Bachelorette’s Gabby Windey and Robby Hoffman Are Married
Gabby Windey and Robby Hoffman are married.
The couple secretly tied the knot in a 20-minute ceremony in Las Vegas earlier this year, Windey confirmed to Cosmopolitan in an interview published on Wednesday, March 5.
“We had just evacuated from the fires. Literally cue Rihanna, ‘We found love in a hopeless place,’” Windey, 34, told the publication. “What better time to get married than right now? Because if the world is ending, we want to be with each other.”
Windey announced on January 8 that she and Hoffman, 35, evacuated their L.A. home due to the Pacific Palisades wildfires. The couple headed to Las Vegas and checked into a hotel that looked like a wedding suite — which is what planted the seed. Hoffman already had plans “to propose in six months,” Windey explained, so this just sped things up.

“Gabby turned to me and she went, ‘Should we get married?’ And look: I’ve been proposing since the day I met her,” Hoffman explained. “We got to this room and it’s like out of a mafia movie, 12-foot ceilings, a separate bedroom from the living room, that type of hotel. And we were like, ‘Whoa.’ And then Gabby floated getting married.”

Windey added, “It was nice, it being my idea. Robby was literally ready to propose three weeks in and I’m always the one pumping the breaks, but when something feels right, it just feels right. I think it was better for the both of us that it was my idea.”
Hoffman explained that it “felt right” having a private wedding after living their relationship in the public eye. And yes, Hoffman did propose in a crossword puzzle before they walked down the aisle.
Bachelorette’s Gabby Windey and Partner Robby Hoffman’s Cutest Moments
The former Bachelorette revealed in August 2023 that she had been dating the comedian for the past three months before going public with their relationship.

“[I’m] in a relationship like I feel like I’ve never had before,” Windey said in an Instagram Story video at the time. “But I wanted to tell you guys because I always just want to live my life honestly and have you all along with me.”
Prior to her relationship with Hoffman, Windey appeared on Clayton Echard’s season 26 of The Bachelor in 2022 and starred alongside Rachel Recchia as the co-lead for season 19 of The Bachelorette later that year. Windey got engaged to Erich Schwer on The Bachelorette, but the two split less than two months after his proposal aired.
Earlier that day, Windey broke the news about her relationship status during an August 2023 appearance on The View, sharing that she’d previously felt a “whisper” about being attracted to other women but it got “louder and louder” in recent years. Windey added that she could “see the future” with Hoffman in a way she hadn’t been able to in previous relationships.
Gabby Windey Says Robby Hoffman Was Ready for Engagement 'Months Ago'
“She is so special. She makes me feel so safe, so loved,” she raved. “Like, a love that I always wanted going on these dating shows, so now it’s like, ‘Yeah, exactly.’”
Windey told Us Weekly exclusively in October 2023 that she did want to marry Hoffman one day.
“I do want to get married. I think it’s another level of commitment to bring two people closer,” she said. “Whether I want to do it [again] right away — I think I’m just now getting on my feet, getting accustomed to this new life, really finding myself processing all the big change that’s happened in a couple of years. So I kind of want to revel in that and I don’t want to rush a relationship. I want to be in the beginning. I want things to look forward to.”

Why Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Kids Use 2 Last Names

Is it Meghan Markle, Meghan Sussex — or something else entirely?
Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, clarified her last name during a conversation with Mindy Kaling in her new Netflix docuseries, With Love, Meghan.
In the lifestyle show, which premiered on Tuesday, March 4, Meghan corrected Kaling after she referred to the duchess by her maiden name, Markle.
“It’s so funny you keep saying Markle,” Meghan said. “You know it’s Sussex now. You have kids and you go, I share my name with my children. I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much to go, this is our family name. Our little family now.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Quotes About Daughter Lilibet
Meghan, 43, and her husband Prince Harry share two children: Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. Though the couple share a last name with their kids, Archie and Lilibet actually have a second last name, which they inherited from Harry’s late grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
Why Archie and Lilibet Also Use the Name Mountbatten-Windsor
It’s not surprising that Meghan and Harry, 40, use the last name Sussex.
As royals with titles do not usually have last names, they typically use their title as their family name. For example, when Harry and Prince William were growing up, they used the surname Wales because their parents were the Prince and Princess of Wales.
When Harry and Meghan inherited the Sussex dukedom upon their marriage in 2018, their family name became Sussex.
Speaking to People in an interview published on Monday, March 3, Meghan said the Sussex name is part of her “love story” with Harry.
“It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognized how meaningful that would be to me until we had children,” she told the outlet. “I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”

However, Meghan and Harry’s two children were born without royal titles and only inherited their “prince” and “princess” titles after their grandfather, King Charles III, ascended the throne on September 8, 2022.
At the time of his birth on May 6, 2019, Archie’s legal name was Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, according to his birth certificate, which was published online.
Similarly, Lilibet was born Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor on June 4, 2021, according to her birth certificate, which was also published online.
Mountbatten-Windsor is a royal family name most commonly used by members without HRH (His or Her Royal Highness) or prince/princess titles. The name is a combination of “Mountbatten” from Philip’s side, and “Windsor” from Elizabeth II’s family.
Every Time Meghan Markle References Harry and Kids in Netflix's 'With Love'
While Harry and Meghan still use their titles, they stopped using HRH in an official capacity after stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
Meghan and Harry have never used the last name Mountbatten-Windsor. On Archie’s birth certificate, Meghan’s legal name was listed as Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.
Harry’s was listed as His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex.
Meanwhile, on Lilibet’s birth certificate, Harry used the first name “The Duke of Sussex” and the last name “His Royal Highness,” while Meghan listed her full name as Rachel Meghan Markle.
It is not known whether Archie and Lilibet’s names have been legally changed to reflect their new titles. In the line of succession on the royal family’s official website, the children’s names are listed as “Prince Archie of Sussex” and “Princess Lilibet of Sussex.”
They are sixth and seventh in line to the throne respectively after Harry, who is fifth in line.
