How Does Gwyneth Paltrow Feel About New Biography Focused on Her Life?
Gwyneth Paltrow “isn’t too bothered” by the upcoming book about her life, a source tells Us Weekly exclusively.
“Gwyneth’s been in the Hollywood game for a long time and so has a thick skin,” the insider continues. “This book isn’t a big deal for her.”
Author Amy Odell is set to release Gwyneth: The Biography on Tuesday, July 29, offering insight into Paltrow’s life from the early days of her career to behind-the-scenes details on how she became an A-list star.
“She didn’t participate in the book like Anna Wintour did with the author’s last book,” the same source says about Paltrow, referring to Odell’s 2022 book Anna: The Biography.
Gwyneth Paltrow Through the Years
Odell’s book doesn’t hit shelves for a few more weeks, but People started rolling out excerpts from the biography on Wednesday, July 16. Portions of the book highlighted for the magazine start with Paltrow’s time at a Manhattan private school.
“She had strangely potent charisma, and other Spence girls — even seniors — wanted to invest in knowing this new middle schooler,” the book reads. “But other students seemed to feel threatened. One classmate recalled, ‘Not one person had a doubt that she was going to be famous.’”
Both of her past romances with Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck are showcased as the book runs through the early days of her career, as is a rumored feud with Winona Ryder over Paltrow’s Oscar-winning Shakespeare in Love role.
Paltrow allegedly passed on the 1998 film role, with the book claiming that she actually suggested Ryder for the part of Viola de Lesseps. It’s been rumored for years that Paltrow ultimately took the role back from Ryder.
“After a story about Gwyneth allegedly stealing the script from Winona’s coffee table reached the media, Gwyneth told friends that Ryder had started the rumor, and insisted she’d received the script through her agent,” Odell’s book reads. (Paltrow denied the feud in a 2015 interview.)
Gwyneth Paltrow's Dating History: Brad Pitt, Chris Martin and More
Paltrow’s past marriage to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is also discussed throughout the book. The former couple were married from 2003 to 2016 and share two kids: Apple, 21, and Moses, 19. Paltrow has since moved on, marrying producer Brad Falchuk in 2018.
Along with her personal life and acting career, Odell’s book also addresses the Goop of it all. Paltrow launched the wellness brand as a weekly newsletter in 2008, and it’s since become an empire.
“Gwyneth was committed to covering products and experiences that translated her own tastes for her audience — however bizarre or inaccessible they might be,” Odell writes.

Love Island USA’s Cashel Hit With Protective Order Over Alleged Abuse
Love Island USA star Cashel Barnett was ordered not to contact his ex-girlfriend, who accused him of sexually assaulting her, Us Weekly can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by Us, Barnett, 34, who remains locked up in a Utah jail, was ordered not to harass or threaten his ex and mother of his 15-month-old child.
The order instructed Barnett not to contact his ex via email, telephone or social media. The judge said the order will remain in effect until further order of the court. A source close to the case told Us the protective order was “procedural.”
As Us previously reported, on June 24, the State of Utah filed three felony charges against Barnett: two charges of aggravated assault (one a 1st degree felony and the other a 3rd degree felony) and domestic violence in the presence of a child.
Teen Mom’s Bar Smith Arrested on Kidnapping and Harassment Charges
“Mr. Barnett is presumed innocent, strongly denies any wrongdoing, and looks forward to his day in court,” Barnett’s attorney Andrew K. Deesing told People. “We’re in the very early stages of this, so we don’t have any further comment at this time.”
Barnett was hit with the new charges while he was locked up in a Utah jail, where he had been since May due to an alleged assault on his ex-girlfriend.

In court documents, over the felony charges, it was revealed that police were called to investigate a report of sexual assault.
Barnett’s ex claimed they had been in an argument in November 2024 “when she requested that he get a job to help pay for their daughter.” She said as a form of punishment he withheld sex, kissing and hand-holding from her. She said she had been withholding sex from him.
The court documents said Barnett told the alleged victim he was a “house slave” and that she was “ruining his dream.” His ex claimed that when “[Barnett] abused her, he told her it was her fault.”
Teen Mom’s Ashley Jones Shares New Details About Bar Smith’s Arrest
The argument erupted on a date in December 2024. Barnett started kissing her and putting his hands down her pants. She claimed when she kissed him back, he pushed her off the couch and told her not to get up because she was in “trouble.”
The report said the alleged victim got up and walked to the bedroom, but “Barnett grabbed both her hands from behind her, demonstrated the handcuff position, then picked her up and did a ‘swoop onto the couch.’”
The alleged victim said Barnett pulled his pants down and screamed at her, ‘Is this what you f***ing want?’ and ‘Are you f***ing happy now?’” She said she couldn’t breathe and lost consciousness. She said she believed she lost consciousness for one minute when Barnett “sat her up, slapped her across the face really hard and just kept going.”

The alleged victim told police that she remembered waking up to Barnett slapping her and “felt like she was still kind of limp for a minute.” She said Barnett was sexually assaulting her. She claimed he stopped when she grabbed their child.
The prosecutors wrote, “The victim reported that on the date of the sexual assault, she attempted to walk away from the defendant, however he grabbed her from behind, pushed her head into the couch, causing her to lose consciousness, then raped her ‘violently.’ [Barnett] then ‘sat her up’, ‘slapped her’ and strangled her again, while their minor daughter was in the room crying and yelling.”
In court documents, it was also revealed that Barnett’s ex accused him of strangling her in front of their kid on April 10, 2025. She claimed as she was about to lose consciousness, he slapped her “so hard across the face” and then told her, “You’re fine.”

“The defendant is unemployed and the victim believes [Barnett] tried to kill her,” prosecutors said. They asked that Barnett be held without bond due to fears for the alleged victim’s safety.
Court documents obtained by Us show the alleged victim filed a separate case pleading for temporary custody of the kids.
Cashel appeared on season 1 of Love Island USA.
As Us previously reported, another Love Island USA cast member was involved in a scandal of her own his month over an alleged slur.

Madelyn Cline Says 'Outer Banks' Feels 'Strange' After Rudy Pankow's Exit
Madelyn Cline teased the shift on the Outer Banks set as the cast continues to film the fifth and final season without Rudy Pankow.
“There’s a part of the dynamic that isn’t there anymore,” Cline, 27, told Extra TV on Monday, July 14, about the hit Netflix series. “But also, you know, we’re all just happy to be there.”
Cline acknowledged that it was “definitely strange” not having Pankow, 27, around “because we shot four seasons with him.”
“The camaraderie, the chemistry is all amazing,” she said about filming season 5. “I don’t think we take a single second of it for granted. I cry at least two times a week. Happy tears.”
Rudy Pankow Unfollows Madison Bailey After Shocking 'Outer Banks' Exit
Cline concluded: “It’s the end of a big, big chapter of my life. But yes, it’s bittersweet, it’s emotional, and we’re all really, really happy to be back.”
Outer Banks, which debuted in 2020, follows the conflict between two groups of teenagers in a coastal North Carolina town. The social divide is introduced with the wealthy residents (a.k.a. the Kooks) and the working class (the Pogues).
Season 5 is currently filming and is expected to follow the aftermath of JJ’s shocking death. The show originally received backlash when Pankow’s departure was confirmed despite the writing team claiming it was always the plan to kill off the fan-favorite character.
“It’s been kind of lurking in his DNA from the beginning. He’s really a tragic figure, and the idea of mortality, and you only have a finite window — it’s also a theme of the show,” executive producer Jonas Pate told The Hollywood Reporter in November 2024. “It’s something John B. has talked about from the first season. So believe it or not, this is something that was always sort of baked in the cake, and we just wanted to tell the story as elegantly and interestingly as possible.”
After JJ’s onscreen death, the show’s creators explained their decision to kill off a Pogue.
“The overarching plan was to begin with just some kids who wanted to have a good time all the time, and take them on a whole journey,” Shannon Burke told Deadline in November 2024. “One of them was going to end up dying, and pretty early on, we knew that was going to be JJ, he’s the most reckless. He is also the most beloved and, in one way, the most sacrificing and the most risk-taking. And this was going to be JJ’s year.”
'Outer Banks' Promotes Several Cast Members for Season 5 After JJ's Death
He continued: “The kids, they’re getting older. We wanted to begin in a place of innocence and then go to a place that at least one point to go is really dark for them, and then have them come out of it. That’s the overarching plan for the show. It was always JJ that was going to be, we just weren’t sure how we were going to play it.”
Viewers subsequently started to question whether Pankow’s exit came as a result of a rumored rift between him and the cast, which includes John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), JJ (Pankow) and Cleo (Carlacia Grant). Pankow, for his part, has said that he thinks JJ’s death was meant to move the story along.
“When I first found out JJ was gonna risk it all and not make it, I understood it. And the risks got bigger and bigger, and the stakes got higher and higher,” he explained to Netflix’s Tudum that same month. “His death really does set up the future of OBX with the question, what is worth it? And when someone that close to you is gone, how do you navigate that?”
Outer Banks is currently streaming on Netflix.

Photos Show Home Where ‘American Idol’ Double Murder Occurred
New photos show the investigation unfolding at the house where American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca, were killed, days after their bodies were discovered on Monday, July 14.
Pictures obtained by Us Weekly show an aerial view of the Encino, California, home, with police cruisers stationed outside and red police tape surrounding the property.
The house appears to be surrounded by a white fence with trees lining the perimeter and front walkway. A pool and outdoor patio are also visible behind the two-story residence.
Police were first called to the 4700 block of White Oak Avenue in Encino on Monday for a welfare check after Kaye and Deluca, both 70, had not been heard from for “several days.” Authorities discovered their bodies with possible gunshot wounds upon entering the home, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.
'American Idol' Contestants Gone Too Soon: Show Alums Who Died
“While there were no signs of forced entry or trouble at the location during that investigation, it is now believed that the suspect had gained entry into the residence through an unlocked door,” read a statement from the LAPD released the next day. “The victims returned home while the suspect was inside their residence, and a confrontation ensued, which resulted in the suspect taking their lives.”

“The victims succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, and the suspect fled from the residence on foot,” the statement continued.
The LAPD confirmed on Wednesday that it had arrested a suspect, 22-year-old Encino resident Raymond Boodarian, in connection with the double murder. Lt. Guy Golan confirmed to CNN that the suspect was identified “using the surveillance video at the residence, as well as some other forensic evidence at the scene.”
Police were also called to the home four days earlier to investigate a possible burglary, but they believe this to be an isolated incident.
'American Idol' Winners: Where Are Fantasia Barrino and More Now?
“We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing,” an American Idol spokesperson told Us in a statement on Tuesday. “Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”
A veteran music supervisor, Kaye had been active in the industry since the 1990s and spent more than a decade working on American Idol.
“It’s one of those parts of the business that people don’t even know it exists,” she said in 2017 at the 7th Annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards. “It’s a very important part of films and TV. Pretty much everything in the entertainment industry has music in it and people just think that it’s there.”
Deluca, for his part, was also in the music industry, building his career as a solo artist. He began his career in Nashville before moving to Los Angeles in the 1990s and signing with Epic Records.

'Big Brother 27’ Cast Soaks Up the Sun in Annual Swimsuit Photo Shoot
The Big Brother 27 cast took to the backyard for the legendary swimsuit photoshoot.
All 17 houseguests soaked up the sun as they posed in their swimwear in Us Weekly’s exclusive first look. The women dazzled in a variety of beach-ready styles, from bikinis to one-pieces. The guys rocked board shorts, with some opting to cover up while others went shirtless.
Big Brother icon Rachel Reilly brought the fire as she stunned in a red ruffled one-piece. She completed the look with a pair of shades. While Reilly, 40, is a Have Not during the first week, she was granted safety from eviction. Cliffton “Will” Williams, Zach Cornell and Ava Pearl were also named Have Nots but also received immunity.
Will, 50, kept it laid back as he opted for a black polo and shades. Zach, 27, was all smiles in his salmon shorts and sunglasses. Ava, 24, brought the good vibes as she stunned in a red long-sleeved one-piece with cutouts. The aura painter completed the look with a floppy sun hat with a sunflower in its brim.
New ‘Big Brother’ Cast Shares Their Strengths Ahead of Season 27 Premiere
Head of Household (HOH) Vince Panaro wore striped shorts and a brown beanie. He went sans shirt to show off his tatted arm. Vince’s nominees — Amy Bingham, Ashley Hollis and Isaiah “Zae” Frederich — were in good spirits as they were all smiles for the camera.
Amy, who successfully entered the game after being undetected as The Mastermind’s accomplice, wore a red halter swimsuit top paired with a black sarong. Zae, 23, donned blue swim shorts, sunglasses and slides. (The salesperson made headlines earlier this week after he used a slur on the live feeds but immediately backtracked his comment.)
While Ashley, 25, has been under fire all week after taking a two-hour-long shower in the HOH room, she brought the heat with her swimwear photo. The attorney wore a magenta bikini and a multicolor sarong. She gave a sweet smile as she posed on a lounge chair.

The nominees not only have the Power of Veto in play but also the BB Blockbuster, this season’s version of the AI Arena from last year. On eviction night, the three nominees will compete in a live competition to be removed from the block.
Big Brother continues on CBS tonight with a 90-minute episode starting at 8 p.m. ET. Fans can watch live feeds from the house anytime on Paramount+.

Love Island USA’s Pepe and Iris Want to Talk to Their Exes After the Villa
Love Island USA’s Iris Kendall and Jose “Pepe” Garcia-Gonzalez haven’t forgotten about the other connections they made in Fiji.
Days after the season 7 finale of Peacock’s addictive reality show aired, the couple said they have plans to connect with their exes, Thomas John “TJ” Palma and Hannah Fields, respectively.
“I do want to have a conversation with TJ,” Iris, 25, exclusively shared with Us Weekly on Tuesday, July 15. “I feel like I definitely owe him an explanation for everything that has happened. It’s definitely different in the villa than the outside world. It was definitely a lot.”
While Iris admitted that she hasn’t really seen much of what TJ, 23, has been posting online since he left the villa, “I definitely want to give him that conversation, for sure.”
Love Island USA’s Hannah Reveals Islanders Code Word for Talking About Sex
While the twosome hadn’t talked at length as of this interview, TMZ posted a video of Iris and TJ seeing each other for the first time in Los Angeles on Monday, July 14. In the clip, the pair shared a hug and seemingly appeared to be smiling as they caught up. They were also greeted by costar Austin Shepard.
“Looking back, I think it has been a long time coming,” TJ previously told Us of Iris and Pepe’s connection. “They both came in together and they’ve had a lot of shared experiences and they really know each other well. If she was gonna get to know anyone, it would probably be him. I’m not mad about it.”

When it comes to Pepe’s connection with Hannah, 23, the professional trainer, 27, said he wants to connect with the woman he was initially coupled up with when he entered the villa on day nine.
“I definitely want to give her a call at some point,” he told Us. “She said something very nice about … we all came in here as strangers and no matter what, we should leave as friends. I definitely wanna give her a call at some point, reach out and just see how she’s doing.”
Pepe acknowledged that Hannah and Iris are “pretty good friends,” and he wants to keep it that way.
“I just [want to] make sure that she knows that this isn’t, with Iris, it wasn’t just a spur of the moment thing,” he explained. “It’s something I’ve been feeling for a while. As bombshells, we couldn’t really do much about it. I’m thankful that I got the opportunity to do it now, even though it was towards the end. But yeah, I just wanna reach out and make sure that she’s doing all right.”

Both Iris and Pepe said they are grateful that both of their Love Island USA exes are handling things like “very mature people.”

Gwyneth Paltrow Was Open About Sex With Ben Affleck, According to New Book
An upcoming book about Gwyneth Paltrow offers new insight into her past relationship with Ben Affleck — including a possible NSFW confession.
Author Amy Odell writes in Gwyneth: The Biography that Paltrow, now 52, “spoke openly about how much she enjoyed their sex life,” according to an excerpt published by People on Wednesday, July 16. Paltrow apparently opened up to friend and celebrity makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin about a particular sex act with Affleck, now 52, but it was not specified.
“Her friends thought Ben was more of an intellectual match. But he had demons,” Odell claimed in the book. “Affleck was struggling with alcoholism and a gambling habit around the time he met Gwyneth.”
Affleck has been open about his alcohol struggles throughout his time in the public eye. (Us Weekly has reached out to Paltrow and Affleck’s teams for comment.)
Gwyneth Paltrow's Dating History: Brad Pitt, Chris Martin and More
“Her friends had reservations about him because he didn’t always reciprocate her affection. He at times seemed more interested in playing video games with the guys at his house than being with Gwyneth,” the book excerpt continues, comparing Affleck and his friends to famed HBO show Entourage. “Her friends felt like he did not appreciate her. She would be making dinner, and he would want to go out with the guys.”
“Their physical chemistry couldn’t overcome his self-destructive impulses,” Odell wrote about what led to Paltrow and Affleck’s split.
Paltrow and Affleck’s three-year on-and-off romance kicked off in 1997, just after she called off her engagement from Brad Pitt. Throughout their Hollywood relationship, the former couple starred in two movies together — 1998’s Shakespeare In Love and 2000’s Bounce. By the time the Bounce hit theaters, Paltrow and Affleck had split for good.
“I can tell you unequivocally that Gwyneth and I are not going out,” Affleck declared during an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2000. His adamant response came after paparazzi photos showing the pair hugging in Paris went public.

“We’re not a couple. We’re not an item. I do love her very much and I care about her enormously, as that picture indicates,” Affleck continued. “But I hug a lot of people this way. Whether or not people believe that is up to them.”
Over the years, Paltrow has continued to speak positively about her ex. The actress even called him “technically excellent” while discussing her sex life on “Call Her Daddy” in 2023. According to Paltrow, the Gone Girl star was “a good kisser.”
Gwyneth: The Biography will be released on July 29.
