TikTok announced on Sunday that it’s “in the process of restoring service,” but the app is still unavailable in the App Store and Google Play. If you search for TikTok on the App Store, you’ll see a message saying, “TikTok and other ByteDance apps are not available in the country or region you’re in,” while Google Play says, “Downloads for this app are paused due to current US legal requirements.”

Apple’s message also links to a support page explaining why it has removed TikTok.

TikTok went dark in the US on Saturday night just before the law that requires its owner, ByteDance, to divest or face a nationwide ban.

But on Sunday, TikTok has returned for some users in the US “in agreement” with its service providers, the company said. A pop-up displayed within the app thanks users for their patience and says its restoration comes “as a result of President Trump’s efforts.”

None of the companies involved have responded to requests for further comment. However, its restoration so far suggests that the app’s hosting provider, Oracle, and its CDN partner, Akamai, are relying on Trump’s promise that there would be “no liability” for companies that support TikTok. Others in the government, like Republican Senator Tom Cotton, commended the app stores for removing ByteDance apps and said any company that facilitates TikTok “could face hundreds of billions of dollars of ruinous liability under the law, not just from DOJ, but also under securities law, shareholder lawsuits, and state AGs.”

A newly built segment of border wall in southern Arizona will keep out more than just illegal immigrants, a nonprofit conservation organization says.

The border wall segment and a "paved road across Arizona's California Gulch is blocking streamflow critical to the survival of one of only two U.S. populations of Sonora chub," a press release from the Center for Biological Diversity reads.

The "rare desert fish" is a "small, moderately chubby fish that feasts on a variety of native food sources and has a unique and distinctly red coloration on the underside when in breeding condition," the organization says.

"The new wall and road will push these imperiled fish to the brink of extinction," Krista Kemppinen, Ph.D., a senior scientist at the Center for Biological Diversity, said in a statement.

"The Sonora chub’s survival depends on being able to access scarce desert water on both sides of the border, exchange genetic material with nearby populations in Mexico, and bolster its populations with upstream migrations of fish from Sonora after droughts. The new construction makes all that impossible," she continued.

The organization drew attention to the matter just days before President-elect Donald Trump is set to retake office and ramp up his border security efforts.

"Designating California Gulch as critical habitat is more urgent than ever to minimize other threats, such as by keeping cows out of the Sonora chub’s pools," Kemppinen said in the statement. "It’s also imperative that carefully designed culverts be added to the new border infrastructure to allow at least some semblance of a natural streamflow and migration. If federal officials are serious about saving this fish, they need to act now."

Earlier this month, Trump set off a fiery debate over whether Democrats should be to blame for California's wildfires after he accused Gov. Gavin Newsom of caring more about protecting endangered fish species known as smelt than protecting the state's residents from wildfires. 

Trump set off a firestorm on Wednesday when he called out Newsom on his Truth Social platform for wanting "to protect an essentially worthless fish" over protecting the water needs of Californians. The comments are not new, however. In the run-up to the November election, Trump made the claim during an October interview with podcaster Joe Rogan.

Neither the Center for Biological Diversity nor the Trump transition team responded to a request for comment regarding this story.

Houston Texans cornerback Kris Boyd stunned the NFL audience on Saturday when he threw his helmet and shoved his special teams coach after the first play of the game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Boyd was able to chase down Chiefs wide receiver Nikko Remgio to stop a potential opening-play touchdown. He stripped the ball loose only for the Chiefs to recover. He couldn’t seem to get his emotions in check and ran to the sideline ripping off his helmet and shoving Frank Ross to the ground.

He talked about the incident after the game.

"I got the ball out," Boyd said. "And as I’m getting up, I look at the screen, I see nothing but white and they’re all pointing that way. So I was like, ‘Oh yeah, we got the ball, too. Turnover.’ And I was just turnt."

Boyd thought Houston recovered the fumble. There was also a penalty flag on the field as he was disciplined for removing his helmet.

"I was just too excited, did something that I shouldn’t have done. Learning from it," Boyd said. "Keep my helmet on."

Boyd said he apologized to the team after the incident and had no ill-will toward Ross.

"He told me, ‘Hey, listen, don’t worry about that,'" Boyd said. "We had a whole ballgame to play, but I was just trying to get my point across. Like I said, I'm not that type of person."

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans, who didn’t see the shove, denounced the incident.

"What I saw is we can’t come out on the first play and throw our helmet," Ryans said. "That’s not what we teach. That’s not what we’re about at all."

The Chiefs won the game 22-14.
