Jana Kramer Defends Husband Allan Russell's Masturbating Comments
Jana Kramer is standing by husband Allan Russell after he got vulnerable on her podcast.
“The episode was about sex. It was a sex episode with a doctor who specializes in intimacy, in sexual relationships,” Kramer, 41, shared on the Wednesday, July 16, episode of iHeartRadio’s “Whine Down” podcast. “It’s not like he just randomly was like, ‘I don’t masturbate.’ We were having a conversation.”
Last week, Russell, 44, made headlines after he said, “There’s no point where I actually feel like masturbating.” Instead, the English soccer coach chooses to prioritize his marriage and “healthy sex life” with Kramer.
“Everyone just sees the headline but doesn’t really know where it came from or the story behind it,” Kramer explained. “But devil’s advocate: He did share that but it was a topic of conversation because I asked how many couples would be upset if their partner masturbated.”

For the record, Kramer said she wouldn’t care if Russell masturbated during their marriage.

“I don’t like porn because it triggers from the past,” she said. “I don’t hate that he doesn’t [masturbate] but I wouldn’t be mad at him [if he did.]”
While addressing the headlines on her latest podcast episode, Kramer said she discussed all the attention with Russell. — but he was completely unbothered by all the chatter.
“He was so lovely about it,” she said. “He goes, ‘To be honest, it could have read Jana Kramer’s husband can’t stop masturbating. I see it as respectful, honoring my wife.’ I was like, ‘I love your answer to that.’ He did not care for a second and took it as a, ‘I’m a man who honors his wife.’”

Ever since she launched her “Whine Down” podcast with iHeartRadio in 2018, Kramer has developed a following for getting candid and honest about her relationships, career and life.
Although some episodes cause some unexpected headlines, the “I Got the Boy” singer tries to see the positive in every attention-grabbing moment.
“There are so many things that we’ve shared in efforts to help other people normalize conversations and most DMS that I get are ‘Thank you so much for talking about this. I was able to have a great conversation with my husband,’” Kramer said. “We’re normalizing things. We’re talking about things. We’re starting conversations. But the s**** part of it is that it does become a headline and then it’s like, ‘Oh my god, these people!’”
