16 and Pregnant alum Whitney Purvis is reflecting on her favorite memories with 16-year-old son Weston Jr. Gosa before his tragic death.
“I will always cherish our memories together,” Purvis wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, June 3. “The songs you [used] to love, your laugh, the phases you would go through, the little dolphin noise you [used] to do when you were younger, your smile, your jokes, the first day of school, playing with you, your first time swimming, making crafts, how you would dance in your crib to the law and order svu theme song, being a great big brother, the first time I held you and the last hug I gave you.”
The post featured two snaps of Purvis and her eldest son. The first was a photo taken while the duo were out to eat while the second was a throwback selfie from when he was a baby.
“I love you Weston more than words could ever describe. Rest in peace, my beautiful boy,” she concluded.
Purvis announced on Monday, June 2, that Weston had died unexpectedly.
“This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston, has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair,” she wrote via Facebook. “I just don’t understand. Oh my baby is gone and I don’t know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true. How do you go on in life after losing a child? I’m in disbelief, this cannot be happening. I don’t want it to be real. I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can’t describe the pain I am feeling.”
An official cause of death has yet to be determined. Weston’s stepmom, Amy Gosa, shared via Facebook that the family attempted to wake Weston up only to discover he was “not breathing.”
“We attempted CPR and called an ambulance. The paramedics attempted it as well and took him to the hospital in Gordon County where he was pronounced dead,” Amy wrote. “He had several health issues as well as diabetes. We are completely heartbroken and in shock. It was so unexpected.”
Amy added that “losing a child is the most painful thing” she has “ever experienced.”
“He was the most amazing son I could have asked for. He was brilliant, smart, funny and had so much potential in life. It doesn’t feel real,” she continued. “Please keep our family and Whitney in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn such a brilliant amazing life that was our son.”

After his death, a spokesperson for the family said in a statement to The New York Times, “Candice is devastated by the loss of her soul mate, and her two young daughters’ lives are forever impacted by the loss of their beloved daddy.”
Months later, court documents obtained by The New York Times revealed that Brandon was $33.6 million in debt at the time of his death. Candice claimed that her husband died without a will, leaving her in debt and only $8,000 in her bank account.
Candice, who initially deactivated her social media after Brandon’s death, claimed in the docs that he owed more than $20 million in unsecured loans from UBS Bank, BMO Bank and American Express.
In January, Page Six reported that Candice began auctioning off her husband’s belongings. Multiple items were listed on the website Auction Ninja, featuring an “exclusive curated online auction” sale at the Mecox Bay Water Mill Estate, per the outlet.

Wake Forest baseball coach Tom Walter responded after apparently being caught using a homophobic slur during the NCAA regionals.
“I am very sorry for my outburst in frustration last night and I recognize the hurt and disappointment it has caused,” Walter said in a Tuesday, June 3, statement released by the university. “I have seen the videos and while I do not remember the specific moment clearly, that language does not reflect my values or the standards of this program. Regardless, I own the consequences and I apologize to the University of Tennessee, to Wake Forest University, and the SEC & ACC.”
During the 4th inning of Wake Forest’s College World Series regional game against the University of Tennessee on Monday, June 2, Walter was shown on ESPN during the at-bat of Tennessee’s Andrew Fischer, alleging mouthing the slur.
It was not clear who Walter was discussing at the time of the incident, which went viral on social media.
Moments after, Fischer hit a two-run home run to extend Tennessee’s lead to 8-2. Tennessee would ultimately win the game 11-5 and secure a victory in the Knoxville Regional. The loss ended Wake Forest’s season.
Wake Forest’s vice president and director of athletics, John Currie, also issued a statement on Tuesday condemning Walter’s alleged remark.

“I am both surprised and deeply disappointed in our head coach Tom Walter for his outburst during last night’s baseball game,” the statement said. “I feel badly for those most hurt by such words. I spoke with Coach Walter immediately after the game and again this morning to address this incident, which is completely out of character for him and does not meet the standards of Wake Forest Athletics, Wake Forest University or the Atlantic Coast conference.”
The controversial moment also earned the condemnation of fans and members of the media, including college baseball writer Aaron Fitt.
“Was very disappointed to see Tom Walter use a homophobic slur last night — he’s someone I have always respected as a leader of young men,”’ Fitt posted via X on Tuesday. “We need to do a better job making baseball a welcoming place for the gay community.”
Wes Rucker, who covers Tennessee athletics for 247Sports and CBS Sports, issued a similar message on social media.
“If any of us were caught on video saying what Tom Walter said tonight, we would be fired,” Rucker wrote via X. “Or, at the very least, we would be forced to attend classes and learn why you can’t call anyone that.”
He continued, “There’s no place for that word. We’re going backward as a society if we allow that.”

It was actually Hendrix, an avid animal rights supporter, who encouraged Walter to adopt her dogs Steve and Buster. A year after she rescued Steve from a high kill shelter, Hendrix’s rescue dog gave birth to puppies. She kept one pup for herself, Ellie, while gifting Buster to Walter.
“We had siblings for years and years until her Ellie passed, and I had Buster,” Walter shared.
A year after the comedian lost Steve to cancer, she discovered a nodule on Buster’s mouth that turned out to be cancer as well.
“I had a little money to take care of him because it was right after I started on Abbott Elementary,” she shared, noting that Buster is doing much better these days. “But had I not had that money to take care of Steve and now Buster, who had radiation and other costs… I would’ve had to make this terrible choice that I see a lot of people making.”

During a surprise intimate performance at Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel in New York City on Monday, June 2, the “Flowers” singer opened up to the audience in between her setlist. “I tried that salmon sperm. Have you heard about that? I tried it,” she told the unsuspecting crowd, per People.
Cyrus, 32, elaborated on the details of the experience: “Tastes strange, but my skin looks good,” she said before swiftly clarifying, “I didn’t mean to drink it. It’s just like a whole [face] mask.”
While the admission left some of the audience members understandably slack-jawed, Cyrus lightened the mood with a joke. “I never met the salmon,” she quipped. “It came pre-packaged.”
Cyrus didn’t shy away from sharing that the treatment was rather, well, fishy. “I don’t even know if it is what it says it is,” she confessed. “I don’t know, but I do feel like my skin’s looking good.”
Cyrus isn’t the only star to embrace salmon sperm treatments for their purported anti-aging benefits. In a March 2025 episode of The Kardashians, Khloé Kardashian shared she uses salmon sperm in her skincare routine. While chatting with her glam team, Kardashian, 40, quipped, “I’m never gonna do whale sperm!” (She draws the line at other sea creatures, too.)
Kim Kardashian previously made headlines for trying a salmon sperm facial, a cosmetic trend popularized initially by Jennifer Aniston. On a 2024 episode of the reality show, Kim, 44, told her mom, Kris Jenner, “I got a salmon sperm facial with salmon sperm injected into my face.”
Aniston, 55, first opened up about her own experience with salmon sperm facials during an interview with WSJ. Magazine in August 2023. The Friends star recounted a conversation with her aesthetician: “First of all, I said, ‘Are you serious? How do you get salmon’s sperm?’”
In 2024, Aniston gave an update on the effects on Jimmy Kimmel Live! While she was yet to see significant results from the facial, she believed it to be “the future” of anti-aging skincare. “Let me explain to you, it’s not like, how do you get sperm out of a salmon?” she told Jimmy Kimmel, noting that, at the time, the process was “unclear” to her. For the uninitiated, the treatment typically involves micro-needling the skin with salmon sperm, which can be combined with hyaluronic acid, according to Beverly Hills-based cosmetic surgeon Dr. Gabriel Chiu, who discussed the burgeoning skincare trend with Variety in September 2024.
According to dermatologist Dr. Joshua Zeichner, salmon reproductive cells have been shown “to improve skin, hydration, plumpness, texture and wrinkles,” per a 2023 interview with Popsugar. “The effects on the skin are thought to be due to high DNA levels. DNA is composed of amino acids, which have long been used in skin care for their hydrating and cell-renewing benefits.”
Judging by Cyrus’ appearance at the 2025 Met Gala, whatever she’s doing, it’s working. The Grammy-winner lit up the Metropolitan Museum of Art red carpet on Monday, May 5, in a custom Alaïa ensemble and invisible makeup that highlighted her naturally radiant visage.
