music has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve written songs since I was 13 when I got my first guitar — and even while shooting superstore. I would come home at the end of the day and unwind by playing my guitar and writing songs,” she recalled. “Prior to 2023, I just wasn’t really playing them for anybody. But there’s something really powerful about communicating and expressing yourself through art. music is way, way more vulnerable in some ways than acting is for me.”

She added: “That idea of communicating something that’s so real to you and vulnerable and raw was a completely different thing. I really love connecting to that different part of me and expressing it to people. The live performance of my music is the most fun. When you act on TV, it’s an amazing and wonderful experience, but there’s no feedback. But with music, it is this exchange of energy. People are singing and dancing along with you. It’s like a shared experience, which is what really kind of sets it apart for me from acting.”

Celebrities Share Their Favorite Karaoke Songs

Ash is still focused on exploring both career paths, though.

“I learned something with every song that I put out,” she explained. “I started doing music and then there was kind of this perception that I quit acting. I was like, ‘Why can’t I have it all?’ I’m hosting a new baking show in Canada right now and I’ve got lots of things on the go. I’m just somebody who doesn’t really like any downtime. I like a project, and music has kind of always been a part of my life. This is just the first time that I’ve been exploring that publicly. There’s 24 hours in a day though and I’m going to use each and every one of them.”

British Soccer Star Joe Thompson Dead at 36 After Cancer Battle

British soccer player Joe Thompson has died after multiple battles with cancer. He was 36.

“The words I thought I would never have to write. … Our brave and courageous Joey passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning,” Joe’s wife, Chantelle Thompson, wrote via Instagram one day later on Friday, April 18. “He was at home where he wanted to be in a beautiful, peaceful setting, surrounded by his family, when he transitioned.”

Joe, who previously played professional soccer with Rochdale AFC as a midfielder, was diagnosed with stage IV lymphoma in April 2024. He previously battled cancer in 2013 and 2017.

“Joe has made such an impact on so many people and we are all forever grateful for him blessing us with his presence and for being so strong and staying with us as long as he did against all the odds,” Chantelle, who shared two children with Joe, continued in her Friday statement. “He was the most incredible husband, son, brother, friend and father to our beautiful daughters who will now carry his light and legacy on and I will continue to keep filling them up with Joe’s love every single day.”

According to Chantelle, Joe never gave up throughout his “long battle” with cancer.

“It’s been a long battle, and one that he fought with all his might and he did things HIS way,” she recalled. “He chose his path and walked every step with courage and pride, growing closer and closer to God each day whilst still being there for so many others. He held on to his plans for the future to continue that legacy, but it’s now time for him to rest up and watch over us from heaven.”

Chantelle also expressed hopes that her husband’s “legacy and impact [will] live on.”

“I know he will be deeply missed by everyone, and the world will not be the same without his contagious energy,” she stated. “Joe wanted an open funeral so everyone who feels that Joe in any way made an impact on their life’s and wishes to attend can do so. Once we know more around dates etc, we will be sharing that on his socials.”

Most Shocking Celebrity Deaths of All Time

She continued, “Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey with us. We are all forever grateful.”

Before his death, Joe was candid about his health battles, crediting Chantelle and daughters Thailula and Athena Rae for their unwavering support.

“They are everything,” Joe told broadcaster Zarah Connolly in an April 2024 sit-down after his last diagnosis. “They are why I wake up. Going through what I have been through, I know how important they are, and I also know how tough it is for those guys. I often say the one that is there next to you is probably the one that is suffering the most because they are seeing you. They are witnessing you go through certain things.”

'9-1-1' Cast and Fans React to Season 8's Major Character Death

The cast of 9-1-1 are just as devastated about that major character’s death as fans are.

The second half of the ABC series’ two-part 9-1-1: Contagion event on Thursday, April 17, ended with the shocking death of the 118’s leader, Captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause). While trapped in a lab with a dangerous virus, Bobby hides the fact that he got infected in order to give Chimney (Kenneth Choi) the only antidote. He managed to share emotional goodbyes with his wife, Athena (Angela Bassett) and colleague Buck (Oliver Stark), but he ultimately succumbed to the disease.

Showrunner Tim Minear confirmed the character’s death is a permanent one but revealed in a Thursday interview with Variety that the episode “is not Peter Krause’s final appearance this season.” Krause, for his part, said goodbye to Bobby with a heartfelt letter to fans published by Deadline on Thursday.

“In October 2017, through him, we began tackling topics such as grief, guilt, anger and addiction while exploring his relationship with a higher power, forgiveness and grace,” he said. “On his path of healing, we watched him join and embrace both his new family at the firehouse and his new family with Athena Grant where he found love and acceptance. We also had plenty of fun along the way. It was a joy.”

Fans shared their strong reactions to the storyline via social media, with one X user writing, “The 118 will never be the same 💔.” Another fan called Bobby and Athena “one of the best tv couples,” adding, “They have the best chemistry, best love story— they’re literally everyone’s “weekly mom and dad”; how can you just ruin something so beautiful?”

One user questioned how Bobby’s death will affect the show’s upcoming ninth season. “I know #911onABC got renewed for another season but they can keep that … what’s 911 without Bobby Nash??” the wrote via X.

Scroll down to see what the cast of 9-1-1 have said about Bobby’s untimely death:

While Krause understands the fan upset, he noted in his Deadline letter that the “bold creative choice” represents how “first responders risk their lives on the job so that others can see another day.” He added, “[Bobby’s] arc honors them. We at 9-1-1 salute all the incredible men and women who do these dangerous jobs and strive to keep us safe.”

Krause went on to thank the show’s cast and crew. “I will miss all my 9-1-1 family. Our incredible crew whose professional excellence is second to none,” he wrote. “All the writers who keep pulling rabbits out of hats. All the directors tasked with the same. All the incredible guest cast over the years as well as Jennifer Love Hewitt and the cast in the call center.”

He continued, “I will miss my partner, Angela Bassett. Her strength and her sweetness, and us holding hands. We parted ways too soon. Much love. Tim Minear and Brad Buecker, you’ve been my pillars and are two of the best in the business. I will miss you both. Finally, I will miss my beloved and unruly children of the 118. Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Oliver Stark, Ryan Guzman and Anirudh Pisharody: this is a tough goodbye. Stay unruly, but be professional and get the job done. Misfit heroes need each other. That’s how we do it at our firehouse. Pass it along to the next new guy.”

And I will miss everybody dearly,” he shared. “This was my workplace, for eight years, eight seasons. And I am really going to miss everybody: Angela and the fire team and the crew.”

He also gushed about his on-screen marriage with Bassett, stating, “I won’t have a relationship like that again on TV. It’s been a fantastic eight years. I’m going to miss her a lot.”
