Inside Caitlyn Jenner's Friendship With Late Sophia Hutchins

Caitlyn Jenner‘s close friend and former manager Sophia Hutchins died at age 29 following an ATV accident on Wednesday, July 2.

TMZ reported that Hutchins was riding an ATV near Jenner’s Malibu, California, home when the vehicle was plunged 350 feet into a ravine after colliding with the bumper of a car. Hutchins was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two people in the car she struck were not injured. It’s not clear whether Jenner witnessed the deadly incident.

After appearing in several episodes of the E! docuseries I Am Cait, which premiered in 2015, Hutchins eventually became Jenner’s business manager. Like Jenner, Hutchins was a trans woman, having come out in college.

While Hutchins frequently attended Hollywood functions at Jenner’s side — including annual Academy Awards festivities — the pair always insisted that their relationship was strictly platonic.

Caitlyn Jenner's Ups and Downs With the Kardashian Siblings Over the Years

Jenner initially tried to shut down insinuations that she was dating Hutchins in 2018 when Variety asked to explain their connection.

“We are not going to get into that,” Jenner insisted at the time. “But we are very close. We do a lot of things together. We’re kind of inseparable. We’re the best of friends.”

Hutchins also addressed the rumors in a 2019 interview with The New York Times by revealing that she was dating a Harvard graduate who worked on Wall Street.

“[Caitlyn and I] were never romantically involved,” she said.

Asked why she thought many assumed she was Jenner’s girlfriend, Hutchins theorized: “Because we weren’t addressing it. I don’t feel a need to address my sex life, quite frankly, unless I want to.”

Hutchins also offered some insight on her working relationship with Jenner, claiming that she stepped in to stop people from “taking massive advantage” of the former Keeping Up With the Kardashians star.

“I was saying, ‘Caitlyn, if I don’t step in here and start managing you, you’re going to go broke,’” she alleged in 2019. (Hutchins graduated from Pepperdine University in 2019 with a finance degree.)

While working with Jenner, Hutchins brokered the athlete turned reality star’s appearance on the British reality show I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! in 2019 and negotiated numerous paid corporate speeches for her.

She famously clashed with U.K. TV host Piers Morgan in 2019 over a combative interview where she was repeatedly asked about her love life.

“If you’re not an item [with Jenner], why aren’t you an item?” Morgan asked during Hutchins’ appearance on Good Morning Britain.

“Was that a real question?” Hutchins asked. “We have a really special relationship. I don’t think we need to be an item to have a really special relationship, so to speak.”

She went on, “I am here for Caitlyn 1,000 percent and Caitlyn’s here for me 1,000 percent. I think the best way to describe our relationship is that we are partners in every sense of the word. When it comes to work, absolutely there for each other 100 percent. When it comes to family and our personal relationship, absolutely there for each other 100 percent and there’s no denying it.”

Hutchins later complained via Instagram about Morgan’s repeated questions about the nature of her relationship with Jenner.

Good Morning Britain, having Piers Morgan is your biggest mistake,” Sophia wrote at the time. “What a joke of a journalist he is. What a pathetic line of questioning he had for me this morning. Totally not cool.”

Hutchins resided at Jenner’s Malibu mansion while managing her career and revealed on Heather McDonald’s “Juicy Scoop” podcast in 2020 that there were similarities to “living with your parents.”

“Last week, we had to put a lock on my door because Caitlyn decided to barge into my room while I had a [male] friend over,” she shared. “You know, [she] kind of saw a lot of things happening.”

She teased, “I’m like, ‘Oh, this might be a turning point where I might need to move out.’ … I don’t want to leave her by herself, but she also knows that I’m getting older and I want to be able to have my own life.”

“I really like living there. My office is based out of there,” she added. “She converted the guest house into our office space. Everyone on my team is in the city. It’s tough to have everyone always drive [to us].”

More recently, Jenner clarified in October 2023 that even though she was “very single,” she was “not even close to looking for a relationship.”

“I’ll never have a relationship in the future,” she emphatically told The Times U.K. “I just don’t see that in my life. I am not looking for that.”

Jenner has yet to comment on Hutchins’ death.

Kate Middleton to Join Prince William for Visit From French President

Princess Kate Middleton will join Prince William for a carriage ride through the streets of Windsor with French President Emmanuel Macron when he visits next week, Buckingham Palace has announced.

Macron, 47, and his wife, Brigitte, are scheduled to visit the U.K. on Wednesday, July 8. Kate and William, both 43, will greet them at an airbase near London before the four proceed to Windsor, where King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be waiting.

Charles, 76, and Camilla, 77, will then join the party in a carriage procession through town.

Kate’s involvement in the ceremony is significant as it comes on the heels of the most recent state visit in December from the Amir of the State of Qatar. The Princess of Wales was absent for major parts of the visit from Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, as she continued her recovery from cancer treatment.

During that visit, she helped greet the couple and took part in the parade but was absent from the banquet.

Just last month, Kate was scheduled to appear at the Royal Ascot before the list of attendees was revised at the last minute and William attended with Charles and Camilla.

Kate’s presence during Macron’s visit is a welcome sign after she gave a candid update about her health earlier in the week when he visited Colchester Hospital in Essex on Wednesday, July 2.

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment,” she said. “Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.”

“You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to,” she continued. “And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.”

Kate added that as she adjusted to life post-treatment, she struggled to find her “new normal.”

“That takes time,” she said, “and it’s a roller-coaster, it’s not smooth, like you expect it to be. But the reality is you go through hard times.”

Kate first announced in March 2024 that doctors had diagnosed her with an undisclosed type of cancer. She immediately stepped back from public duties as she was undergoing chemotherapy and announced her treatment was completed in September of last year.

“As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” she said at the time. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star Gino Palazzolo is ready to dip his feet in the dating pool.

In Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek of the Sunday, July 6, season premiere, cameras roll as Gino goes on a date — but it’s not with Jasmine Pineda.

“I was super excited, you know, to be meeting you for the first time,” Gino says in the preview. “You looked hot.”

The mystery woman — whose identity has yet to be revealed — seemed equally excited to meet Gino for the first time.

90 Day Fiance's Gino Says He's 'Not' Father of Jasmine's Baby: Sneak Peek

“You are adorable,” she says. “I am so happy to meet you. All of my exes have been bald. I prefer bald men.”

While Gino jokes that he may need to take his baseball cap off, the TLC reality star instead decides to visit an ice bar in Las Vegas for a chilly date.

“This is like being in the Antarctic,” he says before ordering an Old Fashioned cocktail. “This is awesome.”

While viewers will have to tune in to see how the date goes, Gino’s potential new love interest seems to be having a great time.

“In my past relationships, I haven’t had the best of luck with men,” she says. “I’m divorced twice, and since then, I’ve had nothing but toxic relationships. I tend to pick the bad boys. The thing about Gino that kind of made me attracted to him was the fact that he was a little on the nerdy side. He wasn’t like this macho man, and so he seemed very safe.”

Gino finds himself at a crossroads during the season premiere of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?

In a March episode of 90 Day: The Last Resort, Gino tried to give his relationship with Jasmine another chance by agreeing to an open marriage. In the tell-all special one month later, however, he expressed regret about his decision.

“Overall, after all this was done, I regret agreeing to open marriage,” he shared on the 90 Day Fiancé: The Last Resort Tell-All. “But I felt like I was trapped in a corner. Like, I had to make a decision, take action, because nothing was working for us.”

Shoppers With Sensitive Skin Say They’ve ‘Noticed a Huge Difference’ After Using This Retinol

You’ve probably heard that retinol is the gold-standard ingredient in anti-aging skincare, working to diminish fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots in as little as a few weeks. Retinaldehyde is an even stronger form of retinol, and even though it’s more likely to cause irritation, Avéne found a way to keep it gentle yet effective in the Retrinal Intensive Multi-Corrective Cream.

Amazon shoppers and dermatologists have been raving about the formula’s effectiveness at treating deep set wrinkles, age spots and dullness, calling it a ‘time machine in a bottle.’

Sensitive Skin? Amanda’s Seyfried’s Go-To Retinol Might Be Your New Favorite

You won’t experience any of the ‘retinol scaries’ with this potent cream, thanks to the plush, pillowy soft texture and thoughtful formula. Retinaldehyde may be three times more powerful than retinol, but because it’s paired with hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, there’s a buffer for your skin. The latter two ingredients flood your complexion with hydration and protect your skin barrier, so you won’t experience any dryness or rough spots.

Avéne has always made their products with sensitive skin top of mind, and those who have tried the fan-favorite formula are already seeing results.

“I am pretty skeptical when it comes to claims by anti-aging products, but this cream really works,” one happy Amazon shopper writes. “I have been using the cream every other night for just over a month and my fine lines are actually diminishing. I have dry skin and have tried similar products in the past, but they were too drying on my skin. That was not the case with this cream, and my skin feels hydrated and smooth.

“I use this every night and have for 6 months now,” another reviewer wrote. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin and how it feels. It has helped clear up old acne scars, softened lines and scars, and I think it helps keep hormonal jaw line acne to a minimum.”

If you’re new to retinol (and especially retinaldehyde), slowly work this cream into your routine. Smoothing this on your skin just one or two nights a week can make a significant difference over time.

Slow and steady wins the race, and there’s no losing when you use Avéne Retrinal Intensive Multi-Corrective Cream. French pharmacy formulas have never failed Us!

Mormon Wives' Zac Affleck Reveals He and Wife Jen Quietly Rehomed Their Dog

The Secret Lives of Mormon WivesZac Affleck revealed he and wife Jen Affleck quietly rehomed their family dog before the arrival of their third baby.

Zac, 28, was asked about his pet in a TikTok comment on Thursday, July 3, which read, “I remember that u have a dog except ur beautiful kids. Is he OK?”

In response, Zac wrote back, “We ended up giving him to a close family member who can take much better care of him and give him the love he needs!”

The couple haven’t previously addressed rehoming their dog as they prepared to expand their family again. Jen, 26, and Zac started dating in 2018 and got married one year later. After welcoming kids Nora, 2, and Luca, 22 months, Jen and Zac joined the cast of Hulu’s reality series about a group of Mormon mom influencers in Utah.

Celebrities Who Made the Difficult Decision to Rehome Their Pets

The first season, which premiered in September 2024, highlighted the challenges in Jen and Zac’s marriage, which eventually led to an offscreen separation.

“It was definitely rocky after season 2. We were both in a different mindset and there’s a lot to navigate,” Jen exclusively told Us Weekly in May. “With me doing the show and Zac in medical school, we’re kind of finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel after all of that chaos.”

Jen said season 2 documented “the worst of what happened in our relationship,” adding, “But again, it is all things that we’re grateful for and I hope we can talk more about it after everyone has seen season 2. I haven’t seen season 2 so I don’t really know what happens. There is effort on both ends of a relationship and you’re both willing to put in that work. You can always make it work and that’s kind of what happens.”

After highlighting the issues in their marriage, Jen and Zac were able to reconcile before she gave birth to their daughter, Penelope.

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' Jen and Zac Affleck's Relationship Timeline

“[This experience] forced me to get help when it came to my mental health because I knew that it wasn’t just affecting me, — it was affecting this baby that was coming into this life,” Jen explained to Us at the time. “So it really was the biggest blessing that could have happened in our marriage. It was really what made a shift in my life and made me realize no matter what happens in our marriage, I want to be the best version of myself.”

Jen added: “I don’t think I was that beginning of season 2 and pregnancy is what ultimately led me to that. Now that I’m in a better place, I’m truly grateful for this baby and all this pregnancy journey has taught me.”

Jen confirmed on Wednesday, July 2, that she and Zac are now officially a family of five. “Baby Penelope is here & she is perfect,” she wrote via Instagram. “Going unmedicated was truly the most painful but empowering experience of my life. I could not have done it without Zac and my supportive doula! I’m so grateful and so happy that Penny is earth side now.”

Paul Simon Had Surgery After Canceling Shows Over 'Chronic and Intense' Pain

Paul Simon is on the mend after undergoing back surgery.

A statement from Simon’s team on Thursday, July 3, confirmed that the musician, 83, had successful surgery after suffering from “severe back pain,” which caused him to cancel his June 27 and 28 shows in Philadelphia. Simon had a performance scheduled on Monday, July 7, in Long Beach, California, but that has since been postponed until the next day amid Simon’s recovery.

“Thanks to a great team of doctors, the surgery went well, as expected,” read the Instagram statement. “However, it has become clear he will need one additional day of rest and recuperation to ensure he is able to perform at the top of his ability in Long Beach.”

The post noted that the decision to move the concert back by one day was made out of “an abundance of caution” and that all tickets will be accepted for the rescheduled date. There will also be refunds for fans who can’t make the new concert date, which will be held at the same location.

Celebrity Health Scares Through the Years

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but Paul is looking forward to seeing everyone in Long Beach on Tuesday,” the post concluded.

Simon’s health scare previously caused him to cancel the two shows at Philadelphia’s Academy of Music just hours before he was set to take the stage.

“Paul has been struggling with chronic and intense back pain,” a statement posted via Instagram read in June. “Today it became unmanageable and demands immediate attention. Unfortunately, we have to cancel these shows at this time, as we don’t have the ability to reschedule them.”

The statement noted that Simon was prioritizing his health.

“However, we are hopeful after this minor surgical procedure which has been scheduled in the next few days, Paul will be able to complete the tour as well as look into returning to make up these dates,” the statement continued. “In the meantime, please go to your point of purchase or local ticket provider for a full refund.”

Louis Tomlinson Cancels Album Signings After Breaking Arm ‘Pretty Badly’

Simon is currently on his A Quiet Celebration Tour, which was announced after he retired from touring in 2018 due to hearing loss.

“It was incredibly frustrating. I was very angry at first that this had happened,” Simon told CBS News in November 2024. “I guess what I’m most apprehensive about would be if I can’t hear well enough to really enjoy the act of making music.”

He continued: “You know Matisse, when he was suffering at the end of his life, when he was in bed, he envisioned all these cut-outs and had a great creative period. So I don’t think creativity stops with disability. So far, I haven’t experienced that. And I hope not to.”

Giada De Laurentiis Says Boyfriend Once Challenged Her to a ‘Sauce Off’

Giada De Laurentiis knows that in the kitchen, as in love, it always helps to add a little spice — something she promptly put into practice when she met boyfriend Shane Farley.

“It’s been 10 years now with Shane [and] he was a pretty good cook before he met me,” De Laurentiis, 54, told Us Weekly exclusively while promoting her partnership with Peroni Italian Beer Ice. “I think he did things a little differently than I do. But his mother was Italian.”

The Giada in My Kitchen star explained that Farley, 52, asked her to compete in a “sauce off” with him during the early days of their romance.

“[It’s] something he used to do with his friends,” she recalled. “I’m like, ‘You really don’t want to do a sauce off with me.’ And he’s like, ‘No, I really do. I used to win them all the time.’ ‘Yeah, but you’re not gonna win it with me.’”

Giada De Laurentiis Left The Food Network Because She Was ‘Burnt Out’

De Laurentiis eventually agreed, admitting “I had to doctor up his sauce because the thing that people miss a lot is seasoning. He wasn’t seasoning it.”

The couple met back in 2013 while working at Food Network before sparking a romance two years later. Now, almost a decade into their relationship, De Laurentiis said they have come a long way in the kitchen together.

“Over the years, in the sweetest way, I have been able to teach him a few things and he makes an awesome sauce now,” the chef told Us. “The empowering thing for me is that when people come over and I’m working and I can’t make a full dinner because I’m not home, he does it, and he feels so good about it. He’s become so good at it.”

Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover Had Our Vote for Best Bravo Couple of 2024

Just like nurturing a relationship, DeLaurentiis told Us that helping a partner with their cooking skills takes time and patience.

“You’ve got to eat maybe some dishes that are not so, you know,” she said. “But we got there and now I have somebody that can help me in the kitchen and he’s really good at it and feels really empowered by it. It’s been a really fun journey.”

This summer, De Laurentiis and Farley will be toasting their meals with boozy frozen treat Peroni Italian Beer Ice, which the TV personality created in partnership with the Italian lager.

“I loved granita as a kid, we eat a lot of granita in the south, in Naples and Sicily. I thought we could combine the beer and the ice together and sort of bring the cocktail with the dessert all in one for summertime,” she told Us of the new drink. “I think it’s clever and I think people haven’t really heard that before, and it’s got less alcohol than the wine does, so it’s a way for us to enjoy ourselves without having way too much fun and having a terrible hangover the next day.”

Virginia Madsen Pays Tribute to Late Brother Michael Madsen

Virginia Madsen paid tribute to her late brother, Michael Madsen, following his death at age 67 on Thursday, July 3.

“My brother Michael has left the stage. He was thunder and velvet. Mischief wrapped in tenderness. A poet disguised as an outlaw,” Virginia, 63, wrote via Instagram on Thursday. “A father, a son, a brother — etched in contradiction, tempered by love that left its mark.”

In her tribute, Virginia noted that although Michael had a legendary reputation in Hollywood, his loved ones always treasured his humanity.

“We’re not mourning a public figure. We’re not mourning a myth — but flesh and blood and ferocious heart,” she pointed out. “Who stormed through life loud, brilliant and half on fire. Who leaves us echoes — gruff, brilliant, unrepeatable — half legend, half lullaby.”

Celebrity Deaths of 2025: Stars We've Lost

She concluded: “I’ll miss our inside jokes, the sudden laughter, the sound of him. I’ll miss the boy he was before the legend. I miss my big brother. Thank you to everyone reaching out with love and memory. In time, we’ll share how we plan to celebrate his life. But for now — we stay close, and let the silence say what words can’t.”

Virginia received numerous supportive replies from the Hollywood community, including uplifting messages from Superman director James Gunn, The Real Housewives of Beverly HillsJennifer Tilly and Dumb and Dumber actress Lauren Holly.

“My condolences. He was a wonderful man,” Tilly, 66, replied via Instagram, with Holly adding, “I’m so sorry for your loss.”

Michael’s longtime manager Ron Smith previously confirmed to Us Weekly that the Kill Bill and Free Willy actor died from a suspected cardiac arrest, after being found unresponsive at his home in Malibu, California.

A Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department spokesperson subsequently confirmed to Us that Michael was pronounced dead when officers arrived on the scene.

“The death is believed to have been from natural causes and no foul play is suspected,” a sheriff’s department representative clarified.

Michael is perhaps best known for his frequent collaborations with filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. His breakout role was playing Mr. Blonde in Tarantino’s 1992 crime thriller Reservoir Dogs — and he was the director’s original choice to play Vincent Vega in 1994’s Pulp Fiction. When Michael turned down the part, Tarantino eventually cast John Travolta for a career-defining performance.

Tarantino reunited with Michael many years later by casting him in supporting roles in Kill Bill: Volumes 1 and 2, 2015 Western The Hateful Eight and 2019’s Oscar-winning crime comedy Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

“In the last two years Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film including upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions and Cookbook for Southern Housewives, and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life,” the actor’s managers Smith and Susan Ferris and publicist Liz Rodriguez told Us. “Michael was also preparing to release a new book called Tears for My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems, currently being edited.”

Michael Madsen Speaks Out on Son’s Death by Suicide: 'In Shock'

They concluded, “Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood’s most iconic actors, who will be missed by many.”

Michael is survived by his third wife, DeAnna Morgan, and five living children, including The Family Business and Divergent actor Christian Madsen. (He was previously married to Cher’s half-sister, Georganne LaPiere, from 1984 to 1988 and to Jeannine Bisignano from 1991 to 1995.)

Michael opened up about his grief in 2022 when his son Hudson Madsen died at age 26. (Hudson was Tarantino’s godson.)

“We are heartbroken and overwhelmed with grief and pain at the loss of Hudson,” he told Metro U.K. in January 2022. “His memory and light will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. We ask for privacy and respect during this difficult time.”
