Jake Paul claims Republican party has 'alpha male' problem amid Trump-Musk meltdown

Boxer and influencer Jake Paul weighed in on the highly-publicized feud between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk on Thursday.

In a post on X, Paul suggested that the spat between Trump and Musk was symptomatic of a broader problem within the Republican party.

"One of the problems with the Republican Party is on display today (As a current Republican) We unfortunately have these Alpha male egos and leaders who aren’t mature enough sometimes. They’re 50+ years old and diss tweeting each other Elon and Trump are great but they need to work together and not make America look bad," Paul wrote.

Paul's comments prompted mixed responses on X.

Women's sports rights activist Paula Scanlan praised Paul's take as "rational."

"You know it’s bad when Jake Paul has a sane and rational take here," Scanlan wrote.

Paul's post even garnered praise from the left-wing content account Leftism.

Other users criticized Paul's take, in defense of Trump.

"Pretty sure this fight has been 98% Elon. Trump has been very restrained," wrote the conservative influencer Pro America Politics.

The YouTuber Joey Salads responded to Paul arguing, "Elon started it."

LOGAN AND JAKE PAUL KEEP IT REAL ON WHY THEY CONTINUE TO STAY IN FRONT OF CAMERAS

Paul has been a vocal supporter of Trump over the last year, endorsing the president prior to the election in a lengthy YouTube video in late October. Paul pointed to several statistics about the economy under the Biden-Harris administration in comparison to Trump’s presidency and called on voters to vote for change.

"Democrats have been in power for 12 of the last 16 years. So, if we aren’t happy with the current political state, economic state, environmental state, then who is to blame?"

Paul also addressed women’s reproductive rights, transgender athletes competing in women’s sports, and protecting women’s spaces in the video.

"As a future father, you will find me dead before I send my daughter to a school where men can go into her bathroom and where men can compete against her in sports. It’s bulls---. That’s taking away a woman’s rights."

Paul celebrated Trump's November victory and even attended the president's inauguration on January 20. That day the boxer event criticized those who opposed Trump after the president's inaugural speech.

"Any American who isn’t in support of Trump after this speech simply hates America and doesn’t want what’s best for this country and the world," Paul wrote on X.

But now, Paul has proven willing to be critical of the Republican party as well.

WATCH: Republican senators react to Musk v. Trump feud: ‘He’s not the CEO here’

Republican senators John Cornyn of Texas and Roger Marshall of Kansas shared their thoughts on the sudden, escalating feud between Elon Musk and President Donald Trump, with one senator saying Musk needs to realize "he’s not the CEO here."

After denying "outlandish" Democratic claims that the Trump-backed "big, beautiful bill" would result in cuts to Medicaid and SNAP benefits if passed, Cornyn addressed whether he believes Trump is wise to threaten to cancel all of Musk’s companies’ government contracts.

Musk and Trump have been locked in an escalating war of words over their disagreement about the president’s proposed budget bill, which is being considered by the Senate.

In an X post Tuesday, Musk said: "I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it."

Musk then asserted Thursday afternoon that Trump "is in the Epstein files" and "that is the real reason they have not been made public."

Meanwhile, Trump has said Musk is "wearing thin" during his leadership at DOGE and asserted he "asked him to leave."

"I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!" Trump said on Truth Social.

The president also said Thursday "the easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts.

TRUMP'S 'BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL' FACES RESISTANCE FROM REPUBLICAN SENATORS OVER DEBT FEARS

"I was always surprised that Biden didn't do it!"

Cornyn stopped short of criticizing either side, telling Fox News Digital Musk "has done a great service to the nation" and "I'm grateful to President Trump for bringing him on board and initiating DOGE."

Even through Musk’s spat with the president, Cornyn said the Department of Government Efficiency is "going to now be a permanent part of our discussions up here."

"Everybody believes, or understands, I should say, that the federal government is too big and too bloated and inefficient, and Elon and DOGE was very effective, I thought, at pointing out some of the most egregious examples of that," the Texas Republican said.

RADICAL NEW DOGE TRANSPARENCY POWERS COULD HIT CONGRESS AFTER ELON MUSK EXIT

Marshall responded to the controversy by telling Fox News Digital, "We appreciate what Elon did for the government, but it's time to move on.

"What Elon doesn't realize is that he's not the CEO here.

"Working for Congress, working for the people back home is so much different than being a CEO. [When] you're a CEO, you tell people jump, they say, ‘How high do you got to go?’ But President Trump is working with a board."

Marshall described the president’s role as "working with a board of a big business."

"There's 435 across the Capitol way here. There's 100 in the Senate. We've all got opinions. And, right now, this bill, I think 90% of the folks up here, Republicans, thinks that it's where it needs to be," he said.

Though acknowledging "there's opportunities for improvement" and "I agree with Elon that we're still spending too much money, that we need more cuts, I've learned a long time ago to stay locked in on my goal. And I am locked in on getting this one big, beautiful bill across the line."

'AMERICAN HERO' OR 'FAILURE': ELON MUSK'S DOGE DEPARTURE DIVIDES CAPITOL HILL

"I can guarantee you we're not paying any attention to this little feud going on," he concluded.

Regarding Democratic accusations that the bill will drastically cut Medicaid and SNAP benefits, Marshall said, "We’re going to do the right thing, but protect it for those who need it the most."

He posited that the Medicaid system is rife with illegal aliens and other individuals using the program "fraudulently."

Addressing the rest of those not using the system fraudulently, the senator said, "We're not going to take grandma out of the nursing home. We're going to make sure that she has her Medicaid.

"Persons with disabilities, I will fight to keep their Medicaid for them, children as well. But, on the other hand, there's probably 7 million healthy American men out there, working age, that really should be working and not on Medicaid, not on food stamps," he added. "So, let's help those people get a job."

Caitlin Clark's eagerly awaited rematch with Angel Reese put on ice as star takes smart approach to recovery

Caitlin Clark was given a two-week timeline with her quad injury, and there will be no early return.

In a much-anticipated matchup between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky, Clark will miss a fourth consecutive game.

"I'll miss this weekend's game, but after that, it's day-by-day and see how I feel, and just turn to the medical staff and what they think," Clark told reporters on Thursday, via ESPN. I feel like I've made a lot of progress and I feel good, and I'm not going to rush coming back. It's just not worth it. But after this weekend, I'll be reevaluated and we'll have a better idea of when I'll return."

The first matchup between Indiana and Chicago had some fireworks, as Clark hit Angel Reese with a flagrant foul. Reese took exception and had to be separated while jawing at Clark.

And while Clark surely wants to be on the floor for this one, the injury is too tricky to further risk anything.

"It's the type of injury like, you don't know, when I wake up, I'll feel different than the day before," Clark said.

She added that she could return on Tuesday against the Atlanta Dream - their next opponent would be the reigning champion New York Liberty, whom Clark got injured against, on Saturday.

Clark admitted that being injured is "testing [her patience] a little bit," but she's trying to use the injury to her advantage by learning on the sidelines - something head coach Stephanie White wanted her to do.

"It's taught me a lot," Clark said. "I've never been in that position before of actually getting to watch from the bench for an extended period of time… It's the same as you turn on the TV and watch the NBA or you watch other WNBA games -- that's the best way to learn basketball, is just watch and absorb it, and it's the same when I'm not active, too."

In her four games this season, Clark is averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 assists, and 6.0 rebounds. She already has a triple-double and double-double on the season.
