Celebrity Chef Slams Meghan Markle’s New Netflix Show: ‘Painful to Watch’

Meghan Markle’s Netflix show has felt “forced and fake” from the beginning of its inception, says British chef Jameson Stocks.

Stocks, 41, recently claimed he was asked to consult on what he believed to be Markle’s show, With Love, Meghan, but turned down the offer as to not be “slammed” for his participation.

“I was asked last year by Netflix if I wanted to consult on a lifestyle program. They didn’t go into too much detail about who it was but I already kind of knew anyway,” Stocks told GB News, according to a video interview shared by the Daily Mail on Sunday, March 9. “I felt like even if she produced a really great program, which I was quite skeptical of, that I might get a little bit slammed for being a part of it.”

The Michelin-starred chef — whose website states he’s an executive producer of food shows and an Executive Chef consultant for numerous prominent companies — went on to say that he was worried about the possible public perception of the show, perhaps considering the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s exit from the royal family.

Us Weekly has reached out to Meghan’s team for comment on Stocks’ claims.

Meghan Markle’s Netflix Series Returning for 2nd Season This Fall

“I didn’t like the idea of me showing her how to do something and then it being forced and fake,” Stocks added of Meghan, 43, who married Prince Harry in 2018. (They share two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.)

“I imagine Netflix would have had two or three consultants — a stylist for her clothes, to give her ideas for the food. If she is going to do something herself, she should do something herself. Netflix is obviously such a huge company, they’re going to surround her with quality people to make her look good. At the end of the day, they’re trying to chase the money,” he added.

Stocks also claimed he watched With Love, and didn’t like it.

“I honestly thought it was terrible. Everything — the music is quite slow, it’s quite lethargic, it’s quite painful to watch. I think she should go back to acting,” he said, seemingly referencing her past role on Suits. “She’s quite a good actress. In real life or on screen. People should stick to what they do best.”

Those who actually worked on Meghan’s lifestyle series — which has already been renewed for a second season — feel quite differently.

In an interview with People, published on Saturday, March 8, With Love’s director Michael Steed said Meghan was “friendly” while filming and managed to create a “comfortable environment” on set.

Meanwhile, an unnamed member of the crew told the outlet that Meghan was “warm,” “approachable,” and “genuine.”

“She made sure everyone felt included, from Netflix executives to our director to every PA on set. No one was left out,” the crew member said.

Steed noted that the duchess is not a professional chef but a home cook — and was not trying to pretend to be anything else.

“Her cooking is pretty spot-on. She’s not a chef, and it’s definitely not meant to make it seem like she is, but there’s just a love of cooking that is palpable,” Steed said.

Was Meghan Markle’s Netflix Show Actually Filmed in Her Montecito Home?

“It feels as though we’re just spending time together, which is what it ended up being,” Meghan told People of the crew’s presence in the series. “I’d make a recipe and say, ‘Everyone try this,’ and there are certain dishes where you just watch everyone flock in. I’d say, ‘We’ve run out of spoons!’ It ended up feeling so communal, and that’s the spirit of the show.”

With Love featured Meghan cooking, creating and crafting for family and friends alike, including actresses Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer, as well as chef Roy Choi. Harry, 40, also made a brief appearance alongside Meghan’s mom, Doria.

The series’ second season has already been filmed and will premiere on the streamer this fall.

Amanda Seyfried Recalls 'Boobs Falling Out' in Front of Glen Powell

Amanda Seyfried has advice for anyone experiencing a wardrobe malfunction: make sure Glen Powell is involved.

In an interview with People published on Sunday, March 9, Seyfried said that she had a potentially mortifying experience at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards when “my boobs fell out of my dress.”

“I was wearing this amazing vintage dress. I made my stylist dress up in it before I went just for fun,” she told the publication (Seyfried was donning a Dior Haute Couture gown for the star-studded occasion).

The dress was “kind of sewn together,” she explained, but “started truly falling apart” during the event.,. Before she knew it, the gown was “literally falling off of me on the red carpet, and I think there were even interviews where I’m saying it’s breaking off,” the actress added.

As If! Amanda Seyfried Channels Her Inner Cher Horowitz in Plaid Set

Seyfried and Powell were in mid-conversation when the dress lost the plot completely. “I was talking to Glen Powell in the corner near my table, and we were joking around about something and I lifted my arms up, and my boobs were just out. My dress fell apart,” she said.

Luckily, Powell stepped in to save the day. “We both screamed, and like the gentleman he is, he covered me,” Seyfried continued. “He didn’t look… I think. None of us were expecting that, but that dress had truly just given up.”

Last week, Seyfried impressed viewers and the studio audience at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when she pulled out a dulcimer and played Joni Mitchell’s “California” in a nearly perfect rendition of the beloved song.

The wooden instrument is played across the lap and was first used in the Appalachians back in the 19t century, which makes Seyfried’s skill all the more impressive. “We always have a dulcimer here in case we have anyone that plays the dulcimer,” Fallon joked.

Seyfried’s performance prompted calls from fans for the actress to play Mitchell in a biopic. The Canadian-American singer-songwriter and painter rose to prominence in the 1960s and is considered one of the most influential artists of the time period. She has won 11 Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

While there’s no word on whether or not such a biopic is in the works, Seyfried has four projects on her slate: the TV series Long Bright River and movies The Housemaid, Ann Lee, and My Ex-Friend’s Wedding.

Long Bright River will debut on Peacock on March 13. The series is focused on the opioid crisis, something Seyfried told The Hollywood Reporter in a March 7 interview is “smart” because “why make TV if we’re not stepping in other people’s shoes?” She added, “You always just hope that people want to see it. I’m worried people don’t have Peacock.”

Emma Bunton Had Best Reaction to 'Arrest' at Sabrina Carpenter's Concert

It was only fitting for Sabrina Carpenter to celebrate one of London’s most iconic girl groups during her own concert in the British capital city.

Carpenter, 25, brought her Short ’n Sweet Tour to London’s O2 Arena on Saturday, March 8, choosing Emma Bunton — aka Spice Girls’ Baby Spice — to “arrest” during her rendition of “Juno.” (At each concert, Carpenter picks a different attendee to receive a pair of handcuffs based on one of the lyrics in the song.)

Bunton, 49, rocked a Baby-approved pink T-shirt with bedazzled jeans and pretended to be shocked when Carpenter proclaimed that she wanted to fake-arrest her.

“I feel like I might meet my soulmate,” Carpenter said during the performance, per social media footage. “And she might be right here. Oh my gosh. You’re kind of, like, spicing up my life a little bit. Wow, really spicing up my life [that] my clothes are falling off. Emma, will you do the honor of being mine forever?”

Sabrina Carpenter Responds to Criticism of Her ‘Short n’ Sweet Tour’ Costumes

She further mused that the handcuffs perfectly “match [Bunton’s] top.”

After Carpenter handed over the fuzzy cuffs, she also met Bunton backstage.

“Please, please, please arrest me for being a fan!!! @sabrinacarpenter you were amazing,” Bunton wrote via Instagram after the show ended, setting her upload to the pop star’s “Good Graces.”

After a sold-out run of shows across the United States, Carpenter kicked off the United Kingdom and European leg earlier this month.

“Growing up, those were the kinds of shows I would want to go to. Ones where I thought I knew what I was getting, but I got something completely different,” Carpenter told Vogue in February, referring to the sexualized undertones of her performances. “Short n’ Sweet is absolutely me. There’s no, like, alter ego. But it’s definitely a more emphasized version of me. It’s interesting because I’m able to dress in this way where you would kind of expect to hear, like, a voice from the ’60s. But then, when I’m speaking to the audience, I’m just myself.”

Taylor Swift Celebrates Sabrina Carpenter's 1st Grammy Win

In addition to fake arrests during “Juno,” the number also features Carpenter hitting a different sexual position every night.

“Well, initially I thought I’d just rotate between a couple, but I have this relationship with my fans where I know they want more from me,” she told the magazine. “I don’t want to let them down. So sometimes I go: ‘Oh, you know what? F— it. It’s Thursday. Let me give them a new one.’ And then it turned into: ‘I should look up the 500 positions on the internet.’”

She added, “There’s only so many I can do by myself, with a microphone in my hand, and in two and a half seconds. So, um, bless me for Europe. I don’t know what’s gonna happen. I just try to have fun in the moment. That’s where most of those ideas come from. It’s really just like: ‘I’m in Chicago. What’s Chicago gonna love?’ ”

Naya Rivera's Son Had Tears 'Welling Up' Watching 'Glee' Concert Movie

Naya Rivera’s son, Josey, had an emotional reaction to watching 2011’s Glee: The 3D Concert Movie several years after her tragic death at 33.

“He sat there and he watched the whole movie, and you could see his eyes welling up a little bit,” Rivera’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, told People in an interview published on Sunday, March 9. “He’s a strong boy, and he has a lot of content and episodes. His mom will live forever. I think that’s a silver lining of this terrible situation.”

Dorsey, 41, and Rivera, who was best known for her role as Santana Lopez on Glee, were married from 2014 to 2018. Two years after the actors divorced, Rivera died by drowning in July 2020.

Dorsey now raises Josey as a single parent and struggles to rewatch any of Rivera’s past roles himself.

Ryan Dorsey Shares the Last Things Naya Rivera Said to Their Son

“Pictures are hard enough,” Dorsey told the outlet. “I can’t just sit there and watch her sing. It’s hard for me. So many songs make me think about her, like Amy Winehouse‘s ‘Valerie,’ which she sang on Glee, and ‘Sunflower’ by [Post Malone and Swae Lee] because I always used to get her sunflowers on Sundays. I can just see Josey in the back seat bobbing his head and singing that song.”

Looking back on Rivera’s memories further stirs up mixed emotions for Dorsey.

“Sometimes they’re happy reminders but a lot of times, even if it’s happy, the reality is it’s a lot of what could’ve been, what should’ve been,” he said. “A lot of second-guessing everything and wondering how things might have played out if the tiniest decision we make really changes the course of events of life.”

Most importantly, Dorsey is focused on preserving Rivera’s legacy for their son.

“We made this book of memories for Josey that sits by his bed, and during the holidays he was crying looking at it,” Dorsey recalled. “You can only give him a hug and tell him, ‘I know, life is not fair. Bad things happen and there’s no reason for it, and you just have to do your best to be a good person.’ It’s hard trying to explain things that you can’t really make sense of no matter what age you are.”

Ryan Dorsey’s Sweetest Moments With His and Naya Rivera’s Son Josey

According to Dorsey, he specifically tries “to do good by” his ex-wife by throwing “great birthday parties” for Josey.

“I’ll never be able to do it the way she would do things, but I think I’ve done a decent job for a couple,” he said. “For number 10 [in September] I’m going to throw a blowout. I hope to make her proud by throwing parties like she used to throw for him as he gets older.”

Biggest Fan! Golf Pro Tony Finau, Wife Alayna's Relationship Timeline

Tony Finau‘s wife, Alayna Finau, has been there to cheer him on throughout his professional golf career.

The Utah native and Alayna exchanged vows in 2012 and later welcomed five children: Jraice, Leilene “Neenee” Aiaga, Tony, Sage and Sienna-Vee. Before their youngest child’s arrival in 2021, Tony hinted at his desire to keep expanding his big brood.

“We’ll probably do five or six [kids],” he told The Charlotte Observer. “We come from big families. I think Polynesians in general, but also [in] the Mormon community, [Latter Day Saints], we like big families. I have five brothers and three sisters. [My wife] has three sisters and a brother.”

The twosome have not publicly outlined the story of how they met, but they’ve bonded over their faith throughout their romance. “I hear people say things like, ‘Oh, wow, I wouldn’t think that you’re a member [of the church] or Mormon, or anything like that.’ Some people hear different things about Mormons and what we do, what we believe,” Tony said in a 2017 interview. “So, I think it’s a compliment to me.”

Alayna praised her husband during a joint interview for making "a lot of time for all of us" despite his busy schedule. Tony, for his part, wished he could do more.
"I think the biggest challenge when I'm on the road is being away from my family," he told Deseret News. "I always had parents who were there for me ... I don't have as much time with my children as I'd like."

Tony's wife and children caddied for him during the Par 3 Contest at the 2018 Masters. "The kids also witnessed a hole in one from Dad 😱..Nothing short of an AMAZING experience to sum up the day," Alayna gushed via Instagram alongside a sweet family pic.

The athlete celebrated eight years of marriage by sharing eight photos from throughout his relationship with Alayna. "Couldn't imagine my life without you by my side," he captioned an Instagram tribute, adding, "We've had our ups and downs like any couple through marriage but you've always been my number 1 fan and my number 1 support!"

"10 yrs 🤍 Happy anniversary to my one & only! peaks & valleys, learning, growing, compromising & lots of loving. Nobody else I rather do life w/ than you. 🫶🏼 I love you! @tonyfinaugolf ✨," Alayna wrote via social media in honor of the duo's marriage milestone.

Tony opened up about the pair’s marriage struggles in a March interview.
“I honestly can say before COVID, I don’t think my wife and I spent more than two weeks together,” he told Skratch. “We went into it and we were like, ‘We’re about to fall more in love or get a divorce.’ This is only going to end in one of those two ways. And luckily, it was the first.”
