Kenan Thompson is mourning the death of his fellow Nickelodeon child star Michelle Trachtenberg.

“Our first Nick movie star has departed us!!” Thompson, 46, wrote via Instagram shortly after news of Trachtenberg’s death at age 39 broke Wednesday, February 26. “She was my friend and now she rests!! Check on your people!!! .”

Thompson’s post featured a clip of the pair from the 1999 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Trachtenberg served as a commentator during a “mega mini golf” competition between Thompson and Randy “Macho Man” Savage. Thompson also shared a more recent snap of himself and the actress taken at an event.

Several celebrities offered their condolences in the post’s comments. “Ohhh nooooooo RIP to her my condolences to her family,” Thompson’s former Saturday Night Live castmate Jay Pharoah commented, while Vanessa Bayer left three heart emojis underneath the post.

Stars React to Michelle Trachtenberg’s Death at Age 39

Thompson and Trachtenberg both got their Hollywood starts on Nickelodeon. Thompson famously starred on the sketch comedy series All That from 1994 to 2002 before getting his own series, Kenan & Kel, with Kel Mitchell. He and Mitchell, 46, also starred in the 1997 Nickelodeon original movie Good Burger, which got a 2023 sequel on Paramount+.

Trachtenberg, for her part, appeared in shows such as Clarissa Explains It All and The Adventures of Pete & Pete before booking her breakout film role in the 1996 Nickelodeon movie Harriet the Spy. She also made an appearance on a 1998 episode of the Nickelodeon children’s series Blue’s Clues.

Trachtenberg’s other Nickelodeon credits include a 1996 episode of the series Space Cases and appearing as herself on several episodes of the game show Figure It Out.

On Wednesday, police sources confirmed to Us Weekly that Trachtenberg was found unconscious inside her New York City apartment. Though her cause of death is “not yet apparent,” officials do not believe the circumstances surrounding her death to be suspicious. Sources also told Us that Trachtenberg had a liver transplant shortly before her death. She was reportedly found in her apartment by her mother, Lana.

“It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away,” her rep said in a statement to Us on Wednesday. “The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time.”

Trachtenberg followed up her time on Nickelodeon with roles in many memorable projects, including Inspector Gadget, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Six Feet Under, Ice Princess, 17 Again, Mercy and Gossip Girl.

Thompson is one of several celebrities to pay tribute to Trachtenberg. Her Harriet the Spy costar Rosie O’Donnell (who also hosted the 1999 Kids’ Choice Awards) called her death “heartbreaking” in a Wednesday statement to Us, adding, “I loved her very much. She struggled the last few years. I wish I could have helped.”

Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick wrote that he was “so sad” about Trachtenberg’s death in a Wednesday Instagram Story post, while Kim Cattrall shared a photo of herself and Trachtenberg from the movie Ice Princess via Instagram. “Rest in peace sweet Michelle ,” she captioned the snap.

Michelle Trachtenberg was in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend, Jay Cohen, at the time of her death in February 2025.

In October 2020, sources exclusively confirmed to Us Weekly that Trachtenberg had been dating her talent agent, Cohen, for “over a year.”

At the time, Trachtenberg sparked engagement rumors by sharing a since-deleted Instagram pic of herself sporting a large diamond ring. “I picked the right one ,” she captioned the October 2020 selfie.

She went on to add, “Now that I have your attention. I know @joebiden @kamalaharris and I will be very happy together. #vote .”

Trachtenberg and Cohen never publicly addressed whether or not they were engaged, choosing to keep their romance primarily out of the public eye. However, the pair occasionally shared sweet photos of each other via social media.

Trachtenberg posted a Valentine’s Day tribute to Cohen via Instagram days before she died at age 39 on February 26, 2025. Police sources confirmed to Us that she was found unconscious in her New York City apartment. Hoda Kotb thinks Lester Holt should follow in her footsteps after his upcoming exit from NBC Nightly News.

“Lester! Hats off to a great run on @nbcnightlynews!” Kotb, 60, captioned pics of herself and her loved ones with Holt, 65, via Instagram on Tuesday, February 25. “Now all thats [sic] left is a move to the burbs … and a @toyota sienna mini van [sic]! Xx love you @lesterholtnbc. Xo.”

Kotb has been enjoying the suburban life herself since departing her longtime Today hosting gig last month. Kotb announced that she and her daughters Haley, 8, and Hope, 5, were moving outside of New York City back in March 2024. One month later, Kotb shared how excited she was for her kids to experience Halloween in the suburbs. “We used to go trick-or-treating at CVS and the dry cleaners and [a nail salon],” she said on Hoda & Jenna. “My kids thought trick-or-treating was walking into a store and having the lady behind the counter put some [candy] in your bag. … Everywhere I look in our town, [there’s] those big spiderwebs, all the things.”

Kotb even concluded her final Today episode on January 10 by driving away from 30 Rockefeller Plaza with her kids in her minivan, with a “Just Repotted” sign strapped to the back.

While Craig Melvin took over Kotb’s coanchor role on Today, it has not been announced who will replace Holt on Nightly News. He announced he will be leaving the show after 15 years as host in a note to staffers on Monday, February 24.

“A smile comes to my face when I think that with Nightly News, and Dateline, I have now anchored two of the most successful and iconic television news programs in broadcast history,” his message read, per NBC News. “As a 20-year-old radio reporter on the police beat chasing breaking news around San Francisco, I could never have imagined my career path would unfold in the way it has. Following his Nightly News departure early this summer, Holt will continue his longtime role as an anchor on Dateline in a full-time capacity. Like Holt, Kotb will also remain in the NBC family as a special correspondent who will continue to make occasional Today appearances and cover the next two Olympics.

“I want to be a supporting character on a team that is already in place so that I’ll come in and just have a role there. And then I’m going to do my ‘Making Space’ podcast, which I enjoy and love so much,” Kotb told Page Six last month. “And for the Today show, I think we talked about doing something every four to six weeks, just a little something.” She also revealed she is in the “building process” of creating a wellness app and company.

As seen in the Wednesday, February 26, trailer, Another Simple Favor picks up with Anna Kendrick’s Stephanie Smothers promoting a book she wrote about the events of the first film titled The Faceless Blonde. Much to her surprise, Emily somehow managed to get out of prison and decided to crash her frenemy’s event. “Boo!” she says upon her arrival.

Turns out, Emily wants Stephanie to be the maid of honor for her upcoming Italian wedding. “Why am I here?” Stephanie asks Emily, who replies, “Do you think I invited you to get revenge for stealing my life and taking my kid away? Do you think I want to make you pay?”

“I don’t know, do you?” Stephanie retorts.

However, the glamorous wedding weekend turns out to be anything but a relaxing getaway. The trailer goes on to tease several shocking moments, from Stephanie seemingly discovering a dead body to an explosion happening at one of Emily’s wedding celebrations to someone falling off a balcony.

“If I do try to murder you, it’ll make an amazing sequel,” Emily quips at the end of the trailer.

In addition to Lively, 37, and Kendrick, 39, Henry Golding will reprise his role as Emily’s now-ex-husband, Sean. Other returning cast members include Andrew Rannells, Aparna Nancherla, Kelly McCormack, Ian Ho and Joshua Satine. The sequel’s trailer also gives a first look at several new cast additions, including Alex Newell, Michele Morrone, Elena Sofia Ricci, Allison Janney and Elizabeth Perkins.

Prior to its Prime Video release this spring, Another Simple Favor is set to premiere at the 2025 SXSW film festival in Austin, Texas, on March 7.

The film marks Lively’s first movie release since her ongoing legal drama with Justin Baldoni. She filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the director, 41, in December 2024, months after reports that the two faced creative differences while making the August 2024 book adaptation It Ends With Us.

While Lively’s legal filing accused Baldoni of inappropriate on-set behavior and attempting to launch a smear campaign against her, his opposing lawsuits against her, The New York Times, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane, accuse her of attempting to take over creative control of It Ends With Us and alleged she blocked him out of the film’s marketing and premieres.

Both Lively and Baldoni, as well as The New York Times, have denied the other side’s allegations. The pair’s trial is set to begin on March 9, 2026.

Another Simple Favor director Paul Feig vocalized his support for Lively following her initial December 2024 lawsuit. “I’ve now made two movies with Blake and all I can say is she’s one of the most professional, creative, collaborative, talented and kind people I’ve ever worked with,” he wrote via X at the time. “She truly did not deserve any of this smear campaign against her. I think it’s awful she was put through this.”

Feig, 62, has since denied social media rumors that Another Simple Favor was canceled because of Lively and Baldoni’s drama, as well clarified the only cut of Another Simple Favor is his own. (Baldoni claimed that Lively created her own cut of It Ends With Us.)

“It’s my cut. There is no other cut,” Feig responded to a social media comment earlier this month. “Blake has been nothing but supportive and a dream to work with. She is the best and an amazing collaborator and I’m her biggest fan. Just wanted to clear that up.”

Hollywood has a lot to say about Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s ongoing It Ends With Us legal drama.

“It is important in times like these to have a distraction, and that’s why I want to personally extend my gratitude to Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively,” Chelsea Handler joked while hosting the 2025 Critics Choice Awards on February 7. “Thank you for providing us with that distraction. I’m grateful. I think we’re all grateful and I think we’re good.”

That distraction started when Lively filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the director in December 2024, months after speculation spread that Lively and Baldoni butted heads on the set of the August 2024 book adaptation. Among her many claims, she accused Baldoni of making inappropriate comments, attempting to add additional sex scenes into the film and allegedly launching a smear campaign against her to damage her reputation. In the amended lawsuit filed February 18, Lively also claimed Baldoni’s behavior made other women on set “uncomfortable.”

Baldoni refuted Lively’s claims by filing a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times — which first reported on Lively’s filing — later that month and a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane.

In his lawsuits, Baldoni claimed that Lively’s text screenshots about the alleged smear campaign omitted context. He also accused Lively of attempting to take over creative control of the film despite his role as director, as well as claimed she attempted to ban him from the film’s marketing and New York City premiere.

Both sides, as well as The New York Times, have vehemently denied the other’s allegations. The pair’s trial is scheduled to begin on March 9, 2026.

Kate Hudson

When asked what’s on her social media “for you pages” in a February 24 interview with Betches, Hudson joked that her “shameful” suggested feed has been taken over by Baldoni and Lively’s conflict.

“Apparently, I’m just interested in before and afters, anybody who’s ever threaded their face, Justin [Baldoni] and Blake Lively, and I get a lot of hooded eye makeup tutorials.”

Chelsea Handler

During her Critics Choice Awards opening monologue, Handler also poked fun at the title of It Ends With Us, stating, “I think everybody in this room, no matter whose side you’re on, we can all agree to accept that there’s probably not going to be a sequel. It ends with us, guys.”

In a February 24 interview with Page Six, Handler stated that the legal drama has become “such a frenzy” because Lively and Baldoni “keep releasing more and more stuff.” Despite finding it all “interesting,” Handler said that she was ready for the fight to come to an end.

“It’s like you have to break up a fight in a schoolyard playground,” she quipped. “It’s like, ‘Don’t they know to stop?’ Isn’t someone saying, ‘Stop it!’?’”

Judd Apatow

Apatow poked fun at Lively and Baldoni while praising Wicked during his opening monologue at the 77th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards. “It was the highest-grossing movie musical of all time. Do you know that?” he said. “Usually, to make that much money, you have to sue Blake Lively.”

According to People, Apatow went on to ask why so much fuss has been made “over such a terrible movie.”

Lorne Michaels

Reynolds referenced his and Lively’s legal battle against Baldoni during Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special on February 16. When asked by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler how he was doing, he responded, “[I’m doing] great. Why, what have you heard?”

Dana Carvey later revealed on his “Fly on the Wall” podcast that while he congratulated the show’s creator, Lorne Michaels, on the special via text, Michaels only wanted to talk about Lively and Baldoni.

“Instead of talking about the show, he just goes, ‘Baldoni will now countersue. I think that Lively will probably get a new attorney,’” Carvey shared. Recalling another of Michaels’ texts, he continued, “‘I don’t know where Ryan Reynolds is on this, but certainly they have deep pockets.’”

Bethenny Frankel

In a January 8 TikTok video, the Bravolebrity recalled following Baldoni into a theater at the NYC premiere of It Ends With Us, assuming that was where the screening would be held. “Always, unless it’s a weird, different screening, the premiere is in one giant theater and there might be an overflow theater. But here, he’s in one theater, something’s going on somewhere else,” she shared. “So they take us and they put us all the way to the left in this theater where nobody was. It felt like everyone was separated.”

Frankel noted that the “vibes were not vibing” and that she hadn’t spoken up about it out of fear of being “canceled.” She proceeded to call her publicist and left the premiere. “It felt like I was doing something wrong, but it felt like I was doing something right. Something was f—ed.”

One month later, she called Reynolds’ SNL 50 joke about the lawsuits “absolutely brilliant” via TikTok. “[SNL is] the epicenter of pop culture. It is the zeitgeist. Bullseye,” she gushed. “For Ryan and Blake to participate is nothing short of genius because the only way to weather a storm is to go straight through it.”

She went on to clarify, “As I keep saying, no one knows what actually happened. So, all of the speculation is tricky and risky business, but that was very smart. Bravo.”

Nikki Glaser

Glaser gave her two cents on the Lively and Baldoni drama when asked if she would be making a joke about the lawsuits while hosting the 2025 Golden Globes. “I think the Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni thing is such a hot-button thing right now that even a mere mention of it will seem like I could be on the wrong side of things, even though I would never be,” she told Yahoo! Entertainment on January 2. “I also don’t want to give his name any [weight]. I’m mad I even know his name, to be honest with you, so I don’t need to say it anymore.”

Zoë Kravitz has nothing but fond memories of working with her ex-fiancé Channing Tatum on her directorial debut, Blink Twice.

When asked whether the pair’s breakup affects how she views the film in an interview with Elle published Tuesday, February 25, Kravitz, 36, simply responded, “Not at all.”

Despite their split, Kravitz said she’s excited to see what Tatum does next. “He has so much more coming, and I think he’s in a place as an actor where he’s feeling really confident and people are seeing different sides of him,” she gushed. “He’s got a lot to offer, so I’m excited for people to keep witnessing that.”

Several Today hosts took to social media to honor the former Weekend Today coanchor after news of his Nightly News departure broke on Monday, February 24. “Congrats to @lesterholtnbc on an amazing decade and the new chapter about to unfold!” Savannah Guthrie captioned an Instagram pic of the two working together on past presidential election coverage. “I’m grateful for getting to share so many historic moments right by your side – always, always the class act .”

In addition to working together on Today and covering political events for NBC over the years, Guthrie, 53, has filled in for Holt on Nightly News a handful of times. She even interviewed Holt on Today when he was named as Brian Williams’ Nightly News successor in June 2015.

Dylan Dreyer also reminisced on her time working with Holt in an Instagram tribute of her own. “You’d think the most nerve-wracking day of my career was my first day on air at Weekend Today. But @lesterholtnbc made me feel so comfortable from day 1,” she captioned photos of the pair on Monday.

Dreyer, 43, joined the Today crew as the weather anchor of Weekend Today in 2012. She worked with Holt on the series until he exited Weekend Today in 2015. Dreyer has also appeared with Holt on Nightly News and its children-focused spinoff, Nightly News: Kids Edition.

Holt announced he would be stepping down as the anchor of Nightly News after a decade in the role in a memo to staff members on Monday. “A smile comes to my face when I think that with Nightly News, and Dateline, I have now anchored two of the most successful and iconic television news programs in broadcast history,” his message read, per NBC News. “As a 20-year-old radio reporter on the police beat chasing breaking news around San Francisco, I could never have imagined my career path would unfold in the way it has. What an amazing ride.”

In another memo shared by Variety, Holt clarified that he will continue his role as a Dateline anchor in a full-time capacity. (Holt has appeared on Dateline since 2011).

Guthrie and Dreyer weren’t the only Today personalities to congratulate Holt on his career move.

“Thank you @lesterholtnbc – everyone is better having worked alongside you, learned from you, and benefited from your support of an afternoon snack,” Weekend Today coanchor and NBC News correspondent Laura Jarrett wrote alongside an Instagram pic of herself and Holt sitting at the news desk. “Very grateful .”

Her fellow Weekend Today coanchor and NBC News correspondent Peter Alexander wrote that he “could not be more grateful” to Holt “for his mentorship and friendship over so many years” in his own Instagram post. “Lester, @nbcnews is better because of you,” he gushed.

According to Maks Chmerkovskiy, Kirstie Alley once mistook his dance moves as something else while rehearsing for Dancing With the Stars.

“Kirstie Alley told me, ‘Oh, my God. You’re so flirty.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’” the former DWTS pro, 45, recalled on the Monday, February 24, episode of the “Sibling Revelry” podcast. “[It was] in rehearsal and it’s on tape, and she’s like, ‘Yeah, look where your hand is.’ I’m like, ‘My hand is where?’ She’s like, ‘All over my back.’”

Though Alley seemingly interpreted the touch as a flirtatious gesture, Chmerkovskiy clarified that it was all technical. “I’m like, ‘Your gravity is down. I got to use two hands sometimes to move,” he explained before joking, “’It’s not ‘cause I love you that much.’”

The pair competed together twice on DWTS during season 12 in 2011 and season 15 in 2012, coming in second place and seventh place, respectively. Their relationship took a turn when Leah Remini joined the cast of DWTS season 17 in 2013 — the same year Alley called Remini, 54, a “bigot” for her criticism of Scientology.

The conflict led to Chmerkovskiy and Alley cutting ties due to his friendship with Remini. “She stopped getting along with me. I think the world of her. I’m not judging people by their religion. Two years later, Chmerkovskiy exclusively told Us Weekly that a friend of his received a note stating he was “no longer allowed to be Kirstie’s friend.” He added, “I find it ridiculous for an adult human being to ‘disconnect’ from someone. But everyone is entitled to their own insanity.” He later criticized Alley in February 2022 for stating she didn’t know “what’s real or what is fake” about Ukraine’s ongoing conflict with Russia.

Despite their ups and downs, Chmerkovskiy paid tribute to Alley after she died at age 71 in December 2022 following a battle with colon cancer. “We haven’t spoken lately and I’ll tell you everything when I finally see you, but for now I want to say that I love you very much and I wish you the most peaceful rest,” he captioned a pic of them on DWTS via Instagram at the time.

He went on to call the late actress “one of the most unique people I have ever met and easily one of the brightest moments of my personal and professional life.” He also compared their relationship to a “wild roller coaster.”

He concluded his tribute by writing, “I thought you’d be around forever. I wish we spoke often. Thank you for everything. I love you Kirstie Alley.”

On Monday’s podcast, Maks brought up his memory of Alley while discussing how DWTS pros keep things professional with their partners with his brother, Val Chmerkovskiy. “There’s a duality to it. It’s a little bit of both,” Val, 38, shared. “It’s a balancing act [to] have a partner that you can talk to and vent to and be reassured from. Then it’s cool. But if you don’t have that, then yeah, it’s an issue. It’s a big issue.”

Maks, for his part, noted that only “one relationship out of [the] 17 seasons that I did” turned romantic. Though he didn’t name which of his past partners it was, Maks said the romance was “short-lived and it was a mistake all the way in the beginning.” He went on to wed fellow DWTS pro Peta Murgatroyd in 2017, and the two have since welcomed three kids together.

I am thrilled to be able to work more closely with my enormously talented friends at Dateline as the broadcast continues to grow and attract new viewers in new places.”

It has not been announced who will replace Holt as the new host of Nightly News following his exit early this summer.

Holt took over as the face of Nightly News in 2015, making history as the first African-American journalist to solo anchor a weekday nightly newscast on a major TV network. He followed in the footsteps of Brian Williams, who held the anchor gig from 2004 to 2015. Several famous journalists have led the series since its launch in 1970, including John Chancellor, Frank McGee, David Brinkley, Roger Mudd and Tom Brokaw.

Before replacing Williams, 65, Holt served as a weekend host for Nightly News for eight years and coanchored Weekend Today for 12 years. He originally joined the NBC News family in 2000 and has served as the lead anchor of Dateline since 2011.

“He has led the network during some of the country’s most fraught and challenging times in the past decade,” Janelle Rodriguez, NBC News’ executive vice president of programming, wrote to staff members on Monday, per NBC News. “Quite simply, Lester is the beating heart of this news organization.”

Outside of TV, Holt is a husband, proud father of two and a grandfather of three. He married his wife, Carol Hagen, in 1982 and welcomed their sons, Stefan and Cameron, in 1987 and 1990, respectively.

Holt is the second major NBC personality to leave their role in recent months. Hoda Kotb left Today after nearly 17 years on the morning show last month. She cited turning 60 and wanting to spend more time with her daughters — Haley, 8, and Hope, 5 — as the reasons behind her decision.

Yes, Fyre Festival II is happening eight years after the infamous failed event.

“Fyre II is real. My dream is finally becoming a reality,” entrepreneur Billy McFarland, who created the original festival, shared in an interview with Today on Monday, February 24, the same day tickets for the event officially went on sale.

The festival’s second installment is scheduled to take place in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, from May 30 to June 2. On Today, McFarland, 33, explained that the dates were bumped back one month to “give our partners time to get everything ready.”

Unlike the original Fyre Festival, McFarland will not directly handle planning details. Instead, he is working with a “major festival operator,” hotel and travel partners and other travel companies to organize the event.

The People Behind Fyre Festival: Where Are They Now?

McFarland created the original Fyre Festival in 2017 with Ja Rule as a means to promote his music talent booking app, Fyre. Rather than the luxurious festival getaway that was promised on the island of Great Exuma, attendees were met with several planning problems involving security, accommodations, food availability, medical services and more. The festival was ultimately canceled, leaving attendees stranded on a remote part of the island.

McFarland and Ja Rule, 48, were each sued for $100 million by disappointed attendees in May 2017, and McFarland was arrested by federal agents for wire fraud one month later. He pleaded guilty to wire fraud and defrauding investors in March 2018. He was also charged with selling fraudulent tickets to Met Gala, Burning Man and Coachella six months later.

McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison in October 2018 but was released early in March 2022 and remained under house arrest until September 2022. Ja Rule was cleared of any wrongdoing by a judge in November 2019 after claiming he was scammed by McFarland. The failed festival’s ups and downs were documented in the 2019 documentary FYRE.

Though Fyre Festival II’s limited 2,000 tickets are on sale, no musical acts for the event have been announced. “We’re gonna have artists across electronic, hip-hop, pop and rock. However, it’s not just music,” McFarland explained on Today. “We might have a professional skateboarder do a demonstration. We might have an MMA champion teach you techniques in the morning.”

When asked if acts have officially been booked, McFarland stated, “I think what makes Fyre so cool is we are selling the experience of Fyre. I want to be one of the first festivals that can sell out with no artists. … We are announcing the artists over the next few months, so I’m not in charge of booking the talent.”

He noted that based on his conversations with the event’s organizers, attendees can “expect” several A-list names to be involved.

McFarland noted that he might not be able to attend Fyre Festival II, as his legal penalty restricts his travel. “I don’t know. I have to be OK with, mentally, maybe watching a livestream from my computer and crying a little bit,” he stated. “I have to ask for international travel.”

Noting that the event is not for everyone, McFarland said Fyre Festival II is for people “taking the risk, seeking the adventure and wanting to be there for the moment.” He added, “I think it’s always a risk. You’re taking a risk because I made a lot of bad decisions and messed up the first festival. Until it’s experienced, there is a risk to it.”

McFarland shared more details about the festival via social media on Monday, describing the event as having “adventures led by international and local talent, taking guests on boundary-pushing excursions by day and uniting for intimate beach-side performances at night.”

In a statement included in the post, McFarland wrote, “I’m sure many people think I’m crazy for doing this again. But I feel I’d be crazy not to do it again. After years of reflection and now thoughtful planning, the new team and I have amazing plans for FYRE 2. The adventure seekers who trust the vision and take the leap will help make history. Thank you to my partners for the second chance.”

The reality TV personality tied the knot with her fiancé, Zac Wyse, on Saturday, February 2022. “The Wyse family, Est. 2~22~25,” Lydia captioned photos from the couple’s nuptials, which were held on her family’s Georgia farm, via Instagram.

Wins or no wins, the cast of Wicked were feeling as wonderful as the Wizard of Oz himself at the 2025 SAG Awards.

Most of the principal stars of the movie musical adaptation stepped out to celebrate the film’s success at Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 23. Wicked led this year’s film nominations with a total of five, including Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture.

Cynthia Erivo scored a nod for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her role as Elphaba, while her costar Ariana Grande was up for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role as Glinda. Jonathan Bailey, who played Fiyero, rounded out the cast’s nominations in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role category.

While many of the cast and director Jon M. Chu celebrated the film during Sunday’s ceremony, Wicked ultimately ended the night with a total of zero wins. The film lost Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture to the cast of Conclave Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture to The Fall Guy. Erivo, Grande and Bailey — the latter of whom did not attend — lost in their acting categories to the likes of Demi Moore, Zoe Saldaña and Kieran Culkin, respectively.

Wicked, which hit theaters in November 2024, is an adaptation of the long-running 2003 Broadway musical; the show itself was based on the 1995 book of the same name by Gregory Maguire, which serves as an imagined prequel to L. Frank Baum‘s The Wizard of Oz and the classic 1939 film.

Wicked tells the backstory of green-skinned Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, and Galinda, the future Glinda the Good Witch, during their time as students at Shiz University. After starting as rival roommates, the two turn into unlikely friends as Elphaba’s magical abilities catch the attention of The Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum).

While Wicked follows the events of the stage show’s first act, the upcoming sequel, Wicked: For Good, will follow Act 2. Like the original show, the story is expected to pick up with Elphaba helping the persecuted animals of Oz in secret after fleeing the Emerald City. Glinda, meanwhile, finds herself on the opposing side of her best friend as she becomes a figurehead for The Wizard.

“Wicked 2 is definitely a lot darker in a lot of ways,” Marissa Bode, who plays Elphaba’s younger sister, Nessarose, exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this year. “So, I’m excited for that aspect of it.”

She added, “There’s a time jump for sure, and I’m excited to see visually – because I haven’t really seen any of the footage yet – how the characters have changed for good or maybe not for good.”

Erivo, 38, previously defended splitting Wicked into two parts for the big screen. “What’s wonderful about the show is that you get an insight into why this woman becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, but you have only three hours to do it in. With us, you have two movies,” she told Entertainment Weekly in February 2024. “In this first movie, you get to really get to know [Elphaba] as a young lady and what pushes her to the thing that we get to know. The story gets to be opened. You really get to experience magic, and we can do that.”

Erivo also said doing two movies instead of one allowed for Elphaba and Glinda’s relationship to be explored more than it is on Broadway. “We’ve expanded on their relationship as friends. Wicked will begin streaming on Peacock Friday, March 21. Wicked: For Good hits theaters on Friday, November 21.

Just days before losing their home in the January L.A. wildfires, the couple dazzled on the 2025 Golden Globes red carpet. Katie Thurston is feeling optimistic after the latest update in her breast cancer journey.

“Good news! My cancer hasn’t metastasize[d],” the former Bachelorette, 34, shared via her Instagram Story on Friday, February 21. Despite the small victory, Thurston noted that the cancer was found in her lymph nodes “as expected.”

Detailing her next steps, she continued, “Two more appointments left in LA before officially moving to NYC March 1st. The anticipated order of things is fertility (egg/embryo freezing), chemo, then surgery.”

Noting that the past week has been “A LOT,” Thurston concluded her post by writing, “I’m so thankful for my family, friends, and community here for helping me make it to my current stage [sic] of mind. Today I feel calm, less scared, and ready.”

After the spot continued to give her pain, she underwent a mammogram and “had to get multiple biopsies taken and sent off for testing to confirm.” Thurston noted that she was “waiting on learning what stage” her cancer was in.

While navigating her health battle, Thurston has been working on moving to New York City, “ideally near Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center,” she told followers on Tuesday, February 18.

Thurston underwent another biopsy earlier this week, revealing via her Instagram Story on Wednesday, February 19, that the procedure “went much better this time.” She added, “Took lorazepam, explained my last appt struggles and asked for more numbing, and they allowed Jeff to be there holding my hand. Waiting between appointments for the next one.”

The former reality star praised her fiancé once again after Arcuri, 36, postponed his upcoming comedy shows in New Zealand, Australia and Japan to help her instead.

“I was originally planning on moving back to [Washington] to be with my family and start care while Jeff continued his world tour,” she wrote via her Instagram Story on Thursday, February 20. “But he opted to postpone the upcoming dates to be by my side and I’ll forever be so thankful for this selfless act.”

Justin Baldoni’s religious beliefs allegedly played a role in his It Ends With Us set drama with Blake Lively.

The initial December 2024 lawsuit filed by Lively, 37, noted that she felt “alarmed” when she learned the actor cast as the doctor during her character’s birth scene, Adam Mondschein, was Baldoni’s “best friend.” The Hollywood Reporter’s Friday, February 21, feature claims that she was also distressed because Monschein is a member of the Baha’i community. According to his IMDb page, one of Mondschein’s biggest credits prior to It Ends With Us was the 2018 documentary The Gate: Dawn of the Baha’i Faith, which tells the origin story of the religion.

According to THR, Baldoni’s parents both converted to Baha’i — which focuses on the unity of humanity and elimination of prejudices — before he was born. Lively’s December 2024 sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni does not mention the religion by name.

A source who worked on Baldoni’s 2019 film Five Feet Apart told THR that the director “talk[ed] about his religion a lot” on the set of the romantic drama. “This had shades of Scientology but with less of the prominence and people hovering at all times,” the unnamed insider added. However, a separate source claimed that the influence of Baldoni’s religion during production had the opposite effect.

“I’ve never worked with a male director who was so worried about everyone’s emotional and mental well-being,” the second source shared with the outlet. “There was an openness and emotionality to his style that was more typical of a woman, and it probably wouldn’t be an issue if it was a [female director] because of the preconceived notions of gender.”

Additional sources told THR that because of Baldoni’s dual role as the director and male lead of It Ends With Us, the influence of Baha’i was more pronounced. He allegedly led crew members in prayer on the first day of production and would “ask God for guidance” before making creative decisions. There was reportedly lots of physical contact between crew members as well.

“The faith’s principles and ideas are interpreted and accepted in a variety of cultural contexts,” Zackery Heern, a Baha’i history professor with a focus on religion at Idaho State University, told THR. “In France, followers might be more inclined to hug. In Saudi Arabia, less so.”

Heern went on to address Blake’s December 2024 lawsuit, specifically her allegation that Baldoni claimed he could communicate with her dead father, Ernie. According to the professor, it is “not encouraged” in Baha’i to speak with the dead. “It’s a bit fringe for Baha’i,” he stated.

Several of the report’s claims connect to the allegations Lively has made against Baldoni amid the pair’s legal battle. She accused Baldoni of “constantly hugging and touching cast and crew” in her initial December 2024 lawsuit, adding that he would become “irritated, cold and uncollaborative” if his advances were rejected, adding to the set’s hostile work environment.

Baldoni, for his part, refuted Lively’s allegations in his $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times as well as a $400 million lawsuit against the actress, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane. Among his many claims, Baldoni denied Blake’s accusations that he tried to ruin her reputation, arguing that she instead attempted to take over creative control of It Ends With Us despite his role as director.

Both sides and their legal teams have vehemently denied the other side’s accusations. An official trial date has been set for March 9, 2026.

Blake and Reynolds, 48, have since filed a legal action to dismiss Baldoni’s lawsuit against them. Additionally, Us confirmed on Thursday, February 20, that Blake requested a protective order amid her and Baldoni’s legal battle, claiming she has received “violent, profane, sexist and threatening communications” and is seeking “additional protections.”
