Katy Perry Powers Through Mid-Air Prop Malfunction During 'Lifetimes' Show

Katy Perry didn’t let a prop malfunction stop her from performing her Lifetimes Tour concert on Friday, July 18.

Perry, 40, belted “Roar” atop a flying butterfly prop during her concert at San Francisco’s Chase Center, per social media footage. As Perry held onto the reins, the wiring abruptly shifted and caused the entire unit to fall a few feet lower.

Perry briefly stopped singing as she tried to regain her balance. Once the prop leveled out, Perry continued belting, “And you’re gonna hear me roar.”

After the show, the pop star joked about the unexpected malfunction.

Katy Perry Seemingly Addresses Emotional State Amid Orlando Bloom Split

“Goodnight San Fran,” she wrote via her Instagram Stories earlier on Saturday, July 19, sharing a blurry photo of her startled face when the butterfly first started falling.

Perry kicked off her Lifetimes Tour earlier this year, ultimately bringing the shows to her California hometown this month.

“HOMETOWN SHOW AT THE FORUM TONIGHT,” Perry quipped via Instagram on Tuesday, July 15. “Ecstatic to play a show for ALL the Angelenos including my best friends, my business partners, mom, dad, my ear nose and throat doctor, my dog groomer, my MDMA therapist, my acupuncturist, my manicurist, the teacher from the yoga class I went to in 2015, the uber eats guy that that delivered my brisket breakfast burrito this morning from Dialog Cafe and all the friends that are friends with someone that knows Tamra. LFG. I ❤ LA.”

Perry also has the support of her 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, who’s been traveling the globe with her mom. Perry shares her only child with ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom. Us Weekly broke the news last month that Perry and Bloom, 48, broke up after nearly a decade together.

“Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” a source exclusively told Us in June. “It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is, of course, upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”

Reps for Perry, who was previously married to Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012, and Bloom subsequently reiterated in a statement that the breakup was amicable.

“Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting,” a statement shared with Us read. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”

Bloom also shares son Flynn, 14, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

Gwyneth Paltrow Was 'Sad' About Ex Brad Pitt Marrying Jennifer Aniston

Gwyneth Paltrow is just like Us in at least one respect: she has complicated feelings about an ex — and, in her case, that ex is Brad Pitt.

Paltrow, now 52, and Pitt, now 61, began dating after working together on David Fincher‘s horror classic Se7en in 1994, got engaged in 1996 and split in 1997. As revealed in Amy Odell‘s upcoming Gwyneth: The Biography, Paltrow, had a mournful reaction to Pitt’s 1999 much-covered wedding to fellow A-lister Jennifer Aniston — not that she shared it with the public.

As Odell writes, Paltrow got snappy during a September 2000 interview at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of Duets (starring Gwyneth and directed by her later father, Bruce Paltrow), calling a reporter “very gossipy” for a question about another ex, Ben Affleck. Things didn’t improve from there, as revealed in this book excerpt exclusive to Us Weekly:

The reporter then asked how she felt about Brad Pitt marrying Jennifer Aniston [in July of that year]. “Are you really asking me this question?” Gwyneth replied, her eyes now “daggers.” “I can’t comment on this kind of thing.” In reality, Gwyneth confided to friends that she’d felt sad when she learned they were getting married. (She was also fond of telling them that Brad “has terrible taste in women.”)

Gwyneth Paltrow Compares Brad Pitt Romance to Dating Prince William

As most readers of Us likely recall, Pitt and Aniston got engaged in November 1999 and wed in Malibu on July 29, 2000 — ultimately divorcing five years later, in October 2005, as Pitt’s romance with his Mr. and Mrs. Smith costar Angelina Jolie heated up.

That same year, during a business meeting with Aerin Lauder — a fellow Manhattan socialite and part of the Estee Lauder cosmetics dynasty which would sign Paltrow as the face of its Pleasures fragrance — she couldn’t resist taking a shot, Odell writes:

At one dinner, the two were talking about Brad Pitt. According to someone familiar with the discussion, Gwyneth allegedly told her, “He’s dumber than a sack of s–t.”

“He was brought up very religious, in Missouri,” Odell told People of the stark contrast between Paltrow and Pitt. “It’s just a very different world from hers, growing up in Manhattan, going to [elite private school] Spence, I think she thought he wasn’t sophisticated enough for her. She thought she was smarter, better educated, more sophisticated.”

Regardless, Pitt had the stamp of approval from Paltrow’s family. “Her dad [Bruce Paltrow] loved Brad,” Odell told People. “Her friends loved Brad. They thought he was the nicest guy.”

Gwyneth Paltrow's Dating History: Brad Pitt, Chris Martin and More

In a 2023 appearance on “Call Her Daddy,” Paltrow said she was “totally heartbroken” after their 1997 split.

“It was the right thing at that time, but it was really hard,” Paltrow explained. “There were a number of things that had happened, he was nine years older than me — he knew what he wanted, he was ready to do it and I was kind of all over the place.”

Paltrow eventually wed Coldplay’s Chris Martin in 2003, and they welcomed kids Apple and Moses. Following their famous conscious uncoupling (read: divorce) in 2016, Paltrow finally found her Brad: TV writer and producer Brad Falchuk, her husband since 2018.

Southern Hospitality's Will Confirms Exit Ahead of Season 4: 'Life Lesson'

Will Kulp will not be returning for Southern Hospitality season 4.

“The new season has started filming, and unsurprisingly, I will not be a part of it this year,” Will, 30, wrote via his Instagram Stories on Friday, July 18. “I will likely never film a second of reality TV ever again. It has been a horrible experience and a life lesson.”

He continued, “A big thanks to some cast, some production, Andy Cohen and ALL of the crew for the seasons past. You know who you are. Your kindness and professionalism are rare occurrences in the industry.”

Will had been a main cast member on Southern Hospitality since 2022’s season 1. The show itself is a spinoff of Southern Charm, following star Leva Bonaparte and the employees at her Republic Garden & Lounge establishment in Charleston.

Southern Hospitality’s Emmy Sharrett and Will Kulp’s Relationship Timeline

“Best of luck to this new season,” Will continued on Friday. “I hope it can be entertaining without a defamatory story line or unwanted use of my name, image and likeness.”

Throughout the second and third seasons of Southern Hospitality, Will and now-fiancée Emmy Sharrett faced accusations of infidelity.

“I do not believe Will cheated on me at all for one second,” Emmy, 27, exclusively told Us Weekly in January. “Will and I had our own conversation about it where he was incredibly apologetic and embarrassed, and he knew it was inappropriate.”

Will also fervently denied the claims that he cheated on Emmy, though he did take responsibility for speaking negatively about her to their Republic colleagues. Amidst the onscreen drama, Will opted to skip the season 3 reunion.

“I think that I have probably ruffled some feathers by not going to the reunion,” Will recalled on the “Viall Files” podcast in March, noting that he wasn’t sure whether he’d sign on for season 4 of the Bravo hit. “It’s difficult for me. I think the clearest thing for me is that I’ll always support Emmy and her position on the show.”

Southern Hospitality’s Emmy Sharrett and Will Kulp Are Engaged After 3 Years

Will further explained that he skipped the reunion because it felt like he would “have to dig [himself] out from under a mountain” to explain his actions.

“The ways that I would address it would need a longform segment just to try to break down all the nuances. On top of that, the people on the stage I knew are just very interested in whether or not they are making it to the next season and are sort of willing to say or do whatever. It was just going to be a bloodbath,” Will told podcast host Nick Viall. “It wasn’t like I could come on here and explain to you guys, ‘Hey, this is what happened,’ and we could have an engaging conversation. It would have been sort of two-steps forward, one-step back, two-steps forward, one-step back.”

No matter what, Will plans to support Emmy in her return to Southern Hospitality.

“I am happy to be moving on,” he concluded on Friday. “I will be cheering Emmy on from the sidelines with the rest of you.”

How To Get an A-List Smile on a Budget, According to a Celebrity Dentist

There’s never a bad time to brighten up your pearly whites, and lucky for Us, Dr. Michael Apa shared his best oral care hacks that will have you smiling like you just stepped off a private jet — even if you haven’t left the house.

Call him the real-life tooth fairy: Apa has an impressive roster of A-list clientele, from Jennifer Lopez to Kylie and Kendall Jenner, and he has four state-of-the-art Apa Aesthetic offices in New York, L.A., Dubai and Miami. Since 2004, the renowned dentist — who specializes in minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry — has gained recognition for his natural-looking smile makeovers over the years. And although his process begins at $50,000, he does have wallet-friendly tips for those who can’t book an appointment IRL.

Scroll on to see the easy-to-follow rules (plus, some surprising myths!), including the foods to eat for stronger, whiter teeth to the trendy toothpaste you might want to avoid:

Choose the Right Whitening Kit

“[It’s] a quick, simple solution for a more appealing smile,” Apa tells Us. While in-office treatments are “typically stronger,” you can still brighten your pearly whites on your own. Make sure hydrogen peroxide — or carbamide peroxide, for those prone to sensitivity — is on the label. The pro recommends applying the product to “freshly brushed teeth” and, if possible, scheduling a professional cleaning one to two months before using your kit. We like Crest’s 3D Whitestrips Professional Effects.

Your Post-Brightening Routine Matters

What you consume in the 48 hours following tooth whitening does determine the overall results. “Avoid food and drinks that would stain a white T-shirt,” Apa notes. Think: red wine, coffee, chocolate and berries. Fruits that are low in acidity and light in color (like bananas and pears) are safe options, along with nutritious bites like egg whites, potatoes and yogurt, to name a few.

Eat Specific Foods on a Daily Basis

“An apple a day keeps the dentist away,” Apa preaches, adding that “biting into roughage and textured foods can help remove debris in between brushing and flossing.”

Don’t Be Fooled by Activated Charcoal

“Natural isn’t always better,” Apa shares. “So many products are marketed by marketers — look for products that are [promoted] by industry professionals.” Activated charcoal is one example. Despite being a “highly marketed product in the health and beauty space,” Apa says to avoid it. “It’s abrasive, so while [it claims to remove stains], it may also be removing enamel.”

Or Apple Cider Vinegar

The popular pantry staple is also a no-go. “[It’s] highly acidic and can lead to tooth erosion,” Apa says. “I strongly suggest avoiding any whitening product that’s effective as a stain remover only because it is breaking down the top layer of your teeth.”

Choose Your Toothpaste Wisely

No matter how badly you want to order that purple toothpaste you saw on Insta, don’t give in. “Your toothpaste should have either fluoride or hydroxyapatite, which work to remineralize the tooth after exposure to acidic or abrasive foods,” he explains. “If you have sensitive teeth, calcium hydroxide is important, too. Abrasive toothpastes can wear away enamel. Look for a formula with a low RDA [Relative Dentin Abrasion] value.” Try the Apa White Toothpaste!

Don’t Shy Away From Night Guards

Sure, you may feel dorky in the moment, but Apa highlights the important role they play in the effects of stress, “a trigger for clenching and grinding — behaviors that can cause swollen gums, tooth loss and everything in between,” he points out. Apa also notes that a hard night guard (versus a soft one) may be the better option as it’s more durable.

Use a Sonic Toothbrush

“It makes a difference,” he says of the oral care gadget, which is more effective at removing plaque compared to a standard toothbrush due to its motorized brush head. Pictured here: Apa Clean Sonic Toothbrush.

Celebrities Who’ve Named Their Kids ‘Ocean’: Lala Kent and More

Celebrities are making waves with their latest baby name choice.

From Amber Heard to Taylor Frankie Paul, famous moms — and dads — have decided to give their children a unique moniker: Ocean. The gender-neutral name has been rising in popularity over the years, with Nameberry reporting that it was given to 483 boys and 325 girls in 2024.

Spy Kids alum Alexa PenaVega decided to name her son Ocean King due to its “beautiful biblical meaning.”

“God called the dry ground ‘land’ and the water the ‘seas.’ And God saw that it was good. That is why we went with Ocean,” she wrote in an August 2016 Instagram post.

Below, see other celebrities who’ve named their children Ocean:

Lala Kent

The Vanderpump Rules star named her first daughter Ocean in March 2021. Kent shares Ocean with ex-fiancé Randall Emmett.

“We were in the Bahamas three years ago, I walked past this yacht and it was called the Ocean Alexander, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, the name Ocean, it has to be my baby’s name,'” she told Entertainment Tonight in May 2021. “We knew that we were going to name our first baby — whether it was a boy or a girl — Ocean.”

Lala welcomed her second daughter, Sosa, as a single mom in September 2024. Sosa actually means “saltwater” in Portuguese.

Alexa and Carlos PenaVega

The couple named their first child, a son, Ocean King in 2016.

Alexa shared via Instagram in August of that year, “(For those asking about our name choice… 🙂 -God called the dry ground ‘land’ and the water the ‘seas.’ And God saw that it was good. — That is why we went with Ocean. And he is a son of the one true ‘King.’ For us it has a beautiful biblical meaning. 🌊👑.”

Alexa and Carlos also share son Kingston and daughter Rio, born in 2019 and 2021, respectively. They sadly experienced the stillbirth of their daughter Indy in April 2024.

Amber Heard

Heard welcomed twins in 2025 — son Ocean and daughter Agnes — who joined their big sister, Oonagh Paige, who was born in 2021.

Jesy Nelson

The Little Mix alum shared via Instagram in May 2025 that she welcomed twin daughters with boyfriend Zion Foster.

“We’ve never felt more in love 🥹 Everybody meet Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster Born on 15.05.2025 🌊📖,” she shared.

Bonnie Wright

The actress, known for playing Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films, has a son named Elio Ocean, born in September 2023, with husband Andrew Lococo.

She is an environmental activist, which might explain the name choice. (The name Elio also primarily means sun or sunshine.)

Ashlyn Harris

The soccer star shares daughter Sloane, born in 2021, and son Ocean, born in 2022, with ex-wife Ali Krieger.

“We are incredibly thankful and excited for this new chapter as we parent 2 under 2. Let the sleepless nights rage on @alikrieger … I wouldn’t want it any other way,” Harris shared via Instagram at the time of Ocean’s adoption. “Ocean Maeve Krieger-Harris, welcome to the family baby boy. Your Moms and big sister love you very much.🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊.”

Forest Whitaker

The Oscar winner welcomed his first child and only son, Ocean, in 1990 with a previous partner.

In 1996, Whitaker married his now late ex-wife Keisha Nash and the two welcomed daughters Sonnet and True in 1996 and 1998, respectively. Nash also had a daughter, Autumn, from a previous relationship, whom Whitaker helped raise.

Taylor Frankie Paul

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star shares two children with her ex-husband, Tate Paul — daughter Indy, born in 2017, and son Ocean, born in 2020.

“The names I love are just not for everyone. I feel like they’re kinda unique,” Taylor shared in a 2023 TikTok video.

Taylor and her then-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, welcomed son Ever True in 2024, but have since split.

Desi Perkins

The makeup artist and influencer welcomed her son, Ocean, in October 2020 with husband Steven Perkins.

When it came to naming her son, she didn’t ever consider Ocean as a name but it came to her one day and stuck in her mind.

“Even when I was saying it, I wasn’t sure of that name,” Perkins said in a YouTube video following his birth. “But, Steven loved it, like, instantly. I didn’t even know it was a name.”

Desi and Steven welcomed a daughter, Harley, in August 2022.

Jeff Goldblum

The Jurassic Park alum shares son Charlie Ocean with his wife, rhythmic gymnast Emilie Goldblum. In a 2016 interview with Parade, Jeff explained that Charlie’s middle name was inspired by his and Emilie’s love of the beach.

In April 2017, they welcomed their second son, River Joe.
