Unrivaled is a unique opportunity for both free agents and contracted WNBA players hoping to contend in 2025.

MIAMI — Napheesa Collier allowed herself a few moments during the player introductions Friday night before Unrivaled’s first game to take it all in. 

Breanna Stewart was locked in last month during the WNBA’s first expansion draft since 2008.

Ionescu said her recovery timeline was “a little sped up” because of Unrivaled. 

The biggest takeaway from Unrivaled’s preseason has been about the luxury offerings for participants. And several players said the league’s setup is going to “put pressure” on the WNBA.

With the core designation, New York will officially take the biggest free agent off the market as the Liberty now have exclusive negotiating rights with Stewart.
