Kate Middleton Nails High-Low Spring Dressing With a Coquettecore Twist

You don’t have to be a royal to dress like one, as Princess Kate Middleton proved with her latest high-low ensemble at the London Horse Guards Parade on Thursday, May 8.

Middleton, 43, also offered a masterclass in poised repetition, stepping out in her beloved white Self-Portrait dress ($670) and black Chanel bag ($5,200).

The dress has a business-up-top, party-down-below design – a tailored blazer giving way to a soft, pleated cream chiffon skirt. This clever construction creates the illusion of separates, offering an unexpected contrast within a single garment and endless outfit opportunities.

The skirt’s soft, almost ethereal quality, particularly in contrast to the structured bouclé blazer, introduced an element of unexpected lightness and movement to Middleton’s typically more formal attire. While not overtly sheer, it deviated from the heavier fabrics for royal engagements.

The ‘Kate Effect’: Why the Princess' Outfits Are Such a Huge Deal

This subtle hint of transparency felt like a subtle yet significant stylistic evolution for the Princess of Wales, demonstrating a move toward contemporary trends that still manage to feel elegant.

A signature design from the label renowned for its polished femininity has now graced the royal stage for a third time, as seen in 2021 for a reception at Buckingham Palace and in 2022 for “Party at the Palace,” a concert celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.

Its latest reappearance underscores Middleton’s astute approach to high-street fashion, favoring investment pieces with endless versatility. Notably, the Princess of Wales also possesses the same Self-Portrait dress in classic black, further solidifying the brand’s place in her wardrobe.

This time around, Middleton imbued the familiar silhouette with a fresh twist. The princess adorned her half-up hairstyle with Jigsaw’s velvet bow ($18), which nodded to the coquettecore trend (a.k.a. the Gen Z aesthetic characterized by whimsical details, like bows, lace and pearls). It was a subtle reminder that there’s room for a little sartorial flirtation even amidst royal protocol.

The ever-chic Chanel Classic Mini Flap Bag in black quilted leather completed her ensemble. This luxurious accessory has become another consistent element in the royal’s appearances. It accompanied her during a visit to Marseille, France, in 2023, to the Festival of Remembrance in London in 2024, and more recently, during a Holocaust Memorial Day service in January 2025.

This consistent re-emergence of the iconic Chanel bag alongside pieces like the Self-Portrait dress perfectly exemplifies the Princess of Wales’ adeptness at curating an aspirational yet accessible capsule wardrobe that she can rely on year after year – and we’re taking notes.

Hilary Duff Gushes Husband Matthew Koma Is 'So Hands-On' With Their Kids

Hilary Duff admits she’s currently “in the thick” of parenting but she’s surviving — and maybe thriving — thanks, in part, to her husband, Matthew Koma.

“Oh, [he’s] the best. Are you kidding?” Duff, 37, exclusively told Us Weekly of Koma, also 37, at the Baby2Baby Mother’s Day Celebration presented by Crate & Kids in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 8.

“My friends in town right now from Toronto, and I haven’t seen her for a year, and we wanted to get a workout in. So I was like, ‘We’re gonna do a 7 a.m. workout. You got the kids?’ And he’s like, ‘I’m on it. I got the kids.’ He packed lunches and made breakfast and got everybody dressed and drove them to school. Like, he’s in it.”

She added of the Winnetka Bowling League singer-songwriter, “He’s so hands-on, and then he’s also my best friend. We get in bed and just download information to each other at night, and it’s for fun. We’re really in the thick of it right now.”

Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma’s Relationship Timeline

Duff and Koma share three daughters, Banks, 6, Mae, 4, and Townes, 1, as well as her son Luca, 13, with ex-husband Mike Comrie.

“It’s pretty chaotic,” Duff said of her day-to-day life. “I’m an overworked mom. You know what I mean? I’m tired. I get into [bed] at night and I stare at the wall, like, ‘What’s happened to me? What was that like?’ But it’s everything that I love, and I wanted it. All of the moments that seem really hard are fleeting and they go by fast, and then you have the next thing in front of you. There’s so much joy layered in with all of the chaos. So it’s really fun.”

Duff admitted her house is “wild” with kids ranging from babies to teenagers, but she knows one day she’s going to look back and wish she could relive it all. Still, if she could have it her way, she’d be sipping wine on a float in a childless pool this Mother’s Day.

“One of my favorite Mother’s Day[s] I went away with my friends. I had breakfast with my kids in the morning and then we went to Palm Springs, swam and drank wine. And it was lovely. But this Mother’s Day I’m gonna be home. And my husband was like, ‘Is sleeping in the new flowers?’ And I was like, ‘Yes, please don’t spend money on flowers. I don’t need flowers. I want to sleep in. I want a card and I want to go out to a nice lunch.’ And so, I’m sure halfway through the lunch I’ll be like, ‘Why did we try to go out?’ But we’re gonna try. We’re gonna give it a fighting effort.”

Duff gave back to her L.A. community at the Baby2Baby event presented by Crate & Kids — which provided diapers, formula, hygiene products, clothing, groceries and other critical items to mothers and children who were impacted by January’s wildfires. The actress volunteered her time alongside the likes of Jordana Brewster to help distribute basic essentials to families and also shower moms with special gifts including skincare, robes, makeup, flowers, diaper bags and pampering experiences.

“I love Baby2Baby. They do such good work, all over the country — their reach is just so expansive. And the way that they get us involved, it’s just so rewarding, really,” Duff said of the nonprofit organization, which she’s been working with for nearly a decade. “Every time I get a call, I’m like, ‘If I can, I will, of course. I’m there.’ I love working with them. I love that you get to have contact with the actual mothers or families that are affected by whatever is going on. It just puts a lot into perspective and you always leave just feeling like you are so appreciative for your life, and appreciative for what they’re doing and their dedication to helping families.”

Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma Are Stronger Than Ever in 4th Year of Marriage

Duff was so impressed by all the mothers at the event who lost their homes in the Eaton fire in Southern California, yet still found the strength to keep going for their children and families.

“Getting to have little conversations with them,” she began, “It’s positive. It’s wild. It’s really wild. They’re all displaced. They all have little kids, multiple little kids, you know? And they’re like, ‘Well, this happened to my whole community,’ and they’re starting to see the light, and it’s really beautiful.”

She added, “I was just talking to someone about [how] you never really get a break when you’re a mom. You know what I mean? These moms have their kids dressed so nicely and they throw their hair up in a clip, and you could tell the mom is the last thought. You know? I’m always covered in stains. I try. I don’t know why I wear nice clothes anymore, but that’s just what it is. It’s not perfect. It’s real.”

“Motherhood is such a community, and it’s a wild ride. I’m grateful to be part of the crew,” Duff insisted.

10 Celebrities Facing Hair Loss, and What They Use To Fight It

While many of Hollywood’s finest have gone under the knife to fix a receding hair line, not everyone wants to undergo a hair transplant. But if your appearance is your job, you have to take it seriously — not everyone can be Jason Statham. So which celebrities are fighting hair loss, and what do they use?

We’ve rounded up which celebrities have opened up about hair loss, and the kinds of products they use to slow the process. From Regenix to Nioxin, there are a wide range of products they’ve used that might ultimately help you, too.

Celebrities Facing Hair Loss, and What They Use To Fight It

1. JLo: Love don’t cost a thing for Jennifer Lopez, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t experience hair thinning like everyone else! The singer and actor is a fan of the supplement Minoxidil, which she gets from telehealth provider Hers. According to Yahoo! Life, she’s been using it for a very long time… so clearly, it’s paying off!

2. Matthew McConaughey: Alright, alright alright. Mr. McConaughey has basically been a walking ad for the hair growth product, Regenix, since 1999. According to Healthline, Regenix contains natural ingredients like plant extracts, tea tree oil and rosemary. It also has no side effects, which is a welcome difference when compared to many of the alternatives on this list.

3. Alyssa Milano: TV star Alyssa Milano is a major proponent of Nioxin’s System 1 Kit. According to Shape, Milano started balding as a result of COVID-19. But she says this three-step system, which includes a shampoo, conditioner and foam, really helped make her hair look thicker and healthier than ever.

4. Sharon Stone: Regardless of her hair situation, 67-year-old Sharon Stone is a natural beauty. But she credits the current state of her hair to Augustus Bader Leave-In Treatment. According to InStyle, she experienced hair loss after suffering from a stroke. However, after using product for a while, she says it really brought her hair back to what it once was.

5. Jennifer Garner: Jennifer Garner is forever “13 going on 30,” but the 53-year-old actor has faced serious hair thinning over the years. However, she’s since overcome by regularly using Virtue Flourish Hair Thinning Density Booster Spray. According to Yahoo! Shopping, she considers it “the biggest hair innovation for thinning hair in years and years.”

6. Rob Kardashian: Yes, even the Kardashians experience hair thinning. Rob Kardashian says Viviscal helped thicken his hair after he had previously experienced hair loss. It’s more of a dietary supplement than a drug, so if side effects are a concern, this may be the option for you.

7. Lala Anthony: Actor and entrepreneur Lala Anthony has been extremely open about her hair journey. But Inala Power Potion was ultimately the answer. According to PopSugar her hair was extremely damaged, and she founded the haircare line to help others in her position. She’s reportedly had good luck with it — and has gotten her hair strength back — ever since.

8. Nicole Kidman: Australian queen Nicole Kidman has a lovely head of hair, but it hasn’t always been that way. However, she started using Vegamour Gro Hair Serum, and supposedly had great success with it. According to Yahoo! News, she’s found that Vegamour has her hair looking now much healthier and fuller than it had been.

9. Bradley Cooper: That’s right — even the most seemingly confident celebs may be experiencing hair loss, but we don’t know it. It was alleged The Hangover actor took the hair loss drug finasteride at one point, according to HuffPost UK. Cooper reportedly felt anxious about a receding hairline, so he took the oral medication to fight it. Since he still has a full head of hair, it seems like it may have worked.

10. Rumer Willis: Actor and model Rumer Willis has experienced some hair loss over the years, too. However, Nutrafol has has been a game-changer. ““I have always had a hard time with my hair in general, but ever since I found Nutrafol, things have gotten a lot better,” she said, according to New Beauty.

“My curls are back, I don’t have [balding] spots on my temples. My overall texture isn’t breaking anymore.”

3 Underrated Netflix Movies to Watch This Weekend (May 9-11)

In the first week of May, Netflix added a lot of movies to its library. The Twilight movies returned to the streamer and instantly entered Netflix’s most popular movies list for the week.

The 2024 comedy hit Beetlejuice Beetlejuice also debuted this week on Netflix after streaming exclusively on Max earlier this year. These movies all have their fans, but there are several films on Netflix that deserve more love and attention.

Among them are a recent action movie that is very similar to a ‘90s Keanu Reeves classic, a 1980s comedy that has just been remade as a limited series and a comic book adaptation starring Tilda Swinton as an androgynous angel.

‘Bullet Train Explosion’ (2025)

Mild-mannered train operator Chika Matsumoto (Non) is good at his job, but his skills are about to be tested when an anonymous caller informs his station that there’s a bomb on his train that will explode if the speed drops below 62 mph. To make matters worse, some of the train’s passengers find out about the bomb, and begin either panicking or live-streaming the drama on board. Can Chika keep the train running — and in one piece — in time for the authorities to find the person behind the bomb threats?

3 Underrated Amazon Prime Video Movies to Watch This Weekend (May 9-11)

If you think Bullet Train Explosion’s plot sounds awfully familiar, you’re right. The movie is essentially Speed on a Japanese train, and it doesn’t hide it. A lot can be forgiven if a movie is good, though, and Bullet Train Explosion earns its absolution by being a fun, breezy action flick to watch on a lazy afternoon. The movie was briefly one of Netflix’s most popular movies last month, and it’s not hard to understand why.

Bullet Train Explosion is streaming on Netflix.

‘Constantine’ (2005)

When it was released in February 2005, Constantine got a lot of hate, primarily for daring to cast the very dark-haired, very American Keanu Reeves in the title role of the very blond, very British supernatural detective, John Constantine. While Reeves is miscast, that doesn’t really harm the movie, which is still as fun and freaky 20 years later.

A spear that pierced Jesus Christ is being used to unlock the gates of Hell and the only person to stop it is John Constantine (Reeves). But his time on Earth is almost over due to a nasty smoking habit that’s caused him terminal lung cancer. Constantine strikes a deal with the archangel Gabriel (Tilda Swinton) for more time to investigate, but will he find the mysterious person — and save the city — before it’s too late?

Constantine is streaming on Netflix.

‘The Four Seasons’ (1981)

Netflix just released a much-publicized series remake of the 1981 comedy, The Four Seasons, so it’s only fitting that we should recommend it. And there’s plenty to recommend here: a talented cast led by two comedy legends, a visual storytelling that embraces naturalism over glossy production values and a witty script full of tossed-off jokes and observations about love and marriage.

18 New Movies to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, Max, Hulu, Amazon Prime, More

Throughout the year, three middle-class New York couples vacation together, but their tight-knit group is disrupted when one of the couples decides to divorce. It’s particularly unsettling for Jack and Kate Burroughs (Alan Alda and Carol Burnett), whose marriage isn’t as rock-solid as they initially thought. Will their union survive the changing of the four seasons?

Shirtless Jason Kelce Shows Off His 25 Pound Weight Loss at Truist Pro-Am

Jason Kelce showed off his recent weight loss during a wardrobe malfunction at the 2025 Truist Championship pro-am.

Kelce, 37, was shirtless while struggling to put on his polo before his round at Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course on Wednesday, May 7.

“Good start to the day,” Kelce joked while he finagled the garment in a video via Instagram posted by the PGA Tour. “Classy establishment.”

Once he finally got the shirt over his head, Kelce realized his next error. “It’s backwards,” he said, as those surrounding him broke out in laughter.

Jason Kelce Has Cutest Response to Golfer Whose Daughter Is a Swiftie

On the practice green, somebody told Kelce, “You’ve lost a little weight.”

“I’m trying,” Kelce said, revealing he had trimmed down to 270 pounds after playing at 295 during his NFL career.

In June 2024, three months after announcing his retirement, Kelce said he had already begun the process of getting leaner.

“Right now, I’m about 277. I’m almost 20 pounds down right now,” Kelce told GQ at the time. “It’s hard to imagine another nearly 20 pounds coming off, being honest with you. But my back already feels better. My knees already feel better. So another 20 pounds hopefully will make that much more adept at playing with my children.”

Since then, Kelce and his wife, Kylie Kelce, welcomed their fourth daughter, Finnley “Finn,” in March 2025. Jason and Kylie, 33, also share daughters Wyatt, 5, Ellie, 3, and Bennett, 2.

During his pro-am round on Wednesday, Jason told his partner, Irish golfer Shane Lowry, about his full house back at home.

“It’s chaos, but in the best way, though,” Jason said.

During a candid moment in the midst of their round, Lowry, 38, asked Jason about “retired life.”

“I was talking to Tom Brady at the Super Bowl,” Jason said. “He looked at me [and said], ‘Nothing replaces playing.’”

Jason Kelce Admits He 'Forgot All About' Mother's Day After 4th Baby

That might explain why Jason is keen to golf. While walking the course on Wednesday, Jason opened up about a recent Reddit post he made, in which he attempted to source advice about his swing.

“I thought it would be a fun video to see if Reddit could actually make me a better golfer,” Jason explained. “We’re going to give it 30 days. The main bit of advice so far that almost everybody has told me is that I’m swinging entirely too hard. And then I’m also a heavy over-the-top person through and through.”

Jason also tried getting some suggestions on his swing from PGA star Justin Thomas

“I’m trying to get better, man,” Jason told him. “[I’m] heavy over the top, don’t know if you can tell by looking at me.”
